Police: Body parts in Vancouver were from Montreal victim

Mourners created a makeshift memorial for murder victim Lin Jun near Concordia University in Montreal, where Lin studied computer science.

Montreal police have confirmed that the human hand and foot sent to schools in Vancouver, B.C. belonged to Lin Jun, the man who was killed and dismembered in May, cbc.ca reported.

Lin’s torso was found in a suitcase left in an alley behind a Montreal apartment building. His other hand and foot were sent to federal political parties in Ottawa, cbc.ca reported. Lin's head remains missing.

Canadian body parts delivered to Vancouver schools

"We can confirm that the two body parts that were found in Vancouver, and the two body parts that were found in Ottawa come from the same body,” Montreal Police Commander Ian Lafrenière told Radio-Canada. He said DNA samples from Lin’s mother and father confirmed the body parts were his.

Luka Rocco Magnotta has been charged in the murder of Jun Lin, a Chinese student.

Police suspect that Luka Rocco Magnotta (born Eric Newman), 29, killed Lin, a 33-year-old student from China who worked part-time at a convenience store, according to the Montreal Gazette. They believe Magnotta filmed the murder and dismemberment, then posted the footage online.

Montreal police say Magnotta filmed Lin's murder and posted it on a website specializing in gore. The video shows a man with an ice pick stabbing another naked, bound male. He also dismembers the corpse and performs sexual acts with it in what police called a horrifying video.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Star has reported that a Montreal high school teacher was suspended for showing students the video, which has circulated on gore sites throughout the web.

The more disturbing factor, I think, is that there is a market for this sort of "film."

And a "teacher" showed the video to his class??? What, exactly, was the class, Dismemberment 101 or Necrophilia 101?

That sure tops the creepy meter, n'est pas?

I used to frequent the site he posted it too; I won't mention it by name for fear of violating the MSNBC TOS, but as a student of political science some of the content featured added a gravitas to the subject matter (wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.) I often deal with that words and media coverage from afar couldn't.

Yes, WMG. The idea of someone WANTING to see a video like that really creeps me out. I was watching a SciFi Documentary last night, and they were talking about the human race eventually evolving into 2 species. One the highly formed intelligent. The other less intelligent, more violent. It looks like it's begun.

As for the gun control freaks. Do we start banning ice picks now?

Janine...very interesting Documentary...yes, please post the title

the human species has already evolved past the now extinct Neandrathal with Homo Sapiens retaining an estimated 1-2% of Neandrathal DNA (helps us deal with cold weather temperatures)

so this sc fi idea may be one possible explanation for this rise in horrific, inhuman crimes...it is an interesting hypothsis worthy of some investigation !

I honestly think people like this guy 'evolve' on their own. It has a lot to do with with upbringing and environmental factors. We all have different potentials based on how we have been raised. For SCI-FI to say that the human race will split in 2 (intelligent & benevolent vs. uneducated & dangerous) is hogwash.... Are all the people currently living in 3rd world countries inherently evil? Are all college graduates benevolent? NO! Intelligent people can actually be the most dangerous. Was Adolf Hitler an idiot? I think not.

Yes Kaybeetoys, it does, doesn't it? And note the teacher who showed this to his/her students was only "suspended". That teacher should have their teaching certificate stripped for life and put in jail for five years. What possible lesson could be taught by that stupid teacher who showed it? Doesn't anyone have a shred of decency anymore?

Ryan Gallacher has a very good point. I took a literature class in college called "Human Depravity" which focused on violence, murder, and sex, and one of the most shocking things I learned was about the link between these sorts of behaviors and intelligence or IQ. The more intelligent someone is, the more they question things, and disregard basic notions of right and wrong. Think of Anders Breivik. Not to say everyone who is intelligent considers these things, obviously, but the vast majority of those who do these things are intelligent. I'd rather be dumb and good than smart and evil.

In fairness, my morbid curiosity got the best of me, and I looked up the video a while back. I watched a couple minutes of it and couldn't continue. I recommend you avoid it... some images will stick with you for quite a while.

There are tons of horrific videos on that site, ranging from crimes to accidents, and it's just incredible (and disturbing) what goes on in the real world. I didn't watch them, but you can still see the thumbnail images, and they're gruesome. I'm not a sheltered person, but when you know the videos are real, it's frightening.

I'm not a bad or twisted person for being curious about the atrocities of our world, and I'm sure a lot of visitors to that site are the same. If you're jerkin' off to the videos, that's one thing, but to be curious about them is another... in my opinion.

I'd rather be smart and good. If you're dumb, how can you even determine what is good from what is evil? If you go by what your priest tells you, you could end up as the victim of a pedophile.

The cops here in Montreal are really sloooooow. These imbeciles still haven't figured out that Lin's head was sent to his parents in China. These morons were told 1 week before the body was found about the video but because of their language barrier, that being French, they dismissed it. When his parents arrive back in China I think their in for a rude awakening.

he's now in a maximum security German prison and not fighting extradition (which people usually do in these circumstances as the complicated German system can delay extradition for years)...

to me, his decision tells me something about how uncomfortable this monster is while encarcerated in this maximum security German prison

I say keep him inside that prison until the courts back home get his case in order

in addition I'd like to see:

a media blackout re photos of this crime

deny him personal news coverage...just cover the story & never the guy...

this way we can prevent him from using the media for his own perverted ends

P.S....absolutely no doubt re his guilt...

he taped himself while committing this crime & posted it on the internet...the actual crime scene also ties him directly to the crime

The reason this disgusting monster isn't fighting extradition to Canada is he knows he'll only get 10-15 years, tops. He may get life, but this guy will get out much earlier. Check out Karla Homolka on google. She sexually tortured two teenage girls, murdered them and served 12 years... oh, and then she was granted a pardon. She was given a plea bargain. I can give more examples of the idiotic justice system here if need be.

You may be surprised how many kids/teens will watch this video and laugh. Back when 8mm film was the only thing available - a student in a local school confessed that he and his classmates had an 8mm film that show a teen being tortured.

These films made their way around the country even without the Internet. Makes some wonder what kind of sick mind could find these 8mm films and actually buy them.

Sadly - the teen (and his friends) thought this torture film was cool.

Most would wonder why any teacher would show this to students. It is true that students can sometimes bypass filters and view these videos without permission. And- there are some really incompetent teachers with computers in their classrooms that they don't supervise properly.

Well if their is say a conspiracy of man or beast to bring out the evil in all of us, it's working. Just about all you see or here about is violence in one form or another. violence is exploding all over the world like never before. It's becoming embedded in our subconscious. It's part of our very fiber. Can or will we make it much further? I don't know. But I'm not taking chances. I'm looking to go up, not down. It'll be a lot less crowded. Meditate a little everyday for good things to happen, and hope for the best. The lines in the sand have been drawn, and the end game is comming. Life on earth is being snuffed out, and by man's own hand. A sole has to go somewhere after death. And in casses like this guy, (arrow pointed down key.)

So then since I know of a few white serial killers all white people must be serial killers? And there is this black crack head I drive by everyday, so therefore all black people are crack heads? I was car jacked a few years ago and the guy was Hispanic, so all Hispanic people must be thieves? "Yes" many people do know you can copy and paste, run spell check and act like Einsteins yourselves or is it yourself? LOL........ I think what the poster was talking about was that there was a report prior to them finding out these body parts belonged to this victim stated that the head was in fact sent to his parents home in China which, as the poster stated, failed to get media coverage due to the language barrier and political BS that surrounds each country. I'm not going to provide a link for said claim because if you "Google" the subject, you should get several hundred links going to said story. Just another hint, just because you read "one story" that claims no other information is available concerning the subject doesn't always mean that it's factual. We here in the USA know this as standard liberal gibberish when the media sources try to out perform one another with opinions, I mean "facts" and sell it to the American people only to later follow up with new breaking information to get more attention and generate more $$$. This is truly horrifying. Makes me want to vomit just thinking about it. The devil really does walk the earth. The video games helped bring him out.

Yep, this is evil personified...scary. And no, I don't think that the 'deterrent' of capital punishment would have made a difference here.

MER,,,here's an idea for the high school teacher,,AND,,whoever watched the film on the internet,,,

IF,,they can track, who watches child pornography,,THEN,,,track who watches this $hit,,,AND,,,charge them as an accessory after the fact,,and put everyone of them in prison,,AND,,the worst offenders,,AKA:High School Teacher,,,DEATH,,that way,,,you cut the head off the dragon

I have never worried that much about the perps,,that make these films,,I'm more worried that there is a market for it,,,what about the strange, little weirdos,,the little teenage ba$tards that get a kick out of it.I think a little term in prison would redefine,,"post education",,,let those little twirps become a lifers,,"rag-doll".

Death penalty? In Canada? First of all, they don't have it. Second, he'll get "life" but be out in 15 years, mark my words. The justice system here is a JOKE.

Too bad they don't have the death penalty in Canada. This POS surely deserves it if anyone does!

Why are some so bent on being grammatically PC, correcting each and every bloggers post until the topic of discussion becomes secondary, if at all? Berndog shared a valid point of view yet Scales is all over him like the heavy handed wooden ruler type teacher. As long as we get the gist of what someone's conveying, who gives a pink pertater how they spell? Lighten up folks:)

In the US, we are too tolerant of murderers; there's no deterrant. Life in prison? Three hots, a cot, and an opportunity to get a bachelor's degree so they can become lawyers.

Where is the dis-incentive for crime?

Looks like another Ted Bundy type. Only execution could fix the problem then and there is no curing this one, either.
