At least 2 killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza

A Palestinian firefighter tries to extinguish a fire following an Israeli air strike in Gaza City, early Saturday.

GAZA -- Israel launched air raids on Hamas security targets in Gaza on Saturday, reportedly killing at least two Palestinians and injuring at least 21 others, including four children.

The raids were launched after militants in Gaza stepped up rocket attacks, wounding an Israeli man.

The escalating violence threatened to unravel Wednesday's shaky Egyptian-brokered truce which had temporarily calmed violence that erupted on Monday after a raid across Egypt's Sinai border in which an Israeli man and two gunmen were killed.

The Israeli Defense Force said in a statement that it had "targeted a terrorist squad during preparations to fire a rocket at Israel from the central Gaza Strip" Friday, according to BBC News.

The BBC said that attacked killed a man called Bazel Ahmed and that a second air strike killed an 18-year-old, who the IDF said had been part of a group firing rockets.

Hamas: Boy, 6, dies
Hamas medical officials said a third Israeli air raid killed a six-year-old boy at a soccer field near the town of Khan Younis, and wounded two other people. They said a baby was wounded in a separate attack in Rafah, at the Egypt border.

An Israeli military spokeswoman, commenting on the boy's death, said: "an initial examination shows the military was not involved in this incident." She had no immediate comment on the report about the baby.

At least two killed in attack on Israel-Egypt border

The Israeli strikes were reported after the worst rocket assault in six days of fighting. One projectile slammed into the Israeli town of Sderot wounding an Israeli man in the neck just as he was trying to enter a concrete shelter.

The rocket was one of more than 50 fired into Israel, nearly 10 times the number fired on Friday, the military said. At least six other rockets were intercepted by an Israeli missile defense system.

Reuters contributed to this report.

It starts with rockets being fired from Gaza every time. Very easy solution:

Don't randomly fire rockets into Israel, killing innocent people - then Israel won't retaliate. Very, very simple. There is absolutely no question that the Palestinians bring this upon themselves every time it happens. They fired 50 rockets into an Israeli city in one day for Pete' sake. We're supposed to feel bad for them? They elected their government who obviously wants war.

I think the biggest enemy in all of this is the media with their half-a$$ed, cockeyed way of reporting this stuff. Why does it always appear that the arab nations are the victims in all of these stories. Who goes out of their way to find a dead child to exploit in each and every one of these stories ? Are there no children in Israel , or are they quick enough to get out of the way, or, are the arabs missles warheads so weak that they have no killing power ? WAKE UP EVERYONE !!!! WERE BEING TOLD FAIRY TALES. IF YOU TRUST THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA YOU'RE A FOOL!!!!!

Gaza Islamic terrorists have started each and every attack- the Al-Qaeda suicide attackers were one Egyptian and the other a Saudi- video of Jihad - the Muhajeedin for Shura of Al Quds-then Hamas military wing firing rockets into Israel - so far over 135 this week by the way. The 6 yr old boy allegedly killed by IDF playing with two others on a playground and touching shellings have been reported to having taken place in Beif Lahia north of Gaza Strip (http://www.rt.com/news/line/2012-06-23) and SE Gaza Strip in Khan Younis (http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/716627.shtml . In China- no mention of any rockets fired into Israel. Did AFP/Al Jazeera mix their stories again, since the 6 yr old boy's story illustrates. Why is Hamas/Islamic Jihad/Salafists/al Shure Mujaheedin now firing rockets/missiles into Israel? For Syria- Iran-Hizbollah the fraternite aux terrorisme

You are forgetting that all military news from Israel is issued by the goverment. Their is no way to tell who started this. I would say Israel started this do to the fact that Palestine is getting closer to becoming a country. If Palestine becomes a country BEFORE any peace agreement is made the borders will be the 1967 Green line. Jerusalem will become the capital of Palestine at the same time.

Israel this Israel that. Shut up!

If 50 I said 50 rockets where used to attack the united states populated areas we would eventual flatten the entire area.

Israel is better at it than you, why would you continually attack them? Must not like life.

Actually we should be commending Israel's patience, and civility.

What about the Palestinians showing some self governing capabilities and arresting the instigators?

should we allow people to own let alone fire rockets into Mexico? Absolutely not!

If you want to understand something, look at motivations. Israel has nothing to gain politically by attacking Gaza and killing kids at random, while Hamas has to keep stoking the fires to justify their existence. Israel loses a little bit of moral high ground every time they attack Palestinian civilians so they're not going to initiate these things. It's easy to spot the aggressor in these little tiffs if you use a bit of logic.

Mary Mary Mary. Learn how to spell and write English. It must be your second language. If the jackasses in the gaza want to fire rockets then lets fire rockets. Al Capone was quoted as saying" If someone messes with me, I'll mess with them back". Of course these idiots want to sow problems in any peace negotiations. They think that it's OK to lob rockets at Israel, or anyone else, because they are infidels.

I say tell the UN to back off and let them go at it. It won't take long. Israel would roll them up like an old rug. If they want to say that they own the land because they ruled it first, then lets give it to the descendants of Alexander the Great, Rome, or even the Ottomans. Oh but they don't have any rights because they are infidels.

The muslim idiots will continue to screw with Israel until they get burned. I wish Israel would unleash at all these muslims and nuke them all. There is not one good muslim in the world, and we would be better off without them. 97% of every war going on in the world today involves muslims.... get rid of them first in this country and the rest at our leasure. They hate us and want us dead, so we need to get them first.

Our news absolutely paints a different picture. I've personally had the privilege of visiting a kind Palestinian man whose home was being overtaken by Jewish settlers from New York, as well as a man whose innocent father was injured by Israeli attacks. I've met with Palestinian students who are unable to obtain a job in their field of training due solely to being Palestinian. I've passed checkpoints that hinder Palestinian individuals' ability to travel to their jobs or anywhere, for that matter. I've seen how the land all of a sudden becomes more beautiful and kept-up when crossing from the West Bank into Israel proper. I've visited a refugee camp situated by the wall that divides the people of this region. I've also talked to Israelis whose stories don't match up with those of the Palestinians. In my opinion, there is a huge misunderstanding between the Israeli and Palestinian people. But one thing I do know is that innocent people are being killed all around. It's unwise to make judgments based on the media without actually experiencing the situation.

Lyle,

If you nuke Israel you are still left with quite a few Islamic theocracies. Yes Israel spies on the U.S. government, but given our track record I would do the same. I would like to know when America was going to send Walmart into my country to destabilize my economy.

Israel didnt fly planes into the twin towers and the Muslims didnt do it because of Israel.

Muslims havent destabilized northern Africa because of Israel.

Muslims arent killing people in the Philippines because of Israel.

You are either ignorant, pro Islam, or Anti-Semitic.

Im going with the latter.

I've personally had the privilege of visiting a kind Palestinian man whose home was being overtaken by Jewish settlers from New York,

Where? Gaza? West Bank?

I think you are posting a bunch of rhetoric to push your agenda. Typical liberal tactics. Lets not think about the 50 or so rockets fired into Israel in the last month. Lets try to paint an American face on a "kind Palestinian man". Try to spin it as if that person had the same rights and privileges that you spit upon.

It is like the no WMD lunacy. Do you liberals even know what a WMD is? Ricin is a WMD. We found plenty of it in Iraq. But our front line wasnt hit by a 5 megaton nuclear weapon so they didnt have any WMD's, right? Oh and Saddam had one of the largest collections of chemical weapons, WMD's, of any country in the world. Think im some idiot right winger? Go ask the Kurds if Iraq possessed WMD's.

In closing I find it very funny that some basement jockies have more compassion for the Palestinian people then their neighbors do. If a Palestinian is caught crossing into Egypt he gets shot. Why dont you weekend scholars spend some time checking statistics. I suggest you compare the amount of Palestinians killed by Egypt compared to Israel.

That's why the Palestians should stop illegal building. They have a country made just for them where THEY are the MAJORITY. Its called JORDAN. Its MUCH LARGER than Israel. Right around the time the Arabs Got Saudi Arabia, Iraq Syria Lebanon in addition to existing countries Egypt Morocco, Tunisia= a pretty GOOD DEAL....the Jews were allocated less than 1% and the Arabs and the so called "Palestinians's cried boo-hoo foul! So they chiseled JORDAN out of it and left Israel with less than 0.5 %. This "outrage" inspired 5 Arab nations to attack leaving Israel with less than 0.2%. Now that Gaza is "Hamastan"...Israel is with 0.1%. There are No Jews in Gaza to kill so they lob rockets(launched from: near where children play) by the dozens aimed at cities in Israel. There are some Arabs living in Judea- its pronounced "Jewdia" for a reason. Jews have made it their homeland for 3500 years. (BTW: That's longer than the Lakota have been living in Dakota by 3200years.) Arabs are trying to steal it. They renamed it "West Bank". They built their government offices in "Ramallah" but they'd rather steal Jewrusalem. Get it?

Israel vacated Gaza, let the Palestinians vote their own government and they got Hamas, which has proceeded to launch about 14000 rockets at civilian Israel in the last 5 years. The conflict between the Palestinians and Israel is not about the land. It's about the Palestinians desire to eliminate Israel completely. The Palestinians refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist.

While I do appreciate the response, the need to lob an insult within the first paragraph negates anything you have to say in my opinion. When a person asks a question in all seriousness, a terse civilized dialogue can then be exchanged.

I would expect more from a person with your icon. Speaking of which; Marvin is a cartoon character, nothing more. He actually wanted to "Blow up the Earth because it obstructs his view of Venus". I chose the icon because I imitate the voice well, R.I.P Mel Blanc.

    Thanks for your reply.

I simply replied to your question. I presume you are a thinking person and you were not merely asking a rhetorical question. How wrong I was. Now that you have gone out of your way to imagine an insult so you can dismiss "________" ...i.e, you can ignore history (and civil discours: in this case, truth as it is on the ground. How convenient. I could have wrote "civilized person" but, as you NOW indicate that civility is your ideal but, in the light of your response it is now easy to see you would manufactor an "insult" out of that too. The "peace be" parting salutation is merely a scheme to appear to be taking "the moral high ground" Nice, but not a substitute for a sound opinion.

So ignore me but, please respond to "Lars" instead. He points out; in so many words, that Israel obstructs Gazan's view of Jordan.

I haven't read about even one Israeli casualty in the past 6 months from rockets fired from Gaza. Since there are no independent observers allowerd in Israel, the only versions we get on the Zionist controlled news media, are the Israeli versions.

The Arabs trapped in Gaza are probably upset that their land was stolen and some of tgheir ancestors killed, to make a homeland for European Jews. Since the US sides with Israel on every issue, the Palestinians have no recourse other than violence, of which a few have resorted. Israel insists on collective punishment of the many, including on women and children, to discourage the few. I know if one of my children or parents had been killed by the IDF, I would be among the few, seeking revenge in any way I could manage.

"Jewish villages were built in the place of Arab villages. You do not
even know the names of these Arab villages, and I do not blame you because
geography books no longer exist. Not only do the books not exist, the Arab
villages are not there either. Nahlal arose in the place of Mahlul; Kibbutz
Gvat in the place of Jibta; Kibbutz Sarid in the place of Huneifis; and Kefar
Yehushua in the place of Tal al-Shuman. There is not a single place built in
this country that did not have a former Arab population."

Moshe Dayan, address to the Technion, Haifa, reported in
    Haaretz, April 4, 1969.

I know some Zionist is going to try to imply the Jews bought all those villages and towns, but no one has seen the deeds. Also, the last time I looked, there was no deed from God, either.

"If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel.
It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us,
but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti -
Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault ? They see but
one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept
    that?"

David Ben Gurion (first Israeli PM, quoted by Nahum Goldmann
in Le Paraddoxe Juif (The Jewish Paradox), pp121.

"We must do everything to ensure they [the Palestinian refugees] never
do return... The old will die and the young will forget."

David Ben-Gurion, in his diary, 18 July 1948, quoted in
    Michael Bar Zohar's Ben-Gurion: the Armed Prophet, Prentice-Hall, 1967, p. 157.

"We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation, and
the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab

Great Post. Too bad majority of Israel/Zionist sympathizers are so severely brainwashed, that they cannot see the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians or the Apartheid rule of Israel. How do you expect a population to react, when you steal their homeland, rob them of the most basic human rights, built a wall going through their living rooms?

Yep, they fired a rocket, lets kill these "militants" and take more of their land and build settlements so more jews can be shipped there, who have no right to be there. But you know these are "the chosen people of God". Shame on you.

@RalphH..... Interesting..... Lets take what you said as true for the discussion's sake. Also lets assume every thing from the media is Pro-Israel or more specifically Anti-Palestinian. In one of the latest "propaganda" from Israel is the bulldozing of Israeli settlements by Israel in accordance with "supposed" peace/ceasefire agreements. This angered the ultra conservative Jews and cause the Prime Minister much trouble.. If this was staged it was very good because it caused him to lose seats in parliament.

The rocket attacks decreased from the usual 50-60 a day to 5-10 during that period. This lasted for about 2wks then a "hiccup" in talks resulted in more rockets. Now other than reducing the number to rockets... tell me sir: What has the Palestinians done in the way of concessions? What "olive branch" you have offered that wasn't in the way of demand that Israel Immediately , with the stroke of a pen, provide land up to and to include Jerusalem? Have you changed the your schools' curriculum that all Jews should be "wiped out"?

Sir you admit in your diatribe that Israel has all of the advantages. As I stated in the beginning, lets assume you are right, They have (compared to Palestine) superior firepower, media backing, financial/military support via USA, and enough "propaganda" about rockets to just plow Palestine under. So lets just assume Palestine gets their way. Borders are redrawn. Jerusalem is now Palestinian... Would you stop there? If the situation was reversed would you NOT use your superiority to "push Israel into the sea"? (that is a direct quote from one of Palestine (Hamas) leaders. Last question... given what I just said and the above article... Who is really showing "restraint and civility"?

Not that I'm for one side or the other but don't throw stone's and then complain you have to pay for the window as the palistinian's do looking for humanitarian sympathy.

When you dont have the support of the US and dont have money, you fight with with what you have. And when your life is on the line, you fight with with who ever threatens your life! You wouldnt understand, because you grew up (im assuming) in America and dont have this kind of life....neither do i, however i can sympathise, because i know many in Europe and especially from the Kosovo who had problems with the Serbs....we will never uderstand that...we sit behind our computers watching these people, while listening to our ipods, while watching 200 channels on cable, and still insist there is nothing to watch....we take things for granted. been brainwashed lately? I know many muslims, and they are ALL peaceful people. I know many Isreali's and the same...they are peaceful people. The problem here is that, the extremists, no matter what religion, be it muslim, or christianity, the extremists are nuts no matter which religion they belong to! To say that muslims revere death, is like saying christian men love to rape little boys! You have been brainwashed by our media into thinking this "israeli" government can do no wrong...you are sadly mistaken. These palestinians are merely fighting to stay alive! However we report them as terrorists....not the big government that is shooting them with their missiles and and military? I guess kind of like when we took out Sadam husein, by looking for WMD's, and even after we wrong....didnt matter, we still killed him and mant civilians....yet we are great? I am ashamed, not because this country isnt great, but because we have let ourselves become so naive, that we elect officials who use fear, and we believe them, and support their invasion of another country....we were the terrorist in that country if you look at it from their prospective!

They would start with showing the attacks on the news so people could see that they were not just propaganda or an inside job to get them in the war they so desperately desire. That would be my first guess, since the rocket attacks probably never really happend and if they did Mossad probably launched them.

chefaz - Those Muslims had help from Zionists. Those fools could never have accomplished what was done without inside help. Isn't it strange how the only 3 buildings that fell were owned by the same Jew, who had heavily insured them for billions against a terror attack, in the months before the attacks. All 3 buildings fell into their own footprints as in a CONTROLLED DEMOLITION.

Here are a few links to the truth. There is no way in hell that Bldg 7 was not rigged to fall in a controlled demolition. It is the smoking gun, although there are hundreds of other indications this was an inside job.

If Israel had actually been attacked by rockets it would be all over the news. I wouldn not doubt it if Israel launched some rockets into their own territory and then blamed someone on their list so they can start something again. Its funny how we just take Israel's word for everything like we did Bush W. when he lied about yellow cake and WMD's to get us into the Iraq war or the lie about the Gulf of Tonkin in the 60's that got us into the Vietnam War. It would be nice if there were some real journalists left and not just talking heads that parrot what the government tells them happend. Oh but thats right Israel is known for not letting journalists have access and have actually killed several with snipers. If they haven't done anything wrong what do they have to hide from the journalists?

Ophotfoot - You are either totally ignorant of the history of Hamas and Fatah and how they have used a perpetual jihad aganist Israel as a means to develop multi-million dollar terrorist organizations that coninually create unrest and tension in the Middle East or are simply too young or naive to be able to separate sh_t from shinola. It's easy to run your mouth selectively about historical incidents leaving out "the rest of the story". Your reference to Vietnam leaves out the mass killings and military incursions that prompted JFK to send in special forces in 1960 AND the North Vietnanese combat patrol boats that were threatening ships in the Gulf, just as you leave out the fact that Saddam had violated the 1991 surrender agreement as well as killing over 100,000 Kurds and Iraqis WITH sarin and blood agents which ARE weapons of mass destruction Gomer. Israel does not hide from journalists, and if many of the journalists that hang around the Mediteranean beaches in Tel Aviv would get their butts to the borders they would see first hand the continual state of fear Israelis have to live with because the West keeps kow-towing to fundamentalist elements keeping Israel from annihilating them - as they did with Arafat's forces in Lebanon. Your view is the "talking parrot" view and one we continually hear from the left. Get your ass over there yourself and live in a border town before you opine and embarass yourself futher.

No bigdaddy, the idiots are those that believe that the hijackers acted alone, without inside help and help from Israel. You and fools like George Bush and Dick Cheney are the ones ruining America. The Iraq war will cost over 3.5 trillion dollars. What has any liberal done to top that stupidity? I bet you voted for Bush twice, which is the epitome of stupid.

Zionist warmongers like Ken Adelman and the Zionist Washington Post pushed the war in
an editorial titled, “Cakewalk in Iraq.” Jewish supremacists Richard Perle and
Paul Wolfowitz told you that Iraq would “Welcome us as liberators.” Iraq became
the longest war in American history. Here is a report from USA Today: “Pentagon
officials estimated for the first time Wednesday that up to 360,000 Iraq and
Afghanistan veterans may have suffered traumatic brain injuries.” Now that’s
not counting tens of thousands who have suffered maiming, amputations, or death
in this war based on lies.

The definition of stupid was listening to the neocons who sold the war to Bush and those fools that voted to authorize the attacks on Iraq. The right wing, Zionist media was also front and center.

When Palestinians choose to overthrow leaders that continue to sing the matra of destroy Israel and the West they will deserve better treatment, but as long as they remain puppets to splinter groups of crazies getting their pay-checks from the Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist organizations they can rot in their homes in Gaza - that are far from being concentration camps.

What does anyone expect ? These terrorist plant themselves in and around civilians and do their dirty deeds launching rockets and trying to kill as many civilians who they see as their target and want to kill. These are the most dangerous type people imaginable.

Imagine if YOU were living under these conditions. These attacks must be stopped.

WE think we have problems here at home. Illegal immigrants, poor ecomony, distrust for the POLITICAL POWERS, very frustrated with the misuse of our tax dollars and our forgein policy. Here at home we have our own types of prejudices and fears. But, WE DO live in an enviroment where our government mostly works and things are being controlled keeping us as safe as possible so we don't have to live with being bombed and internally attacked EVERY DAY.

Beside having a good system here our location in the world helps protect us to a large degree. The United States has so many businesses and civilians all over the world that sure we have to have interest about what happens all over.

The worlds a stage and we are all actors. When these true to life events happen people do die. Unrepairable harm will occur. Because of the BAD people who continue to attack and do what they do ( and there are alot of them ) we will continue to expect this to go on and on and on. It's all about POWER and CONTROL. When will somebody ever figure out that no-one should ever have so much Power or Control that it gives them the right to do these horrible acts.

FRan NJ - nice post, but humans never can, have never been, nor will they ever be able to rise about their greed, jeolousy, envy, lust, and thirst for power and control. THAT is the lesson of history and one that every philosopher from Aristotle to Sartre have accurately described. It is also the reason why there ALWAYS has to be a mechanism of control to prevent chaos from ruling. In Israel AND the USA, it's the military, and not talking heads, academics, or politicians that sometimes epitomize all the negative aspects mentioned above, that exists as teh final deterrant when humans give in to the darker side of their nature.

JP, please allow me to correct you. I am not anti-semitic, just anti Zionist. Having been there, I think I have a relatively good idea of how the system works there. Having lived on a Kibbutz whose original members bragged that they stole the land from Palestinian shepherds in the middle of the night, I think I understand what the history of Israel and its criminal beginnings are.

BTW, being a theist or an atheist has nothing to do with the understanding that Israel is built on lies and greed.

I do not blame you for exposing your Zionist bias by calling the truthful history of Israel BS, that has been the policy of extremist liars for decades.

Sorry, your lies are only adding to the future death of Israel. When the Palestinians get the war tools used by the Israeli bullies, Israel will cease to exist. They have set in motion the inevitable.

Kibbutz Dalia, winter and spring of 1971-2. The leadership at Dalia asked me to stay and become a member. Thanks, but no thanks.

I also walked through Palestinian villages that had been raped by Israeli troops just 4 years before and had the opportunity to talk to them. Israel was clearly the most fascist country I traveled through. That included Greece under the Colonels, Spain under Franco, Italy under the Pope, and W. Germany under US military domination.

It did not take much of an open mind to see who was lying through their teeth to get more land.

I think we all now know who the moron is. Being a creep and an imbecile does not make you look any better except to the folks in your trailer park.

PS, I do not want to step foot in the Middle East, Period! Israel has made it a death trap for all. Just a matter of time before the Zionists are eliminated from the face of the earth as a result of their own making.

          Tex -

You could legitimately argue that Israel should not have been established. It was that whole Nazi, concentration camp, Holocaust thing, ya' know?

However, it was established and these are people who have the nearly solo universal right to survive. Your hatred of Zionists doesn't negate that. Your disdain for those who disagree with you doesn't negate that (trailer park, indeed).

Few thinking and learned people here buy into the poor, brave, freedom-fighters (Hamas, etc.) who have to launch their rockets from civilian rooftops, etc. etc.

The "evil Zionists" will not go quietly, nor should they. If the are eleiminated from the face of the earth, they will leave behind unusable glass parking lots as a result. And, I, for one, applaud them.

You applaud them because, like them, you must be a sick, twisted sob. Did you applaud the work of the Zionists on 9/11, when they set off the nano thermite charges, which destroyed the 3 towers and the people inside them? The attack enabled the Zionists to have America attack Iraq, resulting in a war which will end up costing America over 3.5 trillion dollars.

Israeli military historian, Martin van Creveld, who in 2010 said that “Israel
could find itself one day forced to exterminate the European continent using all
kinds of weapons including its nuclear arsenal if it felt its demise neared,”
and stressed that “Israel also considers Europe a hostile target.”

“We have hundreds of nuclear warheads and
missiles that can reach different targets in the heart of the European
continent, including beyond the borders of Rome, the Italian capital,” Creveld
said, adding that most of the European capitals would become preferred targets
          for the Israeli air force.

He reiterated “Israel’s ability to destroy the
whole world whenever it felt its existence would be doomed to extinction.”

Remember the multiple and repeated attacks on the Liberty in 1967? That is how Israel will treat its friends if they think they are threatened. We should have eliminated Israel then, now it may be too late. One lesson from history is that whenever one side in a conflict has a technical advantage over the other, that side can bully the other only for a while. Eventually, the other side will get the technical tools to even the score. When that happens in the Middle East, Israel will be dust. I am not hoping that will happen, only cognizant that it WILL!

Oh, BTW, let's not forget the thousands of religious fanatics in America that pray every day that the bombs go off in the ME to start what they believe is the rapture time. Voting for Romney only increases their influence.

Sorry, mpa, but the Zionist thing started long before the concentration camp thing. It may have been politically correct to support a homeland for the Jews who suffered in Europe but that was not the reason America did so. American foreign policy makers determined that it would be to our advantage to have a puppet in the region because of the OIL there. It has not worked out exactly as planned has it? The existence of Israel IS the dominant reason for conflict in the area and will be until Israel is eliminated. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, that will most likely come with a high price tag, something like global nuclear war.

I dont know who you have been hanging with lately, but I believe the majority of intelligent and educated people understand that without the bully tactics of the Israelis, Hamas and its violent adherents would not ever have come into existence. You seem offended that they are 'poor, brave, freedom-fighters.'

Poor - correct. Brave - well at least they don't hide behind American tanks as they roll over children in the occupied neighborhoods. Freedom-fighters - I guess you could think of them as part of the Knesset plan, kinda stretching it but who knows?

Correction, they stole Judea from the Palestinian herders, They stole the Golan Heights from Syria, the southern part of Lebanon, the Negev, Jerusalem, and the Sinai. Granted, they gave back the Sinai, it was largely uninhabitable. Get it?

Under international law, any Jewish settlements built on occupied territory are illegal. These include 200 or so settlements in the West Bank, and thousands of Jewish homes in East Jerusalem. The majority of settlers into these stolen lands are from the USA. The rabid extremists coming out of the Zionist communities in Brooklyn are the base of the problem.

The worst case of anti-semitism in the world today is the policy of land theft by Israel.

Correction: They liberated East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria from Jordan who had illegally occupied it. They captured the Golan after Syria attacked Israel from those heights. They captured Gaza and the Sinai from Egypt in response to Egyptian aggression. The Negev has always been part of Israel proper as declared during partition in '48.

          Try again.

Would you wait for your neighbors to kill your dog, or would you react immediately upon seeing that your neighbors abusing it? It is no fault of Israel that they posses more sophisticated weapons. They use what they have to protect their country. Besides, if Palestinian terrorists didn't hide behind civilians while perpetrating their crimes, there would be no civilian casualties. Sheer antisemitism that drives a lot of people in this chat blinds them from seeing the simple truth - Palestinians don't want peace, they want destruction of Israel.

I'm just saying that if nothing matters then how can you hold Israel or anyone responsible for their actions? Morality becomes relative and anyone can do what they want without fear of punishment. That's not the world we live in. We all have an innate sense of justice and morals. I don't think it is a coincidence that different societies with different values have similar views of what is right and wrong. And you're right that this transcendental sense of morality existed before Judaism, funny thing, God is eternal and He existed before Judaism too. Truth dictates reality, so if what we observe in reality does not correlate with our postulation of the truth, then what we claim to be true cannot be true. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Choose to believe what you will as all do through free will. I was just trying to point out your contradiction in logic. If it doesn't matter then we shouldn't complain because there is no morality and no justice. Things are what they are for no purpose so we can all kill to our hearts content. Such is not the case in observable reality, however.

I see a middle ground between total acquiescence to religious, faith based dicta of behavior and all out 'who cares'. It comes from millennia of learning how to live with our neighbors in the experience. It is possible to find people all over the world who do not follow a particular religious belief system but who live decent lives based on that learned knowledge. No voodoo, no kidding. There is no logical conundrum here.

Morality is faith based, decent behavior is learned.

Unfortunately, there are many among us who cannot stand to live next door to someone who does not fall before the alter that they do. This comes from deep seated insecurities that demand no exceptions to the belief system that sustains their weak self images and intellects.

Science is the intellectual evolution of the knowledge that we are insignificant and that there are NO absolutes. Religious folks still have a foot dragging in the mud of the need for those absolutes to make their lives bearable because they cannot envision the reality exposed to us by science. It is a sad commentary on the state of mental health in a modern world.

BTW, my ancestors quit the Flat Earth Society a thousand or so years ago.

PS, using logic to substantiate religious beliefs is like mixing water and oil - doesn't work, never did, never will.

Just a thought from your quote: "there are NO absolutes" is an absolute statement and therefore, nullifies itself as a logical argument for the nonexistence of absolutes.

We should stop supporting Israel and let God return to the job He started, defending Israeli land grabs. That way the Israelites can go back to killing all the men, women and children, killing all the Palestinian livestock "and everything that breatheth", and cutting down all their olive trees -- as originally commanded.

Why would God do that? You're missing much of those stories which include the why aspect, as well as the various merciful aspects to the accounts. We can't just pick and choose the parts we want to believe. In the case of the Amalekites, God had given them 200 years to do what was right. Instead, they chose to continue sacrificing children to Baal and various other gods. The merciful aspect of it is this, that the Kenites were spared because they showed kindness to the Israelites. Righteous judgement is at the forefront of what God did. Someday, we will all be judged righteously and most of us will not be happy about the verdict.

Who is missing what my friend ? The "Lord" was very upset with Saul for not carrying out his plans . Many years before Saul’s birth, the Lord said to Moses, “Inscribe this in a document as a reminder, and read it aloud to Joshua: I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven!” Blotting out the remembrance means extermination, and in I Samuel 15, it falls belatedly to Saul to wreak the Lord’s bloody revenge. The Lord warns him not to show any mercy and says:

"I am exacting the penalty for what Amalek did to Israel, for the assault he made upon them on the road, on their way up from Egypt. Now go, attack Amalek, and proscribe all that belongs to him. Spare no one, but kill alike men and women, infants and sucklings, oxen and sheep, camels and asses!"

Saul’s downfall comes about when he fails to execute properly the Lord’s sworn judgment.

Saul invites the Kenites, a clan living with the Amalekites, to flee: “Come, withdraw at once from among the Amalekites, that I may not destroy you along with them; for you showed kindness to all the Israelites when they left Egypt” (15:6). True enough: Moses’ wife and father-in-law were Kenites, and the tribe did assist the Israelites. But mercy for the Kenite sucklings was not among the Lord’s instructions to Saul. Worse, Saul takes the Amalekite king captive rather than kill him, and, worst of all, he takes the best of the sheep and cattle as battle spoils rather than destroy them. For these actions, and greatly to the grief of Samuel, the Lord turns against Saul.

Seeing that the Amalekites were judged for striking down the weakest and youngest of the Israelites in their journey through the desert, it doesn't make any sense that the Kenites were involved in that attack. Otherwise, they would not have said that they showed kindness to the Israelites in the desert. They too would have been subject to the judgement which was appointed. Saul let one Amalekite live, the king. Perhaps the Kenites were not synonymous with the Amalekites and did not participate in their practices? Furthermore, Samuel did not bring the Kenites up as an issue with Saul but Samuel did mention Saul's disobedience in slaying all of the Amalekites (Agag) and their cattle.

God used aerial bombs on Soddom and Gomorrah, so they are clearly allowed according to the Bible.

Car bombs, on the other hand, are never mentioned in the Bible, so God must not allow Jews and Christians to use them.

Now the Koran specifically mentions car bombs as legitimate, so Muslims can go to heaven and receive their 72 virgins if the die in a car bombing.

I hope this helps to clarify the differences in killing in God's name.

Twas not an argument between Lee and I . Lee made a point and I responded and then he likewise . Secondly the Tanakh is a very real book which contains a historical account of the Israelite religious beginnings. Furthermore it is a literary piece of gold that introduces for the first time monotheism .
Another creatively strange feature of the Tanakh from a purely literary perspective is that the protagonist {Elohim, Yahweh , The Lord } has no history , no social aspect with other gods , no lover , no experience . We see this protagonist unfold and develope through his created image as the Tanakh progresses . Because I do not believe in something as a religious foundation for myself does not mean I do not find the Tanakh beyond fascinating .

Actually the modern Palestinians are not descendants of the Amalekites, since all of the Amalekites were wiped from the face of the earth. They're more likely Philistines otherwise known as Canaanites.

They are Arabs that drifted in from all over. for Instance, Arafat was from Egypt as was Edward Said. The walk like Amalekites. quack like Amalekites and sacrifice their Children to their god like Amalekites. And when they do 72 of their relatives accompany the Shahid to a guaranteed spot in Muslim Paradise. Thats why they throw parties and hand out candy on the street to passers by.

Also the Hebrew conquests were limited to a very small geographic area (the Holyland) and the few obscure peoples they battled or absorbed. The Koran and Hadiths spells out Christians and Jews and how deal with them and all other people on the planet.

I think it's interesting how God commanded the nation of Israel not to intermarry and form alliances with most of the ancient Canaanites as to do so would lead to a tolerance of their practices and the eventual conglomeration of ideas and religious practices that were contradictory to the traditional Judaic practices. Some people claim that the Jewish people were Gods pets, but i don't think so. There is a huge conditional aspect to the possession of the promised land as outlined various times in Old Testament writings. Hence we have the Babylonian captivity and the routing by the Assyrians and the Persians. Furthermore, Hebrews chapter 12 explains just how a loving Father disciplines those he calls his own. We also see that the whole point was to bring about the messiah, Jesus who would bring peace and good will unto the whole world (including the gentiles). The whole overflowsing story of the Bible is a pretty amazing thing, at least to me.

The Gazaonians are very aware of the almost daily rockets, mortars and missiles being fired into civilian targets in Israel.. They are also being ruled by a political party that is on the acknowledged list of TERRORISTS by the United States, as well as most other countries.. Those of their people who seek martyrdom by attempting to kill, assassinate or kidnap civilians are the TERRORISTS. Israel is obligated to defend it's civilians. Israel has expressed regret that others may be killed or harmed by them defending themselves agains these TERRORIST attacks from Hamas and Hisbullah many times. Have the Arab Palestinians ever once even apologized for the intentional rocketing of a school bus? Israel offers Arab Palestinians PEACE without any conditions.. The Arab Palestinians being ruled by Hamas an Hisbullah promise never to accept PEACE with Israel. Arab Palestinians teach their children songs of hatred and martyrdom. Until Palestinian Arabs throw off the yoke of war born on them by Hamas and Hisbullah (sponsored by such countries as Iran), Israel will always be defending it's civilians against such TERRORISTS..

                  Truism,

So by your logic, if you are in a Bank that is being robbed by criminals with guns pointed at you, you just have to sit there and wait for them to shoot you! To help you a little, here, the bank is a metaphor for the Middle East, the criminals are the religious right wing zealots calling themselves Zionists, and the folks sitting on the floor are Palestinians... Get it?

BTW, I have spent a year in Israel working with some of the most delusional liars in history, you?

Does your choice of handles on the vine give you more credibility? LOL

Begin, the hero of the right wing extremist Zionists was a TERRORIST before the Palestinians knew what the word meant. Curious how the propaganda machine out of Tel Aviv has done everything they could to hide that fact from the world. Tells us a lot about the honesty of the Zionist movement.

The Koenig memorandom - From Wikipedia

Domestically in Israel, the memorandum’s publication was received with a generally more muted response. The Israeli newspaper, Yediot Aharonot reported on September 7 that senior elements close to the Prime Minister attached importance to the Koenig report. Israeli radio on September 8 reported that Interior Minister, Yosef Burg, reacted to the document’s publication by saying that he had complete faith in Mr. Koenig.[9]

On September 9, Haaretz newspaper reported that Amos Eiran, Director General of the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, deplored the "leaking" of the Koenig Report by Al-Hamishmar, but no governmental figures repudiated its recommendations.[7]

Ahmad H. Sa'di, a lecturer in the Department of Politics and Government at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel claims that "The racist language of the Report and its draconian suggestions caused wide-ranging indignation by Palestinians. However, State officials dismissed this reaction as unwarranted. They maintained that the Report represented the opinion of its author(s), and did not represent an official policy nor did it reflect the mode of thinking in decision-making circles. The debates that followed the Report's publication have mostly centered on the limits of freedom of expression (and racism) that civil servants ought to observe, instead of dealing with the premises of the State policy towards the minority."[4]

                  [edit] Main content

The first section of Koenig's report is entitled, "The Demographic Problem and the Manifestations of Arab Nationalism."[2] In this section, Koenig claims that the Arab population of the Galilee region would constitute a majority (51%) of the population there by 1978 and that this, along with rising "nationalistic" sentiments "will endanger our control of that area."[2] He then proceeds to review the organizational capabilities of the Rakah party, foreshadowing and reflecting the important role they played in Land Day demonstrations that took place on March 30, 1976, in which six Arab citizens of Israel were killed by the IDF and Israel Police.

In her book, "The Fate of the Jews: A People Torn Between Israeli Power and Jewish Ethics", Roberta Strauss Feuerlicht summarizes some of the major strategic objectives and tactical steps endorsed by The Koenig Memorandum, as follows:

                  • To preclude any possibility of an (independent, Arab) political union, Koenig recommended building more Jewish settlements in areas that are predominantly Arab.
                  • Hostile Arab leaders should be replaced by compliant ones, whom Israel was to ‘create.’ Koenig wanted the number of Arab intellectuals reduced, because their frustration is potentially dangerous. He would encourage "the channeling of [Arab] students into technical professions, the physical and natural sciences. These studies leave less time for dabbling in nationalism and the dropout rate is higher." Koenig wanted to make it easier for Arabs to study abroad and harder for them to return and find jobs. Graduates who did remain in Israel were to be coopted.
                  • Koenig also proposed mounting a smear campaign against Arab activists, reducing liquid savings to limit funds available in the Arab community to support political causes, and reducing the effectiveness of Arab student organizations.[10]

AIPAC is the representaive of a foreign government, which makes it illegal. What kind of Congressman or woman votes money to Israel, when their own state is deep in debt. Three billion dollars to a state of 6 or 7 million Jews, represents a donation on behalf of the American taxpayer approximately $500. 00 for each man woman and child in Israel. America just authorized another 600,000 dollars towards the Iron Dome project to protect Israel, which is on top of the 3 billion in aid. In addition, America guarantees Israeli loans and enables rich Jews to write off contributions to Israel, a feature in our tax code unavailable to any other nation.

F Israel and all her war mongering leaders, who use bribery to corrupt our US politicians. We are subsidizing a nation built on religion and the theft of Arab lands. Stop all US aid to Israel. Spend our money in the USA. Vote out Jewish politicians from our government, because you can almost always depend on them to vote more money to Israel and support Israel in any way they can, including voting for more wars for Israel. We cannot take a chance. Just look at the voting records of Eliot Engle and Brad Sherman for starters.

Focusing on lobbying organizations like AIPAC and overlooking CAIR and a myriad of other groups is delusional at best, and anti-semetic (of the Jewish Variety) at worst.

Learn some history. In 1967 Arabs wanted to destroy Israel. In subsequent war they lost, and Israel recovered territories that were assigned to Israel by UN in 1947, which they lost in 1948 war.

Robert, if the land is rightfully claimed by Israel as "spoils of war", you're essentially saying that the war was justifiable in the first place, but at the same time you condemn the Palestinians for fighting to regain the land back. You people make no damn sense.

How can any humane person do such a thing? if you are being rocketed by a group, find them on the ground , arrest them , try them in a court of just law, and imprison them as any country would. Murder is not the answer. The US should allow NO financial support of any nation not adhering to logical humane practices. We have homeless and hungry here in the US we can find were to put the cash we DON'T give to these problem animals. Here in the US we do not actually have the right to own anything, as all belongs to the government, we get to use things if we pay bankers , insurance companies and the tax man. But at least they are not shooting us in the street yet.

Green Line is NOT a border, it is an armistice line.

Green Line refers to the demarcation lines set out in the 1949 Armistice Agreements between Israel and its neighbours (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria) after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The Green Line is also used to mark the line between Israel and the territories captured in the Six-Day War, including the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula (the latter has since been returned to Egypt as part of the 1979 peace treaty). The name derives from the green ink used to draw the line on the map while the talks were going on.[1

The Green Line is not an international or permanent border. Professor Stephen M. Schwebel,[2] at the time a deputy legal advisor to the U.S. Department of State, Legal Adviser Office (1961–1981), wrote in the American Journal of International Law (1970) that "...modifications of the 1949 armistice lines among those States within former Palestinian territory are lawful (if not necessarily desirable), whether those modifications are...'insubstantial alterations required for mutual security' or more substantial alterations - such as recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the whole of Jerusalem." In a footnote, he wrote: "It should be added that the armistice agreements of 1949 expressly preserved the territorial claims of all parties and did not purport to establish definitive boundaries between them."[3]

All people liveing in the united states should find them a place where their grand parents came from and go there and give back the native americans their land . Take nothing with you because it was stolen form the native because it came from some natural resource that was stolen, oil, coal, steel, natural gas, gold and on and on. So leave or shut up natives deserve what is theirs if you think the palistinians deserve one single grain of sand from israel.

Not one report about the missile attacks on Israel until Israel strikes back and then it's the fault of Israel not the Palestinians. This is ridiculous and one sided. Israel defends her people and gets beat up in the media circus and the Islamofacistnazis sit back and laugh at how stupid everyone is. These Islamofacistnazis have everyone on the planet groping each other at airports in the name of security and spending billions of dollars trying to predict a terrorist attack. Then the media portrays the Islamofacistnazis as innocents and they need protecting from the big bad world. The Islamofacistnazis are making us spend our money on security until we have none left and they keep our governments in fear of an attack because the politicians know that if a country is attacked, the politicians will be blamed for doing nothing BY THE MEDIA! The Islamofacistnazis are winning this war of theirs and we don't even see it. Again, this all stems back to political correctness in the fear of upsetting the enemy. Honestly, you don't want to know what I really think.

It's no accident that Obama has destroyed our relationships with our friends and made trade agreements with every dictator led country in the world in the 3.5 years of his reign. So far, he has repaid russia for their financial backing and Israel falling is the next step in the plan. You will know it's true when you hear that our military has been ordered to stand down, rather than help Israel when russian backed terrorists launch an all out attack. The end draws closer folks.
