Osama bin Laden's widows, kids leave Pakistan

The wives and children of Osama bin Laden are taken to a chartered flight out of Islamabad after being deported to Saudi Arabia.

Updated 11:55 p.m. ET: The widows and children of slain al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden were deported from Pakistan early Friday, an Interior Ministry spokesman told NBC News.

Accompanied by a police escort, a mini-bus believed to be carrying them left the house where they had been detained and sped off toward the airport just after midnight, NBC's Amna Nawaz reported from Pakistan.

The government spokesman confirmed to NBC News producer Fakhar Rehman that 14 members of the family had been deported on court orders "to the country of their choice, Saudi Arabia." According to Al-Jazeera TV, the family members arrived in Saudi Arabia, apparently without incident.

A court had charged bin Laden's three widows and two daughters in early April with illegally staying in the country and sentenced them to 45 days in jail.

Abbottabad - One year after Osama bin Laden

On the anniversary of Osama bin Laden's death, there have been no signs of plotting by any terrorist groups, but officials say there is always a concern that homegrown terrorists could do something on their own. NBC's Pete Williams reports.

They spent 14 days in prison – having been in detention since early March – before deportation to their home countries, including Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Bin Laden widows sentenced to jail, deportation from Pakistan

NBC News learned that a Saudi plane had been waiting to transport the family members from Islamabad's Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

Earlier, The New York Times said court documents named two of the wives as Kharia Hussain Sabir and Siham Sharif, both citizens of Saudi Arabia. The third and the youngest is Amal Ahmad Abdul Fateh, 30, who is from Yemen. She was wounded in the American raid in which bin Laden was killed, it said.

The family was detained by Pakistani authorities following the May 2, 2011 American raid on the compound in Abbottabad that left bin Laden dead.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have issued a bulletin addressing the potential for terrorist attacks to mark the upcoming anniversary of bin Laden's death, according to a report by CBS New York on Thursday.

The bulletin warned of "renewed efforts to target western aviation" and the threat from "lone wolf" terrorists, but said there wasn’t any credible specific threats, the report said.

Meanwhile, an Afghan soldier fatally shot an American service member and a local interpreter in southern Afghanistan, officials said Thursday, the latest in a string of attacks against U.S. and other foreign forces by their Afghan partners.

In the east, three U.S. service members were killed in a bomb attack.

Yeah Bea O'Problems, that's probably what kept Bush from killing Bin Laden. He was worried about recruiting more terrorist. Instead, dubya sent a massive American army into the middle east for over a decade and Obama is once again cleaning up the mess.

And you know this how?

Do you even know what a Marxist is? Obviously not, you're just a parrot repeating GOP BS.

Bush and his policies created far more terrorist than Obama has or ever will.

I suppose you think he should has killed the entire family when he got BL?

Saudi Arabia---

OBL's wives are building little Terrorists.

Why did Saudi Arabia take them. Are they not the friends of the United States?

The UAE sticks together when there is strife---even S.A. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia---in it together.

Those Women and children are victims and should not be treated bad neither harm them in any way possible...

Bin Ladden was our target and he s gone now.. we should leave those widows and children alone...

We have people in US who committed one of the worse crimes in history... it doesnt mean we have to treat their family like them or worse!

No "Pass" for the Women/Wives of OSL. They knew what he was up to---

Some women love being married to bad men. In this case, it could be other Terrorist Fathers who believe in the plan to wipe The US/Israel off the face of the map. They have matched them up to marry this Allah Akbar sea swimmer. Some women may be daughters of his older followers.

Bad all the way around. The children will be indoctrinated as future Terrorists. Their Father was like a G-d to the Koran believers of Violence.

Marchant & CMCCrary : Let me remind you that we as Americans and under our constitutional right / laws that we set up.. we cannot allow our sleves to assume or judge or discriminate etc.. anyone because of what their father did or Mother or Brother or race or color etc.. we wouldnt be real Americans if we did!

Let s all pray for these children and our children that one day.. that will be good and helpful to society.

if prayer doesnt work... if they go the other way around...then, we do what we do best.. find them and bring them to Justice.

Again, we cannot predict what s gona happened or assume that because of your father crime, you gona commit the same crime or worse..

Allison..."Christens"? WTH? Perhaps you mean Christians. As a Christian I believe that sometimes turning the other cheek is not what needs to be done. I believe that if the situation were reversed that we Christians would be eliminated by the religion of "peace". Hopefully these women and children will live in peace and not perpetuate the hate of their husband and father.

At the end of the article it says that an Afghan soldier killed an American service member and interpreter. Where is our apology from Afghanistan for this killing? Oh, that's right, it only goes the opposite direction.

OBL was the enemy not these people. Why is this surprising? Tey said all along they were going to release them when their "sentence" was up which was when they could get someone to take them.Is Saudi A. a friend? Depends on whether they want something from us if not they are Arabs who believe I may not like another Arab but I will stand with him against the evil westerners. They are so afraid of their women who are more or less enslaved will be westernized and throw off the bondage chains Islam has thrown around their necks.

Amazing I dont seem to be seeing alot of complaining that they were deported for being Illegal Aliens in a country they were not supposed to be in. They were only there to have a safer (better) life. Isn't that what we hear everytime from those that object to us following our own immigration laws and protecting our own borders?

Jonathan, too bad you can't prosecute someone for a crime you think they might commit sometime in the future. Otherwise we'd be throwing people who make presumptions like that in jail for hate crimes.

Bin Laden Family does have a construction company of which was funded initially by the King of Saudi Arabia back in the early 70's if not earlier. Bin Laden himself was a part of that construction company in his early years, but fell out of favor with his father, and left the business, the father then bought out Bin Laden thus financing the actions of where carried out by Usama Bin Laden himself. The Saudi Govt threatened the Bin Laden Family with closing their business if they did not publicly and openly disown\disavow their son, their brother, this was in the early 80's.

LoL!! Exactly my thought. The entire Bush family is connected to oil and saudi arabia. Explains why they waged the war on Iraq and propped up the oil prices for their Saudi friends - who then funded terror from those acts - which then prompted multiple wars and profited the Texan war industry.

Too bad 3000 americans and hundreds of thousands of ordinary civilians had to lose their lives over this.

How about using the thing on top of your shoulders for something other than a hat rack. Now I don't mean to insult you or your integrity, but I hardly see you doing anything remotely considered as "research", because if you did you would have far more logical things to say. It is more like you scan the articles, and pick and choose what you want to believe.

it is the place where the funding for 9/11 and Al Queda comes from, and the philosophical basis for terrorrism, something called Whabism but heavens we wouldn't want to piss them off would we. The day their oil is worthless, when we actually have an energy policy, they will be back riding their camels. unfortunately our people are stupid and our politicians are bought and paid for. It is not Islamic terrorrists, it is Arabic terrorrists and all they understand is force and fear. When they believe that we come after them, the princes the kings, if anything happens, then it won't. Now we just take out their enemies Irag and coming soon Iran, Syria. We do their bidding when we should be laying a nuke right in the royal palace.

As sick and disturbing as that sounds, you are absolutely correct in saying this. The relatives of Usama Bin Laden were allowed and given safe and immediate passage out of the United States, due to the US Government's fear of their safety from some of the radical groups we have here in the United States when and if their names were revealed, most of whom changed their names upon establishing citizenship in this country. The family members did not have anything to do with what Usama Bin Laden did, that is a proven fact. However as a matter of fact the family members had viable businesses here in the U.S. of which employed well over 5000 people across the country, not to mention the monies of which were donated to various projects to keep this nation beautiful because of their love and fondness of this nation.

Ever since Bin Laden was killed, I've been concerned about what was going to happen to the children. Seeing someone be killed in your home has to be a very traumatic experience. I have been praying for those kids. Here is a news story about what is going to happen next in their lives: they are being deported to Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Please join me in prayer that they will find the resources they need to get over the trauma they are facing in their young lives and hold on to their ability to love others and be kind. Remember they are human beings and children first. They did not choose to be born where they were. They did not choose their parents. None of us did. It could have been me or you born in that situation. Would anyone sign a petition to provide the children with social services (counseling) if I started one? Thanks for replying.

Sorry, but no. Like you said we did not pick parents or locations when born. If you were born under a burka I don't think you would want any body putting their beliefs on you or your family. My perception of it is this, their belief is not to get the person that shot their father but the country that did. Now you have at least 1 if not all 4 young boys that have revenge on their minds as soon as they are old enough to do so. Since they were with their father their education in hatred against you, your children, and grandchildren is already in progress. Innocent as you are you are not.

Terrorism is just the latest reason for the military/industrial complex to continue their control over the American people. What is the point in having the worlds largest military if you don't have a enemy to go to war with? Follow the money, it all leads to the same place.

Im aware how our corrupt officials have been dealing with corrupt officials from SA for decades and that the BL family originates from SA.

What I'd like to do is comment on the economic story about the "Fiscal Cliff" we're heading off.

Why is it that more and more economic stories are NOT able to be commented on?

If everyone commented on the economic issues it would probably crash MSNBCs servers. So they peddle it off to Facebook.

Ha! Thanks Boon. I have a hard time believing they are worried about server stability in regards to comments (look at yahoo, for example), seeing as how most economic stories lately offer no feedback loop at all on MSNBC - not even FB. But everything else, somehow, is awash in comments of all sorts.

I just think it's a little backwards, and a little weird.

pepsiface, some of the women in the United States make some bad choices in men. We (women) can get out of the situation. They cannot.

pepsiface you should be banned. Advocating death of children is not freedom of speech. Be careful, someone may come for you.

Lucy : Put your self on their place... would you like it if any one to judge you now and think that you re going to become a bad person? simply it s not fair at all!

instead... All we can do is pray for those kids and our kids to grow up to be good and helpful to sociaty

That tell's the whole story, doesn't it?

If Cheney/Bush had followed the intel it would have led to Saudi Arabia, not Iraq, Afghanistan, or Pakistan and thousands of American service members and Iraq, Afghan, and Pakistan civilians would still be alive.

Cheney/Bush were in it for the all mighty dollar and to try and restore H.W. Bush's honor! They should be tried in an international court of law, not U.S. law!

Has anyone noticed that both of them refuse to leave the United States to speak abroad? If they didn't do anything against International Law, what are they afraid of?

Do you think any international Bodies or universities would invite Cheney or Bush to speak? That would be the day they would invite a war criminal or an idiot to speak (or two war criminals for that matter). What could they say that their actions have not already communicated? Nobody wants to hear from either of them. They are the reason that no one loves America anymore. If our government wants something they just make up a bunch of lies and then drop bombs on innocent people. What makes us even more of a joke is that we didn't get anything. We were duped into thinking the war was about oil when it was really about making Cheney and Bush rich.

Pakistan was hiding bin Laden and his WIVES and children for YEARS and that was hunky-dory. They built a custom compound for him within sight of their top military academy and then got ticked at the US for killing him. So now to save face they want nothing to do with anything associated with bin Laden---even the compound was torn down.
