'Hitler, thank you': Anti-Zionist slogans daubed in Hebrew at Holocaust memorial

JERUSALEM - Vandals spray-painted anti-Zionist slogans at Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial and police said on Monday they suspect radical ultra-Orthodox Jews opposed to Israel's existence were responsible.

"Hitler, thank you for the Holocaust," one slogan read.

Police told The Jerusalem Post that one of the slogans read scrawled on the wall read: "Haredi World Community".  Haredi are ultra-Orthodox extremists, some of whom regard modern-day Israel as an abomination, believing the establishment of the Jewish state must await the coming of the Messiah.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said investigators were working on the assumption the vandals were "members of the extreme ultra-religious community."

Some of the graffiti, all written in Hebrew and daubed overnight on exterior walls, accused Israel's founders of secretly encouraging the slaughter of six million Jews by the Nazis during World War II to hasten the creation, in 1948, of the Jewish state.

"The Zionists wanted the Holocaust," one slogan said.

According to The Jerusalem Post, other slogans read: "Thanks Hitler for the wonderful Holocaust you organized for us! Only because of you we received a state," "Jews, wake up, the evil regime does not protect us, it only endangers us" and "The war of the Zionist regime is not the war of the Jewish people."

'Burning hatred'
Avner Shalev, chairman of Yad Vashem, said he was "shocked and dazed by this callous expression of burning hatred against the Zionists and Zionism."

Israelis stand in silent remembrance of Holocaust victims

Yad Vashem, a museum and memorial, was established on a Jerusalem hilltop in 1953 and is often visited by foreign leaders who place wreaths in its stark Hall of Remembrance.

To Chris Eidam, are you on crack? Do you like to hear your own dribble. Do you get your info out of Marvel comics? Do you and Bigfoot hang together? Why oh why do we keep seeing the same crackpots and bigots day after day. This is like a soap opera. I don't participate for a while and then come back to find the same hate mongers who when contested go from Israeli Bashers to their real life of Jew hating. If all of you would take the pacifiers out of your mouths, get a job and maybe contribute to society then I might just listen. But at best you prove nothing except "Thank God for Israel" and her existence. At least there are 2 countries where Jews can feel relatively safe, Israel and the good old USA, even with all of you moronic nutcases

Astonishing - I've read the article twice and still don't get the logic behind Jews thinking that the mass killing of other Jews was a good thing because it led to the creation of a State that they (the first Jews) don't think should exist. These vandals have CPU issues upstairs - or I do, because it is bizarrely (word?) convoluted.

    Same here.. No logic whatsoever..

I think its similar to what Freaking whacko Norvegian guy did. That SOB, who is racist, mad at muslims, goes on a shooting rampage killing 90 innocent norvegians...Go figure...

I would love to see some isreali retards who hate palestinians go berzerk and whack some isreali conservatives.. Now, that will also will not make sense, but, will work for the world community...

Yes, every nation includes carazies who turn on their own.

It's not like good muslims never kill each other.

But remember, we are talking about a tiny minority (the ultra-ultra Orthodox) of a small minority (the Orthodox) of another minority (Jews).

I first read this article a few days ago when it first aired and was surprised to read the comments I was surprised because most of them were just full of condemnation and not a single one was trying to turn this into an Israel vs Palestinian debate (so it was quite refreshing) yet now the same old arguments are back. I have to wonder if most of those comment who about Israel vs Palestine know that not all Israel’s social problems are the cause of Arabs and that (just like anybody else) some Israelis can be assh@8%e’s

I have yet to see an MSNBC story on Israel's attempts to have a moment of silence at the opening ceremonies for the murdered Israeli Olympis Team, cruelly murdered 40 years ago at the Berlin Olympics, an internationally recognized effort of peace for every human being.

Of course, I am not surprised by this 'omission' either.

There was a story on that, and there was plenty of anti-semitic remarks after it too. You would recognize some familiar poster-names.

        Steven B

There was indeed a story about Israel trying to get a moment of silence at the London Olympics and how the Olympic committee denied the request, and yes there was also a lot of anti-Israel remarks on that article, just like there was a lot of anti-Arab remarks and a load of accusations of anti-Semitism directed at anyone who criticised Israel, it would appear that whenever MSNBC runs an article about Israel the extremists for both sides come out

1 - wake up! there was a storyat MSNBC

2- Stop calling MSNBC "no-like jews" media. MSNBC, full of jews still control the news and what it publishes... The only difference compared to fox cnn is that MSNBC does not " attempt to make isreal look good", where actually they should show how fu*cked up isreal is.. if they were liberal...

You think isreal needs more cheerleaders besides fox and cnn?

Remember, isreal is acting like a jerk, and they will be treated like one..

you, eli, cass and some devout isrealis keep try to defend isreal, but its non-sense effort. Its like defending madoff and calling him a "vivtim"..

        Abdallah,

Just because I support Israel doesn't mean that I am Israeli. I happen to be American.

Indeed, MSNBC does not try to make Israel look good, but they do try to make Palestinians look good.

However, they keep failing, because that is an impossible task. You should be able to relate to that since in your attempts to cheer for Palestinians you can never make a logical point. All you have is meaningless slogans and childish insults.

Oh please. Jews who support Judaism, but are opposed to Israel would never thank anyone for murdering their own people. This is quite obviously yet another attempt of the Israeli terrorist state at turning public opinion against their enemies, as they've done time and time again.

"My religion is better than your religion."

"My religion ia the one true religion."

"Anyone who does not believe as we do should be killed."

And on and on and on.

Don't you people see how divisive organized religion is? It's all a load of B.S.!
