In 1967, 5 Arab nations amassed armies on the Northern, Eastern and Southern borders. Although Israel pondered many responses, preemptive military response was appropriate.

Good question. They target civilians because that is the basic terrorist tactic. By targeting civilians they get the best PR, they create the most mayhem, and the can generally kill more people since they are soft targets, unarmed and less protected. No one feels safe. There are far larger numbers of Palestinian terrorists and Palestinian terrorist supporters than the Tamil Tigers had in active members or supporters. You are cherry picking history to your own needs. The Jews were happy with the 1948 partition. Immediately before and after the vote the rich palestinians removed themselves from the entire area. After the 1948 vote the rest of the Palesinians left the land. They left the land as they knew the area was going to be a war ground and didn't want to get killed. They wanted to give the Arab nations a clear field of fire to exterminate the Jews.

The Jews won the war and all the following wars. There is an old saying to the victors belong the spoils and that includes, the land, the houses, the farms and anything that was left behind.

Take a look at Europe over the last five hundred years and follow how the borders changed. There were never complaints. The winners took and the losers lost. The snag is if God wants the Jews to have Israel, he must be an orthodox, maybe even ultra orthodox. By that reasoning, anyone with a non-Jew in their maternal line (most of the immigrants from Europe) is not Jewish. The Romans expelled the Jews from Jerusalem in 70 AD and kept them out til the 5th century, but there is no historical evidence that they kicked the Jews out of Palestine. Probabaly a lot of the locals in Palestine had ancestors that converted to Christianity when the Christan Romans were in power and then to Islam after 638 when the Muslims took over.

They don't accept American kosher meat (illegal to import into Israel), don't accept women in the workplace, in politics or with any important role in religious ceremnoies, say women can't ride together with men on a bus (they must sit in the back or get death threats) and many of them receive state subsidies and don't work (because they can't be near women), and are exempted from military service so they can pray for the death of their enemies (all Muslims and more liberal Jews).

But there is a question of why Israel was attacking Gaza after a supposed cease fire. Is there some benefit for Israel in doing this? They are stuck with the dilemma of want the West Bank but wanting to exterminate or expel the 2.4 million Arabs that live there (otherwise they become permanent residents of Israel).
