Israel loves Iran

President Barack Obama accused Iran on Tuesday of imposing an "electronic curtain" on its citizens and promised new U.S. steps aimed at helping to ease the Iranian people's access to the Internet, as a social media campaign designed to promote peace between ordinary Israelis and Iranians got underway.
Speaking directly to ordinary Iranians in a video message marking Nowruz, the Persian new year celebration, Obama acknowledged "continued tensions between our two countries," which stem mostly from Iran's defiance over its nuclear program.
But he insisted that Americans want a dialogue with Iranians. "There is no reason for the United States and Iran to be divided from one another," he said.
Obama's overture to the Iranian people was the latest step in Washington's push to ratchet up pressure on Tehran. He has urged Israel to hold off on any attack on Iran's nuclear sites to allow more time for sanctions and diplomacy to work.
Renewing accusations of Iran's suppression of its people, Obama said Iranians were "denied the basic freedom to access the information that they want." He cited blocking of television and radio signals, monitoring of computers and cell phones and censoring of the Internet.
"Because of the actions of the Iranian regime, an electronic curtain has fallen around Iran," Obama said in the video address, which was transmitted in Farsi as well as English.
"Today, my administration is issuing new guidelines to make it easier for American businesses to provide software and services into Iran that will make it easier for the Iranian people to use the Internet," he said.
'Israel loves Iran'
Coincidentally, two Israelis, Ronny Edri and Michal Tamir, launched an internet-based project on Saturday seeking to reach out to ordinary people in Iran and express a desire for peace.

They developed colorful slogans, such as “Israel Loves Iran” and “We will never bomb you,” and urged people to add them to online photographs to reach out to ordinary Iranians.
In the “about you” section of their website, Edri wrote that for there to be war “first we must be afraid of each other, we must hate.”
“I’m not afraid of you, I don’t hate you. I don t even know you. No Iranian ever did me no harm. I never even met an Iranian…Just one in Paris in a museum. Nice dude,” Edri said, addressing Iranians. “I see sometime here, on the TV, an Iranian. He is talking about war. I’m sure he does not represent all the people of Iran. If you see someone on your TV talking about bombing you …be sure he does not represent all of us.”
“I’m not an official representative of my country. I m a father and a teacher. I know the streets of my town, I talk with my neighbors, my family, my students, my friends and in the name of all these people …we love you. We mean you no harm,” Edri added. “On the contrary, we want to meet, have some coffee and talk about sports.”
Some responded sarcastically, with one person using an image of the Greek’s Trojan horse in Troy, apparently taken from a film, with the message “Trojans, We will never bomb your country, We love you.”

However, there appeared to be a positive response from others, including Iranians.
On the “Love and Peace Campaign” Facebook page, which says it is run by a group of “independent Israeli-Iranian social activists and has more than 4,000 followers, a number of pictures were posted with slogans like “We love you Israeli people,” and “My Israeli friends, I don’t hate you, I don’t want War, love peace.” A heart symbol was used by some to represent the word love.

this article does make an excellent point, the people are not the ones who want war. its the idiots in charge that cant get along. they play their games and the ordinary citizens pay for it with their lives.
You are right Dave. Israels' leaders want the US to go to war with Iran. They have been trying to convince Americans that there is a threat from Iran. It is good to know there are people like you who know the facts. Iran has said it would never make a first attack on Israel.

The only people that want war is the Iranian leadership. The same government that supports hamas and hezbollah, terrorist groups that routinely launch rockets indiscriminately into civilian areas. The same people that went into school buses and into malls with high explosive bomb vests loaded with shrapnel to cause as many casualties as possible. Who were their targets? Civilian men, women and a lot of children.
We know most of the Iranian population does not want war, nor does the Israeli population and government, but if the Iranian leadership continues on their present nuclear course, the Israeli government has no choice but to be prudent in its defense.
If Iran is only interested in peaceful use why are the blocking IAEA inspectors from doing their jobs. Since they are blocking the inspectors, even if only to grandstand and pound their chests, it is an extremely stupid move, because they have called for the destruction of Israel. Therefore it has to be assumed that if Iran develops a bomb they will use it against Israel. The risk is just too high for Israel not to strike, even if they have to fly suicide missions to do so.
If Israel were to attack they will not be bombing downtown Tehran, it will be remote isolated sites and we have already seen satellite pictures of some on tv.
All Iran has to do is allow full IAEA inspections and this will all come to an end. If they intend using nuclear material for peaceful purposes then they should have no objections. If they are trying to develop a bomb, it will be basic, they wont be developing some cutting edge bomb that no one else has.
Why should Iran have to undergo these inspections and not the US, China, Russia, and Israel? The Iranian regime is the only one that has openly called for the complete destruction, annihilation, and removal from the face of the earth of another country.
A lot of world would win if Iran would allow the inspections, tensions in the middle east would ease, leading to tensions world wide would easing, fuel prices would stabilize(until the speculators found something else to terrify the market. I suppose by definition that make speculators terrorists, another discussion),
It is a bit more complicated than what these two young people believe. If these two people from Israel sat across the table from two Iranians, there may very well be things in common such as age, music, boys, etc. However, at some point the realities of their differences would emerge because nationalism steps in. The Iranian government has been clear that getting rid of Israel is their goal. For many in Iran they may or may not agree. If sanctions are hurting the average Iranian you can be sure they are not blaming their government but the US for their pain. Obama is not at all popular with these Muslim countries any more than Bush was. They still burn our flag, they still burn effigies of our president. They still wish us and Israel dead.
The Iranian people are already liberal, pro West and anti cleric. It's the Iranian cleric leadership that wants to develop and use nukes, mainly on Israel. Israel rattles their swords because that is the only thing the clerics are afraid of. They don't care if their own people die, they are scared for their own a$$es.
This campaign could be beneficial if the liberals and Green Party of Iran are inspired to have their own Arab (Persian) Spring and get rid of the clerics.

It seems to me as though since the first atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima, every nation want to equip its arsenals with nuclear weapon, even some impoverished African nations are gunning for the same thing. In the case of Iran, it seems as though selfish arrogance and a meaningless propaganda for the so-called religious fanatics that is fueling all these troubles. Someone above deride Obama about talking to the enemy, I think his strategy of building the support of the world community behind us by pushing diplomacy is a good one. It casts Iran as the aggressor that refuses to listen to the world community. Whatever happens afterwards, no one can point an accusation finger to the US as the aggressor. There is more to the issues that we know, we are not privy to what happens behind the closed door of political chess, but I would not dismiss Obama strategy as inneffective at this point.

What I find interesting is the Presidents veiled attempt to start a civil war in Iran, while at home passes more and more laws to make sure we can't do the same.

Indefinite detention in NDAA. The ability for the government to remove due process, thereby freedom of speech and a host of others.
HR 347 Change in an old law now making it a felony to protest anywhere the secret service sees as a security threat, even if you aren't aware you were breaking the law or where the secret service now believes is in the interest of national security.
They also put something in place last summer where the President has the ability to shut down every internet service provider in the country.
Well, most recently would be HR347 which makes it a felony to protest anywhere there is a secret service detail or at an event deemed a "'National Special Security Event". It passed with 100-0 vote in the senate and only 3 people voted against it in the house. One of those three was Ron Paul.
HR347 was introduced by freshman Tea Party Representative Thomas Rooney of Florida. Rooney is a bit of a loony.
HR 347 is a bill that has been classed as Conservative. Evidence suggests it was crafted with the Occupy movement in mind. On the surface it doesn't really appear to be all that offensive, however there is a whole lot of room for interpretation and is something that could potentially be abused.
Regardless, it is pretty silly to blame President Obama for this bill. If the President had vetoed this bill, it most likely would have been overridden, considering the support it got in Congress. As with the Patriot Act, there is little evidence that the Obama administration has abused the potential powers in such bills, and in fact has tried for the most part to stay within older guidelines. That is all well and good and I don't see Obama abusing these laws. However, once the laws are in place, the opportunity exists for one of his successors to take them to an extreme.
This was not something the President asked for, but was a bill that came from the far right in the House. When you read this bill, you have to wonder just why it was actually written because the specific things it cites were undoubtedly already illegal. What the bill does is open the door to abuse and undoubtedly it is targeting the Occupy movement. I don't see this being used or abused during an Obama run government. The problem becomes real however if the right wing that crafted it, again takes power. Every bill that a President signs into law is not "his law". In a lot of cases, particularly like this one, Congress had all the votes necessary to make it law without him. Sometimes too, it makes sense to sign a bill that has high bi-partisan Congressional support. This is one of those laws that the President actually has the option of just how strongly it will be enforced.
So before you blame a President for a law, do a bit of research as to where it came from and how it got to his desk. Just like gas prices, the Preident doesn't control everything that happens during his term. A lot of times, there is little he can do to change some of these things. Just knowing where this one came from should tell you something.

I never claimed that they were drafted by the President, however, they were signed by him. I hold the Congress just as guilty for all, especially when they could have been doing their real jobs. Such as, balancing the @!$%#ing budget. Why is it that the only time Congress can get something done without argument and it hitting national news is when they all agree to undermine our rights.

Iranians are Persians not Arab. This would be a "Persian Spring". Other than that, I would agree it would be great if the Iranian people could overtake the government and experience more freedom. While initially they came to the streets to protest the illegitimate presidential campaign, it mobilized into something far greater...Iranians came to the streets to resist the ongoing corruption of 30 years of Shi'i Islamic rule. it was the largest protest movement since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The Iranian people were arrested, tortured, mutilated. Did you know the Syrian regime takes lessons from Iran's Revolutionary Guard on how to suppress dissonance and uprisings? While we may not see any more bloodshed on the streets of Iran, the Green Movement is now underground. The dissent is not in bloodshed, it is in other acts such as this Love Campaign. To win against Iran's Mullahs, the Iranians know they must enact a different strategy, one the Mullahs are not familiar with....one that embraces LOVE.

You are 100% correct. I have been reading through people's comments and I keep wondering to myself why doesn't anyone remember the Iranian people standing up and protesting. There were many people who were killed. Women we're throwing off their scarvesin protest. The Persian culture clashes with what the Iranian gov is doing. Many people were holding up signs that read we love America, we don't hate you. Please help. The president said that they had to work it out in their own country and wouldn't send any help. Which amazed me later that we sent help to the people of Libya, but not Iran. They were trying to get messages out via the Internet that they needed help, and wanted it. But then the Iranian gov shut the Internet down. =( The Iranian people live a completely different life inside their homes then they do outside. Getaclue95 how quickly we all forget...
@mbassett27: i agree with you. i think most Americans are rather ignorant of Iran and probably did not give it a second thought when they saw the images coming out of Iran in summer 2009, and that's why they say ignorant (but well meaning) things like top gun up there...they either lump Iran in with the rest of the Middle East, not realizing that Iran is NOT ARAB, or they draw unproductive/illogical comparisons between Iran and Arab countries, when they are not comparable in any way for various reasons...one practices Sunni, Iran practices Shi'i Islam; one is ruled by monarchy, Iran is Islamic "republic" (not really, but that's another story); one is Arab race, majority of Iran is Persian; and so on. if Americans actually picked up a book instead of watching the Kim K. or nascar, what a different country this would be. in any case, i pray for a prosperous, united and rich Iran. HAPPY NOWRUZ!!!
No one seems to remark on the US role in Iranian efforts to acquire a nuclear bomb. Considering our history with the Shah subjugating the Iranian people and considering that the US invaded Iraq on the west and Afghanistan on the east it makes sense to me for Iran to want a bomb. The US walks on tip toes with our frenemy Pakistan. Why? Because they have nuclear bombs.

WE all need to let our government know that the U.S. is not Israel's puppet, and will not start or enable a war with a country which poses no threat to us. The Iranian people come from a great origin since the days of Cyrus the Great. The ancient Persians set the example for many civilizations to follow. Israel is one of the most dangerous nations in the world, their training of the Israel terrortist is affecting the many nations of the world, their love of war is world renown. The have at their disposal the largest military in the world. If they want war with an Arab nation all they have to do is threaten to use their neclear weapons and the US military is there willing to do as they are told by the Leaders of Israel. Israel needs to have their military weapons neutralized so that the other nations in the world are not forced into war with the US military at the wishes of the Israeli command. Wonder how long before China and Russia are threaten by Israel? Hopefully these nations have the capacity to deal with Israel on their own, if not the Israel leaders will demand that the US go to war for the Israeli once again.
Interestingly enough, the United States has never engaged in military action in direct support of Israel during any one of its several wars. Quite the reverse, America has tended to support Israel because they shore up American interests in the Middle East, not the other way around.
Israel, by and large, has been on their own in every major conflict it has ever faced. Nobody intervened to help them, not even once.

If you read the news from 12 years ago you'll find that the Iranian population wanted things to change in Iran to make them more a part of the world community. However, after 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq, the Iranian government really began to clamp down.
I think that the majority of the Iranian people would prefer peace and friendship with other nations. Israel...I'm not so sure. But I am sure that the governments of both Iran and Israel are aggressive and dangerous, and that's really all that matters.

It would be great if all Iranians and Israelis got along as well as those pictured. There would be no problem. The reality is quite different. What you sow is what you reap (karma theory) US is a puppet of Israel. A tiny country such as Israel is holding US policy hostage. And President after President in DC has no guts to say, enough Israel. Israel's predicament is well understood - it is surrounded by a bunch of hostile neighbors. But to go and attack Iran preemptively is foolish. Unfortunately US set a bad precedent by using the ONLY nuclear weapon and killing 1000s of Japanese and being the aggressor many times after WWII (most recently Iraq). For US or Israel to say Iran cannot have nuclear weapons is completely bogus. One needs balance of power. Learn from history what goes around will come back and bite you later. This is karma. This is TIME and TIME is GOD (Generates Operated Destroy - Brahma Vishnu Shiva).
Western culture is all about kill and conquer (to eat , survive for 1000's of years). This was the case again of desert based cultures that came from Persia and Afghan area (these desert area- middle east people). These people invaded -good peace loving culture of giving and loving (Indus civilization) and ransacked modern India. Then came the other Western Culture people - kill and conquer -British and French. Both these rulers Moguls (muslims) and Christians -converted millions of Hindus into their religion creating massive ADHARMA. These countries now will face the fruits of their actions. Look what is happening to Afghan people, Iranian people and French and British religious killing. Karma (TIME OR GOD) will come and bite these aggressive nations and these karmic forces will act centuries later...
Wake up USA -get out of Afghanistan, stay neutral in any Israel -Iran war. Bush created enough negative karma for us to suffer for another 30 yrs. Let use be neutral and follow Dharma properly and defend our nation rather than go on killing innocents in other nations.
