Red Cross doctor found beheaded in Pakistan

Arshad Butt / AP

Pakistani security officials stand next to covered body of British Red Cross worker Khalil Rasjed Dale at the site in Quetta, Pakistan on Sunday.

QUETTA, Pakistan —The beheaded body of a kidnapped British doctor working for the International Committee of the Red Cross was found by the roadside on Sunday in the southwestern Pakistan city of Quetta, police and Red Cross officials said.

Khalil Rasjed Dale, 60, was abducted by suspected militants on Jan 5 while on his way home from work.

"The ICRC condemns in the strongest possible terms this barbaric act," ICRC Director-General Yves Daccord said in a statement. "All of us at the ICRC and at the British Red Cross share the grief and outrage of Khalil's family and friends."

British Foreign Secretary William Hague also condemned the killing.

"This was a senseless and cruel act, targeting someone whose role was to help the people of Pakistan, and causing immeasurable pain to those who knew Mr. Dale," Hague said in the statement.

A senior police officer said the Pakistan Taliban had claimed responsibility for the killing, saying a ransom had not been paid.

Police discovered Dale wrapped in plastic near a western bypass road. His name was written on the white plastic bag with black marker.

A sharp knife was used to sever his head from the body," said Safdar Hussain, the first doctor to examine the body. "He was killed about 12 hours ago."

Dale is only the third Westerner killed in such a fashion in Pakistan. The others include Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002 and Piotr Stanczak, a Polish geologist, in 2009.

The Pakistan Taliban has been fighting a bloody insurgency against the Pakistani state since its formation in 2007. It is close to al Qaida and it claimed credit for a failed car bomb attempt in New York's Times Square in May 2010.

Quetta is the capital of southwestern Baluchistan, Pakistan's biggest but poorest province, where Baluch separatist militants are fighting a protracted insurgency for more autonomy and control over the area's natural resources.

Pro-Taliban militants are also active in the province, which shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran.

Dale had worked for the ICRC and the British Red Cross in Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq before coming to Pakistan. He had been managing a health program for Baluchistan for almost a year when he was abducted, the ICRC statement said.

"We are devastated," Daccord said. "Khalil was a trusted and very experienced Red Cross staff member who significantly contributed to the humanitarian cause."

Gordon, that is true of fanatical extremist Muslims like these killers, who murdered a Red Cross doctor who had come to provide medical aid. But it does not apply to Muslims like my own two doctors, who came here from Iran and are both doing their best to keep me healthy. I had a third Muslim doctor who has since gone to Paradise...and I feel sure that he has forty virgins, to enjoy in his favorite way...by treating and curing their illnesses.

I knew this would bring out all of the idiot racists. No thought given to the invasion of Afghanistan and the subsequent killing of thousands of Afghani's and Paki's with drone aircraft. Don't any of you people know that the Taliban did nothing to us before we invaded and occupied their country? You all sat back and ate up the bush bullshyt when they morphed Al Qaeda into the Taliban and then into Saddam Hussein to justify two illegal invasions of foreign countries, all to make themselves and their owner richer.

I assume you're all reading from the same script since all of your comments sooner or later boil down to MONEY. What a bunch of unthinking sheep!

We should not hate them but we should not help them. If their god is so great and powerful why doesn't he help them. If we leave them alone they will eventually wipe each other out and it won't cost us a thing.

I’m so sick of helping countries that shake your hand when
they want something then spit on you after give it. Any country that is
fortunate enough to receive aid from the US should be welcoming us with open
arms. When something like this happens anything short of any apology in one
hand and the head of the barbaric SOB in the other should be considered grounds
for NEVER giving them anything again (except perhaps a 7mm round).

Here’s an idea: No more aid of any sort to the Middle East, North Korea, or any other
country that doesn’t have our best interest at hand. If you aren’t willing to
bring these barbaric murderers to justice then you don’t deserve our help. Your
people are starving: not our problem. Your people need medical attention: not
our problem.

I’m sure there are people in Pakistan who really benefit from our aid and could not live without it. However, when you kill one of our own (US citizen or ally) then burn our flag and praise Allah in
the streets you shouldn’t expect penicillin and potable water. Oh but I forget
this is the religion of “logic and peace.” I think it’s far time they find out
how to use their supreme “logic” to treat infections without our doctors and
medicine, how to not starve without food from our country, and how “peaceful” it
will be when their fragile governments collapse without our help. It will certainly
be hard to dance around the streets yelling “death to the infidels” when your
starving and septic.

Well, Rick, I guess since 9-11 was so long ago we've forgotten that it was Al Qaeda that attacked us. We should forget that they killed thousands of Americans for no reason, except to get attention. We should forget that Bush sent troops to Afghanistan to try and destroy these animals. Yep, this is all Bush's fault because there was no provication. NONE. Next time our country is attacked I think we should all choose to ignore it and act as if nothing ever happened. Hopefully the media doesn't even report it because if they do that might mean it happened. We should be ashamed for being such horrible people, ashamed that our country sends millions of dollars to help these people. What an evil empire we live in. Maybe it'd be better if our country was ran by the Taliban, or a group like it. We'd be so much better off. People beheaded for ransom, woman not being able to show their faces or think for themselves. What a wonderful life that would be.

LOL sheep, you are really a piece of work I bet your mother is proud. And yeah, the money is important. A doctor is killed for MONEY, and they didn't get anymore money so they murdered him, why? He was just there to help these people. Yet, you seem to think those of us whom are outraged are the bad ones, the sheep. So tell us what does that make the animals that killed Dr. Dale? Hero's?

Note how much aid money is going to these countries. Note as well how that money is spent. Obama and Biden are now saying that the Taliban are not our enemies and they want to negotiate with them. Then you get this beheading of a doctor, kidnapped and murdered by our new-best friends, the Taliban.

Then you have the other interesting story, not covered by the mainstream media, but amply covered by the foreign press, about Obama signing a waiver to once again bypass Congress and give money to Abbas and the Palestinian Authority. He instructed Hilary to tell the Congress, after the fact, that it was a done-deal. Obama is very fond of going around Congress, sort of a law unto himself, don't need no stinkin congress, and also good at doing his little deeds under cover of darkness and at the end of the week.

One has to wonder just whose side Obama is on. It doesn't seem like he is supporting the best interests of this country, unless becoming the law unto himself is in the best interests of this country. One would think not, dictators are usually in it for themselves.

Rick: I think you need a history lesson, your concept of event is rather skewed. 9-11 happened eleven years ago, so unless you are eleven years old, perhaps you should have a bit of memory of the event and why Afgahnistan was invaded. Think we should have apologised to the Taliban for harboring and training Al Quaeda, the one's responsible for those attacks? With Obama today, that is probably what would happen. We would be issuing apologies and Obama would want to negotiate with the terrorists and claim that they were provoked by events that happened hundreds of years ago and that we had too much money and needed to impoverish ourselves to appease murderers.

Rick, Congratulations on the stupidest, least fact-based and most history revisionist comment of the day.

"Don't any of you people know that the Taliban did nothing to us before we invaded and occupied their country?"

The Taliban sheltered the Al Qaeda forces, including Osama Bin Laden, for years. This was AFTER the Kenya bomb/massacre that Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for. Al Qaeda's major training base was there and was frequented by high-ranking Taliban members. The Taliban continued to shelter Bin Laden after 9-11. Those are the facts.

The only sheep I hear is YOU, bleating out the non-facts that some polit fed you. Try using at least half of your brain before you point fingers, next time.

On second thought, better not do that. It would make you a quarter-wit.

Muslims in general are pieces of $hit, even the so called moderate ones are not that far off ideologically from the extremists. If they were, the moderates would make it politically incorrect to be extremist and the ones that acted like savages would be treated like lepers and ostracized like the Nazis are in the west, but they don't, the so called moderate Muslims accept them, and then say "we are peaceful Muslims". Bull. The PC apologist crowd for Muslims with say that all religions are like that, and bring up crap from 500 years ago that the Christians did, or the Buddhists, or the Hindus did. That kind of crap is an aberration in other religions, not so with Islam, it is the norm.

It is so easy to refer to something "they" did (such as 9-11) without stopping to think that it is usually a minority of fanatics - in that case, mostly from Saudi Arabia, not Afghanistan - that actually made the decisions and carried it out. Do you honestly think that this mysterious "they," let alone the powerless women and children of Afghanistan or Iraq, personally "did" something to us for which they should be punished? No human being is an "animal" except in the sense that we all are - and all humans are products of their environment, whether brutal or privileged. This is a horrifying story, but don't blame the doctor - probably a Moslem himself - for going in harms' way to try to help fellow humans.

sandtrich, Cassandra-854239, Rick-911527, Cheryl Haque,

Being UNINFORMED is NOT a Valid excuse. ESPECIALLY since you have been told before, sandtrich, Cassandra-854239, Rick-911527, just like little children repeatedly told NOT TO PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE STOVE TOP WHEN THE BURNERS ARE ON. And do you listen, nope.

sandtrich - We invade, bomb, destroy infrastructure, killing 1000's of innocent civilians and wonder why they despise us.

Wrong we (not your uninformed arse) came to Afghanistan not once but twice to Liberate NOT invade the US Ally Afghanistan. The ONLY people that destroyed the Afghan Infrastructure were the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban fully supported by the USSR backed Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran also massacred the 20,000 to 50,000 Pro US Afghan Muhajeen that we (not your uninformed arse) Trained during Operation Cyclone. Later on the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban fully supported by the USSR backed Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran massacred any or all Collaborators to the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers at Afghanistan (almost half the Afghan Civilian population) and Pakistan.

Pro US Afghan Muhajeen = trained by us (US Military Training Teams) during Operation Cyclone to defeat the USSR 40th Army Occupation. The USSR massacring any Afghans be they Pro USSR or Pro US, did not matter; Causing the Pro US Afghans to flee to Pakistan or Northeastern Afghanistan (Mountains), the Pro USSR Afghans flee into USSR Backed Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran.

Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban = Trained and Fully Supported by the USSR Backed Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran. As a Fundamentalist Islamic Law obligation to their Fundamentalist Islamic Host proving Fundamentalist Islamic Sanctuary the almost half of the Pro USSR Afghans that fled the USSR 40th Army Occupation's Massacres of Any Afghans by fleeing into the the USSR Backed Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran even fought on the side of the USSR Backed Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran during the Iran Iraq Wars.

Osama Bin Laden and the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists of Al Quada still being formed by Osama Bin Laden at Saudi Arabia as an ANTI US, ANTI US ALLY, ANTI US ALLY Saudi Arabian Government while the USSR were invading Afghanistan, Operation Cyclone. So unlike your NON Participant arse reading Wikipedia, Firsthand knowledge as a participant that Osama Bin Laden was NOT trained by us and was Living with his Rich Relatives at Saudi Arabia.

The News Media like you LOVES to leave off the part about FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Taliban. Or the Fact that the FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Taliban are FULLY Backed by the FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Republic of Iran. And that the FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Republic of Iran has been Fully Backed by the USSR since the 1980, now Fully Backed by the Russian Federation and Chinese.

This is why after the US abandoned US Ally Afghanistan after Operation Cyclone is was very easy for the FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Taliban Fully backed by USSR Backed FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Republic of Iran to massacre the 1980s Pro US Afghan Muhajeen and almost half the population of Afghanistan, and then started to destroy ANYTHING that was "Western", "Non Islamic", "Modern" starting with the Electric Power Stations, and everything else that was built by the US during the 1950s to 1970s to make Afghanistan one of the few 20th Century Modern Nations of the Middle East as a US Ally and Little America. And when they did not have anything else to destroy the FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Taliban started massacring the Unbelievers, Taoists, Buddhists, Atheists, Homosexuals, physically impaired, etc. starting with the dynamiting of the Buddhists Great Buddhas.

FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAM = the Majority of Islamic Believers due to the Armed Force used by them to kill off the non Fundamentalist Islamic Believers. Normally known as Fundamentalist Islamic Shia, Shia Laws aka Sharia Laws, Fundamentalist Islamic Shiites. There is NO other interpretations allowed, there are NO deviations, participation is MANDATORY. Fundamentalist Islam is ALL, ALL Politics, ALL Religion, ALL Culture, ALL Ways of Life and Death, ALL Beliefs, ALL Laws, etc. that supersedes the politics, religions, cultures, beliefs, ways of life and death, laws, etc. of all other nations, Fundamentalist Islam does NOT recognize any Man made Limitations, especially national borders. By Fundamentalist Islamic Laws Everyone MUST pay Mandatory Islamic Tithes.

Muslim = Usually indicates a Fundamentalist Islamic Believer as completely Subjugated to Islam.

Non Fundamentalist Islam = the Minority, many living at Western Nations as exiles from their own Nations. The belief that Islam does NOT have to be interpreted as Fundamentalist Islam, a Nation's Laws supersede the Fundamentalist Islamic Laws, "Modern" interpretation of Islam and the Holy Koran (Quran), acceptance of "Modernization" and "Western", acceptance of concept of "Democracy", Peaceful, etc. with their Non Fundamentalist Islamic Beliefs being the Reasons that they have been Massacred for Centuries as Sunnis by the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia.

Example: The MINORITY Million Islamic Believers living at the US do NOT determine what Islam is or is NOT for the over 1.5 Billion MAJORITY Fundamentalist Islamic Believers Worldwide. With the Majority Worldwide of Fundamentalist Islamic Believers even imposing Fundamentalist Islamic Mandatory Islamic Tithes everyone Worldwide as used to support the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists Worldwide, as Trillions USDs per year.

lauriesarno - I think the drones need to stay over Pakistan. Why the heck would Pakistan want to harbor these Al-Qeida or Taliban militants?...they bring their whole country down...

Pakistanis Government is US Ally.

Pakistanis people are Fundamentalist Islamic Believers that harbor the Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada Jihadists, Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban, Fundamentalist Islamic Army of Islam (not the Pakistanis Government Military), Fundamentalist Islamic Pakistanis Taliban (PTT), Fundamentalist Islamic Osama Bin Laden, etc. as Fundamentalist Islamic Sanctuary.

You do realize that Pakistan broke off from India (Hindu) as a Fundamentalist Islamic Republic.

As far as RQs and MQs "Drones", you might want to ask a USAF STT just how accurate a MQ actually is NOT, as to why that USAF STT must be the "Boots on the Ground" like those attached and are part of my Teams. I discussed this all before and got called all kinds of names by those without any current experience on Newsvine as well as receiving another letter of reprimand for talking around (disclosing) information; eventhough these Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists have been using Low Tech or No Tech for years to defeat US and US Allies High Tech (US Public being the only one's being uninformed).

Basically, requiring RQs and MQs means MORE not less "Boots on the Ground"; except instead of minimally trained of the US Military Conventional Warfare Forces, the Strategic Assets of USAF STTs (at least a decade of training and don't just grow on trees) of the USAF Special Operations Wings.

jimsepa - mygirl1, your arguments are so disjointed it is amazing. You link the Palestinian Authority in one paragraph to the Pakastani Taliban in the next. You realize they are not the same thing, no?

Your lack of cognitive skills are disappointing jimsepa, at least mygirl1 knows that both are Fundamentalist Islamic and have been supported as such by the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran. Example: The Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists of the Hamas Foreign Fighters exported Worldwide to Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Iraq, Southern Turkey, Autonomous Kurdistanis Region, Yemen, South and Central Americas, Mexico, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Europe, etc. from Palestine and Gaza by the Hamas Warlords to receive support from the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran with the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran sending the Hamas Warlords bomb making materials, rockets, ammunition, weapons, funds, as well as positions for new Hamas Foreign Fighters to be trained by the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran's Special Forces (Quds, Qods, Ghods) at the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist's Training Camps.

We have continually told the Aid Workers YOU ARE NOT Red Cross at Islamic Nations you are Red Crescent. As the symbol of the Red Cross is believed by Islamic Believers to be the hated Crusader's Cross. We have told you thru Diplomatic Channels to paint over the Red Crosses with Red Crescents.

As the muslims say, "Insha'Allah" (if it's God's Will). The next time they have famon and ask for food because they are starving, "Insha'Allah". Dying of disease and a lack of medicine, "Insha'Allah". Dictator making you live under his heel, "Insha'Allah". India is invading your sorry ass, and our missile shield is protecting them from your now worthless missiles, "Insha'Allah". Harboring terrorists and we come kick the hell out of you and your wonderful military machine is ineffective, "Insha'Allah".

I am starting to like their little saying. Your country is so damned poor that you can't afford to pay attention, "Insha'Allah". They demand an apology from us over our Soldiers and Airman returning fire from acrossed the border, but they haven't even condemned the killing of an aid worker there to help them, never issued an apology, never paid restitution. I think we should label each and every damned bomb we drop on em "Insha'Allah". Hell for that matter, extend an invite to the Iranians to sit in Jalabad while we put on a 4th of July fireworks show, chock full of 130 Specter Gunships, Stealth fighters and bombers, a few MOABs, and a little biplane towing a banner in bright red letters..."Insha'Allah".

Either we need to stop playing with these people, or we need to stop playing with them. This have/half azz approach is a losing strategy(but great for my stock portfolio).

Get his ass out of office please voters and send his talk show loving ass over to Pakistan to "negotiate". He can take his fake ass birth certificate with him. These people who took joy in this heinout act will burn in hell, albeit I wish their fate would come sooner. I agree with Marty 3578909 - let the assiban I mean talibama help them out in a time of need.If Obama is still in office (Dear Lord please don't let him be) we will be right there helping these vermin. Did you know that Taliban in "Pashto" (their language) means "student". In English it means "murderer". Sick bunch of asswipes, student of evil is what they are. They are brutal and vicious and that means brutal and vicious to all (men, women, children - doesn't matter to them). Now what kind of human being can carry out the atrocities they have and rant and cheer and sound like chickens and other farm animals and possibly not have any kind of heart or soul? chickens and farm animals are actually too good to call them that. I'm so flippen angry about this. All Americans and allies should be. If I find anything in my wardrobe that says "made in Pakistan" it's getting trashed. I refuse to buy anything made in Pakistan. I suggest at the very least a boycott of their crap. When it hurts their finances maybe they will not so readily welcome the taliban into their country. Here are the facts, we know that the Taliban are based in Quetta, Pakistan, commanded by Mullah Muhammad Omar; the militant network run by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar; and a different group run by the guerrilla leader Jalaluddin Haqqani. Hey CIA, hey seals, take some talibans and alqueda pigs out, nobody will mind a few less sand snakes.

When it gets to the point that a country such as what is taking place there in Pakistan of killing a Dr. who is there only to help; maybe it's time to let the one's who are living there themselves take care of themselves. Ignorance is no excuse to kill anyone who is putting their life in danger just for the health of a country who has no humanity in their blood. That country; along with many of the 3rd world countries in this pathetic world is the sort of like that of a rabid dog. Or a horse who has a broken leg and cannot race anymore. They have no heart for life itself. They have no justice for their own people. If there is 1 word that depicts the ones who have done this it would be Barbarians. Let the simple minded be simple minded and let them do away with themselves. The judgment of their own fate will become their own doing from the one who will judge all in the end. God bless the Dr. and peace to his family for their recent loss of a loved one.

Just the typical cowardice of Muslim extremist. Attack an innocent doctor donating his time to give medical help to the impoverished of Packistan rather than face off with the U.S. army or any other army and be destroyed. How could anyone have such respect for such cowards. The Taliban should paint their rifles pink to represent how chicken sh1t they are to face off against a foe who fights back. The world shold claim an island and capture all these pussies and place them on their own island exiled from the civilized world. They shouldn't even be considered human. "Terry-753375

That kind of crap is an aberration in other religions, not so with Islam, it is the norm."

I find your post interesting, but stop and think about how easily your statements can be turned around...ANY religion, Christian, Hindu, etc. taken to the extreme will do and have done exactly what extremists in the Muslim religion are doing. You can shove it into the background with silly statements like "The PC apologist crowd for Muslims 'with' (SIC) say that all relgions are like that...." But that is a fact you can't get away from even with stupidity like that.

These very extremes in ALL religions are why I decided long ago that religion is a trap to keep people from thinking critically. THINKING is hard enough in today's world with instant media bombarding our brains. I'll stay with my denomination, Unitarian Universalism, which has gone a long way in helping me look at these issues from a critical stance and helps me to make up my own mind and not lean on any other person's dogma.

LOL wait, we have a dem in offices and I work 12 to 15 hours a day which makes my hourly pay about 7 bucks an hr! I'll vote republican and chance that 1 dollar hoping that gas prices go down (I'm having a hard time paying for gas), more jobs are created (can't afford higher taxes and I'd like to have a retirement). That 1% thing is honestly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Most people with a brain see right through it.

sez, you seem to forget that the spending was under control until we were attacked on 9-11. That's what started it. You also seem to forget that it was the democratic congress that said if we didn't do the first bailout (under Bush) we'd be in huge trouble. From what I understand congress, nor Bush, kept track of where that money went so most of it was wasted. You want to blame one side on this when in reality there are two sides to every story. In reality our government as a whole is the problem.

You also talk down Romney for being a draft dodger, Obama didn't even have the guts to join the military and he's commander and cheif now! What's the difference? To me, anyone who doesn't have the nuts to join the military when they are at the age to join shouldn't be commander and cheif. It's that simple. I joined, are these people that don't too good? Is their life more imporatant than mine or anyone else who's serving now? Nope, in fact I have little respect for anyone whom didn't join especially those that have an outspoken opinion on the subject. To answer your question, no I don't want a draft dodger as president but IMHO Obama is the same on this so I'll take the Mormon over the one whom belonged to an anti American church for over 20 years.

sez, maybe you should learn to read? I'll say it again, I don't know any other language or I'd try it that way ;). I DO NOT respect anyone that has not served in the military, especially those that have a strong opinion on this subject. I do NOT think anyone who never served in our military should become commander and chief. And no I DO NOT want a draft dodger as president BUT I'd rather Romney the Mormon be our president over someone that didn't have the balls to join and was a member of an anti American church for over 20 years!

BTW I believe Mitt Romneys sons are also Mormon lol where ever you got that they'd be anti American is astounding and a bit funny. You ever see those RIF commercials? ;-)

Another difference is, Romney belongs to a pro-American Church Obama belonged to an Anti American church (again for over 20 years). nobrent - @marilee, Thank Bush senior for the Free Trade bandwagon. He's the one that started the ball rolling.

Wrong, Most Favored Trade Nation Status for China so that President Clinton could get Money from the Chinese as brought up during his US Congressional Impeachment as "Chinagate". Later on President Clinton used the Chinese "Donations" to establish his money making Clinton Foundation (example: The Money (Interest) made from the Donations to the Haiti Fund, as to why the Clinton Foundation was (still is) holding on to the Millions for years.).

sez me u whacko - I agree gas prices are high, but they havent hit as high as when Bush was in office Obama still 40 cents cheaper than Bush

That computer and internet access you are using is not just for looking at Porn; anyone can google the difference between the gas prices of Bush and Obama. A buck and change for a gallon of gas of Bush is NOT the same as $4.00 a gallon of gas of Obama.

sez me u whacko - Richard, Jobs? ask speaker Boehner and the Teapublicans " Where are the jobs" that is what they ran on in 2010, that they going to create jobs .

Obstructionist Demoncrap, Harry Reid, currently sitting on Four (4) Repugnant Job Law proposals.

And everytime Obama (previously Senator, Candidate 2008) current President Obama states "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share" he chases out of the US the Rich Foreign and US Business Investors to China, India, Vietnam, etc., like he did as Presidential Candidate Obama 2008 and chased the Richest Person In the World out of the US, abandoning the US Businesses that he had previously invested Billions USDs; those Rich copying his successes fled the US also. This loss of substantial Rich Foreign and US Business Investments added to the "Credit Crisis" (no one could get loans) of the current $60 Trillion to $100 Trillion "Global Economic Crisis" consisting of the "Mortgage Crisis", "Wall Street Crisis", "Financial Crisis", "Banking Crisis", "Credit Crisis", etc..

The "Credit Crisis" was the reason for President Bush's Trouble Asset Relief Program, TARP, so that the US Businesses could get Business Loans during the "Credit Crisis"; however, for the Demoncraps the Ulterior Motive was to push this thru November December 2008 with No Public Scrutiny as "Time Sensitive" to buy the January 2009 Electoral College Votes for Candidate Obama. As it is the Rich Elitists of the Electoral College that determine the US President and US Vice President NOT your "popular" vote; as to how President Bush ended up with a second term after the US Supreme Court verified the Electoral College Votes.

sez me u whacko - Once again we have a POTUS that thinks with his head

Nope. Only when it pertains to his Popularity and Political Career. How is President Obama as Commander In Chief decreasing the numbers of repeated Deployments and Longer Deployments of the 1% of US Citizens currently Serving in the US Military while receiving below minimum wages with his Reduction In Forces (RIF) of the US Military in the next few months of: 80,000 US Military Personnel PLUS (+) 27,000 US Military Personnel Returning from the Wars PLUS (+) 10,000 US Military Personnel Returning from the Closed US Military Installations at Germany (provided Support to US Military at Afghanistan) PLUS (+) 5 More Brigades all being thrown on Unemployment.

PLUS (+) the xxx, xxx US Citizens to be thrown on Unemployment as no longer needed to provide support for the RIF'ed US Military Personnel (listed above).

PLUS a Million US Citizens also to be thrown on Unemployment due to a President Obama demanded US Military Defense Budget Cut of 10%. (President Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Penetta's statement of "A 10% Defense Budget Cut will result in a million US Civilians becoming Unemployed", SO DO NOT TELL ME THEY DO NOT KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES).

AND do NOT even give me a lame excuse, of saving money so that the US Infrastructure can be rebuilt as that PROVES that you do not even know anything about the US Army Corps of Engineers part of the US Military Defense Budget and the US Army Corps of Engineers Responsibility for Infrastructure Projects/Programs within the US.

Money save to throw at the broken failed US Education System. That produces non internationally competitive defective lack of cognitive reasoning skills products eventhough more money is spent than most Nation's Entire Budgets on the broken failed US Education System. The Broken Failed US Education System is Non Performanced Based, Liberal Politically Correct to avoid hurt feelings everyone that is present gets a prize.

Not in the entire History of the US has any one President spent more than President Obama adding to the US Deficit in three years as to what no one before has added that much combined (6 Trillion USDs, not including his not previously budgeted for 2.1 Trillion USD Health Care Reform Act aka ACA.), the total bill he has handed to the US Public 15 Trillion USDs (including his Discretionary Spending for his Libya Failure, Libya now Fundamentalist Islamic after supporting the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists 80% of the Libyan Rebels being Al Quada (AQ, AQAP, AQS, AQIM, AQY, etc.), Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, Hezbollah, etc. that overthrew US Ally under President Bush, President Gaddaffi, with the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists getting the Libyan Oil instead of US European Allies and about 20,000 Shoulder Launched SA-7 Anti Aircraft Missiles to shoot down US Commercial Aircraft after their other Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist Failures (shoe bomber, underware bomber, laser printer toner cartridge bombs, etc.), also the Release from Gaddaffi's Prisons of President Obama's Guantanamo transferred Islamic Jihadist Prisoners.

      sez me u whacko,

Obvious that you don't "think with your head". President Obama's January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts (Plural) that: extended the President Bush Patriot Act (singular); Legalized the Monitoring and Censorship of All US Communications especially the Internet; No Material Support to Terrorist Organizations (No Funds, No Humanitarian Assistance, No "Expert Advice" including Legal Representation of accused, No Medical Supplies, etc.); Preemptive Detentions of US Citizens; inclusions of the provisions of the defeated as Unconstitutional US Senate S.1959 and US House of Representatives H.R.1955 aka the George Orwell 1984 Thought Crimes Laws in that the written or verbal statement is also the crime (example: "Anyone stating a radical change to (US) Government is a Homegrown Domestic Terrorist"); "Expanded" Presidential Powers (especially pertaining to not budgeted for Discretionary Spending, example: Libya, and his Four (4) "Secret Wars" as investigated and outed by Senator Lieberman); Indefinite Detentions of US Citizens; "Classified" US Military Tribunals of US Citizens (no legal representation as Lawyers not cleared for Classified, Classified Accusers, Classified Evidence, Classified Sources of Information, etc.); etc.. Further revisions to the US Law, US Insurrection Act, and the US Military Use of Deadly Force Against Armed and Unarmed US Citizens, Seizures of Registered Firearms from US Citizens, US NORTHCOM Contigency Plans, Summary Executions of US Military Personnel (refusal to obey "Illegal Orders" and US Military Families, Relatives, Friends, etc. used as "Leverage" against US Military Personnel with their being Indefinitely Detained, Black listed, SSS Coding, etc. even after the Summary Executions of US Military Personnel as their being possible co conspirators to "Treason" of the US Military Personnel refusing to obey Unconstitutional (Illegal) Orders against US Citizens); lots of etc.,

Demoncraps are HYPOCRITES. At least we know what Repugnants are.

Historically, Demoncraps scream "Democracy", "States Rights", "Freedom of Speech", etc.. And yet, the Demoncraps as States Rights fought against the Republic of America Federalists (Republic of America Party, aka Republicans) aka Union Army to keep Slavery as wanting States not the Republic of America Government to determine a State's Rights.

Demoncraps screaming "Freedom of Speech"'; however, this only pertains to Demoncraps and no one else, example: Critism against PRESIDENT Bush was good for Demoncraps; but, as soon as News Media says "Mr." instead of President Obama the Demoncraps are jumping up and down foaming at the mouth. Same with the previous US Military critisms of President Bush as Commander In Chief; when the same is done with President Obama, Demoncraps demand UCMJ Actions of "Treason", "Insubordination", etc.

The MOST Funny is, Microsoft is Owned by self proclaimed and Registered Demoncrap Bill Gates. Microsoft Owns NBC, as Microsoft NBC aka MSNBC. NBC hosts Fox News.

That's the exact same kind of mentality that leads terrorists to commit atrocities like this! They generalize every injustice real or perceived on all Westerners than take revenge out against an innocent man. You're doing the exact same thing with your sentiment, perpetuating a cycle of ignorance and hate.

William, way to go. Promoting genocide is obviously going to stop fanatic Muslims from attacking us. /s

It is because of people like you that fanatic Muslims continue to gain traction. They can point at you and say "See this person wants to kill you and your family. He is a representative of American infidels and they must be stopped".

All of you idiots that say an eye for an eye need to stfu and let the grown ups take over. Of course we are being attacked with idiots like you around exacerbating the issue. In order for any reconciliation to occur one said has to extend an olive branch and it will not happen with generalize-rs in chiefs on both sides behaving like, well, you.

Kevin and Sandrich: Does 9/11 ring a bell? We weren't over there at that time. Bush I and America did liberate Kuait when Iraq overran. We didn't go into Iraq, didn't go after Hussien just freed our allys from his grab for their resources. THEY came over here. And there was evidence of great threat to the West from Iraq, and no cooperation with inspections or mandates. Bush and America didn't create the Taliban, Al Quaida, Bin Laden, et al. What would you prefer Bush do Kevin, try Obama's bow and hug and apologize FOR America wussy tactic

This is just horrible! A doctor, trying to help people in an impoverished nation is taken and killed in a horrific manner, and we are not supposed to be outraged? I say if they don't want westerners there to help, then ALL pull out, and take our financial aid with us too. Oh, and we expel all their dignitaries who are over here (all western nations, not just the US). Let them rot in their hatred because it is mutual.

And if the bum in the White House even hints at any lenience towards these imbeciles, he should be locked up! I for one and sick and tired of his kowtowing to third world leaders. The President of the United States does NOT bow to foreign kings. I'm not saying that they should bow to him, but we are NOT subservient to any nation in the world! It is time to take a hard stand, and stop this nonsense worldwide. To include the Somali pirates...they take another ship, we bomb their city! Soon enough these imbeciles will learn not to be marauders on the seas.

Pakistan is supposed to be our "friend". We send them HUGE amounts of money to maintain that "friendship".

Well, to my government, I don't want a friend that allows a Red Cross doctor to be butchered by radicals. I don't want a friend who gave safe harbor to BinLaden. I don't want my tax dollars to go anywhere near that country.

Yes, I know, there are innocents there who are suffering and need help. Well, sorry, they need to start looking to their government for help and work out their own problems. There are many here in our own country who could use those tax dollars and that is how I want my tax money spent.

We are there because they have nuclear missiles and a bunch of lunatics. Who knows where the missiles will land if we pull out of there; USA, Canada, Europe, Israel, India, Australia? Do you really want to take that risk? For the same reason, we cannot let Iran or N. Korea develop nuclear bombs.

Nuclear weapons have to be armed before they can detonate, we could actually destroy their entire arsenal with ABM's before they could ever use them and if the did arm them they'd only blow up in their own country or we'd shoot it down before it got too far. We should just team up with the Russians, British, and Chinese, just roll over hostile middle eastern countries, then divide it into sectors like Berlin, of course the Chinese weren't in on that, and forbid taliban and all other radical head chopping sects.

Of course that is a fantasy: all that nuclear activity would be extremely harmful to our allies in that area. just a dream.

That kind of crap is an aberration in other religions, not so with Islam, it is the norm.

...when USSR was fighting in Afghanistan the cold war was in full swing. Without US military technology given the "Afghan freedom fighters" the Russians would have succeeded in their campaign against, what we have come to know as, the Taliban/A.Q./et.al....the Soviets were then implementing the very same drastic measures many in this country call for now, but can't do....timing is everything...

soothsayer... we couldn't let the Soviets have Afganistan, which would have threatened our national security. Sometimes you have to decide which enemy is less lethal than the other. We only care about our own interests. If we have to deal with not so pure hoodlums in order to stop a bigger threat at the time, then so be it. The government we supported in Iraq might end up being our enemy in the future.

Actually, it's Pakistan who has nuclear weapons, not the Pakistan Taliban. The Pakistan Taliban are insurgents which the Pakistani government has been fighting. If any of those terrorist groups ever got their hands on nuclear weapons, they wouldn't sit on them; they would use them. Before spouting off your mouth with false information, you should know what you are talking about. Misinformation is a sure way to blame the wrong people for something.

Please stop disrespecting gorillas. Gorillas tend to be quite peaceful.

I think an earlier poster has it closer at "virus." A virus will attack and kill anything it can. It invades, strikes without warning, cause heaps of damage, and then goes into hiding when it's insidious work is done. It mutates to hide and then mutates again to damage something else. I think "virus" is a better definition. I believe it's time to inoculate against this disease.

Many condolences to the family and friends of this fine doctor.

I was reading some factual numbers the other night exactly how much money we give these country's in aid. The hundreds of billions could supply health coverage for every American. People mistakenly think Americans have the best health care well we don't by a long shot. We need national care and we need it now. Stop wasting the money and stealing it.

3 years ago, a back surgeon convinced me to have a fusion that would heal in 4 to 6 weeks. Long story short, I've have 4 more surgeries to fix what he screwed up. My health insurance from my employer expired after 6 months. COBRA last 18 months at a cost of $1223/month. It goes away next month. No insurance company will touch me. The high risk insurance pool in Texas will give me coverage for.....ready for this.....$2374/month!!! I'm on 100% disability that brings in $1504/month. Medicare will kick in next Dec.

Aid to other countries, humanitarian or otherwise, has reached the point where the aid is so constant and excessive that not only do these countries not appreciate the aid but have come to expect it.

My family gives me money to take care of them. I use a large portion of that money to aid the people down the street. I've had to borrow money against my families future to be able to continue that aid. Even though I've had to borrow more and more, and my family is emaciated, I have continued to subsidize the family down the street -- even though, not only do they not appreciate the aid, but mindlessly kill members of my family -- why? -- because they can!

Americans are emaciated! -- nuff said.

Sorry, but the amount of foreign aid the USA gives, state to state, is not hundreds of billions per year. Not even close. Depending on how you count it the amount isn't more than $30 billion, which is a lot of money and is often, I agree, misspent, but lets not wildly overstate the case and pretend that if we just stop the USA will become some kind of socialistic nirvana. It won't.

A better question about the money is whether what is given saves us more elsewhere, or advances our national interests. But it is no use to argue a wrong number in the first place. An even better question is over how much of our military spending is, in fact, foreign aid, if any of it is. But very few Americans view our military spending as possibly being foreign aid. I'm one of them, but these missions in Afghanistan and Pakistan don't seem to fit that paradigm well, mostly because we are using very little domestic resources of those nations to supply our effort.

Rich, you're mostly right but remember we used to give $ and food to N. Korea so they won't build nuclear bombs, then Bush came along and stopped all aides to N. Korea so the N. Korea got nuclear bombs now after starving millions of their folks. China did the same back in the 50s and 60s because US won't recognize them as a legit country and provide food aide. Iran is on their way to achieve the same. Pakistan already got a ton of nuclear missiles to destroy us 10 times over if the lunatic Taliban ever get a hold of those missiles. Our military is there to make sure Iran does not develop nuclear bombs and the Talibans do not get control of Pakistani nuclear missiles. I'd welcome every chance for not having to serve another tour to that hell hole but we have to keep the Taliban's hands off those nuclear missiles.

I know that since obama's health care package passed my insurance is going up dramatically with less coverage. we get paid less and less at our jobs even with more hours and we are rewarded by paying more and more money for everything - gas, food etc.

PPl, PPL, PEOPLE! This post, originally about that poor Red Cross humanitarian who was beheaded, has, as almost ANY discussion with the LEAST political overtones anymore, degenerated into a mud slinging, armed camp, TAKE NO PRISONERS mentality! Are we no better than the conscienceless dregs who perpetrated this heinous act? If we all, as a country, cannot resist the opportumity to take potshots at each OTHER, WE will soon degenerate into this sort of BIBLICAL nonsense. I say this because I wish to make a couple of points. First, the Middle East has been fighting since AT LEAST the time of Jacob and Esau. They want democracy like a fish needs a bicycle/piano/ladder, etc (pick your own metaphor). My younger daughter (WE could only afford two kids, even in 1985) is in the Army. I live in TERROR of the day she will be deployed. And she will. My youngest child deployed to fight for the MORASS of ppl the U.S. has become? Sorry folks, I'm proud of her, but I don't want to put her coffin in the ground because we all think that WE'RE the only ONE who has the right ideas. Democrat,(Bill Clinton WAS impeached, check your fairly recent history) OR Republican (Bush tried, but failed). I LOVE her. And my eldest? She's working in retail because we didn't have enough money to complete her college education, and I do not want to have to bury HER because she starves to death on the meager wages that she gets paid. Both my husband and I are professionals, and earn (ON PAPER ONLY!) what would be considered generous by many here in the U.S.. But we've never ever gotten ANY handout from our government. Yet here we all are quarrelling, and BITTERLY about POLITICS! The Marine sargeant that was fired? Freedom of speech USED to be guaranteed, the LAST time I looked at OUR Constitution! Ted Nugent? Well, me, I hate his music, but He did NOT threaten the P.O.T.U.S. in ANY way! He made a "comment", and one with which I happen to agree. Where are OUR rights as guaranteed by the Constitution that ALL of our great great great whatever grandparents believed in and died for? And I'm sending my daughter into a battle that we will NEVER win?

Second, whether Muslim or not, this DOCTOR died because he was trying to help. They can behead, burn and torture World citizens because they may not agree with the "enemy's" actions? And by what I've read from this post, WE in the good old U.S. of A. are no better than they are. We cannot even back each OTHER! This is just painful, shameful and downright embarrassing!

But heaven help us if we burn a Quran, THEIR holy book. A book mass printed, mass produced and mass packaged. It's NOT like Allah himself came down and transcribed EVERY single copy extant! If someone burned my Bible, I might think they were ignorant, or Facist, or Nazi, Neo Nazi, or just out and out BIGOTED, wrong minded or JUST PLAIN STUPID! BUT!! I wouldn't require their heads as retribution. And before any of you out there start in with the (anti) Christian rap, I',m just a person. A human, with failings. LIKE ANYONE ELSE! I am NO better (and probably a lot worse) than most of the other posters on this site. I have just read all of this and am so discouraged. I guess we will NEVER again pull together, as a country, proud of having fought for our freedoms. Listen folks, wise up.. We are on a path of self destruction, because WE can NOT unite as a country! Forget the Parties, REP AND DEM and INDIE'S) and understand that all (ALL) politicians are just that...POLITICIANS! They all are in someone else's back pocket, and all have others in THEIR back pockets! They're making money, we're getting more poor.. THEY have good insurance, while mine has gotten so inflationary that I can hardly afford to pay my premiums. Their kids get to go to college, while we all lament that we cannot afford to send OUR kids anymore. Such is a self replicating circle! Mormon or Church of Christ, Baptist or Methodist, Lutheran or Ctholic! WISE up, we are ALL comestibles to the grand Government we NOW serve, as opposed to THEM serving US!! Remember OUR Constitution, and what it cost to obtain.

And Please everyone, regardless of you party, we ALL live in this world, and this poor man was farkin BEHEADED for doing what HE thought was a service to other humans! Bless his family in their tragedy, WHOEVER you are, regardless of your own personal issues.. It might be your son, daughter, wife, brother or husband or sister. Pray they don't find THEIR head on the road ANYWHERE!!

John - How is he insane? Do you like the fact that billions of dollars in aid is sent to a country that gruesomely murders Red Cross aid workers? Do you think we should coddle a nation that allows the Taliban and other extremist groups to operate freely within their borders?

You might want to check your definition of insanity, if that's the case.

John-1779666, Sadly, I have a sinking feeling people like him WILL be running the country soon :( Hopefully I have my plane ticket out by then.

Crying Shame, it's not the country of Pakistan that beheaded the man, it's one sick twisted individual. There's a few of them part of a small group of people in Pakistan that are trying to be bad to the World and make a name for their organization. Hell, if other countries thought everyone in the USA were Christian and acted the way they do on Televangelist TV shows, we'd be screwed.

There IS no " religion of peace".
Not Islam and certainly not Christianity.

Tina-293371 "certainly not Christianity." Really? Have you read the bible? Jesus could have turned all into ashes and did not. People twisting truth's are what cause this insanity. When it is easier to kill and behead than to work hard and perservere, people with use religion as the justification. To attack any religion for what people that are less than human did is pure ignorance!

The answer is to get out of these other countries, let them fight their own battles and find their own way. When the people of these regions have had enough they will fight back. It is the greed of the politicians and to get to their oil that keeps us there.

America did not have the help of NATO, The Red Cross, or any other money or politically motivated group when we fought for our own indepence and for the independence of our brothers and sisters trapped in slavery.

I guess a few soldiers posing with dead Taliban members does not seem all that bad considering they were shot, and did not have their head severed. In addition, this doctor was innocent and there to only help these people. I say no more help, aid, food, medicine, or anything. Time to come home and let them deal with their own crap. The Pakistanis let the Taliban in and protected them from the U.S. so now they can just deal with it on their own. Bring the troops home now! Bin Ladin is dead and he was the objective. Mission accomplished! So why the hell are we still their? Obama saving that for the election? At the cost of more American soldier lives?

I say cut off support immediately and of course that means the money drain. These bastards play both sides of the fence. Typical Islamic nation. The argument for Afghanistan has been to prevent Pakistan and India from going after each other...at some point, we gotta say, get out and let these sovereign nations, no matter how brutal immoral and dictatorial their leaders are, figure it out themselves.

Just throwing it out there, and it truly doesn't matter, but Mr. Dale wasn't a doctor. He was a nurse with over 30 years of experience working in the countries with high conflict. Also, he was British and a member of the ICRC. For those blaming Obama - he wasn't an American national. It was the ICRC's responsibility to meet the demands of his kidnappers, although who knows if the outcome would have been different.
