For many in the besieged country, life has become a humanitarian disaster. NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin reports.
Syrian government forces have deployed tanks in the streets and are bombing indiscriminately in the city of Homs, according to a BBC correspondent on the scene.
The BBC’s Paul Wood, who is reporting from the outskirts of Homs with anti-government forces, described the mood as one of “despair” as the city comes under the heaviest bombardment so far in a five-day assault.
Activists claim hundreds have been killed in the violence, from 40 to 100 on Wednesday alone, though their reports have not been independently verified.
Wood is one of the few Western news reporters inside Syria, where the government tightly controls access to news. He said many people in the city are hiding in their homes, too afraid to leave.
The aid group Doctors Without Borders quoted Syrians as saying that many wounded civilians are unable to get adequate medical treatment — in part because security forces have taken over many public hospitals, The Associated Press reported.
The aid group released a video in Paris on Wednesday showing interviews with 10 wounded Syrians and 5 Syrian doctors who have fled the nation.
Group: Militia 'slaughtered' 3 families in Syria's Homs
With diplomacy stalled, the bloodletting in the Syrian city of Homs continues. Syrian forces continue its relentless attack on the city of Homs. Snipers are the new terror in the city, and hospitals are running short of supplies. ITN's Paul Davies reports.
The unidentified witnesses said many wounded are afraid to go to hospitals for treatment, knowing that Syrian authorities could arrest them and subject them to interrogation or even torture. Instead, some get whatever treatment they can in private clinics or makeshift hospitals in homes.
Doctors Without Borders, which is not authorized to work in Syria, said it could not independently confirm the Syrians' accounts.
The onslaught on Homs has not relented despite a promise to end the bloodshed that Syrian President Bashar Assad gave to Russia.
Testimonies from injured people and doctors from across Syria were collected by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) staff between January 30 and February 6, 2012. MSF is not authorized to operate inside Syria at present and thus is unable to fully verify the information collected here.

US shutters embassy in Syria, withdraws all personnel
A Western and Arab backed draft resolution calling for Assad to cede power to his deputy failed in the United Nations Security Council after Russia and China vetoed the move on Saturday.
The United Nations' top human rights official called on Wednesday for urgent international action. Navi Pillay, High Commissioner for Human Rights, said he was "appalled by the Syrian government's wilful assault on the city of Homs, and its use of artillery and other heavy weaponry in what appear to be indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas in the city."

Again Obama dithers.
Exactly, PNCUSNRET.
Shut up, seriously. Bush would have done the same thing. Ron Paul would do the same thing.
Bush who envisioned a democratic middle east would not have dithered the way this clown in office has. He would send aid to the rebels. Bush was a visionary. He was the one who said the middle east would one day be tyrant free and that freedom was gods given right. Obama? The man has no clue, no humanity at all. ALl he wants to do is take more and more power to grease his friends. Look at all the green job handouts? How is it, Obama has ties to all the heads of those companies? Disgusting.
There really isn't much he can do. This isn't Libya as he has noted. The problem with any US intervention will later work against us as we are now seeing in Egypt and Libya. Please look at how Egyptians are now treating US citizens. Please understand that the rebels in Libya were asked to give us back the bomber and they refused. So we did everything humanly possible to help the rebels, and a legitimate request to hand over a killer was denied.
Russia, is finally showing their true self which happened as well under Bush. Obama should apologize to Bush privately and publicly for casting blame on Bush for poor relations with Russia. Putin lives to stick the US in the eye no matter who is in the WH.
Hello folks, when will we discard our Imperialistic mindset? If you can't see that we are the instigators in most of the world's wars and displacement of millions of people who are fleeing our aggression, than you are in denial and are not paying attention. We need to stay out of other country’s civil disputes. I hope we aren’t going to go against the United Nations vote earlier this week and unilaterally go into Syria under the pretext that we need to stop the violence like we did in Libya. General Wesley Clark has stated that a Syria invasion has been pre-planned for quite awhile.
Friday, March 25, 2011
General Wesley Clark: "America will take out 7 countries in 5 years"
According to Former NATO supreme allied commander, former presidential candidate and 4 star US General Wesley Clark that they had received a memo that America is going to take out 7 countries in the Middle East in 5 years starting with Iraq, Libya, Syria Lebanon Sudan and Somalia, seeing what's going on today in Libya but also in Syria where violent protest just erupted, it is amazing how these things that were planned years ago are being achieved in front of our eyes.
Why is it other countries feel like they have to defend their territory? Could it be that they know we have no problem invading their sovereignty just as we have done to countless other countries. Since World War II, 90% of the casualties of war are unarmed civilians. 1/3 of them children. Our victims have done nothing to us. From Palestine to Afghanistan to Iraq to Somalia to wherever our next target may be, their murders are not collateral damage, they are the nature of modern warfare. They don't hate us because of our freedoms. They hate us because every day we are funding and committing crimes against humanity. The so-called "war on terror" is a cover for our military aggression to gain control of the resources of western Asia.
This is sending the poor of this country to kill the poor of those Muslim countries. This is trading blood for oil. This is genocide, and to most of the world, we are the terrorists. In these times, remaining silent on our responsibility to the world and its future is criminal. And in light of our complicity in the supreme crimes against humanity in Iraq and Afghanistan, and ongoing violations of the U.N. Charter in International Law, how dare any American criticize the actions of legitimate resistance to illegal occupation.
We are going into Syria for a couple of reasons, one, we are trying to dislodge Russia from there because they have a foothold in the Middle East via two military bases in Latakia and Tartus in Syria. Two, Syria is a strong ally of Iran. If we invade Syria we take out a strong ally and maybe incite Iran to assist giving the U.S. the reason they are looking for to attack Iran. The ultimate goal is to surround, weaken and to invade Iran. The petro dollar is at stake as other countries are switching to other forms of currency in buying Iran’s oil.
Since the Russian war in 1828, Iran has never attacked another country. We on the other hand have attacked to name a few:
Libya, Iran, Nicaragua, Haiti, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Angola, Mozambique, Honduras, Chile, Congo, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, Angola, Columbia, Peru, Panama, Yemen, Pakistan, Grenada, Mexico, etc..
Wake up people we are being herded down the Military Industrial Complex gauntlet again to another false war to enrich the greedy Corporations and distract the American people. Did we not learn anything from the Iraq war where we have killed well over 1 million Iraqi people, lost thousands of American lives and God knows how many hundreds of billions of dollars?
Who do you support, humanity or the greedy elite?
Many of our soldiers don't fight for America, they fight for their lives and their buddies beside them, because we put them in a war zone. They're not defending our freedoms, they're laying the foundation for permanent military bases to defend the freedoms of Exxon Mobil and British Petroleum.
Face it we're Imperialists pure and simple. The elite look down on all of us as expendable chattel.
"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy" Henry Kissinger
I’m not asking you to hate war but to love peace. War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!
TrustVerify, you need to look up the definition of "Imperialist" because you clearly do not understand the concept.
We either engage in world events to secure our own interests and those of our friends or you turn in on yourself and ignore requests for help, neither is imperialism and one is the way of cowards.
Only a fool would make a big public display (the old, shoot yer mouth off with nothing in mind to back it up, ploy).
Our President is not 'dithering', and neither is the State Department.
It's interesting to see HOW these Obama haters try to turn everything and anything into an opportunity to throw stones at Obama! We all know WHY they do it! And, HOW they do it just reinforces people with complete brains to give President Obama the same number of years (8) as the Obama haters gave the idiot we had before who got us into this mess - with his pals help and money.
Oh please, if he sent troops in you would criticize him anyway. Stop pretending there's anything he could possibly do to make you happy.
Yes. He envisioned that he could bankrupt America and get away scot free. And he was correct.
Guess this tells you how bad Obama thinks the decision to go into Libya was. More civilians are at risk in Syria, but now the warmonger does not do anything. Could it be that we totally screwed things in Libya for the US. It appears we have also screwed ourselves in Iraq and Afghanistan also. Just shows you what gunboat diplomacy does, it creates enemies.
BAHAHA....Bush was an in-visionary...hahahaha. Sseriously I can't stop laughing. That made my day!!! Thanks Alan!
I wish you people would make up your mind. Libya was a mistake, even though NATO supported them. Syria is a mistake because NATO is not supporting them. The hypocrisy of the Right is making my head spin. The Arabs have the capability to go in there and stop this; why is it our problem anyway? Dictators suck. Are we supposed to overthrow every one of them? Are you ready to pay 50% or higher taxes and reinstate the draft to do it?
I swear, the water you guys are drinking must be polluted with fracking fluid.
I was against us going into Syria, but I'm having a change of heart after seeing these pictures. I think the reason the President is "dithering" is because of what's happening in Libya. Besides, Syria is strategically next to Jordan and Lebanon. If NATO/US start bombing Syria, oh holy war!
alan-2014309 - So, Bush was a visionary? And you believe he would have aided the rebels? Please! Aid to the rebels in Syria (a Russian client state) would escalate quickly to "boots on the ground". Of course that wouldn't be a problem for Bush. Think of those lucrative "no bid" DoD contracts. Why don't you admit it; the right-wing is going crazy because we're winding down in Afghanistan. Bush couldn't get Osama ben Laden and gave up looking for him (wanted dead or alive?). Perhaps you should go back to FOX News (oxymoron) where you can simply nod your head in agreement.
It would just be the US, because NATO doesn't want to get involved.
Newsflash: The Arab League has military capability. Where are they? They've condemned this. It's happening in their backyard, to one of their nations. Let them send their kids in to get killed for a change.
What's more, I haven't seen Congress approve a war in Syria yet. We saw the fuss that the Right made the last time over that. The President is not stupid. If Congress says go, maybe we get action. If not, "it's illegal for us to fight a war for longer than 60 days without Congressional approval," which they would never give the President.
This is terrible, the world, including us, is going to sit around and watch these people get slaughtered in Syria ! And how about the nearby Arab countries ? I guess this is just another walk in the park for the surrounding Arab Nations, a dictator killing civilians and babies is OK by them, they've done it for over a thousand years.
This post is hilarious. Obama and higher ups do not tell you what they will do. They have a million different contingency plans.
Bush got us into a war that was all his in Iraq. Wich did nothing but help bankrupts America and leave it just as bad as it was. Sadaam was a bad guy. But they have more civilians dying now then before. They now have Iran in there.
And I bet the OP and those that agree also want to make sure taxes are lowered. So we can, you know, not afford another war that doesn't involve us. Libya had world support. We did not send in a single troop on the ground. lost no one. And did our part and let other countries like france and the Arab league finish it off. Syria is different in their allies. Russia and China would support the Syrian government and we would baically end up in a proxy war with them. But thats fine as long as Obama is the president. Cause even if it means destroying the country. No matter what world even is happening. The right will take the opposite side. If Obama could piss gold. The right would say gold is not important but we need platinum instead.
So lets get another war and lower taxes again. Your GOP
alan,
"Bush who envisioned a democratic middle east would not have dithered the way this clown in office has. He would send aid to the rebels. Bush was a visionary"
Yes, Bush was a visionary, but his vision was not very good. He got us into two wars that have cost us trillions of dollars and thousands of dead Americans, one of which we had no business getting into to begin with (Iraq) and that we just recently managed to get out of, and the other of which we are still now trying to get ourselves out of (Afghanistan). Who needs vision like that?
Bush was not noted for his foresight, since his presidency he has been mostly quiet about his hindsight. Wisely, he is waiting for the games he started to play out to their inevitable conclusion; Not a Democratic Muslim society but a United Islamic Brotherhood coalition.
As Obama has said, Syria is not Libya. Russia has much stronger ties with Syria and NATO military intervention in Syria would lead to a confrontation the likes of which have not been seen since the Cold War.
Damn it! What's the heck is wrong with the Arab League? Too damn afraid to send THEIR troops in harms way for THEIR Arab brothers? Yes, it's revolting to see and heard these stories here in America but it should be revolting to see and heard these stories anywhere in the Arab world too. Where's their Armies and Air Forces? It's not as if they have to travel far or don't have the money. Heck, the only Arabic & Islamic nation in NATO is ON Syria's border....Turkey.
And as for you 'people' that are blaming Obama, Bush, Mickey Mouse, etc. It's not the current administration or a past administration. It's not Republican or Democrat. The US can't afford (politically or financially) to send troops.
Crap, if the Arab League or Turkey can't help, then maybe Israel can. [sarc]
This is why we call him the "Butcher of Homs" and not "Mr. President".
Ever wonder why 99% of the violence in the world is now Muslim on Muslim? Everywhere you look there are Muslims killing each other. I say let them continue! Every single Muslim willing to pick up a gun, machete or explosive and kill another Muslim is another terrorist in the making. If they would kill their own, they sure as heck would not hesitate to kill a non-Muslim.
It's not about oil. The US has in excess of 50,000 proven and capped oil wells. We are going to use the oil from all of the other countries and when theirs is all gone, we will be the only ones left with oil to burn! I'd be willing to pay $10 per gallon of gas to run the others dry.
Muslims are like pit bulls, they chew off the hand that feeds them. Help Syria's Muslims today and get blown up by them tomorrow. They say history repeats itself for a reason, IT REPEATS ITSELF.

Try educating yourself instead of partaking in ignorant Obama-bashing. He has condemned Assad but is hesitant to involve the military like he did in Libya. What more do you want? Do you want him to send in the troops so you can complain about that instead?

As for this: "Bush was a visionary. He was the one who said the middle east would one day be tyrant free and that freedom was gods given right." You're joking, aren't you? Who presided over the fall of Mubarak, Gaddafi, and bin Laden? Obama. Who presided over two unilateral illegal invasions of sovereign countries under fals pretences? Bush. Perhaps you should rethink who the better President is.
Before we get all "Weepy Eyed" over this rememember that these "Rebels" and the Army killing them now were both dancing in the street after 9/11...they are not our friends and they don't want Democracy...they just want "Their Guy" to be able to turn the tables and squash their rivals.
Bush goes into the Middle East and the radical neo nazi liberals of the democratic party go berserk - Obama stumbles his way from one disaster to the next in the Middle East and suddenly now you assume the role apologists for his mis-steps and blunders throughout the middle east from Tunisia, to Egypt, to Iraq, to Libya and now of course he will get involved in Syria. Obama is simply a disaster - unfortunately not waiting to happen but in full operational mode.
What is wrong with you right wing morons? If President Obama even attempts to go into Syria with China and Russia against it and not to mention the right wing in this nation will stomp on him. Just like they did when he decided to intervene in Lybia. You cannot have it both ways, "dithering" what ignorant morons. As for the Neo-Nazi liberal label its obvious you have no idea what any of those labels even mean you ignoramus.
OBAMA 2012 / DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS 2012
Here's an Idea Syrian rebels. Ask Israel's help. They have a professional Army & one of the top Air Force's in the world. And they are close by.
But wait........You hate them ..............
Does the Right Wing have a problem with Israel straightening out their neighbor??? Or do they simply want the US to be in endless wars to profit the 1%????
The Syrians had no qualms when it came to supporting terrorist that attacked and killed Americans and now they want American to supply them arms. The Rebels started this Civil War, let them either be victorious or fade away by their own hands. The U.S. should stay away from Syria and let it be known that if you support terrorist in any way shape or form, you will get no assistance from the U.S.. The Syrian Rebels should have expected mass causalities when they tried to attack a much stronger and better armed force. Now the Rebels either have to give up their Civil War or face annihilation. The U.S. can no longer give money to countries that support those that attack the U.S. and its allies.
Why don't the Arab Nations save their own "brothers and sisters"?.
They sit on their duff in tents, or Palaces, watching this happen, yet at the UN they all agree that something should be activated to stop the carnage. Who does the UN want to stop this havoc?
They have always been talkers. They don't care about their own people. It's all for one and one for all.
If the US waits for the Syrians to stop the slaughter, generations will pass. It is up to the Arab Countries to take care of their own.
I think Libya was a mistake and if we do anything with Syria it will be a mistake. Countries have to govern themselves and if it leads to civil war then all we should do is give equal humanitarian aid to both sides. Outside governments shouldn't decide what is best for a country because what works in one country won't work in another.
The US should NEVER have been in the business of putting people into power. See Osama, Sadam and many others for proof.
But Obama has strong words for Syria much like his strong stance against Iran.
Seems like his stance against Iran increasing, I guess if we dont just start bombing right away at every single problem in the world then we are doing things wrong. Dont worry about what can happen after, dont worry about how many US Serviceman may die, dont worry about how the rest of the world will treat us. Don't worry about paying for the wars. We will just lower taxes and cut education and take money from the poor. Just make sure bomb first ask questions later. And if we are stuck there for 10 years and lose a few thousand Americans and a Trillion dollars only to leave and realize the people there still hate us, and it wont change anything.
Bomb baby Bomb. Lower my taxes, be hypocritical when we go into Libya saying that we lead from the back and didnt do it right. yet it was over in less then 6 months, 0 casualties US. Diplomacy and ways of trying to avoid war are good things. Maybe as a vet of Afghanistan, a place I think we needed to go after 9/11, I get a little frustrated when people sitting at there computer just think war is first and only choice. When people like me, and my brothers are the ones that will have to fight whatever war we want to jump into. I am all for fighting for my country. And defending it. And if my government calls on me when I was enlisted I would do what needed to be done. But let my life mean something other then personal politics. Which is why I did not re-enlist after 6 years and 13 months in Afghanistan when I knew I would have been going to Iraq next which was not where I wanted to possibly die for some mans personal war.
Even though I am out of the military. I can still be called back. So just remember when people want to just bomb first. And not use it after other things fail. Those numbers of dead that you hear about. Are real people. Not just numbers or names somewhere.
No again the UN is at the mercy of the veto vote in the security council. The veto voting power by the so called super powers needs to be revoked then smaller countries could set about getting the job done.
So lets turn the UN over to minor dictators like the ones in Syria, Iran, and N Korea, good plan.
I am sure things would be much better!
ScoMata,
Most of the countries in the UN are dictatorships. They control the General Assembly.
ScoMata1964
Wow sarcastic much? So sit back and tell me how Iran or Syria or N. Korea could out vote a majority? The veto power of China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, and United States is borne from post-world war II politics. Too many times their veto power has been used to block what the majority of countries in the world are in favor of, the Syria being the latest.
The UN is at the mercy of the political whim of these 5 countries.
I'm surprised the UN has lasted as long as it has. Maybe once some nations get fed up and start withdrawing it'll wither away just like its predecessor.
I agree with China and Russia on this one. Syria needs to solve their own internal problems without interference from the outside.
The last thing that oppressive Russia and China want is for their citizens to get "outside help" in pursuit of democracy and human rights. Their leaders don't like the thought of it, and want to nip such undertakings in the bud, everywhere. Glad you concur.
How do you know they want democracy? They don't even know what it is. These people in Syria (I can't call them Syrians since I am not sure who they are or what they stand for) saw what we did for Libya, and expect us to do the same for them. This might not of ever happened if we left Libya alone.
We see what is going on in Egypt now, complete anarchy. Russia is smart enough to know a leaderless country is a very dangerous country.
When Americans first wanted democracy, how did WE know what it was? Who had enjoyed it? And if you read my post again, I didn't say that Syrians wanted democracy. I said that Russia and China don't want THEIR citizens getting outside help in attaining it, hence their stand on Syria getting it. It would set an additional precedence for the same.
We can't afford to get involved with Syria. The US has its own starving people in need of food and medical care. We have bridges and roads and schools that need rebuilding. What are we doing dumping boat loads of money on the rich brats in charge in the middle east?
marlene10191917...who do you think sells the arms and munitions to Syria?
War is profitable....and also profitable for our (still going strong) USA military industrial complex.
They've still done well during this bad time for working class Americans.
Nikolaus20
Ya .....Not sure what you are getting at......We had outside help....The French......So no.....You aren't making a bunch of sense...
allow them to find their own salvation ... Star Trek's prime directive of non-interference makes sense ... on more lighter note ... you got'em smoke'em ... have a great day people ... let love rain down on you :)
Didnt Obama bomb Libya and Somalia and Yemen and Pakistan? Why stop now?
Oh come on, Kirk and his crew ALWAYS interfered. (Easy for them though, every planet that they beamed down to only had 20 lifeforms living on it.)
The Star Trek prime directive is fantasy and does not apply here on Earth anyway because it was about not interfering with entire alien civilizations that were nowhere near as advanced as the federation.
This is not about how technologically advanced they are anyway, and when there wer cries for help, the prime directive was usually ignored.
As one of our founders once said, sometimes doing the right thing is not a luxury we can not afford
Alan - very bitter bro - relax :) - think every president in history would do the same - we think they have power but not really - military industrial complex is cash and cash is king my friend
Niko - you are right lol - they always ignored the prime directive :) - nevertheless i am firm believer in the directive - too bad i can't convince my in-laws lol
Sco - totally understand where you are coming from :) However, in my humble opinion i think we need to be consistent e.g. - Tibet's been crying for years, Rwanda, Darfur - unfortunately - no significant value.
Play Fortunate Son - cool song and so very true even today
We need to establish a world war zone. This war zone would be in a remote location and only combatants would be allowed on the field. Spectators could view from bleachers or cliffs. Sponsors and halftime advertisors would be welcome to pay for ads. The whole shebang could be televised so more ads could be sold. One great big money maker. Win-Win.
I'm a peace loving person but if two sides want to go to the death that ought to be their right to do so. My problem is when old ladies, little kids, women and boys, and innocent animals get trapped in the fray. Having a designated war area would eliminate this problem.
So, Buffetts of the world and arms dealers how's about getting this plan going??? "There's plenty good money to be made supplying the army with tools of the trade."
obama needs to arm the free syrian army but he afraid russia get mad because putin is strong person and he would make our president look like wet school girl with legs spread wide open waiting for further ramming. He in past appeased russia alot and gave up our allies in eastern europe tossing them aside and got nothing in return please obama dont be weak give weapons to those rebels
Right, because the strategy of arming rebels in other countries has never blown up in America's face.
no planning, no thinking, no winning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What did the Rebels think? some one would come and fight their war for them?Maybe next time they will pick an enemy they can defeat?
All they need is 1 sniper to take out Assad and game over.
I asked my conscience, "What should we do?" It said "Well, if the situation was reversed, would they help you?" I answered "No, the middle eastern Muslims hate us. They're not even grateful when we help them." My conscience said "There you go...I'm clear!"
I agree...about the most I would do is MAYBE send them a hardhat or something to put on their domes...
Fighting for independance is tough, and it is not up to the UN to determine who "is" or who "is not" in power in a sovereign nation. Either quit whinning and fight (knowing that you may may have to pay the ultimate price for your countries freedom) or throw in the towel and surrender or leave the country. It is always easier to start a conflict and then come crying to the UN asking for someone else's blood to be shed for your insurrection. Then more often than not the "freed" country turns around and "bites" those who helped them obtain their freedom.
I dont want to be a hard ass, but what were they thinking when they tried to bring down the government? Assad is not a nice guy and they had to know he would be brutal on them. Having said that, perhaps they thought the beacon of freedom across the ocean would come to their rescue? First, I find it interesting how when we interfere we are told to mind our own business. However, when they need help, they come screaming for help, and after the crisis has ended, they tell us to go to hell. Meanwhile can any of you ahole liberals answer me this question? WHen Libya was going through their revolution, Obama told us we were helping the people for humanitarian reasons. Well? Syrian people are getting slaughters, hundreds a day. Where the hell is your president now? The man is so full of garbage is repulsive.
Are you never happy? If he took us into Syria you would be enraged. If we stay out you are an a-hole about that as well. So you may as well say that you are a con a-hole that can't be made happy until the corporate powers(the cons) are back in office. Then anything they do, be it bring the world to near economic collapse, start contrived wars with nations using manufactured evidence, and you are ecstatic. And by the way, like it or not, President Obama is your president as well, unless you renounce your citizenship. Please renounce now.
Maybe the U.N. should apply international sanctions on Syria (if Russia and China concur).
if the occupy movement brought out guns and started shooting at our military what do you think would happen? case closed.
I wish, just for 5 minutes, every last one of the OWS movement vandals in this country could spend some time in Syria...have acouple of mortars land next to their tents...They'd be sayin' OWS alright!!...when schrapnel hits them on the head! Wanna see what repression and unequality is all about?? I'll buy the plane tickets...go see firsthand how crappy life can be, then comment on why your Art major degree sucks and you can'tr find a job...bet you would crawl back into mommy and daddys basement cryin'!! Bad times over there...reminds me of Beruit back in the '80's...
send me the cash for the tickets and i will disperse it for you. trust me since i am thinking of becoming conservative (sic).
Tim, you are so incredibly ignorant and un-American it just blows my mind. Your summation of the Occupy movement sounds like something taken verbatim from Bill O'Reilly's mouth. America was built on dissent and opposition to an unfair status quo. If you hate what Occupy is doing then what you really hate is the the very principle on which your own country was built. Telling any protester to "shut up and get a job" is un-America. You and everyone like you is just pathetic.
tim doyle, lol your so right about the ows movement, some girl called into the radio station last week bitchin bout having a masters degree and not being able to find a job. she felt entitled to a good job, when the host asked her what her degree was, she replied," i have a degree in haiku" in a im so entitled type of attitude. I was shocked and couldnt stop laughing. wtf is wrong with these people. not only can they not understand that a degree in poetry will get you nowhere, they have no clue what the hell they are even doing. when i first heard about the protests, i thought, about damn time america hell yeah, its happening, until i found out their list of complaints and not only that, but the way they couldnt agree about anything, pick one thing and go for it, it should have been one thing, like replace every congressman and senator, or something like that. it seemed to work for the middle east.
It's time to sneak into his inner sanctum and shoot this SON OF A BITCH! His wife is another WHACK DELUSIONAL WHACK JOB!
OK Gloria- go for it. Just don't use my tax dollars. America is broke and we don't give a rats @$$ what happens in Syria.
That's right! F Syria!! I wouldn't pee on their leg if it was on fire! Americans first!
This is the problem. No one cares about what happens to the syrian people. Russia and China surely don't and the US apparently doesn't either. Sure, the US would love to see a democracy develop, Russia and China wouldn't really care as long as they could be assured it wasn't a pro-western one. They just don't want to take the chance.
If anyone truly cared about the people, they would do what was in their power to stop Assad from indiscriminate killing of the populace. But there is no political gain in that, so it won't happen.
Wow, that is a very harsh thing to say seeing as many that are being murdered are young children.
And America doesn't have children that need help? America doesn't have children that are starving? America doesn't have children born to drug addicted moms? America doesn't have children with serious problems? America first, please!! When our budget is balanced and we have money in the bank, THEN we can lend a hand to the rest of the world. China has all our cash, so do many "regimes" in the middle east. Let them deal with it for once!
Yes, we do and that is very unfortunate as well, but if we decide to give aid, or if we decide not to give aid all of those unfortunate things you mentioned will still exist.
I am not saying that we should shoulder all the burden but some nation should stand up for what is right. Money is not everything you know.
Give aid to a country that could give a rats ass about us. Someone posted earlier that if situations were reversed, Syria wouldn't help us...there ya go! Mind made up!They're on their own!
With Syria's army relying on a steady supply of Russian military hardware to slaughter Syrians and Russia warning against outside intervention, all Russians should wake up and realize that Putin is prepared to use deadly force against Russians who are determined to keep him from returning to power. The easiest way to kill a deadly snake is to smash its head!
I for one do not want to help the People of Syria. Most of them were in the news CHEERING when 9-11 happen. I say to them What goes around comes around. Look what we did for Egypt and Libya and see how they treat us!!!!!!!!! I and only I say to them FU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I vote for the "Whack-a-mole" game. Send in a specialized surgical strike force. Quick and quiet. Don't invade, set up shop, fraternize with the guerrillas hang out and eat flat bread for 10 years.
I vote for we stay out and heal America first. Where are we getting the money if we intervene?
As a citizen of a country with a government i would love to see replaced at this point i sympathize with them. Morally helping those innocent women and children who are feeling the wrath of artillery and mortar shells is the right thing to do. Put yourself in their shoes, you'd be begging for any swinging dick to come help.
Don't be a cold selfish bastard towards another human being. You could lose your job, lose your house have no food or car and still be in a better situation than those folks are in, with a job/house/car/food in the cupboards.
What is with the U.N. they allowed aid to Egypt and Libya, what the hell, because Russia and China say no they will allow people to be slaughtered, this is just ethnic cleansing, President Obama needs to tell the U.N. get off the stick or we will send in arms so at least these people have a fighting chance.
Where is the international support to help these people? Not enough oil?
Why does god hate these people so much?
i hate our tax $ going to this @!$%#...why are we not helping these ppl tho?
Because we're broke and need to stay home. Period.
Where are the suicide bombers now? In a plane. To Assad's fort. Take the SOB out.
No brainer, tanks Made In China! The reformers have done what they could, and now they need help,
which they deserve. It's genocide on par with Hitler! And some jobs need to be outsourced!
