Luka Rocco Magnotta is wanted by police in connection with a murder in Montreal, Canada which involved the discovery of part of a body in Montreal but other parts of the body mailed to political party offices in Ottawa, Canada.
A bisexual porn actor and stripper is being hunted over the killing of a man in Canada and the mailing of his body parts to different places including the headquarters of the country’s Conservative Party, police said.
Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, is wanted for homicide, Montreal police said late Wednesday at a news conference – amid reports a video of the killing had been posted on a website specializing in ‘gore’.
Reports on Thursday said Magnotta has previously been accused of torturing kittens and having a relationship with notorious Canadian sex killer Karla Homolka - although he strongly denied both.
Police on Thursday said he is believed to have fled North America.
Magnotta, believed to originally be from Toronto, was renting an apartment in a working-class Montreal neighborhood. It was behind that building that police found a man's torso in a suitcase in a heap of garbage Tuesday, police said. That same day, a foot was found in a package mailed to the Conservative party headquarters in Ottawa, and a hand found at postal warehouse in the Canadian capital. The package with the hand was addressed to the Liberal Party of Canada. Early testing shows the three body parts come from the same man, police said.
Police in masks combed through the blood-soaked Montreal studio apartment on Wednesday. A blood stained mattress remained there after they left.
"For most of the officers that were there all night long this is the kind of crime scene they've never seen in their career," Montreal Police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere said.
The National Post newspaper reported that a 10-minute video posted on a website on May 25 appears to show Magnotta murdering, beheading and dismembering a young Asian man in an apartment. Police sources said the video — which is part of the ongoing investigation — appears to be authentic.
Magnotta’s own website contains rambling denials of internet rumors. The Star reported that Magnotta became the subject of a highly organized social media campaign in 2010 after he allegedly killed two kittens and posted a video of their deaths online.
The video, posted on YouTube and later taken down, showed a man torturing and killing two kittens after putting them in a plastic bag and using a vacuum to suffocate them.

The video sparked widespread outrage and prompted a massive online manhunt. The next day, a Facebook group devoted to determining the killer was formed.
Police said Magnotta is also known by the names Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov. They described him as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall (1.78 meters) with blue eyes and black hair.
Police discovered the severed foot after Jenni Bryne, a top political adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, opened a bloodstained box at Conservative party headquarters Tuesday.
When Bryne opened the box, a foul odor overcame the office.
"It was such a horrible odor. I'm sure many of us will not forget it," Conservative Party spokesman Fred DeLorey said.
Police said the package was addressed to the Conservative Party of Canada and not to a specific person.
Canada Post wouldn't comment on the discoveries.
Eric Schorer, the manager of the building where the suspect lived, said Magnotta had been living there for about four months but hadn't been seen around in a while. He said there were never any complaints about noise in the unit, and that Magnotta passed a credit test to rent there.
"He seemed like a nice guy," Schorer said.
Richard Payette, who lived across the hall from Magnotta, said the door of Apartment 208 was left open for part of the day on Wednesday. Payette said there was an overwhelming smell drifting out into the hallway, like bad meat.
"It's very upsetting," Opposition New Democrat member Yvon Godin said. "It could be just one crazy person that did it, but at the same time we have lots of people unhappy in our country, the way the country is going."

Really daryl? I would think true evil comes in all forms, religious or not. Most of the time I've found evil acts exemplified by closed minded, bigoted people who just don't give a crap about anyone else. So, again....all forms, religious or not.
Personally I don't care if this guy was religious or an Atheist, what he did was monstrous and I hope he is caught soon.
Evil, is what it is. It's not related to anything. It's someone being horrible to someone, or something, else. No-more, no-less. The "why" is irrelevant as far as it being "evil".
People are horrible to others because they are malicious and selfish. It's all about them getting what they want. Whether its wanting your stuff, your wife, your kid, or hating on you because their religion says they should.

It is a sick thing, but what really irritates me is the last line of the article. Canada is doing fine. Most people are happy here. Leave to a sore loser politician to politicize a heinous crime. Why would they interview a New Democrat Party member anyway? He loved the attention (although it was negative) from when he tortured and killed the kittens. He video taped it and posted it for attention. It's so bad Canada doesn't have dead penalty...Even if he goes one day in a jail in Canada, after 25 years he has right of parole...Something more, they give the inmates this right for parole much earlier for...god behaviour. Disgusting!

I am glad Texas has the death penalty. We should be matching the punishment to the crime. What ever crime these low life POS commit, we do the same to them! I would guarantee you that the crime rate in the US and Canada would drop dramatically. Daryl, admittingly never having been to Canada before. But I do have friends who live in Alberta and they seem quite normal. I have to say that based on my observation of your post, and this article, Canada has it's fair share of delusional loonies.
Wouldn't it be nice to find out why he committed these alleged crimes? While I agree they are heinous, this man is in the sex trade business. Typically workers in that trade are in that business because they have been sexually victimized at an early age. I am not excusing his behavior at all, finding him and hearing evidence at a trial will show whether he is guilty or innocent. All I am saying is that this spree is indicative of madness and depravity. Perhaps it relates to family violence he witnessed in his youth? While he was a stripper, while he worked in the sex trade business? Unless he has an undiagnosed mental illness, someone in his family or a friend should speak to his behalf of why this occurred.
Equally, the neighbor smelling "bad meat", why didn't they search it out further? Didn't we hear this same stuff with Jeffrey Dahlmer? Perhaps if someone, the neighbor, came in earlier this person wouldn't have died - or parts wouldn't have been sent all over. Lastly, is this related to the shoes turning up in Canada and Washington?
No death penalty in Canada, but when he gets caught he will never get to see the light of day again.
Personally I think we need to have the death penalty. But it should only be reserved for the sickest of the sick, not just your average cop killer. This guy, Bernardo, Rafferty, Pickton, et. al. would all be eligible.

Okay he tortured and killed helpless animals and put videos of the act online. He has been linked with a psycho sex killer that should never have been released from prison (Karla Holmoka). Then he murdered another human being and made a video which ended up online. There are two conclusions here: 1) He is a budding serial killer; 2) He is a really stupid budding serial killer. Thank goodness for idiot criminals and youtube; they practically catch themselves.

You forgot one- if he is condemned to death it will protect society 100% against any later recidivism by the criminal. Personally, I'd start the death penalty at the kitten killing stage. How goddamned cowardly can someone be? Baby and kitten killers are the lowest of the low in my book.

Well, first of all this is in Canada with no death penalty. Secondly, keeping someone in jail for the rest of their life protects society just as well. Thirdly, being pro death penalty means you have the same urges as a serial killer, just trying to justify it -- you get satisfaction in killing others. The only proper feeling in such a case is sadness that humans are prone to such things. The reality is that humans do like violence (look at any number of popular movies, video games and sports as evidence), and the only question is how we justify it. But in the end, all the justifications, like yours are just as evil -- satisfaction in killing.
