The United States has given billions of dollars to Egypt in recent decades, but research published Tuesday by a major think tank suggests most Egyptians think American aid is having a "negative effect."
A poll by the Washington-based Pew Research Center also reveals growing Islamic sentiment among Egyptians since the Arab Spring, with 66 percent thinking Islam plays a major role in the country’s political life compared to 47 percent in 2010.
Six in 10 want to see Islamic law strictly enforced, compared to just six percent who feel it should have no influence.
The poll comes after local media and the country’s parliament heavily criticized U.S.-run non-governmental organizations, which are accused of meddling in Egypt’s affairs. Many Egyptians were incensed when U.S. citizens under investigation - including Sam LaHood, son of U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood - were allowed to leave the country.
Muslim Brotherhood shocks Egypt with presidential run
There was also widespread anger that the U.S. withheld support for opponents of Hosni Mubarak’s regime until it became apparent the ruler would fall.
Cairo receives $1.3 billion annually from the U.S. government in military aid, according to the State Department. However, the Pew poll shows six in 10 Egyptians think it has a negative effect – a figure that may prompt calls in the U.S. for aid to be cut.
Only one in five Egyptians have a positive attitude toward the United States, and less than one third expressed confidence in President Obama. Among young Egyptians, Obama’s popularity decreased by half in the past year.
Dr. Gamal Abdul Gawad, professor of political science at the American University in Cairo, told msnbc.com that Egyptians are disappointed in Obama.
"They had high hopes but feel that he did not deliver," he said. "They liked the position he took after his election toward the Middle East but did not see any follow up."
The results might disappoint those who hoped Egypt would follow in the path of Turkey, whose moderate Islamic government is making overtures to the West in its bid to join the European Union. Sixty-one percent of Egyptians told Pew they would prefer to follow the fundamentalist Saudi Arabian model of government.
"Egyptians feel that the world has left them alone during the hard time after the revolution," Gawad said. "The U.S. made lots of promises but did not deliver, which further intensified the negative feelings people already had toward the U.S."
Egypt lifts ban on American activists from leaving country -- if they post bail
There is also bad news for Egypt’s immediate neighbors: most Egyptians favor overturning the 1979 peace treaty in which Egypt became the first Arab country to formally recognize Israel.
Roughly six in 10 want to annul the treaty, up from last year's 54 percent. Opposition to the treaty significantly rose over the last year among young people and the highly educated, Pew said.
The Pew report is based on a survey of 1,000 Egyptian adults, conducted between March 19 and April 10, 2012.
Msnbc.com's Alastair Jamieson contributed to this report.

Very cool. No need to send them US aid any more. Egypt should be able to have a reasonable govt size, budget, mostly fund its own govt. The big expense item is their military. Who are they scared of? Saudi Arabia? Israel? Israel has no need to try to expand its borders to include more Arabs. They have enough problems with the Palestinians. Egypt could cut their military in half, and still have plenty of protection.
I suspect it is just like the US. If you give the politicians money, they will expand the govt and military to the biggest size the money will allow. If they have less money, both govt and military will be smaller.
Stop US aid to Egypt. Let the rich Arab countries help out their neighbors. Or better yet, let Egypt live within the money their tax revenues can sustain-ably generate.
The aid to Egypt has been little more than 'buying influence' with the Egyptian government and military. If the vast majority are saying "We don't want your money", then by all means, let's find a better use for it.
It 'bought' peace in the region for over 30 years, but it's tlme to review our program.
Good - They do not want our money then we will keep it. It is unbelievable that supposedly highly educated people want to see the peace treaty with Israel repealed and have a fundamental Islamic form of government. Just where are these "highly educated" people getting their educations, madrassas. How people can claim to be highly educated yet be so completely ignorant is unfathomable. The Obama administration made a huge mistake in supporting these Arab Spring uprisings without looking at who was really behind them. Now we are paying the price with a rise in the number of Islamist governments throughout the region. When you have such an ignorant and largely illiterate population, sometimes the best form of government is to have a relatively benign, secular dictator as opposed to letting the people democratically opt for a fundamental Islamic regime. The majority of the population is not intelligent enough to make sound choices regarding what is the best for them. They fall prey to religious rhetoric and promises and end up living in a backward society that is ruled through fear and intimidation. Majority rule only works when you have an educated, enlightened majority, otherwise it leads to subjugation and persecution of minorities and a complete lack of ability to dissent or to express individuality. It becomes a society where one must conform to survive. This is not a free society and certainly does not represent what democracy is supposed to be about.
Should we ask for our money back then?
Whoa, lay off the Kool-aid there JS. If they want to have an Islamic government who are we to stop them? Good thing we stoped Vietnam from being a Communist country right? Oh wait no, we just lost 50,000+ American lives for something that was going to happen anyways because it's what the PEOPLE wanted.
They don't represent what democracy is supposed to be about? Wow, I wonder why... Oh, maybe because they DON'T WANT A DEMOCRACY! Yes, how dare they want to have their religion enforced as law. Good thing people don't try to do that with Christianity! Oh, wait, they do. But let me guess, it's OK because you worship the right imaginary person and they don't?
STOP THE FLOW OF U.S. TAX DOLLARS TO EGYPT NOW!!! We are only supporting terrorist groups that will attack us, with or without the money.
SIMPLE.......Quit sending them aide, keep it here for Social Security, Medicare, Homeland Security, our Military...and, and, and...................
If a countries people dislike us, maybe we should stop sending aid?
@Cyrax - I guess you feel that if the majority of the people are OK with a totalitarian regime that executes anyone who does not follow the state religion that it is perfectly acceptable and no other country has any right to say anything about it. Their is no country in the world that is a religious controlled state where any religion other than Islam is followed, unless you want to include the Vatican. Even England where they have an official state religion, the Church of England, people are still allowed to worship as they choose and are not forced to follow the tenets of the church. In your world, since the majority of people in CA voted and said that gay marriage should not be allowed, I guess you think there should have been no recourse in the courts and that the majority will should have been followed. I guess you are saying we should just tear up the constitution with all it's provisions that protect minority rights and go back to majority mob rule. In your world slavery would be OK so long as the majority of people in the country supported it. Sometimes the majority does not know what is best, particularly when the majority is poorly educated, misinformed and largely illiterate. An Islamic Republic is a highly repressive form of government where people have very limited freedoms and those who do not toe the line a mercilessly persecuted. Do you really think that this form of government is acceptable and that the rest of the world should do nothing to end the persecution.
I definitely think that democracy is the prefered form of government, but it does not work unless you have an electorate that is reasonably educated, informed, and competent enough to make good decisions that recognize the rights of others.
All foreign aid is unconstitutional and wrong. It has a major negative impact on foreign relations, it funds corrupt governments, and it's costing the US taxpayers many billions of dollars every year. Money which we don't even have in the first place.
Ha, $ 1,300,000,000 aid nnually given to Egypt which is going to turn it's back on the U.S. after the dust settles and the Muslim Brotherhood takes control of the country.
And, the $ 1,300,000,000 is only about 1/3 of what the American taxpayer lose $ 4,200,000,000 ANNUALLY which is FRAUDULENTLY given to Illegal Aliens (Immigrants) via the IRS using the Additional Child Tax Credit and claiming DEPENDENTS living in Mexico:
Eric- NY...."If a countries people dislike us, maybe we should stop sending aid?"
It must be that our Congressional Representatives, the IRS, and the DOJ must dislike the law abiding taxpayers by allowing the above FRAUDULENT activity continue. As for your comment, ALL foreign aid needs to be under a microscope. There are BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars given out, and a heck of a lot of it goes into someones Switzerland bank account.
JS, I hear you loud and clear, the problem is that most idealogues don't think the rules apply to them. According to some of the ideas I hear, if I happen to see a woman being raped in the parking lot at WalMart I should just mind my own business and walk on. It's no different than allowing atrocities around the world in other countries. The only difference is scale.
Make no mistake, the laws that are lovingly called Islamic law or Sharia law are evil. When a woman is the victim of a rape and then victimized further by the courts, what else could you call it?
This story could almost exactly parallel American society and how our religious fundamentalists would like to turn this nation into a theocracy.
It's really quite astonishing to see the world progress further into the 21st century, yet nation after nation (including our own) keeps slipping backwards a few generations every year. It's just like the old adage: One foot forward, two steps back.
But here we are, and there we go ... constant blinders on regarding what our society faces.
Just keep saying "faith" though. Crack a little smile, wink, and a nod ... for as long as you put "faith" in front of it, you can damn near get away with anything.
Gay rights? What rights? They're gay. Keep those queers at bay, will ya!
Contraception!?!? What year do you think this is sonny! Keep dem der legs closed!
Evolution? Well I never .... I aint no damn ape boy!
As long as people keep confusing religion with spirituality, this madness will only get worse. We reap what we sow, at home and abroad.
"Most Egyptians think U.S. aid billions have negative affect". Most Americans have known this for a long time.
Wish I had a swiss bank account, and it was going into it.........:)
I think Americans know this but our leader doesn't grasp this concept.
I am really shocked with the comments, yes we don't want the US aid, and NO we are not terrorists and we don't support terrorists, you guys should be thankful that we are doing your OWN job of asking YOUR government to stop giving money to the government WE don't want, and leave the money to the Americans especially with that economy. Weird!
Please refund a 1.8 billion dollar check to me. I will be sure to share it with my neighbors and the poor in Iowa.
I didn't see tat they were sending a refund in the article. I guess it didn't have that big of a negative effect after all.
Arieus....."I didn't see tat they were sending a refund in the article."
My post # 1.10 was giving a comparison to the Egyptian aid vs giving away BILLIONS to Illegal Aliens (Immigrants) who are claiming a Child Tax Credit for children living in Mexico.
If you, or anyone on this thread, is "upset" with either (especially the Tax Credit), then contact your Congressional Representative. I sent an email to each of my Congressional Representatives and they have yet to respond. So, sending an email would probably be a bad idea since our Congressional Representatives will not respond and if they do, will only provide a "canned" statement.
Congressman Ron Paul opposes foreign aid to all countries on constitutional, practical, and moral grounds. Constitutionally, Congressman Paul notes that the document that created our country does not grant permission to Congress or the President to authorize funds to be taken from the national treasure and given to foreign countries. He also cites the statements of some of the founding fathers who warned the US to steer clear of foreign entanglements.
I happen to agree with RP on this. The rest of the world is not my, nor other Americans concern. They need to take care of their own people as we need to start taking care of our own as well.
Why would we continue to send foreign aid to a country no longer in compliance with the Camp David accord? Why would we continue to send foreign aid to a country after it elected the Muslim Brotherhood to power in parliament? Why would we continue to send foreign aid to a country that wants to impose Sharia law thus making women in Egypt second class citizens?
Must be the desert heat..those people in the middle east are REALLY crazy!
"Negative effect?" Well...that settles that. We could use those billions to rebuild our own highways and schools. To Egypt and all those Middle East countries who don't like America's negative effect...be careful what you wish for.
We can't get away with buying friends there.
Buyng and appeasing have limited impacts.
Here is the example.
***************************EPIC FAILURE*************************
First, I warned all of you what President Obama's March 2009 Policy would result in throughout the World.
Second, I started to warn you that the Representative of the Muslim Brotherhood had been negotiating at the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran before the Overthrow of US Ally President Mubarrk.
Third, I warned all of you about US Ally Turkey's Raids on the Main Fundamentalist Islamic Jihdadist Training Camp located right next door to the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran at the Autonomous Kurdistanis Region, that forced hundreds of thousands of Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists to flee Causing them to flee back to their Nations of Origin.
Fourth, one of the things negotiated by the Representative of the Muslim Brotherhood was for the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran to have access and possible control of the Strategic Suez Canal. With movements of the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran's Supersonic and now (2012) Hypersonic Land Based Anti Ship Missile Batteries, specifically designed to sink US Aircraft Carriers by evading USN Countermeasures and USN Screening Ships. If they start to mobilize their 21st Century Anti Aircraft Systems as well as their Supersonic and now (2012) Hypersonic Land Based Anti Ship Missile Batteries, then we know where they will be deployed (along with Chinese and Russian Federation Maintenance Technicians).
Fifth, Amin Al Husseini as the Co Founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, was also the Representative to the Islamic World and signed the 1933 Forever Alliance of the "Islamic World" and Adolf Hitler, mutual goal of the Extermination of the Jews, including establishing an Elite Muslim SS Brigade at Germany to round up the Jews, and other Units Worldwide all fully backed by the German NAZI Military (SS). Later on Amin Al Husseini Co Founded the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations, to Exterminate the Jews (why the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations repeatedly attacked Israel even after losing all that land, and spending all that oil wealth on USSR Military Equipment instead of feeding their own people or improving their own Infrastructure).
Sixth, Amin Al Husseini's influence on Future Generations, to continue the Hatred of the Jews, US, US Allies, was simple; start when they are young, and "Educate" them to hate the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers in accordance with the 109 Suras of the 114 Suras of the Holy Koran (Quran) that Calls All Islamic Believers to War Against the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers. This was passed on to President of Egypt Nassar, and the Fundamentalist Islamic Egyptian Political Party "Young Egypt". This is why today there are the Mandatory School Circicuulum of Hitler's Mein Kampf taught as a Success Story (sabotaged by the Jews), and the Blame the Jews for everything Conspiracy Theory "Protocols of the Wise Elders of Zion".
Seventh, it was President Mubarak that had outlawed most of the Fundamentalist Islamic Egyptian Groups as Terrorist Organizations. As the Fundamentalist Islamic Organizations started to gain dominance at Egypt the Egyptian Military was ordered by President Mubarak to do "Humanitarian Assistance" to the Egyptian People, even to the point of providing food daily, running bakeries, etc.. As the Fundamentalist Islamic Organizations started to incite the Egyptian People, as to how they were trained in Asymmetric Warfare (Insurgency) by the Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran's Military Special Forces, Quds, at the Main Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist Training Camps at the Autonomous Kurdistanis Region.
Eight, Pressure on former US Ally the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Government of Iraq to get the US out, no more Negotiations.
Nine, Pressure on the US Ally Government of Pakistan to get the US out, no more Negotiations, no more US Military Bases, etc. or the Fundamentalist Islamic Believers will organize the Overthrow of the Pro US Ally Government of Pakistan.
With all of the above I would be "disappointed" if an Ally like President Obama let my arse end up getting Overthrown and my Nation then became filled with Fundamentalist Islamic Organizations.
Just a note: The 104 Acre $1 Billion US Embassy at Iraq spends $1 Billion per year to operate, just like the $1 Billion US Embassy at Pakistan costs $1 Billion per year to operate. As far as "US Military has pulled out of Iraq", sure who do you think provides Security to the 104 Acres at the US Embassy as 16,000 minus 1,500 US Embassy Personnel at Iraq (and don't even say US Security Contractors they would not put up with living four to a dorm room), you do have to do Patrols "Outside the Wire" to keep snipers, rockets, mortars out of range of the US Embassy Compound. A lot of previous US Military Iraq were moved to Kuwait then to Jordan due to the Syrian problem (I previously told you that Al Quada Syria were also at the Main Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist Training Camp, President Assad started to announce to the International News Media increases in activity of Al Quada Syria after the US Ally Turkey Raids of the Main Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist Training Camp with the result being SOS Clinton and President Obama ignoring him, the same with Former US Ally President Gaddaffi stating increased Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist Activities with SOS Clinton and President Obama calling him a Dictator regardless of implementing "Human Rights" as praised by the UN and African Union (UA) Observers, same thing happened to US Ally President of Yemen he reported increased activities of Al Quada Yemen, short of being labelled a Dictator SOS Clinton and President Obama ignored a US Ally again.).
Yep, President Obama's March 2009 Policy worked out really well (extreme sarcasm). Most of you don't even know the name (Title) of President Obama's March 2009 Policy. Hint: US Ally King of Saudi Arabia, "President Obama gave Iraq as a Gift to Iran on a Golden Platter". That's right all that Decades of Iraqis Oil to pay for the US Military Liberation of Iraq gone due to President Obama's March 2009 Policy and US Ally Saudi Arabia pissed because they are now surrounded and are providing the US Saudi Arabian Oil to make up shortages, as well as also due to President Obama's March 2009 Policy the US European Allies lost the Strategic Libyan Oil to the Chinese (via Qatar).
Yep, keep Collapsing My Posts, keep voting on Popularity not substance (Facts), be too lazy to do the research then connect the dots, don't learn anything from someone that lived at Egypt with Egyptian Families and attended College there.
Let's just find out if its true. Suspend all aid and see what real impacts it has on the Egyptian people--negative or positive. I'd rather not waste money on Egyptians that could be used to pay off our Chinese loan, anyway. ENJOY YOUR BEACH!
After all the Lead, melamine and other "Chinese" fillers lawsuits are over, and give "China" a wooden nickel, and tell them to rebuild their wall.........Get technical.........Have our Government call in all it's no or low interest loans, that were never repaid and wiped off the books......screw this double standard......
Negative effect eh? Sure, then let's stop wasting the taxpayer's monies on their worthless hides and start taking care of home base first & foremost. That includes getting out of Afghanistan and other countries who don't deserve our help too.
Not really sure why people are having trouble understanding this; the money we sent them was used to buy weapons and support the infrastructure that was used to keep them suppressed. How else would they view the so-called 'aid'?
The US sends money to the guy who is oppressing you - are you going to have a good opinion of either the US or they money?
Duh.
I definitely think that democracy is the prefered form of government, but it does not work unless you have an electorate that is reasonably educated, informed, and competent enough to make good decisions that recognize the rights of others.
couldn't have said it better, this is also the current problem we are facing right now in the U.S.
We americans need to shut up and stop judging other governments when ours clearly isnt working right now either. this is not a D or R problem it is an american problem and until a 3rd party is formed or we learn to work with each other instead of choosing different sides of the same gang then we can look forward to the inevitable collapse of our empire.
Some of your comments stating that what you see in Egypt would be the same model as what conservative Christians want in the USA is absurd. As a fundamental Christian I love the way that this government protects our right and other faiths right to practice their faith, and I include with this the atheist who if they had their way would take away our right to worship but I and others want them to have the right to not worship. And this is the difference between a fundamental Christian and a fundamental Islamic follower, I want the right to practice my faith and to stop the attacks against my faith, also I and millions of others equally support your right to have no faith or a different view of faith. Islam fundamentalist want to impose their faith upon us and make us live under the laws of their faith, they want to take away our freedoms and force Christians into second class citizens and would put you atheist (who love the Muslims so much) to death. Also anyone of different sexual orientation they would also condemn to death, while we Christians just ask you to keep your practices to yourself and let us decide what we want to teach our children (and that is to love all no matter what their sexual orientation, faith, or political affiliation is), quite frankly we are tired of being trampled on, having ourselves under attack by the left who think they know what is best for us, and yet as they attack us demand that we be silent and do nothing. Sorry folks this is going to stop, but unlike some of other faiths we have no wish to convert you violently or to put you to death, we just want the freedom to practice what our forefathers and the founders of this nation practiced with the government not meddling in our affairs.
Please explain what that even means?
Please elaborate on one example (just one) where an atheist has put forth a motion to "take away" your right to believe in whatever the hell you want to believe. Just because Christians don't understand that we live in a secular, pluralistic society/government that consists of many (E pluribus Unum), doesn't mean we are trying to take away your rights. It just means you can't (and won't) impose your morality upon us. Personally, you could spend your days rolling around in fairy dust for all I care. Just realize your beliefs don't automatically superimpose and translate overtop of my own.
I come to my way of thinking through our shared and collective human experience. It's through the human condition in which our ethics and morality originate. You believe your ideals and spirituality come from a book?
Fine.
I'll stand by your right to that belief, and I'll fight in your stead to protect that right.
Just realize that many of us are not from one book. We mustn't be ... we can't be.
You may want to research Deism and The Age of Enlightenment before making such blind statements about our founders.
Go with the majority and pull all aid from Egypt along with any other country that doesn't appreciate our help like Pakistan and Afghanistan . We could use the break from supporting the world !
I can't argue with you and this is one problem easily remedied.
and make sure don't go near them to help when they scream.
In Syria lots of screaming is going on! Iran is having lots WMDS. May be some are confusing with Pakistan.
So Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt and other ME nations on line should teach some lessons!
Jonathan-1982062,
I previously warned you about your American English, you will figure it out yourself.
First it was about Aids (Auto Immune Deficiency Syndrome) instead of Aid, now it is sentence structure changing what you are intending of saying.
Funnier than the Starving and over populated Egyptians saying that they don't want American aid is the battle between two intel folks on this net....David and Jonathan.
David makes sense and says he is in the Stan doing his duty while Johathan says he is a fraud. Johathan never says where he is or what nationality, but still his perspective is interesting as well.
I personally enjoy the dialog of opposing people in the same field. My questions is this...which one is correct?
Just because I do not like Israel and the "Chosen people" type of mentality, does not mean that I would not support them over fanatic Moslems. Same as Qaddafi, Assad and Mubarak. I had and have no love for them, but they did keep the lid on the nut cases.
What do you think Jonathan? Should the West just abandon the zoo keepers and let the animals out? Is Western style democracy human rights posible in a region of the world where the love of Islam means submit to the dictates of the Imam and democracy is hated?
How can we live together? I see Islam as a weed growing in the garden. Let it grow and it will take over. But then again, those dictators are not much better than the Islamic fanatics. One just as bad as the other, but one that we can work with vs those that we not only can not work with, but are actively at war with. Your thoughts?
MOSinEUR,
I have known who Jonathan-1982062 is. Why do you think for the longest time I kept telling Jonathan-1982062 to stop posting Taqiya (Lies to Advance Fundamentalist Islam) as part of the Mandatory Islamic Tithes. I know how Jonathan-1982062 thinks (methodology, psychology, philosophy of Islam) having gone to College at Egypt to learn Arabic, and later on Islam taught in Arabic only; and having to take the Mandatory School Curriculum (Hitler's Mein Kampf and the Protocols of the Wise Elders of Zion) or be expelled.
Ever heard of SIGINT, ELINT, COMINT, etc. all perfectly legal after President Obama's January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts (plural) Legalized the Monitoring and Censorship of All US Communications. As Newsvine, a US Owned Corporation (MSNBC aka Microsoft) at Seattle Washington, so fair game for Monitoring and Censorship.
As far as here (Afghanistan) STOP doing this, lining thru our departure date.
2001. 2002 for Operation Hotel California 2003. 2004 Down time to replace dead.2005.2006.2007. Redacted.2009.2011.2012.2013.2014. Indefinite ?, most of us are going back on EARNED Retirement with NO Replacements trained. The ONLY way they can legally Recall us back to Active Duty US Military is if the US is invaded.I honestly do not believe that living with the Afghans, catching ameobic dysentery, etc., enduring scorching summers, near Arctic Winters (involuntary extreme winter "sports"), doing President Obama's catch and release of "enemy combatants", living for weeks in a hole in the ground (crapping and peeing into plastic bags) watching MQ targets, redacted with extreme prejudice, etc. is really something we want to do anymore. Redacted.
We were supposed to leave NLT DTG 270312.

david: Others had warned you and alerted you not to write some made up stories.
If my English is bad, your whole bunch of cooked up stories are nonsense and insulting to people with some sense.
You are an agent of Mossad or some Jewish group!
david: One good thing about you people is that you people mess whatever you people touch.
In Iraq, likes of you had to run leaving more mess.
In Afghanistan, despite all your "brilliant" ideas and "asymmetric warfare", you people are finding ways how to run if you people survive. I am assuming at least ten percent what you write as correct.
This is what you people achieved in 11 years.
On Syria and Iran, nobody is buying your Israel's pressures!
Now do "asymmetric warfare" before your computer!!!!

MOSinEur: I support all non-Muslims in the battle against Islamic religious Nazis. Here I consider Saudi Sunnies as No. 1 enemy.
This includes Jews as well.
1. In battles, losses should be minimum.
2. When Muslims fight among themselves as in 1991 Iraq, watch from sidelines. Don't determine the winner.
3. Same is the case with Iran and Syria.
4. I consider Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as enemies of non-Muslim world. No support of any sort directly or indirectly and I would support anyone opposed to them. So I support Iran and Syria.
5. I wish all Shiites join hands and battle these Saudi Arabia and Pakistan once for all.
6. We will handle winners.
7. Have patience and no jumping the gun as david, extremist jews, oil companies do. Iraqi wars 1991 and 2003 were simply idiotic.
Ah so...Jonathan, you are Iranian. No shame. You just post your side of the argument. I wish more people would post where they are and where they come from. It would make for much more interesting conversation.
My question to you is how are you getting access to the internet when so many of your people are shut off? Are you perhaps in another country? Are you allowed to post what you think, or is there a minder behind you telling you what to write?
I would think that as a Shia, you would be happy with the American Invasion of Iraq. We freed your people. Now as long as they don't fall under the fist of a @!$%#e dictator, they may have a chance. If they follow gangsters like Sader, then they are no better off then under Sadam.
Meet the new boss, same as the last boss...
MOSinEur: If I am an Iranian and Shia, then you are an extremist confused Jew!!! Only such arrogant can make your assumptions.
Did you understand my post?
I think that you are in a big hell hole of your own to imagine about Internet.
I used Internet about two decades back and I have two US patents too!
Our aid to Egypt on a per person basis, amounts to a few dollars for each citizen. Our aid to Israel, represents a gift of more than $500.00 for each man woman and child in Israel.
In return, we have received from Israel, an attack on the USS Liberty, which killed 34 US sailors and wounded 172. On 9/11 Israelis and Zionists in America were complicit in the bringing down of the World Trade Centers. See video below and link to the Israelis, who in all probability set the charges in the buildings. :

So, cut it off!
I'm assuming you mean the aid....
Stop aid to Egypt- & all the other Arab countries.
They want tu nullify the treaty with Isreal? LOL, I guess they forgot that the treaty was because they tried to screw with Isreal and got their a$$es stomped. LOL Sure anull it & pick a fight again...LOL
cut all foreign aid, period! not just to "Arab" countries.
I have no doubt that the threat to withhold aid made the Egyptian Army back off during the revolution. The Egyptian people must at least acknowledge that, even though they also recognize that the aid was used in the past to prop up a brutal regime. It may still play a role in Egypt's evolving political crisis.
Stop all aid at once... Let it be someone else's turn to cut these Country's a check.... lets keep our tax payers money here where it belongs. If someone wants to donate there own money let them...
To me, this is 1.3 Billion dollars a year that could be going to Social Security that everyone is worried about going broke.. Just my 2 cents...
"most Egyptians think American aid is having a "negative effect.""
Social security and health care money sent there has this impact.
Does some have brain to go on feeding these Egyptians, Pakis, Saudis (station soldiers to protect without Bibles) and co?
'Let me just go ahead and get that from ya'.The way our govt is,it'll save money to not print useless paper
I know that IF I am helping someone less fortunate than myself and they not only don't appreciate but spit in my face, I am not likely to want to give them any more assistance, but rather a swift kick in the, um, don't let the door hit you in the, um, leave them to their own devices.
But enough about our welfare system. We were talking about Egypt, right?
Yes, they spit in our face. How rude of them to not want the aid that their former regim was using to supress what is clearly a population of people who want an Islamic law form of government. We're certainly not at fault for giving billions a year to influence a government to do what we want as opposed to the will of their people!
Most countries that are predominately Muslim do not want our help, unless it has to do with getting rid of a political party they don't like. These countries think of the USA, as the devil, yet they are also the ones that, as soon as they are being persecuted, scream for our help.
Our Country seems to be the, world's police, and the food bank. how long can that go on?
As long as US Citizens keep hiring (electing) US Politicians that demand that we, US, remain in the United Nations. United Nations using the US Military as the United Nations Military B!tches.
Before you even say NATO, might want to research SACEUR as the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (NATO), basically NATO is the US based on US Military Personnel, money spent, etc. as to why the SACEUR is routinely a US Military General or Admiral.
If Egypt abrogates the Egypt-Israeli peace treaty does it mean Israel gets the Sinai back?
We send Egypt aid to partly offset the fact we provide aid to Israel. That was part of the basis of the Camp David Accords. If we keep providing the aid to Egypt, it's cheaper than providing even more aid to Israel if it feels militarily threatened by Egypt and Egypt feels militarily threatened by Israel and begins allying closely with other sources of money like Iran.
Iran has no money. They are cutting subsidies on basic good even as we speak.
The Egyptians are absolutely right, our billions in foreing aid have a negative impact on the recipients and they have a negative impact on the United States as well! Part of the domestic negative impact is the damned politicians begin to think the American economy is a bottomless well of ready cash when in fact it is like most everything else FINITE!!!!!
The purpose of U.S. aid is first to grease the wheels of multinational corporations and second to keep the American citizen in poverty. Herbert Hoover was a big fan of foreign aid and refused to help U.S. citizens who were starving. Foreign aid is always to support and protect elites; foreign and domestic.
guys, the US is not helping Egypt , or any other country for that matter, 'cause they are poor, unfortunate and we offer our help in sympathy, or because we want to excel at popularity contests. The government has determined , rightly or wrongly, that this aid will benefit US interests, and don't forget most military aid is used to buy US made weapons, plus its used a leverage to pressure these countries to buy more American products and services, so its not a one-way street.
It seems to me, we should withdraw economic and military aid other countries. We can still be involved, I'm not saying we need to be isolationist, but we ought to limit our influence to "only if it's free."
There's no reason for us to maintain militaries of other countries, nor pay other countries in aid packages. It's a tough world out there -- let them wear their "big boy pants" and pay for their own @!$%#.
I mean, heck, can I qualify for aid from the government? Maybe I can personally secede from the US and request an embassy and foreign aid.
The Egyptians are correct, sending them aid does have a negative effect - on the USA. We have our own problems here at home. Stop aid to Egypt and put the money to work right here in the USA where it will help US citizens.
Yup, the 1% ers need that money. To spend it on the 99% would be class warfare.
Of course we should stop aid for them, and Israel to! What? No, not Israel? ahh. O.K. then.
Have you noticed that Israel isnt the side that is complaining?
P.S. It's funny that you think there are only 2 nations the US gives money to.
Israel complains all the time, of course not about the money but they do complain about who we elect and they try to influence who we do elect using the same money we give them. they complain when our policies don't directly benefit them, they are not too different than the majority of countries we give aid to, they all act like spoiled children, expecting that weekly allowance whether they have cleaned their rooms or not.
stop all foreign aid!
While I disagree with the negative effect I do agree with pulling out all aid from Egypt and every other country we seem to support. Maybe if our government would spend some of that $$$ on us our economy would recover.
Ah, nope. Go research the 1929-1939 Great Depression, what was done by Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito to get Germany, Italy, Japan out of the Great Depression years before the US, what was done by President FDR to get the US out of the Great Depression (and DO NOT even say New Deal to the American People or I will know that you did not do the research).
Hint: To get the US out of the current $60 Trillion to $100 Trillion "Global Economic Crisis" (aka Depression) President Obama by Executive Order (to bypass US Congress) Reinstates the Glass Steagall Acts. (Research the Glass Steagall Acts also, who, what, why, when, where, how, how much, etc.). You can keep treating symptoms forever, until you eliminate the Causes the Results remain the same.
The repeal of Glass-Steagall, written by Phil Gramm (R) in 1999, was the primary cause of the depression and economic collapse we suffered under Bush. The bill was passed by the huge majority of Republicans in the House and Senate and was veto proof. The repeal eliminated the protections that protected the country since the "Great depression". One only has to look up Phil Gramm, to see how him and his wife were simply doing the bidding of the banking houses.
David - watch this video and tell me if you think that Bldg 7 fell to the ground because of fire or a controlled demolition. This will require honesty on your part. It is a simple question, with lots of evidence, but requires mostly a little common sense.

We send them MILITARY AID which the MILITARY then uses to shoot their own people.
Yea, no wonder they are saying "No Thanks!" to more aid.
Shows how much you paid attention. The Egyptian Military provided the People (many of being their Own Relatives, distant relatives, friends) with Food, Baked Goods, etc.. Before the Egyptian Military got saturated by the Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists of the Muslim Brotherhood, that is all that they ever did, Humanitarian Assistance to their own people. They only being opposed to the Fundamentalist Islamic Muslim Brotherhood (until recently). For the longest time the Egyptian Military was like a State's National Guard providing Humanitarian Assistance to a State during a Natural Disaster (Egypt's very long State of Emergency).
In many cases the Egyptian Military maintained Law and Order on both sides, as to why someone covertly informed them as participants in the Arab Spring anti Mubarak Demonstrations as well as a bunch of Egyptian women that US News Reporter Lara Logan was being beaten and raped by the "Arab Spring" Demonstrators; that is what we do when we are attached to US Embassies as covert Special Surveillance to protect US Citizens abroad;just like someone covertly told the Christian School Administrators at Indonesia and a Indonesian Police Officer that the other children were beating up Barry Sorento on the ground (kicking him in the head) at the Christian School for his reciting the Islamic Prayers before being indoctrinated into Islam at the local Indonesian Mosque as insisted on by his step father after his mother took away his US Citizenship so that he could receive Indonesian Citizen's "Benefits". After making sure that the Egyptian Military and the Egyptian women stopped the violence that individual disappeared into the crowds; just like after informing the Christian School Administrators and the Indonesian Police Officer that person disappeared (walked very quickly out of sight), as part of "Special Surveillance" Overseas to prevent US Citizens causing International Incidents.
By the way whenever you travel to Potentially Hostile Foreign Nations, you are given a Briefing. When you are told, "Every hair showing is a dagger in the Eyes of Allah", we are not blowing hot air up your arse of you so called "Experts", so we don't care, DO NOT UNCOVER YOUR HEAD IN PUBLIC, especially if you have Blonde hair, stup!d f**king US Reporters, almost outing us and risking our lives also.
If that's the case then we should stop giving them money. We have people in our own country who need the help.
Sorry Egypt; he didn't deliver here in the US either.
Not surprising. Kinda like how our "aid" to Latin America in the 1980's supported right-wing caudillo dictators that used CIA trained "death squads" to keep the peasants under control. Guess what? negative effects.
Simple solution to that, stop aiding Egypt? I'm sure we could find some use for it in the US...roads, bridges...you know the 'luxury' stuff.
Roads that is all on you for voting (hiring) id!ots for your own Local, City, State Politicians, spending all that State Revenue (your Tax Money) and anything else especially Illegal Aliens, instead of Infrastructure.
If you are talking about Bridges, Inter States, etc. then that is all on you also for hiring (electing) US Politicians and demanding a Cut to the US Military Defense Budget, that little known fact that the US Army Corps of Engineers US Infrastructure Projects/Programs are Funded by the US Military Defense Budget. Just like most of the Entitlement babies want to cut their own genitals off, because they do not even know where their own Entitlements, and Parents Money as their Allowances, College Payments, Car Insurance, etc. come from Directly or Indirectly.
@ David: Foam at the mouth to someone else. This is our country, and the tax revenues should be spent on us first. If Egyptians have a problem with our aid, we can apply those funds elsewhere.
If We had a real president not a m____M lover we would have cut them off by now.
You mean Bush prays to Allah 5 times a day?
So you're saying Obama likes M&Ms?
M&Ms = Masochists (Like Bikers) & Muslims (Islamic Believers Fully Subjugated to Fundamentalist Islam).
I couldn't agree more.
Luckily, the solution is simple...
