Xian Xiyong (left), son of Li Jie'e, and another relative (right) cry next to Li's body after she jumped off a building and died at a demolition site of Yangji village in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.
A woman killed at least two people and herself in a bomb blast and another woman took her own life by jumping from building in separate protests in China over the demolition of houses.
China Daily said three people died as a result of the explosion at 9 a.m. local time Thursday in Zhaotong city in Yunnan province. Four of 14 people who were injured were badly hurt, it added.
A witness told the Kunming city newspaper that the woman went into what was described as the demolition bureau and detonated some explosives, according to China Daily. The witness said the women had been asked to agree to being relocated from her current house.
BBC News, citing witnesses, reported that the woman had been negotiating over compensation. It said she was among the three killed.
"We have opened an investigation. I can't tell you anything, but three people were killed and 14 were injured," a local official told the AFP news agency.

In the second incident in Yangji, a village that has been swallowed up in the rapid expansion of the city of Guangzhou, a woman called Li Jie'e jumped to her death from a building, apparently in despair at the demolition of her house, according to local media reports cited by Reuters.

AFP noted that a suicide bomb attack by Qian Mingqi, a jobless man angry over a land dispute, killed two people in Fuzhou last year.
Qian, 52, lost a home in 1995 and another in 2001 to make way for the same highway, AFP said, citing reports.
"For the past 10 years, I have suffered a great injustice. I cannot find justice. I was forced to go down a road I didn't want to take. I will get justice myself, through concrete action," he said.
In September 2010, three people set themselves on fire in Fuzhou over a land dispute and one died, AFP said.

Just an other reminder that China is not a country with a functioning legal system.
riiiiiiiight, because people dont go GUNS BLAZING in the US when something pisses them off and they cant find "justice" on their own?
im not saying China is perfect, or has a failed legal system...im saying, we've no room to speak.
our legal system is just as inept for SOME of our citizens, many of them are gay.
Ask NC about their functioning legal system and how the rights of some just dont exist.
A very brave woman. It's awful she had to be pushed to such limits.
A brave woman indeed. What did she achive, some publicity and 2 minutes of fame. Now there will no opposition to demolish the house, the government will go ahead with their plans to build whatever they were trying to build.
Unfortunately - The most powerful nation in the world, is the one that does what is best for the nation, doing what the NEED, rather than WANT. All previous world powers, did what was needed disregarding any injustice done to so few, but benefited so many more. This is the same - and we all did it - British empire, Romans, and of course the US.
It doesn't make this right, but it is how the world goes around. China is now at the stage of being the world power - it is doing it in everyway possible.
Here in the noble US of A, the Supreme Court upheld the Eminent Domain clause. Now cities and governments go in, take private property via confiscation and...sell it to developers to build apartment complexes. Not roads, schools, electric power lines or anything that would benefit the many, nope. Theft to benefit the developers who make money and bribe the 'elected officials' so that they, too, will make money. Sooo, we have absolutely no room to bash the Chinese government for theft, our government allows and encourages the destruction of private property to benefit the developers, the politicans and whatever other crook who stands to profit. Keystone Pipeline, anyone?
Looks like a Texan is jealous that China gets to kill more prisoners than Texas does.
On the topic of "functioning legal systems", let's ask Cameron Willingham how justice in America works. Oh, we can't, he was executed already, even though science has proven he didn't commit the crime of which he was accused.
The US legal system is independent of administration. Not claiming it is perfect, be we have good intentions
"China woman"
Great writing MSNBC! As for the woman, she takes activism to a whole new level.
Right, jumping off buildings and suicide bomber. Not very inspiring for men or women for that matter.
RE: pug-s
Like the monks that self immolated to protest the Vietnam war?
Like the Chinese student that stood in front of a rolling tank?
Like the suicide bombers that inspire others to kill as well?
Yeah, obviously none of those events had an effect on anyone else.
Jessica...you are SO right...our system defends people with money and power (or fame) and the rest of us take whatever they dish out.
Funny how if you blow yourself up in America you're labelled as a "terrorist" but if you do it in China, its China's fault.....Supporting Israel against Islamic protest, occupying and invading Middle Eastern countries based on false pretense and if Terrorist attempt to do anything about it, its their fault. But oo Chinese woman gets evicted from her house and blows her self up injuring others and its China's fault. Double standard here..... If you ask me evicting someone is not as serious as invading an entire country and killing innoncent lives in the process...yet both results in people blowing themselves up and you guys have a serious double standard.
As soon as I saw the story I remembered Stephen King/Richard Bachman's book "Roadwork"
Sorry for all the lives lost, you just never know what someone may be thinking that drives them to such extremes.
PROPERTY RIGHTS are the keystone to social order. When you lose the right to own personal property there is no longer any reason to obey. There's nothing to lose.
Native American population, case in point.
This will happen here if Agenda 21 is fully implemented in America. The progressivs plan on taking our homes and radically changing our lives.
Huh?
Agenda 21? Hahaha... seriously, stop drinking.
Ok, don't believe it, at your peril. Do some research and report back what you find.
I've just read some on Agenda 21, and it seems banks are already practicing some of it's principles.
I'd been in foreclosure for 3 years, hired 2 different attorneys, tried working with the banks, the county auditor, all the 'voluntary' programs that supposedly exist and still lost my home. Long story short, both lawyers told me the bank (and Freddie Mack, that backed the loan and WAS bailed with MY money) wanted the home, there's no way they'd work with me as it's more beneficial to foreclose at loss, claim the loss, claim improvements needed to sell, take whatever is make on the new loan and again, write off that difference.
I lived there for 17 years, owed 54K on it, the bank bought it back for 34K and now it's on the market for 22K or best offer. My father bought me a foreclosed home for 25K from an account he had for when he passed, as inheritance. Now, I've got to file bankruptcy and pay ANOTHER lawyer big $$ to get the home in my name, as Ohio is a recourse state. So, not only did the bank put me through more stress and my family than I'd ever been in, not only did they make out 3x over on posting losses but they also can come after my new home if I don't pay more and more$$ to lawyers and go the bankruptcy route.
So yeah.... agena 21 seems to be in trial run, at least.....
And it is reasonable to conjecture that maybe most people do not own anything with years and years of mortgages and loans to pay.
Amusing how the little scoffers put on their blinders and dismiss anything that doesn't fit their world view. Agenda 21 is rather interesting. No private property allowed, land use determined by the state, people herded into 'living complexes' and somehow, this is a conspiracy theory even though it is right there on the UN website. Of course it is worded in flowery rhetoric with lots of 'social' benefits that will happen as a result of the loss of the individual's rights. Did anyone notice the 'population control' aspects?
Interesting how many people who voted for Obama are ok with this. But then, they did vote for Obama, Facts and history and research are anathema to Obama voters. They like their script fed to them in small, easily digested catch phrases, no thinking required.

Citizen: The Federal Reserve has just given China permission to buy American banks. I've posted a link to a CNBC article. The article concludes with the statement that, of course, China won't be able to buy the BIGGEST banks in the US. They forgot to add...yet.
Perhaps the Ageda 21 naysayers will also scoff at that info as well, after all, Obama is in charge, China owns lots of US debt and who's to say when and how they'll want to access some of the USA's prime resources. Obama would probably sell them lots of BLM land in exchange for some of that debt.

mygirl1: Well it's time to throw the obumers out. At the federal level we need to implore the congress to start impeachment proceedings and at the state level we should all write the Secretary of State (SOS) and tell them that we know for a fact that Obumer has not been properly vetted for president and that he is not eligible for the office of president of the United States. Here in Indiana you can fill out a CAN-1 form to challenge a candidates eligibility so I will be doing that. If enough people challenge a candidate, such as oboma, the SOS, elections commission, media and electorate will pay attention. If he cannot run in the states he cannot be president.
That's been tried and ignored. The Media is in Obama's pocket, his administration goes after any group or individual that goes against him, witness what is happening with Sheriff Joe. Obama has all the power and resources of the Federal Gov and the police state which it contains. You are witnessing Chicago style politics, similar to Mafia tactics.
Six corporations own the media, those are nothing more than propaganda dissemination machines. The Obamabots are so besotted with their idol that nothing he does or says makes any difference. Then you have a Spanish company now controlling the voting machines. The CEO of said company is part of the progressive agenda and guess what, so are the congress. Both parties are merely two heads of the same body, ever wonder why they can come together to unanimously vote in legislation like Patriot Act 2 or NDAA?
This picture and article are heart-wrenching to look at, read, and digest. It is extremely disturbing to read about the high rate of suicides worldwide due to the economy, unemployment rates, and loss of personal property for eminent domain. I am disappointed with the leadership in our world...are they reading these articles or are they too busy stuffing their pockets and stealing from their people?
Isn't that how the movie "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" starts?
So too, the book trilogy.
I've no sympathy for the Chinese government as they're just as corrupt as ours, but I do have sympathy for the Chinese populace as I do our own. By the same hands that have orchestrated our national economical sell out, and thus our lives, our pride, our purpose have also caused such despair in both countries.
Some Chinese are now experiencing better lives, better quality of life and financial successes as we lose all the afore mentioned to America's selling out. The Chinese government is still very much communistic and government is an iron fist; they will do what they will, personal rights be damned. They aren't government by, for, and of the people and neither has ours been for some time. Our government failures across the board are a bit more softer, more polite in how they do it but do the same.
We're expected to compete with them, level playing field, their government, their wages and support both Dems and Repubs that see absolutely no problem with this. Chinamerica, Americhina...... whatever.
Ah, the Federal Reserve has given the go-ahead for China to buy an American bank. No mention on MSNBC, of course.
Justice in Communist country? you need to take you med NOW.
JPinMN - And the book! It takes it one step further; the planet Earth is next scheduled for destruction, to make room for a galactic highway.
They don't have to worry about a home anymore. If you are dead you can't fight dictators and they win.
one down........ so what..... a billion more still to go.... life goes on in the land where dirt is worth more than people.
I think that here we call it eminent domain and it happens all the time. This is exactly what happens when governments run everything. We are not that far behind.
Guess she showed them...
I must admit. You have some nice shoes.
Sweeeeet, huh! I actually and unfortunately left that pair at the door at a function and someone took them! I have a similar pair, but not cute as those were!
" The witness said the women had been asked to agree to being relocated from her current house."
We know China. China does not ask.
they did, they asked her to agree, i wish i could ask my boss to agree to give me a raise.... lol... give me a break.... they ORDERED them, there is no asking involved. stop playing with words and call it what it is. China is just north korea with much much bigger land.
I didnt know Wells Fargo had branches in China.
People are dying all over from oppression. It happens here too- but we don't hear much about our foreclosure suicides, job loss suicides, or the hundreds of exposure deaths among the homeless every winter...media here is owned by the rich- Limbaugh's lies about "liberal media" notwithstanding. Suicides make the powers that be look bad- and that just won't do. Murders...now, that's literally a different story. Murder sell commercials, and reduce sympathy for the "lower classes"- so, hey, lotsa stories on THAT topic....
People are forced from their homes all the time in the US. They call it eminent domain. It is supposed to be for the "betterment" of the town, state, etc. But more often than not it is to line the pockets of a very few people.
In the US now there is a big push on for the oil pipeline to TX. They will be/already have started the land grab. So, here we have, in the US, the taking of private land to benefit a Canadian oil company. No one has "gone postal" yet, well, not that we know. There have been more than a few law suits filed though.
All governments are corrupt and only care for their citizens as pawns and workers to fill the coffers of the state. No more, no less. Democratic or Communist, it makes no difference.
