Canada's Jenna Talackova poses for pictures backstage ahead of the Miss International Queen 2010 transexual beauty pageant in southeastern Thailand's city of Pattaya, Nov. 19, 2010.

The Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant after all, provided that she meet the legal requirements for being a woman in Canada.

The head of Miss Universe Canada kicked her out two weeks ago after discovering that she is transgender. The official said that Talackova had to have been born a female to participate.

At the time, a brief statement on the front page of the website for Beauties of Canada, the company that oversees the Miss Universe Canada pageant, stated that Talackova had been removed from the competition “because she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form.”

Jenna Talackova may be allowed to compete in Miss Universe Canada after all. She started hormone therapy at age 14 and underwent surgery at 19.

Talackova then tweeted that she was “disqualified for being born.”

Proving one's gender varies by province in Canada, according to the Vancouver Sun, and may require medical documents.

In 2010, when she was 19, Talackova competed in Miss International Queen, a competition for transgender and transsexual people. In an interview posted on YouTube, she said she knew she was a girl at age 4.

Speaking with a girlish lilt, the tall blonde contestant said that she started hormone therapy at age 14 and underwent a sex change surgery at 19.

GLAAD, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy group said the  Miss Universe had taken an important first step.

The group released a statement, saying, “The Miss Universe Organization should look to state non-discrimination laws and institutions including the Olympics, NCAA and The CW's America's Next Top Model, which do not discriminate against transgender women."

I'm happy for him.. I just get a little turbulent in the stomach when I look at him. Sorry, it just doesn't happen for me, but good luck anyway. Some guys are so depraved that they'll fall in love first. It's happened before and it will happen again. Good luck. This society is just blind enough to see nothing... I think that's good. Human beings should be allowed to be who they believe they are. That is Our first right! Nobody can say who you are.

So now when we are watching the miss America pageant we wont know if we are looking at a "natural" woman or a artificially created man ? You are a man if you were born a man and that should not be bargained down, altered, disputed but it should be accepted for who or what you are !!! No if,ands or buts !!!!

Oh really? @Oh really... she is not an IT, she is a SHE. Leave her alone. Post op-transsexuals have breasts and a functioning vagina.

And to the poster who insulted Jessica....Jessica didn't always get to look the way she felt she was on the inside, but you, on the other hand will always be ignorant.

I have a young friend who is transitioning to a female and she has not had an easy time. If you had to walk a mile in her shoes and deal with the prejudice, the fear, the ignorance, and the hatred, you might grow some compassion. She tells me and others that it would be easier for her if she was gay than transgender, because at least most people are more accepting of that.

They have to go a lot further than most of us to be the person on the outside that they believe they are on the inside. My friend is a very compassionate and kind person who did not choose to be born the way she was born.

It's not a vagina. It's a piece of his colon that got stitched in the gaping hole where his junk once was.

Hey Dr. Holmes -- weren't you the first mass murderer in America? I see you are still trying to murder people but now in different ways. Go back to your dungeon and stop trying to be politically correct. Remember, once a mass murderer always a mass murderer!

                    It's not a vagina.

You are correct.... But only to this extent...

It's a piece of his colon that got stitched in the gaping hole where his junk once was.

Wrong- she still has a penis, it's just inverted. The surgery slices down the penis then inverts it to form the vagina.

Post op-transsexuals have breasts and a functioning vagina.

Some undergo hormone therapy and are able to grow their own- hers are surgically implanted though, and some people don't really consider those real... But to each their own, and for all intensive purposes she does have boobs... Regarding the functional vagina though- having sex is all that it functions for, and it isn't a vagina simply an inverted penis to give an orifice.

Not being contrary, just pointing to the facts.

They were born with pitching equipment, but would prefer to catch? Or vice versa really...

It isn't strictly in men- some women choose to invert their vagina and turn it into a penis...

I've seen pictures, and those generally aren't as 'pretty' afterwards as the counterpart (inverted penis- which in all reality looks pretty good, done correctly 99% of people probably couldn't notice a difference between that and a natural born...)

I think this guy/gal if from Thailand. If so its no wonder. Often mothers push their young boys towards this kind of thinking because if they go through this sex change crap they then marry them off and the old man who marries them pays the family money. When you look at whats going on over there you see ALOT of sex tourist and what they call "lady boys". So he claims to knew he was a girl at age 4. This I doubt alot unless the parents where behind this thinking. One more example of the moral decline the human race has taken. Just because he has no penis and takes drugs dose not change the fact that he is a guy. I doubt this is even his real hair color. His birth papers say what? Will he go to the court to change his birth papers ? If so he will once more just be living a lie, a phony hiding behind the outer fake shell having for the rest of his life taking drugs to keep it looking like something nature never wanted.

I have a transgender friend who told me that even when she was a toddler, she dressed up in her mother's clothes and was walking in heels by the time she was 3. It's some sort of hard wire that we may only be beginning to understand.

Most post op transexuals are totally honest about who they used to be. There are plenty of men willing to go out with them, so they don't have to hide anything.

So basically those of you that "approve" of this disgrace being "ok" and agreeing to let this obviously very, very, very confused soul compete against "real" women are suggesting that God didn't know what He was doing in His creation of "him." And yes, it's a "him," and always will be, no matter what he had a surgeon do to his body parts. God brought this boy into the world, yes, BOY, and I doubt very seriously He said "oops! I forgot to put a slit on that one and left a wanker on him too!" God doesn't make mistakes, face it dude, penis or no penis, now ur just a dude without a set of balls!

May I suggest that ordering God around like that, telling Him what He can and cannot do, might be seen as a little bit arrogant?

In the meantime, you might look at some of His actual handiwork. He disagrees with you:

In an isolated village of the southwestern Dominican Republic, 2% of the live births were in the 1970's, guevedoces (actually male pseudohermaphrodites). These children appeared to be girls at birth, but at puberty these 'girls' sprout muscles, testes, and a penis. For the rest of their lives they are men in nearly all respects .

                                      (American Journal of Medicne (Am. J. Med. 62: 170-191, 1977): )
In some parts of the world, up to 1 in 50 people naturally change sex. It's more common than having red hair.
You, in your ignorance, appear not to be aware of this. Perhaps you should do some research into what God actually does, before telling Him he doesn't do it.

No, you'd be a very unhappy, and now transsexual, man. Male brain, female body. Just gay.

You do know that both straight and gay trans people exist? That gender identity is as much separate from sexual orientation as is handedness?

I hope your "M.D" is meant as a joke. If not, may I recommend "The Praeger Handbook of Transsexuality" for some remedial study.

Some science. I know many discount that, and hold the belief the Earth is flat and similar ideas, but here's what we've determined to be likely true - as true as the Earth being a spheroid, anyway.

Sexual Hormones and the Brain: An Essential Alliance for Sexual Identity and Sexual Orientation Garcia-Falgueras A, Swaab DF Endocr Dev. 2010;17:22-35 :

The fetal brain develops during the intrauterine period in the male direction through a direct action of testosterone on the developing nerve cells, or in the female direction through the absence of this hormone surge. In this way, our gender identity (the conviction of belonging to the male or female gender) and sexual orientation are programmed or organized into our brain structures when we are still in the womb. However, since sexual differentiation of the genitals takes place in the first two months of pregnancy and sexual differentiation of the brain starts in the second half of pregnancy, these two processes can be influenced independently, which may result in extreme cases in trans-sexuality. This also means that in the event of ambiguous sex at birth, the degree of masculinization of the genitals may not reflect the degree of masculinization of the brain. There is no indication that social environment after birth has an effect on gender identity or sexual orientation.

It's likely you're actually a decent person too, just scared and upset by a phenomenon you don't understand.

To anyone looking at this thread, please take a look at the three kinds of comments. Those expressing support on the basis of common humanity, those attempting to inform about the facts, and then the third group, hurling words around like "Freak" and "disgusting object" smug and secure in the knowledge that only they are Saved, and God is on their side.

                                              Matthew 7:21-23:
21: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23: And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

He had his 15 minutes of fame, now at least any dude he ends up hitting on will at least know he was born with a pole and and a set of nuts, probably kill his chances with any "normal" guy in his future dating life. He'll probably attract a whole lot of freaks though!

She wont win obviously. And as much as I support the freedom and equality of gay people, I dont support this. Its a beauty pageant for women. Not Trannies. They should get their own pageant, she would probably win. As much as she wants to be seen as a women, and make herself look like one, she will never actually be one. Surgery and hormones can only do so much.

But I understand why she is doing this, its a good way to get publicity for transgender people. And there isnt a pageant for her at the moment. Maybe she can use the publicity to get support and money for a pageant of their own.

Yes, just as a lot of people supported freedom and equality for Catholics, they drew the line at Blacks. "Not N1ggers".

That has nothing to do with letting men- er, former men, compete in a pageant for women.

If they didn't, every gay and every weirdo would boycott the pageant and it's sponsors. I doubt they would have allowed a gay guy on hormone therapy to compete otherwise.
