A 7.4-magnitude quake centered near Oaxaca didn't cause heavy damage, but was felt across a huge area of the country. NBC's Brian Williams reports.
A strong, long 7.4 earthquake with an epicenter in Guerrero state shook central southern Mexico on Tuesday, swaying buildings in Mexico City and sending frightened workers and residents into the streets.
More than 800 homes were damaged and 60 collapsed near the epicenter in Ometepec in southern Guerrero state. There were no reports of death or serious injury. Fear and panic spread as a less powerful, magnitude-5.1 aftershock was also felt in the capital, where there were also no reports of deaths.
Other aftershocks were felt around the borders of Oaxaca and Guerrero states close to the epicenter.

"It was very strong, very substantial," Campos Benitez, hospital director in Ometepec.
Police radio operator Marcos Marroquin said there were preliminary reports of damaged houses in the municipality but only a report of a broken arm.
Telephone service was down in the city and throughout the area where the quake was felt, and some neighborhoods were without power, according to Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard, who set up a hotline for people to report damage.
About 40 passengers were stranded for a short time on the Mexico City airport air train, but later released. The airport closed for a time but officials said there was no runway damage and they resumed operations.
"I swear I never felt one so strong, I thought the building was going to collapse,'' said Sebastian Herrera, 42, a businessman from a neighborhood hit hard in Mexico's devastating 1985 earthquake, which killed thousands.
Groups of women hugged and cried at Mexico City's Angel of Independence monument, where hundreds of people evacuated from office buildings said they never had felt such a strong earthquake.
Others typed ferociously on their Blackberries. Samantha Rodriguez, a 37-year old environmental consultant, was evacuated from the 11th floor on the Angel Tower office building.
"I thought it was going to pass rapidly but the walls began to thunder and we decided to get out," she said.
Mexico City, built on a lakebed, was badly damaged in 1985 when an 8.0 earthquake killed at least 10,000 people. In past years, Guerrero has suffered several severe earthquakes, including a 7.9 in 1957 which killed an estimated 68 people, and a 7.4 in 1995 which left three dead.
Tuesday's quake was the strongest shaking felt in the capital since a magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck also in Guerrero in December. Officials said at least three people died in Guerrero, but there were no reports of widespread damage.
A magnitude-8.0 quake near Manzanillo on Mexico's central Pacific coast killed 51 people in 1995 and a magintude-7.5 quake killed at least 20 people in the southern state of Oaxaca in 1999.
Victor Flores, an official at the Guerrero emergency management agency, told msnbc.com that initial reports from teams near the epicenter were of damage only to homes built of adobe or other weak construction material.
Aerial teams will follow up,” he added, “but so far no deaths or injuries.”
A person at Acapulco City Hall told NBC News that they felt the quake had no immediate reports of injuries or damages.
A major earthquake measuring as high as 7.6 magnitude, struck east of Acapulco. Msnbc's Tamron Hall reports.
No damage was reported in Oaxaca, about 100 miles west-southwest of the epicenter, according to local television. The front desk at the Hotel Real Oaxaca told NBC that the temblor scared residents but there was no damage.
A worker at Rica Pizza in Ometepec, one of the towns nearest to the epicenter, told NBC News that there was no damage to his business but he heard of damage to some other buildings in the area. He said electricity had gone out at his location -- and many of his business neighbors had lost theirs. His phone was working -- though he said there were some businesses without phone service. He also said he had heard lots of ambulance sirens but doesn't have any specifics on injuries.
The quake was followed by several aftershocks, he said.
"It was very strong, but we didn't see anything fall," said Irma Ortiz, who runs a guesthouse in Oaxaca. She said that their telephones are down and that the quake shook them side-to-side.
Celia Galicia, who works at the U.S. consular office in Oaxaca, had just flown in from Mexico City when it hit.
She said there was panic in the airport, and a dash for the doors. But she said that she saw no damage at the airport and no one was hurt. She says one building in downtown Oaxaca appears to be damaged and has been evacuated.
She added that they've had two strong aftershocks, and that in downtown Oaxaca most people are out on the street at this point.
"It started shaking badly," she said.
The White House said President Barack Obama's oldest daughter, Malia, is safe and never was in danger during the quake. Malia, 13, is on vacation with a school group in southwestern Mexico, according to reports from the region.
Earlier the quake had been reported at 7.9 magnitude. No tsunami was expected.

Good, maybe Mexico will slide into the Pacific Ocean. It would make a better reef than it has a country.
Racist much? People like you are whats wrong with this country. Narrow minded idiot.
Hopefully you will slide into the ocean.
Well that's very harsh.
Now if you said that about San Francisco...
I agree sonar
what a stupid comment, u have no respect for anyone
My first thought was of the people involved, their terror and pain - and how they are part of the same human family as the rest of us and deserve our compassion. It is so sad that Sonar Guy's comment was the first posted here - he does NOT represent the majority of people, as the instinct of most is to help.
And YOU have no respect for the english language.
sonar guy - what goes around comes around! What a horrible thing to say when so much life and property could be lost. If you can't say anything nice, kindly shut up!
Racism angle aside.....Sonars comment on how crappy Mexico is as a COUNTRY is a valid point. It would make a better reef than a country because as a country it is akin to the Wild West down there, but with less accountability unless you are in a cartel.
your an idiot
IDIOT!!
How is what he said racist? Tastless perhaps, but not racist. It is a crap country by any standard.
Has nothing to do with what race is there, has to do with the people having no respect for anything. It is goverment and people living there making it horrid, not because they are a certain race but because they don't care.
sonar gay, i get the feeling you are about 45 and still living in your mom's basement.
@Sonar Guy & Jim-794682
KARMA
Karma is the law of cause and effect. Your actions or way of thinking creates a cause and in time, you will see and feel the effects it has in your life (present and future). Your acts and thoughts are entirely your responsibility, making your karma entirely your own. Every one of your thoughts and actions will create an equal and opposite reaction, which is why it is important that you consider things before you commit certain acts and before you wish certain things both upon yourself and towards others. So basically, what goes around, comes around, so do not send anything out that you would like coming back to you. Keeping your karma good will assure you a pleasant reincarnation.
YOU ARE WELCOME!
Sonar guy racist...maybe, maybe not but he is an ass with nothing but hate inside.
Mexico is a country, not a race. There is no Mexican race, just as there is no Canadian race.
It's spelled "you're an idiot"
wow so many personal attacks on sonar guy and newsvine turns a blind eye... go figure...
HEARD HOLDER'S GOING DOWN THERE WITH AS COUPLE OF 45'S...
If you are (you're) are going to call somebody an idiot....
Sonar guy is an idiot, low life with no girlfriend. Just wishing he can get some attention.
Hey sonar guy, actually Mexico is not in debt or in a financially crisis like our country lol so technically they are doing better then us as a country, yeah they have a cartel war going on but down in the south (Florida, Georgia, Lousiana, etc.) there's as much crime going on. So i please suggest you go to school or atleast do some research.
Sonar guy is an idiot with 17 likes and counting. So how many idiots are there exactly?
To shed a little perspective on the subject, Mexico is a country and Mexican is a nationality not a race. So these guys may disrespect Mexico and Mexicans but they're NOT racists.
I actually think the whole comment is due to the drug cartel and subsequent crime wave comming out of the area and not so much about the Mexican People. In all fairness and reality this could make that whole situation worse if the government's infrastructure is too badly damaged. With that said perhaps it would be best if we could help.
memin pinguin - hate to disappoint you, but she is pretty hot. As for the basement, been out for over 30 years. Awwwwwwww !!!!
Sorry folks, I think Mexico sucks. Their exports suck too.
The earthquake probably killed a few people. They have killed 50,000 of their own and are coming to a town near you soon.
Why cause i used u instead of you lol what a brainless idiot and racist just like sonar guy
SSPerfectChaos
Now, there's discrimination against Gays?
Clearly many of the people here have never been made victims of the violence, intrusions on privacy or generally disrespectful nature of the 'people' Mexico vomits up through our southern border.
It might not be nice to advocate the annihilation of a country based on the actions of a portion of the population, but sometimes people need to vent.
It doesn't make him a racist.
I love the way people freak out at these kinds of comments that are often made just to provoke your response. Get over it!
You know, kind of like if you said Canada should fall in the ocean. Would that make you a racist?
The attacks on sonar guy are much more vicious and personal than what his comment was. The extreme haters are hating on a hater? Whoa, what does THAT do to our collective cosmic energy?
If you take a moment to think about it before referring to racial profiling you would also agree with Sonar... Look up all the killings, drugs, illegals are coming here for a reason people. The place sucks. God bless those people with or without an earthquake. Too many idiots not reading up on the statitists, facts....... Stop being stupid. You have one mouth for talking, two eyes for reading and two ears for listening, try using them as they were given to you other than the other way around............. geeezzzzz sick of just stupidity but add idiots enough said.
This guy is just a reflection on what type of turds the USA is made of. And by the way, the USA is "sliding" into the ocean way faster than Mexico is, so good luck with that gringo haters.
Hate to disappoint you there j, but we're sliding northwest not sinking into the ocean.
A Veteran
I think Canada is awesome. I have family there that immigrated there too; Legally !!!
Well if you're so unhappy with Americans, head to Mexico, where you too can enjoy their wonderful drug trading atmosphere, where politics and protection by law enforcement is by and large corrupt for the most part. And the US is sliding in faster? It'd be nice if we investigated the political nature throughout Mexico just to see how corrupt it is all the way to the top, alas, I would rather see Mexico sink into the ocean before the US sinks money into an investigation that will cause us to house more criminals in the US.
Everyone hating on Mexico because of the drug violence.
Remember that most of that violence is due to drug cartels and millions of completely innocent people live in terror because of them. Guess where they bring the drugs? YES UP NORTH TO THE USA. So next time anyone thinks "young kids just experiment with drugs, it's nothing wrong" OR "I'll smoke this joint for fun" OR See any of the many drug addicts on the streets, REMEMBER- THEY ARE THE DEMAND THAT KEEPS THE SUPPLY + VIOLENCE machine going.
Xaziol, I am already happily living in Mexico since I can remember. Why do you turds have to always assume things?
wow! I see alot of people throwing the word idiot around who obviously don't know the difference between nationalism and racism. Read a @!$%#ing book.
Lets put sonar on the border he'll protect us and make us feel safe, The only reason he hates Mexico is because their religious.
Thank god. Now Stay.
OK, I have to say it........ "it's Obama's fault"
Mexico is, by and large, a Third World slum. Thanks to the 800,000 illegal aliens who enter the United States every year, Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California, and Texas are fast becoming Third World slums, too. Mexican "culture" is primitive, violent, and tribal-- thus, Latin gangs have turned our inner cities into cesspools of crime. When Third World refugees settle in First World communities, they do not become First World citizens; they drag the First World culture down to a Third World level. Militarize the border, deport all illegals, and eliminate the "anchor baby" clause from the Constitution. Problem solved.
Sure hope none of my tax dollars end up there in the form of aid for this. The country already gets enough US dollars to aid in their drug war and from all of the illegals in the US sending it back home while receiving government handouts here. If they need financial help for this let their rich cartels give it to them.
sonar guy - Didn't mean to offend anybody about that Canada sliding into the ocean thing, just using the example for perspective. I go with my Son and Grandson to Whistler every winter to snowboard. LOVE Vancouver. Peace.
Nickybishop,
Mexicans are NOT a race!!!!
Why is this so difficult for liberals to understand???
Liberals are Clowns (#1.45)--- Being a life-long "liberal" but not being of the idiot-persuasion of the far radical left, I will answer your question--- the objective of the anti-borders activists is to mischaracterize the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws (the most-generous-immigration-laws-in-the-world) as "racist". That tactic is FALSE and DISHONEST, and frankly, only an idi0+ would be persuaded by such low-brow dishonesty. These lunatics actually believe that they will win the argument by mischaracterizing and insulting those of us who want our borders respected and immigration laws enforced as "racists".
As an example, Eva Longoria (speaking on behalf of the Obama campaign) was on CNN news this morning, and I happened to catch her saying the Mitt Romney's pledge to veto the so-called "Dream Act" (if it ever were to pass) as "dangerous". Ms. Longoria actually apparently believes that enforcing our laws is "dangerous" (to use her term), yet she fully supports granting rewards to immigration lawbreakers. It's the kind of logic that attempts to re-characterize enforcement of our laws as "dangerous" and rewards for lawbreaking as "justice". It's both nauseating and transparent!
Sonar - Many Native Americans would probably express the same sentiments about the United States. They had it good until all these illegal, squatter, violent, destructive immigrants came in from Europe and mucked things up. I imagine the millions of Africans kidnapped from their homelands and enslaved in the U.S. would probably also express the same sentiments about the early United States.
Sonar, you are a moron and a hypocrite. The first because you bring your personal griefs about illegal immigrants to an issue that has nothing to do with it. And the second because when someone gives you an example of what you're saying, you get offended.
You probably do live the sheltered life of the happily ignorant. Statements like your post are just proof of your inane lack of understanding of human suffering regardless of where they are from. You know nothing of Mexico; same as you probably know nothing of the UK, Sudan, Spain, France or Brazil... besides what Glenn Beck probably told you.
@Realist-502574 Get an idea of how international aid works before you whine about where our taxes go, dimwit.
And the teabaggers wonder why everyone thinks they're racists...
Angelica S;
Bra-freaking-vo!!!!!! I have finally found another person who gets it and sees all this word mongering form what it is. And she's a Democrat,( not to be confused with rabid far left socialist liberal reject.) Pity about 200,000,000 more Americans are so brainwashed to understand it.
And before any of you call me a bagger or Republican. Please allow me to state categorically I belong to NONE of the four political persuasions. Democrat, Independent, Republican or Tea Party, now make an acronym and see what they all are,, D.I.R.T.,,, that's right Dirt. ALL dirty, ALL the time.
Toasty:
I see your spouting your usual drivel. See Angelica S's aforementioned post and learn something, will you please?
I take it you didn't actually read SG's post...
Toasty, How come anybody that disagrees with you is a "Teabagger"?
It seems to come up in every conversation. It seems the concept is actually in your mind. Now visualize "Teabagging" in your mind. Now visualize it other places.
FYI - "Teabaggers" are religious, I, like yourself am not. But unlike yourself, I don't believe that the we should give everything we have to everyone who hates us.
Necodemus--- Thank you for your comments. I think that you'll find that most Democratic voters also want our laws enforced--- it's just that the Democratic party leadership has made a despicable political calculation (albeit a flawed one) that pandering to the immigration lawbreakers (who cannot vote--- in theory at least) and their insufferable advocates will win votes. However, I believe that it will have the opposite effect. I believe that Americans across the political spectrum are FED UP with being sold out by their leadership (both the Democrats who are pandering for amnesty and the Republicans who pander on behalf of the cheap-labor-seeking-Chamber of Commerce). We are getting wise to this blackmarket lawbreaking scheme and we are SICK OF IT!
As stated by Vernon M. Briggs Jr., Cornell University Emeritus Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations:
Wow, did I miss something? First, Mexico is a country, not a race. The "Mexicans" are mostly a mixed race of people just like those in South America. Although, I do prefer the people from South America, they have manners. Gringos are what they call white people, and that's the nice word. The reason Mexico is not in debt is because they come here illegally, work for cash under the table, send the money back home to family there, and their govt. taxes it about 40%. They don't pay for their kids, so they have what's left to live a nice life on our dime. Did I forget anything? Oh yeah, their government does nothing for their own people except to give them information on how to get everything they possibly can from us. And I don't want to hear how they only pick fruits and veggies because there are a lot of construction workers and manufacturing workers out of a job because of the many millions here. When we crack down on illegal and restrict legal immigration, then and only then, can Americans get back to work.
Angelica S;
As I said Bravo!!! This sort of thing is exactly why I have no allegiance to any of the parties. I will vote for the person I feel will best represent the best interests of THIS country and it's citizens. Not a bunch of leeches that sneak into the country like a burglar in the middle of the night and expect to be provided for. Immigration without control and constraint quickly becomes an invasion.
Keep the truth out there. With any luck, the general population will see this crap fro what it is. I think many are beginning to smell it, but, seem unable to believe their leaders have been selling them out.
Families lost their homes to a natural disaster and this guy is worried about the border patrol. Jesus Christ, do you hear yourself? Is that the kind of comment you left to the victims of Hurricane Katrina?
Hope that's nowhere near where presdient Obama's daughter is staying on spring break.....
and not too mention the residents and anyone else!
Actually, according to the USGS page on it, it's less from 100 miles from where she is reportedly staying
Hummmmmmmmmmm .... "Whole Lot Of Shakin Goin On!"
False alarm, turns out it wasn't an earthquake, just a heated battle between two rival drug cartels.
Using weapons they obtained from Holder's "fast and furious" plan. Hmm, maybe they got Obamas daughter, karma can be a real bitch sometimes...
who cares lol
Prohibition... If you are an adult use your name... BE PROUD OF YOUR IGNORANCE...
REMEMBER WISH THAT ON A KID and SEE YOURS ROT IN HELL
Debbie, Are you joking?? DO you do that everytime you read a news story..."Hmmm I wonder how this is affecting my beloved first family?" Ugh, your first thought SHOULD have been, "I hope no one was seriously hurt". I hope you don't plan on voting you ignoramous.
How is this political? Jerk!
WTF
Is she staying somewhere down there all alone with no other persons who might be affected? Give me a break please. I don't want to see any harm come to her either OR WHOEVER ELSE IS WITH OR NEAR HER.
obama's daughter ? really ? i mean this is a primary concern ? c'mon...
I hope O'bamas daughter's poo made it safely to the sewer lagoon!
Well, to piss the bleeding hearts off even further, My first thought is, "Great, stand by for the next 12 million illegals to bounce across the border like freaking lemmings". There, that aught to keep you whining for several hours.
Surprised that as an MSN subscriber anyone even knew about her being down there since they didn't see fit to put it on their homepage. I hope and pray that Malia and her friends are safe but I pray for the people of Mexico. Obama will probably send Air Force One down there to pick 'em all up. AT GREAT EXPENSE. The fact that she's down there at all is a total waste of taxpayer funds (25 Agents? Really???). While I'm ranting, how about the Obama's taking their Christmas Vacations in Hawaii...that's pretty pricey but even more inconsiderate is that all of those Secret Service Agents...a LOT MORE than 25 of 'em...have to spend their Christmas away from their family and loved ones. The unbridled arrogance of that guy is just amazing. Selfish, really. Hey Barack, go see another Broadway show, we're thrilled to pay for it.
God Bless Acapulco and her people at this troubling time.
I think people are bringing up Obama's girls because while our country is suffering the same people who are suffering are also paying for her security. I mean 25 Secret Service men guarding the girl and her 12 friends. This is a total waste of taxpayer's money. Majority of US kids would love to even go on a trip.
We canceled our spring break vacation because the gas prices are too high. I can understand the frustration of the people.
Ron;
New flash, all American Kings,,,,errr, Presidents have traveled a lot on our dime. This one seems to be living it up a bit more than most, but hey, they all wanted change. I especially like the "date" to New York for dinner and a show. They don't have theaters and restaurants in D.C.? Oh that's right, it isn't safe to go out at night in our nations capital. Too many of those civilized, law abiding, left leaning sorts running the streets slinging dope and shooting people. Go ahead whiners, collapse this post, I know you will, the truth is something you can't stand.
Jo Ann, double thumbs up!!!
See? Fracking DOES cause earthquakes.
Let's be very clear the the so-called "Fast and Furious" scandal is a completely manufactured entity.
The fact that weapons marked and sold in US gun shops ended up in Mexico proves exactly what the Obama Administration was saying all along and totally discredits the NRA and Far Right who claimed no such thing was occurring. Only using the BIZARRO logic of the GOP/TP could someone call this a "scandal". Every time I see these words used they will be refuted. How dumb have some Americans become of late? Seriously? You will believe anything as long as it comes from the right mouthpiece.
What a joke it all is and from the party of Watergate, Iran-Contra, Enron-Worldcom, The Savings and Loan Scandal, the lies that took us into Iraq, and the financial deregulation that led to the '08 collapse, just to name the recent ones! You should all be so proud.
Hey vox, we are not too bright out here so please explain what your post has to do with an earthquake. What did you say? Nothing? You just like to see your name in cyberspace? Figures.
voxrationis you are really dillusional. If it were any other president, Fast and Furious would be the end of Obama and would probably land that racist pig Eric Holder in the clink. You'd better start getting your info from some other place than msnbc which is nothing but a mouthpiece for the Obama Third Reich. Or, you and your buddy Jeffrey Immelt could start a Goebbels fan club. Heil Obama the next feuher!
And the guy who wants to be seen as informed and rational is comparing Obama to Goebbels.
America, @!$%# yeah!
Also love Nico's tried and true strategy of saying something inflammatory then blaming the people who get offended, as if he said nothing out of line whatsoever.
Also hope prohibition gets a ban for that comment, some things are way over the line.
Let's hope this doesn't upset the plans of Obama's 13 year old daughter, on spring break.
I mean, when I was 13, I aways felt I should be able to have Spring Break in a foreign country. Yep! But oddly, my parents didn't think it was appropriate for me to just spend the week alone in Mexico, even with 25 Secret Service Agents, you see... I WAS ONLY 13!!!!!
What kind of nut allows his 13 year old daughter to travel to Mexico, the murder capital of the world, for spring break... I mean... SHE'S ONLY 13!!!!!
.
I don't understand why people are getting happy this happened in Mexico, Idon't know if the comment on Obama's daughter was sarcasm. There people saying stuff like: " They deserve it etc." Wait, you think it is a good thing that people lost their homes? You think this earthquake is going to stop illegals from hopping the border? If anything, it is going to make them come here even more because they lost their homes. Illegal immigration is a problem, but, instead of blaming the illegal immigrants here, you people accuse the people of Mexico who currently living in Mexico of illegal immigration.
Well for one, Mexico isn't the murder capitol of the world. Not by a long shot, actually. Two - she's is on a chaperoned field trip, with her school, classmates, presumably teachers and administrators, and a Secret Service security contingent. What exactly qualifies that as "alone".
Better father than you apparently, to allow his daughter to go experience the world. Can only wish mine had similiar opportunities.
Prayers to the folks in Mexico... wonder if there will be a Tsunami warning... 7.9 is pretty strong.
It was on land so their shouldn't be one I would think
Acapulco is a sea port city, so there might be a tsunami warning issued.
Why the prayers?, most of them are already here, or will be in a few days.
that is so mean but funny
Brian;
I doubt it. The epicenter was on land not under the sea. Ergo, no up-heave of the sea floor to generate a Tsunami.
Ya, but not strong enough, they're still attached.
Nicodemus: SOOOOO freaking mean!!!
Nobody killed?
That car seems extremely dead to me.
Hopefully property damage is all.
Amazing if that's the case with that magnitude.
Acapulco rocks;
Let's see 13 million illegals and counting at the rate of 1200 or so a day, I is also soooooo freaking true.
We take in 1 million foreigners on visa's every year, most don't leave as the law requires when said visa expires, close to that many in illegals sneak in every year. Did you know illegal entry in to Mexico is a felony and they will put in prison for two years on the first offense? and that after you are deported you can not return for ten years even legally? OR, that a second offense gets you ten years in prison? No? What a surprise. Why is every other countries on earths laws valid and our laws are ignored? Illegal entry into the states is a misdemeanor, no prison just deportation. Why do you think it's mean to insist immigrates come here legally? I think we should change our law to a felony. That way they can pick fruits and veggies as part of their prison terms. Everyone wants the cheap labor, so hey, why not get it?
I been saying this for years now but no one will listen to me. I totally agree with you Nicodemus1946
Robyn467;
We just have to keep putting the truth out their. As the economy continues to stagnate and people remain jobless, they will break through the indoctrination and realize they've been sold a bill of good by all these self severing politicians.
Unbelievable! Today is March 20, 2012 and there´s still racism over the world, don´t you think so Nicodemus1946
Could be, But your back handed insult is completely without merit. I am saying our Immigration laws are valid and as such, should be enforced. You on the other hand, and in TRUE leftist extremist fashion, seek to divert the conversation from that fact,with the same tired shrill of racism. How tired, How quaint, how stupid. Nice try kid, try to come up with something a bit more original, won't you?
Nicodemus said:
Did you know illegal entry in to Mexico is a felony and they will put in prison for two years on the first offense?... Illegal entry into the states is a misdemeanor, no prison just deportation.
Incorrect. Here in the US if you don't have paperwork you can spend your entire life in deportation without ever having done anything wrong. I was internationally adopted as an infant, never told before Dad and Mom passed away in a car accident, so when ICE said 'Papers, please' and I said, 'What papers?' they shipped me to a prison first for a year then shipped me toa deportation camp in TX. When they found out they couldn't deport me because I was stateless before my adoption (I don't have an official home country, no original birth certificate says where I was born, who I was born to, or when I was born--I have no real idea how old I am) ICE told me I could spend the rest of my life in deportation until I gave them the adoption paper.
and that after you are deported you can not return for ten years even legally?
My coworker's mother was deported two days before Christmas last year and can't return for ten years--if she survives that long. She was an orphaned infant in Germany in 1945, brought to US for an adoption, but immigration never told her parents that citizenship wasn't automatic. In Nov 2011, 60+ years after she was adopted, ICE calls her and tells her she's no longer a citizen. She's not given a chance to file paperwork to fix the mistake her parents made, and Immigration didn't take responsibility for not having told them about citizenship requirements in 1945. They take her bank account, her car, and her home as civil asset forfeiture, throw her and her son (who was living with her while she was undergoing cancer treatment) out into the street until she's deported five weeks after they first told her. There was no judge. No lawyer. No trial. No due process. Her 90 year old parents tried to go to Immigration and plead for her to stay, but ICE refused to listen to them. She will have to stay in Germany for ten years before her son--my coworker--can apply for her to come back, provided she's still alive because she was going through cancer treatment (on her own nickel, not on welfare or Social Security.)
And if you have something on your record--points on your driving record, a parking/speeding ticket--you are deported without right of reentry.
OR, that a second offense gets you ten years in prison?
I was told I'd spend my entire life in deportation for not being able to produce an adoption paper I never even knew I had.
No papers=life in deportation camp. Anybody think this sounds familiar?
And in case you didn't know--deportation is worse than prison.
In prison, a female guard did the strip search and body cavity searches. In deportation, I got whoever happened to be there--and you can bet there weren't any female guards around an eighteen year old Asian girl when it was her turn to be searched.
In prison, if the clothes assigned weren't clean, the prisoners would have complained so everyone got clean underwear. In deportation the underwear given to me still had blood from another woman's period crusted in it.
In prison if you give a prisoner a plate with maggots in the food the government would be all over the prison. In deportation, you ate it or you waited until the next shipment of food came in. And yes, if you're really hungry you will eat maggots--I learned that. I have never, ever been picky about food since I got out.
In prison the guards aren't allowed to take you out, make you strip, line you up against a wall, point guns at you and shoot paintballs.
I wonder what Mexican prisons are like. Have to be better than American deportation camps since Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International isn't screaming at the Mexican government about the human rights violations in their prisons like they're screaming at America about human rights violations in American deportation camps.
Now, let's stop hijacking the article and return to the topic--the earthquake (NOT illegals and whatallelse you all have been talking about.)
Here on the East Coast we had an earthquake in autumn. The first earthquake I've ever felt in my life. As my work is located in a 200+ year old historic building, my heart dropped into my shoes and we got theheck out of the building as fast as we all could. Yeah, I know you're not supposed to leave a building in an earthquake but we all figured we'd rather be in the middle of the one-acre grassy park at the end of the street than inside a 200 year old historic rowhouse mansion with the chandeliers shaking. I actually almost thought it was the office ghost for a moment before I felt the ground rise under my feet--really pecuiliar feeling. Fortunately we all got out and no one got hurt and none of the historic stuff in the building broke except the chimney--it collapsed.
Downtown, however, it was a different story. One lady was getting on the elevator on the 14th floor in one of our umpteen-story skyscrapers downtown when the quake hit. Power blinked and the elevator dropped ten stories straight down in freefall before the power came back on and stopped at the fourth floor. She was taken to shock trauma with chest pains--I don't blame her, I think I'd've had a heart attack too!
So while our fivepointer was nowhere near as big as this sevenpluspointer in mexico, I fully understand just how traumatic that can be, even if you live in an area that has them regularly it has GOT to be nerve-wracking to go through one of that magnitude. Thank the Goddess no one got hurt and everyone seems to be okay. Property can be replaced, lives can't. Congrats on your foresight to build earthquake proof buildings if a sevenpointer hit our building I'm postitive the whole place would crumble and I'd be out of a job!
a lot of people stay away to avoid listening to the real side of things. Most people just hear what others say and repeat that false information.. hope everyone reads this comment and learns from it. this is the reality... sadly.
Amanda;
Yours sound like a strange case, Indeed. An adoption without papers from the country of origin? No birth certificate? How is that accomplished? I hate to say it, but, it sounds more like a purchase, than a adoption.
I had a great Aunt how came through Ellis Island as an orphan, her parents died on the crossing, but she still had papers from her country of origin to immigrate to the U.S. So perhaps your adoption was not an adoption. Perhaps your adoptive parents brought here illegally. And yes, you can be held indefinitely if your identity or country of origin are in question, or the circumstances of your coming to the U.S. is in question.
I never said the system was perfect. However, without proper paper trail even U.S. Nationals can be held. I'm just making the assumption it got worked out, since your here on the internet, or are you now is Asia someplace?
Sounds like your co-workers relatives brought her here and never bothered with the naturalization process for her. It happened a lot after WWII.
I mean... SHE'S ONLY 13!!!!!
.
That's a big one, Hope people there stay safe.
I hope people there just STAY. Period.
I saw the youtube video (Earthquake Warning For March 22,2012 by Terral03) a month ago which for those of you who don't know, the March 22 date comes from a cycle discovered that is 188 days apart for the past 4 EQs, Chile, New Zealand, Japan and Figi 3 of which shifted the earth off it's axis, and have been waiting to see if the prediction plays out. Then today,7.4 in Mexico ! I suspect that we will see an even stronger one today 22 of March or tomorrow due to the planetary alignment (see: Solarsystem scope.com) Those who have had high magnitude quakes in the past few years should stay alert the next day or two. Oh yea,and IRIS has just recently installed over 400 transportable seismic monitors along the New Madrid Fault Zone from Michigan to central Florida!!!
Hope that's not a popular spring break spot this year...
The way the cartels are operating why would any place be a hot spot.
As usual, Brian, you have no idea what you're talking about. The drug cartels are not all over Mexico. They're mainly in the towns that border the US. If you go to Mexico, you're perfectly safe in the resort towns. I spent a week in Playa del Carmen in January and it was wonderful. The people are great - of course, you have to speak Spanish to know that, and I really don't believe that someone as ill-informed as you obviously are would care about learning about other cultures, but it's the truth. It's unfortunate that there's so much misinformation floating around when there are so many lazy people willing to latch onto it rather than learning for themselves.
brian-1924638
You remind me of Europeans who don't want to visit the Grand Canyon because of New York gangs. You guys are equally irrational.
Tell that to the bus load of cruise ship passengers in Puerto Vallerta.
obviously you didn't see the news about the beheadings outside of Acapulco or get the warnings about travel to Mexico from "our" government. I have traveled all over in Mexico for years and found it safe. NOT anymore. Did you read the article about the main drug lord staying in Los Cabos (Cabo San Lucas) that just got away from the federal police. It sounds like you are ill-informed. It isn't misinformation.
What_the_81;
So your saying the travel warnings issued by the state department are false? Your saying the violence isn't real? Prove it, shoot on down and see for yourself. I used to travel to Mexico for vacations, you couldn't get me to go now if you paid me. Kidnapping "Gringo's" has become a cottage industry in Mexico, if you don't have the money for ransom, they may find you in a ditch,,,,, eventually. Mexico is a hole.
Fine, don't go to Mexico!! Go live in fear
Add the fear of being kidnapped & beheaded to your fears of nuclear-terrorism, cyber-terrorism, pandemics, economic collapse, Dec 2012 apocalypse, your daughters being strippers, etc.
I don't care, more beer and fish tacos for me!!
Ha!! Ckelley and what_the, your ignorance is almost on a par with your lack of logic and misdirection of your rants.
Check your facts before you get up on your high horses and start spewing nonsense at people who actually know what they are talking about.
Just because you spent a nice week in the tourist trap of Playa del Carmen doesn't mean people weren't getting decapitated in Acapulco.
81;
It ain't fear, it's common sense. The cartels and other thugs are waging a war in Mexico and foreigners are being snatched everyday and you think it show superior intelligence to travel to this place? Then why a few weeks in Yemen, Syria or Sierra Leon? You should feel safe there as well. No my friend, it shows you either have no concern for your safety or you just like to tempt fate. Either way, I'll say "I told you so" if it hits the news when you vanish. And Mexico is a hole, enjoy the fish taco and Montezuma's revenge, chief. Have a ball, man.
I've always enjoyed Mexico and I know many of the vacation spots large and small but I always paid for my own trips. Obama sent his daughter to Mexico at my expense - she took 12 of her little 13 year old friends and 25 secret service men - I love Mexico -I hate paying for her vacation however and Spring break for 13 year olds what is this mother thinking? What are these parents thinking? Thirteen year olds on Spring break. Terrible parenting.
Nicodemus1946
Thank you, I will. People on here are so nice, so nice.
81;
Take some extra cash for bribes, ransom and such. Good luck, stay safe and have Uno Servasa, (probably not spelled right), for me.
'What-the-81' says: "You remind me of Europeans who don't want to visit the Grand Canyon because of New York gangs. You guys are equally irrational."
Actually they don't want to visit the Grand Canyon because two British women were taken captive there by two gunmen who'd already murdered another British subject a few days earlier. The two women survived.
Why would anyone want to visit Mexico when -- according to O'Reilly -- even the Mexican police are dangerous for American citizens?
I
Nicodemus
is spell Cerveza put in your dictionary.
81;
I will join you for the tacos
ckelley116
The drug cartels have a strong presence in Acapulco. 12 police officers were just murdered for investigating the beheading of fellow officers. Eat your words ckelley, EAT EM!
And there is no corruption, no murders or kidnappings happening in is US? Then we have Florida, the psycho nut job capital of the free world, where the children are treated like disposable paper towels.
I have been going to Mexico (Puerto Vallarta) for about 15 years. I know where to go and where to stay away from (just like NYC). Not once have I ever been harassed or mugged.
I lived/worked 2.5 years in New Orleans and that was the most unsafe place my job ever sent me. You couldn't pay me to go back there for any reason. I was mugged twice in the middle of the French Quarter walking home from work in broad daylight. The drunks and drug addicts just stumble around, totally in a fog.
I hope to retire to PV someday. The average Mexican is polite and friendly, unlike the rude, crass, politically hysterical bigots who post here. I never get sick in PV....what a bigoted stereotype. It shows the smallness of your brains.
What_the_81: Save me a palapa on the beach. I love fish tacos!
Amazing how y'all complain about Mexicans who decide to exercise their RIGHTS by doing whatever the hell they want whenever the hell they want. Here in the U.S.A. the Tea-Taggers call it "Patriotism".
Rude, crass, politically hysterical bigots our post here." Then I assume you include the Hispanics, European, Asian and yourself in that statement, then? If you love Mexico so much, become a Mexican citizen. Just take out kidnap insurance. Hell, that way when you want to come back, you can hire a coyote to sneak in with the rest of them. LMAO!!!! The touristy places aren't the real Mexico. Go inland away from the coastal resorts and have a look around. I've traveled Mexico extensively in years past, the real Mexico, not the "Gringo Havens" along the coasts.If you retire their I suggest a well paid security person, otherwise, make sure you pay those insurance premiums. The first time you get napped, you may feel differently.
Unless you send your kids to the same private school as the Obama's, you are not paying for this trip. It's a school field trip for Christ's sake, not a private vacation.
You ARE paying for her security, but that goes wherever she goes, regardless. And I highly doubt it's 25, where did that rumor even start?
So your contention is the school is paying for the secret service detail? Her travel expense for the Air Force or chartered jet they fly on, and all the rest of her special needs as one of the first kids? Really? You seriously think we aren't paying for all this? How thick are you, really? Perhaps a break from the Hooka?
Did I not say that her security was a separate issue? We always pay for her security, whether she's in Mexico or at home on the sofa. Maybe you should learn to read.
My contention was that the school (or the Obama's) are paying for her VACATION. All I've seen is rampant speculation regarding Sam 28000 and "25 security agents". Internet rumor doesn't carry a lot of weight with me, sorry.
How about you get back to me when you feel the need to call out posters wishing harm on the man's daughter, something you've ignored several times to complain about vacations in Hawaii. Or perhaps that's not an issue with you.
Well, we'll see who paid for what when I go over the GAO's report of executive spending this fall. It's a fascinating read, and available upon request, public records, ever looked into any of them? No? What a surprise.
my husband has to work right near the border of Mexico (on US side)...he cannot go out past dark with all the "activity" that goes on in the area he is in. This earthquake will just mean more illegal immigration to the US...I am sorry for the people of Mexico that have been affected by the earthquake but they need to stay and rebuild instead of just taking the easy way and illegally immigrating to America.
The fab five;
It's not immigrating, immigrating implies following the Immigration laws. Invading is a more accurate term. I can think of no country in history that has had even close 13 million troops invade it and survive. You can believe if the economy collapses, like the terror scare after 9/11, they will look like lemmings running back south.
Do you often hold question and answer seminars with yourself? Easier than dealing with actual conversation and facts, I guess.
When will the Earthquakes stop!? The Earth is going to implode at this rate...
If you know anything about plate Tectonics.....never....
It must be because we aren't praying hard enough. lol
If earthquakes were to stop that would be a sign the Earth was dieing. Earthquakes are healthy for the planet, they just suck for us when we get caught in them.
Geologically dead planets do not generate magnetic fields, without a magnetic field solar winds will blow away the atmosphere into deep space, without an atmosphere liquid water can not be sustained at the surface so the oceans will evaporate and be blown away into space. In the end we'll be left with a lifeless rock.
So please be careful what you wish for.
No it's not! The EArth NEEDS to release it's pressure every so often,otherwise,IT will implode:)
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP
Good, the sooner it implodes the better.
There was another quake on the opposite side of the pacific plate that occured at essentially the same time (about 2 minutes apart). Another in Indonesia about 2 hours prior.
Something is making that plate "float" an aweful lot lately!
I do know something about plate tectonics, thank you very much. I was making a joke. Sheesh, some people need to lighten up a little. This is coming from a 13 year old girl with a 151 IQ.
Congrats Nikki, Mensa member? And yes the quakes are the work of plate tectonics. As is the rapid increase in volcanic activity around the globe.
It's coming from some random on the internet...
@Nicodemus;
Do you work or have a life? I look at your posts and it looks to me your on here every thirty minutes to an hour, the way I can tell is from the time at the bottom of your comments. Can you do something more creative with your time?
chris-2252558
leave Nicodemus1846 alone. He needs to troll the virtual world because his gun collection can't intimidate anyone on here.
Chris;
Yes I do, I run my own businesses and make a very good living thank you very much. And thanks to the libs, I'm having a record eighth year in a row. What I do with my time is my business, kind of a perk of being the boss. The products I create sell on commission starting at $8200. The other shop sells stock products and is on track for high figure profit this year. Again, I have the freedom to do pretty much what I please, when I please. I'm not chained to a clock. Start a business and get it up and running, It's a lot of work, but it clearly has it's rewards. The people who work for me earn a very good salary, have health, dental,vision and life insurance, all paid, and two weeks paid vacation. They also get profit sharing. And all the while selling a product that you rabid Libs despise. So yeah, life is good. I have the means to do what I like to do, when I want to. And piss off the Pelosi's and other hypocrites of the country at the same time. Hand me a bud light, cause it don't get any better than this. LMAO!!!!!
How about you? Have a job? A life? Provide a living for others? It's easy to speculate, but like the old saying goes, "Appearances can be very deceiving".
That's what I think..was all those college kids on spring break drunk and dancing around that caused it to shake!
LOL most of them probably just thought the shaking was them being drunk...
Who still goes to Mexico for spring break? Don't you get your head cut off and your body left in the street down there?
Ed-1117913
based on your comment, we know you've NEVER been down there
I have, it sucks. Trot on down and see for yourself. Of course, you may come back in a bag, but hey, some people have to learn for themselves. I guess you know better than the state department. Nice picture, by the way. Village people much?
Nicodemus1946
It sucks to be anywhere when you have a sucky attitude. Judging by your screename, it makes sense that you've become cynical, the timing is about right. Country club types and those rushing to Denny's for the senior discount - most likely won't have a good time in Mexico.
Country club types?!?,, me? Now THAT'S funny. Yeah, I can see me hanging out with a bunch of stiffs with a stick in the ass. Clearly, you can't judge me by screen name. I'm a gunsmith and custom rifle builder. I've been to many countries that don't suck. Then again, they aren't in the middle of a war for control of the country either. I don't go to Syria, Sierra Leon, Egypt or many other places for that reason. When and IF Mexico gets their affairs in order, I'll go back, In the mean time I'll spend my money and time in places where the threat is minimal. You confuse attitude and common sense, but hey, that's on you.
Nicodemus1946,
What should I expect to pay in order to have a Model 1935 Berretta pistol re'blued, and the chamber re'ground for .386 ACP? It takes that round at the moment, but the first one goes in with difficulty. It was originally made for "9mm corto."
And, oh yes, I am a "Country Club" member. It goes with home ownership around here.
Why go to Mexico? The US is a beautiful place and our own countrymen and women could use the tourist dollars too.
ercillor-2107261
Duh, it's cheaper. You can buy food on the street and pay for taxis and buses using spare change in your pocket. Where else can you spend a night in a nice hotel, have 3 full meals, and go shopping for around 100 dollars per day??
Triple that and that how much it costs in the US for the same experience!
Andale!! Vamos a Mexico!! Epa Epa!!!
Yo, Nicodemus1946, take a trip anywhere at all (especially Miami, New York or Los Angeles) and you risk going home in a body bag. Yeah, there's gang violence EVERYWHERE!
And if the gangs don't get ya -- then the TORNADOES, the HURRICANES, the BLIZZARDS, the EARTHQUAKES, the MUDSLIDES, etc, etc, etc will.
Okay lets take these in order;
ercillor; the 9mm Corto/short is basically a .380 acp, all the will be required is to lengthen the chamber about .5mm. With a good cold rust bluing as used originally it will cost you around $200.00. Sorry about the country club crack, bur all of them I've ever been around were a bunch of stiffs.
Yo, Quaked one;
I travel to most major cities in the U.S. once tor twice a year. I have never had a problem in any of them except Detroit and that was nothing serious. Some smart ass kid, probably a lot like you, who thought he would relieve me of my money. All he got was a trip in a squad car and five minutes of staring down the bore of my .45. I have also traveled extensively in Europe, I got held up at knife point in Brussels and Paris. No guns allowed to prevent being robbed, Go figure.
Natural disasters my uninformed friend are not exclusive to the U.S. See topic of this article, earth quake? Mexico? Ring any bells? What is the point of your rant, exactly?
.386???????????????
81;
Then just move to Mexico and enjoy. Hell, renounce your citizenship while your at it. Good luck finding work though, unless it's a bar tender or towel boy at one of the resorts, if your lucky maybe one of the auto makers will put on at 3 bucks an hour. Wait, the cartels are always looking for a few good mules. LOL!!! You probably drive a freaking Prius too.
roc;
It was a typo, he meant .380 ACP. I caught it.
Wondering, or it was something new. Ruger Compac .380
Nicodemus1946
I just said I love vacationing down there. Does that mean I should move there? Using that rationale you should pack all your guns that make you feel tough and move to Detroit since you loved it so much over there.
QUOTE(S): ".386???????????????" "It was a typo, he meant .380 ACP. I caught" "Wondering, or it was something new. Ruger Compac .380"
Guess I'll never hear the end of that one... It wasn't so much a "typo" as a result of oncoming old age... 386 was the name of a popular Intel processor a few years back... That's what I did for a living before retirement.
god bless them all
And so he gives them an earthquake? You can't have it both ways.
Shhh Steve! They don't like that.
Ah Steve, lighten up. I am not a believer, but I can still appreciate djb's sentiment. I am glad that it seems like there has been minimal injuries to the people in the nearby area, and I hope it stays that way.
It seems some do not truly understand the blessing of God. I also wish God blesses all those people in need right now. You can experience blessing in the midst suffering. And God isn't less loving because he allows sufferings. In fact, the most intimate, awe-inspiring and grace-filled blessings cannot come without some form suffering... for examples, read the beatitudes.
Bitter, everyone can read and you already made your point. Thanks for the info, and we can find them if we want to read them. I wish the best for them as well, but will do it how I personally choose, thanks.
again, another load of crap...keep drinking the koolaid kid
Steve - Your statement shows a lack of respect for any other opinion than your own. If you were educated on the subject, you would know earthquakes are essential to maintaining our atmosphere and habitat for humans to exist. God doesn't place people in harms way on purpose, People have free will to move about the earth as they please, even if it means their life may be endangered by fire, earthquakes, floods, etc. We don't blame parents of earthquake victims or tornado victims because they CHOSE for their child to be raised in those areas, just like you shouldn't blame God for maintaining our habitat by using volcanoes, earthquakes, weather, etc.
It takes an a whole lot more faith to deny God's existence and then blame Him for every bad thing that occurs in life than to accept that fact that we are imperfect creatures living in an imperfect world.
ITripleDogDareYou!,
And your point was??????????
the point was the earthquakes are a result of the laws of nature, not the wrath of God.
Consider the man Job.
Niels Bohr, the famous Danish physicist was once found to have a rabbit's foot key-chain on his desk. When asked if he "really believed in such superstitious nonsense," he was quick to reply: "Of course not but, you know, they say that sometimes it works even if one does not believe."
You guys say one for me too... It couldn't possibly hurt.
Doesn't take long for trollers to hit these news feeds.
Yet it took the troll police all the way to comment #9 to arrive on the scene to chastise them.
Not sure who is the real troll here Mike..
People are dying as we read this
and people are being born . . .as we read this! OMG!
and . . . somewhere . . . people are using birth control . . . as we read this!!!
will this madness never end?
True, people are dying everywhere for that matter. Life = Death.
Rodger;
People die everyday. 10 to 15,000 will die in Africa before sunset for no reason at all. Where's your bleeding heart for them? you give your $25 a year to green peace and think your changing the world? The world is a cruel place. There is no safe haven, regardless what the current crop pf political liars tell you. You can step off a curb and be run over by a bus. Nature shows no favoritism. Storms, wild fires, earth quakes, Solar flares. If you happen to be in the way, you may die. That's just the way it goes, deal with it. From your first breath, you begin to die, that's a fact.
Nicodemus1946,
Cheer up! I hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Roger Ramjet says: "People are dying as we read this"
Roger,
If you want to live forever go and live in those parts of the world where few literate people have ever died... There are lots of those places.
Nicodemus1946, I do hope that you never need to count on the help and/or compassion of others at any time. The reason I hope this is because
ercillor;
Cheer Up?!? I'm having a great time. Stirring up the libs and such is big fun. It is way too easy, however, all it takes are a few facts. Facts really confuse some of them.
Quacked:
Again, what part of people die every day isn't true? There is nothing untrue in the paragraph you find exception with. Get outside your tiny little room and look around. The world is a cold cruel palace for many. It has been for the entirety of human existence and that isn't likely to change anytime soon. No matter what your rose colored glasses and indoctrination tells you. You will come to realize that in a few decades.
I was smack dab in the middle of the Northridge quake, my prayers are with those people, its really a horrifing experience. The aftershocks can do even more damage. Still have epsiods of PTSD, when we have the slightest quake.
i hope this is a trend leading up to something world wide. :)
It has ben worldwide for the last few million years.
Catseyetiger,
You know it is. I can't wait.
Catseyetiger;
This is nothing new. It has been going on since the formation of the planet. It will continue long after all of us are gone. 93% of all life the ever existed on this planet has been exterminated. We may very likely been next. Consult the fossil record, it explains much. We have existed in a temperate Lull between climate extremes. Those extremes have been the norm for planet earth for 3 billion years.Do you honestly believe the planets cycles are going to change for us? Kind of an arrogant position, dont you think? After all, the last ice age ended just 25,000 years ago.
As if you would be immune from the cataclysm if it were to come...
Zombie apocalypse is what its going lead up to worldwide! The earth is going to open up and release a virus of cataclysmic proportions!!!
What? The Walking Dead doesn't come on until October. I need something in the mean time.
I was waiting on the zombie apocalypse thing to pop up. Zombie's, walking dead types or the urban street thug types don't concern me. I live way out in the sticks and have tons of ammo. .50 caliber long distance, I'll reach out a touch some people. He-He!! Just another type of target practice.
And when you run out of ammo, Nicodemus1946 -- others will be shooting you with arrows. Or they may just set fire to your house and kill you as you run from it, since there is zero chance of your being able to stay awake 24/7/365. Big talk from what appears to be a small mind is what you have shown, Nicodemus1946.
Quacked;
Clearly, you have never seen my ammo bunker. Me running out of ammo would take decades, and I have presses set up to reload, several hundred pounds of powder, hundreds of thousand of bullets, cases and primers. And lots and lots of guns they fit. No need to stay awake, I'll have my family here to take their shifts. That's the nice part of having over 600 acres of land, I can see them a Loooong way off. If the fifty don't get them the .408 will. If I feel nostalgic I'll light them up with a 50-250-505 Sharps at around 1800 meters. So bring on the piddling AK's, knives, arrows, ball bats, sticks, zombies, thugs, whatever. LMAO!!!!! Good luck to you, when it all goes sideways, just don't expect my help. You should change your handle to "Cracked" since you sound like your cracked out anyway.
Ohh Nico your so funny. Although a gun store is probably going to be my first stop in a zombie apocolypse. Have you thought about rations such as food? Don't tell me you stocked up food and water that will last you 20 years.
And they always seem to get the first comment...
hope everyone is ok
WOW... 7.6 magnitude.... I bet a lot of burritos lost their stuffings !
USGS is reporting 7.6 @ Oxaca, with one earlier at 6.2 @ Papua, Indonesia.
Hope it was in a fairly unpopulated area. Hope is there is a tsunami that all climb to safety...God Bless everyone!
not that I give into conspiracy theories, but It's very coincidental that a big earthquake was predicted for March 22...just 2 days away.
P-Runk
You do know that there is an earthquake EVERYDAY along the ring of fire right? So much for your conspiracy theory.
Join the USGS, Runk.....................They happen several times each day in several places each day. No coincidence at all.
And not just on the Ring of Fire. All over this planet. Read up a little and get with the program!
Earthquakes are common around the ring of fire. If you check USGS's website, you'd see that they happen pretty frequently. I just took this off their site a few minutes ago, and these are just the "significant" earthquakes. This doesn't include the smaller ones:
Magnitude 7.4 OAXACA, MEXICO March 20, 2012
Magnitude 6.9 OFF THE EAST COAST OF HONSHU, JAPAN March 14, 2012
Magnitude 6.7 VANUATU March 09, 2012
Magnitude 4.0 SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, CALIFORNIA March 05, 2012
Magnitude 6.6 SOUTHEAST OF THE LOYALTY ISLANDS March 03, 2012
Magnitude 6.7 SOUTHWESTERN SIBERIA, RUSSIA February 26, 2012
Magnitude 6.0 OFF THE COAST OF OREGON February 15, 2012
Magnitude 6.4 SOLOMON ISLANDS February 14, 2012
Magnitude 5.6 NORTHERN CALIFORNIA February 13, 2012
Magnitude 6.7 NEGROS - CEBU REGION, PHILIPPINES February 06, 2012
Magnitude 7.1 VANUATU February 02, 2012
Magnitude 6.3 NEAR THE COAST OF CENTRAL PERU January 30, 2012
Magnitude 6.6 SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS January 15, 2012
Magnitude 7.2 OFF THE WEST COAST OF NORTHERN SUMATRA January 10, 2012
Magnitude 6.6 SANTA CRUZ ISLANDS January 09, 2012
Magnitude 6.8 IZU ISLANDS, JAPAN REGION January 01, 2012
Oh, you pessimists! Let someone dream!!
(Notice: P-Runk said "big earthquake" as in something notable... not this lackluster 7.2 nonsense.)
We shall see. WE SHALL SEE!!!!!
I think what the man is talking about is the 188 day theory. Now there may be earthquakes everyday but once you start getting to 7.5 or the bad one today at 7.3, it time to pay attention. This devastating earthquake has been predicted and talked about for the last few months. Like it or not you go back every 188 days there has been a devastating earthquake somewhere in the world. At the very least, every 188 days that devastation has made the MSM and it wasn't good. Too bad there's no way of knowing when or where but at least be extra prepared within this next week.
The equation is a little different but Ill let you guys look that up. Now this 188 day theory doesnt go back forever but I believe it started with the big Indonesia quake back in, I believe 04'. Conspiracy or not it seems to be some type of revolution that no one knows about or at least i don't know about.
My prayers goes out!!
Oh my god it's the end of the world! Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and no winter! Duck and cover mother-fockers!
Love it! Thanks for the laugh! Not sure why it struck me as funny.
It's good that the eldest Obama girl is in Eastern Mexico with 12 of her friends and 25 secret service agents.
I wonder if they flew on AF1?
proamerica-1148973 - they traveled the way all other President's children have traveled. And, no it wasn't on AF1. AF1 is only AF1 when the President is on the plane.
It's only called Airforce One when the President is on the plane. When he's not on it we call it a gas guzzling, carbon spewing, billion dollar toy that every teenage girl should have at her disposal.
I think the correct call sign is Air Force 1.
Only when El Presidenta Supreme is on board. The rest of the time they go by other call signs. And there are at least two of them, along with 6 presidential helicopters, a few dozen limos,countless SUV's, sedans and other vehicles we get to pay for. Why do these "men of the people" not fly commercial like everyone else? Even booking all of first class would be far cheaper than a trip by these vulgar displays of elitism. One man, regardless of party or station, should not have to have 250 people tag along. If the trip is that risky, have them come here. I tire of the pomp and grandeur of these "Civil Servants" of all stripes. The Hypocrisy is another sore point. Nancy Pelosi claims to be about gun control, it this is true, why does she carry a .40 caliber Glock pistol? And Ted Kennedy,Mr. gun control owned hundreds of firearms and when called on it his response was, "Some classes of people are more responsible than others". I think they are all self absorbed, narcissistic children.
Oh no, gods forbid that the president has transportation...
Wow, for an edu-ma-kated person, this "pro-america" sure is iggerent. "AF-1"? I have heard of "Air Force One", but never "AF-1". Is that a new kind of aeroplane, "pro-america"?
Here's a small lesson for ya, "pro-america": ANY aircraft operated by the U.S. Air Force that the PRESIDENT happens to be on is automatically "Air Force One" -- but ONLY when the PRESIDENT happens to be on it. Now that you've been given a little help with your research, it is time for you to go do the rest of it for yourself.
And God forbid that anyone at all, even Nancy Pelosi, be for the control of who gets to have a gun at all. Nice of you to pick on ONLY "liberals", while even your "conservative" heroes are calling for MORE Government Regulation of who is, and is not, allowed to own and/or carry a firearm in public.
Indeed. Gun control is not gun bans, so why would her owning one be hypocritical? Is she suggesting she be exempt from the qualifications? No, she's suggesting it's to damn easy to get a gun.
Cracked err Quacked;
If you read any of my posts you would have seen I am not a member of ANY of the parties. The four form the acronym D.I.R.T. Dirt, as in ALL dirty ALL the time. The one thing they all have in common is, If their mouth is moving, they ARE lying to you. I respond to you libs because you clearly have no idea what your talking about and it's easy to get you stirred up, all it takes are a few facts. Pelosi was just to point of her hypocrisy. IF she is so staunchly against guns, why does she carry one? She has a security detail. Like Ted Kennedy had a large gun collection, and that's fine, However his response to owning them was "Some classes of people are more responsible than others". Elitist much? Arrogant much? Since he was MR. gun control, apparently for everyone but him and his fellows. What was it Jefferson said, "The public should not live in fear of the government, rather, it is the government should fear the people".
As for ease of acquisition Capt Tripps, go to any street corner and you'll find some creep willing to sell you a stolen gun. Do something about that as the 1934 National Firearms Act provides. Put criminals in prison, as it provides. Contrary to what the media tells you, drugs are not the only thing the cartels send across the border. Where do you suppose the machine guns came from. You can't go to any gun shop, gun show, or dealer and buy one without a lot of paper work, registration, taxes and proper storage before transfer.
You kids are calling out the wrong one on gun laws. I've been a gunsmith and custom rifle builder for over thirty years, I know gun laws. I have all 27,734 in binders in my office. Why don't we try enforcing the laws on the books? I know it's a crazy concept and tough for you anti-gun drones to understand, but I bet it will work. Start with putting convicted felons in prison for the prescribed ten year for possessing a firearm (that's a gun) as the NFA prescribes. Lets start there. Possession of a stolen gun, five years.
Except that hand guns account for something like 85% of gun related homicides, and 55% of all homicides, period. So clearly "machine guns" are not the primary concern.
Also a good link to a blurb with the stat that requiring background checks at gun shows halves the rate (by population) at which guns from that state end up being used (or at least recovered and traced) in crimes in America.
Stats taken from the AFI, an organization with an obvious pro gun bias, but some decent information.
Here's some news from Mexico for a change that's not related to drug violence.
It's probably so much gunfire that it is showing up on the Richter Scale.
sonar guy - When were you in Uncle Sam's Navy?
I'm waiting for any news from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Detroit, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Miami that isn't somehow related to GANG VIOLENCE. Yeah, you ain't the only one who can make stupid comments, "Sees Thru Glass".
Oh, poor Mexico... If it's not the drug cartels or some pesky earthquake they get the Barack & Eric "Fast & Furious" reality show to contend with! Actually, come to think of it... couldn't have happened to a nicer, more worthless bunch of illegal immigrants, eh?
End Obamunism!
Anyone but "Barack the Buffoon" in 2012!
Howlin'MadMac - your moniker is perfect for you.
Obama/Biden 2012
How can any nutcase vote for Obama again??
Yup! I'm a howlin' mad 'cause some dumbass closet Muslim socialist managed to BS the poor, ignorant masses to afford him 4 years to destroy the American Constitution... I'm just so glad however that Obama is such a complete & utter FAILURE!!!!!
By not pulling their heads out of a dark hole.
Easy to vote Obama...when you look at who he'll be running against!
More clowns than Barnum & Bailey
Howlin'MadMac
So you clicked on an article about an earthquake and decided this had something to do with Obama?
@Howlin, You my friend are an IDIOT!!!!!
No my friend, I am a Republican however you sir are an IDIOT for supporting the lamest excuse for a President the United States has ever seen... and if you can remember Jimmy Carter that's saying a helluva lot!
Oh and "what_the_81"... Yes, didn't you know? Everything wrong with the world today, well IT'S ALL OBAMA'S FAULT! Nice picture there btw... Village People tryouts today I'm guessing? So butch!
Republican Teddy Roosevelt built the Panama canal, Democrat Jimmy Carter gave it away.
Man, that fracking knows no limits!
Prayers for those affected.
Have Obama check the earth quake out!
I thought the Obama administration had a blackout on news coming out of Mexico. Maybe that was just for the 25 secret service agents who've been sent there along with Obama's daughter. A place where normal Americans, who don't have 25 secret service agents at their disposal, aren't supposed to go.
Aside from the fact that Obama can't "blackout" any news (and only requested they not report on his daughter's vacation as they were not with her), that area of Mexico is, I believe, not under a travel advisory.
I wonder if the cartels know where she is at? She would be worth a handsome ransome. Sounds almost like a movie plot.
How old is this kid? And she needs a "Spring Break" in Mexico?
Can't blackout news? Ever hear of the massive demonstration in Washington DC on July 4 after obama's election?
I didn't think so
she needs a break from the grueling vacation schedule of her parents
She's got a good role model as to how taxpayers need to be bilked for vacations after all the stress of not having to lift a finger to do anything while in the white house.
LeeSoCal, when exactly did taking a vacation at the time school lets out for a week midway through second semester (commonly referred to as Spring Break) become inherently synonymous with "Spring Break"? My family often went somewhere for Spring Break when I was in elementary school up into high school, but it never included the alcohol and debauchery of the modern connotations with "Spring Break." Give the kid a break and let her spend a week off school without your inappropriate insinuations that she is going to do something bad. Sometimes a vacation during Spring break is just a vacation during Spring Break.
Ah "Obama Lies" and American Citizen.
Obviously you both suffer from short term memory loss. At this point in his presidency Bush and his family racked WAY more mileage on vacation and other non-business travel then our current president. But I guess the facts are inconvenient aren't they????
what kind of parents send a 13 year old on Spring break? That was at least for the junior/senior year of high school and 99% of the time for college - I have many college degrees and went on a few spring breaks myself but nor the alcohol ones. She took 12 of her classmates and 25 secret service men - and he is a leader? This is more than selfish, self-centered, self-obsessed, greedy, and stupid. POur news media didn't report it and some of the web sites had the news taken off - I saw that myself - if this were normal behavior it wouldn't be this way .... he's such a poser... I just found this web site about Obama and his real name. check it out - we have been duped!

"At this point in his presidency", Wow, you mean it about over!! It was at the end of his second term Bush had spent this much on travel. But then, Obama spent 65 million a day for his first hundred days in office, that's more than the last 6 Presidents combined. Facts are inconvenient, especially when they come back to bite you.
Looks like people such as this "Obama Lies" have conveniently forgotten about how BUSH 2 made sure that news coverage of any protests against HIS Administration was kept to a minimum. Also how BUSH 2 made sure that any protests were at least a mile from what was being protested. Also how BUSH 2 made sure that the questions asked by reporters were "agreeable". etc, etc, etc, etc, etc........
Y'all sure do have selective memories.
Nicodemus - here's a fact for you, Congress, specifically the House of Representatives, writes the budget, and allots funds for the Federal government, not the President.
America - it's not a black out if no one's interested. Quite different things.
Everyone goes on Spring Break, unless your in some weird school with no vacations. She's actually on a school trip, which is why so many classmates are with her, not a private vacation anyway. Her security, which probably does not consist of 25 Secret Service agents (a number I imagine someone just pulled out of their ass and put on the internet, hoping it would stick) goes where she goes, for whatever reason she is there.
I found it so refreshing to hear the truth on some of these comments. This is going to be another way, excuse for more Mexican illegals to get into the US, live off the corrupt system that us taxpayers pay, Mexicans just get everything for FREE especially when they have a ton of kids. They do not only have all of these kids because the US will support them but they are mostly Catholic & Catholics DO NOT BELIEVE in BIRTH CONTROL. Wow, how convenient for the Catholic Church, more pesos for them & they need those pesos for the $660,000.00 they owe to make the child molestation issue go away. Does anyone know where those priests are now. We will never get the truth on that issue. I am grateful that it is making the Catholic Church, one of the richest organizations in the world finally pay for something.
Hypocrisy is a Bi$$h !!!
Capt Tripps;
True Congress does set the budget, with input form every branch. The GAO, General Accounting Office, is not part of Congress, it is the accounting wing of the U.S. Treasury Department. It accounts for all expenditures, Including Executive branch as well as all other discretionary spending. Discretionary spending is not budgeted, rather, it is paid from the treasuries general fund(Tax Money). You might want to brush up on your American Government courses.
I have made no mention of the first kids vacation beyond her "special needs" as a first kid, will come out of tax money. Not some private school as was presented to me in a much earlier post. I didn't say she should not have them, she is the daughter of the president. as such, she can not be left unguarded. Any moron knows she will not travel without them. Well, apparently not you. Try to keep up and at least know what your talking about.
Well your no the least informed guy on the board, which isn't saying much, but you're still making @!$%# up. The President did not spend 65 million a day (nor more than the last 4 Presidents combined). That's what I said, why not address that? Who even brought the GAO up? They just issues receipts/budget estimates. And discretionary spending is definitely budgeted, it's not an unlimited amount of cash, and it's allotted by Congress the same as any other funds.
As was the Stimulus, which I suspect is where that number you touted above is coming from, and why it's BS.
Also you seem to be selectively ignoring a large segment of comments if you didn't realize who the second paragraph of mine above was directed towards. Odd, that you would give them a pass, when you clearly like arguing budget semantics.
