An unidentified Chinese captain, center, is led by South Korean police officers to Incheon Coast Guard office after his arrest on Monday.
SEOUL, South Korea -- A South Korean coast guard officer was killed and another injured Monday when they were stabbed by a Chinese captain whose boat was stopped for suspected illegal fishing in South Korean waters, officials said.
Two Chinese boats were stopped in Yellow Sea waters rich in blue crabs, anchovies and croaker, but details of the fight were unclear, coast guard officials said.
The officials, who declined to give their names because of the sensitivity of the situation, said the captain of one of the boats stabbed the South Korean officers.
The officers were taken to a hospital in the port city of Incheon. Nine Chinese sailors were in custody, the coast guard said.
A South Korean officer stabbed in the side died; the other officer wasn't severely injured, the officials said.
There was no immediate comment from the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing.
The coast guard said it has seized about 430 Chinese ships for illegal fishing in the Yellow Sea so far this year, up from 370 last year. The coast guard usually releases the ships after a fine is paid, though violence occasionally occurs.

here we go--
At least this will take Korea's attention off of Japan and the stupid Takashima/Dokdo island dispute for a bit.
Hmm I wonder if China will stop all trade, until S Korea apologizes and releases the Capt, like they did to to Japan.
Not likely. No Japanese were killed in the prior incident.
Chinese captain, crew and boat will be freed soon or South Korea will suffer consequences...:)
these @!$%#en slented eyes chinese think they are invincible.
"Slenty eyed"?
1. Your comment is RACIST.
2. You don't know how to spell. Better a Chinese person for a neighbor than a racist dope.
arshad, your troll is successful at demonstrating your ignorance. Congratulations!
Though I don't approve of the racist remark, I'm not sure how one could be called 'ignorant' for being a racist. Now the spelling on the other hand...
arshad,
We certainly know you are NOT invincible, as you have been overwhelmed by ignorance, racism, and stupidity all rolled into one little mess of an idiot!
The Japanese have allowed the Chinese to get away with some really atrocious behavior so testing other countries is logical from their point of view. The Chinese fishermen are sure no other country wants to chance irritating the Chinese government so they will push each country in turn to see how far they can go. It's hard to imagine that a totalitarion state actually needs to increase its control over its people. The only alternative to believing that is necessary in this case is to believe that the Chinese government is intentionally urging their "fishing" fleet to create these "incidents".
In terms of respect... Korea isn't much better than China. Every time there's dispute with Japan, they claim that Japan is acting like it did 70 years ago. Complete BS! Korea and China just simply need to learn to forgive, which is something that the propaganda pushing politicians refuse to do.
Japanese needs to appologize for their attrocities first!
Really?!? Seriously?!? You know, they have said that they were sorry.
Hell, America said they were sorry for the atomic bombs and the fire bombings of Tokyo (which killed just as many as Hiroshima and Nagasaki together)... But is it enough? It's not how much you say you're sorry or what you do, it's being forgiven for it. Japan has forgiven America for it. And even America has forgiven Japan for Pearl Harbor. Yes, there's some who still harbor hard feelings for the other, but as a country (including its politicians) they have forgiven each other. What more needs to be done? Nothing! Because forgiveness has been given.
Japan has said sorry numerous times, which should be enough. But every time something like the Japanese PM visiting Yasukuni Shrine happens, both China and Korea get their panties in a bunch and there's wide spread protesting and even some who commit public suicide. Disgusting and pathetic!
What gets me though is that both countries have primary Buddhist beliefs and they KNOW that in death all are equal. So what's the problem with Yasukuni Shrine? Yeah sure, there are war criminals buried there... but in death all are equal. So there's SHOULDN'T be a problem. It's just Korea and China whining like a bunch of babies every time they see their historically hated neighbor do something they don't like.
So honestly, when you say "Japanese needs to apologize for their atrocities first!" you have NO idea what you're talking about. Or you're nationality is Chinese or Korean... and you're just a tool of the black propaganda that your bias, hate-mongering politicians spew out.
Hey Chris, Shut the hell up and crawl back to your irradiated mommasans a**hole where you crawled out of and die you F*cking mutant. LOL!
Japan has NEVER apologize for their atrocities! If they truly are remorseful, they would not let that despicable shrine exist at all. It housed all the Class A war criminals and the japs are worshiping them as heroes. They have also never even acknowledged the existence of "Comfort Women", where women were kidnapped from China and Korea and forced into prostitution for the japanese imperial forces, serving upto 30 soldiers everyday. Read today's Toronto Star:
http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/education/article/1100922--brampton-students-join-comfort-women-s-quest-for-justice
This cruel history is now being taught in Toronto and surrounding schools' history lessons. It's about time the world found out about japanese atrocities during WWII, much worst than the Nazi. Americans today ignored this cruel history because japan is now an American lap dog, talking orders from Washington. USA is also hiding the historical facts that USA received all the japanese Unit 731 germ warfare results, using Chinese civilians as human test subjects.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731
So Chris, get yourself a real history lesson before barking here.
Sam,
Nice! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
Toronto,
ROFLMAO! I have a major in South East Asian Studies!
So, I've read about the harsh assimilation of Japanese culture into Korea. I've read about atrocities like Nanking. I've read about the comfort women and chemical warfare that you pointed out. I've read about Okinawa and what the Ryukyujin endured. I've read about Burma/Myanmar. I've read about Japan's false propaganda called "Uniting the Asian Brotherhood Against Western Colonization" as a cause for their military expansion! And that's just scratching the surface... As I said, I have a major in South East Asian Studies!!!
But let's get back to the main point, JAPAN HAS APOLOGIZED! However, since you're too inept, ignorant, and/or blissfully full of hate to find out about Japan's side; let me post you a link:
A List of 50 war apology statements issued by Japan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_war_apology_statements_issued_by_Japan
Then tell me,
1. Why did the japanese government continues to deny compensations to the victims?
2. Why did the japanese changed their text books to ignore the crimes committed during WWII?
3. Why did the japanese continues to deny the existance of "Comfort Women"?
4. Why the world continues to hunt for Nazis? Germany has done more to atone than japan. Are Asian lives cheaper than European lives?
Apologizes are empty unless they are coupled with actions. Empty apologies are another slap on the victims' face. You are nothing but a japanese apologist who think nothing wrong with& make light of these attrocities. Shame on you!
Alright. Now you're just being plain ignorant. Do you even know how to use the Internet for research?
Concerning compensation:
These Google searches took me less than 1 minute to find. And there were numerous results! Here's just a few.
As for textbooks:
Textbooks for children are moderately to heavily censored because of the level of graphic violence. However, you can ask any Japanese teenager if they know about the horrible atrocities that were committed in Korea, China, and other countries and they will say, "YES." Because textbooks do say they did terrible things. It just doesn't graphically elaborate on the atrocities.
But what do you want? Do you want the children to know that their grandfathers and great grandfathers beat and raped Chinese women in Nanking, then ran a katana all the way up a their vaginas, decapitated some of them, and then continued to have sexual intercourse with them? Children don't need to hear such graphic violence. And if you think they do, then SHAME ON YOU! Disgustingly SHAME ON YOU!!! Not even children's textbooks on Nazi concentration camps go in to equal detail.
As for Nazis:
Not the world, but the European Union and Allied Nations continue to hunt them.
Whose responsibility is it to hunt the war criminals of Japan? Although 11 representatives from the Allied Nations attended and conducted the Tokyo War Crime Trials. It is not the Allied Nations' responsibility anymore. It would be China, Korea, and other Asian countries' responsibility. As for any remaining war criminals; are you familiar with "seppuku"? I guarantee that's why there aren't any left to hunt. Not like the scores of cowardly Nazi dogs who fled Germany and tried to hide their past by living alternate lives.
Now the only HUGE problem I have with the Tokyo War Crime Trials is that Emperor Hirohito was let off and it was made to sound like he was not in control of his military. It is well known that this is false. I believe Hirohito should have been punished via death as well. However, MacArthur's delegates felt that it would be better not to put him to death and to direct attention towards General Togo... Eh, maybe so.
Lastly. I cannot see in any of my postings where it says that I think Japan has done no wrong and that I am making light of the atrocities they committed. If you felt a surge of glee from writing such blatant garbage, there's nothing and no one that can help you.
Now, mind you. Those three links that I posted still do not paint a wonderful picture for Japan. Nonetheless, it does state that they are compensating victims and that they do acknowledge (though not as much as they probably should) comfort women. All three are interesting articles.
The third one has multiple pages.
perhaps the south Korean navy should start to sink these Chinese fishing boats? as we know the UN is worthless and everyone else in the world some how is afraid of offending the Chinese, so what the heck just take a shot and see what happens. maybe the USA should sell and or give the South Korean government some of our drone aircraft instead of using them on USA citizens.
now why didnt they kill them back.I would of .enought said. eye for a eye
And deny the opportunity to make China look bad on the international stage. If they killed them back then they would be no worse then the Chinese.
When the cost of a good GPS is next to nothing, illegal fishing, whether intentional or accidental, inside the territorial water of another nation without permission is inexcusable. But it's the same old story of mankind: fighting and killing each other over earth's limited resources.
I guess the Chinese captain expected to be warned out of the area, not boarded, and overreacted. This doesn't seem like a government sponsored incident.
Very much so. My conspiracy theory is; the Chinese government purposely ordered that fishing boat to go to Korean waters.
I think it's just a fisherman trying to hit up the good spots... illegally of course... was caught and boarded by S. Koreans who he has been enouraged to despise since his birth.
State-sponsored bigotry and dehumanization leads to such things.
I think whats happening here is that because of the Nuclear disaster Japan had recently, that area is not good for fishing anymore, so they find other areas to find good fish. I'm sure a lot of fish is contaminated because of the disaster. Also, I know for a fact China thinks they own the ocean next to China. Lately they have been very aggressive with others nearby.
Interesting thought. I'd like to know where the Chinese boat that was boarded normally is stationed...
Are the Captain's hands bagged in the pic because they're evidence?
Just a chinese fishing boat skipper, not from the chinese Navy, whats the point of making up the story ???
Chinese vessels have been continuously causing troubles in the Southeast Asian Sea (South China Sea), Japan Sea, and Yellow Sea. They even threaten American and Indian ships traveling in the Southeast Asian Sea. It looks like an orchestra from the Chinese government.

The Chinese government is carefully testing the political waters for any resistance. Their fishing boats in other countries territorial waters are no accident. Over time, they will dominate the surrounding waters and countries.
or they will be slapped.
Korean should not use overwhelming cruel force to manhandle those fishermen who are just out in the open sea look for fishes. Keep kidnapping innocent fishermen for ransom with brutal force will make Korean an outcast in the civilized world. Rightful protection is needed next time if fish near the rough country.
It's very funny, hahaha~~~~
You must be a Chinese.
North Korea and China will get whats coming to them. It's unfortunate that when the Korean war kicks off again that both countries will be in ruins, but the war has been delayed long enough.
Sooner or later the Chinese are going to be pushing into our territorial fishing grounds, then things are going to get interesting.
who cares?
Just one more reason for Japan to start building a credible Military complete with rocket's. We have to release Japan from it's WW2 handcuff's and let them protect themselves. They count on the U.S for too much protection and spend little if anything on their military. Japan has the technology to build Nuclear weapons and they should do it. That would at least keep China in line at that side.
Japan has the world's 2nd most advanced navy, next to USA. They continue to be the terrorist in Asia.
Trying not to sound paranoid but every time China, N Korea, Iran are involved in anything you have to wonder what else is going on. It's not like they don't know where to fish. I think this is probably encouraged by China.
Sail the Chinese vessel into NK waters and watch how quickly the captain and crew are freed. NK would confiscate the fish, imprison the crew and sink the boat...just like China would do to any fishermen caught in their waters.
I'd have to disagree on sinking the boat, China is dominated by realists, they would probably ransom the ship or just keep it.
