WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon will seek to provide Israel with an additional $70 million in the coming months for its short-range rocket shield, known as the "Iron Dome," Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said after a meeting with his Israeli counterpart on Thursday.
So far, the United States has provided $205 million to support the Iron Dome, manufactured by Israel's state-owned Raphael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. The system uses small radar-guided missiles to blow up in midair Katyusha-style rockets with ranges of 3 miles to 45 miles, as well as mortar bombs.
But top Republicans have criticized President Barack Obama for what they described as inadequate funding of U.S.-Israeli missile defense cooperation in his 2013 budget request released in February amid deficit-reduction requirements.
Legislation moving through the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives would give Israel additional $680 million for the Iron Dome system through 2015, and some House lawmakers are seeking a deal with Israel to share production of the Iron Dome system with U.S. weapons manufacturers.
Obama's fiscal 2013 budget request calls for $3.1 billion in security assistance to Israel, part of a 10-year, $30 billion U.S. commitment, none of which was scheduled to fund Iron Dome.

On Thursday, Panetta said the Pentagon would seek additional funding for the Iron Dome program over the next three years "based on an annual assessment of Israeli security requirements."
"My goal is to ensure Israel has the funding it needs each year to produce these batteries that can protect its citizens," Panetta said.

He said the $70 million would be provided this fiscal year, which ends in September.
"This is assistance that, provided Congress concurs, we can move quickly, to ensure no shortage in this important system," Panetta said in a statement after meeting Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak at the Pentagon.
'Unbreakable bonds'
The Jerusalem Post quoted Barak as saying that Israeli-U.S. defense ties had never been as strong as they were today under the Obama administration.
"The U.S. decision to support further enhancing Israel's security is an important demonstration of the unbreakable bonds between the United States and Israel," Barak added.
The pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC welcomed Panetta's decision, saying it would help Israel better protect its citizens against some 60,000 missiles and rockets amassed at its borders by Hamas and Hezbollah Islamist militants.
As of April, Israel had deployed three operating units of the system, which helped thwart Palestinian rocket salvos during a flare-up in fighting around the Gaza Strip in March. It has spoken of needing a total of 13 or 14 units to protect various fronts.
The system intercepted more than 80 percent of the targets it engaged in March when nearly 300 rockets and mortars were fired at southern Israel, saving many lives, a U.S. Defense Department spokesman said on March 27.

Remind me, why do we care about Israel? Entangling alliances with Israel get the USA nowhere but poorer. The Israelis can pay for their own defensive systems, or they can pass around the collection plate in NYC's financial and diamond district -- funding defense the same way they funded the planting of trees. Or Israel can take getting along with its Arab and Persian neighbors seriously and do whatever it takes as statesmen to make for a lasting peace. However in the final analysis it all has nothing to do with the USA and so Panetta should stop being so generous with tax dollars for self-serving interests.
Since 1948 when the U.N recoginized Israel as the homeland for the Jews who wanted to go there, the U.S has been a staunch ally of Israel. If the Arabs had accepted their own country through partition ,all this trouble could have been avoided. But instead they set out to destroy a sovereign country and put another one on top of it.Most Americans support Israel and rightly so.As for Israels neighbors.too many of them are Islamic terrorists led by Iran and their agents of hamas and hezbollah..The U...S is doing the right thing!!
@Bart: "The US is doing the right thing". Perhaps so but, why does the US taxpayer have to pay for it?
This is not our tax money. It probably is a loan from China. We can always act like Greece refusing to pay our debt and watching the world go down with us.
I'm sure Israel's own military can handle the situation. Thirty billion is an awefully huge amount of money, especially for a system that's 80% effecient. I can think of a lot more constructive uses for those U.S. funds.... like repairing the U.S. infrastructure like Obama promised but never carried out.
Gotta love Republicans wanting to spend more on defense while cutting funding for health care, raising taxes on the poor, cutting taxes for the rich.
Leon Panetta seeks another $70M for Israel's 'Iron Dome' rocket shield and I would like $320,000 to pay off my mortgage, just a one time deal and by the way, I'm an American.
We cant fund Mark Twain's library (now closed), Social Security (which we paid into) and medicare (same), but the government can give away OUR tax dollars to some other country... I couldn't give a rats A$$ about Israel and I would rather have my money wasted here in the US on a bridge to nowhere, at least some people would have jobs for a while!
More debt put on the backs of us and our children! Slavery isn't a thing of the past it exists right now.
Slavery through debt! ALL TO BUILD WAR WEAPONS!!!!! This world makes me sick sometimes.
This is typical of American politics. We are owned by the Jews and this is something that will never change. We saved them from extinction in WW2, yet we continue to pay them some $4 Billion a year, plus weapons, and NOW our government is asking for more? Why not, hell, add another 0 and make it $700,000,000. Talking bad about Israel or even suggesting Israel fend for themselves is anti-semitic.
How about spending that $70 Million in America, where it might actually do some good for America. But thats counter to every politicians ideals. America is NOT any politicians priority. When it is, one side or the other blasts them as anti-America and "soft of terror," etc. Most of the GOP and a half of the Dems care more about the world than they do America. The GOP are slashing everything to funnel that money to defend Israel in WW3 if Willard "I don't recall that" Romney is elected.
Well, actually, Frees, when you say that "We are owned by the Jews"...well, yeah, it does make you sound rather anti-semitic.
We're owned by our government now. At one time it was the opposite.
I waiting for that silly national debt counter that Romney is hauling around with him to jump by $70 million when this thing gets approved.
Why are Republicans strict fiscal conservatives unless it comes to building war toys...even war toys for other countries? Then the bank never closes.
I guess "supporting" Israel actually means financially supporting them. I wish the politicians this country cared about the American people. Shouldn't we be worried about our own problems? The amount we are "giving" them is a whole lot of money, how about some easily obtainable low interest small business loans? Health care? Housing?... Seems better than just wasting it on people the average American could care less about. Israeli defences should be close to the bottom of or list of things to pay for. Lets quit giving the American dream to non-Americans. All we have left is the American nightmare.
Because the core of both parties are not for the American people's best interest.
Why do we care about any Muslim country on Earth? Why do we care about South Korea? Why are we allies with Germany and Japan? Why do we pay the World Bank? Why do we support NATO? We support Israel solely because they're a hedge against losing access to oil. Israel has been trying to make peace with her Arab neighbors since her inception and not once in history has any of the combatants proposed anything reasonable. Peace isn't a possibility so we pay off Israel to sit there and take crap from our mutual enemies so a war doesn't impair access to oil, kill our economy and cause social strife here. One thing certain is that supporters of terrorism by Islamic states always complain about support for Israel, a nation of 6 million opposed by 2 billion Muslims. Nice that we even up the odds. a bit imo.
Thanks, Jeff. You made me do a spit take at this: "Israel has been trying to make peace with her Arab neighbors since her inception" Now I have to clean all the coffee off my desk.
The objective is to provide Israel with weapons. Why send money? We could at least build the weapons here and ship them to Israel. Doesn't that meet the objective - and - help the US economy, too?
Why is our defense department against American workers? Don't civilians matter? Why are Republicans - the champion of 'job creators' - trying to avoid creating jobs?
How can this a$$hole ask for more money for Israel when at the same time we have record number of people on food stamps, welfare, unemployed, no health insurance, and not to mention WE ARE FU..ING BROKE.
Just say no.

O Madame Guillotine, Madame Guillotine, wherefore art thou, Madame Guillotine? We need you... Although considering the bodily fluids issue, we'll probably have to settle for decorating lamp posts here at home and in London but drones and Hellfires will be perfectly appropriate for the Tel Aviv zionists. Go ahead and keep believing and supporting these psychopaths, my Jewish brothers and sisters, and they will give you what they gave you in Germany, betrayal and death. The Rockefellers, Kochs (kotches), et al (et ALL) will be the frosting on the cake...
Speaking of Ron Paul, he is fundamentally wrong about The Constitution. The Constitution constructs a two level system of the People and their appointed (elected) organizational structure, the government. The Constitution depends on the civil morality (religious morality is a lie) of the People. We now have reverted to the more primitive three level system of aristocracy, purchased government which has become buffer, protector, and collector for the 'aristocratic' parasite, and The Herd which is parasitized and controlled by this psychopathic, now, hereditary aristocracy. The Constitution is abrogated by the existence of this psychopathic elite. Such an elite does not exist, is not recognised, in The Constitution but is a stark reality in contemporary America. The Constitution has no power over such psychopathy. Until we utterly destroy these parasites, The Constitution is abrogated and exists only as a chain upon the People. If we are to 'restore' The Constitutional government of these United States, we must do a thorough and complete elitectomy or we will sink ever deeper into economic and political slavery. They and their ilk are not only OUR enemy, but the enemy of all Mankind. It is from them and only from them comes War and the destruction of Civilization.
Frees, I do agree with you on some points. But after paying $ 4.55 at the pump for regular gas, I think we are more owned by the Arabs. I would like to know why in Iraq, gas is 0.69 cents a gallon and they don't refine oil into gas in Iraq. Oil is shipped to another country, refined into gasoline and shipped back to Iraq. Now if oil companies can make a profit on .069 cents a gallon in Iraq, how come gas costs so much here in the USA, where BTW, we have our own oil and gas refineries? Will someone please explain this to me, uh, like I am a seventh grader?
Whole lotta protesting about paying for Israel's defense. Not too much explanation about exactly why it happens.
The reason is rooted in the way we elect our national government. In our "winner take all" system of election, single issue voters like the Israeli block can swing elections, but can seldom elect by themselves. So we end up with candidates who are reasonable on some issues but extreme on a few others that are critical to being elected. In "proportional representation" systems of election, the extreme blocks like the Israeli lobby will always be heard, but can't exercise enough power to force issues like this.
Congratulations, Mr. Bjornson...you have managed to shock me, with your call for the mass lynching of Jews. Which, by the way, would not include the Koch Brothers of Kansas. I really think that, under the MSNBC guidelines, your comment should be collapsed...but it may be better to leave it there, to show the kind of vicious and even murderous venom that the Jews are still up against.
Jews who decide to be AMERICANS are among our most valuable citizens. But those who think first of that ridiculous little non-country between Lebanon and Egypt should go there. America first, last and all the time. Let "Israel" disappear from history. Would it be missed?
Well, Fra, then I assume that the same goes for Ireland...and that Irish-Americans cannot be loyal to America and Ireland at the same time. You had better not say that, though...especially in a pub on St. Patrick's Day.
Yes America is broke because of the State of Israel. Makes ecomomic sense to me. US provides Israel with $3 billion in military aid and Israel in turn purchases most of their military equipment from US companies, which I'm sure is in the billions.
The United States is Israel's largest trading partner; two-way trade totaled some $24.5 billion in 2010, up from $12.7 billion in 1997. The principal U.S. exports to Israel include computers, integrated circuits, aircraft parts and other defense equipment, wheat, and automobiles. Israel's chief exports to the U.S. include cut diamonds, jewelry, integrated circuits, printing machinery, and telecommunications equipment. The two countries signed a free trade agreement (FTA) in 1985 that progressively eliminated tariffs on most goods traded between the two countries over the following ten years.
Homeland security
At the federal, state and local levels there is close Israeli–American cooperation on Homeland Security. Israel was one of the first countries to cooperate with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in developing initiatives to enhance homeland security. In this framework, there are many areas of partnership, including preparedness and protection of travel and trade. American and Israeli law enforcement officers and Homeland Security officials regularly meet in both countries to study counter-terrorism techniques and new ideas regarding intelligence gathering and threat prevention.
In December 2005, the United States and Israel signed an agreement to begin a joint effort to detect the smuggling of nuclear and other radioactive material by installing special equipment in Haifa, Israel's busiest seaport. This effort is part of a nonproliferation program of the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration that works with foreign partners to detect, deter, and interdict illicit trafficking in nuclear and other radioactive materials.
Military bases
The United States maintains six war reserve stocks inside Israel, and maintains some $300 million in military equipment at these sites. The equipment is owned by the United States and is for use by American forces in the Middle East, but can also be transferred to Israeli use during a time of crisis. The United States is also alleged to keep fighter and bomber aircraft at these sites, and one of the bases is thought to contain a 500-bed hospital for U.S. Marines and Special Forces.[84][8
The economy of Israel is a technologically advanced market economy,[6] including rapidly-developing high-tech and service sectors. As of 2010, Israel has the 24th largest economy in the world,[7] and ranks 17th among 187 world nations on the UN's Human Development Index, which places it in the category of "Very Highly Developed".
The major industrial sectors include metal products, electronic and biomedical equipment, processed foods, chemicals, and transport equipment. Israel diamond industry is one of the world's centers for diamond cutting and polishing.
Israel is a world leader in software, telecommunication and semiconductors development.
Israel is also a major tourist destination, with 3.45 million foreign tourists visiting in 2010.
It has the second-largest number of startup companies in the world (after the United States)[262] and the largest number of NASDAQ-listed companies outside North America.[263]
Israel is a leading country in the development of solar energy.[267][268] Israel is a global leader in water conservation and geothermal energy,[269] and its development of cutting-edge technologies in software, communications and the life sciences have evoked comparisons with Silicon Valley.[270][271] According to the OECD, Israel is also ranked 1st in the world in expenditure on Research and Development (R&D) as a percentage of GDP.[272] Intel[273] and Microsoft[274] built their first overseas research and development centers in Israel, and other high-tech multi-national corporations, such as IBM, Cisco Systems, and Motorola, have opened facilities in the country. In July 2007, U.S. billionaire Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway bought an Israeli company Iscar, its first non-U.S. acquisition, for $4 billion.[275
Israel has embraced solar energy, its engineers are on the cutting edge of solar energy technology[268] and its solar companies work on projects around the world.[267][296] Over 90% of Israeli homes use solar energy for hot water, the highest per capita in the world.[152][297] According to government figures, the country saves 8% of its electricity consumption per year because of its solar energy use in heating.[298] The high annual incident solar irradiance at its geographic latitude creates ideal conditions for what is an internationally renowned solar research and development industry in the Negev Desert.[267][268][296]
Israel is one of the world's technological leaders in water technology.

Granite, you are right. It is all about politics and getting votes in an up coming election. Both parties are guilty. We need a government that puts the interests of its tax paying citizens first when it spends their tax dollars and does not favor foreign interests.
So Late Kate, if Israel is such a leader, why don't they support themselves. American aid to Israel amounts to more than $500.00 for each man woman and child in Israel, each and every year. Israelis do not pay taxes to the USA. They do not assist the USA in wars, which Zionists plan and start. We are presently in Afghanistan, making it safe for Israel to run a gas pipleine from Turkmenistan to India, which will net Israel trillions. Meanwhile our soldiers are getting killed and maimed for Israel's gas pipeline, called the TAPI pipeline.
On December 11, a preliminary agreement was signed in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, by
representatives of the four countries to proceed with plans for the American
and Israeli-backed pipeline. Here are the basic points about the TAPI pipeline:
Construction of pipeline will be completed by 2014 (â–¼)
1,680 kilometer gas pipeline will supply 3.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day (much of
this gas will come from Israeli/Mossad-owned gas fields in Turkmenistan,
meaning immense profits for the Mossadniks who pulled of 9/11)............â–ºThe Obama
administration, elected on the promise to withdraw U.S. troops by July 2011,
now says the U.S. will maintain combat troops in Afghanistan until December
2014. On December 17, the House passed a defense authorization bill (by a
341-48 vote) that authorizes the Pentagon to spend more than $160 billion on
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2011 without major restrictions on the
conduct of operations. Why are U.S. (and NATO) troops being kept in Afghanistan
for another 4 years? What's really going on there? What is the cost and who is
involved in this game??
The real
reason for the U.S. invasion and occupation of Afghanistan is to build and
secure a 1,080-mile long gas pipeline designed to carry trillions of dollars of
Israeli-owned gas from Turkmenistan to Pakistan and India. You could ask how
come Turkmenistans gas could be Israeli-owned, here is the answer:
Following the
break-up of the Soviet Union, Israeli agents sought to gain control of the
strategic assets of the newly independent Soviet republics. In mineral-rich
Turkmenistan, a Mossad agent named Yosef A. Maiman was very successful in
gaining control of the republic's immense resources of natural gas. Yosef
Maiman, born in Germany in 1946, grew up in Peru and studied in the United
States before becoming an Israeli citizen in 1971. As an agent of Israeli
intelligence, Maiman heads a network of Mossad-controlled companies that serve
Israeli interests. As the chief executive of the Merhav Group, Maiman has
controlled the development of Turmenistan's gas resources. Maiman's key
colleagues at Merhav are the former head of the Mossad, Shabtai Shavit, and
Nimrod Novik, chief adviser to Shimon Peres, the current president of Israel.
Maiman was described
as "a leading miner" of Central Asian gas fields by the Jerusalem
Post in 2004. Given their control of the immense gas resources of Turkmenistan,
Maiman, Merhav, and the "Mossad" would all profit if and when the
U.S.-led coalition were able to "pacify" and control Afghanistan so
that the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline could be
built allowing the gas of Turkmenistan to be sold to energy-hungry India . The TAPI pipeline
project would bring billions of dollars into "Mossad" coffers every
year. This is the real reason for the war in Afghanistan and why the
Zionist-controlled Obama administration has increased the war effort in Central
Asia. It has nothing to do with terrorism or 9-11.
Now you
can easily understand why there was need for the "justification" of
this war, which was planned before the 9/11
(http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/1550366.stm). The false-flag terror
attacks of 9/11 were part of a strategic Israeli operation to bring the U.S.
military into Afghanistan on a long-term mission on behalf of Israel’s Turkmen
gas enterprise. The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline is
the real reason that U.S. soldiers are killing and dying in the southwestern
Afghan provinces of Helmand and Kandahar. 9/11 was just the cover story for
this pre-planned war of aggression - and it is nothing but a complete hoax.
That money Israel spends in the US, would be much better spent on our crumbling infra structure , instead of producing weapons systems for Israel. Israel is a parasitic cancer on America.
Ralph ..and you are an annoying flea always messing up newsvine with your 5 cliches about Israel.Really most people suspect you are a hezbollah plant sapping and draining the life out of newsvine., a virus..a parasite ,plague and cancer running loose on the net ....The only cancer in America is people like you ..As for Israel being bothered by the likes of you. They have bigger problems to face. They will gladly accept U.S aid and just give you a wave of the hand ...a flea in their ear is quite easy for them to manage
RalphHell stop lying you windbag.
Why aren't the wealthy fans of Israel personally paying for their aid and defense, instead of putting the debt on the back of every American. Catholics don't expect non-Catholics to fund the Vatican. If the DC politicians don't have the guts to stand up for Americans, then give we the people the right to require a mandatory national referendum on such issues.
Isreal has been given enough..how can American continue to give and give when we are having the worse financial times in my lifetime.....I simply don't understand..how do we explain this to all those here, without jobs, returning military coming home not able to get jobs..I am not anti-Israel, but I am beginning to turn, and question why they appear to be more important than those in need right here...
Israel does what it feels needed to continue the growth of its country, yet any difference in the opinion of the American people, toward Israel is considered being against that country..
I wish there was a way to have every penny of mine, even to a half cent returned to Me...I care about this counyty, our people, not that country..
What is wrong with our leadership, there are thoughts in the minds of those running for office to cut the services, of many right here, please explain why...Are the israelies more important than our own people, Israel is Not a true friend of America...
How can you continue to respect a country that we are willing to put ahead of our own people.
Sorry, but I am not in agreement with any further aid to a country that care only for the continued expansion of its self...at our expense..
The money must be spent in America, where it will be used to pay American workers.
I don't hate Israel or any humans really but in the bible it says they will move there near the end times so they are moving there to expect end times and to start what they think is their prophecy. Then they want to build up a bubble of anti defense to stop the end times and to put the prophecy on hold. so which is it do you want prophecy or not? If you believe the end of the world is going to happen in Jerusalem then why are you moving there and why do you want me and my people here in the USA to give you money to protect you from your own actions? seems counter productive to what you believe in. I mean after all if the worlds end is going to start in Jerusalem do you think Iron dome is going to stop it? I don't think so.
Give the money to the states, where it will be spent improving our country and employ American workers. Israelis a country inhabited by parasites and thieves, who bribe and extort favors from our politicians. It is beyond comprehension, how these politicians can bestow this money on a foreign country without being under some sort of criminal influence.
Those who understand and read these articles must inform their friends what is going on and start a movement to stop all aid to Israel. Too many Americans have their heads in the sand and fail to realize how our corrupt politician are giving away the store. The insanity must stop.
The way to end all of this Israeli welfare at the expense of needy Americans is to not vote for any politician Democrat, Republican, or Independent who has aid for Israel as a plank in their campaigns. They should be concentrating on the welfare of the American people not a bunch of desert nazis who like to kill or condemn anyone who isn't like them. Time for the AIPAC lobby to start looking out for the USA and not Israel. If not then it's time for them to leave these shores and take up their full residence in Israel. We have enough traitors already in this country.
Simply ridiculous!!!!!!! Why not make a loan to Israel instead of just handing our tax dollars over to them? We are giving an Israeli company money to build weapons instead of reducing our debt or, god forbid, spend it on helping Americans who need assistance.
Both parties can suck my left nutsicle.
Enough already! The US needs to stop wasting our money on Israel's military machine and use that money here at home fixing our broken infrastructure, health-care and educational systems. Wake up America!
Republicans don't want to fix broken infrastructure, health care, or education. Enough said.
A constitutional republican believes education can only succeed through privatization (ie look at no child left behind and how entire school systems were cheating!). Health care should be privatized and insurance companies should cease to exist (the cost of health care would plummet and then maybe people would care about their bodies and what they ate if they didn't want to pay extra money out of their pockets). Most government agencies do not need to exist, YOU ARE JUST MADE TO THINK THEY NEED TO EXIST.
Democrats/Republicans don't want to fix broken infrastructure, health care, or education. Enough said.
Except right now dems ARE trying to fix broken infrastructure, healthcare and education. Republicans are trying NOT to and obstructing. Stop with the false equivalencies.
We spend trillions to protect us and muslims from themselves in more than one country.....
Just sayin'
We get to reap the tech benefits that Israel shares with us.
I just can't seem to recall a technical invention that a non-American Israeli has provided to the US exclusively. Must of happened while I was in my 20 year coma.
Just want to say "Fire up the presses Ben, time to print another $70M of worthless paper money." And while your at it don't forget the $100 billion of risky investments by you know who. Just keep those presses running day and night. Chop down some more trees if you run low on paper. Fire up those coal burning electrical producers to power those presses. Frack some more land and poison the waters so we can have an abundance of something nobody wants. Who gives a @!$%# about their own citizens when you can look like a savior to the rest of the world.
Derek exactly the 3000 year old secret is basically if we got rid of all the so called govt of the world the people in the world would elevate to a point never seen throughout our entire history that we cant even fathom it. The crazy thing is 99% of the population already lives by the 3000 year old secret.(proven everytime a natural disaster happens how quickly avg people come to the aid of strangers and how we can live in cities without the full population living in absolute chaos) The only ones that dont seem to be are in the govts of the world or in power positions. But without the crooked theiving systems then they wouldnt be able to get away with their war crimes acts of mass murdering against innocent human beings and the raping of the wealth from the working men women and children.
Republicans can't seem to make up their minds. The U.S. deficit is a serious problem. The Republican solution? Give more money to Israel. Anyone know if Israel even has a deficit? If not, why are we still sending that country millions of dollars every year?
Since when is Panetta or the white house in any way republican?
Bruce can answer for himself, but this is from the article above: "But top Republicans have criticized President Barack Obama for what they described as inadequate funding of U.S.-Israeli missile defense cooperation in his 2013 budget request released in February amid deficit-reduction requirements."
Leon Panetta works for Obama not the Republicans. You post here yet you don't even know who the players are. No wonder you need welfare.
Hey Jeff, read the article before you rant:
I read the article dumbalina and the comments under it accusing Panetta of being a Republican. hats what I responded to. The Federal Government spends 7 million dollars a minute; 420 million dollars an hour and I am not going to bitch about our using Israel to test weapons we need for our own defense against real live fire because it's a huge benefit to us and keeping Israel safe with conventional weapons prevents a nuclear war and the resulting fallout making oil unavailable. Not being a Progressive I don't hate Jews so I have no bigoted animosity towards Israel.
Millions? We send them billions year after year. We give tax breaks on donations to Israel from wealthy Jews. We forgive loans made to Israel. We guaratee other loans to Israel, so they can borrow money at low interest rates and Americans foot the difference. We give surplus military equipment to Israel. If it isn't surplus, Israel's AIPAC representatives, have it declared surplus, so that Israel can have the latest and the greatest military hardware in the world.
We fought the war in Iraq, planned and sold by Zionists and Israel, which will cost the US more than 3 trillion dollars. Enough is enough. Stop.
Stop all aid to Israel. Phone your Congressmen and women. Do not donate to any candidate that supports aid to Israel.
F Israel's "Iron Dome". If they are ever attacked, which in all likelyhood would be a counterattack, I hope it fails miserably.
We spend trillions to protect us and muslims from themselves in more than one country.....

We get to reap the tech benefits that Israel shares with us.
Ralph H is here again, along with Malocchio and von Dorf. But alas! Ralph has not yet favored us once again with his statement that the Jews killed Jesus. Never mind, though: another Jew-baiting bigot said it for him.
But the Israeli Jews killed 34 US sailors on the USS Liberty on 8 June 1967. Never forget that. We should not be sending them one dime.
Uh .oh ..here we go again with that famous Liberty.boat. Tell us again how the Israelis boarded the ship and in one to one combat killed 34 Americans.Yes they deliberately killed 34 Americans. What craziness is this "Remember the Liberty" ? Most people have forgotten it.It was an accident at a time of war.The U.S kills hundreds of people by friendly fire,as do all militaries.Israel is the ally of the U.S These deaths wer unfortunate just asm all friendly fire deaths are.. I suggest we start a "Remember GTR5" The 5 is for the 5 cliches that GTR and others keep repeating on and on....
Friendly fire my a$$. It was a deliberate false flag attack, covered up by the stinging Zionist, Lyndon Johnson.
There is a timeline at the website which was set up to honor the American victims of the Isareli
and U.S. Military. Most of it follows.
June 8,
1967, Israeli forces attack the USS Liberty. They kill 34 American servicemen,
wounding 171 others. It will be the highest casualty rate ever inflicted on a
U.S. naval vessel, with 7 out of every 10 crew members killed or injured. It
will also be the only peacetime attack on a U.S. naval vessel that, to this
day, the Congress of the United States of America formally refuses to
investigate.
2 June 1967. Liberty
departs Rota at top speed of 18 knots en route to a point 13 miles off the Gaza
Strip, well within international waters.
5 June 1967, 7:45
(all times cited are local Liberty time). Israel attacks Egypt, simultaneously
putting out false reports that Egypt had attacked first. Captain McGonagle asks
Vice Admiral William Martin at Sixth Fleet headquarters to send a destroyer as
an armed escort and auxiliary communication center, noting that Liberty's
"self defense capability limited to four .50 caliber machine guns and
small arms."
6 June
1967. Admiral Martin replies "Liberty is clearly marked United States ship
in international waters, not a participant in the conflict and not a reasonable
subject for attack by any nation . . . Request for escort denied."
7 June
1967, shortly before midnight. Office of the U.S. Defense Attaché in Tel Aviv
sends coded message to U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) that Israel intends
to attack the Liberty if her course is not changed.
8 June 1967:
1000: Two unmarked,
rocket-armed, delta-winged jets circle Liberty three times. Liberty officers
can count rockets and see the pilots, but see no identifying marks on the
plane. The jets radio Israeli headquarters that the ship is flying an American
flag.
1030: Israeli "flying boxcar" with Israeli markings circles
Liberty at about 200 feet. Crew member Larry Weaver says, "I was actually
able to wave to the co-pilot, a fellow on the right-hand side of the plane. He
waved back, and actually smiled at me."
1055: Pinchas Pinchasy, naval liaison officer at Israeli air force
headquarters, reports to Naval Headquarters that the ship cruising slowly off
El Arish is "an electromagnetic audio-surveillance ship of the U.S. Navy,
named Liberty, whose marking was GTR-5."
1100 & 1130: Israeli reconnaissance aircraft again circle Liberty.
1205: Three Israeli motor torpedo boats leave Ashdod at high speed headed
toward Liberty. They are followed by Israeli air force fighters, loaded with
30mm cannon ammunition, rockets, and napalm.
1215 & 1245: Israeli reconnaissance aircraft again circle Liberty.
1341: Israeli torpedo boats spot Liberty and call for an immediate air strike.
1358: Two unmarked delta-winged Mirage jets attack Liberty. After taking out
gun mounts, they target ship's antennae and bridge with heat-seeking missiles.
1405: Three unmarked Dassault Mystère IIIC jets attack with napalm and
rockets. Ship tries to contact Sixth Fleet headquarters, but five of Liberty's
six shore circuits are jammed. Radio operator manages to send distress signal
from Captain McGonagle: "Under attack by unidentified jet aircraft,
require immediate assistance." Attack lasts approximately 22 minutes,
involving 30 to 35 sorties, killing nine men and wounding around 60. Israeli
pilot reports to base: "Great, wonderful, she's burning, she's
burning."
1409: Captain Joe Tully of the USS Saratoga acknowledges call for help,
dispatches four F-4 Phantom jets, and informs Liberty that help is on the way.
Within minutes U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert MacNamara orders rescue jets to
return: : "Tell Sixth Fleet to get those aircraft back
immediately." Rear Admiral Geis relays message and tells them to re-launch
jets in 90 minutes.
1424: Three French-built 62-ton Israeli motor torpedo boats approach Liberty in
attack formation. Because the Israeli fighters had destroyed the American flag,
Captain McGonagle orders the signalman to hoist the "holiday ensign,"
the largest flag the ship has.
1435: Torpedo boats launch five German-made 19-inch torpedoes at Liberty.
One torpedo strikes starboard directly into NSA area, accounting for 25 of the
34 men who would be killed. Torpedo boats then circle, machine-gunning the ship
with armor-piercing projectiles for another 40 minutes.
1450: Commander of Sixth Fleet orders carriers USS America and USS Saratoga to
send aircraft to defend Liberty.
1500: NSA Sigint Command Center receives first notice of the attack from either
the America or Saratoga: "USS Liberty has been reportedly torpedoed by
unknown source in Med near 32N 33E. Request examine all communications for
possible reaction/reflections and report accordingly."
1505: Message sent to Liberty from Sixth Fleet: "Sending aircraft to cover
you. Surface units on the way." Liberty is off the air and does not
receive the message.
1511: First "official" notice that Liberty is under attack reaches
National Military Command Center in Washington.
1515: After the order to "prepare to abandon ship" comes over the
loudspeaker system, the lifeboats are lowered into the water. Israeli torpedo
boats move in closer and fire on them, as well as those still on deck, making
them all unusable. "I watched with horror as the floating life rafts were
riddled with holes," recalled Lieutenant Lloyd Painter, in charge of the
evacuation. Said Petty Officer Rowley, who also witnessed the event: "They
didn't want anyone to live." After destroying the life rafts, the Israeli
boats departed. Next, two Israeli SA-321 Super Frelon Hornet assault
helicopters carrying soldiers in battle dress circle ship several times, then
depart.
1520: Commander of Sixth Fleet announces that 12 aircraft will be launched at
1545 to arrive near Liberty at 1715.
1532: Walt Rostow, President Johnson's Special Assistant for National Security
Affairs, notifies the president of the attack.
1536: Israeli torpedo boats return, then leave.
1545: USS Saragota and America launch second rescue flights.
1555: Liberty regains its transmitter; still has no receiver.
1600: Liberty transmits: "Flash, flash, flash. I pass in the blind. We
are under attack by aircraft and high-speed surface craft." Deputy
Director Louis Tordella is informed by Deputy Director of Joint Reconnaissance
Center, Captain Vineyard, that "consideration was then being given by some
unnamed Washington authorities to sink the Liberty in order that newspaper men
would be unable to photograph her and thus inflame public opinion against the
Israelis." Tordella makes an "impolite" comment about the idea,
writes a memo of the conversation for the record, and stores it away.
1605: Liberty transmits: "Request immediate assistance. Torpedo hit
starboard side."
1614: American embassy relays Israeli apology to White House, Department of
State, and Sixth Fleet that an unidentified "maybe Navy" ship has
been erroneously attacked.
1615: Two unidentified jets approach Liberty, then veer off.
1630: Israeli jets and three torpedo boats return, offer assistance. Captain
McGonagle refuses their help. Boats leave after 12 minutes.
1639: Secretary of Defense McNamara again orders rescue planes recalled;
order is confirmed by President Johnson because "we are not going to
embarrass an ally." Naval Air Attaché at U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv,
Commander Ernest Castle, is summoned to Israeli Defense Forces headquarters.
1717: Deputy Secretary of Defense orders that all news releases on attack are
to be made in Washington. Soon after, Israeli helicopter approaches Liberty and
requests permission to land. McGonagle refuses. Helicopter departs.
1729: Rear Admiral Lawrence Geis, commander of the Sixth Fleet in the
Mediterranean, protests decision to recall rescue planes to Secretary of
Defense McNamara. At that point President Johnson comes on the phone and says
he didn't care if the ship sunk, he would not embarrass his allies. Admiral Geis
tells Lt. Commander David Lewis, head of the Liberty's NSA group, of the
remark, but asks him not to repeat it until after he dies. It is a promise
Lewis will honor.
1915: Captain McGonagle, wounded and exhausted, dictates first report on
estimated casualties: 10 dead; 15 severely wounded; 75 total wounded;
undetermined missing. His estimates would prove low.
9 June 1967:
After midnight: Soviet guided missile
destroyer sends flashing-light message in English: "Do you need
help?" Liberty responds: "No thank you." Soviets answer: "I
will stand by in case you need me."
0600: USS Navy destroyers Davis and Massey
arrive.
Mid-morning: Dead and wounded are evacuated by helicopter.
1450: Israeli Lt. Col. Michael Bloch telephones Commander Castle that Liberty, because
it was not flying a flag, had been mistaken for the Egyptian supply ship El
Queseir. State Department assures Congress that attack was accidental.
10 June 1967: Vice Admiral McCain orders Rear Admiral Isaac Kidd to convene
Navy Court of Inquiry.
11 June 1967: Admiral Kidd boards Liberty
with small staff to head Navy Court of Inquiry.
14 June 1967: Liberty arrives in Malta. Total
news blackout imposed. Rear Admiral Kidd warns crew: "You are never,
repeat never, to discuss this with anyone, not even your wives. If you do, you
will be court-martialed and will end your lives in prison or worse."
Secretary of Defense McNamara informs media that, "Department of Defense
will have no further comment."
15 June 1967: Secretary of State Dean Rusk
tells NATO ambassadors in Luxembourg that Israel's attack was deliberate. His
remark is reported in European, but not U.S. papers.
18 June 1967: Israeli Court of Inquiry
exonerates Israeli government and all those involved, saying that its torpedo
boats erroneously reported the Liberty's speed at 30 knots instead of 5, and
that the Liberty flew no flag and had no identifying markings. Later, Israel
will honor Motor Torpedo Boat 203, the one that fired the deadly torpedo at the
Liberty, by putting its wheel and bell on display in its naval museum, among
those maritime items of which it is most proud.
July 1967: Shortly after the burial of six
Liberty crewmen in Arlington National Cemetery, a monument is erected
describing the six as having "Died in the Eastern Mediterranean."
Liberty survivors complain that the marking is evasive and improper.
September 1967: State Department legal
adviser Carl Salans finds many discrepancies with the Israeli report. His
report is classified Top Secret.
11 June 1968: Captain McGonagle is awarded
the Congressional Medal of Honor. The Medal, usually presented by the President
of the United States at the White House, is presented by the Secretary of the
Navy during a hastily arranged ceremony at the Washington D.C. Navy Yard.
Admiral Thomas H. Moorer, the Chief of Naval Operations, calls the way the
Medal is presented a back-handed slap. "Everyone else received their medal
at the White House," Moorer will later observe. "President Johnson
must have been concerned about the reaction of the Israeli lobby."
1980: National Security Agency Director
Marshall Carter tells investigative author James Bamford that, regarding the
attack on the Liberty, "There was no other answer than that it was
deliberate."
1981: National Security Agency review,
"Attack on a Sigint Collector, the USS Liberty Incident," rejects the
Israeli Court of Inquiry's "mistake" theory and accuses Israeli
fighter pilots and torpedo boat crewmen and commanders of perjury.
1982: Israeli senior lead pilot approaches
former Congressman Pete McCloskey and admits that he recognized the Liberty as
American immediately, so informed his headquarters, and was told to ignore the
American flag and continue his attack. He said he refused to do so and returned
to base, where he was arrested.
6 October 1982: A new headstone for the six
Liberty crew members at Arlington National Cemetery is unveiled. This one
reads: "Killed USS Liberty June 8, 1967."
1986: Lt. Commander Walter H. Jacobsen writes
in Naval Law Review: "To speculate on the motives of an attack group that
uses unmarked planes and deprives helpless survivors of life rafts raises
disturbing possibilities, including the one that the Liberty crew was not meant
to survive the attack..."
6 November 1991: Columnists Evans and Novak
publish interview with Dwight Porter, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon in 1967, in
which Porter says that during or immediately after the attack on the Liberty
the CIA station chief showed him transcripts of intercepted Israeli messages.
One has Israel ordering the attack on the Liberty, another has an Israeli pilot
replying it's an American ship. When the order to attack is repeated, the pilot
insists he can see the American flag. The pilot is told again: "Attack
it."
8 June 1997: Adm. Thomas H. Moorer, appointed
Chief of Naval Operations shortly after the attack on the Liberty, tells a
reunion of survivors: "I have to conclude that it was Israel's intent to
sink the Liberty and leave as few survivors as possible. Israel knew perfectly
well that the ship was American."
November 1998: Captain McGonagle breaks his
long silence: "After many years I finally believe that the attack was
deliberate. I don't think there has been an adequate investigation of the
incident . . . The flag was flying prior to the attack..." McGonagle will
die four months later, on March 3, 1999.
Thank you Ralph, for your true information, but you are wasting your time....Those that wish to excuse their death as an accident, are also those that refuse to see the truth..Yes, that's what I believe....
Israel is a country concerned only with the continues extension of their land..It is just so sad, that we, through the years, have continued to give them aid.....Here, we are actually been forced to agree, for fear of being called against that country....I am sick of it, sadly there is little that can be done, as there is a Jewish lobby here willing to keep the pressure on our goverement to do the biding of Isreal....
Sorry, my continued support for further aid is finished..
Oh, that's right, I forgot, Lyndon Johnson is Jewish. The same thing was said about FDR. It was a lie both times.
Ralph stop downloading enormous info..too much to read ..Common sense which is worth much more than dubious downloads full of crazy speculations says that Israel would not deliberalely attack an allied ship. Many People also think the Rockfellers those classic Dutch WASPS were Jewish..Those 20 million Jews in the world are gaining more members all the time. All the Jews need is for a billion or so Muslms to come out of the closet and say they too are Jewish...And Christians Hindus and Buddhists.. Wow if everyone in the world is Jewish there will be no more religious conflicts...but then the world might be a little more boring without the absurd conspiracy theories,..But Jesus,Einstein,Marx, Trotsky,Mendelson,Heine,Mahler and on and on. were Jews...must be some conspiracy here...
Thanks RalphH for your information on the Liberty, and no, it is not too much to read. To Bart Martin, the Liberty was a ship not a boat and the Israeli thugs did not board the ship. This was no accident of war or mistake, it was a deliberate criminal attack on a US Navy ship that was in international waters.
Why are there so many automatic double posts on this site?
Double posts? what double posts?
Double posts? what double posts?
waste of money!! those millions could go into job training programs so that those out of work can get trained to do the jobs of today which go unfilled everyday in this country. And if you cant find qualified people in the US you have to go outside the country to fill this need!! stop the war mongering! get along with your neighbors and maybe they will not be out to get you!!
This is too less from military standards. It should be at least $700 and provide nuke shields too!
"Obama's fiscal 2013 budget request calls for $3.1 billion in security assistance to Israel, part of a 10-year, $30 billion U.S. commitment, none of which was scheduled to fund Iron Dome."
Can anyone question these?
If one talks of Medicare and Medicaid then politicians, bankers, economists and think tanks can jump in and scream!!!!!
It is time for the US to pull in our wings and protect our own. Many Countries are driving the United States into the poor house. Let those Countries go to the poor house protecting their own interest.
Israel's advocates are constant in two positions:
1. Israel is a wealthy, successful democracy.
2. We should give more money and support to Israel.
What do we get back? And aren't there some sick or needy in the world that we could give the money to instead of wasting it on additional military funds to a rich country we already give atleast $3.2 billion in weapons to?
It's absurd but you see who Leon Panetta takes his orders from.
And it aint the American people.
You ask what we get back:::: Dead Americans in body bags.and crippled for life Vets.
This is, IMHO, a savvy investment. This is a new system that is being battle tested, probably as I type. It's being developed by a nation that is known for its military prowess. Don't think that we aren't getting the data from this system, as well as our own ideas and models. Per the article, this system is 80% effective against lower tech missiles and MORTARS. As I read it, it appears with sufficient number of systems in place it could protect entire cities, military bases, ports, borders, etc....
This has significant military and civilian defense potential in a variety of situations.
I bet the Russians would love to have this in Chechnya.
The Iron Dome money must be spent in America, to hire American workers, as MSNBC was the last to point out.
I guess you didn't read the article or simply have poor reading comprehension, Cassandra. We want the system to be built in the US. It is presently beoing built in Israel. Here read it again.
So far, the United States has provided $205 million to support the Iron Dome, manufactured by Israel's state-owned Raphael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. The system uses small radar-guided missiles to blow up in midair Katyusha-style rockets with ranges of 3 miles to 45 miles, as well as mortar bombs.
some House lawmakers are seeking a deal with Israel to share production of the Iron Dome system with U.S. weapons manufacturers.
205 million, plus 680 million equals 900 million dollars of US taxpayer money to a country that is just head and shoulders above the rest of the world if you read the bragging replies on the forum from Zionists, such as Late Kate.
RalphHell the US gives Pakistupid and Egypt over $3 billion in military aid and what have they ever given back to American taxpayers, I'll tell you - zero respect, they danced in the street at 9/11 and burn US flags! If Israel is not protected, murdering islamic bastards would kill every man, woman and child there so who really is the cause of all this wasted money. Peace is free you know, costs nothing.
I don't care where it's built as long as I'm not paying for it. And as it stands now I will be paying for it.
I don't want an economy based on perpetual war and trash, and that is exactly what this country has become, a nation and economy based on perpetual war and trash.
"But it will create jobs if we make it in America.", yeah and so will forcing corporations to make their products here instead of overseas. But our so called elected officials won't do that thanks to the politician/corporation revolving door in DC.
The corporations make absurd profits on products that cost a few dollars to make overseas then sold in the US for hundreds and thousands of dollars.
And the weapons companies also make absurd profits making weapons in the US thanks to over priced military contracts.
And who suffers ? The sweat shop workers and the American taxpayer, while the politicians and corporate bosses get rich.
The republicans are opposed to welfare for their own citizens but don't mind lavishing billions on the Israeli's every year
I support Israel, but Israel should PAY ITS OWN BILLS! Don't be a leech!
Agreed. Israel is our ally, not a vassal state that we are obligated to support.
Israel is not an American ally. No Israeli has ever fought along side our American soldiers. The closest they ever got, was when they attacked the USS Liberty and fired at the lifeboats from torpedo boats.
They killed 34 sailors and wounded 172. They attempted to kill ever person on board, but were foiled when they thought help was on the way. It was a false flag attack. If anyone cares to dispute this account, I will post the full timeline of the attack. It was not a mistake it was deliberate and it was covered up by Lyndon Johnson, our Zionist president.
http://lennybendavid.com/2008/05/lyndon-johnsons-historical-connection.html
http://www.jweekly.com/article/full/36262/friend-ally-savior-revealing-lbj-s-jewish-ties/
Research into
Johnson's personal history indicates that he inherited his concern for the
Jewish people from his family. His aunt Jessie Johnson Hatcher, a major
influence on LBJ, was a member of the Zionist Organization of America. As a
young boy, Lyndon watched his politically active grandfather "Big Sam"
and father "Little Sam" seek clemency for Leo Frank, the Jewish
victim of a blood libel in Atlanta. Frank was lynched by a mob in 1915, and the
Ku Klux Klan in Texas threatened to kill the Johnsons. Johnson's speechwriter
later stated, "Johnson often cited Leo Frank's lynching as the source of
his opposition to both anti-Semitism and isolationism."
Lyndon Johnson’s maternal ancestors, the Huffmans, apparently migrated to
Frederick, Maryland from Germany sometime in the mid-eighteenth century. Later
they moved to Bourbon, Kentucky and eventually settled in Texas in the
mid-to-late nineteenth century.10
According to Jewish law, if a person’s mother is
Jewish, then that person is automatically Jewish, regardless of the father’s
ethnicity or religion. The facts indicate that both of Lyndon Johnson’s
great-grandparents, on the maternal side, were Jewish. These were the
grandparents of Lyndon’s mother, Rebecca Baines.11
Their names were John S. Huffman and Mary Elizabeth Perrin.12
John Huffman’s mother was Suzanne Ament, a common Jewish name. Perrin is also a
common Jewish name.
Huffman and Perrin had a daughter, Ruth Ament Huffman,13
who married Joseph Baines14
and together they had a daughter, Rebekah Baines,15
Lyndon Johnson’s mother. The line of Jewish mothers can be traced back three
generations in Lyndon Johnson’s family tree. There is little doubt that he was
Jewish.
In fact, Ralph H, Nancy Reagan had a Jewish father, so why don't you pick on HER?
A vassal state would be sending us money.
We have no business paying for a weapon system that is solely for Israeli use and does nothing for us. That's waste, fraud, and abuse of our tax dollars plain and simple. Israel is one of the most well armed countries in the world as it is. They can foot the bill for this themselves!
Ralph, convenient that you forgot to mention the fact that the Israeli military sent medical supplies and personnel to assist during Hurricane Katrina. Look it up. It's a fact!
Oh, pardon me, Doc. Who gives a crap about some medical supplies that amount to peanuts in this country. We will have spent over 3 trillion dollars on the war the Zionists planned and sold in Iraq. We lost 4500 soldiers and 10s of thousands wounded and you give me Katrina.
Digest these figures from our Pentagon for a moment and then tell me about Katrina. Note: Not one Israeli soldier died in Iraq or any other war in which America has been involved. Note: Israel did provide much of the false intelligence about WMD, prior to the Iraq war. Want quotes from Shlomo Brom, former Israeli general?
Zionist warmongers like Ken Adelman and the Zionist Washington Post pushed the war in
an editorial titled, “Cakewalk in Iraq.” Jewish supremacists Richard Perle and
Paul Wolfowitz told you that Iraq would “Welcome us as liberators.” Iraq became
the longest war in American history. Here is a report from USA Today: “Pentagon
officials estimated for the first time Wednesday that up to 360,000 Iraq and
Afghanistan veterans may have suffered traumatic brain injuries.” Now that’s
not counting tens of thousands who have suffered maiming, amputations, or death
in this war based on lies.
Why don't you try asking the people in New Orleans. Many whose lives were helped saved by those Israelis. Oh, I'm sorry. You can't see past the hatred on the end of your nose can you? You are clueless and pathetic Go sell your hate mongering elsewhere. Most people here ain't buying it!
Hey Ed - Lets have a link to the alleged Israeli help in New Orleans. How many people did the Israeli save? Lets have some proof.
How about a response to the post I made, showing how Zionists sold the war in Iraq? I gave you proof of Zionist involvement in selling the Iraq war and the casualties involved. I am an American and have a right to be angry at the people who planned and sold the war. Are you so blinded by your rabid love for Israel, that you cannot see or acknowledge the damage Zionists caused this country, called America. Paul Wolfowitz is the acknowleged architect of the Iraq war.
Talk about pathetic, you should be posting your picture. You were not a navy doc, you were a corpsman. You should call yourself Ed-navnurse.
Ed - I just looked it up myself. It appears Israel sent some supplies. There was no mention of personnel, such as doctors. Maybe you can document all those lives saved by Israel, but I doubt it. I will watch for your proof.
Ralph, you obviously know little or nothing about Fleet Marine Force Navy Hospital Corpsmen! I never claimed I was a doctor. Corpsmen assigned to Marine units are affectionately known as "Doc", as most of the time they work independently of Navy physicians. Look that up as well!
Ralph, and by the way. I'll post my picture if you will!
Ralph, please use Bing or Google and look up "Hurricane Katrina international aid response statistics". It lists all aid sent by each country doing so, including Israel. Specifically a medical team and about 80 tons of supplies. This particular mission was in fact headed up by the General and doctor that is the head of medical for the Israeli Defense Force himself.
Hell even Hugo Chaves of Venezuela offered aid. So what's your point? As much money as the US has poured into Israel over the years they should've sent over people to clean up the mess that was left behind. The supplies that they sent were no doubt from the US in the first place or were bought with US taxpayer monies. No more taxpayer monies to support the zionists of Israel.
Hate Israel much?
Ed, I see you're here fighting the good fight, shame they didn't read your first missive as clearly as they should have. One of the reasons the Isrealis haven't fought along side of us is that our latest beefs for the last 40 years seem to have been with Arab nations, it would be very "impolitic" of us to ask them to stand with us, seeing as that would piss the Saudis off tremendously, Remember we have never fought on their side either, we have rendered assistance, as they have to us, on many security issues, but we have kept them at arms length on direct military alliance in thef ield for good reasons. The air strike of the Liberty, still pisses me off, but its been quite a few years and they did aplogize.
Steve, very well put. As I have stated in the past, I am not a big fan of Israel but neither am I willing to lay all the world's evils at the foot of Israel and/or Zionism. It's a big world out there and there are some very mean and nasty customers out there who are neither Jewish nor Zionists. The problem with some of the people posting above is that they hate Israel and/or Jews so much that anyone who does not agree with particular points ofview are labelled Jew and/or Israel lovers and Zionists. What they also choose to ignore is that among the younger generation of Israeli's there is growing movement of a viewpoint known as Post Zionism. This basically states that Zionism was a failed movement and/or has outgrown any usefulness. People pf this philosophy just want to live in peace with their neighbors. Unfortunately this does not sit well with the older hardliners in power at the current time, so you don't hear about it very much. But the sentiment and the movement is growing. Look up the term Post Zionist. It makes for some interesting reading and offers a different viewpoint. Have a good day.
Someone, please, explain to me why we are forking over millions of taxpayer dollars to another country when we have so many needs here in our own country? And the Reps. want to give them MORE?!?! Seriously, they been sitting in locked/closed garages with their cars running way too long not enough air is reaching their brains.
This money is needed here in the US It is time to stop being the care taker of the world.
Why the eff do we need to supply one of the most war mongering nations on the planet a missile shield. We cannot take care of our own yet we need to mollycoddle isreal?
the U.S. trade deficit with Israel grows larger every year, and for 2011 exceeded 11 billion dollars! who's being paid off in D.C.? the jewish mafia has a strangle hold on our pocket books. the only way out is to VOTE them out of our congress! wake up TAX PAYER!
You gotta admit that both the name, Iron Dome, and the concept are pretty cool. We pay for it, they implement it, test it, and work out the bugs. Plus maybe it saves a few civilians along the way.
What a messed up place we live in. Why are we screwing our children with more tax debt to protect Israel with an "iron dome"? I think its about time to separate the Jewish country over there from the great tit the united states has become. Its sad that nobody likes them in that part of the word, but why is it our problem?
civilians are always easy to replace!
That's why the Republicans want to eliminate birth control, in any form. More citizens means more soldiers...........
Hell No Israell is a rich country and should provide it's own security. Israel is like the little brat kid in the neighborhood that you have to put up with because of his feared big brother. They need to start living in the reality that we got their back not that we are going to carry them on our backs. This is BS....
Where are the Republicans getting the money to fund this increase in aid that they are asking for Israel? Probably will be asking for a cut in Social Programs!
Dean, republicans support this and wanted MORE. Get real, the only thing republicans don't require cuts for is defense, even if it isn't ours.
Repeat of above!
Our social programs run in the BILLIONS and our debt is in the TRILLIONS as Dean said. These millions will not affect the deficit one way or another, and we are sending millions to other countries too, Egypt included. But when people like Ronald talk about a "Jewish Mafia"...you get the distinct feeling that deficit spending is not really what he dislikes.
There are some who are motivated by anti-sematism. However, for most of us, we are pissed that the money isn't being spent here. Period.
If we give foreign aid it should be to help people get medical care and eat. Not only does this effect the citizenry directly, it build goodwill for us, which reduces overall conflict. Giving weapons to rich countries should not be on the agenda.
Secondly, there are so many good causes than money could go to here. Education, medical services, retraining of vetrans... the list is enormous.
it'e not the people B_____ch, it's the GOVERNMENT!
Ronald, personal insults and obscenities are against the posting guidelines, so you make me wonder where the moderators are.
Why do we have too support other nations? The Jews own everything and we have to pitch into their BS!!!! Let them deal with their security!!! Take care of America first!!! Who else will???
Iron Dome is not the latest and greatest of the Israeli Air Defense systems. The US wants to buy into the system so that Obama can impress the Russians and give them the Israeli technology in his "second" term. The Russians could then give the technology to it's client states so they can defeat it. Yeah, rite.
The US has invested a trillion dollars in the peace and security of the Middle East by "investing" in Iraq nd Afghanistan. How is that working out?
The Israeli system is a "demonstrated technology" and if Iraq, Iran, of Egypt had a similar system, I'm certain that the Obama administration would be more inclined to buy from them, but they don't. Perhaps the Israelis are more movtivated, given the It Islamic rhetoric and the periodic futile attempts to destroy Israel.
More wasted taxpayer dollars - I think Israel can handle its own affairs, and as for their loyalty, it can't be bought. Give Panetta a lookout post , and a handful of rocks- he can throw them at any incoming missiles. As for the "Iron Dome"? We've got a ton of them infesting Congress.
Good service members being sent home early due to RIF(budget constraints), base housing in need of repairs at multiple bases, repairs beng done with duct tape and bubble gum, shoot not even unough money for new flight deck boots for my guys...but man we can blow some cash on other countries..how about we take care of our own Leon..
Agreed. Provide for our soldiers and if there is any left over, squander it on Israel if you like. America first! (no sarcasm).
Why dosent the American Taxpayer have a say as to where their taxes go. This is another fleecing of the American people while our cities here die on the vine and were cutting social programs and the like for war -why do we have to kick in all the time--vote those out who would send our tax dollars to another country--we are going broke but we still have $$ for war--I dont get it and the American People deserve better than this.
You did when you voted. And yes we do deserve better. Tell them that in November.
