French authorities: Explosions turn up pressure on suspect in Jewish school slayings

French police are demanding the surrender of Mohamed Merah, the suspect who allegedly shot seven people and then bragged of bringing France to its knees. NBC's Jim Maceda reports.

Updated at 11:01 p.m. ET: TOULOUSE, France – Three large explosions were heard late Wednesday at the siege of a suspect wanted in the killings of three Jewish children, a rabbi and three soldiers, but there were reports that the blasts were an attempt to pressure the man to surrender and did not signal the start of an assault.

Toulouse Deputy Mayor Jean-Pierre Havrin had said that negotiations with the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Mohammed Merah, had ended and an assault had begun.

But there were conflicting reports that authorities had blown open the apartment doors and windows in an attempt to pressure Merah to give up.

"They were moves to intimidate the gunman who seems to have changed his mind and does not want to surrender,'' Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet told Reuters. "There is no assault.''

Orange flashes lit up the night sky near the suspect's building as the first explosions were heard.

More than an hour later, several loud bangs were heard at the site.

Police reinforcements had arrived at the scene at around 10 p.m. and authorities switched off street lights in the street, signaling that action would begin soon.

The suspect wounded three police officers when the standoff began at 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Interior Minister Claude Gueant said earlier that Merah had told police that he would surrender after dark. Gueant said Merah appeared to have acted alone in the killings -- but also claimed to authorities that he met al-Qaida "chiefs" while traveling in Pakistan last year.

Merah, under siege by hundreds of police officers, claimed to be a member of al-Qaida and that he had shot dead the four out of "revenge for Palestinian children." He is also suspected by authorities of having killed three French soldiers of North African origin last week.

French prosecutor Francois Molins said Merah, a Frenchman of Algerian descent, told police he had been to Afghanistan twice and had trained in the militant stronghold of Waziristan.

Molins also said Merah had planned to kill another soldier and two police officials imminently, and that his brother had been implicated in a network sending fighters to Iraq.

Police sources earlier told Reuters that another man had been arrested earlier Wednesday at a separate location in connection with the case.

Several hours after the initial raid, which took at about 3 a.m. local time Wednesday (10 p.m. ET Tuesday), the alleged gunman threw a pistol out the window in exchange for a "communication device." However, he was believed to have other weapons including an AK-47 assault rifle.

The suspect said he would surrender in the late evening "to be more discreet," although he had earlier promised to give himself up during the afternoon.

"He claims to be a mujahedeen and to belong to al-Qaida," Gueant told journalists in Toulouse. "He wanted revenge for the Palestinian children and he also wanted to attack the French army because of its foreign intervention."

France 24 reported that Merah had been tracked by French intelligence services for several years.

An earlier Reuters report that Merah escaped in 2008 from Kandahar prison, where he had been serving a three-year sentence, was retracted by the news agency. Kandahar governor's office said that account was "baseless", citing judicial records. "Security forces in Kandahar have never detained a French citizen named Mohammad Merah," the governor's spokesman, Ahmad Jawed Faisal, said.

Citing prison documents, Kandahar prison chief Ghulam Faruq had told Reuters that Afghan security forces detained Merah on December 19, 2007, and that he was sentenced to three years in jail for planting bombs in the southern province of Kandahar, the Taliban's birthplace.

'God is testing us'
As the siege continued, the Haaretz newspaper reported that thousands of people had gathered at the Har HaMenuchotcemetery in Jerusalem Wednesday for a joint funeral service for the victims, Rabbi Jonathan Sandler and his two sons, Gabriel, aged six, and Arieh, three, and Miriam Monsonego, aged eight.

"Our hearts are with the Jews of France and with the Ozar Hatorah institutions that took such a hard and painful blow. The pain is unimaginable, God is testing us," Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai said in his eulogy, according to the paper.

President Nicolas Sarkozy, campaigning for re-election in a presidential poll in five weeks time, has blamed racism for Monday's school attack. His handling of the crisis could be a decisive factor in determining how the French people vote. France has troops in Afghanistan as part of NATO forces.

"Terrorism will not divide France," Sarkozy said. "We should not give way to discrimination or vengeance after shootings."

Gueant did not say how authorities had tracked Merah down.

However, a Le Figaro correspondent at the site of raid reported that police received key tip from a local motorcycle shop in Toulouse a few days ago, according to NBC News. A salesperson said a man came into the shop to ask how to neutralize the GPS system on his TMX scooter. The salesperson thought this was suspicious and reported incident to police, giving a description of the suspect.

Gueant said that when police arrived to raid the house "the wanted individual shot at the door." NBC News reported the officers were members of an elite team known as RAID.

All French shooting victims shot in the head at close range, prosecutor says

One officer was injured in the knee and another officer lightly injured in ensuing exchanges of gunfire, Gueant said. A third officer was later reported to have been hurt.

Heavily armed police in bullet-proof vests and helmets cordoned off the area where the raid was taking place, in a suburb only about 2 miles from the Ozar Hatorah Jewish school where Monday's shootings took place. NBC News reported that 300 officers were participating in the operation.

Suspect's mother called in
Merah's mother, elder brother and two sisters were detained by police on Tuesday and negotiators sought their help in trying to persuade him to turn himself in to the authorities.

"His mother said she did not wish to speak to him because she did not believe she could convince him and he would be deaf to her appeals," Gueant said.

The suspect inside the house said that he trained in the Pakistan and Afghanistan and is affiliated with Forca lesa, an Islamic group dismantled by the French government. The group, which recruits young French to join the jihad, is considered to be dangerous.

On Tuesday, hundreds of police officers had spread out across southern France in the hunt for the gunman suspected in three deadly attacks.

Authorities suspect the school killer was also behind two recent attacks in the same area on French paratroopers that left three soldiers dead and one seriously wounded. The victims were of North African and French Caribbean backgrounds.

A tense standoff unfolds in Toulouse, France, between police and the man suspected in a string of deadly shootings, including one at a Jewish school that killed three children and a rabbi.

Sarkozy described the killer as a "monster."

"There are beings who have no respect for life. When you grab a little girl to put a bullet in her head, without leaving her any chance, you are a monster. An anti-Semitic monster, but first of all a monster," he said.

Monday's incident was the deadliest school shooting in the country and the bloodiest attack on Jewish targets in decades. Schools across the country held a moment of silence Tuesday to honor the victims, who were heading to Israel for burial.

Gueant described the suspect as "someone very cold, very determined, very much a master of his movements, and by consequence, very cruel."

This was an absolute despicable act of savagery! The same gun that was used to murder Jewish children at point blank range was used recently (last week, I believe) to murder French military officers as well. Is there any reason that French President Sarkozy recently demanded enforcement of French immigration laws!?????!!!

Our wish our current leader (for whom I voted in '08) had that kind of commitment to the enforcement of our immigration laws. By contrast, the Obama Administration has pledged a commitment to the subversion of federal immigration laws by refusing to enforce the law as against millions of ILLEGAL immigrants, pledging rewards (in the form of amnesty and otherwise) for immigration lawbreaking, and suing states that are ravaged by ILLEGAL immigration which merely seek to enforce the equivalent of existing federal immigration law!

We need a leader who is willing to stand for the rights of American citizens and LEGAL immigrants. French citizens deserve to have their government protecting them rather than the foreign invaders into France.

A GOVERNMENT WHICH REFUSES TO ENFORCE ITS OWN LAWS IS INTOLERABLE!

Why are you talking about enforcing French Immigration laws? Did you not read that the three French soldiers who died were of "North African" descent? Which means they were Arabs/most likely Muslim.

The stupidity of the people who post on these articles can at times be mind-blowing. Some even more backwards than the terrorists themselves.

Ongoing gun battle with Islamic radicals in France, radicals accused of murdering soldiers and little Jewish children. Why am I not surprised that the murders were committed by radical Islamists?

Mo: I think if you'll check you'll discover that the vast majority of murders committed against Muslims are committed by Muslims. Sunni's kill Shia with alarming frequency and many of the suicide bombers are killing other Muslims with a great deal of indiscretion.

Toasty-- This is about ILLEGAL immigration and the polarization caused by it in France. ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION engenders a lack of assimilation and polarization. This is why Sarkozy made ILLEGAL immigration an issue before these murders occurred- because he recognizes the magnitude of the problem.

BUT THE MOST REVEALING THING ABOUT YOUR COMMENTS IS YOUR REFERENCE TO "MEXICANS". I didn't say anything whatsoever about "Mexicans" --- YOU DID THAT! Why when I mention ILLEGAL immigration do you start commenting about "Mexicans"?????? ILLEGAL immigrants are comprised of many nationalities in the U.S. However, YOU elected to equate an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT with being "Mexican"!!! Those are YOUR words, and they are both FALSE AND DESPICABLE --- but are consistent with YOUR general disposition and prior rhetorical tactics.

mygirl-

I'm extremely well versed in the socioeconomic, political, and religious history of the Middle East. If you had even a basic understanding of the region, you would realize how mind-blowingly idiotic it is to constantly blame things on "Islam". Listen people, there are a million "social", "political", "economic" and yes, "religious" reasons why the middle east is in the state it is now, but Islam does not constitute the entirety of it and to insinuate that these things happen because they're "Muslim" is painfully ignorant. Remember, for near 1000 years the Middle East was the epicenter of culture, science, art, philosophy, medicine, and yes, human rights, ALL UNDER ISLAM. Hmmm, maybe that means *GASP* other factors are involved in the turmoil of the modern Middle East? Nahhh, it's gotta all be Islam. Remember, Islam actually takes physical form and forces people to do bad things.

I've now stooped so low to the point of ranting. I almost feel like it's not even worthy of discussing these topics with people like this. You all just make me sick.

Toasty--- (#1.9) It is evident that you equate being "Illegal" with being "Mexican"; however, I do not. You derailed the topic by YOUR mention of "Mexicans" and "space invaders". I was not talking about space invaders or Mexicans. I am talking about ILLEGAL FOREIGN NATIONALS from whichever countries of national origin (there are many Mexican ILLEGALS here, but there are also many ILLEGAL Irish as well as others from many nationalities. How interesting that when someone mentions ILLEGALS YOU AUTOMATICALLY think = "Mexicans"! Incredible!

Every country has a duty to protect its citizens from ILLEGAL FOREIGN NATIONALS-- including the United States and France!

Angelica, do a bit of research - the fact is that there have been more deportations during Obama's unfinished term than during the 8 years of Bush's presidency. And those targeted for deportation have been the criminal element. Which, if you can't get rid of all illegals and need to focus your resources on certain categories, is certainly preferable.

Erieite-- France (as does the U.S.) has a huge problem with ILLEGAL immigration. Even if the perpetrator is not an ILLEGAL, the ILLEGAL immigration problem in France engenders this sort of radicalism. That's a FACT. The only "intolerance" that I have is with such lawbreaking and the false arguments made by the supporters of immigration lawbreaking (like you, par example)! And by the way, it is NO manifestation tolerance to support the subversion of U.S. immigration laws--- it just means Eriete, that you are preferring to reward the immigration lawbreakers to the detriment and harm of both AMERICAN CITIZENS and LEGAL immigrants. I am a life-long civil libertarian--- so your cheap claims of "intolerance" don't work with me!

Homesick yank--- I don't need to do any research. Obama did deport ILLEGALS then he began bowing to the immigration lawbreakers and their supporters rather than American citizens and LEGAL immigrants. In 2011, he pledged de facto amnesty to immigration lawbreakers (even those already identified as being here ILLGALLY). Then, he commenced suing states that passed the equivalent of EXISTING federal law. That was a "deal breaker". In the last quarter of 2011, deportations declined under Obama's de facto amnesty policies (a/k/a a cirumvention of Congressional acts to which he is duty-bound to comply). See the Syracuse University TRAC stats:

21 Feb 2012) The number of deportation proceedings initiated during October
to December 2011 by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the nation's 50-plus Immigration Courts fell sharply to only 39,331 -- down 33 percent from 58,639 filings recorded the previous quarter. Filings are typically lower at this time of year, but even adjusting for this seasonal drop off and for late reporting, there appear to have been over 10,000 fewer deportation filings than would have been expected last quarter. Even with fewer filings there is little evidence that these cases are being better targeted toward serious criminals.

What this means Homesick yank--- is that Obama is now diverting precious resources to the subversion of U.S. immigration laws (e.g., suing states that have passed the equivalent of existing federal law) rather than usuing those resources to protect American citizens and LEGAL immigrants!

BONSOIR!

American citizens kill american citizens by the thousands every year. It's not done by illegal immigrants. Immigrants come here for a better life. They aren't murderers.

Barlow;

I hate to break it to you but, a significant number of illegal aliens, not immigrates as immigrates implies adherence with our immigration laws, cross into the States from our other open border, you know? the one with Canada? While all have had their eyes fixed south, large numbers of other than Mexicans have skipped across the other border. The numbers are far higher than 5 or 6 from Ireland or Africa. As a matter of fact we took in 663,000 from Africa last year on visa's. the number of illegal aliens from other than Mexico is far higher than you seem to realize.

It seems no one in the freaking world views our laws as valid. But show up to any of these other countries without proper papers or permission and see how fast they toss you out or throw your ass in jail.

Angelica, Sarkozy has entertained this rhetoric about immigration because he is aware that Marine Le Pen has a core following. This comment is hilarious to me considering his parents are hungarian immigrants...I digress. Have you been to France Angelica? There are many muslims in France. France is no country for old white men. France is a melting pot of cultures and people from Rabat to Abidjan to Ho Chi Minh City. The point is, not all muslim in France are illegal. In fact, France allows it cops on the street to ask you for your papers and will promptly have you deported if you cannot prove that you are there legally. Also, many muslims there are citizens, legal residents, you name it. Sarkozy's statement said nothing about clandestine (illegal) immigration, but rather reducing the number of immigrants allowed.

Oh and to comment on the story, it is a tragedy. I hope they have this sicko in custody and throw the book at him.

Angelica does have a point. Our borders are porous, both north and south. How many undetected Islamic terrorists have entered the country illegally? I remember back in 2001 that many Hispanic citizens were frequently profiled at airports as Arabs because of their dark hair and eyes. I know a few people that happened to, and they were born in the US.

Obama has deported a record number of illegals, true, but even he hasn't done enough to secure our borders, although he's done a lot better than any of his recent predecessors. His policy is to concentrate mainly on illegals who have committed violent crimes, but a terrorist who entered illegally could wait for years and commit no crimes at all, but still be just as dangerous. It would be far better to slow the ingress in the first place, than to wait until something tragic happens. And we would be much better off if our military were deployed here protecting OUR borders, than dying in a now-pointless conflict in Afghanistan.

I find that most people screaming about illegal immigration are doing so behind a fascist smokescreen. They have chosen their scapegoat, illegal immigrants and are looking to blame all our problems on them. Fifty years ago it was communists, all our problems were due to communist influence. Of course all the racial conflict in America in the 1960's was due to "Negroes being influenced by communists." More than once J. Edgar Hoover accused Martin Luther King of being a communist. Today they hide their racism and hatred behind fear of Muslims and Mexicans.

Angelica assures us she is an equal opportunity hater. She fears illegal Irish immigrants as well. Well that's refreshing. Beware movements that focus on "outsiders and illegal immigrants" this is a common tactic of fascists. Beware those same movements focusing on religious labels, they know the emotional rip tide engendered by religious hatred.

As it has for a hundred years our country is awash in a new struggle between fascism and liberalism. German fascists of the 1930's called themselves National Socialists even though they didn't have a socialist bone in their body. American fascists of the 21st century, galvanized by the election of a man of color to the American presidency call themselves the Teaparty hoping to drape their actions in hyper patriotism. In both cases they pretend to be wholly interested in the national economy but their ultimate goal is to rule a nation through fear and intimidation. This is what Angelica is really talking about. She's afraid, afraid of illegal immigrants and terrified by a black man as President of the United States.

I have heard, and correct me if I'm wrong-- I haven't looked into the matter explicitly--that Obama's immigration numbers are inflated because he counts undocumented migrants turned away at the border crossings as "deportations," and is the first president to ever include those denial-of-entry folks in with his deportation count.

Ah heck, I just googled it for giggles. Here's an article about it:

    http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/2011/12/obama-admin-skews-deportation-figures/

The Obama Administration drastically inflated statistics to show that it has deported a record-high number of illegal immigrants with criminal records, according to federal data obtained by a nonprofit university group dedicated to researching the government.

The new documents reveal the figure is actually at an all-time low and rapidly decreasing, leaving the Obama Administration with egg on its face just weeks after bragging about removing an unprecedented number of criminal aliens. In mid-October, Obama’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director jubilantly announced that nearly 55% of the record 396,906 illegal immigrants deported in fiscal year 2011 were convicted of felonies or crimes.

The real figure is less than 15%, according to federal records obtained by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), a data research center that provides detailed information about the operation of hundreds of government agencies. The number of deported criminal aliens has been declining steadily throughout the past year, the TRAC analysis found, even though fiscal year 2010 had an already low level of 16.5%.

    Here's another:

    http://www.aim.org/guest-column/bogus-deportation-statistics-released-by-obama-say-lawmakers/

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) issued a biting statement upon reading the ICE statistics.

“The Obama administration continues to inflate its deportation numbers. The administration includes voluntary removals in its deportation statistics even though they impose no penalties on the offenders and make it easier for illegal immigrants to return to the U.S.,” said Rep. Smith.

“In other words, the Obama administration is cooking the books to make it look like they are enforcing immigration laws, when in reality they are enacting amnesty through inaction,” he stated.

Not that any of this is particularly germane to the discussion... I'm not at all surprised to learn that this POS is an Al-Qaeda affiliate... Fringe wahhabi sect f*cking lunatics...

AngelicaS's stupidity and bigotry failed to READ the article which said that the alleged killer was a French citizen.

"Citing a source close to the investigation, Le Figaro newspaper (in French) said Merah was a French citizen of Algerian descent."

Your rant about illegal immigrants and our President (who taught Constitutional Law for 12 years) has no relevance to anything other than your own stupidity and bigotry.

You need to go back to the non-American country where your ancestors came from because you seem to have brought that authoritarian tyranny with you.

And what type of "legal" process was used when your ancestors came to America?

BlueLake--- Wrong on all counts--- I am not a "hater". I was pointing out that ILLEGALS come from numerous nationalities--- but you elect to completely distort my words to make your disgusting point. The notion that our immigration laws (the most generous in the world) should be enforced does not represent "hating". It just means that we are going to reward LEGAL immigration and not ILLEGAL immigration (and the blackmarket labor scheme that accompanies it) to the detriment of American citizens and LEGAL immigrants. There is NOTHING lower than making a false claim in order to make your point. If you had anything valid to say, you wouldn't need to do this.

Additionally, and most incredibly are your false statements that I am afraid. The need to enforce our extremely generous immigration laws (we permit approx. 1 million LEGAL immigrants here every year) has nothing to do with "fear" --- another of your lies. And as to your statements regarding my feelings toward Obama --- I voted for him in '08 but will not be doing so this time because he has sold out American citizens and LEGAL immigrants in favor of pandering to the immigration lawbreakers and their insufferable advocates such as you! The fact that I cannot support him this time around saddens me because I like Obama personally and agree with him on many issues. Therefore, your statements are UTTERLY FALSE! If you don't know what you're talking about (and CLEARLY YOU DO NOT), you shouldn't try to formulate such precipitous and FALSE conclusions. Trying to insult me with your false statements certainly isn't very effective!

Jym Allyn-- Your asinine and FALSE statements notwithstanding, I DID NOT say the perpetrator wasn't a French national (re-read #1.35). There is no bigotry in pointing out that Sarkozy recently commented on the enormous problem of ILLGAL IMMIGRATION IN FRANCE and the associated problems (of radicalization and polarization of its citizens) so, in the future, read before speaking. Throwing around false claims of "bigotry" is just plain INTELLECTUALLY DISHONEST.

    AngelicaS quoted:

The number of deportation proceedings in the courts fell because more and more are being deported through administrative removal--no judge, no court, no hearing, no lawyer. My coworker's mother was informed by ICE that she was illegal in early Dec 2011 and deported two days before Christmas--she was adopted in 1945 from Germany as an infant and Immigration at the time never told her parents (now in their 90's) that citizenship wasn't automatic with the adoption, and ICE refused to allow her or her parents to file paperwork now to fix the problem--there's no amnesty for a 60 year old mistake CAUSED by Immigration themselves.

No only that, more people are self-deporting--as word slowly gets out about the draconian new laws and anti-immigrant and anti-illegal immigrant sentiment in the US gets higher, more people are quietly leaving as soon as they can.

Also, with more awareness by people in other countries about the deplorable human rights violations in our deportation camps, fewer people are willing to risk ending up in one of those. I work in a fingerprint office and we fingerprint for (among other things) immigration visas. A young lady studying medicine from Nepal was picked up for being illegal and even though she showed them all her paperwork (visas, cards, passports, school IDs) she was still processed and incarcerated as an illegal until her school administrator showed up and confirmed that she was indeed here on a student visa studying medicine from Nepal (no financial assistance, she's paying all her own tuition) She is now getting a transfer to Canada to study medicine there because she's terrified of the US now.

the ILLEGAL immigration problem in France engenders this sort of radicalism. That's a FACT.

I pretty much stop reading there. Your opinion is NOT a fact. The suspect in this case is a French citizen. It's sad really that a person of your obvious intelligence can't see your obvious racist views. What nationality are you, your family was once immigrant too. You know.

    Head priest said:

The fact is this statement has been debunked.

Here's a clip from an article at Cronkite News:

"Immigration officials announced that they deported nearly 400,000 undocumented immigrants in fiscal 2011, setting a record for a third consecutive year under the Obama administration.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said this week that the agency removed 396,906 illegal immigrants in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, of which 216,698 were convicted criminals. Most of those had been convicted of driving under the influence."

By comparison, here's how many deportations occurred during Bush's time:

    year• 2001: 71,079
    • 2002: 71,686
    • 2003: 81,626
    • 2004: 89,852
    • 2005: 87,476
    • 2006: 92,263
    • 2007: 102,024
    • 2008: 114,415

As to the fantasy that "Obama is enforcing the immigratioin laws", that is not remotely accurate.

Tell that to my coworker, whose 60+ year old mother was deported two days before Christmas because Immigration never told her adoptive parents in 1945 that citizenship wasn't automatic with her adoption.

Tell that to the parents of the 15 year old Texas girl who was mistaken for a 22 year old illegal Colombian and was deported.

Tell ME that--I spent 3 years in a deportation camp because USCIS lost my adoption paper 18 years after it was filed. My parents a Vietnam vet and his wife, passed away in a car accident before they told me I was adopted, so when ICE came to me and said 'Papers, please'and I said 'what papers?' I was declared illegal. They kept me in deportation for there years because they couldn't deport me; I was stateless (no home country, no original birth certificate because I was an abandoned infant) so there was nowhere for me to be sent. I was told I would either spend the rest of my life in deportation or I could produce the adoption paper.

Yes they ARE enforcing the immigration laws. No papers=life in deportation.

Take note of how the masses of Muslims come out to condemn murder like this and of course, 9/11. With the exception of a few Muslim groups or the stand alone Muslim, they don't condemn these horrific crimes.

So this is nothing compared to the disastrous problems France is going to have in about 15 - 20 years when the country will be a majority of Muslims.

Angelica and Toast, you probably agree on more than you'd think. Not that I want to stand in the way of a good fight....

I was just noticing, though, a few things. First off, France DOES have a problem with illegal immigrants. That does not necessarily mean it has anything to do with Islamic terrorists. It wouldn't make a lot of sense, however, that illegal immigration can have a lot to do with the problems France is having with its Muslim population. But that is not proven.

Switching topics: The operative word in illegal immigration is the word ILLEGAL. Nobody I know supports illegal immigration unless they were illegal immigrants themselves. People do have different ideas of handling it. But I'm sorry, no matter how flexible or tight any country's immigration laws are, there will always be something that is legal and something that isn't. So, yes, when it comes down to it, somebody has to enforce that law. It is intolerable that, particularly given the problems in the US, the current law isn't being enforced and your failure of the Democratic and Republican parties will not come up with a working solution.

If you don't have any enforcement of immigration, you might as well dissolve your borders, toss up nationwide law enforcement, and go back to something that looks like Afghanistan. They don't worry about immigration there. They just kill people they don't like. And look how awesome it has turned out for them. Oh, did you mean since we invaded Afghanistan? No. I mean throughout its entire history.

So, you two can go at it if you want. I don't really see that much difference in your arguements other than perception.

As someone who spent time as an'illegal' part of the problem is the definition. Ye there are people who sneaked over the border deal drugs, rape kids and shot a cop on the way. However, there is also the undocumented, which many people refuse to use because they think its a bow to political correctness.

An illegal is the person who hopped the border with deliberate intent to do so, shot a cop, dealt drug and rape babies. I saw plenty of them when I was in a TX deportation camp.

An undocumented is people like me. I was adopted internationally and never told before my parents (Vietnam vet and his wife) passed away in a car accident. ICE found out they'd lost my adoption paper 18 years after I was adopted, and although I had a legal BC, SS card, and brand new DL when I was on my way to deportation, branded as an 'illegal' without ever having done anything wrong, without even having come here illegally. Even when they discovered that since I was an abandoned infant prior to adoption, and have no original birth certificate to indicate where I was born, they could not deport me, they continued to hold me and told me I could either give them the adoption paper or spend the rest of my life in deportation. It took me three years of writing letters to various courthouses before I found it and they let me go.

When you say the current law isn't being enforced I can tell you from firsthand experience that it's not true. No papers=life in deportation.

France is made up of serious amount of Islamists.

Remember their "Arab Spring" Protests several years ago in France---causing extreme damage, and death to some French people. It is a hotbed of Terrorists. The Media never did cover these protests as being Terrorists/Protesters of the Islamic Time Bomb always waiting to go off.

Why does France protect them---hang them out to dry.

The kids were shot point blank in the head, and the suspects get to wear full masks so they cannot be identified, when arrested. That is what one calls Justice. In France, they will let these guys get a slap on the wrist, for fear there will be retailiation from other Muslims---The Government is that weak in France as well.

Perhaps if the Jews in Israel stopped killing Palestinian women and children, whose homes and land they stole, the hatred would stop. The Israelis have killed far more Arabs than Arabs killing Jews. Israelis use F16s and tanks. The innocent killed in France suffered because of the actions of Israel. The gunman said it himself. The killings are tit for tat.

The Israeli government is more radical and ruthless than the gunman. First they steal from the victims and then they murder them. Think of it, the Israelis killed more than 1400, mostly women and children, in operation "Cast Lead" alone. So who was the greater criminal? When Israel acts like they do, they create revenge seeking elements, such as the gunman. That being said, it is good that the violence has been stopped, at least for now.

    @ nicodemus:

    You say,

"While all have had their eyes fixed south, large numbers of other than Mexicans have skipped across the other border. The numbers are far higher than 5 or 6 from Ireland or Africa. As a matter of fact we took in 663,000 from Africa last year on visa's. the number of illegal aliens from other than Mexico is far higher than you seem to realize".

Anybody who is allowed in the US on a visa, is here LEGALLY. (so you can't get away with including them on your list of "illegals").

How many times have you seen documented cases of large numbers of illegals, coming over Canada's border? Coming in with false documents is one thing(it can and has happened). Avoiding checkpoints while jumping the fence, is another. It doesn't happen very often.

why would someone pick the more difficult border to cross(Canada), when they can get in much more easily(thru Mexico)?

As for "AngelaS", it's highly probable "she" is really Rush Limbaugh(or one of his followers who believes Rush's BS rhetoric).

"Angela", is only spouting opnion(mixed with BS), and is factually challenged.

Obama is doing a better job than the last WH Admin. did, and you can't stand it.

As for Obama's deportation of more than Bush-- very likely you're right, but the problem that I have is his recent pledge and other steps to prevent enforcemnt of our immigration laws (see my post #1.17). Also, I don't think it's a situation of being "damned if you do, damned if you don't--- Obama's singular duty is to protect American citizens and to ensure that American laws are enforced. His recent pledge to grant defacto amnesty and his efforts to sue states that merely seek to enforce the equivalent of existing federal law is what I have a problem with. Let me assure you, I was one of Obama's BIGGEST supporters, but I cannot stand how he is pandering to the pro-ILLEGAL immigration lobby (e.g., La Raza, etc.)!

Hey American Lobo--- I voted for Obama in '08--- I was one of his BIGGEST SUPPORTERS. Conversely, I hated GW. So, pound sand on all of your COMPLETELY FALSE, LOW-BROW ASSUMPTIONS. Your warped sense of Democratic vs. Republican reflects the small sphere within which your available neurons operate.

The fact is that most Democratic voters want enforcement of our immigration laws too. Example--- In Maryland, when the Democratic leadership passed the so-called "Maryland Dream Act", the citizens of Maryland (a true blue state) signed double the petitions necessary to prevent that legislation from becoming law on July 1st. 30% of the petition signatories were registered Democrats and there were many African Americans. Most Americans across the political spectrum DEMAND enfrocement of our immigration laws (the most generous in the world). We understand the devastating effect on job opportunities and wage depression that accompanies the blackmarket labor scheme that you endorse. We do not want our government to subvert its own laws, which causes the blackmarket labor scheme to be able to operate unimpeded-- WHICH IS WHAT YOU EVIDENTLY WANT. We want fair, living wages and for American jobs to go to U.S. citizens and LEGAL immigrants!!! Step outside your cage and realize that the current Democratic leadership's talking points are not embraced by MANY Democrats (and that certainly is not to say that the Republican talking points are either--- depends on the topic).

And if there were only legal immigrants in France, this wouldn't have happened? Everyone would hug each other and smile if only everyone were here legally? There would be no racism? That's a pretty simplistic view of human nature, and one utterly unsupported by historical events.

There is 'illegal' and there is 'undocumented'. True 'illegals' are the ones who do it deliberately with the intent to defraud and commit crimes.

The undocumented are people like me who are only missing a piece of paper (and not by choice, you are absolutely right about that) are being swept up and the laws by and large tend not to differentiate. President Obama's recent initiative to focus on deportations of criminal illegals and allow the undocumenteds more time to find the requested papers was a welcome change.

The majority of people in the US don't understand the difference between 'undocumented' and 'illegal, they think we're all the same, and we aren't. There's no 'one size fits all' solution to the immigration problem.

Once you're declared 'illegal' its up to YOU to prove you aren't. Even if you're behind bars you're still expected to prove it. It took me three years behind bars writing to every courthouse i three states before I found the adoption record--Dad was in the military and we moved around a lot.

In my case, even though the fact that I had a legal birth certificate with my adoptive parents names on it meant that they HAD to have an adoption record (have to have one before getting the BC,so if you have a BC it's considered proof that the adoption happened; and also USCIS had copies the application for adoption that my parents filled out six months before I arrived in the States. In order for my parents to 'rescue' me from the international orphanage I was in as a stateless infant (baby with no documentation--I don't even know exactly how old I am) they had to fill out and submit an application for adoption and pay all the fees up front.

So they had the application; they have a receipt for the $10k my parents paid (that was a LOT of money back then) and they have a legal birth certificate that was proof that the judge who issued the BC saw the adoption paper before he stamped the BC; I had a legal SS card and a brand new DL. And none of it made a difference, none of it was proof of citizenship.

I was a citizen. I was always a citizen. I was NEVER illegal, I have never been arrested, never done anything wrong. And yet the government took my civil rights and my human rights away because THEY lost a piece of paper.

That's whats wrong with the immigration enforcement laws that states like AL and AZ passed--since a person's DL, BC and SS number aren't proof of citizenship to ICE, an increasing number of US citizens are being caught up in these draconian 'papers, please' laws. Check the Internet--there are more and more stories every day of people being detained and deported as illegals--even our military servicemen and women are being unlawfully detained.

And that's why President Obama is suing those states to stop certain provisions of those laws. Notice that there hasn't been nearly as much backlash to UT's laws, which specify checking immigration status on those committing crimes. But if a cop in AL decides to pull you over, and the cop happens to be racist or simply doesn't like you--and he's not happy with the documentation you gave him--he can declare you illegal and have you detained, after which you have no rights.

No civil rights like no phone call, no lawyer, and no human rights like no privacy. We girls don't even have the right to ask that a female guard do the body cavity search--and you bet some of those deportation camp guards loved having us squirming around on the end of their fingers. No right to demand a meal NOT crawling with maggots--I learned in deportation that if you are VERY hungry, yes, you will eat maggots. The guards can order you to strip for a search; they can get their rocks off while watching you pee if they want to. The camp chaplain raped a couple of the girls in my camp.

He hasn't granted anyone amnesty--my coworkers mother was deported after 60+ years here because Immigration never told her adoptive parents in 1945 that citizenship was not automatic with adoption. She begged them for the opportunity to fill out the paperwork for residency--it wasn't her fault she was an orphaned infant from Germany in 1945. Her 90 year old parents begged for amnesty--it was their fault, they simply did everything immigration told them they had to do to adopt her at the time and never thought to double check what they were being told.No amnesty even though it was the government's mistake, and she's going to be eighty before she can come back to her son here in the states. And she will never see her parents again.

Did you not read that the three French soldiers who died were of "North African" descent? Which means they were Arabs/most likely Muslim.

The stupidity of the people who post on these articles can at times be mind-blowing. Some even more backwards than the terrorists themselves.

Wow Mo.. calling people stupid when you can't even get your opening statement correct

To be an Arab would mean you come from Arabia. Defined as :

    A·ra·bi·a

       [uh-rey-bee-uh]

    noun
a peninsula in SW Asia, including Saudi Arabia, Yemen Arab Republic, People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait: divided in ancient times into Arabia Deserta, Arabia Petraea, and Arabia Felix. 17,800,000; about 1,000,000 sq. mi. (2,600,000 sq. km).

North Africa is NOT even in Asia. Granted there may be Arabs IN North Africa but they would not be FROM North Africa.

Feel free to rant.. you supposedly hate it but I'm calling you on your statement that was incorrect, and only because you called others stupid over it.

IF she had been here 60+ years she should have APPLIED for the general amnesty granted in the late 80's if there was ANY question. Again enough with your stories. I wish they would ban you but I am quite sure you would just create a new name with a new email and spin your yarns again.

The argument is great but I gotta call bull@!$%# about a point I haven't seen addressed. Amanda, you talk about the teenager who was mistakenly deported. The girl gave a false identity for a person that was wanted. That was her own dumbass fault. If she wasn't willing to speak up and truly identify herself when she was arrested, she deserved what she got. She deserves no sympathy. She herself said that she kept quiet because she wanted to see what another country was like.

Angelica and Derek each had valid points to make concerning their viewpoints and I was providing facts to back up my own viewpoint.

IF she had been here 60+ years she should have APPLIED for the general amnesty granted in the late 80's if there was ANY question.

There wasn't a question. Her parents asked Immigration in 1945 if that was all they had to do, Immigration said yes, go ahead, you're done, you never have to deal with us again, have a happy life. They went on their merry way and she lived here, worked here, got married here and had a son here over 60+ years. She has a legal SScard, C and DL. Passed eVerify at work and everyone automatically assumes if you pass eVerify you're a citizen. Whoops the system failed.

I wish they would ban you but I am quite sure you would just create a new name with a new email and spin your yarns again.

Look at it this way. There are people posting on here who are from countries not the US--I saw Dutch and French on here somewhere. Once they read my story, they'll look up America's record of human rights violations in the deportation camps in the international community. And they'll be so disgusted about hearing about state-sanctioned rape, physical abuse, death threats, sleep and food deprivation, unsanitary conditions, that they'll avoid coming to the US and warn everyone they know about coming here.

While you call them 'yarns', have you EVER tried a Google Search on 'Ritmo' to see if what I said was true? Before you cl my stories yarns try doing some research to see if you can back up your own claims that my story is false.

There should be more stories out there about what the deportation camps are like. If people know that there's a chance they'll end up raped and starved and abused in an American deportation camp maybe THEY WON'T COME. When personal story backs up documented fact, they'll be afraid to come. I'm actually trying to deter any potential illegal immigrants--and warning parents who may be looking at international adoptions to look closer to home to avoid possible complications later, and also providing a warning for anyone adopted that they should make sure all their paperwork is unquestionable.

And I have never been suspended or banned. I've never violated any part of the code of honor that they use here on Newsvine. I've talked about the issues and had civil discourse even with those whose viewpoints with which I disagreed. I have never attacked anyone personally, nor called them a liar, directly or indirectly. My English is better than most others' posts on here; I use no vulgar words, no back alley slang, I strive to be reasonable, non-confrontational and intelligent, which is more than I can say for many others on here who have been suspended or banned.

Why people are allowed to tell lies galore like tea partiers, republicans and readers give so much praise to an obvious racist like that Tokyo Rose of the KKK, AngelicaS is beyond belief. But, I also believe what a recent study said about these kind of people, like AngelicaS, and the conclusion was: The more racist the person is, the more the idiot is. I know that the truth and you don't mix, but let me tell the true statistics about immigration and Obama. According to the embdded media, Obama in a short three years have deported more Hispanics, including U.S. citizens than your retard pervert from Texas and boy, oh boy, if we are talking about racism, you should move to Texas, where thanks to the state with most retard governors, have taken racism to an art form. Actually, stupid Angelica S, or is it supposed to be she devil S, Obama has broken a record in deportations and I hope you know what breaking a record means, otherwise, it would be like talking Greek to "special needs person." Of course, Hispanics, specially Mexicans, are stupid also for saving his ass many times over and he pays them by deporting them. If that isn't masochism to the nth degree, then I don't know what the word means. At the past elections he promised immigration reform, but as with all, I repeat ALL his promises, he has kept none, ergo, Mexicans have, believe it or not, an enemy in Obama, but when caught between a rock and a hard place what are they supposed to do? I wouldn't vote for him ever. When Reid from Nevada was up the creek w/o a paddle, he promised the Dream Act and as promised it became a dream, the impossible dream, the unreachable star, and every time Obama is also up the creek, he always calls on those he has hurt the most, but at least in hurting his own kind, he is an equal opportunity offender, cause blacks are also in the same boat. At least he isn't deporting blacks back to Africa as tea partiers, republicans would love to do. That is the silver cloud on a real dark cloud. Since your racism won't let you see the light, let me quote this from ABC news: "Obama’s Record-High Deportations Draw Hispanic Scorn." How you like them apples. Next time leave, if you can, which I think you can't, your racism at the keyboard. You will tell less lies and would make, possibly, not guaranteed of course, more sense. Try it, you might like it. Don't you get tired of hating people 24/7 because the color of their skin? I feel tired just thinking about it. Get some help and pronto, you sound really out there. In other words, cuckoo, real cuckoo. You're welcome!

They also tried to say he was a neo Nazi or serial killer as well, but well you know they found him. I'm starting to see a trend. Male Muslims in their 20's seem to be statistically more likely to commit these sorts of terrorist crimes. It is called science, the statistical analysis of data. It is not racial profiling.

Great that others are posting from around the world. This particular article is about a gunman in FRANCE and has ZERO to do with ILLEGAL immigration in the USA. Perhaps you should have them look at US immigration compared to ALL other nations legal immigration COMBINED. The USA allows more LEGAL immigration than the rest of the world combined. As to treatment of illegals, I laugh every time the Mexican government complains how badly we treat those who leave from Mexico to the USA yet fail to mention Mexican policy towards illegal in their country.

            http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2010-05-25-mexico-migrants_N.htm

            http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/laplaza/2010/04/mexicos-treatment-of-immigrants-slammed.html

I SERIOUSLY hope they will discourage all ILLEGAL immigration to the USA.

I was a citizen. I was always a citizen. I was NEVER illegal, I have never been arrested, never done anything wrong. And yet the government took my civil rights and my human rights away because THEY lost a piece of paper.

Interesting choice of words there... WAS, past tense. Did you give up your citizenship? You are still trotting around that false sob story. There are very FEW documents that are PROOF of citizenship. Birth Certificate is one. THAT can be used to get others, such as a passport. A DL only requires that you be a RESIDENT in states like CA. No citizenship required. A Social Security number is now issued at birth in the USA but is based on either a BC or Naturalized Citizenship. One can also obtain a Tax ID number for a business entity. It is NOT proof of citizenship. Even US citizens entering the USA from outside its borders are required to have a passport these days. Years ago one could reenter with a BC or a DL but those are no longer valid. There is a NEW "enhanced" DL <<<(click on the link) but only select states on the Canadian border issue them currently and are only valid when entering by land from Canada.

Even France has issues with ILLEGAL immigration and is taking measures to stop them. With only about 1/5 of the US population France feels they have a problem having only 200,000 to 400,000 illegals. The USA has 13 MILLION and counting. that would be like France having about 3.2 million ILLEGALS.

France joins EU-wide trend of trying to reduce illegal immigration

So back to the story in France. It is nightfall here in the USA. I see this lowlife (anyone who kills children for any reason other than to preserve their own or another childs life is a lowlife) is still wasting time. Being that France no longer has the death penalty I guess they won't let their SWAT type folks take a shot, literally, at this guy.

France (as does the U.S.) has a huge problem with ILLEGAL immigration. And by the way, it is NO manifestation tolerance to support the subversion of U.S. immigration laws---

Angela, the ILLEGAL immigration problem is France is mainly EASTERN EUROPEANS wanting to move their illegally many to work in the sex industry. It is NOT mainly from Africa, or other Muslim areas, as you are suggesting. So you point about France's ILLEGAL immigration engendering this sour of radicalism is not only false, it is a damned lie.

"HellNo" (#1.84)--- You take the prize for the most COMPLETELY DISHONEST POST OF THE DAY (You even beat out Toasty with you banter comprised of inane lies and demonstrably false conclusions)!!!

              1. I did not say anything "racist"!!!!!!!!!! If you think I did, at least be honest enough to quote anything I've said about someone's race!!! I haven't commented about race whatsoever. So, be honorable enough to quote anything I have said here that could fairly be deemed "racist"!!!!???? YOU CAN'T--- AND THE REASON FOR THIS IS MANIFEST--- BECAUSE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. I happen to be a life-long progressive Democrat and Civil Libertarian, and I don't talk or think like that!!!

              2. Why, when I am talking about ILLEGAL immigration (ILLEGAL immigrants are comprised of all races and numerous nationalities) do YOU and Toasty revert to talking about "Mexicans" and "Hispanics"--- those are YOUR and Toasty's words---- NOT MINE!!!

              3. When I referred to ILLEGAL immigration in my initial post, I was referring to Sarkozy's statements and I made the connection to our country's failure to enforce our immigration laws and the corresponding problems that engenders.

              4. The enforcement of U.S. immigration laws (THE MOST GENEROUS LAWS IN THE WORLD--- WE PERMIT APPROX. 1 MILLION LEGAL IMMIGRANTS INTO OUR COUNTRY EACH YEAR) represents fairness and justice. By contrast, what you want ---- to reward the lawbreakers at the direct expense and to the detriment of American citizens and LEGAL IMMIGRANTS represnts the opposite--- it represents your endorsement of lawbreaking, lost job opportunities, and wage depression--- all of which are harmful to to those who play by our rules.

              5. I voted for Obama. While he did (at least his official figures indicate) deport many ILLEGALS (and I don't understand why you single out "Hispanics"--- as YOU MENTION), he has stopped doing that, and his new policies center on the subversion of U.S. immigration laws (for example--- and, you ignoramous, these aren't "my" statistics:

At this juncture, Obama is now diverting precious resources to the subversion of U.S. immigration laws (e.g., suing states that have passed the equivalent of existing federal law) rather than usuing those resources to protect American citizens and LEGAL immigrants! I understand that you support that, but MOST AMERICANS (INCLUDING '08 OBAMA VOTERS DO NOT).

              6. Honest Americans will not support leaders who support the subversion of our immigration laws and the corresponding blackmarket labor scheme that enables the lawbreaking business profiteers to profit from lawbreaking and wage depression.

              7. The notion that ANY particular ethnic group needs special treatment for members of their ethnicty to break our laws and then to be rewarded for it SHOULD BE OFFENSIVE TO ALL OF US. No group is above our laws in America, and NO ONE should be demanding special treatment to be above the rule of our laws. I undertand that people like you want your leadership to pander and grant special treatment for lawbreaking en masse--- but thankfully THE VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICANS ARE NOT OF YOUR DESPICABLE PERSUASION!

              8. IN the future, should you attempt further inflammatory accusations against anyone here, at least have a scintilla of integrity to back up your statements with an example/a quote. The fact is that you cannot do so because YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SUPPORT YOUR POST REPLETE WITH LIES.

As Professor Vernon Briggs of Cornell University so eloquently states:

Ever since the latter half of the 19th Century when the United States began to use its legal system as a means to regulate both the size and the composition of the flow of foreign-born persons into its population and labor force, policymakers have had to confront the issue of what to do about those who defy the ensuing limitations, restrictions, and exclusions. As a consequence, the subject of illegal immigration has made frequent appearances on the nation's political reform agenda.

For while the United States claims to be a "a nation of immigrants," it also boasts that it is a "nation of laws" which presumably includes the realm of immigration policy as well. As President Barack Obama eloquently stated during a "town hall meeting" in 2009 when asked about the issue of illegal immigration and immigration reform: "Laws must be binding; rules must be followed; words must mean something."

Slogans and rhetoric, however, are not policies. They are not substitutes for courses for action. Illegal immigration disproportionately and adversely affects the economic wellbeing of the most vulnerable and needy segment of nation's labor force: its low skilled workers (both those who are native-born and foreign-born). Indirectly, it corrodes the efficacy of the already weak system of employment standards the nation has for the prot ection of its most precious national resource: its labor force. Directly, it breeds cynicism by legally employable workers that their government does not care about the unfairness of the conditions that they must confront when they have to compete with illegal immigrants for jobs; it causes hardship by depressing wages and reducing employment opportunities for legally employable American workers; and, lastly, it fosters circumstances that tolerate worker exploitation of the illegal immigrants themselves in the labor market.

French prosecutor Francois Molins said Merah, a Frenchman of Algerian descent, told police he had been to Afghanistan twice and had trained in the militant stronghold of Waziristan.

I don't think he was an immigrant - and THAT may be the most disturbing part of all. Also from the article:

An earlier Reuters report that Merah escaped in 2008 from Kandahar prison, where he had been serving a three-year sentence, was retracted by the news agency. Kandahar governor's office said that account was "baseless", citing judicial records. "Security forces in Kandahar have never detained a French citizen named Mohammad Merah," the governor's spokesman, Ahmad Jawed Faisal, said.

So, basically he killed his own people - French citizens.

Mo, because when a " christian" does something despicable, Christians decry the despicable loudly. When a Muslim does something like that, the silence is deafening. My Grandma Gracie used to say, " if you allow someone to hurt another, and you do nothing, you are as guilty as the criminal".

The problem is that radical Muslims have no problem killing other Muslims; so even the most moderate Muslims are afraid to speak, knowing the radicals will kill them too.

Mo, read carefully, I did not say apologize, I said denounce! These acts happen far too frequently to be termed abnormal. If the Moslem community, the majority of which is not terroristic, wants to be seen with sympathetic eyes, then they better speak up and denounce all this hatered, killings, and destruction. Otherwise they will continue to be painted with the same brush of suspicion and contempt as the terrorists.

Even more than denouncing is necessary:

Preach against, Expose, Isolate, Uproot, Turn in, Throw out, Banish, etc.

The only reason so many radical Muslims exist across the world today is because they are supported, or at least tolerated, by the greater community of Muslims, imo.

              Adam44;

You expect this from the Islamic community? Really? Good luck with that. When these same peace loving people turned out in droves to drag the bodies of our servicemen through the streets and cheer? Seriously. Someone says something about Muhammad and they spas out and kill a few dozen people, Someone burns a old beat up Koran and they spas out, again killing a few dozen people, They are a guest in another country and because the laws differ they spas out and burn half the town to the ground because they feel picked on, Some poor girl makes some minor infraction and she's stoned to death, They have some perceived insult and they beat an 83 year old Nun to death? This is their idea of love, peace and brotherhood. The lot of them are lunatics and fanatics. Just like their pre-Islamic Persian ancestors, only the modern Islamic seem more violent than the ancient Persians. So much evolution. Their De-evolution seems on going and accelerating. they are bound by law to promote Islam, by the point of a sword if by no other means.

Well, no, I don't really expect that Muslims will do much of any of what I outlined above. In which case we in the west will have to do it for them (at least the ones living amidst us). They won't like it either. Tough.

p.s. the killer who is now surrounded in his rat hole.... The BBC says his name is... what else... "Mohammad!" Nothing but following the prophet's own example will do for the most fiercely committed Muslims.

Let's see if the French Islamic community strongly denounces this act or if they remain cowardly mum on the subject.

I hope you can read French, then, because even if they do, our media outlets won't report that. It won't serve their owners' agenda.

There are millions of muslims in the world right now who secretly believe that the assassination of Rabbi Jonathan, Gabriel age 6, little Arieh age 3 and Miriam age 8, is justified. Why? They have the same mind-set at a cold blooded killer, a mind that is poisoned by a book of blood and revenge, a mind that is beyond redemption. Don't be like them, don't think like them or you will become one of them. Stick to the conclusion that the murder of seven innocent souls is unforgivable in any way.

"He claims to be a mujahedeen and to belong to al-Qaida," Gueant told journalists in Toulouse. "He wanted revenge for the Palestinian children and he also wanted to attack the French army because of its foreign intervention."

HA! Told 'ya so!!! Typical French trying to make this about racism, pretending it was white neo-nazis instead of the obvious Muslim fanatic - what was up with that? Because 3 of his victims MAY have been muslim? He saw the uniforms and he opened fire, that's all. The fact that the soldiers may have been muslim means nothing to muslim fanatics, they kill other muslims all the time. I hope the French police plug him!

The murderer considered the French/North African soldiers to be turncoats - they joined the enemy when they decided to serve in the French military. That is why the terrorist executed them. They were not shot for being soldiers - they were shot for being North Africans who chose to become soldiers for the colonial power. Radical Muslims are violently intolerant of those who do not follow their faith, and also intolerant of those of their faith who are tolerant or cooperative.

mailman8... nice try to blame this on religion. Let's not kid our selves about why these guys turn to terrorism.

Their countries are ruled by dictators who get to power with our support (like hosni mubarak).

This guy is clearly driven by the violence from Israel on the Palestinians and French foreign policies. Not because he is intolerant of others' faiths!!

+If Muslims were intolerant to foreigners and non-Muslims then believe me you'd hear of such killings in Dubai, Qatar, etc. where the local population is outnumbered by Non-Muslim foreigners.!!!!! but you don't !!! So stop blaming religion to try and paint all Muslims with one color. Very NAZI of you... bet your ancestors were victims of nazis so you shouldn't play that game really

I remember many of the same sorts of condemnations from the PLO over the last forty years when Yasar Arafat was the head of the organization. And the next day they would blow up a bunch of people in a market, school, Masque, whatever. You do realize the PLO remains a terror group, right? And this is your authoritative source? Mohammed/Mohamad he ain't get balls, just like the prophet itself, he thinks he is very brave of shooting and killing little girls the in head after grabbing their hair. If revenge is his motive then these errorist are very good at killing children women and old people and cowards to face a real fight. So it's called "peace loving religion" huh? Sounds like it's Savage barbarian satanic cult. In civilized country the people don't act like deranged idiots when bibles or churches get burned, this can happen only in backward places where the people are controlled/brainwashed by their uneducated clerics. Remember night vision goggles, the uneducated clerics/imam said it's to see what's under their women clothing (only). Mohamed need to rot (roasted) in jail with lots of pigs.

I am very disappointed to see that this man is of Algerian origin. It brings shame to my country and I can tell you that these sorts of people are plentiful, but greatly outnumbered by the more peaceful population of Algeria. Most are disgruntled, unemployed, poor people who are easily mislead. People leave Algeria for France and when they get there, after selling all they have in their home country, find no jobs, no decent homes, and they end up living in rundown African neighborhoods where Arabs and blacks dominate. They live the lives of tramps and ignorant people and stay outside, leaning against a wall or in a cafe. Any outside influence can drastically change their behavior and probably not for the best. These people believe anything told to them and most Algerians have an anti-Semitic sentiment ever since the Algerian Jewish community chose to take French nationality rather than fight for the country's independence. Israel only makes it worse by imposing a blockade on Gaza and doing construction work near the Dome of the Rock mosque. People view that as people still hating on the muslim population of the world, and a sign that the colonialism policies have influenced the Muslims into hating all Western entities

I would just like to point out that I along with many other posters (Adam44 being one) called this days ago and were told we were anti Muslimor jumping to conclusions. The fact is the world has a problem with Islamic Extremist and everyone wants to bury their head to that problem. Yes horrible things happen everyday by people who are not Muslim, and not all Muslims are extremist, but we have to face the facts and take this problem more seriously. It could your children next time. People and Countries who use justify this kind of action need to have a strong unified response be given to them that we are serious and not going to take this anymore. Consequences are the only way you can get these actions to stop.

The PLO a spokesman for the rights of a people? Ah yes the PLO those people who in 1972 shot and killed members of the Israeli Olympic team. And the PLO those people who during the 70's shot up the Athens airport to protest things in Israel killing an American teenager from New Berlin Wisconsin changing planes there. Those peaceful spokesmen for the rights of people. Those people who cry for rights for themselves but deny rights to others all over the world by their violent acts. For generations the muslim communities have kept their silence about atrocities committed by their people then say you are discriminatory towards us because we have trouble believing the lie that they are peaceful. I don't even need to study history to know they are not peaceful I have watched their actions throughout my own life. My prayers are with the families of those killed May the Father of both of our people take these victims into His gentle hands.

Gumps did you check the link I sent you? Before you label people bigots you should educate yourself about hard-core muslims. Should people sympathize with terrorists? Here is a excerpt of the link.

In 2005, in Lebanon, a hate-filled claymation film was produced by Hezbollah. The short piece directed at children, portrayed Jews as greedy peddlers in an open market, selling on the Sabbath. The Jews were later turned into pigs and monkeys by Allah and cast into the Red Sea for their crimes.

A children's cartoon which appears on Iranian television, tells the tale of a "bloodthirsty" Israeli army officer named Ariel, who is claimed to "have no mercy, not even for children." Of course, the Palestinians are shown as purely innocent victims of murdering "Zionists." The animated adventure ends with Palestinian children fulfilling their destiny by lobbing grenades at Israeli soldiers.

Evidently, the constant indoctrination of Muslim children is working. The Middle East Media Research Institute obtained a video of a young Muslim girl (who looks to be about six years old) announcing on Saudi Arabia's Iqra TV: "We don't want peace with the Jews." The little girl who was being interviewed, was asked her opinion as to why the Israelis commit so much evil. The little darling proclaimed: "Because they are Jews, villains, dogs. You see? That's why. She went on to say: "The Jews--we will drive them out of their homes!"

We have known for many years that multitudes of Muslim parents send their children away to madrassas, where these four and five year-old children memorize the Koran and learn an incredible hatred for Jews and Christians. They are often taught that the greatest accomplishment they could ever achieve is to kill an Israeli or an American.

Mothers of suicide bombers are hailed as heroes in the Muslim world and given special status. These women even receive financial awards by groups such as Hezbollah and are frequently featured on Muslim television shows. Considering the nearly slave-like status of women in the radical Muslim world, the only way many Muslim men would ever honor a woman is if she allows her son to blow himself to bits for Allah.

Dumps I know there are many muslims who are outraged by the shootings in France but there are also many muslims who think it's justified so perhaps you are the one that is being ignorant. If you are a muslim I'm sure it offends you to hear what people say about your faith but you should also respect how people feel about a horrible situation and stop being so self-centered.

Ummm...it would appear that many of the comments here are filled with hatred that are stated...from Christians. You know you could potentially learn to someday think for yourself and not listen to the propaganda media. A lost art today...people who can think critically and for themselves. Many here obviously are not one of them. Many liberal thinking brainwashed individuals struggling with an individual creative thought process or an original thought...

I'm surprised that they went in with police and not Special Forces. I realize that they have some elite police but dealing with this guy or guys is a job for full military Special Forces if there ever was one. I hope the police are not too severely injured.

Adam, I'm surprised as well. they have it all, RAID, GIGN, Gendarmerie, Secret Services, SF, Military, etc... I am even more surprised they let that situation occur while they had the suspect under investigation, which should have been placing him under surveillance. I think the police force or the investigative force failed to keep a good eye on that suspect.

I don't think they had time to surveil but they should have blown the crap out of the entryway and everything beyond it so that only the perp(s) were killed or wounded. My guess is that maybe they couldn't do that because there were innocent people living too closely nearby.

It's sucks that stray bullets did not take out 40 or 50 of Mohammed Merahs Islamic extremist buddies. It seems anymore when one of them die, 30 non Islamic people die.

The tide needs to turn the other way or they will conquer us all. Deadly Jihad needs to have an equal, or greater answer.

Every country should get together and blow that region to hell. To hell with world opinion. To hell with political correctness. Tell Pakistan if they don't like it, we will simply enlarge the territory to include them. I'm tired of diplomatic bs similar to Neville Chamberlain's crap before world war II. There are only two ways to stop religious fanatics. One is to make it extremely painful and apparent that their countries and religion will be totally destroyed. Two is to make sure every one of them is killed so as not to spread like a cancer again. It is up to the Muslims who do not embrace this fanatic behavior to turn against and eliminate this threat from within. If you don't, you condone it and will suffer the same fate.

The USA is a warmonger nation. Always bombing and harrassing the worldpopulation. Why shouldnt the USA be wiped of the map? USA poses a nuclear threat to everyone. The Christian extremists like the Southern States should not have access to the red button. Why not bomb the South again? O. The South kept Afro-American from attending school in Little Rock, Arkansas. Why not bomb the hell out of the KKK? Eradicate the world from that kind of people.

O wait. I have standards. No. Everyone his or her own. Let the christian rightwing live, as I want to live: free. Let the USA survive, as I want my country to survive. Let the children of all walks of life, gender, religion, color of the skin be a part of this world, as that enriches us all.

Destruction and hate and fear is for the weaklings.

you can make it easier on the average moderate Muslims to turn against them if you:

                      a) stop invading their nations

                      b) stop putting their dictators and supporting their dictators (see hosni mubarak) who suppress their freedom

                      c) stop killing their civilians in millions

but with all of these happening, you can not expect to violence not beget violence. Why didn't this not happen before 1979 ... why only when start intervening in other nations foreign policies in that region (and all one sided for Israel) ???

@Paul: The South should not be bombed. Nothing should be bombed anyway. My rant was more against the in my eyes unbelievable ease that within one breath by Rich, an entire region of countries including their inhabitants should be eradicated. And still more unbelievable that eradication idea from Rich dwarfing the Holocaust is not collapsed, but my retort is.

I had to laugh when watching the "Dispatches from the Bubble" segment by Bill Maher in Real Time. I did not think it true, but helas. It sadly is.

How can Rich get away with a deathwish multiple times the Holocaust? I sincerely hope the kind of people that Rich represent does not ever get close to access a WMD. They will use it for sure.

Michael they were killing Americans long before 9/11 only those Americans were tourists in Europe changing planes. I have watched the violent acts of muslim extremists for 40 years. I have watched as young people in European countries not even Jewish have died at their hands. And for some reason all of these young people who died were targeted for the unacceptable action of Israel existing even though most weren't Israeli and most weren't even Jewish. You are probably to young to remember the airplanes hijacked in the 70's and 80's and Pan Am 103. I'm not. Never once in the forty years of terroistic violence by muslims have I heard the majority of muslims decry the actions of these terrorist and the only apology that ever came was from the Bin Laden family who were worried about the kids they had in American universities at the time.

In answer to JimmyPrince : There is no death penalty in France unfortunately.

Since all forces have been around his home since 3 : 00 AM French time, there are reasons that we may never know why it is taking so long. They could have neutralised him already if they really wanted to.

Also, the 3 soldiers that were killed : one of them was islamist, one was not, and the third one, no idea. So what was his reason for killing one of his "brothers" ?

But what bothers me, is the fact, that so far, I haven't heard ONE word from any muslims denouncing his act.

So Mo get off your high horse and don't tell me how I should feel.

I don't like death and war but I freaking hate killing children at school. Big brave muslim why not pick on somebody your own size. I freeking hate bombing and killing civilians in other countrie because you hate the country next to you. That would be like the US bombing Poland because we were mad at Mexico. Mo don't blame soldiers for the fact that YOU have put them there. Mo don't blame soldiers because the limited number of soldiers are recycled through the mill because you didn't volunteer.

I was thinking the same. I wonder how many of the people responding on this board have even been to France in the last decade or ever. Funny because when I studied there, my host family was from Syria and they were totally assimilated. I didn't even guess they where immigrants until I got to poking around the place and asked, why all the interest in Syria and that's when I knew. What was also funny is how they were a bit uncomfortable saying this to me, since they assumed I was like most of the "intelligent" posters on here, a narrow-minded, muslim-hating American. It didn't matter to them that I was black, all they saw was this American. But they got to know me and realized that I didn't care that they were Muslim or where they were from. For me they were French and they were, citizens and all. The point is, its funny how we make assumptions about people based on religion or country of origin. You can't judge a whole group of people because of the actions of an ignorant minority.

That's true, forreal, but the problem comes when the extremist minority is so large that the sheer numbers involved move rational, neutral observers to the conclusion that something much more cancerous is involved with the overall population which subscribes to pretty much the same tenets and creed as that which motivates the radicals, ie. the fundamentally intolerant, often violent, and relentlessly supremacist teachings of Islam. Just keeping it real.

What moves peoples opinions also is that I will bet not once did that totally assimilated host family of yours speak out against the terrorists who proclaim to do these things in their name. So by their tacit approval they are guilty of allowing this insanity to continue and escalate over a 40 year time period. If they do not speak out what else can I assume.

i guess you could compare them to the americans who tacitly imply that the soldier in afghanistan'had done good' by killing those women and children in afghanistan then burned their bodies or like the Americans who tacitly imply that slavery in the u.s. was ok because it happened so long ago and those were different times. most muslims that i know who live in muslim countries where poverty is rampant hate al-qaeda and how they "recruit" vulnerable young boys to do these suicide missions or kidnap a man and strap a bomb to him and threaten to kill his family if he doesn't go through with it. it happens more often than you think and personally no i didn't expect my muslim host family to apologize to me for sept. 11 than a do a white person here in the u.s. to apologize to me for slavery.

Thank you for leaving Adolph Hitler out of your list, Lou. He was ardently and self-admittedly a christian, and it was responsible of you to acknowledge that. It gets so annoying having to correct people on this.

Nice try Toasty. Hitler worshiped the national identity of Germany and was quoted as both a Christian and an atheist.

                          These are some of his quotes;

'National Socialism and religion cannot exist together'

'Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature'

'Christianity is an invention of sick brains'

'The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity's illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew'

Hitler used Christianity to get into power but his real feelings came out later, much like another cult of personality icon these days. He wasn't exactly an atheist either though.

What he did that was Christ like? He said so?

Hitler build his twisted philosophy on secular Paganism/Darwinism/Marxism. His actions had nothing to do with Christianity.

Now we have this anti American Toasty McGrath defending Hitler as a Christian. The trainer wheels on McGrath's bicycle fell off many months ago.

No wonder he doesn't want to comment on the man who killed 4 Jewish people. In relation to the 5 million Jewish people in Israel, that would be comparable to a mass murderer killing 85 black people in the U.S.A. There would be riots in the streets! But with McGrath out there, and favoring Hitler..........whats four Jewish people eh McGrath? Where is your outpouring of sympathy and anger against the killing of these children and Jewish people?

In previous statements by McGrath, he has mocked what they believe in. He has called their bible ridiculous and filled with fairy tales. He has called their religion .............what did you say exactly?

So since you believe that the Jews are all inferior people as they believe and hold dear the olde testament, their killing should not be viewed as an evil thing?

Admit it McGrath, you would rather send food to dictatorships then save lives of Jewish people. Perhaps the reason you are silent on Al Qaeda is that they want to destroy Israel and the Jewish people and state publicly where your sentiments lie, with Al Qaeda or with the lives of Jewish children, who can no longer feel pain or hunger?

Hitler did claim to be a Christian, and he frequently claimed he was doing "God's work," although his actions definitely proved otherwise. I don't think claiming to be a Christian made Hitler a Christian any more than I think it does the politicians in this country who claim to be Christians. Unfortunately, a lot of voters don't seem to grasp the difference between words and actions.

We do not have enough perspective to take retribution. We have a hard enough time managing our own selfish anger. Live in peace with all (as best you can.)

His comment addressed the shooter's motive, which is a symptom of a larger issue. If somebody in the states specifically targets a black church, he'd be called a racist or white supremacist.

Don't get all butt-hurt because someone cut to the core of what happened. The Muslim killed them because they were Jews by blood and by faith, not because they were children.

                            Hey Mo;

Why do you instantly make the association of "white Supremacist" and killing "black kids"? Are you sighting fact? If so, where's the proof? Are you simply making statements that are inflammatory? This seems far more likely. The fact is, black kids are most often killed by other blacks. See the recent weekend in Chicago where ten were killed and 39 wounded in separate drive by shootings.

I know it would be a real tough change for you, but, how about you stick to facts? Why don't you try that? I know it's a radically different idea for you, but you might find in draws far less condemnation. Then again, you might just be a troll with no life doing this for attention. In that case your just pathetic.

The attack in Iraq was covered by the media. If it didn't get as much coverage as the killing in France it's because the latter makes for a more titillating (for lack of a better word) story - the murder of a father and his two young children and another child in front of a school is far more horrific/personal to the average person than yet another shooting by an al-Qaida gunman who is trying to challenge government control (i.e., an act of civil war/uprising), even if the shooting resulted in 25 policemen dead. But sure, go ahead and blame it on the "Jewish-controlled media." Ridiculous.

For the same reason it was on the international news yesterday the people of this country and the world don't like the cold blooded murder of children in front of their school. Most of us have or have had children in schools.

I want everyone to take a look at this lefty clown (Fiachra Gibbons) from the Guardian and the tripe he spun with the intention of a smear campaign. He is calling out all people in the EU that have valid concerns about unfettered 3rd world immigration and its effects on Her. He basically said those who question it are responsible for these shootings in some way. I am looking for a contact number or email address to urge this propaganda from the left to retract his bogus assertions and do a story on why people might feel the way they do about turd world immigration and their lack of assimilation, especially in light of these events.

But alas, he is probably some p.c. coward that would never admit he was wrong and that the purpose of his story was to cast concerned citizens in a negative light.

Here is the link. These people would have you be silent. Will you?

They're using RAID, a unit of the National Police (I guess like the FBI's SWAT teams?)

The GIGN is part of the Gendarmes, which is more of a military/police unit tasked for public safety. The United States doesn't have a clear equivalent. Under normal circumstances, it might be something like the Coast Guard, which has a law enforcement/military/law enforcement nature.

One way or another they will have their guy.

                                A couple possibilities:

                                1) The bastard didn't realize that he actually shot and killed fellow Muslims in the back because all he saw from behind was the French uniform he hated. Once he learned about that in the news he was so enraged that he imimediately switched his targeting against those he hated even more than the French military: Jews! But his hasty planning was bad, so thankfully he arrived before the bulk of the schoolchildren did and was "only" able to kill three (plus the one adult). "Only" sounds callous, but in this context it could have been much, much worse had the entrance been filled wtih arriving children.

                                2) He intentionally targeted Muslims serving in the French military. "Collaborationist" Muslims in his twisted mind. And "Apostates" against Islam, which is a loathsome creature to radical Muslims. So he actively sought them out and executed them in cold blood like the cowardly jihadist he is. Then he turned to his even more hated target, Jews, to rain death and misery down on them too. What a piece of scum!

                                1) I don't think you're in any position (considering you're not involved with the case besides an article on MSN) to make up "possibilities" of what happened. Either way, it's way more plausible that he targeted French Muslims because he viewed them as traitors. Radicals hate everyone who isn't radical, remember? The Taliban kill Afghan police all the time.

It certainly didn't stop a Guardian 'newsman (lol)' from pushing his agenda. See the link in my post above this. This is EXACTLY WHY people are starting to stand up and question policy, much to the dismay of those who hate free speech and open dialog.

I don't give a crap what you think about either possibility except for the irony that you agreed with one after slamming both.

I'm not the one throwing out "possibilities" like I'm the French Police Chief, before the damn police even capture the guy.

No, you're not. In fact you're not throwing out anything but anger in every direction. Honestly, it sounds like you're just pissed off that the guy ended up being a Muslim. You were probably contenting yourself that the gunman was a Neo-Nazi just like the mainstream media was telling you, and then when you find out otherwise you go ballistic. Yes it was a fellow Muslim YET AGAIN!!

I can see why that would disappoint you but don't take it out on everyone else. Do some community outreach or something to persuade your radicalized co-religionists that they've got Islam ALL WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, because thousands of them every single year (millions if you include all the enabler/supporters/funders/etc), year after year, are misunderstanding Islam in the exact same murderous, deadly way.

You've got work to do MO, and it isn't as a self-appointed, self-righteous policeman of MSNBC topic threads.

Wrong. I didn't "imply" anything. I speculated about why a Muslim would target and murder fellow Muslims in southern France. On the face of it that doesn't make much sense. What's your idea about that? Oh, yeah, you don't have one. Thought so.

These guys deserve whatever is coming to them and yet you sound...desperate...to make all people of islamic descent your targets.

No I didn't and I don't. That's your idiot theorizing. I guess you're entitled to it and I'm not. Mo started in with me much earlier in this thread when I was posting pretty innocuous stuff. I'm giving him the fight he wanted.

Man, now I see where you're coming from: The "Christians are just as bad" crowd. Well Erieite, if you must know, I'm an Atheist, so you're not getting under my skin with that. It's foolish talk but it's a free country and you're entitled to your opinion. Mo seems to think that people are NOT entitled to their opinions, and that He is the arbiter of what is allowed and what is not allowed on the msnbc comments forum. Sorry, I'm not buying it.

Mo I am a parent and a grandparent and yes I have views on many subjects in my world today. I do not restrict my self to one viewpoint I do not vote with my hormones nor do I think anybody has less of a right to live than I do. I in truth see all humans as my brothers and sisters under the same Creator. This does not blind me to the truth that some humans do not see me with the right to live if I do not agree with them. I do not blame people for the acts of 50,100 or 500 or more years ago. But those that do not speak when their people commit atrocities are guilty of condoning those atrocities.

Over 25 murdered in massive attack in Iraq today with over 200 injured. Not much of a mention of this massive kill and injury.

Why is this JEWISH STORY front page on MSNBC and the Iraq kills not even mentioned?

Because Muslims killing Muslims over sectarian differences is commonplace in the Islamic world.

The shootings in France did NOT make even it to World News on MSNBC until they attacked the Jewish School. It may not be a Jewish story but it wasn't "news worthy" until the school shooting.

rofl - what are you talking about dude - rules of war? rules of WAR? one minute he's a terrorist - now he's suddenly a 'solidier' of some invisible arming fighting a war? against who? - talking about killing innocent people, I do recall ONE man (as this one mad man is) going around like a loony and killing innocent Afghani's.. including children.. isn't he part of the American Army?

rules of war, you joke - choose your enemy, terrorist or army?

Western countries do not TARGET 5 year olds.

Only Subhuman Animals do, and should be treated as such.

So that would make the US soldier who killed two year olds in Afghanistan a subhuman animal, or the Oklahoma City bombers? Well, actually, it does, but country of origin has nothing to do with it. Extremism is the real culprit, and that's not exclusively Muslim.

flikerchick, your anti Americanism shows. Any human being who kills children is subhuman. Children are the most innocent beings and cannot defend themselves. Having said that, how do you feel about 911? Did we deserve it? How about some outrage against those perpetrators. No, not all muslims, the few...the radicals. Bibles are burned and the radicals go all out killing and wreaking havoc. Did we do that on 911? Did you hear the Muslim community come out and speak against the radicals. Not so much, hey? You will always have a few people in all cultures who break down like that soldier and commit heinous crimes. No, it is not right. But when you have a culture that breeds hatred against Americans or others, well, then you have one BIG problem. See the difference?

The difference is that people who hate everyone in a group, for the actions of the few, Americans, like Muslims, show only their ignorance by doing so. Most Muslims saw the acts of 9-11 as evil done by evil men. Did you sit, grinning when you watched our weapons of war take out one target after another when we attacked Iraq. I did, but I also realised that there would be good people killed with the bad. If you saw a Muslim disrespecting the Bible, wouldn't you hate him? Of course you would. But you, like some muslims would hate everything Muslim. Oh, wait, you already do. Cheer up. Armegeddon is on the way.

                                      flbikerchick;
You forgot one American terrorist / mass murderer and his group, that never served a day in jail and is a professor in Chicago. I give you murderer emeritus, founder of the weather underground, killer of 7 cops and 13 innocent bystanders, including three kids, who remains unrepentant to this day and thinks they "should have killed more", and friend and confidant of Barrack Obama, Ladies and gentleman I give you Bill Ayers and his equally murderous wife.

Why do you folks never mention Mr. Ayers and his fine leftist terror group, the weather underground? Or the SLA, ELF, ALF, etc.,etc.,? If your going to throw home grown terrorists out there, lets throw them all out there, including the one's your leftist hero's likely were involved in or started.

FiberChik : What the American soldier did in Afganistan was an aberration. Americans of all elk were horrified and repulsed by it (read the boards right here at newsvine) and the American government has arrested the soldier and is going to try him and eventually punish him just as it has done with several other of its own servicemen who were found guilty of murdering innocents or torturing prisoners or violating their human rights.

America does not honor its war criminals. We didn't welcome this soldier like Gaddafi welcomed the lockerbie bomber.

Like you said - Extremists are not exclusive to any particular country religion or group. But America's treatment of its own errant soldiers is PRETTY DAMN EXCLUSIVE. Nobody - no other country in the world holds its soldiers accountable for their action against their enemies like America does.

If you can't see this you are just a shameless apologist for jehadi scum.

He is fighting a war against primary school children of couse. That is who he killed after all. And yes I know you will bring up Robert Bales well he is in a cell so narrow I couldn't lay across it the narrow way. I am waiting for the military trial of both Robert Bales and Major Hassan who shot up Ft Hood two years ago and killed civilians in my state. I hope to see justice, not revenge done in both. I want to see justice not revenge done in all cases of homicide no matter what the reason or who the killer was. Can all those screaming one way or the other say the same thing?
