Obama hails the future of a 'new kind of relationship' with Afghanistan

On the one-year anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden, President Obama made an unannounced visit to Afghanistan and said his goal "to defeat al-Qaida and deny it a chance to rebuild is now within our reach." NBC's Atia Abawi reports.

Wrapping up a surprise visit to Afghanistan, President Barack Obama made a televised address from the war-torn country to discuss an agreement he signed with President Hamid Karzai, which would see 23,000 U.S. troops withdrawn by the end of the summer. The agreement, he said, hails “a new kind of relationship” that would see the United States in a more supportive role.

“As our coalition agreed, by the end of 2014 the Afghans will be fully responsible for the security of their country," Obama said. But the president was clear that the U.S. would stay engaged into the future.

“The agreement we signed today sends a clear message to the Afghan people. As you stand up, you will not stand alone,” Obama said. “It establishes the basis of our cooperation over the next decade, including shared commitments to combat terrorism and strengthen democratic institutions.”

President Obama’s visit to Afghanistan was kept secret until he met with Karzai. During Tuesday's meeting, which took place around midnight, the two leaders signed a post-war agreement that provides a framework to the U.S.’s commitment to Afghanistan after the long and unpopular war comes to an end.

The agreement opens the possibility for continued training of Afghan forces and targeted operations against al-Qaida, which is present in neighboring Pakistan but has a nominal presence inside Afghanistan.

President Obama goes to Afghanistan to sign post-war agreement

At the podium at Bagram Air Field, Obama noted that 10,000 troops were withdrawn last year and that nearly half the Afghan population lives in areas where Afghan Security Forces are taking the lead.

“The Iraq War is over,” the president said. “The number of our troops in harm's way has been cut in half, and more will be coming home soon. We have a clear path to fulfill our mission in Afghanistan, while delivering justice to al-Qaida.”

On Tuesday night, President Barack Obama addressed the American people from Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan to announce an agreement he signed with President Hamid Karzai: "The goal that I set -- to defeat al-Qaida, and deny it a chance to rebuild -- is within reach." Watch the full speech here.

Still, Obama struck a cautionary note, warning of “more difficult days ahead” and acknowledged that “many Americans are tired of war.” But “we must finish the job we started in Afghanistan and end this war responsibly,” he said.

Transcript of Obama's speech from Bagram Air Base

International troops would continue to train and advise the Afghans, Obama said, and the U.S. would not build permanent bases in Afghanistan or patrol the country's cities and mountains.

The president also said the U.S. would not build permanent bases in Afghanistan or patrol the country’s cities and mountains.

The Afghan Security Forces would grow its force to 352,000 this year, Obama said, and sustain that level for three years.

“That will be the job of the Afghan people,” he said.

Obama planned to be on the ground for about seven hours in Afghanistan, where the United States has been engaged in war for more than a decade following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. More than 1,800 U.S. forces have been killed and 15,700 wounded in that time.

The trip also carries major symbolic significance for a president seeking a second term and allows him to showcase the killing a year ago of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden.

Media traveling with Obama on the 13-hour flight had to agree to keep it secret until Obama had safely finished a helicopter flight to the nation's capital, Kabul still launch lethal attacks.

Obama also addressed Pakistan, where bin Laden spent nine years hiding in a safe house in Abbottabad.

“I have made it clear to Afghanistan's neighbor - Pakistan - that it can and should be an equal partner in this process in a way that respects Pakistan's sovereignty, interests, and democratic institutions,” Obama said. “In pursuit of a durable peace, America has no designs beyond an end to al-Qaida safe-havens, and respect for Afghan sovereignty.”

No silly, Obama is making a campaign speech. He flies to Afghanistan to meet with Karzai, in person, because there are no phones or other means of communication available, and he gives a speech that is broadcast over here, no audience there BTW, and he mentions bin Laden several times. Then he flies home after spending a total of seven hours in Afghanistan.

Interesting that they didn't tell the media about the 'secret' trip, no wait, they told the media but asked them to keep it quiet until he got there and no US media reported it but a few foreign media, who apparently didn't get the memo, reported the news in advance.

Guess he wanted the 'veritas' moment, except he really needed to go to Pakistan to claim the 'killing ground' moment. Step out on Pakistani soil to enhance the impact of killing bin Laden. Afgahnistan, well, better place to set up the podium.

No, it is the kind of mission where we send them boatloads of our tax dollars while they continue to spit in out faces.

Our mission over there was to crush al-Qaeda and the Taliban. We have done neither and will not complete the mission without one of two things happening. One would be the Pakistanis starting to behave like true allies in the war on terror and start cleaning house the uproot the terrorists the pervade parts of their country. Second would be for the US to get sick of the Pakistani double dealing and go in and clean up the infestation ourselves. Of course this second option would result in our ending up in a war with the Pakistanis who would never tolerate this intrusion on their sovereignty and the first is never going to happen so long as the current Pakistani government remains in power. So what it really comes down to is that we are not going to complete the objective. At best we can continue to spend hundreds of millions a year to try and keep al-Qaeda and the Taliban from taking control of Afghanistan again since there is no way that the Afghani military or national police will ever be up to the task, they are far too infiltrated by these very enemies.

Well, someone released the information about the trip to the NY Post, a newspaper in Afghanistan, and a newspaper in China as reported in another MSNBC article. It WAS NOT SECRET since someone in this administration released the information.

It is a pipe dream to think that Al-Qaeda will be completely exterminated. Children in suburbia Afghanistan are probably being taught at this moment on how to strap on a bomb and become a martyr. Oh, don't want to forget about the "terrorist" groups in Yemen, Somalia, Iran, Pakistan, and other parts of the ME and Africa.

Yes, it is time to bring our brave men and women HOME.

As for the Taliban.....guess that issue will be resolved at the "safe passage" Peace Talks in Chicago between this administration and the Taliban. Yep, trust the Taliban as far as one would trust Iran or North Korea.

Afghanistan will fail as a country in 2015 less than a year after US troupes withdraw. There are many obvious reasons-- Karzai is a corrupt Politian and has never supported his people and/or had good support/relationship from his people. Afghanistan's chief money source is Foreign aid, and an increase in growing illegal heroin trade. It is in Karzai best political/financial interests to continue a relationship with the US to support is flamboyant life style. As soon as the going gets tough, if he is not killed the US will give him political asylum. The neighboring country of Pakistan houses, imports/exports violent militants bend on world destruction, and their government is just as corrupt as Afghanistan. The US and other are pouring countless Billions of dollars into these two countries [China is also pouring money into Pakistan's infrastructure and military] and have been doing so for many years with poor results. What you have heard from this Obama man is a whimsical lie; another creation in Obama's mind knowing he is lying to the general populous--something that he will have to come to terms with very soon once re-elected—and of course he will blame others for that has been his usual approach for everything..

As soon as our troops leave the Taliban will be back in there. Why the rush to leave? We have had troops in Germany for over 65 years, not a peep. We have troops in Korea, for 60 years without a peep. Not to mention the middle east for over 20 years, (listen) nope, not a peep. We will be back their again, because we didn't finish the job, or we will (like Vietnam) just let the enemy take control and run the place. Some times when you are in a fight for your life, tring to make friends with the person trying to kill you, is not a good idea.

We are going to be there to protect the TAPI gas pipeline, which will pipe trillions of dollars of Israeli owned gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanisatn and Pakistan to India. The pipeline is scheduled to be completed in 2014.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/12/world/asia/12pipeline.html

1,680 kilometer gas pipeline will supply 3.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day (much of
this gas will come from Israeli/Mossad-owned gas fields in Turkmenistan,
meaning immense profits for the Mossadniks who pulled of 9/11)............►The Obama
administration, elected on the promise to withdraw U.S. troops by July 2011,
now says the U.S. will maintain combat troops in Afghanistan until December
2014. On December 17, the House passed a defense authorization bill (by a
341-48 vote) that authorizes the Pentagon to spend more than $160 billion on
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2011 without major restrictions on the
conduct of operations. Why are U.S. (and NATO) troops being kept in Afghanistan
for another 4 years? What's really going on there? What is the cost and who is
involved in this game??

The real reason for the U.S. invasion and occupation of Afghanistan is to build and
secure a 1,080-mile long gas pipeline designed to carry trillions of dollars of
Israeli-owned gas from Turkmenistan to Pakistan and India. You could ask how
come Turkmenistans gas could be Israeli-owned, here is the answer:

Following the break-up of the Soviet Union, Israeli agents sought to gain control of the
strategic assets of the newly independent Soviet republics. In mineral-rich
Turkmenistan, a Mossad agent named Yosef A. Maiman was very successful in
gaining control of the republic's immense resources of natural gas. Yosef
Maiman, born in Germany in 1946, grew up in Peru and studied in the United
States before becoming an Israeli citizen in 1971. As an agent of Israeli
intelligence, Maiman heads a network of Mossad-controlled companies that serve
Israeli interests. As the chief executive of the Merhav Group, Maiman has
controlled the development of Turmenistan's gas resources. Maiman's key
colleagues at Merhav are the former head of the Mossad, Shabtai Shavit, and
Nimrod Novik, chief adviser to Shimon Peres, the current president of Israel.

Maiman was described as "a leading miner" of Central Asian gas fields by the Jerusalem
Post in 2004. Given their control of the immense gas resources of Turkmenistan,
Maiman, Merhav, and the "Mossad" would all profit if and when the
U.S.-led coalition were able to "pacify" and control Afghanistan so
that the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline could be
built allowing the gas of Turkmenistan to be sold to energy-hungry India . The TAPI pipeline
project would bring billions of dollars into "Mossad" coffers every
year. This is the real reason for the war in Afghanistan and why the
Zionist-controlled Obama administration has increased the war effort in Central
Asia. It has nothing to do with terrorism or 9-11.

Now you can easily understand why there was need for the "justification" of
this war, which was planned before the 9/11
(http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/1550366.stm). The false-flag terror
attacks of 9/11 were part of a strategic Israeli operation to bring the U.S.
military into Afghanistan on a long-term mission on behalf of Israel’s Turkmen
gas enterprise. The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline is
the real reason that U.S. soldiers are killing and dying in the southwestern
Afghan provinces of Helmand and Kandahar. 9/11 was just the cover story for
this pre-planned war of aggression - and it is nothing but a complete hoax.

Why we think this is going to work since this is how we dealt with Saddam and Qaddafi in the beginning is beyond me. We actually(via the CIA and MI6) helped Qaddafi stage his revolution only for him to nationalize the oil, etc. Hussein did the same thing. Just about every puppet we prop up bites us in the ass somehow, womewhere down the line. PROOF JUST HOW UNINFORMED YOU ARE AS WELL AS THOSE THAT VOTED FOR YOUR UNINFORMED POST.

KarlStevens-2597445 - The mission in Afghanistan has always been about money and resources.

The Original Mission Starting in 1950s was the Idealistic Academic Ideal of Democracy. With the US Building up Afghanistan as a 20th Century "Little America".

KarlStevens-2597445 - Money loaned to us by China so our military could secure mining territory that China is now mining. Money for a natural gas pipeline.

Horse after the cart, not before the cart. Your sequence of events are WRONG: Money loaned to US After the 9/11 2001 Attacks, actually long afterwards.

KarlStevens-2597445 - Money for the war profiteers.

Typical of entitlement babies that do not realize who their parents work for so that they can get their allowance. Ever since President FDR's US Military Defense Industrial Complex got the US out of the Great Depression, the ONLY War Profiteers are the almost hundred million expensive overpaid "fair and living wages" US Civilians of the US Military Defense Industrial Complex.

How about demanding that the US Military throw the almost hundred million expensive overpaid "fair and living wages" US Civilians of the US Military Defense Industrial Complex on unemployment.

GET THIS THRU YOUR PEA BRAIN: US President FDR knew that US Consumerism could NEVER get the US out of the Great Depression; but, the Sales of War Materials could and did 1939; before US Entry into WWII, 1941.

EXAMPLE: How many Made In China Apple iPads, iPhones, Macs, would you have to sell to equal just ONE (1) Made In US, F-15, Sold to US Ally Saudi Arabia.

And before you even say something REALLY uninformed like get rid of the US Military Defense Industrial Complex. How about this strip naked throw away your old clothes and go naked to the store to buy new clothes. Hint since you lack the brains, I will translate, you do not get rid of something proven to work until you already have something proven to work in place as a replacement.

KarlStevens-2597445 - The Taliban and 9-11 were just cover stories.

Really like you were here (Afghanistan) just weeks after the 9/11 2001 Attacks as the "Vengence Force".

Weeks after the 9/11 2001 Attacks our Teams attached to CIA SAD/SOG. Some of the Teams linked up with the Northern Alliance, our Teams (previous knowledge and experience from Operation Cyclone) went into the Afghan Cities to fight the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban Government's Militias (Army)(we almost got massacred): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arxKhJIjIiY

Obama didn't 'Hallmark' anything. Any thinking human knows that his decision to 'pull the trigger on OBL'' was 8 hours late in the making. His "pay money forward" to the Paki's and Afghan's is an insult to the U.S. citizens that follow the affairs in that region.

Poor U.S., if Obama is elected again.

Indefinite ?, most of us are going back on EARNED Retirement with NO Replacements trained. The ONLY way they can legally Recall us back to Active Duty US Military is if the US is invaded.

I honestly do not believe that living with the Afghans, catching ameobic dysentery, etc., enduring scorching summers, near Arctic Winters (involuntary extreme winter "sports"), doing President Obama's catch and release of "enemy combatants", living for weeks in a hole in the ground (crapping and peeing into plastic bags) watching MQ targets, redacted with extreme prejudice, etc. is really something we want to do anymore.

Wait, you're complaining about sending money to Afghanistan?

Where were you during the, oh lets say, last 100 years! Japan and Germany were both rebuilt with American money. Any war we've been involved in was repaired by the U.S.

Secondly, instead of a covert mission, Bush Jr. sent in the troops. How bad did that suck? Bush let bin Laden escape at Tora Bora! Bush couldn't even get the job done in all of his years. All we got from him was a Mission Accomplished banner on an aircraft carrier.

We got the first blogger posting his concerns that we are going to import Afghanis by the "boatloads" after the war is over. I think he is dead serious about his opinion on that too.

Other bloggers actually believe the Taliban is our enemy. You got a ten year old war and people don't even know why we're there, how sad is that?

Another one wants to blame the total devistation of the global economy on Obama. He doesn't even realize that the president that sent the soldier to war is the same president that put the soldier in such miserable conditions upon his return in the first place.

But who am I to obstruct your opinions with facts, you'll have the same ones regardless of what you're shown.

Time to get out of Afghanistan, the sooner the better. 2014 is so/so at best, 2012 would be way, way better. Whether we leave tomorrow or in 2 years, the end result will be the same, nothing will ultimately have changed, Afghanistan 2015 will be much like it was on 9/10/2001, replete with Taliban.

So if I understand some of the previous posts, (that I admit I did not take the time to read word for word) our friends the Chinks are reaping the rewards of our blood and capital, thanks in no small part to chairman Obumer? Why am I not surprised by this.

The timing of a mission to take out someone like OBL and the timing to bring back large numbers of troops are critical for the Presidents public relations campaign. The media attention the President was already getting and the timing of the raid to get OBL being so closely staged was just good PR. Also, if he brings back large numbers of troops at one time and at the wrong time; the fallout of all those soldiers without jobs would be very damaging to his image and chances for a second term!

mygirl1's post was misleading at best. Pure hyperbol actually. Although I never flagged it, I can see why it was collapsed.

She actually believes documents can be signed through holograms or something. She accuses the president of grand standing the bin Laden justice yet cheered when Bush was on an aircraft carrier claiming "Mission Accomplished".

I guess safety for the president is not her concern either as she would like the world to know every step our president takes.

Her opinion wasn't "dead on" unless you share the same opinion. Truth isn't fact. It's an opinion of fact.

Face it, regardless of what this president does, even if it is the same thing other president's do (teleprompter comes to mind), someone somewhere will spin it towards the vitriol.

FAILED Bush Bashing. Like you really heard about this: ): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arxKhJIjIiY

Bosslimo - Bush let bin Laden escape at Tora Bora! Bush couldn't even get the job done in all of his years.

Osama Bin Laden was NOT the original Mission (see link above). Also US Politicians were jumping up and down like in the original Planet of the Apes telling Bush that you cannot Assassinate a Political Leader. So regardless of their protests by Executive Order President Bush amended the US No Assassination Policy, 2006.

Bosslimo - All we got from him was a Mission Accomplished banner on an aircraft carrier.

Proof that you and those that believe that sh!t NEVER Served in the US Military. I used to get pissed that all the USN Ships and Boats (Submarines) would come into port with "Mission Accomplished" Banners during their Family Reunions after each Mission, as well as everyone on board those USN Vessels getting Campaign Medals (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. awards), USN "Participation" Medals, etc. while never even setting foot in those Nations (no risk to their lives). While their USN "Peers" that actually are on the ground (USN Corpsmen, USN SEALs, etc.) risking their lives get what, a pat on their heads and a kick in the arse to go back again.

And the Mission of Operation Iraqis Freedom, IAW, US Law H.R. 4655 "Iraqi Liberation Act of 1998", the US Military Overthrow of President Hussein was Accomplished. You need to learn the difference between Mission and Operation. The Next Mission of Operation Iraqis Freedom was the Rebuilding of Iraq IAW UN Mission.

Bosslimo - Another one wants to blame the total devistation of the global economy on Obama.

Read this: The Current Global Economic Crisis

      http://david393071.newsvine.com/_news/2011/02/22/6107088-the-current-global-economic-crisis

Then ask yourself (researchmotives) why President Obama by Executive Order did NOT reinstate the Glass Steagall Acts yet. Do not even attempt to use the lame excuse of "Obstructionist" US Congress, President Obama has issued Executive Orders and Policies to circumvent US Congress MANY Times.

Already as Ordered by President Obama as Commander In Chief already starting, the Reduction In Forces (RIF) of the US Military of: 80,000 US Military Personnel PLUS 27,000 US Military Personnel Returning from the Wars PLUS 10,000 US Military Personnel returning from the US Military Installations Closed at Germany (Logistics Supply and Transportation Support for Afghanistan) PLUS 5 more Brigades all being thrown on Unemployment.

PLUS xxx,xxx US Civilians that provided support to the soon to be RIF'ed US Military Personnel.

PLUS about 1 (one) Million US Civilians of the US Military Defense Industrial Complex (President Obama's and Secretary of Defense Leon Penetta's "A 10% US Military Defense Budget Cut will result in a million US Civilians becoming Unemployed").

      The specific numbers by Branch of Service can be seen here: US Army: www.armytimes.com; USAF: www.airforcetimes.com ; USMC: www.marinecorpstimes.com ; USN www.navytimes.com;

Well, aren't you a shining advocate for war profiteering.

Just a thought here... when the statements are factually sound, it isn't "Bush Bashing", trust me, Bush bashes himself enough on his own.

While true that the mission accomplished slogan hailed by Bush should have represented that one particular mission, it did not. It represented the full mission.

Even Bush questioned having the banner placed there. He knew it was misrepresenting facts.

Linking an article that you wrote doesn't make it a reliable source does it?

Glass–Steagall Act was overturned. Sen. Phil Gramm (R, Texas), Rep. Jim Leach (R, Iowa), and Rep. Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (R, Virginia), co-sponsored the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act.

So, just signing an executive order won't be good enough. But it isn't like the president hasn't tried. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/jan/21/obama-bank-reform-glass-steagall?fb=optOut

Oddly enough, ehem, a republican voiced his concerns about it...

Republican representatives to Congress have also expressed concern about the Volcker Rule,[23] saying the rule's prohibitions may hamper the competitiveness of American banks in the global marketplace, and may seek to cut funding to the federal agencies responsible for its enforcement.[22] Incoming Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Representative Spencer Bachus (R-Alabama), has stated that he is seeking to limit the impact of the Volcker Rule, although Volcker himself has stated that he expects backers of the rule to prevail over such critics.[24]

Why is it that everything that impacts the American people in a negative way has an (R) in front of the representative responsible for it?

Boss: I know it is difficult to keep defending a war mongering president, idolatry gets harder and harder but the true believer and faithful follower will always find means of justification for their idol worship. Blaming Bush is the sin qua non of the Obama idolater.

Obama did a campaign speech in Afghanistan, he used his little trip to once again bring up killing Osama. Had he done his little pre-treaty, treaty deal in private, and left the podium at home, perhaps, maybe, one could believe the rationale for the trip.

Amusing how you can focus like a laser on Bush and go all myopic when Obama does EXACTLY the same that Bush did. Now, Obama is a whiz when it comes to the executive orders and bypassing congress. As to Glass-Steagal...now, who all were in place for the financial collapse? Who all did Obama re-assign after the collapse? Same crooks. Interesting that no Obama supporter ever focuses on that little tidbit, don't want to admit that Obama isn't all you want him to be? Think Obama could have pressed to get a semblance of a Glass-Steagall act in place in almost four years? Think Frank-Dodd is useful in preventing another financial meltdown? Really?

As to signing treaties, the President can have a representative sign those treaties, also, note how he used his little 'auto-pen' to sign Patriot Act II (another little fact that seems to escape the Obama sycophants is how warlike and anti-civil rights their hero actually is.) NDAA, AUMF, Patriot Act II, all Obama's little babies, no Bush in sight. Why would Obama do away with anything that came from Bush? He is Bush.

You seem to cast fog and mirrors to the two presidents. It seems all blurred to you.

      Here's the difference.

Bush said "Mission Accomplished" when it wasn't.

Obama said “Justice has been done” and it was.

Now, fog it up, smear it with contaminants, blur it around in people's heads, but that is an undeniable fact.

Indeed you must know how difficult it is to defend a warmongering president, you did that for the full 8 years of Bush wars.

Even the simple minded understand the difference between the two presidents.

Bush knew how to start a war, even knew how to falsify documents to get it rolling.

Obama knew how to end a war. Iraq, Lybia, and soon, Afghanistan.

That is the undeniable difference between the two presidents.

What I stated had nothing to do with FDR, China, Saudi Arabia, or being in Afghanistan.

You are asking me ridiculous questions which has absolutely NOTHING to do with the discussion.

As I stated, Bush waved the Mission Accomplished banner when it wasn't.

Bush stated at the time that this was the end to major combat operations in Iraq. While this statement did coincide with an end to the conventional phase of the war, Bush's assertion—and the sign itself—became controversial after guerrilla warfare in Iraq increased during the Iraqi insurgency. The vast majority of casualties, both military and civilian, have occurred since the speech.

I stated Obama said justice was served, which is true. You said, go ahead and warship your messiah.

What is wrong with you? Do you tell everyone to worship your adversaries every time they point out actual facts about them to you?

I make two factual, undeniable, and undisputable statements and you become a bomber jet throwing out flak .

If Obama will take such blatant credit for taking out Bin Laden, then should he not take, vociferously, credit for the killing of innocent villagers in the vastly increased drone strikes his administration has conducted? But, no, obviously, those were failures of intelligence and the people undertaking those missions. You know what they call that kind of leader?

I guess by your standards we would also condemn FDR and Truman for all the civilian casualties that we had to inflict on Germany and Japan to take out their leaders. I suspect that Obama did not order deliberate attacks on civilians, and sincerely regrets when they occur, just as the majority of Americans do. On the other hand, he did order the take out of Bin Laden.

Here's the problem: Obama cannot allow terrorism to resurge in Afghanistan. Not for the future of America. If we leave, it does. If we stay, it still may.

This is an election year, it would be so easy for him to make the easy decision for his political career and say we are going to leave even though he might not believe he would actually do that. But instead he has decided to be honest with us.

This is the what great American Presidents are made of -- I hope I would say the same if this was a Republican, I think I would.

I see Obama is following in George Jr's footsteps in believing that, because I make a declaration, it is reality. I'd say it is all part of the elections, but, this seems to be standard ops for our fearless leaders. I'm not sure if they feel they can get away with it because they think the public lacks intelligence and is easily manipulated or because the public lacks intelligence and is easily manipulated.

Agreed...I just think that a lot of hard-right-liners are bitter about Obama's success over ordering the bagging of Bin Laden considering that Bush took the sour-grapes rout and claimed he no longer cared.

Oh, and the fact that Bush had OBL in his sights and didn't pull the trigger when he had the chance. But I guess much like his history of killing his father's businesses and having daddy buy his Harvard MBA, if it wasn't offered up to Bush on a silver platter, or neatly diced into fine lines on a mirror...he wasn't going to have any of it.

If I accidently kill someone while doing something hazardous, they call it manslaughter. They don't say it didn't count because it was accidental. If a president gets to take credit for things like taking out bin Laden, then he has to accept the blame for the innocent casualties that occur as well.

Well, Truman was a war criminal. Bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki was an act of revenge for Pearl Harbor and had no impact on the war. I am no Obama fan, but I understand he did what he had to do. Bush however had a choice.

Ummm, seems this all started with 9-11. Now, WWOD (what would obama do) under those circumstances? Short memories of how blood-thirsty the country was after 9-11 seem to abound. As to World War II, seems an entirely different set of circumstances, like international war happening all over the place and Japan (an actual country) declaring war on the US. Sooo, you all are not even comparing apples to oranges, you're comparing fruit to automobiles.

Regardless of President, we would have likely gone into Afghanistan to go after OBL and Al Qaeda after the events of 9/11. Those events were pretty much an inevitability regardless of party in power.

The difference really is whether we would have also gone into Iraq, and also how the war in Afghanistan would have been handled after its outset.

                Therein lies the primary difference.

NielM- Really? Hiroshima and Nagasaki had no impact on the outcome of the war? Estimates are between 250,000 and 500,000 American lives that would have been lost is we had continued to slug it out all the way to Tokyo and the Japanese mainland. Some of the carpet bombing raids on Germany caused as many civilian casualties.

Listen very carefully to the conversations during the 23 minute communications blackout at the Whitehouse.

In 2006 President Bush amended by Executive Order the US No Assassination Policy for the Termination of Osama Bin Laden regardless of the opposition of US Politicians, as this made it "open season" on any Politician to be terminated by any Nation, as discussed in the Harvard International Review Article: US No Assassination Policy On the Offensive.

The US No Assassination Policy prevented President Bush from Authorizing the Termination of Osama Bin Laden during Tora Bora. President Clinton used the US No Assassination Policy as an excuse to not authorize the US Military Asymmetric Warfare Teams shadowing Osama Bin Laden after the 1993 First World Trade Center Bombing as the main reason for NOT Authorizing the Termination of Osama Bin Laden.

The US Military and US Intelligence Agencies held 100% Accountable and Responsible for a Mission Failure, the Scapegoats already selected.

Regardless of how much I hate Wikipedia, they extracted something from a classified source as to those who would be held 100% Accountable and Responsible for the Mission Failure (and it was NOT President Obama). This information and other information was used to apply pressure on President Obama pertaining to other matters (Deals that are none of your business).

Thats right, far more lives were SAVED than were killed by the 2 bombs. Both sides ultimately benifited.

                  Seriously?,

Incorrect. We would not have gone into Afghanistan were a more intelligent person, or less evil person, president in 2001. According to a Washington Post article in October 2001, the Taliban offered to hand bin Laden over to a neutral country in order to avoid an invasion. Bush refused as he had already decided on war (actually he had already decided he wanted to build an oil pipeline for his arab oil tycoon butt-buddies, which was the first thing that got done once we had control of the area where the pipeline was to be built) and kindly told them no thank you, but that he would rather have more Americans die so that his arab oil tycoon butt-buddies could make a little more profit.

So, no, invasion of Afghanistan was not inevitable, it was quite avoidable.

You want to claim that Bush went to Iraq to get the Iraqis Oil to pay for the US Military Liberation of Iraq with Decades of Iraqis Oil, well then you must also blame President Obama for his March 2009 Policy that caused the Iraqis to NOT negotiate with the US anymore to stay at Iraq, and the 2010 loss of the Iraqis Northern and Iraqis Southern Oil Fields to the Chinese and Russian Federation.

Incorrect. Maybe you should look up and reread the article you mention. You have failed to acknowledge or realize that this all started when Clinton was still in office. Another meaningless rant from David. Funny how America is allowed to build a gas pipeline through Afghanistan and Pakistan, if Obama screwed up so bad by wanting to reason with Iran, instead of starting another war for Israel.

We are in Afghanistan to make it safe for the TAPI gas pipeline, which is to be used for transporting trillions of dollars worth of Israeli owned gas from Turkmenistan to India. The war was all for Israel, the country that took down Bldg 7 and the 2 WTCs with controlled demolitions.

Common sense indicates that 3 buildings, all owned by the same Jew, that had been recently insured
for billions, do not fall into their own footprints , as in a controlled
demolition. One of the buildings, Bldg 7, was not even hit by a plane. Here is
                        a video of it falling.

Do you know what that link above has to do with this topic NOTHING just like your Conspiracy Theories.

                            Bosslimo,

I already Read all those that you copied and pasted from the bottom of Wikipedia and you know what (since you did not read all of them) THEY ARE OPINIONS NOT: Who, What, Where, Why, When, How, etc..

STOP USING WIKIPEDIA FOR ANYTHING, STOP BEING SO LAZY. DO NOT TELL ME YOU LACK COGNITIVE RESEASONING SKILLS AND MUST HAVE EVERYTHING INTERPRETED FOR YOU.

                            RalphH,

From your previousNewsvine Posts (clicking on your screen name) we already know that you are a brain washed Islamic Believer of the Mandatory School Curriculum at Islamic Nations of Hitler's Mein Kampf taught as a Success Story and the Conspiracy Theory Blame the Jews For Everything, "Protocols of the Wise Elders of Zion". As established by Amin Al Husseini as the Representative ofthe Islamic World 1933 Forever Alliance of the Islamic World with Adolf Hitler. As well as Amin Al Husseini's cofounding the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations with the Original Charter Goal of the extermination of the Jews.

Since you don't know how to read and comprehend what you read here are some photos for you:

                            http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=amin+al+husseini&view=detail&id=B7B3E4F4ECE8E3BC77C9F4F1E0B1C242A5BA077C&first=31&FORM=IDFRIR

You can deny that you are brain washed all you want. I attended a College at Egypt to learn Arabic and later on to learn Islam (taught only in Arabic) while living with Egyptian Families. And had to attend the Mandatory School Curriculum so I know, as takes one to know one, except I did not get brain drained and brainwashed like you (as indicated by your previous Newsvine Posts that you are.).

Since YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH ABOUT A BILL NOT BEING PASSED INTO LAW, as the Iraqis Oil "Law" was NOT a LAW and that should have alerted you, that all that about the so called Iraq Oil Law was BULLSH!T.

Does someone have to draw pictures for you. Pathetic. This is more your level of education:

I never said it was a law, I said that at least the presiden tried.

Go on, go scroll up and look.

I don't expect an appology. You just keep on throwing out crazy topics which has absolutely nothing to do with the article. Just keep calling people Isamists of Hitler when you don't like their opinion.

There is no middle ground between the two of us. Lets just agree not to agree, ok?

Uh ... and the mission we started was what, exactly? I thought it was to destroy al Qaida, which I thought moved to Pakistan and Yemen, not to nation build. So, there no longer being a purpose to being in Afghanistan, why pray tell are we still there? Oh, that's right: mission creep. Now we're also trying to get rid of those pesky Taliban, while keeping a government in place that will be a friend to us. Hmmm, who was it that said we may be there for 100 years?

Comenzar de Volver - Uh ... and the mission we started was what, exactly?

Weeks after the 9/11 2001 Attacks our Teams attached to CIA SAD/SOG. Some of the Teams linked up with the Northern Alliance, our Teams (previous knowledge and experience from Operation Cyclone) went into the Afghan Cities to fight the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban Government's Militias (Army)(we almost got massacred):

                              The Mission: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arxKhJIjIiY

Comenzar de Volver- I thought it was to destroy al Qaida, which I thought moved to Pakistan and Yemen, not to nation build.

They ran from Afghanistan (us) to Iraq and became Ansar Al Islam. President Bush deferred US Military Expertise to the US Military, so we went after the Al Quada that escaped to Iraq to finish the Job as US Military Operation 2002-2003 Operation Hotel California.

You don't want Nation Building then tell the US Politicians to get the hell out of the United Nations (UN Mission Nation Building).

No, the mission was to clear the way to build the oil pipeline that Bush's arab oil tycoon butt-buddies wanted to build (and it was indeed built) that the Taliban opposed.

Bush kept the troops there to protect the oil pipeline. Apparently nobody from the previous administration let Obama in on the real mission, so he just did what he thought was the mission and obliterated al Queda.

You'd have to be incredibly naive to believe the "al Queda in Iraq" lies.

Saddam HATED bin Laden and al Qeuda (both even put a price on the other's head), as Saddam preferred to run a more secular government, and bin Laden publicly chastised him for it. Saddam would not have allowed any real al Queda operatives to survive more than a day in Iraq. Also, the notion of al Queda operatives actually crossing Iran to get to Iraq is completely retarded, both politically and geographically speaking. You have looked at the map, have you not? Seems not.

I'm not sure what history you're trying to write but it isn't fact.

I suppose you wish to ignore the 30 falsified documents Powell brought to the U.N.

Go pull up a map. You're actually saying the Al Qaeda pulled up stakes and moved to Iraq???

Are you sure they didn't follow U.S. troops to Iraq? The idea that the U.S. cleared the way for Al Qaeda to entrench itself in Iraq elludes you?

Even today, I find it fascinating that there are people out there that actually supports Bush Jr.'s "Squirrel!" moment, leaving bin Laden to escape and invading Iraq. It doesn't seem to matter how much evidence you show them, they still believe Bush led a justified war. Saddam has WMDs! Saddam has plutonium! Saddam has sided with Al Qaeda! Watch this Youtube video that shows our military in action! We are torturing people legally to protect us!

Just a thought here... but if Bush was such a good president, why isn't he out there campaigning for his republican candidates?

Maybe, just like bin Laden, it is of no concern to him.

Listen very carefully. In 2001 weeks after the 9/11 2001 Attacks I was placed in charge of reforming the Teams composed of my former Teams that conducted Operation Cyclone as the core of my new Teams. Our Mission: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UcapIQmFNw&feature=relmfu

After surviving the intense Battles at Mazar i Sharif and other Afghan Cities. US Congress signed into US Law, the US Senate's 2002 Iraqi War Resolution (with the US House of Reprentatives H.R.4655) the US Congress (both Houses) became the Declaration of War with Iraq. From our previous experience (Years) from Operation Cyclone we observed those Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists that escaped us used the Southern part of the Oild Silk Road that goes from Northern Afghanistan to Northern Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran to the Northern part of Iraq they reformed themselves as Ansar Al Islam at Iraq. After gaining the trust of the two Kurdistanis Warlords (that had to be kept apart or they would kill each other, due to a decades old blood feud), we organized them, trained them and armed them as our FID (Foreign Internal Defense) Mission, and they became the Peshmerga. One group (one company of our Teams, two (three) companies of Kurdistanis) went after the Al Quada (Ansar Al Islam), the other group went after the Iraqis Chemical Facility at Sargat (It was NOT a coincidence that I was previously trained at Fort McCellan and Redacted by USAMRIID and experienced at Redacted with Chemical Munitions and had authored parts of Operation Steelbox and Golden Python). After the intial Actions we regrouped and then started our other Mission Objectives: a. Create a Strategic Operational Feint by Seizing and Securing the Northern Iraqis Oil Fields to cause the Iraqis Military Command to redeploy their Main Iraqis Military Forces north of Baghdad as believing the Main US Military Forces would come from US Ally Turkey., b. Special Reconassiance., c. Targeting and Eliminating Iraqis Political Leadership and Iraqis Military Command., d. Preparations for the USAF elimination of all Iraqis Electronics using non nuclear E-Bombs., e. Complete destruction and elimination of all C4I so that the Iraqis Military Command and Iraqis Political Leadership could not form a cohesive defense of Iraq, as the Iraqis Military was "Command Driven" (no Orders meant Iraqis Military did nothing) a known weakness (from our experience from the First Gulf War), no initative.

During 2002-2003 Operation Hotel California, since we speak Farsi (actually only me, since 1980), Arabic (I previously learned Arabic at a College at Egypt) we lived with the Kurdistanis at Northern Iraq to gain their Trust. The Kurdistanis are the longtime armed allies of the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran and speak a form (pigeon) of Farsi. My Teams (survivors of 2001 Afghanistan) were composed of US Army Special Forces, USAF Special Operations Teams (now known as Special Tactics Teams), USMC MARSOC (then known as USMC Special Operations), USN SEALs (little known location at Germany as part of Atlantic Fleet), CIA SAD/SOG due to attritions we were augmented by the 10th Special Forces Group (from Stationed at Germany, their AOR EUCOM not the "Middle East"). After our Intial Mission Objectives (a. thru e. above) were achieved we started to attack the Iraqis Military, many of those that we were attacking were some of those that we had trained during the Iran Iraq Wars as US Allies (now all grown up and in positions of Iraqis Military Leadership), so instead of killing them, we used (still classified) measures to destroy their equipment and let them escape. Our Forces combined with the Kurdistanis "Companies" Officially (Documented) destroyed five (5) Iraqis Full Strength Armored and Mechanized Infantry Divisions; unofficially we also destroyed the other one (1) Iraqis Full Stength Mechanized Infantry with attached Armor Division that was being held in Reserve. Think about how Company sized elements destroy Heavily Armed Division sized units without air support, our previous experience on the same terrain as US Military Training Teams to US Ally Iraq during the Iran Iraq Wars helped considerably.

After 2002-2003 Operation Hotel California those of us that survived Operation Hotel California and the previous Operation weeks after the 9/11 2001 Attacks were given a break to reform, replace our dead, assess new Team Members to the Teams, and start the Team training processes. In 2004 we were redeployed to here (Afghanistan) to conduct US Military Asymmetric Mountain Warfare after refresher training in Mountain Warfare with the Deutsche Bundeswehr Commandos and further training with the US Ally Turkey fighting the Kurdistanis PKK, HPG, KGK at Southern Turkey and Northern Iraq (same Kurdistanis that we were allies with during Operation Hotel California).

Osama Bin Laden was such a concern to President Bush, that he Amended the US No Assassination Policy in 2006 to specifically authorize the Termination of Osama Bin Laden, that President Clinton failed to do as a risk to his Political Career.

Lets not confuse our stated mission with our real intentions. Our troops are deployed around the globe to protect and advance corporate interests, everything from oil in the middle east to the vast mineral riches of Afghanistan. Our presence in Afghanistan is all about mining rights for politically connected corporations. Anything we do to help a nation recover or rebuild is for no other reason then it makes it easier for politically connected corporations to make huge profits.

                                    Rick-3416939, Jim-3113262,

Like I asked Bosslimo and VirginiaDemocrat78:

WHAT IS THE NAME (TITLE) OF THE PRESIDENT OBAMA MARCH 2009 POLICY that caused those sequence of irreversible events throughout the "Middle East" including Southwest Asia (Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc.), Africa, etc.?

And yes, it is that President Obama March 2009 Policy that resulted in the loss of the Iraqis Northern and Iraqis Southern Oil Fields to the Chinese and Russian Federation; as well as, the loss of the High Tech Mineral Wealth of Afghanistan to the Chinese. And the Chinese and Russian Federation are darn sure not going to give back the US and US Allies Losses.

Escalated? So I take it you were much happier with largely ignoring Afghanistan and instead traipsing into Iraq for a war that the US is still trying to come up with a reason for?

Gotcha...we should have continued to ignore Afghanistan and let the Taliban and ISI escalate operations...that would have been the proper strategic move, yes?

How cushy are those rests on your armchair, General Moderate man-3896602? Another cup of tea while you strategize?

Don't bother. Moderate would be kneeling in front of a shrine of G.W. in his basement right now if Bush had taken out Bin Laden. However, because Obama did it, he deserves nothing. It's a joke and hypocritical. I bet when Saddam was captured Moderate was against Bush taking any credit at all.

Afghanistan was a mess. It was ignored while Bush was busy with his personal vendetta against Saddam.

Bin Laden was probably killed in Tora Bora, but Bush Jr and our govt needed to keep the bogeyman alive to justify staying in there. Our guys had Bin Laden's communications intercepted then after a B-52 strike it all went dead. ANother fact was that not too long after that an Egyptian newspaper announced he was dead and had his obit front page news. You might say I am a conspiracy type, but face it look at all those Bin Laden tapes we got to see for almost a decade after 9/11. In the earliest ones, he is in Afghanistan, looking thin and gaunt, with a straight graying beard. Then in some of the later ones, his hair is brown, and his beard is curly, and he looks healthy, when he is supposedly on dialysis for kidney problems. Why weren't we allowed to see a body? You think with this triumphalism of Obama now, a corpse would have been a great prop to that. Naw, it was too gruesome, but they showed Hussein getting hung. Another things that make you go hmmm fact. The guys on the SEAL Team 6 that bagged him got bagged themselves in getting their chopper hit within what? A couple weeks of the main event? Wag the dog folks, wag the dog. Big Brother in Orwell's 1984 needed a domestic terrorist Wallenstein to keep the rubes in line, and thinking they needed their dear leader for protection, but as you read on in the book Wallenstein is actually Big Brother. Every @!$%# we have taken out/or will take out was created via the CIA/MI6 or because of our stupidity in foreign relations.

Fidel Castro- Cuban Revolution due to Batista's corrupt regime, supported by the US govt

HO Chi Minh- At the Treaty of Versailles conference he was a delegate from Vietnam who wanted his nation to be free from French colonialsim. Since the whole thing was based on revenge and not on Wilson's 14 Points, the delegations blew Ho off, and he went back home and became a communist. This wasn't Wilson's fault per say, but he needed to show some more balls.

Saddam Hussein- received CIAbacking/training in Egypt in the 50's. After Gen Qassam liquidated the Iraqi Royal family, he backstabbed the US by nationlizing Iraqi Oil, so Hussein and the Baathists took care of him, only to do the same.

Qaddafi- ANother CIA temp. Took out King Idris because he wanted to nationalize Libyan oil, Qaddafi ended up doing the same once he ousted him, then became a thorn in our side for decades.

Korea- Dean Acheson mapped out the Asian Defense Perimeter during the early days of the Cold War. Taiwan, Japan, the Phillipines, and of course Australia were all included. One nasty omission though, S Korea. This stupid and probably blatant omission gave the reds the impression we didn't give a damn, so all the more inviting to try and unite the nation under their arms. The whole thing was moronic as we divided up Korea in the first place with the Russians, allowing them territory when they declared war only weeks away from total US voctory over Japan. The Russians gave big help to the Chinese Reds in their civil war with the Nationalists, where the US played both sides of that one, giving us Commie China today.

Bin Laden might have been indeed killed by SEAL Team 6, but something didn't go right or it just didn't go down the way we are supposed to believe. I have a hard time t hinking that the Taliban were in position to take down a chopper that had an entire SEAL Team in it. My whole point about the Bin Laden stuff was that there are a lot of holes in the story or secrecy where there really doesn't need to be any, to not think that some or all of this crap is indeed wag the dog.

You do realize that USN SEAL Teams are very large. And most of those that were killed in the CH-47 were not the same USN SEAL Team Members that conducted the SR (Special Reconnaissance) Mission that turned into a DA (Direct Action, Raid, Originally Locate and Capture Osama Bin Laden.). The "Elite" of the USN SEALs are those selected to be part of USNSWDG, just like the "Elite" of the US Army Special Forces are Detachment 1 aka "Delta", USMC "Elite" being USMC MARSOC Redacted, USAF Special Operations "Elite" being the USAF Special Operations Wing Redacted.

Sorry to burst your Conspiracy Theory.

"Wing Redacted"? must be the nannyware they put on our computers, it is showing up on my computer uncensored. Oh well guess I will be getting another arse chewing (the nannyware rings someone's bells and whistles). To talk around that the USAF normally attached to US Military Teams that are normally attached to CIA SAD/SOG or actually become SAD/SOG. You know who they are if you were with SOCJFCOM. The current acronym for those USAF being Redacted some attached to my Teams. You do know that most Civilians will not even bother to figure out who the SFOD-D (1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta) are. By the way they have been renamed, just like the USNSWDG was renamed to Redacted (laughing) kind of like while the kids are at school moving and not leaving a forwarding address.

They were asked, interviewed, volunteered, assessed, further trained and assessed to the Teams. Just like everyone else of the US Military Branches and Agencies.

You're right, most civilians (and others) will never know or bother to understand so why argue? We already tried that.

You're going to need to go back in time and tell that to Ronald Reagan.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are the scum that they are today because Reagan armed them both to fight the Russians in the 1980's. Heck, we probably wouldn't have had to worry about Osama Bin Laden either if the US didn't get involved in a proxy-war through the Afghans...he might have just stayed the spoiled, delusional Saudi Royal pig he started out as.

But given the above, ignoring Afghanistan is not a solution to our problems unfortunately.

We are paying with lives and $$$ for purchases made by our fathers and grandfathers during the Cold War.

I hope that the Afghans take a shine to having a government and can trade their AK's and bombs in for plowshares and industry...but it's going to take decades at the very least. Hopefully the Afghans don't just topple the government they have now and replace it with the same/similar tyrannical regime that they've had for most of their history.

Republican war, bad. Democrat war, good. We saw it all through the Vietnam years. LBJ was smart enough not to run for re-election.

Holy crap! It's almost as if there is a vast difference between understanding the reality of the situation as commander in chief vs. campaigning for the job as a junior senator. Do you also lambast HW Bush for raising taxes after his campaign promises not to?

So I take it repeating a disastrous evacuation from the region a la Vietnam was the proper order of business?

How again did Afghanistan end up a hive for training terrorists? Oh yeah! Because we left it a smouldering hole in the ground after the Russians retreated in the mid 1980's

I'm sure that Afghanistan wouldn't just rebuild itself as another base camp for launching terrorist attacks on the US like it did last time, right? I'm sure the Pakistanis and local Afghans love Americans and can't wait to help turn Afghanistan into a modern and civilized country!

Bush the poster GOP child, innocently killed WAY more civilians in NON-Drone strikes, its called almost 1 million IRAQI in the pointless good for nothing war we waged to finish the job of Bush Sr.

Bush took getting Osama Bin Laden OFF the table, it was no longer a mission. Obama made it a key policy to go after him, 2 different styles, and I can tell you the one that cost less and was more satisfying to America.

No way Plastic Romney is getting re-elected..

They were already tracking bin Laden's courier before Obama took office. Obama had to be filled in on what was going on with that. Obama didn't do anything different in tracking bin Laden down that was already going on when he took office.

You are an idiot if you think Bush took getting BL off the table. The real people involved and not Obama have verified that in their commentary about Obama trying to take credit for the operation. No other President in history has tried to claim such credit. Obama out in 2012.

That's crap. Bush didn't know where the hell OBL was. He had his chance and the incompetent one let him escape in Tora Bora. There might have been scraps of information when Obama came to power, but nothing definite. Obama specifically asked Panetta/Intelligence to draw up a plan specifically to take OBL out. That was when the serious intelligence gathering focused on OBL started. Nothing to do with Bush.

Stop trying to insert Bush, Cheney, Romney, Romney's dog, into the story. They had nothing to do with it. The torture did not help, either. That has been proved. Bush screwed up and Romney is a foreign policy non-entity. Deal with it and move on....

The Bush family and the Bin Laden family are in fact best friends. They where both business partners in Saudi Oil and members of the Carlye Group. According to Patrick Bellringer, the Bush family was protecting Bin Laden. He checked into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN prior to September 11, 2001 seeking medical treatment for his kidney problems. The hospital gave him and his family a floor unto themselves for privacy. He later died on December 26, 2001 from kidney (renal) failure and lung complication. The big lie by the US government is to keep the people believing there are terrorists out there to get us. It’s hard to have a War on Terrorism, if there are no terrorists! Furthermore the media refuse to investigate how a dying man can survive on a dialysis machine in remote Pakistani caves for over six years.Time to wake up to the real game people are being played believing obama got bin laden when he died years ago time to take the red pill.Namaste

President Obama didn't start the never-ending war on terror, but I'm sure glad that he's working to end it. KSM and OBL are finished. It's long past time to bring our boys back home.

Blaming Saddam and attacking Iraq for the 9/11 attacks were Bush's idiotic, misguided response. No link to 9/11 and no weapons of mass destruction, no mission accomplished there and I'm thankful that President Obama wrapped up that embarrassing chapter in our history. Seriously, if Bush had been around during WWII, he probably would've declared war on China, even though Japan ambushed us.

Obama will go down in history as the greatest president ever. Ending our longest war is just another history making feat. The president before, the bushman, was sooo much like johnson, another texan. The guy said he would retreat from vietnam i mean afghanistan and then invade cambodia i mean iraq. Just made the war larger while solving nothing. Obama does it right. I tell you he is a military man through and through. A true commander in chief.

Now watch mr grover, the gop, & the rushbo attack obama. Saying all sorts of things. About how he should have ended the war earlier. Then later. Then how he should be invading iran. But the truth is, they had there chance with president johnson i mean their president bushman and made a royal mess.

Obama is probably one of the best ever presidents of the U.S.A, he is a miracle sent in a time when another 4 years of GOP would have literally destroyed America, during Bush you had every scandle possible. How does good ole Dick Cheney sit on the board of Halliburton and they get all the contracts in IRAQ?

Either way, Obama is definitely going to get another 4 years with a Mandate to do what he needs to help this country and GOP will be so demoralized there party will almost be into irrelevancy and should just go away. They have completely lost the support of the people and their message is completely lost.

Obama 2012, GOP be scared, since your days are numbered.

Monies their leaders use to further their own agendas. Leave them to their own devices to destroy each other and put a stop to all the reckless spending of our American soldier's lives that are dying for this nasty country, Afghanistan, and stop sending money to our enemies. P.S. Obama, get off the "I killed OBL" track you are on in you campain ads. As president, you did nothing more than any other person as president would have done.

In a brilliant political move for garnering votes he threw out all bankruptcy laws and handed the company to the people that are putting it out of business...the Unions. (granted GM is #1 again but I'm not convinced the Unions won't flush the company down the toilet again until they stay on top for 5 or 10 years) Not to mention skyrocketing deficits after promising to "cut it in half by the end of his my first term". He is also better at robbing us of our constitutional rights than all other presidents in history COMBINED. Signed patriot act twice after promising to get rid of is then added insult to injury with NDAA and HR347.

Did you know a huge wave of forclosures is being put off until after the election too?

                                                                          • 1 vote

So, they used TARP money to pay back TARP money debt. The debt forgiveness money varies from either 34 billion to 37 billion. Nice to know a company can be forgiven billions in debt and STILL succeed. Rather clever to twist it into seeming like GM actually paid off the loan. Now, 60% of GM, the NEW GM, is owned by the government and the UAW. The Unions made out like bandits at the expense of the shareholders. Essentially Obama screwed the people who had invested in GM and handed most of the company over to the unions and held the company in government control, hence the moniker; Government Motors. Interesting how the little regurgitators never look or think beyond what they are told. Additionally, new plants, overseas are opening and how many Americans are going to work in China? Sad to say, most of the new jobs for Americans are overseas.

The US Treasury is looking to unload GM debt, they hope to sell shares but in order to do so they have to have the stocks at a certain amount.

It would have been much more befitting if this crass, nitwit of a president had not chosen to "celebrate" a death, even Bin Laden's, and instead had chosen to honor the 1800 people that have died in Afghanistan by visiting their graves in Arlington, or, conducting a memorial service in New York at the 9/11 site. Instead he chooses to thump his arrogant chest over Bin Laden's killing when the only thing he did was give the order from the safety of his home turf. ANY president would have done the same. The real heros here are the Navy Seals that risked their lives and honored their mission. But somehow, Odumbo seems to have forgotten about them and all the other people, including the previous administration that played huge roles in this mission. Instead he uses this "killing" as a political ploy for re-election and secretly colludes with a ruthless and corrupt leader like Karzai. Shame on him!
