A politician in Greece is wanted by police for his behavior on a live TV program where he threw a glass of water on a political rival then punched another. Msnbc.com's Dara Brown reports.
The far-right Greek politician who hit a female politician in the face on live television was still on the lam Friday, according to a report, as politicians from mainstream parties said the attack showed “the real face” of his extremist party.
Ilias Kasidiaris, 31, a spokesman for the Golden Dawn party, violently slapped Communist party lawmaker Liana Kanelli three times and threw a glass of water at another politician on a Thursday morning news show.
Kasidiaris was locked in a room at the TV studio but broke down the door and escaped. He was being sought by police for attempting to inflict dangerous bodily harm, a charge that could lead to a fine or up to 10 years in prison.
Ekathimerini.com reported that he was still on the run Friday despite efforts by the police to find him.
Athens News said it understood that special police units had been called in to help find him.
Parties across the political spectrum condemned Kasidiaris and said he actions shed light on Golden Dawn, which won seven percent of the vote in elections last month that failed to produce a working government.
"This attack is an attack against every democratic citizen,” caretaker government spokesman Dimitris Tsiodras said, according to Athens News.
'Cowards and bullies'
The leftist Syriza party, tipped as likely to get the most votes in the coming election, said the attack showed "the real face of this criminal organization," referring to Golden Dawn.
A new election is scheduled for June 17, as debate continues over the country's place in the euro zone. NBC's Stephanie Gosk reports.
"This young 'gentleman,' the Golden Dawn spokesman, proved today that he is a representative of a group of neo-Nazis that apart from being ultraright are also cowards and bullies," Fofi Gennimata, of the center-left Pasok party, said, according to Athens News. “We call on the people who voted for Golden Dawn to seriously rethink it."
Manhunt for Greek lawmaker who hit female rival on live television
Antonis Samaras, leader of the center-right New Democracy party said that “we condemn them and we must isolate them and, chiefly, we must not allow them to divide the Greek people, particularly at a time when our country needs us united in the face of this deep crisis we are going through.”
NYT: Greece warns of going broke as tax proceeds dry up
Ekathimerini.com reported that Golden Dawn party leader Nikos Michaloliakos claimed Kanelli had attacked Kasidiaris first. She threw a newspaper at him before he attacked her.
It added that Mihaloliakos, speaking at an election rally near Athens Thursday, had said “elections never did this country any good.”

one of us .... one of us .... he be one of us....
this is much closer to hometown, middle america than any of us cares to admit.
I'm happy to point it out. Maybe middle America has blinders on, but the truth is as obvious as the nose on Hitler's face. What does it say about a presidential nominee, when he holds a fundraiser at the house of a conservative bazillionare under the gaze of 2 original Hitler paintings, and a signed copy of Mein Kampf?
They all are.
WHAT?!? How dare you!
(Throws water at Bigpicture and then lunges over the table)
/s
Middle America? You mean right America.
Sam Adams is spot on: the Golden Dawn have been listening to the rhetoric over here that the far right has been spewing for too long. I despise the Torries for their divisive hate that they then claim 'everyone else' was doing it not them: but even they aren't as bad as the far right in the USA and, apparently, the far right in Greece.
There is just something about the very far right that is a bit unstable to say the least. Doesn't seem to matter what state they're in, either.....
So true since a progressive slapped the loser in Wisconsin's recall election in the face too, but thats ok because she's a Progressive and is better than everyone else.
Since when is slapping a commie a crime?
Since they passed laws against assault.
So a commie throws a newspaper at this far right guy (it was unclear if the newspaper actually struck him) prompting the far right guy to slap the commie. Ideology at work while Greece burns.
Guy swings like a girl.
Commies do not deserve any respect.
He'll just come to America and join the Tea Party.
Joe He slapped her after she started it. If you go in a black neighborhood and yell nigga, you'll get the same response. Don't insult people and if you can't handle a response. The Tea Party is great for calling down the "Great Destroyer" seating in the Oval Office
The guy's a nutcase but in extreme times extreme people come to front. I bet this guy will be "supreme leader" next year. Greeks love a dictatorship they've only had a democracy for a few years since the last military backed dictatorship.
Unfortunately you are right... Many Greeks don't appreciate Democracy...
michalis, how true! funny how the inventors are often not very good at the thing they've invented. you remind me of English soccer in World Cup competition, and America as a competitor (not) in the global economy.
Bigpicture - when your little USA team finally wins something, come and let me know. They certainly haven't mustered anything yet where they can even stand in the shadow of my Three Lions (excepting the American striker Jack Dempsey- but then he's been playing for Fulham in my hometown (London) in the Premier League, not in the USA - I wonder why?). Why don't you make some other duff comment as well: like 'funny that England depended on their navy for so long' or something as off the mark and obviously lame like that? ('big picture' my boron compressor...)
What a couple of complete spanners. The Greeks DO appreciate Democracy and Tim: don't make excuses for bad behaviour and then follow up with comments that don't make sense. The only thing your post sets out is a bad example, hence the sheeple following your misguided lead.
Hells: if some people didn't tell you, you would never know they've been away on holiday.....
alextheblade, I love how silly the brits are. brilliant! i really do like them in all cases, but their total silliness is really so endearing. i was only thinking of how excited london becomes at the beginning of every world cup competition (i've been there for the last three such opportunities) and how quiet they always so quickly grow whenever they have either faced, or about to face, one of the serious european or latin american sides (to whom you exported the game -- well done!). as you probably don't appreciate, in sports-crazed america, the overwhelming percentage of the population could not care less about your "football". carry on, mate.
Limey creep.
It's fun to watch Greece crumble.
Well seems we have seen the children of Greece. Are there any adults?
nanette, have you seen any of the incessant, mindless squabbling that goes on between the american right wing nuts and american left wing nuts on this very blog? are there any adults anywhere? just read on...
lol Bigpicture
lol, yes, the monkeys have awoken early to begin their daily internet ritual of flinging poo at each other....
i wonder what Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Washington, et al woud think of their neverending poo fling? No. I don't really wonder. I only wonder why we've let ourselves be so, so dumbed down by the entrenched, crony, political class (and their accomplice, the fourth estate) wearing both red and blue jerseys and laughing all the way to the bank at the expense of all of us and this once-geat nation.
Personally, I think our system is in a state of evolution. People seem to want to go "back" to what it was. It has become corrupted beyond reason. The only problem is...no one has any plausible idea how to develop a new paradigm for the future. Neither of the candidates can change dramatically enough to really make a difference. Our government is at a point that it can only react anymore. I feel that nothing can really get better until this house of cards falls. The general public feels disenfranchised.
It's the flaw in the two party political system.
First one party rules, and enriches it's backers.
Then the other party rules, and enriches it's backers.
Meanwhile both parties keep the monkeys divided, flinging poo at each other so they don't notice what their political masters are doing.
yes, cpo,s. exactly! not at all the vision our founders brought to north america. we need a constitutional amendment to limit all politicians to one, single term, and add teeth to the amendment so that the lobbyists can't simply designate their next puppet.
Voters hold the power to do that now and don't, so how do you plan on getting Congress to pass such a Constitutional Amendment and then have it approved by 75% of all State legislatures in America? Alternatively do really believe its feasible that 2/3 of all States will call fora Constitutional convention i=on this issue? You expect those in power to push this? There is no way other than at the ballot box and despite all the whining from all of us here about incumbents at least 85% will win again in November. The mess in America is 100% the fault of every citizen of voter age and that includes the undersigned.
There is a proposed Constitutional Amendment on Congressional Reform. It addresses campaign finance, term limits, earmarks, lobbying, length of bills, ties congressional pay to GDP, etc. If WE THE PEOPLE can quit bickering over ideology and which flavor koo-aid is better, we can take control back from the lobbies. You can read it if you google "Unaffiliated Solutions for America."
jeff, i am just a simple businessman and recovering corporate lawyer. i hope you aren't trying to pick a fight with me over the path to be taken, as i am neither an expert nor a politician. if, as you say, no constitutional amendment is necessary (i'm not yet convinced), then we should employ whatever resources we have to fix our once great, now very broken country. as mpa suggests, we the people are the only ones who can get it done.
Thats what I was suggesting, but the simple fact is that after the change from the ideal of the "melting pot" to the pure unmitigated garbage we call "diversity and multiculturalism" we are so irreparably divided we're not going to be able to change the Constitution to enact term limits. There is no other way it can be done other than by Constitutional amendment or voters creating their own idea of term limits by voting incumbents out. Lets not forget that FDR was elected President 4 times and the only reason no one was later elected to more than 2 is the Constitutional ban on a President serving more than 2 terms. Congress Will stay the same until he voters and/or the Constitution changes. Wish it were different, but that's the sad state of affairs. I knew when I hit my mid 50's I'd wish to have a different age by about 20 years. Never dawned on me until recently that I would end up wishing I were 75 and not 35 lol.
CPO Sharkey: It's a little late in the day, but here's a chunk for you....
Americans are the pawns of the rich, social mobility is only downward and the American dream officially died in 2011 (Reuters made it official: http://blogs.reuters.com/reuters-money/2011/06/23/is-the-american-dream-dead/).
Oooh, that was a big one!
its about time a dirty communist was put in its place. but it will do nothing for the collapse of greece and the EU.
The face of the right in America rears its ugly head. No different than Greece Wake up America
oh yes, wake up america
the left wing socialist who have destroyed greece now want to destroy america.
Yeh everything was just rosy until Obama took power in 2009, not a single economic problem in 2008 under the Bush right wing presidency.
Obviously, you do not know how to conduct yourself as a gentleman, and you should never be allowed out in public without a guardian, since striking others because you disagree with them seems to suit you. I imagine all of your neighbors are weary of your antics by now.
Watch this thread rapidly disolve into claim/counter-claim of US Left V Right incantations - as if that had anything to do with the spectre of a Spokeperson representing a political party carrying out a vicious assault of one of his female opponents.
But then, since Judy Garlands yellow brick road was clearly constructed by Wall Street Hedge funds on their way to the promised land of free money for all - I guess you can twist anything into everything.
Except talk about the topic in hand :)
Right wingers are morons and thugs the world over. Hitler is smiling.
Yeah, let's just conveniently forget that TENS OF MILLIONS MORE people were murdered and unjustly imprisoned under the communist regimes of Stalin and Mao than under Hitler.
The communists are the biggest bullies of all.
sherm
The right end of the political spectrum is anarchy and chaos. The left end of the political spectrum is Dictators, Fascists, Monarchies, and Oligarchies. Hitler benefited from the chaos and destruction left behind by WW1. He promised a new, restored and powerful Germany. He created a false enemy and the German people bought it lock, stock and barrel. Hitler, Mao and Stalin are all one and the same - tyrants. And, they are on the left end of the political/government spectrum. Understand the difference?
Dan-O-3396429..........
Since YOU, obviously, DO NOT KNOW WHAT FASCISM IS, here are some words from people in a position to know:
FASCISM IS a ---RIGHT-WING--- political ideology.
Well said, Ian. Understand the difference, Danno.
So in other words, Roosevelt is admitting that since the ownership of our government is in reality shared by the international private bankers that constitute the Federal Reserve and the secret society of the Bilderbergers, we have therefore become a FASCIST country.
Fascism is an ideology that is blamed on the RIGHT, but is practiced even more in different ways by the LEFT.
Who can believe that Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a man instrumental in the fight against and ultimate defeat of 20th century fascism, needs words put into his mouth (regarding same) by a machinehead ?
The words are clear. That they offend you is evidence of your ideology.
You can't and never will twist fascism into anything other than a far-right political ideology. Socialism is far left. Communism is extreme left. Fascism is their polar opposite.
BTW---did you intentionally omit the Trilateral Commission ???
Also BTW---The Federal Reserve System was brought into being by President Woodrow Wilson shortly after he defeated (one term republican) President Taft. It was motivated primarily by a series of banking panics (i.e. the panic of 1907). Those panics were exacerbated (possibly caused) by the substantially unregulated banking industry. The Fed's structure was a compromise between the interests of the federal government (aka the American people through their elected representatives) and the immensely powerful banking industry. It is for this reason that the banking industry (to this day) has such a powerful presence on the Federal Reserve Board. Progressives (now as then) would be more than happy to see that influence diminished.
Look guys...
I'll try to break it down for you. And, understand, I am not trying to be obtuse or make cheap jabs here. I'm being serious. We need to understand and define our terms better when expressing comments about the left/right dichotomy.
On the far left of political/government ideologies, we have big, centralized government - authoritarianism/totalitarianism. On the far right, you have general lawlessness, chaos, anarchy. Imagine a volume knob where it goes from high to low or vise versa. Somewhere in the middle is a democratic republic where government and people share common ground. To say fascism is a far right ideology is to say that it is more like chaos and anarchy which could not be further from the truth.
The left-wing/right-wing dichotomy is for the most part true. There are a handful of people who want anarchy because they don't like the form of government which is currently in place. Some people might call me a right-winger. The truth is I am an independent voter and a libertarian. I thought Bush was good president but, misguided and over-reaching in many of his policies. I think the same with regard to Obama. They have both represented a large push towards bigger government. That places me "right" of most big government-loving types. It places me even further right of those who want socialist/communist/fascist/statist type government, which many Democrats and Republicans vote for. I hate to say it but, many Tea Party folks stand exactly in the same spot as I; far right of most Dems and Repubs on an ideological base.
In the end, I don't think most Americans want a dictator, king, queen, oligarchy of bankers, UN making rules for us here in the US anymore than most Americans want utter and complete chaos. We disagree on how much government we want though and this is the big sticking point of our time. There has been a long period of congress and presidents usurping the will of the people through lobbyist and special interests for quite some time. It's been a long slumber for the people. We all need to wake up and rein in government if we are to keep some semblance of liberty and freedom (socially and financially) in our country. Otherwise, tomorrow we may be subjects of a tyrannical government.
Cheers - Dan-O
Dan-O-3396429.......you premised:
Then, from there, you deduced:
First and generally, anarchy (aka lawlessness, chaos) is neither a left nor right "ideology". Rather, it is a state of affairs wherein rules of law promulgated by organized society are not enforced (usually resulting from the breakdown of whatever form of government had been in place). However, most political experts consider anarchy to be far-left. But, there are many types of anarchy. Some may be more left or more right (i.e. extreme libertarianism). But, the right-wing certainly does not hold a monopoly upon anarchy.
So, your premise is flawed. As is typical with any flawed premise, deductions from it are also flawed (as is yours).
Now you, as a self-professed right-leaning Libertarian, have an interest in promoting the idea that fascism is not a right-wing ideology. But, that does not change the truth about that matter as noted by such bona fide experts (on that subject) as Mussolini, Roosevelt, and many others.
Conservatives have been busily trying to re-define Christianity to fit their agenda. Now, they attempt to do this with fascism. We all understand the tactic of repeating lies over and over until, it is hoped, they are believed. But, this tactic only works when those dedicated to personal and intellectual honesty allow it. That will not happen.
Fascism is right-wing. That is a fact. Expressing (solely your) opinions to the contrary, is pointless.
BTW--A case can be made that the most extreme left-wing political ideology is pure democracy.
Ian Emdee: Try getting some bran in your diet. It truly helps (wink, wink)
Ian
I use a scale of small to big, 0-10, A-Z when accessing government types and ideologies. You use something akin to a parabolic scale where the focal point is anarchy and left/right slope infinitely to extremes on opposite sides. Let me ask you a few questions. On a parabolic scale, where would a republican form of government stand in relation to a democratic government since the two are not the same? The US is a combination of those two types of government, a representative democracy. Would a rep. democracy not fall closely to the point of anarchy on the parabolic scale? It might explain why congress gets nothing done...lol.
Does a parabolic scale make more sense to you in defining governments and political ideologies? If so, carry on. I will simply add that, on either side of a parabolic type scale is the specter of a large, abusive, tyrannical, centralized government. It doesn't matter which one we prefer more. At the going rate of our elected representatives, we are going to get one or the other. I think it is inevitable.
Why doesnt the left wing, liberal USA media ever do the same thing with the liberal side of USA politics?? They can point out this horrible silliness in Greece, but are, apparently, unable or unwilling to point out the silly left wing craziness.
Nancy Pelosi - who claims to be Catholic - supports every single piece of legislation that will allow EVERY THING Catholics disagree with
Ted Kennedy - deceased - was never called to task over the FACT that his programs were ALWAYS over budget and out of control and were never ended
Obama - his lack of a birth certificate has become the USA "joke". If you ask about it, you are laughed off stage. Really? Did the Constitution get changed? Where is his valid, authentic, non- .pdf copy??
Gays - just dont even ask what they can do - they are seeking to do it all and if you disagree - you are a "hater". Wow, hater??? Isnt that declaration "hate" speech in and of itself??? I am not sure how an activity, that has been unacceptable since the beginning of time, is now the "normal" way to live. Is it? If we are all gay, civilization will cease to exist for obvious procreation reasons.
These are just A FEW of the things the liberal USA media REFUSES to cover with any semblance of unbiased coverage. So please, go write to your mother, not to me, about why the USA media can make such a BIG STINK over this Greek guy, all the while they do exactly the same type of "extreme" things here in the USA (now the USSR with O in office)
Cant you right winger do anything but blame all the other people in the world for you mistakes. You have proved over and over again you policies are stupid and caused the world collapse and still yo decide to come on line and complan about the Mythical liberal media which does not exist.
really???
3.5 years into obama's term and you socialist still blame bush.
History will still blame Bush 1000 years from now.
Most Catholics practice birth control and disregard what the pope says...Ted Kennedy was the only person that had the guts to do what should have been done a long time ago, bring single payer health insurance to all Americans since half of them don't have any and more employers are canceling it every day. Re Obama's birth certificate, this is an outright joke..you have the gaul to accuse Obama when your parties entire agenda is geared toward Grover Norquist, a card carrying member of the Muslim Brotherhood who financed the 9/11 attacks on American Citizens and is a traitor to the United states of America. As far as the gay thing goes, that's just another in the long line of divisive diversionary tactics used by the RepubliCONS to keep people from seeing what they are really all about Greed, selfishness and hate and promotion of an agenda devised by a person who should actually be tried for treason, namely Grover Norquist. Your party is an abomination.
Greece suffered terribly under a right wing dictatorship 1969-1974 until they were outsed. The scars the right wing dictator Papadopoulos inflicted on the nation are still evident today. These dictators came about because the right wing couldn't stant the democratically elected government of Andreas Papandreau. It seems anytime the right wing can't tolerate other thinking than their own they always resort to personal attack, extreme divisiveness and violence.
Rwing - how can you equate a young man assaulting a middle-aged woman on TV, with political policies with which you disagree?
If people don't like Nancy Pelosi's policies, they can vote her out of office. The same can be said with Obama.
As to your birther-paranoia, you're are welcome to your delusional beliefs. A republican governor was in office during the 2008 election, yet the state of Hawaii officially vetted the authenticity of his birth records. Get over it. You may not like him, but he is an American citizen, native born, and he is president.
RWing: Obama - his lack of a birth certificate has become the USA "joke". If you ask about it, you are laughed off stage. Really? Did the Constitution get changed? Where is his valid, authentic, non- .pdf copy??
Buy a fricking coffee cup and look at the original - idiot. What in the Hellfire ARE you supposed to BE anyhow? A plonking 'birther' or something? You were doing alright until this came up - apparently it was the point in your post where you just got tired of thinking. This right-wing birth certificate fiasco has been a dead letter for a couple of years and its only the fruit loops that still spew this crap. But hey - go ahead - As long as the answer is RIGHT who CARES if the question is wrong. The "USA JOKE" around the globe is the right wing fringe that still brings this rubbish up - only you're too bloody duff to know that.
Certainly there will come a time when you finally realise that your whole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others. MOST SANE people know it - I'm just saying it.
RWING
More whining and complaining huh.........
Read amendment #1. When you are done, please come to the conclusion that there is NO established religion of the United States. A politician is supposed to do what's right for everyone in America, not just one religion.
LOL - How many other politicans can say their 'sponosored" programs were under budget and not out of control.
LOL no, the joke here is you. Why don't you personally go up to the white house, ring the door bell and ask if you can see it. Oh and can you post your birth certificate too. I want to ensure you are an American.
So, in other words... You think a gay marriage or gay equal rights somehow impedes your heterosexual rights to discriminate? Are you afraid a gay man is going to treat you the way you treat women?
I normally would not post this much... . but I want to make sure you see how the 'right" handles gay rights...

The Crime: Paying male prostitutes for sex and snorting crystal meth.
The Hypocrisy: A powerful force in the evangelical movement, Haggard participated in weekly meetings with President George Bush and top advisors where he gave spiritual advice. He taught that homosexuality was an abomination and actively lobbied against gay rights.
The Quote: “I did not have a homosexual relationship with a man in Denver.”

(June 11, 2007)
The Crime: Soliciting sex from an undercover cop in an airport bathroom
The Hypocrisy: Craig twice voted against adding the words “sexual orientation” to the federal hate crimes law. Craig also voted to give states the right to refuse to recognize gay marriage–a right they already had, but the Senator wanted to really, really prove he didn’t like gay people.
The Quote: “I am not gay, I don’t do these kinds of things.”

(July 11, 2007)
The Crime: Offering an undercover cop $20 to allow Allen to blow him in a men’s room in a public park. After being arrested, Allen tried to explain that he only offered to blow the cop because the cop was a “burly black man” and he “didn’t want to become a statistic.”
The Hypocrisy: Allen was one of 21 Florida legislators to sign Gov. The Crime: Murphy got a fellow Young Republican drunk and then spent the night at his house. The other young man woke up in the middle of the night to find Murphy giving him mouth-to-penis resuscitation. After this incident, a 1998 sexual battery report came to light in which Murphy was alleged to have done the exact same thing.
The Hypocrisy: Murphy was a well-paid political consultant for Republican candidates and often advised them to use gay marriage as a wedge issue to paint their opponents as out of touch with traditional values.
The Quote: “I was in the Sound of Music in High School…don’t ask” (from his now-defunct Myspace page.)
P.S. There is no reason to post anything more about the Democrats either. Its very clear that both parties are failing the American people. However, its amazing to me when individuals completely ignore the "Good Bye Old Party" contributions
Please distinguish between left-wing (usually the term for communists) and liberal. Not the same thing at all.
Re gays - you don't have to like the lifestyle to simply admit that they are entitled to rights as americans. That's what the issue is.
Since when is any person in power supposed to vote to support a particular religion, as in catholics. Aren't we all supposed to be represented?
I am a liberal as I believe the Bible teaches us to be, so please don't refer to me as a moron, or a hater, or any of the other things the right-wing loves to throw at liberals. I am making no judgments about any right-wingers, as true liberals usually don't, just making a couple of points.
tnscot......you said:
No, tnscot.........we BLAME YOU.....and, those like yourself who empowered Bush....and, once again, seek to empower the incipient aristocracy (aka Romney) in this country to gain political hegemony.
You folks have made a Faustian bargain with fascist corporatists. The same was done by the German people between the world wars. They, driven by their hatred of Jews, communists, homosexuals, etc., allowed fascism to gain a death grip upon their "Fatherland" which only a world war and millions upon millions of deaths could prize loose. You are little different.
Ian
Who is "we"? Blue dogs, Democrats, liberals, progressives, socialists, communists? I'm trying to get a handle on where you rank on the left side of the scale so that I can get a base for the blanket "we" that was used. There's a considerable difference in the amount of loathe I might carry for you and the "we" group. I like to moderate the amount of hate I express towards others. On a scale of 0-10, Blue dogs are like 2 and communist are like 10. So where are ya man? :)
think the downfall of greece and think left wing socialist/commies.
Best way to get a socialist/ commie as you call it government is suffer through a right win government like we had in 2000.
Why don't you try just thinking, period? Of course, that is like asking a penguin why doesn't it just try flying.
Wait a minute. You're overreacting. Did you hear any slurs? No. Merely a physical assault which will be dealt with. My experience here in the used to be good ole USA is that slurs are much worse than physical attacks. Slurs bring all life to a halt and cause a level of angst that destroys lives, brings on obesity and decreases fuel mileage in the victim's vehicle. Lives have to be jump started with loads of cash and lots of public apologies. Then a real recovery is still iffy. A mere physical assault is nothing compared to the use of a slur and no one knows from one day to the next what will become a slur.
Your abuse of hyperbole is indicative of a lack of intellect and reason. You don't win any arguments with such pointless, irrelevant nonsense. But I imagine you get the same feeling doing this that I get when evacuating my bowels, and for the same reason, except I have the decency to flush.
Who's trying to win arguments?
It does make me feel good and I love your response.
Rim shot?

foodstamp use up 100% this year.
what the hell happened to the great recovery obama keeps talking about.
The G.O.P.-controlled Congress has blocked most attempts to boost the economy. They're willing to put all of us in the poorhouse, as long as it hurts Obama's chances of reelection. They're slapping you, and throwing water in your face, but you just haven't figured that out yet.
boost the economy, hmmm...lets see
1) obama looking for money to hire more teachers, cops and firefighters (unions). as if this really creats jobs for the majority of americans.
2) obama wanting to create green jobs.(millions of $$ given to solyndra and other green companies and closed the doors)...so much for green jobs.
3) obama wants money for infrastructural projects.( san francisco bridge jobs outsourced to china) american job seekers out in the cold.
all the jobs created are for green cards...and their children qualify ...for food stamps...that's one...then there are those... new generation of those who have always lived off the system...then there are those who can't find work that are actually try'n to be self supportive...then there are those who control the government that want every body on government assistance...
plain bob, you are plain incorrect. I am glad to see you have such a high regard for the government you helped create. If everything is so broken, why don't you move that country you think is so much better. If not, learn something, and stop voting for people that have no interest in your concerns. Try for once in your life to think three-dimensionally, if you even know what that means.
Aw, c'mon.
Truth is, this is what every far-right American politician secretly desires to do to every uppity female.
I guess the war on women by the right isn't happening just in America. It has been going on for over 2000 years, ever since the Castholic church was invented to suppress women, and while they're at it, talking about that weirdo Jesus that regarded men and women as total equals. Evangelicals have been even worse.
I didn't realize the Catholic church was quite that old, nor that it invented the "war on woment." Thanks, John.
Wait a second, the Nazi party and Tea party are no-where near related. You poor uneducated misfits who obviously were taught by a liberal that personal responsibility is a bad thing and allowing someone else to pay for your lazy arss, don't know a facist from a conservative, a liberal from a constitutionalist and believe that a very large group in this country who simply want the gov't put back into the constitutional box that it has escaped from, and to live within its means are the same party as the nazi's? Wow, that really does speak volumes for your mis guided thought process. But you had best pray you are wrong, because IF the tea party is a nazi party, once they are in power, one of the first thing to be done would be to exterminate the socialist, the two do not get along. All the tea party wants is a fiscally responsible gov't and if the gov't aint got the money, then it aint got the money. Personally, not a tea party member, but understand their position. The right and left in Greece are not even closely related to the right and left in our country.
This Greek wingnut and our own Tea Party actually have a lot in common. They share the same confusion about what democracy actually is (or should be), and they have the same "slit our own throats" approach to economic policy. (The Tea Partiers are being played for suckers by the 1%-ers. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.)
And at the end of the day, they're both motivated by hatred of the "others" - they blame everything on people who aren't just like them (mostly white trailer trash, it appears). There's an inescapable mean-spirited quality to their beliefs, and to the policies they support. They're very eager to tighten someone else's belt, but it hasn't dawned on them that they'll end up being the losers.
Actually, they are both right-wing extremists.
In pre war Germany the Nazi party was described as being right wing. Today the Tea party is described as being right wing.
However, any intelligent person taking the time to understand what what each party really stood for would know that they have virtually nothing in common.
The terms "right" and "left" are only labels. Would you describe John Kennedy as being "right" wing? Yet review of many of his positions would classify him as "right" wing by today's definition.
Take the time to learn what the NAZI party actually stood for before you apply it today's right or left and stop letting the media define it for you.
Well, JDD, the Nazi party were very strong on military adventurism but showed somewhat less regard for non-Aryan and other so called "undesirable" segments of society. Which political faction in today's America do you believe most aligns with those particular views?
sher,
The NAZI party believed in a strong central government regulating almost all aspect of the economy. Which political party in today's America do you believe most aligns with those particular views?
That would be the GOP. The Tea Party hasn't figured that out yet.
sher,
Now I know I am debating someone who is seriously misinformed or just an outright liberal bigot. Further discussion is pointless.
I'm neither a liberal or a bigot but I do agree the discussion is futile.
Wow, what an "unbiased" bunch of comments. Yes, ALL OF OUR problems are due EXCLUSIVELY to the Rwing. Sure. LBJ's "war" on poverty and its related socialist work has not done a thing to our govt spending. Neither did FDR's programs that were firsts for a country built to be a republic. JFK's plan to go to the moon developed NASA which spends BILLIONS every year. For what? Nothing. No, no, those money gobbling LW ideas are "good". But the Constitution and other "crazy" RW ideas are all "hater" and "bad" ideas. You are "good-a-phobic" if you do not agree with Nancy Pelosi.
Great idea Rwing.
All your right-wingers can hold forth in your basements with your bibles and your pocket-sized U.S. Constitutions while the left-wing commies rain down doomsday weapons from space.
Great idea!!!
RWing is completely out to sea, if not out in space: his 'birther' post above just proves that a little bit of ignorance CAN go a long way.....
That's no woman - too manly to be a woman and she was charging like a cow in heat - what else was he supposed to do?
you are kidding, right?
Standing up is 'charging like a cow in heat'? 'What else was he supposed to do' - is this how you react to women who challenge you? Sissy.
Of course I am kidding and JTM - watch you little cowardly comments
Kirk-1020827........
Ms. Kaneli reacted (stood up, etc.) AFTER Mr. Kasadiaris threw a glass of water at Ms. Dourou.........
See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xi6TbLmeFoQ
Please, by all means, continue to defend this fascist.
THIS IS SPARTA!!!
No, Voice, this was Athens. If it had been Sparta of eons ago, the woman would have nailed him after the first slap, and slit his throat. Spartan women were not people you messed with. lol
From the extremes of the Nazis to this, to the hateful and threatening speech of modern American conservatives, the right-wing is inherently violent and authoritarian...
A REAL man, with REAL balls wouldn't be hiding from the police like a scared little bitch. A REAL man owns up to his actions and takes it like a man. The fact that he's on the run shows just how guilty he KNOWS he is. Hope he gets smacked around in jail to see what its like. He's not even worthy to be spit on. Wifebeating facsist pig.
To be honest I'm fed up with women trying to define what a "real man" is, leave this to men and we'll leave you define what a "real woman" is. It comes across as very arrogant that you as a woman would be an "authority" on what a "real man" is when by biological fact your a woman.
So in the spirit of it what do you think defines a "real woman". I know what a lot of men would state as in large breasts, pretty face etc do you have either of those as otherwise sorry but your not a "real woman" so your invalid as a person.
You take my point.
Geez, Tim, somebody nail the door shut on your outhouse this morning?
Perhaps he's been snorting coke and got the ice cubes stuck in his nose...?
no outhouse, no coke and definitely no ice cubes, just sick of opinionated women spouting rubbish about men.
Tim - I agree with you - look at what most women are doing to their sons nowadays - helicoptering all over the place - little Jimmy can't play sports - might get hurt and how come your son got a trophy and mine didn't? Moms are the backbone of this country and they are raising a generation of irresponsible people - blame that right wing nut job's mother for turning him into a coward
Hey Kirk. We get it. You're a diehard misogynist. You have major problems with women. I think we all understand why, but you don't. Wipe the flecks of froth from your lips and calm down. Don't worry. No women will come near you, so you can remain a pure manly man, in the most masculine way, and cavort with other manly masculine men in the woods, shooting at field mice and crickets.
Mymom hit the nail right on the head. Folks like Tim and Kirk are the kind of guys that have been rejected by women their entire lives so it makes sense they take offense to "opinionated women". They prefer their bitches be without any critical thinking ability so they're an easy target.... makes it simple for them to be wooed by itty bitty peckers and even tinier brains. Guys like Tim still drag their knuckles on the ground when they walk.
The man has a swing that appears to be well practiced! Pity any females in his life because it most certainly looks like that this is not the first time he's exploded with such a remarkable lack of self restraint. And the women are the first to be lashed out at, by him. Say goodbye to the political career! wonder who's face he'd slap here in the USA-if he got the chance! LOL
This is reminiscent of the 2010 Kentucky Senate race, when Rand Paul's campaign workers knocked a woman to the floor and stomped on her head, all caught on camera. The difference is, the US media didn't have the courage to say that those actions showed the true face of the Tea Party.
The TV show attack shows the real fact of the far-right everywhere. You see it here all the time; present facts, and they reply with disparaging toward the poster and the source of the facts.
With those types, it's always the victim's fault for being a victim.
Those damned communists! He should've just knocked her out, cold.
right wing tolerance.
Commie!!
What an absolutely ludicrous comparison by most of you left leaning haters! You are the worst at what you claim to abhor in your opposition. Your actual PREJUDICE and HATRED screams way louder than your accusations of the same towards your opponents. Grow up! Please!
You do recall that t-party rally organizers encouraged people to attend with loaded weaponry, right?
This is no outlier, this is the face of the far right. And it's as ugly as it gets.
Mark - come on now - that is the equivalent of saying the left encouraged the OWS to rape women and poop in the streets
OWS isn't a political party for one, they have no representatives in government nor do they have any candidates. Secondly OWS doesn't sanction or encourage rape (that's kind of a silly statement, don't you think?). Thirdly, pooping in the streets doesn't rise to the level of purposefully trying to itimidate politicians or the elctorate with loaded weaponry.
Really, bring your loaded handguns to a political rally? That's the state of right-wing politics in the US these days?
Mark - there were several efforts to actualize the OWS movement by the left - but it failed - unfortunately as I am sympathetic to their message and I am also sympathetic with part of the tea parties message - there were only a couple of incidences where some tea party nut brought a gun - I don't know if the gun was loaded or not
You forgot to mention that the guy carrying the weapon in the infamous story in Arizona was actually black,--- Not to mention that it was totally legal.
There are wackos at BOTH ends of the political spectrum, the left just chooses to justify or ignore there thugs.
Kirk, I have no problem with the t-party or any party expressing their opinions.
It's all the other stuff that scares me, not personally, but for the kind of political atmosphere it creates, which lately I think we can both agree has been as bad as it gets.
Shame on Greek for allowing fanatic righties to try to take over the country.
US is doing the same thing, sadly.
MWP_N_Cookieville:
I haven't seen many 'left leaners' on Fox Noise or the conservative boards. When I see them, they certainly aren't acting the ignoramouses that the Rwinger post on these (left-leaning) boards. The Right seems to spew the same anti-lets-kill-the-libtards-because-everything-is-their-fault attitudes on the conservative boards that they do here. AND THAT IS WHAT IS STUPID: This is more a left wing than centrist "news" (for lack of a better word) board - so WHY are there so many RWingers here hating the left and everything about what people say?
Go back to Fox and your massage parlours - get the F'ing hellfire out of dodge if you don't like it. But damn - don't come on here acting holier than the rest of the right wingers and claiming foul over prejudice and hatred when you are on the board that you're on. You're the one that needs to grow up - in fact as an Indy I'm offended by your post. WHO IN BLOODY HELLFIRE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO EVEN START OUT WITH DECLARING POSTERS AS "LEFT LEANING HATERS". ?!? Speaking to the ludicrous YOU ARE HYPOCRACY AT ITS FINEST -
Way off the mark as usual Alex. If you don't see left leaning ignoramus's here, then you have blinders on. Both sides of the political spectrum have their wackos and I said so.
You admit this is a left of center media. Liberals all the time claim conservatives are ill informed, and need to read something besides Fox, and yet if we do and then comment you get irate and tell us not to play in your sand box. Truth is libs want to stay in their own little world hating those they don't understand just as much as they claim the other side does. Your divider in chief would be proud...
