Queen Elizabeth marked 60-years on the throne with a Diamond Jubilee address at Westminster Hall where she praised England's resilience and noted the support of her family. ITN's Tim Ewart reports.
Britain's Queen Elizabeth celebrated 60 years on the throne Tuesday with a fanfare-filled address to Parliament in Westminster Hall.
The 85-year-old queen addressed both the House of Lords and the Commons, an honor reserved only for monarchs and the most illustrious visitors.
"Since my accession, I have been a regular visitor to the Palace of Westminster and, at the last count, have had the pleasurable duty of treating with 12 prime ministers," said the queen, drawing laughter from an audience that included the latest three: Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and David Cameron.
She also said a constant in her life has been her husband, Prince Philip.
The queen made similar speeches in parliament to mark her Silver Jubilee in 1977 and her Golden Jubilee in 2002.
The main celebrations of her Diamond Jubilee weekend will be held June 2-5.

60 years on the throne?! man her butt must be sore, hope she had a lot of toilet paper.
Why is Charles crying?
Because he wants to be King and his mother doesn't want him to be king. In fact, no one else wants him to be king either, except for his horse faced wife.
She does look a bit like Secretariat.
I beg to differ, Secretariat is farer in face.
Considering how long women live in her family, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect to witness her 75th anniversary.
The Queen's mother (the "Queen Mum" died at 101 or 102 ! That was amazing. I think the Queen wants to celebrate her 65th as the longest reigning British monarch, passing up Queen Victoria. However, I would like to see Prince William and Princess Kate follow her after she abdicates in 2017, hoping that Prince Charles would graciously decline his rights to the throne. The UK monarchy needs someone Younger to refresh the image of the Royal Family and the monarchy. I think that was seen in the Royal Wedding last year. It would have a good psychological effect on the British people also. Americans don't usually seem to appreciate the psychological importance of the monarchy to Britain nor the constitutional importance insofar as the Head of State is separate from the Head of Government and represents the Non-Political, historical, and cultural unity of the British people.
Sixty years on the "throne"???
I was always told that even an hour on "the throne" could give one hemorrhoids...
Wow! Take those Scandal mags outta the privy....quick...have a doctor standing by...
and i thought i was bad!
She has had a very good marriage with a good man. Huzzah!
I remember seeing an interview with several muslim americans after 9/11. They all claimed that islam was not represented by terrorism and killing, but every one of them also said "but", and then proceeded to provide what they considered logical reasoning for the terrorism and claimed that terrorism should be expected based on their reasoning. Assigning reason and logic to murder of innocents is the support terrorism receives from their fellow muslims, and makes islamists sound like cowards, unable to acknowledge and ferret out the demons supporting the monsters among them. A feeling of shared victimhood seems to allow groups to excuse the psycopaths among them. The reasoning expressed by this killer of jewish children was just an excuse for a psycopathic murderer, and failure to denounce it provides fertile ground for growing more psycopathic murderers from islam.
And why is this relevant to Queen Elizabeth's 60th anniversary?
Mario 69 it seems he mixed the news about the French terrorist that killed the Jews with this one.
That is a pretty sad mistake.
Its OK, Cdugga...you lie down and rest - the twitching will stop when you shutdown your PC...you'll see.
