As someone who spent time as an'illegal' part of the problem is the definition. Ye there are people who sneaked over the border deal drugs, rape kids and shot a cop on the way. How many times have you seen documented cases of large numbers of illegals, coming over Canada's border? Coming in with false documents is one thing(it can and has happened). Avoiding checkpoints while jumping the fence, is another. It doesn't happen very often.

As for Obama's deportation of more than Bush-- very likely you're right, but the problem that I have is his recent pledge and other steps to prevent enforcemnt of our immigration laws (see my post #1.17). Also, I don't think it's a situation of being "damned if you do, damned if you don't--- Obama's singular duty is to protect American citizens and to ensure that American laws are enforced. His recent pledge to grant defacto amnesty and his efforts to sue states that merely seek to enforce the equivalent of existing federal law is what I have a problem with. There is 'illegal' and there is 'undocumented'. True 'illegals' are the ones who do it deliberately with the intent to defraud and commit crimes.

In my case, even though the fact that I had a legal birth certificate with my adoptive parents names on it meant that they HAD to have an adoption record (have to have one before getting the BC,so if you have a BC it's considered proof that the adoption happened; and also USCIS had copies the application for adoption that my parents filled out six months before I arrived in the States. In order for my parents to 'rescue' me from the international orphanage I was in as a stateless infant (baby with no documentation--I don't even know exactly how old I am) they had to fill out and submit an application for adoption and pay all the fees up front.

So they had the application; they have a receipt for the $10k my parents paid (that was a LOT of money back then) and they have a legal birth certificate that was proof that the judge who issued the BC saw the adoption paper before he stamped the BC; I had a legal SS card and a brand new DL. There should be more stories out there about what the deportation camps are like. Interesting choice of words there... WAS, past tense. Did you give up your citizenship? You are still trotting around that false sob story. There are very FEW documents that are PROOF of citizenship. Birth Certificate is one. THAT can be used to get others, such as a passport. A DL only requires that you be a RESIDENT in states like CA. No citizenship required. A Social Security number is now issued at birth in the USA but is based on either a BC or Naturalized Citizenship. One can also obtain a Tax ID number for a business entity. It is NOT proof of citizenship. Even US citizens entering the USA from outside its borders are required to have a passport these days. Years ago one could reenter with a BC or a DL but those are no longer valid. There is a NEW "enhanced" DL <<<(click on the link) but only select states on the Canadian border issue them currently and are only valid when entering by land from Canada.

Even France has issues with ILLEGAL immigration and is taking measures to stop them. With only about 1/5 of the US population France feels they have a problem having only 200,000 to 400,000 illegals. The USA has 13 MILLION and counting. that would be like France having about 3.2 million ILLEGALS.

I am very disappointed to see that this man is of Algerian origin. It brings shame to my country and I can tell you that these sorts of people are plentiful, but greatly outnumbered by the more peaceful population of Algeria. Most are disgruntled, unemployed, poor people who are easily mislead. I would just like to point out that I along with many other posters (Adam44 being one) called this days ago and were told we were anti Muslimor jumping to conclusions. The fact is the world has a problem with Islamic Extremist and everyone wants to bury their head to that problem. Yes horrible things happen everyday by people who are not Muslim, and not all Muslims are extremist, but we have to face the facts and take this problem more seriously. It could your children next time. People and Countries who use justify this kind of action need to have a strong unified response be given to them that we are serious and not going to take this anymore. Consequences are the only way you can get these actions to stop.

I was thinking the same. I wonder how many of the people responding on this board have even been to France in the last decade or ever. Funny because when I studied there, my host family was from Syria and they were totally assimilated. The attack in Iraq was covered by the media. If it didn't get as much coverage as the killing in France it's because the latter makes for a more titillating (for lack of a better word) story - the murder of a father and his two young children and another child in front of a school is far more horrific/personal to the average person than yet another shooting by an al-Qaida gunman who is trying to challenge government control (i.e., an act of civil war/uprising), even if the shooting resulted in 25 policemen dead. But sure, go ahead and blame it on the "Jewish-controlled media." Ridiculous.

For the same reason it was on the international news yesterday the people of this country and the world don't like the cold blooded murder of children in front of their school. Most of us have or have had children in schools.
