MEXICO CITY - Mexicans got a rare glimpse into the rough-and-tumble student organizations at many of Mexico's universities Thursday, after five bodies were found buried at one group's headquarters in the western city of Guadalajara.
Jalisco state Attorney General Tomas Coronado said relatives had identified three of the dead as high school students who were reported missing along with two other people last week after they complained that the student group was demanding protection money to sell snacks outside a campus.

Forensic investigators work at the site of a clandestine grave found in the garden of the Federation of Students of Guadalajara on Thursday.
Police uncovered three bodies in a pit late Wednesday and two more in another pit late Thursday. Investigators were trying to determine if the latest two were a fried-dough vendor and his son who went missing with the three teenagers, Coronado said.
The vendor, Armando Gomez, his son and three of his high school friends disappeared last Friday after going to the Federation of Guadalajara Students' headquarters, where the bodies were found. They went to complain that the student group was demanding too much protection money for allowing him to sell snacks outside a high school campus.
The first three bodies were found two days after two college students in nearby Guerrero state were killed in a clash with police after student protesters hijacked buses, used them to block a highway and fought officers with rocks and sticks.
Highly organized, semiformal and often violent groups are commonplace at Mexican universities. It is a phenomenon that dates back at least to the 1950s, but swelled during student radicalization in the 1960s.
The organizations have become less ideological over the years, however, and are now often linked to, or protected by, political bosses known in Mexico as "caciques," or chieftains. The groups sometimes act as enforcers to strong arm a politician's rivals, or freelance in extortion or petty robbery.
Distracted government
Political analyst John Ackerman said Mexico's current political atmosphere, with tension heating up before the July presidential election and a lame-duck central government distracted by the fight against drug cartels, may have emboldened such local groups.
"Cacique power is alive and well in Mexico," said Ackerman, of the legal research institute at Mexico's National Autonomous University. "This is another aspect in which democracy is still incomplete in Mexico."
The Federation of Guadalajara Students, known as by its Spanish initials FEG, no longer has any formal ties to the university, but it operates at high schools affiliated with the university.
The FEG specialized in charging food and soft drink vendors to operate around the high schools, according to one university official familiar with the group. While the group was once leftist, the FEG switched decades ago to supporting the Institutional Revolutionary Party, which ruled Mexico for 71 years before losing the presidency in 2000, said the official, who agreed to discuss the group only if not quoted by name because he wasn't authorized to speak about it.
The FEG has a website in which it describes itself as "a student political organization ... teaching the promotion of Democracy and Tolerance." It lists no phone number or email contact.
On Monday, many Mexicans were shocked by the shooting deaths of two protesters at a demonstration by students from a rural teachers college in Guerrero state, but were not at all surprised students had hijacked buses, used them to block the toll highway leading to the Pacific coast resort of Acapulco and threw stones when police tried to clear the road.
Grenades planted?
The Guerrero state prosecutors office said students from the teachers college regularly block highways or take over toll booths to raise funds, but had acted with unusual violence in Monday's protest, which was called to demand more funding for the college.
Police called in to clear the blockade apparently opened fire on the students. Federal police have said it was state police who fired the fatal shots, while Guerrero officials released video of federal officers kicking and beating detained protesters.
Lawyers for the students and rights groups, meanwhile, are accusing authorities of planting grenades at the scene and an assault rifle on one student to try to justify the shootings.
Ackerman, at the national university, said he considered the shootings unjustified. But he added there were indications that "outside forces," perhaps directed by a former governor, may have infiltrated the protest in an attempt to create a politically embarrassing situation for current Guerrero Gov. Angel Aguirre.
"The long-standing tradition of using student 'golpeadores' (street fighters) to implement a strategy that authorities can't carry out themselves is alive and well in Mexico," Ackerman said.

ahhhh, the slow regression back to the simpler days of ordinary primitives!
that's exactly what I was thinking.
Why can't Mexico have a civilized, developed society comparabe to it's neighbors America and Canada??
Viva La Raza!
now hand over those Doritos, muchacho....if you want to see your family again.....
Yea, look how civilized we are... our murderers chop the bodies up and keep them in the freezer, some eat them or bury them in their back yards.
Oh, please we are no better than anyone else. Murder is uncivilized!
JK-4363698, Indoor plumbing and toilet paper is the answer to your question.
You mean gangs. Yes, college student gang members. Not all gang members are uneducated poor people.
The indecency of quick burials just for the sake of not getting caught causes more problems and distress when they are discovered. Mexico should have a body deposit can on curbs, with laws creating exemption from evidence if caught using one, so these victims can be collected by the city in the morning and disposed of in a respectful manner.
You are going to tell me that we have Cartels running around killing people all over the streets. You can't even step foot outside your house in large portions of Mexico its not even close to America. Try again buddy.
Drive through crematories....
@journaljournal: Exactly. I wonder why MSNBC found it necessary to couch it in such vague terms. Just call them what they are: gangs!
FEGS. Messicos true colors keep shining through, now you know why so many want to sneak into America, not to escape from the torment but pay it forward, boycott the paleta man and the mango man and chicharone man in your neighborhoods, they don't wash their hands and they are ran by mobsters.
BillofRights - I was going to say the same thing but I chickened out.
BillofRights1789:
WE didn't "invade" Mexico but we did conquer it once before. See how that turned out?
If we invaded it we'd be "on the hook" to rebuild it... Just like we have done in other countries... Let's not pour money down THAT RAT HOLE!
Bring our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan and put them on the border with orders to shoot to kill and tell Mexico we mean business. We'd have to kill a few but they'd get the idea quickly...
Enforce our laws on the books, fine employers who hire ILLEGALS with crippling fines...
We don't want them here and we don't want to have to try and bring THEM up to our standards... Too much money and time...
in alabma they have used economic tools in conjunction with enforcing the strictest immigration laws in the country. THey will be a true crucible for the rest of the country to watch. I believe it will work well for them and that as soon as it shows signs of progress form it we should follow as a nation.
We have a group here in the states doing the same thing.Who says Mexico can't teach this country a thing or two?
...and what group would that be, golliegeewillikers?
My first impression was the Republican Party what with hijacking and all.
I'm just saying...
J scott....Have a clue and put down the glue before posting.....
What a stupid comment, JSCOTT. I think you are talking about the Occupiers, who are obviously quite liberal, meaning Democrats.
Anyone for taking a vacation in warm and friendly Mexico?
The "culture" of Mexico continues to demonstrate that there are no depths of depravity to which it is not happily willing to sink.
Yet, we have a U. S. administration that is giving aid comfort to the millions of illegals coming from Mexico, who have no love of America nor desire to abandon their Mexican "heritage" and its inherent dysfunctional ways of thinking and doing things.
Is it anyone our economy is tanking and will continue to tank with leadership that is more interested in pandering to Hispanic voter, than caring about the integrity of America's borders and its own unique identity. I wonder which part of "What they have there we don't want anything to do with here." Obama doesn't understand?
Thank God Presidents can be kicked out of office after four years. Hurry up 2012; things are getting worse by the day while we have to wait on you.
Stoops... you are an ignorant racist... pure and simple. Did you even take your hood off to vomit that crap you posted? Its people like you who instead of seeing things for what they are you twist and turn everything around to fit your agenda.... you must be a hard right conservative republican.
Upyours2011: How was Stoops2Conquer in any way shape or form racist? Did they say, "Lets electrify the border and put a sign on it that says, 'it can kill you.'" No that was Herman Cain being a racist. Oh wait, does that make me a racist for calling Cain one? People like you that bring race into everything is why this country is going down the drain. Change your name to upmine2011, cause thats where your heads at
"upyours2011" your ignorance is showing. you might want to put some IQ in your coffee. There wasn't anything racist in his statement. He simply stated his feelings on an issue and you (as a sensitivetype) immediately tossed a race flag out of natural impulse. Head down to the store and get an extra layer of skin it's great protection out in the real world, unless you're in Mexico and getting shot at.
If anyone is ignorant, it would have to be you. Stoops is seeing things for what they are. And if you're not ignorant, as I'm sure you'll claim, then you obviously don't read too much of the news to even form a real solid opinion. All skepticism aside, illegal immigration has been a hot topic for the past few years more so than it has ever been. The fact that it has gone unchecked, and rarely commented on by our beloved leader (I use that term loosely), is due to the upcoming election next year. It's called securing votes for his future run off for president. It's no secret that minorities look towards democratic candidates long before they look toward republicans, so in what way would stoops be ignorant?
On another note though, upyours, thank you for adding and contributing not a thing to this discussion.
This continues to boil down to the drug prohibition. Legalize and regulate. Prohibition doesnt work! These groups started springing up at the same time criminalization was gaining speed here in the USA. It is NOT a coincidence.
The people in power know DAMN well what the "War on Drugs" has unleashed upon us, and on other countries with the misfortune to be linked to us in the drug trade. It is a lucrative business for them. It is the Military Industrial Complex keeping themselves in business.
The War on Drugs takes the focus away from fighting other crime (like these "snack" killings), overwhelms local police forces, criminalizes entire cultures, floods prisons with nonviolent drug users, and incentivises organized crime to form, grow, and become stronger. Take away the black market, take away the profits, and the organized crime "cartels" that have grown up around it go away. The problems that we are left with - which will always exist anyway - the actual plight of those that USE the drugs, will be much more manageable through education, and treatment (with just a PORTION of the fortune in money used to FIGHT this endless "war" being redirected towards treatment and education efforts).
But as long as the current status quo hangs on, we will continue to have our own communities decimated, have a war on people via the "war on drugs" - see the continued decline and radicalization of Mexico, and the continued impoverishment of this country. I say the continued impoverishment of this country, because the same criminals running the drug war also have their scaly claws deep into our corrupt banking system. They are destroying us - death by a thousand cuts style. The War on Drugs is just one of many fronts in the War on the Common Man.
We are so deep in the sh!t now, and for so long, we have practically become unable to smell it!
I moved my family to Ajijic Mexico, just southeast of Guadalajara in 2000 for a year. It's hard to believe the level of violence there. It was a great city just 10 years ago, fantastic architecture, good infrastructure, very progressive.
I was in Guadalajara about ten years ago for my brother's wedding. It seemed like a normal big city (with a HUGE bus station.) What were you dong down there?
Mexico is an out of control and lawless country
A perfect breeding ground for terrorists groups.
Terrorists actually prefer countries that are NOT lawless. They face a lot of the same logistical constraints that our military does. In lawless countries, you can't get anything done at a reasonable pace, greedy, corrupt local officials demand bribes or make your life miserable, and competing criminal organizations backstab you to gain "turf space."
Terrorists prefer organized societies with lax immigration policies and laid back cops so they can plan their schemes in peace.
all of your armchair speculation isn't worth a hill of beans, all of the corruption and drug violence IS a form of terrorism to the general public. When you think of the word terrorism, violence and corruption is just as destructive as random violent acts by religious extremists. There is no difference.
Its funny to see how we americans blame all these things on everyone else and never take responsibility for our actions... its always everyone's fault (boo hoo). If you'd stop shooting and snorting the drugs you buy from your local dealer you'd realize that you are a big part of the problem. You create the demand(drugs) and provide the incentive(money and guns) that corrupts other countries, one day very soon that which you have created will come to your city or town.
@upyours - Because the entire American population takes part in the use of drugs huh? Start being realistic and not fictitious. There is lawlessness on both sides of the border, more so in Mexico than in the United States, that, I understand. However, to say that the entirety of the issue is based on Americans, I would have to call you ignorant again.
Again, facts, it's known that the lawlessness of Mexico has extended its reach globally concerning the drug trafficking market. There's been found links between terrorist organizations in the middle east and these drug cartels impoverishing Mexico. This isn't an American issue, this is a global dilemma.
Rob99 - You got that right. Learning to be a thug and do protection rackets seems to be part of going to college in Mexico. Also murder for the enforcement of the racket. I wonder if the drug cartels send formal recruiters to the colleges to look for prospective new hires - just like companies do at American universities. Talk about a failed state......
Terrorists prefer countries that are not lawless???? Huh???
One third of Pakistan is ungoverned and just look at what Afghanistan is like.
Tell me again why we want to give these criminals a 'safe' place or a 'safe' city to come to here in the U.S.?
Arrest, detain, DEPORT!
then who will pick our fruits and vegetables? If you take Alabama as an example, there are no Americans willing to perform hard labor anymore even if it was the only sector hiring. too much arrogance in these young kids today. brought up to think that if they go to college they won't have to start at the bottom and then expect to be handed everything. People really think the OWS people really care about what's fair? Most of them are college kids ticked off they weren't offered a six figure job because they went to school to get a "business" degree.
Then you know what you do Chef80, you go to the welfare roles and find which ones are perfectly capable of working and send them out there to pick. They or these people that are perfectly happy with themselves collecting UE for 99 weeks, need to not forget what it is to earn the money that you bring in.
The unemployed should be willing to do the work...If not, they should not be able to receive any UE benifits.
i know, i'm against long term social programs for anyone. No reason to support a baby factory. If you go on a government program you should be required to take a drug test every time you come in to get a check. If you are collecting money because you keep popping out kids to stay "unemployed" tie some tubes. I'm not working to support peoples families because they don't want to work at anything other than working the system for free money. the government shouldn't need to support someone who doesn't have the common sense to keep their legs closed when they already can't afford to support themselves. I'm not talking about any kind of sexual assault, that is a totally different monster.
Chef80 I knew of an electrical crew in construction that was primarily illegals. This would have been well paid union jobs, not fruit pickers. Look around and learn before you post.
Chef80, don't step in and speak for my generation of 'young arrogant kids' and how we supposedly don't want to work. You're spewing false generalties based on what you assume you see on the news.
I'm a female, unmarried, 20-something homeowner with a bachelors degree, 2 jobs, a retirement fund and savings account-- and guess what? I'm NOT the minority. If all OWS stands for is a bunch of college kids upset they're in six figure debt and there are no jobs available, then I agree with them. That is OUR right, not yours. Don't attempt to start a tangent fight with inaccurate, dismissive and insulting garbage. You have no idea what you're talking about, so stick to the news story and not degrading my peers, whom you are not. Thanks.
If they want to waste their time and money getting a degree that is as common as a high school diploma, yes that is their decision. If they want to go to a college that costs six figures to attend and they don't have the money to pay for it, yes that is their decision. When they graduate and find that everybody and their mother has the same degree and they are all fighting for the same job at starbucks. that is their problem. you don't think it's fair? how about they do some research before deciding what college they go to and base it off of what job markets are "up and coming" and not what's "in" right now. Get the degree that will help them stand out or is better suited to the career they are looking for. And if you forgot proper use of wording, i said most not all. No there weren't any jobs for them when they graduated, the job decline didn't just happen. this is a failure on their part to not plan ahead. There are plenty of jobs available, they just have to be willing to do them, hence, my statement that they are whiners that think manual labor is beneath them. And by the way, you as a 20-something ARE part of MY generation so you can drop the "high and mighty" act. you probably just ended up at the end. you would need to be in high school to not be. Just because you were born in a different decade doesn't make you a different generation, it just makes you behind the curve. you may be in a different social generation but that's it.
BS......
this is a perfect example of "The Big Lie" (credit to Mr. Goebbels)
It's main components - as if you don't know by now, are:
1) illegals only pick vegetables
2) there are no Americans available to work anymore
Well, number one is patently false; Americans are not stupid - anyone can see where these illegals are employed in businesses all around us (like in restaurants, Mr. Chef)
and number two is a smokescreen used by employers who hire illegal workers in order to skirt federal wage and labor laws
the fact still remains Rob, that no "legal" employees stepped in to do the job. and yes Americans do know and see where illegals are employed, and those jobs get sub-conscience associated with that type of worker. If it wasn't more people would be willing to step into those jobs so they are not vacant when illegals come looking for jobs. you didn't disprove my point, BTW. "BS" isn't a fix-all for lack of argument. I know that illegals don't just pick vegetables, that was just an example based off of recent political activity. Some are very capably skilled laborers and get exploited by the fact that they are undocumented, but then you still have to take into account that they are paid more then they would earn in their home country.
I believe I made my arguments quite succinctly, my friend. I called BS on your comments, that is all. Furthermore, what illegals get paid in this country vis-a-vis what they earn back in Mexico has no bearing to unemployed Americans - they and I could frankly not care less - until it is used by employers to take advantage of these lower-paid workers and to exclude American workers to whom they would have to pay a fair wage
and as far as "legal" workers "stepping up", look what happens when companies like Tyson Foods post openings to work in their plants - there are no shortages of Americans willing to work in those jobs
Minimum wage is fair for some work, but some Americans don't think so. So Tyson foods opens a new plant and legal workers get hired?! It's a revolution, or it's a new job market in an area that didn't have that kind of work before. Those jobs weren't associated with "migrant workers" so there was no stigma attached to them. It still remains that old positions in established work markets still go unfilled after illegals leave because they are considered too low paying or too much work for the wages offered.
Obviously an employer will exploit cheap labor if it is available, but the employer wouldn't risk not hiring someone who is legal because they don't want to pay the higher price. That would possibly cause an attraction of attention to his/her hiring practice. Make the fines ridiculous and attach jail time and loss of business license. Make it so undesirable to hire illegals that there would be no reason for them to even make the trip.
On this point, You and I are in 100 per cent agreement, Chef.
I don't know if you are aware of it, but in Tyson's case, they actually were paying smugglers to deliver illegal workers across the border and to provide them with counterfeit work permits:
"a 30-month investigation, led by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, found that about 15 Tyson plants in 9 states were involved in a conspiracy from about 1994 to 2001." - NY Times, 12/20/2001.
Enforcing the laws in the workplace and harsh sanctions against employers such as Tyson Foods - with exceptions to fields such as agriculture where there are already guest-worker programs in place for migrant workers - would go a long way towards solving the so-called "immigration problem" while freeing up jobs for Americans, to boot
I find the response re: 'these darn kids nowadays' baffling. You don't have to attend a six-figure college to end up with six-figure loan debt. If you don't realize that, you are out of touch. Starting with nothing, buying books and supplies, and paying for housing and likely having to go for additional semesters adds up. Or is it in your world kids all graduate in 3.5 years because nothing ever pops up in their life that might make college take a backseat? Stupid kids shoulda planned! Maybe in their quest to "stand out" in the job market they went to a better school than the community college down the street. Now it's their fault for trying to get ahead? And not everyone is cut out for an 'up and coming' degree. When did a business degree become worthless? Those kids paid the money and tried like the rest of us-- why don't they deserve a decent job? Why should they have to settle for a job in a field, same as the guy down the street who didn't persevere through college? Where is the incentive to educate yourself, then?
If these idiot kids all have degrees, why are they fighting over jobs at Starbucks? Sounds to me like they've accepted they're not going to get the bigshot six-figure corporate job and they'll have to start at the coffee shop, degree or not. In my wildest dreams I never thought I'd see the day when people starting knocking kids for going to college. Which is ironic, because you just spewed a bunch of hateful rhetoric about welfare leeches and people who don't want to work. What is it that you want, exactly? Kids to get an education, and try and better themselves? Or say 'screw it' and live off the system? Because here's the catch-- whether you find it deplorable or not, we were told since we were in kindergarten to go to college and we would get nice, well-paying jobs. So we did, and guess what? We graduated and were told there weren't any jobs anymore. Or that there were, but they didn't provide benefits anymore. And the pay was lousy. And the position was actually the previous jobs of 3 people, condensed into one. And then when we said, 'Hey, wait a minute-- this is BS. Why did the just-fired CEO get paid a $7 million severance, and half my department got laid off from their $23k a year positions and you're not hiring replacements?' we were told that we're 'whiners' and we want 'something for nothing.' And people like you say it's somehow our fault (?!)
Aren't we allowed to be angry at that? How does that make us lazy and unwilling to work?
Darn italics. That last bit looks wonky.
But I've never met anyone who has all the answers until you, Chef80. So if you could answer those questions for me, I'd appreciate it.
OK, I'll try and clear up a few things MP, i may jump around through your post but I'll try and keep them separate so you don't get them confused.
1. A Bachelors degree in Business Management has become the new high school diploma, almost everyone gets one or is working on one. This statement only applies if a) the person decided to attend a 4 year college b) Is in the work force and working for a college degree and/or c) clueless as to the inflated value put on this particular degree. It's almost the same as getting a degree in general studies, it just proves you went to college without actually knowing what you would use the degree for and the college is more than obliged to take your money to pay for what amounts to pretty much nothing.
2. on the subject of college taking a back seat and therefor getting postponed, interupted, elongated or in any other way lengthened, There is nothing stopping them from working to pay the loans while they are "interupted". The costs should be obvious if they have to start paying on the loans while no attending classes. During that time they may, if unable to afford more debt, want to re-evaluate their situation and goals or at least the route to achieve their goals.
3. Your questions
"Those kids paid the money and tried like the rest of us-- why don't they deserve a decent job? Why should they have to settle for a job in a field, same as the guy down the street who didn't persevere through college? Where is the incentive to educate yourself, then?"
The fact that you asked why don't they "deserve" a decent job just because the attended a college is part of the problem with perceived entitlement. Thinking that you are entitled to a job for fulfilling a certain educational mark is extreme arrogance on anyone's part. Why can't you have a master's degree and work at a job that doesn't require one? I've attended college, actually at a campus not on-line, and i find there is nothing to persevere that can't be handled by a senior in high school. The academics get harder, yes but socially it's the same. you just finally have to be responsible for your own support like any other adult would be expected. The ones that are unprepared for that are the ones who's parents didn't prepare them for it. The incentive to educate yourself should be for the sake of increasing your marketability to be hired and/or to fulfill a later requirement for a position that you would hope to be awarded. I understand that there are positions that require certain degrees but as a fresh graduate most people do not qualify just because they have the degree. That is where the people that don't go to college get an edge. Employers are willing to overlook the lack of a degree if the person has pertinent "hands-on" experience. I would recommend to this years seniors to look at going to a trade school for a decent paying job and it would also reduce the amount of time spent in class and the amount of debt incurred. They can always roll some of those credits into a later degree.
4. Why the CEO got a severance and the department got the boot with a "thank you, have a nice day"? That has to do with corporate position and contractual obligations built into the system. There is not a single person in this country that is complaining about the payoff that wouldn't take it themselves. The people in the company probably all work, or worked in some cases i guess, to achieve that position for that very reason or one similar. That kind of "farewell, thanks for trying" severance is built into EVERY CEO position. It's called a perk.
5. the fighting over a job at starbucks was to illistrate the fact that it didn't matter whether they had a degree or not, they were still competing for the same jobs as those without.
6. Your run-on question pertaining to being told to go to college, not having jobs, job consolidation, no benefits and crappy pay. Welcome to the real world, it's not all candy canes and gum drops. Hypothetically: If there were 10 million kids in kindergarten today, all of them being told they had to go to college. 90% of those kids actually graduate high school, 50% of those go to college and at best 75% graduate with a degree. That makes 3.375 million baby faced graduates competing for the limited amount of jobs left after consolidation and down-sizing. In a nut shell, that's about what happened. the graduates of the past few years have come out to a job market that is in recession and not getting better in the short term. However, there ARE trade jobs that nobody thought of, promoted or even considered that are drastically short-handed and still pay $18-$36 an hour.
7. My comments about social leeching and the like. I do not appreciate that my tax dollars are wasted on people that abuse the system. Do i support unemployement, welfare, WIC and free health care for kids? Yes; but, i do not believe that any of those should last more than 5 years (except children's health care coverage, that can last until they turn 18). It might be me personally, but i don't think that we as a taxpaying society should be forced to pay for people that would rather pop another kid out to get a check than actually go to work. Those are the "leeches" i refer to. There should be an incentive for them to educate themselves in a marketable trade along with assistance to do so. I would rather pay for them to learn to support themselves then pay for them to sit at home wallowing in self pity.
I think i covered everything. I'm sure you will let me know if i didn't. I don't claim to know everything and i don't mean to imply that i do. What i do know is that the bail-outs went to the wrong people, all of the bail-outs. And that this country is worse off for it. This might be what sparked off the "what about me" syndrome that has manifested itself and for the most part, rightfully so. You want to make changes? 2012 is election year, make it happen. but regardless of who you vote for, we as a country must live with the consiquences of that choice. Just like we are now.
Chief 80: You make perfect sense. Unfortunately the excellent comments you made fell on many deaf ears, or rather some didn't bother to read it, as it hit too close to home. Well done, and 100% true.
Chef80; Right on the nail except for one thing. The trades have lost a foothold as illegals make up the majority of the workforce. Know the trades well. Never worked for a developer because they all do things on the cheap. Illegals work for less, are paid less and on top of everything workmanship is shoddy. I always tell folks in Southern Arizona not to buy a house built after 1970. You folks further up are now crying because it now affects you! Down here we got decades worth of headaches from illegals. Learned to live with it because you folks further north didn't care because it was somewhere else. Not any more! Welcome to the club! What gets me is how deep into debt college graduates sink! For me, it was college on a full scholarship or nothing. I busted my ass to earn that scholarship, worked alongside illegals doing $hit labor to cover the costs the scholarship didn't. Failure was not an option as it meant a one-way ticket back to the 'hood. Never knew a credit card, loan, etc. Cash and cash only. Even today, if I ain't got the cash to pay twice over, it ain't gettin' bought. Social leeching is what gets me the most. Especially those recipients who aren't supposed to be here! Getting back to the post subject, in Mexighanistan everyone wants to get in the strong-arm business like the Cartels. Mexico's so corrupt that the only folks making any real money are those involved in criminal activity. I know how the Game, as we call it here along the Arizona/Mexighanistan border better than any posting here and most playing it from both sides of the line and both sides of the law. Got relatives on both sides of the line and both sides of the issue. Do any of you? Got decades of real working experience, do any of you? Anyhow, Mexico's cancer is deep into the core worse than ever before. Protection/extortion rules and nothing short of it. It's like a lifestyle now. If you're not a Gamer (El Juego) you're nothing. And that includes kids!! Just like Rap, tons of folks hate it, but they sure as hell like to wear the hat to the side, ass-out pants, associate the appearance, etc. Well in Mexighanistan it's the same thing except for the violence over the mighty dollar earned by someone else! Got Narco music up the ass there and here just like the gangster rap in the US. Go figure!
But... but... if you only legalized snacks, then the violence would disappear!
...oh wait, nevermind.
Actually, the problem in Mexico is that the government is likely paid off by these "student groups" to look the other way. Mexico is like a Spanish speaking version of Russia.....not to be confused with what will happen in this country if the proponents of the "laissez-faire" fairy tale get their way.....this is what happens when the government does NOTHING....about ANYTHING....
TJP--You took the words right out of my mouth.
If there is no law and order as well, then yes, there will still be crime associated with legal practices. You do comprehend that, right?
Somebody obviously doesn't understand how a protection racket works...
The level of violence in Mexico is stunning.
then you obviously weren't following the situation there for a few years. nothing about this is surprising. violent adults = violent children.
Yes, and it is only getting worse. Very sad as many of the Mexican citizens are truly great people who only want to have a peaceful and safe life and are proud of their country. There is just so much corruption infused in every part of their government that these gangs and thugs can grow and do whatever they please. This is starting to flow more and more over our borders. When are we going to say enough is enough and impose sanctions there? That would change the governments attitudes if their biggest (legal) cash cow is gone.
PocketClam: Until America stops buying product from Mexighanistan it will continue. De-criminalizing pot will not do anything as the Cartels have already got influence over the majority of domestically (US) grown weed here. They know that Mexican weed for the most part can't compete with the quality of US grown weed. The folks fighting south of the line are the dogs fighting for the scraps. The real Cartel guys became US citizens twenty years ago thanks to Yankee dollars. On top of everything they know that the bottom line is users will buy from an illegal source as it will be cheaper. What everybody doesn't know is the now US Pot Cartels won't be able to compete with the dogs south of the line as they're losing too much on moving pot north of the line that they're going to meth. Arivaca, the Southwest's meth capital is proof. The days of moving pot north is converting to tar and meth and cocaine in that order. The cartels south of the line know that de-criminalizing of pot in the US is not an impossibility. They know that heroin and meth will not be de-criminalized in our lifetime. Experience sure puts a spine to an opinion. Got decades of it. Do any of you?
People still think it's a good idea to let these people get into OUR country illegally and reap OUR benefits? Cut all benefits for anyone not a citizen, work with foreign insurance providers to provide care for foreign citizens, free health care for U.S. children and amend the "if you were born here you are a citizen" to read "if you were born of at least one legal and documented immigrant or natural/converted citizen you are a citizen". that would eliminate the "baby anchor" excuse to cross the border illegally and promote legal crossings. Of course traveling to visit family won't count, they would actually have to go through legitimate immigration channels, not just visit across the border.
Chef... you are total moron and an ignorant at that, inform yourself before posting the garbage you hear from the rest of your skinhead buddies. There are no "benefits to reap", you make it sounds like the undocumented are buying mansions on food stamps.
oh, so they come for the view? They get free health care and education. those are not benefits? I'm not a skinhead and i have no "buddies" that are. And don't worry, I'm also tired of my tax money going to social leeches camping down at the welfare office too, so it's not specifically just illegals. i don't think ANYONE deserves free money for no reason over a long period of time. There are even jobs for the handicap to work from home. And the fact that you used two words that basically mean the same thing to try and insult me only proves that you fail to have a good argument ready before your fingers went off.
They build mansions on food stamps, in my nieghborhood I've seen shacks transformed into villas, alll you need is 13 family members all with a construction trade living with you and then the food stamps turn into thousands of dollars a month and mansions get built.
upyoures2011, nicely said!
upyours2011, see rule # 1 of the Code of Honor.
Worlds largest open air zoo?
Mexico is sure corrupt for having Christian Hermitage...
Know the truth and you will be set free, we all have problems cause the lack of knowledge. just read the comments and there is a lot ignorance.
USA have more problems than any other country, you just probably ignoring the facts.
The groups are "semiformal" Does that mean they dress nicely at parties?
My New Year resolution is to learn self-defense in all ways by all possible means.
Don't forget the concealed weapon either. It's all ready here. I am so glad they are sharing this rich cultural heritage as we did not have enough all ready.
Jerry brown of california just in acted the Dream Act in california for illegal immigrant's for education???
2bad: Don't forget that now the Hispanic vote can make or break a Presidental election! When everyone's pockets are empty the Hispanics got the cash (not plastic) to the point that Walmart, Sears, Target and K-Mart have made marketing changes to get that mighty dollar. Anyone who currently holds a public office would be stupid to ignore that. Piss 'em off and Jerry's out on the street. Lobbysits representing cheap labor demand that our gutless politicians take a permanent siesta on the subject. Bought and paid for like any Mexican politico.
Students killing over protection money for snack vendors at high schools? Mexico is the place we should be invading, not the Middle East.
I would rather U.S. troops going to Mexico, right next door, rather than some foreign Middle East country whose people don't even know why we are there.
For those of you who think Mexicans are "baby factories." Well it will lessen immigration further if the country they're in is in a better state.
I am a Mexican- American 4th generation and I totally agree with you. Im petrefied to even think of going to visit that foresaken place!
Erndoggy, ashamed of your roots are you? You're a freaking embarrasment Vato. Ten orgullo pendejo. Estos pinches gavachos piensan que son mejor que todo el mundo. Tambien hablo Apache huey. I'm not embarrassed of where my ancestors came from fool.
Chuckster, you should be embarrased. Mexico is a sh*t hole and so are the low lifes in it. I say bring home our troops and let them take out the garbage down south.
Craz moron 34, If you're not embarrassed of where you came from, why should anyone in Mexico be. I don't know what race you are and personally don't give a "F". I am native american. Apache from southern New Mexico. Most of us speak spanish also dumb ass. Not everyone in Mexico is a low life. I know many people and I would trade them for your sorry ass any day of the week. To blame every Mexican for their odvious problems is not only stupid but also reduculous. Why don't you crawl back into your little hole before you lose your scalp you coward S.O.B. You want soldiers to come take care of a problem for you. A real man would join and help take care of the problem you belly worthless piece of @!$%#.
All who call for invading Mexico, will you be the first one to attack? Will you sit it out and let your kids invade? Would you like to put out more tax dollars to install a government like the money used in Iraq? I say we clean house here first! Can't defeat what's outside wanting in until you've cleaned what's already inside the castle. Don't want rats? Why give them a reason to come? Qwell the need, America can succeed. Chowchig, how are you going to tell the difference? Papers don't cut it down here. You'd be surprised at how many Americans of Hispanic lines south of the border don't speak English. You'd be surprised at how many places English has no place or need. I'm talking about multiple generations of Americans that have no need for English. There's places here that it's a rarity to speak English. YES! Here in the US!! It will be no different than the problems Israel has with it's Muslim population. Think about what you're asking for. Only ignorance would ask for an invasion. LOL!! And unlike Israel, the Hispanics make up the 2nd or 3rd largest ethnicity in the US. Invade a country that has a border most legal and illegal don't recognize? What a joke! A bad one at that! Remember the Gadsen Purchase? Well let me enlighten you about the vast majority of American Hispanics of Mexican heritage who've been Americans by birth longer than many of your grand parents. They've never recognized such a line that divides them from their family and relatives! Unlike all of you, I've got decades of real working experience on the subject, know it well from both sides of the line, both sides of the law, both sides of the issue. Got relatives and family on both sides of the line and in the most violent areas too. I've never had a problem down in 'el otro lado' because I know how Mexighanistan works! I know how the system operates and who's doing it. Posters here only know what the bought-and-paid-for media will tell you. Basically nothing! I know it better than any posting here and better than many living in Mexico! Conosco el juego wuy bien. Gotta understand the culture of mordida has always been a majority slice of the pie. You folks believe that the Game (as we deep in the loop call it) has been around for decades. Centuries!! Absolutely, Mexico sucks to the max. Nothing more than a tipped over porta-john with a line of folks waitin' to use it. Problem is no one wants to right it. Instead they'll just take a dump in the alley. Pretty soon there's $hit all over the place. Gotta start with Calderon. To most, he's seen as just another Cartel. Gotta remember, it's his side that robs the citizens when no Rateros (crooks) are found in town. Cartels are being seen in better light than Calderon. Like all before him, he's ignored rural areas for the cities. Therein lies his problem. If only he'd not shortchanged the Army like he did his cops when he ran D.F. Gotta remember, his D.F. (Mexico City) cops were some of the richest and weren't even on the payroll! So asking for an invasion only indicates how much out of the loop you are. Gotta start with the leader of that culture, that being Calderon. Experience on the subject sure puts a spine to an opinion. Get some of your own, your words will mean more.
Some of these journalist really need to get a clue. Rough and Tumble? Really? My kids are Rough and Tumble. Murder of college students and families, protection money and murder for selling snacks outiside campus. Thats not Rough and Tumble, thats extortion and capital crimes.
Gotta remember that ALL newspukes have a limited lifespan in Mexighanistan hence the resulting story. Also remember that the folks making any real money are involved in criminal activity, especially kids!! Mexico has ALWAYS been a corruption culture! Problem is it's biggest flaw is in it's leader, Calderon. Cartels have ALWAYS been allowed to do business as long as the President got a piece of the pie. Calderon came to realize the enormity of wealth being made feeding the needs of American users of Mexican product. He not only wanted the whole pie, he wanted the baker, oven and bakery. He wanted total control of the American market. A first. No way were the Cartels gonna give up the whole game. They'll fight to the last man! Another first. If Calderon hadn't shortchanged his Army he wouldn't be fighting the Zetas today. Had the Gulfos not mistakenly killed off some of their best contractors (the Zetas) they wouldn't be fighting the Zetas either. It's an image similar to the US rappers with their gangster scene. Gotta belong to a crew to mean anything except in Mexighanistan they kill for the mighty dollar/peso earned by someone else. Kids in Mexico are getting that act down too! The young population is getting the best education on how to get what they want. After all, Calderon and his side, and the Cartels are their best teachers! Here's the kicker, the Cartels are being seen in better light than Calderon's side. Calderon knows this because it is his side that robs and pillages the town's citizens when his folks fail to find any Rateros (crooks) and take it out on the citizens. Journalists no longer want to be in Mexighanistan longer than absolutely necessary. Remember, what would get you the death chamber here in the US will get you freedom in Mexico with the right connection of funds. Unfortunately, Mexico's young are being well educated in how the game is played. History has shown that the younger, the more brutal they are in that kind of arena. The above info comes from having spent mucho time there, more than any posting here and more than most newspukes. Know the workings of Mexighanistan very well as I have relatives and family on both sides of the border, both sides of the issue and both sides of the law. Guarantee very few newspukes, if any, have access to folks like that! Experience in the subject sure adds a spine to an opinion like no other. Get some!
Wonder how long before our govt decides we should send in troops and throw tons of money their way...
train um young then bring them across the border where we can support their young baby fatories. What the hell is this world coming to anyway ?
Time to call in the conquistadors for a cleanup.
Funny thing is we leave our border open with Mexico, but shun Cuba.
Mexico is well on it's way to devolving back to it's more primitive roots.
Once I thought that Mexico would be a nice place to retire..I changed my mind.
Headline in next weeks paper. Police discover tunnel crossing into California, seize 12 tons of Little Debbie products and 2 tons of twinkies.
There's enough pot-heads there to help sniff THAT transaction out. Munchies anyone? LOL
Mexicans always go HARD.
Interesting article...
It seems that the "FRITO BANDITO", that old Wall Street Advertising CAmpaign Character is "totally for real" now.
Gee-If only we Americans we more tolerant and understanding, these incidents wouldn't happen. But, don't worry all of this is coming to a neighborhood near you, compliments of Obama and your American Goverment.
We need more diversity!!
KC: We need more diversity? The only way the United States could be more diverse is if Martians landed and decided to take up residence here!
