Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is placing blame for current government protests in Moscow on U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after she expressed that recent elections in that country were less than fair.
Updated at 8:35 a.m. ET: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton responded to Vladimir Putin's accusations that the U.S. was stirring up protests against his 12-year rule by saying Thursday she had expressed "well-founded" concerns about the conduct of Russia's parliamentary elections.
Earlier, Putin said Clinton had encouraged Kremlin opponents by criticizing the vote. Clinton suggested on Tuesday that the vote was not free or fair.
Speaking in a news conference at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Clinton also said that U.S.-Russian disagreement over the Western alliance's plans for a missile defense system in Europe did not justify Russia taking military counter-measures.
Putin alleged that the United States was spurring protests over the vote by voicing serious concern about their conduct. He said hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign funds had been used to influence the election.
Putin's remarks echoed the tough anti-Western rhetoric he employed in his 2000-2008 presidency to suggest Western nations were funding Kremlin foes to try to weaken Russia and prevent its resurgence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
Meanwhile, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told reporters Thursday that he did not see anything out of the ordinary about the protests as "they are a reflection of democracy."
"If people want to have their say on the elections this is fine," he added.
Updated at 5:45 a.m. ET: Prime Minister Vladimir Putin warned Thursday that Russian authorities might take an even harder line against protesters who have taken to the streets alleging election-rigging.
"We need to think about strengthening the law and holding more responsible those who carry out the task of a foreign government to influence our internal political process," he said.
Moscow has already put 50,000 police and troops out on the streets, backed by water cannon.
The demonstrations have been some of the biggest and most sustained protests Russia has seen in years, and police have detained hundreds of protesters.
Published at 4:55 a.m. ET: Prime Minister Vladimir Putin accused the United States of encouraging protests over Russia's parliamentary election and said hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign funds were used to influence the vote.
In his first public remarks about daily demonstrations by protesters alleging Sunday's vote was fraudulent and unfair, Putin said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton "gave a signal" to Kremlin opponents.
"She set the tone for some opposition activists, gave them a signal, they heard this signal and started active work," Putin said.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's United Russia party lost a significant share of its seats in Sunday's parliamentary election but will still have a majority. Opponents say even that was achieved by widespread vote fraud.
Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has urged Russian authorities to annul the results of Sunday's vote and hold a new one. He says "ignoring public opinion discredits the authorities and destabilizes the situation."
'Mercenary political interests'
Putin said some of the demonstrators who have protested daily over allegations of election fraud were pursuing selfish political aims and that most Russians do not want political upheaval.
Crowds have packed the streets of Russia in protest of the country's parliamentary elections. Msnbc.com's Dara Brown reports.
"We are all adults here and we understand that some ... of the organizers act in accordance with a well-known scenario and in their own mercenary political interests," he said.
The United States has expressed serious concern about the conduct of the Russian election, which Clinton suggested was not free or fair.
Meanwhile, police in Russia's two largest cities arrested scores of demonstrators Wednesday, in a third straight night of protests against the ruling party and alleged election fraud.
The demonstrations in Moscow and St. Petersburg appeared to attract fewer protesters than in previous days, roughly 300 in each city, but Russians' willingness to risk jail time and clashes with police indicates significant anger.
Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Vladimir Putin, your problem is with clinton and the obama administration. Do not take out your frustrations on the American citizens who are powerless against these elected officials once they have been elected into office.
We can only elect and eject these "representatives" of the USA and most of the time they were elected on false promises.
Putin just showed how stupid he is. Revolution is happening every where including in the United States, and it is only going to continue until things change, or until the whole corrupt system is brought down. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. The little people always win in the end, just for the corrupt cycle to start all over again, but in the mean time it is fun to watch those in power brought down, and brought down hard.
Semper Fi
It appears that the election of a Marxist in the U.S. has emboldened the communists in Russia. Clinton's a radical instigator who needs to shut her crazy pie hole.
Please hurry November.
Putin seems to be the mirror image of the wackos on the Right who blame imaginary boogeymen like outside agitators, secret Muslims, BilL Ayers! JebedIAH WrighhT! HayKorn!!!KenYAN!!MOOSLEM inTHE WHite HOUse!!!
Well, there you go. Every country has a right wing. Putin is simply taking a page from the play book of the Limbaugh's, Becks, Gingrich's, Palin's (He can actually see her house from his front porch), and the other right-wing crazies.
Doggone it, ya just gotta have an enemy. Ya just have to have someone to hate. Don't we all miss the cold war?
I'm sure I forgot something here. Let me go check my copy of 1984.
Yes Vladimir, when nothing else works, blame the foreigners. ..
Longhair
I am certain that Russians can think for themselves. Are you so vulnerable that when Putin makes a critical statement toward the US you will follow his leadership? Putin is trying to deflect blame for his own problems.
Funny, ours wasn't either! Wonder if they sent ACORN over to rig their elections too!
How foolish obama and company is on choosing the words when commenting on another sovereign nations internal affairs. If I recall correctly obama has also specifically attached union conditions to some foreign trade agreements as well as requiring foreign gay rights to be observed to obtain US aid.
I wonder how we Americans would react to another countries publicly telling us that we need to rail against our country?
Regardless, don't we have our own challenges in our economy that should be addressed? Obama and company needs to see that America gets back on track in all areas of domestic policy before publicly condemning another sovereign nations domestic policy.
Sorry, Mr. Putin is a man who has gotten thing done in a country that was in shambles. Weather you like his methods or not I hope we can fine someone who can do the same for this Country.
And George W. got in how? WHAT? A rigged election? Say it aint happening here.....
FedUpwithFed - thank you for corroborating my point about right wing wackos. HayKorn!!!!!
David Walker - "ya" obviously "have someone to hate" - Republican Conservatives. Your cold war is going strong.
Putin is sounding like Assad just whating for the tanks to roll-in. The Soviet Union still alive in Russia.
the Communist party won alot of seats during this failed democratic election. I'm not really felling sorry or the Russia peaple since there goverment continiues to support Syria, Iran and hardly ever doing anything constructive for the world.
JK lotsanumbers:
There wasn't a single Republican conservative in my list. They - Limbaugh, Beck, Gingrich, Palin - are low-intellect, right-wing crazies. I even identified them as right-wing crazies. Comprehension, anyone?
Longhair, you are a fool and a coward! Please move to Russia and beg for Putin's forgiveness you traitor! We do not need your kind here!
The United States has expressed serious concern about the conduct of the Russian election, which Clinton suggested was not free or fair.
Even though, I'm sure there is voter fraud over there, WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH US!? What is the purpose of publically campaigning the way we have on this issue? Has nothing to do with us. BUTT OUT and worry about our own voter fraud and political crooks. If Putin does get elected, the US will certainly be off to a great relationship again.
Republicans must have all too convenient memories. This administration makes a statement and the GOP nails it to the cross. All the while forgetting the Texas Cowboy with a mouth as big as a long horn's ass who had no problems riding high, guns blazing at a sovereign nation like Iraq.
But, let's all pretend Bush and Cheney never happened. That way, history can so very nicely repeat itself.
Big Boy stated: "Longhair, you are a fool and a coward! Please move to Russia and beg for Putin's forgiveness you traitor! We do not need your kind here!"
A fool and a coward? So, because he doesn't stand up for the idiot politicians that run this country into the ground, he's a fool AND a coward, and needs to leave? And who gave you the authority to tell others they need to leave this country? You give a new meaning to the word dipstick. Also, the word dipstick is to good to use in your case.
"We can only elect and eject these "representatives" of the USA and most of the time they were elected on false promises."
You mean when Obama said he would shut down Gitmo...bring all the troops home....Obama lied and people died!
Let's not forget he stated no National Health Care for illegal aliens....now we find out they get it too and he told us they would not. What isn't a lie? How does everyone like the new "CHANGE?
Why was longhair's comment collpsed? It made perfect sense to me.
In the meantime, we are having enough trouble with our own administration to go poking into someone else's business.
OnlyInAmerica, got two words for you, Dixie Chicks. The right wing destroyed these girl's career because they didn't like it because the criticized Bush. So please, give us a break and stow the self-rightousness. So fool and coward are accurate because he has forgotten that he is an American first and disgruntled second.
Amused - Are you admitting that the "right wing" has that much clout?
It was collapsed because newsvine is full of ignorance. People here love to fight about everything. Most of the time they are accusing one party for the exact same things their own party does. People make grandiose claims about how the U.S. should be run and how constitutional rights are not to be deviated from.
All the while collapsing comments, thus displaying the biggest problem on this site Hypocrisy.
Amused,
Dixie Chicks? Really? Was is the right wing that shut the Dixie Chicks down or was it their fan base? The Dixie Chicks did it to themselves. If you are stupid enough to talk bad about someone you know your fans support, you are simply killing your own career.
Now if the Dixie Chicks would of been rappers they probably would of sold more albums for their comments.
Sorry for the reality check.
Long Hair; Doug Ponders. only in America; i- Belive::: If you people are unemployed you might want to apply for work in Russia I THINK THEY COULD USE SOME SMOOCHERS who will follow them around and help hold up the free elections that those people want!!!
American,
So what I guess I'm seeing is; Mr Putin is accusing the US of sabataging it's elections, and CAUSING the corruption and by replying that the administration sees that the election, in fact, does seem to be corrupt, but that we didn't have anything to do with it...Hillary was WRONG in responding to his accusations by putting them back on Putin? Is that what you think?
You may want to look in the mirror and decide if you really are seeing yourself and not the real image that everyone around you sees. I would say your reality is a little off center.
By sitting back and saying "Oh, I guess you're right," I guess we would have done what you think needed to be done...right?
Collapsing comments is censorship. Please respect and guard your liberties and the liberties of others by allowing conversation, statement and opinion, even when you may disagree.
Longhair: Really?!?!? You need to get up on the Wall of Shame along with the likes of Jane Fonda and Philippe Pétain. Cower to that Russian thug scum! IDIOT!!
Its time for America to reel in that long nose of ours and keep it out of other peoples business.
Is that Matlock sitting on the left side of Putin?
Well the right wing-nut jobs are coming out of the woodwork. They all sound like a bnch of commie pinko a$$h0!#s.
"Long Hair; Doug Ponders. only in America; i- Belive::: If you people are unemployed you might want to apply for work in Russia I THINK THEY COULD USE SOME SMOOCHERS who will follow them around and help hold up the free elections that those people want!!!"
dale, if you want to continue acting like the North bound end of a South bound mule, then there are farms around that will give you a place to stay, with plenty of feed and a nice stall to sleep in. Give us a bray if that's what you want, ok?
"So please, give us a break and stow the self-rightousness"
So Amused, I gather someone telling someone else to leave the country if they don't like it isn't being self-rightous, right?
Military Man, Hillary needs to look at, and clean up her own governments BS before sticking her nose in another countries business.
"You may want to look in the mirror and decide if you really are seeing yourself and not the real image that everyone around you sees."
Funny, when did you become the spokesman for "everyone"? Try looking in that same mirror, you may find that your not very centered yourself.
"By sitting back and saying "Oh, I guess you're right," I guess we would have done what you think needed to be done...right?"
Quote me where I asked you or anyone else to do anything, let alone agree with me. Don't fall off of that high horse there son.
anything new ewent?...didn't think so...yawn
Vladimir Puntang doesn't realize the Hillarious Clinton WILL go over there and gut stomp his azz!...Vince Foster style
theexecutioner
What is that? a X-Box moniker. Here's something I bet you didn't know.......
The commie pinkos in Russia are the ones trying to get Putin out of power.
Only in America are idiots like OIA allowed to demonstrate in public the extent of their stupidity.
Poor poor vladi. He has come to realize that his people don't love him. That running on a beach in a speedo isn't enough to keep his people in line. That maybe the corruption in his government might not be setting well with the russian people. I guess he is now worried that he won't elected President again. That he may lose his chance at robbing more from the russian people. I bet he feels that oil pipeline kick back deal slipping through his fingers.
Now he will have to spend the whole winter blaming the U.S. Telling the world how we interfered with his voting fraud. That if the U.S. and the world would keep out of his voting business, things would be so much better for him. I mean the Russian people.
Now he will spend the winter worrying about a Russian Spring. Poor poor vladi.
Curious why does not like him other then some skinheads who blame him for letting immigrants in?
PM Putin should be seranading Secretary of State Hilliary Clinton, not actress Sharon Stone. And he
plays the piano beautifully,Hillary
Putin, don't blame this on Hillary. Everyone knows that it's only Republicans who stir up trouble in foreign countries.
Well wasn’t it Vladimir about three months ago popping off his big mouth, sticking his nose in US business saying “US citizens needing to learn to live with in their means” ?
Well Vlady my boy, turn about is fair play and you’re a “Wannabe” dictator.
Vlady if you can’t take a couple of jabs from Hillary it shows a very thin skinned not as all powerful persona you wanted the world to think.
Vladimir is seeing that the Russians are not willing to let him and his Napoleon complex return Russia back into a dictator ship, and now he is crying looking for someone to blame his losses on.
Cry Baby.
Damn! Putin is blaming Hillary for the upheaval in Russia? This is one powerful Lady! I don't give a damn whether it's perception or substance, or some of both, Hillary is one powerful Lady. Tickles me. I like the hell out of her.
LetMeExplain,
There were more than one person running the Soviet Union, they weren't a Dictatorship, they weren't even, truly, communist. They were a nearly pure Socialist system that was conducted like an Oligarchy, only there weren't any Royalty involved. They were similar to a board of directors with the President as the CEO.
There were a few high up in the Prolitariat that lived like westerners, while the rest of the country scraped and crawled for whatever scraps they could get.
In essence, they did what Bush and a small group of the most wealthy Americans tried to do to us. Eliminate all but the most poor and the most wealthy...sounds like the former Soviet Union to me.
Like 'Fast and Furious" guns & emails, the trail for the money Putin claims came from the west should be able to be tracked. Give it some time and we will know 1. If the money allegation is true, and 2. Who provided the funds. Wouldn't it be a punch in the gut if they found Democrat financial sponsors of Putin's opponents? Wouldn't it be a massive migraine if it were found out that prominent republicans had sent millions into Russia to achieve the turmoil Putin alleges?
Until the money trail is uncovered, we can't make this a partisan political issue. Putin is no dummy & Russia is NOT a third world nation. Their smart people will investigate where the money came from.
Military Man1740371
You were doing alright up to the point where you began to sound like one of those ignoramouses that got us into the mess we are at now for voting for the "Change" BS. Your types ignorance is amazing. Your savior has buried this country and you insignificent parrots can only keep pointing the finger at someone else other then your ignorant selves. You sound like one of the citizens of Russia that heralded in the developement Of the U.S.S.R.
Ron,
Who got us into this mess????
We voted for change because of the "Ignoramouses" who started us down this road, could you just imagine what kind of mess we would be in now IF we elected another Bush?
Get Real Man, you know how we got to this point, if you honestly believe it was because of anything Obama has, or has not been able to do, I truly feel sorry for you.
We need to keep our noses out of it. How is it our place to tell another country what they should do, when ours is in a spiral?
Putin is a Power Hungry Dictator that lost a few years ago and still is running the Counrty. He like many other power hungry dictators will not go out without a fight. Watch what he does next, he'll shut down the media, shut down the social networking and brutalize his people into submission if they continue to protest. If he does, they should hang him when this is over.
Military Man - I'm glad the Republicans took control for the 9-11 time frame, then lost control of things. If we had elected another Republican President, and we were going through the same rough patch as we are now, there would not have been another Republican elected for the next 20 years. We need bipartisan cooperation, not one side or the other constantly cramming their agenda's down the throats of the other side of the aisle.
Remember how the left held the country hostage on legislation unless included was a date for withdrawing our troops from war zones? We stopped functioning as a cooperative unit in the late 90's. We came together in the early 2000's. Then we fell apart around 2005 & continue to be that way today in the longest stretch of ugliness in modern political history.
At least what we elected is consistent... Bush Jr. was a bit of a wild card.
Military Man,
Please subsitute Bush for the "Inside the Beltway Crowd". The Ignoramouses you refer to are the same old, over influenced, over compensated, corrupted misfits who look out for their own interest and whatever interest keeps them in control and power. Nothing really ever changes except for the worse. The "road" is still intact and the only thing that will change the direction of the "road" is a revolution, not the apathy that prevails today. I feel sorry for the people who care, including yourself.
Here in the US our problems are not Wall Street and Wealthy People. It is our own elected officials that through the years have given us the shaft, spending wildly, creating a huge government bureaucracy, and not enforcing regulations that were in place and even pushing banks to lend money to those that could never repay the loans. I can trace all of our economic problems, lack of jobs and manufacturing to our elected government officials. Now this administration has created class warfare to distract us from the real problem, our own government and this administrations lack of a solution and even any solution to our problems. The real fix is, Spend Less, Save More, Smaller Federal Government, Fair Tax with less loop holes and make decisions based on whats best for all Americans and not special interest groups that donate to your campaign. Obama has pushed aside all decision making until after the election next year because he is afraid a wrong decision will hurt his re-election, I say don't worry about that Obama as you don't have a prayer of winning anyway.
Last Presidential election here the Dems pulled a few Putin's at our own voting spots around the Country. Many dead people voted for Obama, I guess he was so popular, even the dead came back to vote for him. I assume Obama's only chance in this next election is to pull a few Putin's.
In reality, the Republicans (hopefully) will be taking the heavy losses next year. They've acted very badly with their tea partiers, held the country hostage with the debt ceiling and want to give more and more to the rich and less to the poor and needy. Obama will easily win next year.
The election of 2008 was fair and square; it was a referendum on ending the Iraq "war", returning taxes to pre-bush levels and trying to bring back American jobs from oversees.
Of course Vladimir is crooked and wants to retain power. The snag is that the US Congress has no term limits and have built-in finance schemes that permit any incumbent to acquire a war-chest that makes it exceedingly difficult for a candidate from outside to defeat that incumbent either in a primary or the actual election.
So Vladimir could say to Clinton - cleanyour own houses FIRST. And, how could Clinton argue that the likes of Newt and Rangel are even a rare exception to the rule!
Why isn't anyone talking about the fact that FIXED News was caught LYING about Russian Protests, using Greek footage?
It's pretty bad when funny comments are getting collapsed.
Putin reminds me of someone who blames everyone else for his dropping popularity with too much narcissism and self gain. The Russian people would like a piece of the pie too with the seeds of the Russian Spring sprouting and growing.
If it is P.O.T.U.S to whom you allude, know this. With the buffoons you've put forward for nomination, one dare say, 'we feel your pain'. Know nothings that specialise in oversimplified solutions that would deliver the country to hell in a handbasket.
If it not P.O.T.U.S of whom you speak, the above does not apply so no need to engage!
Yes. He reminds one of a certain despot that after 40+ years got killed by the same people he tortured. Was taken out like the desert rat he was. What an inglorious end to a simpleton that thought the world was his sandbox.
Him and his sons had one thing in common with the republicans. The misguided notion there had to be 'tough', the manipulation of national resources to the exclusion of all others not in the immediate family. The mad rantings of 'terrorists' etc when in fact they were the people that 'ate the blue berry pie.
This business of vomiting crap like unamerican, socialist, narcissist etc, where does it end oh simple one. So shut up you stupid man.
MJNB
You must think of Obama in the terms described above. You certainly made the connect. Rightfully so.
Why does the American government want to control all other countries when they can't even take care of the country they were elected and they promised that they would.. I don't care about Russia, China, or any other foreign country. Get This COUNTRY back on its feet and to be independent again, than give assistance to the others. How many tax payers want to see their money spent abroad when they are about to lose everything they have worked for..
No need to get excited, there will be no “Russian Spring” anytime soon. Russians have they own special way of dealing with this sort of thing. And as far as NATO and the US are concerned, they would not dare come near the Russian border let alone crossing it. Russia is not Libya!!
Here goes the USA again trying to cause conflicts in other countries. A dissension so to say , that we may keep other countries at war with in, while we stick our noses into every thing. Man i wish we would just get out of everyone elses hair and just stick to our own country and get it back into shape. Eventually were just going to collapse.
MJNB -
What the hell are you trying to say, you're ranting like a child who just learned his first two syllable words but fails to grasp the concept of what they mean so they're incorrectly used.
I know you're enthralled about you're exciting new words buddy - but for now - please go sit in the corner, and don't get up until you're told to.
That so many people here seem to endorse Putin's delusional claim of "It's Hilary's fault," is at once humorous, sad and a little scary.
Putin needs to blame someone, and it's politically expedient to find a foreigner to be the scapegoat. Of course, as a self-ordained Mr. Macho Man, he thinks it's a good idea to point the finger at a woman foreigner.
The last brain alive.
Wow ! Your name says more then you can possibly know. Find it funny that your only contribution to this is to mouth off to other people to show how incredibly small your penis is and further prove that their was a run in the chain. Its a long fall from that high horse. Maybe you should find something a bit more your size Napoleon!
This is not the U.S. meddling . It is the truth. Their have been a few people that have said they had been instructed to fill ballot boxes. It was definitely fraud . Its like saying our government tells us the truth and we all know thats a joke. They tell us all the time what we do wrong it what counties do.Oh know not that.
I would say that if we want to get wrapped about the handle over "Far and Impartial" elections, first of all, a full review of The Bush administration election in 2000 would be the start of my list.
Second, the process as it was performed in Florida in 2000 and other states who haven't graduated from the "Paper" Ballot. Computers and other electronic systems that are much more difficult to "futz" with are not that expensive-and if the City and County managers try to pull the "we don't have enough money," they can take a significant pay cut, along with members of Congress.
Third, ELIMINATE the Electoral College! They are a Dinosour from 250 years ago that has no place in modern US policy.
Once we have accomplished all of this, we will be justified in throwing rocks at Russia's glass house.
Russian spring may well come. I would suggest that the purpose of our government is to consider the best interest of the American people first, and to consistently weigh whether we need to inject ourselves into the inner workings of other countries each time they go through periods of dischord and change. I believe the American citizen would be hardpressed to tolerate interference from other countries, if the roles were reversed. Let's hope Russia works it out to the advantage of its people, just like we're attempting here at home. I don't necessarily believe the average American is smarter than the average Russian, nor that we have less in common than we share. Let's work at wagging more and barking less.
Why isn't anyone talking about the fact that FIXED News was caught LYING about Russian Protests, using Greek footage?
Putin has balls, he is bringing Russia back to become a big player and the West doesn't like it, they would prefer a weak drunk leader like Yeltsin that they could easy manipulate.
Someone needs to tell Hillary that Putin is no Bill Clinton and won't cower before her scolding. She needs to worry about the potential corruption in our own election coming up. After all Chicago politics has gone national now.
In light of such recent events as these, depending on the Russians to transport our astronauts to the International Space Station is looking like an even worse idea than when it was originally conceived.
Putin sounds like a republican.
Exactly !!!!!!! LMAO
The whole issue seems to arise from ballot stuffing.
Now, who's in the news for voter fraud? Forging signatures on petitions? Oh yeah, Indiana Democrats!
Not even close with your comment SL…….Putin is a product of the Soviet System, (remember the country where everyone was equal?) and can hardly be compared to our democratically elected politicians. What you should be concerned about is the “drift” to the left that our government is taking us in. What history tells us is that’s the last place you want to be in.
Putin is a liar. And like all right wing extremist liars, he can't man up. His own fellow countryman, Gorbachev, has called for Putin to void this election. Putin is a control freak like all right wing control freaks. He wants and feels there should never be any questioning of his privilege of authority. BS. The Russian people don't want a return to Putin's version of communism.
What's the old fogies of the right who can't step into 2011? Do these nut jobs actually think educated people will just hand over their freedom and rights so right wingers can play God Almighty?
It's not the republican side that's afraid of having the voters carry valid ids. Or want to count dead people,or prisoners. The only voter fraud comes from the anti america,anti-christian left.
Nice try ewent, Putin is a communist same as some of your OWS Crowd not associated with the tea party.
And acts like a Dumbocrat.
Amazing that the "Well Developed Regimes" also steal elections as is done by Mugabe, falling of these regimes that value their self enrichment more than starving masses and suffering poor is inevitable, wherever it happens. If one who has seen the light first (like Clinton is if she did) incites others to rebel against such then to me its a positive, someone has to take the first step in every regime.
If you are not wanted just go Putin and please take Mugabe with you
Hillary needs to get out of politics and go back to Arkansas. Let Putin deal with his own poot.
as a Republican the 99 percent would love to hate, I hope the Dems draft Hillary for the presidential ticket in '12. If the Republicans take the White House, I hope they bring Hillary in to remain as secretary of state,,,, she knows the ropes now, and its the toughest job in America
A few hundred protestors demonstrate that the Russian elections were fixed and our governement (Hilary) decides that it must be true. Why cant our government mind our own business and take care of number one for a change. A 13 trillion dollar deficit, unemployment around 9.6%, foreclosures out the a##, two wars going on (winding down to one), 12 million illegals in this country and noone wants to enforce the immigration laws (but they want the Russians to have another election). ALL YOU ELECTED OFFICIALS IN WASHINGTON.....YOU WERE ELECTED TO SERVE THE PEOPLE IN THE UNITED STATES!!!! NOT THE WORLD!!! START DOING YOUR JOB!!! This goes for both parties (Dem & Rep)
Her first allegiance is to the socialist agenda - which of course - is the party that got 'snubbed'. Which is not even the case at all - they picked up I believe around 200 common house reps.
Honestly, if the Russians seriously have already forgotten the "good ol' days" - and it was only twenty years ago the wall came down - then let them destroy themselves again.
All socialists would like to believe & try to convince others that their textbook ideals of kumbayah, rainbows, & all 'equal-classed' citizens thinking of their fellow man before themselves is something that is actually achievable. It's a thought better kept in classrooms, daycare center's, & Disney movies where you get to dream about how you wish life would be. A little history and a little honesty with ourselves about human nature negates any assumption that humans, by default/birth, are naturally "good".
There will be no true equality or love until the Lord comes to make anew. Until then, a free Captalistic society is the best we can do.
lastbrain - just shooting the message!
We are all equal before the law - so says the Constitution.
Also, it is free-market capitalism that has got the world into the mess it now is in - remember the mortgage backed securities fraud? Banks in Europe and other parts of the world bought these heavily. Then came the crash. Their governments bailed them out, resulting in heavy borrowing. In order to compensate, they had to cut back on social spending, thus leading to ...
What led to the mortgage backed securities; repeal of Stegal-Glass during the Clinton Administration.
jeff-362275 it is odd we just about put up the same comment... RIDE BULLIE RIDE
me from oregon
I just read your post.....bet there millions of us out there that think that way. I am just waiting for one candidate in the upcoming election to get up to the podium and state....."I am not going to build a road in some desert before the roads are fixed in this country, I am not going to build a school in some foreign country until our schools are fixed, I am not going to feed people half way around the world until I know that there arent any people in this country starving, I am not going to help build some countrys' economy until I fix this one". THAT IS THE PERSON WHO GETS MY VOTE.....I guess I wont be voting in 2012
I hate to disagree, but ignoring foreign policy in favor of domestic issues is not only short-sighted but also dangerous. Isolationism has never served America well (see WWI and WWII). Like it or not, this is a global community, and what happens overseas can also profoundly affect us as well. I say, "Good job, Hilary"!
Deb P
Do you understand why the airlines tell the parents to put their oxygen mask on first then put one on the child? The same reason works for America now economically. We must take care of our country first so that we may help others later. If we go under first then who is left to take care of them? Fix this country first!
Nice spot check on your analogy Tiger - its helpful to explain abstruse concepts to Democrats using pictures.
Deb P - You are confusing "isolationism" with "Non-intervention", sometimes referred to as "military non-interventionism". You are also misguided into believing that this (in your words) 'did not serve America well (see WWI and WWII)'. In fact our nation's prior policy of non-intervention, which comes from Thomas Jefferson by the way -"peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none", is the only way this country can reverse its current downward course.
You speak to truth. Good for you. Our government often does not serve us. It's like running a home with 50 checkbooks and no one knows basic math. And our overreaching in an attempt to control and dictate to others, at home and abroad, doesn't serve us either. It serves no one. We pretend to have answers to problems that we have stopped answering for ourselves long ago. We don't have to rewrite our vision, we just need to rediscover it. Today our problems are as big as Russian ones, but our best answers, the ones we ignore, are American. We speak about party, too, but unlike Russia, we cannot be defined by it. We have been going down the wrong road for a long time and now we have to turnaround and rediscover our basic truths. Those we can come together on. Those we can handle.
The worldwide revolution takes root in another nation whose soil has too long been watered with blood and baked beneath the black sun of corruption. Let all monolithic, impersonal governments fall and a thousand new regimes run by actual people, who are drawn from among the governed and possess their full trust, rise to take their place. We need a world united by self-governing humanity, not divided by great nations who turn a profit from the world's failings and invest no effort in actually repairing them.
The 'what if's' are great, but are based on 'if' not 'is'. Group dynamics prevails, driving the human condition. John Lennon would be proud of you though, and that's a good thing.
just another way for the libs to deflect attention from the destruction obama is causing in this country. wake up people
I wonder for how much I can sell to Hillary another one of those red reset buttons!
from a ripple to a crashing wave....i come...
Elections are very rarely honest anywhere.
Yeah, like the US presidential election in 2006.
Yeah, like the 2004 presidential election right here in the USA.
Deb P
How about the one in 2008?
The electionfor POTUS is every four years.. not two.. Glad were all well informed.
Obama stole the 2008 election right from under McCain/Palin. They were so well put together and right on the road to an easy victory but unfortunately, Obama used cheap tricks like running against them. Forcing McCain to come up with an economic policy that was more that telling us everything was great was unfair just like forcing Sarah Palin into four whole interviews by building up an expectation that a candidate is answerable to the media or public.
Why is the US Govt. inteferring in the internal affairs on Russia, let alone any country ? I think the US Govt. is trying to deflect what is happening in the USA, to gain some breathing space. The protests, basket-case economy, very high unemployment, lack of health care for all of its citizens. Big business stealing public money, deficit approaching the zenith and a military bloated and dripped fed with money that could be used elsewhere. I'm not talking about Russia, but the USA.
The 2000 & 2004 were stolen from the Democrat party, it was a perverse and blatant case of cheating. Did you not watch the program a few years back on the cheating in one area of Cleveland ? All done simply.
This whole notion of Democracy is garbage, so you vote, you win or lose, you win, but don't like what is happening and then promise to vote them out in 4 years time. If You lose then you whine for 4 years and try again. Its pathetic.
I don't vote, I consider all politicians, no matter what country or leanings to be liars, cheats, evil, power hungry, money hungry and corrup. Some just do it better than others. have better PR firms behind them.
In the end its us folks that suffer and suffer and suffer. When will it end ?
When will it end? When we cave in to the collectivist notions of this administration and abolish elections in favor of a dictator that will take care of everyone equally (equally poorly, that is), which is apparently better in your eyes than the virtually free (although imperfect) elections that we have in this country. At least you don't care enough to vote, which is a relief for any thinking person--at least that's one less vote against sanity.
sorry nebodyhome im done voting for the least worse candidate. what this country needs is a third party. one made up of the middle class with middle class candidates, and no lawyers going into office. then and only then will you see campaign funding reform, lobbying reform, insider trading by congress reform, tax reform, foreign policy reform, and fair trade regulations put into place to get this country back to where it was.
Vote. And be smart about it! Good luck.
Does any of these posters actually know any Russians or ever been to Russia. Or is this just typical American hypocrasy pointing fingers at everyone else and makeing up things to make themselves look better. You have no clue so shut up......
shameless1
I do. Both and many and often!
shameless1 - You have an understanding of Russia we're missing? Please, share. Otherwise your post will appear as flippant and condescending, directed to everyone and no one, and about nothing exactly. And regarding the directive to 'shut up', that might be taken by some as Putin-esk. Is that what you really intended? What do you want to say? It could be one of the best posts we see on this subject. Contrary to what you read on this thread, Americans want to know the truth. It just makes us crazy when we don't know what that is! If you have insight, bring it on. We'll listen.
when are you people going to learn that ths u.s. is the cause of everything. ask your fine so called president from kenya . he has been telling the world that since you whites voted him into office. what ashame this country has become to the world.
hundreds of millions of dollars?...whose leg is he trying to pull...he's embarassed so who else to blame but the big old bad USA...punchingbag for the world's woes...people will one day wake up to this kind of manipulation !
Hmmm, Obama's foreign policy is really paying off - everyone loves us.
The US has its hand in every country. It has instigated the Muslim Spring uprisings... numerous leaders have stated US money and support has been sent to each of these countries. We are directly involved in all of the European countries that are having problems. So why is it far fetched to think our CIA or top government officials want to bring down Putin??? HE wont fall to the New World Order that Obama/Soros are trying to drive in with the help of the Unions. And Obama is pushing us closer and closer to full on socialism... which is one step from Communism. Its easy to see whats going on here, unless you are on the Left and happy to be recieving the handouts you have taken.
thom, if Obama is pushing us towards communism then why would he want to get rid of Putin a fellow communist?
*Slaps forehead, gets out picture book to better explain to wlee*
Putin is not a communist. He was a KGB intelligence officer who rose through ranks and was one Gorbachev's biggest cheerleaders for reforms in 1989. Fully supported the wall coming down. And in his inaugural speech as President his exact words were: "Freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, freedom of the press, the right to private property—these basic principles of a civilized society will be protected." That is opposite to Communism. The End.
*Closes picture book for wlee, and tucks him in*
thom-661865
You hit the nail on the head. In answer to wlee-950886 Putin would be too much for the NWO to handle they need gumbie types so they can mold them to the soros ideals much like odumbo.
Brain, Putin was KGB and a member of the communist party he also was no fan of Gorbachev who he blamed for the collapse of the Soviet Union reopen picture book and wipe your drool from it.
wlee-950886
Now lets see, what party is running against him???
Tiger are there different parts of the Republican party? If you don't think Putin is a communist then what is he?
wlee-950886
I would say a socialist dictator. He definitely disagrees with the communist party. He definitely has his faults, but he has done more to turn that country around than any of the recent leaders beginning with Stalin. When I first started visiting Russia 15 years ago those people were barely alive. They lived from day to day and many died. Now when I visit I see regular citizens(not all) building new homes or remodeling old ones. The people are happier and more relaxed than we are. While it is true they have a long way to go to reach our level of prosperity they at least are moving in the right direction as we move in the wrong one. Doing better is better even if it's not perfect.
Tiger, I agree with most everything you said I never said he was a bad leader most Russians have supported him and he has raised the quality of live for most of them.
we really dont have to interfere with any of russia politics
russia will destroy themselves with their own corruption just like the usa
Let's start the cold war all over again. This time it will be the USA who goes bankrupt.
As Secretary of State of the United States, Hillary Clinton is arguably the most powerful woman on the planet, but somehow I don't think she spoke in protest code to people she hasn't met. I suppose it's possible she did a flyover and sprinkled magic protest powder over the Russian people...
Sadly our diplomatic gestures have often included subversion, with or without sprinkles.
People do not protest if they have jobs and hope. Whether Egypt, Russia or the USA..........
Good point.
I wish the bird drippings mouth of Hillary clinton would keep her fat pie hole closed and not alienate us from the whole rest of the world.
The Russian elections have always been rigged, just like ours were by Acorn and Obama. It's a fact of life.
You mean the way George Bush stole the 2008 election???
Glen and Jen,get a life no one stole anything
Lmao @Jen. Yeaaah Jen, Bush totally stole the election for Obama? Bush ran in 00' & 04'. Did you just get out of Libby training camp or something? You're all robots that just spew out rhetoric circulated on college campuses and in your utopian nude colonies where you're all told its not your fault you didn't make it
Why isn't anyone talking about the fact that FIXED News was caught LYING about Russian Protests, using Greek footage?
