Family moves from the Bronx to Jerusalem, but US remains land of 'liberty and freedom'

Seth and Aviva Goldstein, an academic and homemaker in Jerusalem, share their views on America.

JERUSALEM – It was in August 2011 when the Goldstein family decided it was time to give up what America had to offer and move their life more than 5,500 miles away to Israel.

A special NBC News series: What The World Thinks of U.S. Click here for more information

Aviva and Seth Goldstein left their families and a fantastic life in the Bronx for what is perceived by many as a country torn by war and conflict.

One year after their move you couldn't find a happier and more enthusiastic family in Jerusalem. Aviva's huge and warm smile doesn’t vanish from her face as she juggles a move to a new apartment and raising three girls: Aliana, 7, Tahila, 5, and Liba, 3.

For Aviva and Seth coming to Israel wasn’t about finding a greener pasture somewhere else  –  but as Jews they felt like not coming to the Holy Land was like standing on the sidelines of history. It was always a place that just called to them, where they dreamed of living.

As the Goldstein family lay down a nice picnic spread near the old Jerusalem railway tracks, an area dubbed as the Israeli version of New York City's High Line, I asked Aviva and Seth what America represents for them and what role America has in the world today.

"The first thing that would come to mind when you think of America is liberty and freedom," Seth said. "I don’t think the U.S. has retreated from that identity and I don't think it lost a piece of that identity. I think it stands for freedom and democracy [now] as much as ever.”

NBC News

"For me," Aviva said, "America is also freedom and liberty. But I think that there is a big piece of America that’s comfort, with liberty and security, and that there is mobility within that.”

'Economic opportunity'
Both Aviva and Seth have had careers in education, but at this point Aviva described herself as a "full time mom," while Seth works at the Shalem Center, a research institute in Jerusalem.

"I think America stands for economic opportunity as well,” Seth said. "Also for all sorts of religious opportunities, that go hand-in- hand with freedom. It really is a place that you can grow in all sorts of uninhibited ways and be successful in all sorts of remarkable ways.”

How did they think the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan changed America?

"I think it stretched America's finances and it reminded the world that America stands for something more than just isolating itself in a bubble, but that it has a responsibility to the rest of the world," Seth said. "The extent that America was involved in it is a reflection of its sense of responsibility to other nations, to other people, to humanity."

NBC News speaks with citizens from around the globe, asking the question, 'What Does America Mean to You?'

Aviva also believed the U.S. involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan was a positive thing.  "I think that as Jews, who always had an interest in Israeli world politics, I think it was easier for us to see the evil," said Aviva.  "I think we’re used to being stuck with really bad neighbors,  so on some level it was good that America was involved."

As for their three girls, Aviva said the move has just caused them all to flourish,  even though they miss their grandparents. "Thank God for iPads," Aviva said. She was referring to the fact they can see and talk to their family back in the U.S. almost for free using the device and the Internet.

"Coming here is the fulfillment of a dream," Aviva explained. "I remember when we were dating 10 years ago, walking the streets of Manhattan fantasying about raising our unborn children in Jerusalem and now it's our reality. It's nothing short of a miracle."

What a crock. Unless you have the cash to buy your freedom. As for liberty? Where? We incarcerate more of our own citizens then any other country on Earth. So come on huh. Freedom is limited and with the hate filled rhetoric by the right and the willingness they have to NOT do the job we pay them to do you can stay where you are my friend.

Wall street had its way with us all and continues to do so as we saw with the Congressional inquiry or hand clap they gave to Jamie Dimon, and still no one not one person arrested in the collapse of the world economy ? Hmm. Some liberty. Most people don't have a job to buy freedom anymore because without cash your options are limited from travel to lunch to what you where to want you wanna do. So common huh? Really. ; ]

Cheers

lol... Are you serious? Jewish Propaganda on the front page? Sponsored by the Zionist Oil and the Isreal "we need more soldiers for the upcoming war with Iran" Migration Balance. When have you ever seen a story on the front page before about any other nationality, race, or creed moving to another country and telling how great it is? Its funny because the Israeli Government is turning down Jewish Migrants from Africa at the same time they are recruiting Migrants from the USA. Racists. I mean its bad enough they treat you like crap if you are a Cristian in Israel but to turn away their own people because of their skin color... lol. The European Jews no less that were persecuted for their nationality! You could not be more racist thatn the Israeli Government.

Mowdy, you babble to the point of nausea. Back to the point. This man and woman were asked about their views of the USA. It is not surprising that they had nice things to say about it. The vast majority of Jews in Israel recognize how much Israel depends on the USA. The only Israelis who would condemn the USA are the Arab-Israelis. But they're a bunch of hypocrites. This man and woman left the USA and left two job openings. Does that not make you less cranky?

Ophotfoot, why don't you go for a visit? I just returned from 2 weeks in Israel, as a Christian, I was treated FANTASTICALLY! They were gracious, generous and appreciative. Israel is beautiful and I can see why this family wanted to relocate there.

Ophotfoot, I guess you won't be visiting Israel any time soon. To clarify a point, this couple was asked their opinions about the USA. This is part of a larger article in which individuals from other countries were asked the same question. Most of the Arabic/Mulsim respondents sounded a hell of a lot like you. The migrants from Africa are not Jewish. Where did you get your info from? Al Jazeera? Why don't these migrants go to countries where the jobs are like India and China. These countries will embrace them with open arms, right? BTW, Israel already rescued thousands of Black African Jews from the Sudan. Remember Operation Moses?

What's the "foot" in your name for? Putting it in your mouth?

@mowdy5gs, Your perception of the word freedom and what you think it is, is 2 different things. We are as free as the law allows. That is a wide range. Your problem is you want to go beyond the limits. There are a lot of countries where people have very little to no freedom. Only freedom to do what their government wants them to do. The only regret that I have is I lost a lot of good buddies fighting for this freedom. But WE gave you the freedom to sit on your pitty-pot and cry that you have none.

this story is BS. all this family did was put religion ahead of a better life, better education, and everything else. soon they'll realize its an arab country and flee like the other 99.8% of americans who migrate to israel do when they try to be "religiously interesting." nice to know you care more about god than your own kids' future. religious with 3 girls, you'll surely have them married off as virgins at 18 so they can carry out their "obligations" of being baby making housewives. (and yes, as a non-jew working in israel for the last 5 years, i know what i'm talking about. i've seen it with my own eyes)

Land of liberty and freedom? Obviously they are missing the bigger picture about the NDAA, Patriot Acts, Murdering of citizens, and rumors of the President using executive powers to force SOPA on us. We are swirling out of control by legalized bribery in our 3 branches of governments, as well as now starting to feel the impact on the state and local levels. Liberty and freedom died on 9/11/01, murdered by the puppet masters who were pulling Bush's strings.

Max: Most people forget that this country was settled my many many jews. Long before America became a country jewish families were settling here. Many Jewish families can trace their lineage back to the early 1500's . Jews, Christians, Native Americans, French, British, Africans even some Spanish, along with many others, all fought together against the British regime to secure our freedom and create a democracy. There are even stories of Jews intermarrying with Native Americans. What makes this country great is that many different religions and ethnic groups were here at the beginning and we are really a big mixing pot. Don't forget Christianity is just a sect of Judaism ( no one ever wants to hear that) it boils down to one branch believes Jesus is the messiah and the other thinks he is a great prophet. All the Christian teachings in the new testament are found in other places in jewish text and obviously Jews and Christians share the old testament.

The reason we are a great nation ( and we really are!) Is our diversity and belief that everyone is equal. We are the descendants of brave people that traveled the world to arrive here. What other countries see as disorder, we see as a free spirit that encourages free thinking. We don't hide our women --Americans educate everyone and harness all of our brawn and brain power. AMerica created Yahoo, the internet, google, microsoft. We have some of the most amazing Universities and hospitals in the world.

We are one of the few countries that educates ALL of our children until they are 18---we even provide a hot lunch to our poor children. We have a safety social net ( yes it needs work) for our elderly. In India you see elderly widows begging on the street for money---I went to a convalescent care center for impoverished elderly in America and while it wasn't rose gardens they had food, crafts and visits from local schools.

So basically my point is diversity is good and America is a great place to live and have citizenship :)

Look, we (being the west/europe) created Isreal long before WWII, at least as far as the planning goes. British Mandate Palestine EXISTED (deniers have no basis in reality) and the British were constantly trying to work out a deal to carve out a place for Jews, but it never really worked out.

Then comes WWII. Millions of Jews killed by Hitler.

Im not going to say this was something that HELPED facilitate the move of Jews to the middle east, but I think we can all do the math ourselves.

The arab people of the region did not want to give up their land for jewish people to create their own state - they were never accepting of it...

so why are Jews and Americans confused about why Arabs, to this day, still fight the jews to get the land back?

we'd do the same darn thing if China decided to carve out a chunk of the US and plunk down some mongolians...and YOU KNOW FULL WELL WE WOULD

sorry, I wont feel sorry for jewish people...they create their own misery, and want everyone to feel sorry for them. NOT GONNA DO IT.

And how does asking former americans, who live in Isreal, about their views on the US - fit into this piece? I could understand if they asked jews who were born in Isreal about their views, but not former americans.

Cut funding to Isreal, they are doing quite well on their own - I think they can manage at this point.

If Jewish people want their own state...why not take a chunk of Alaska?

Oh, but then, how will End Times be fulfilled? The Jews HAVE to be where they are now for it to unfold...tricky christians, and the jews think you have THEIR best interest at heart? hilarious.

If you live in America and consider yourself an American, you owe your allegiance to this country alone. Far too many Jews, their lackeys and sympathizers, promote the interests of Israel at great expense to US of A, which is painfully obvious looking at our foreign policy for example. And that is why I think these people should all move to Israel.

An awakening for all that think the Jewish people are in Misery.

NOT---they have dealt with strife, persecution all over the World, and survival, of which most people could not have the mental strength to do---they are an Amazing Religious group and Community. Most are highly educated, and have made life saving Contributions to Society---Famous People in the Medical/Science Fields, Academics, Authors, Inventors, and Einstein, Jonas Salk (Polio cure) i.e., others like them. The list goes on and on.

Who can say that others supporting others in the time of need, care, and CHARITY. (Tzedakah).

It is the duty of all Jews to do Good Deeds, and give Charity whether it be helping someone else, (not just their own religious faith), helping others who come from Countries where they have been persecuted.

Most of you have it all wrong. They are not a miserable people, but a very happy, giving group who cherish the Freedoms here in the US, treasuring each friendship.

Their first priority is FAMILY---the parents truly LOVE their children; holding them in high esteem above anything else.

You bet these Jews have nice things to say about America. Now they live in Israel and America helps support them with aid to Israel and they don't haven tp pay yhose pesky American taxes. Where else can you live and have another country support you? Then they get to vote for US Congressmen, like Brad Shermen, who will vote for more aid to Israel, because of their dual citizenship.

We have been supporting their sorry a$$es for far too long. No more aid to Israel.

    Charity does start at home.

That is why so many Jewish people take care of their own here (called a Community) who are in need, and others who may be Christian, or a person who has no where to go.. It is exceptional. A Jewish person is NEVER left alone, in time of need. Whether it be food, rides to the doctor, older people in nursing homes, family, extended family, friends, or a death of someone's relative. They have all have a large/professional Family Service where there is immediate help for anyone in all Cities and States---including counseling, helping to get caretakers, the elderly food, house service. Never forgotten.

It is called Tzedakah. It is a Commandment of the Torah. Good Deeds are called "Mitzvahs"; please look these words up.

One has a choice whether or not to support Israel.

Yes, let's remember that whenever a pro-palestinian runs out of arguments, he brings up a 50-year-old conspiracy theory in hope of changing the subjet.

As for the dollars to Israel, it's about 3 bilion a year, out of 50 bilion of total foreign aid to countries like Afganistan, Pakistan and Egypt. For some reason, good ultra-liberals are happy to give to those countries.

As to payments to other countries in the ME, like Egypt - US is only giving them money so they are NICE TO ISRAEL... that is how it has been from day one of these payments. And don't forget the US taxpayer guaranteed loans for Israel - loans than Israel has NEVER, EVER repaid to anybody, leaving US taxpayers holding the bag. Israel is nothing but a parasite for US.

As for all those other countries they ar enot just paid not to attack Israel, they are also paid not to attack USA, and if USA stops supporting Israel, they might feel like they should still be paid not to attack USA.

      Greg,

According to the U.S. Bureau of Census, the country that received the most financial aid (economic and military aid) from the USA in 2010 was Afghanistan, which received more than three times what Israel received. Of the five countries that received the most aid from the USA, four of them are Muslim countries, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Egypt. Israel was number three on the list behind Afghanistan and Pakistan. You remember Pakistan, the same country that aided, abetted and harbored Bin Laden. You are just a hater.

Afghanistan probably got the most aid because we carpet bombed the @!$%# out of it. . As for Israel, wtf do they need the money for? Last I checked they have a better than decent economy, not to mention extremely wealthy Jews (and their billion dollar companies) in this country and around the world are constantly pumping $$$ into that country. Give me a break. Thats like saying why did I give the homeless guy $10, but the executive only $8. Because the homeless guy needs it more.

I believe Afghanistan is getting the most because we are still there - you know, when you invade and occupy a nation and force them to do as you say, you probably should just fund it.

      Same with Iraq.

And Pakistan - they are letting us drone bomb their people. YOU HAVE TO PAY THEM OR THEY WONT LET US DO IT.

Isreal can take care of itself, let them figure it out...they seem like big boys, I think they can manage.

If we pulled out of the middle east, we should cut off all funding - PERIOD.

But then, we'd just be repeating history all over again...

You remember how made the Iranians were when we had to cut that ARMS FOR HOSTAGES DEAL short after american citizens found out? YIKES!

history, most americans dont have a clue.

If this man and his family want to live in Israel it's there choice. My best wishes to them. My father was a Korean war veteran living in Puerto Rico. He and my mother wanted a better life for us. I was raised here in the United States of America. Every one should have choices to be able to live there lives how they want too. Freedom is not free. Has long has people understand religion, jobs, education, medical insurance, quality of life, are all goals we strive for. The United States of America is a great nation with many opportunities. You can make it here with hard work and good head on your shoulders. I am staying right here until I draw my last breath. I love this country even though some folks here don't like me.

Nice post. Please pass on my thanks to your father for his service. I agree with everything you wrote, but I do have a thought to share with you. You believe "every one should have choices to be able to live there lives how they want too." If that was permitted, than every person on this planet would come to the USA. I am not comfortable with this thought. It is time that the countries like Btazil, India and China open their doors to migrants looking for a better life. The USA needs a break from the onslaught of unchecked immigration. Let's take a moment to absorb everyone. What are your thoughts on that?

so Juan, the question is ...WHY is it that Puerto Rico doesn't offer all that America has for you?.., why???

Democracy requires thoughtful, well educated people to survive. It didn't just happen. People of ALL races and ethnicities fought and died for all those freedoms and creature comforts that you enjoy.

The right to worship as you wish, the right to work 8 hours for a decent living, a right to be educated in public schools the right to vote as well as protection of your civil rights, from those that don't like you simply for who you are. All of this under attack, constantly.

Telltale, PR does not offer what the US offers because PR was invaded by the US in 1898. We were forced to become US citizens and our government controlled. Right now there are people in PR who want to give up their US citizenship so that they could move around as the citizens of their real nation but they are not allowed to do so. So freedom can be a joke. You are as free as you think you are.

Jibaro, please go back to the history books and if you don't have one, I would suggest checking your local library: Puerto Rico became a territory of the U.S. after the war with Spain and was signed over to the U.S. when they sued for peace as they [the Spanish] faced certain defect. The 1898 Treaty of Paris turned over Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Phillipines over to the permanent authority of the United States. At that time, citizens wishing to go back to Spain could have...to date I have not met any Puerto Rican who would prefer Spanish Citizenship over what they have here in the U.S. By the way, Yo naci en Puerto Rico y vivo en los Estados Unidos y no deseo de vivir en otro pais.

"signed over", "turned over"... this primitive language the masses still consider valid.

anyone taking a semi-accurate pulse of world events knows exactly what this hot air article is about. anyone that doesn't, you pretty much deserve the cogent wake-up call that's about shake the baby jesus out of your multi-generational comfort zone. someone wrote "the right to work 8 hours". lmao.

who knew that the patriotism backed by the media and control of opinion would prevail over the less popular one, which is backed by common sense and logic?

the phrase "wake up" will not get old until the last one can be said. if you're defending the government and corporate system that is destroying the nation you think they're "building", then you are absolutely clueless about the plethora of factual evidence against such a robotic position of blind obedience. Go to YouTube and watch 'Thrive' or 'Ethos' or better yet both.

All witnessing the theater, but deep down inside refuse to understand that behind the scenes they're more alike with each other than with your common a$$.

Go take in a whiff of the zeitgeist in Puerto Rico, especially the LEARNED youth in universities and think tanks and tell me how much they really want the deep, rich culture of drive-thru's and infomercials flowing through their veins.

Where corporations are people......in the same way that Nazis are people. Individually people usually have moral direction and a conscience. As a group, they can sometimes dilute responsibility and suspend obligations towards other human beings for the sake of a singular goal--like making money for instance. Only when corporations cease having profit-making as the prime directive will they be human. I'm still waiting for Mitt Romney to become human.

Is that anything like organizing voting blocks to pressure politicians for personal gains for their voting block, Like unions, minority groups, churches, farmers, women, the list can go on and all these seek the same thing and that is to influence politicians for personal gain.

Only when you can show me that all individuals have ceased being motivated by profit will I consider that a valid argument. Unless of course you can prove that people who want to make money aren't human. Since most of the people who despise those with wealth propose to spread it around rather than do away with it (i.e., are motivated by envy), this will be tough to do.

I work for a corporation who's only focus is the shareholders.

          and it's PURE HELL.

nothing we ever do is good enough, because we cant EVER make the profits necessary to pay the shareholders what they think they should have.

we make record profits every quarter, and it STILL isnt good enough...

they just layed off 6 workers because we needed to find money somewhere to pay the shareholders...

it wont fail tomorrow, but eventually it will. you can only withhold payment from suppliers for so long until they shut you off and never let you back in their door again. so many of our suppliers turned us to prepayment becuase we simply dont pay the suppliers in less than 90 days...

and it's all a matter of pushing the money around so that our shareholdes THINK we are flying high.

im sorry, I understand the IDEA behind investing, but when the investors matter MORE than the workers, it will always fail.

the best will always walk out the door and say ENOUGH.

one of my coworkers is getting ready to do that by jan...and it's going to suck for me, but I dont hold it against her. she's had enough...she works so hard, and is made to feel like it's not good enough and she needs to do better.

I only wish I could win mega millions so I could quit my job in a heartbeat. I cant find any work in my area that pays what I currently make...id have to start out on the bottom and I have bills to pay, and therefore, it's just not an option.

it may not officially be slavery, but it feels like it some days. I simply have NO OPTIONS. no good ones anyway.

What freedom are they talking about? The only reason why they and other foreigners think that America is the land of freedom and liberty is mostly because they come from a region where bombs go off practically daily.

In America, saying "@!$%# the police" to a police officer can land you in prison for crimes like disorderly conduct or criminal mischief, especially if the police officer has no respect for the citizens so-called "freedom of speech" rights. Throwing your middle finger at a cop can cause the cop to approach you in an aggressive manner if not arrest you for a misdemeanor crime, such as the disorderly conduct or criminal mischief, penal laws that they can use at their discretion against citizens they do not like or against their enemies.

There are dictatorial countries where throwing your middle finger at a police officer want even get you a stare. In America, there have been laws created that can be used to minimize freedom. If you are convicted of these crimes, but it appears you had the right to do it because of constitutional freedoms, you have to go through a long process of appealing a verdict. Many people are not even up to going through the long process of appealing a verdict that they fill was unjust or violated their constitutional rights. There are many people in America that is innocent, yet they are still incarcerated in harsh environments. There are many innocent Americans who are waiting out the appeals process in prison.

Some people have to be scared to speak their minds and speak up for themselves because they could be charged with breaking a particular law that the cops have the discretion to use against them. The prisons are harsh and there are crooked cops and correction officers everywhere. There is little oversight in the police departments and it is hard to get cops terminated. Cops are falsely accusing innocent Americans of breaking "common sense" laws.

I guess my only question is... what does saying "@!$%# the police" or throwing your middle finger at a cop accomplish? The dictatorial countries where this "won't even get you a stare" wouldn't allow a simple peaceful protest against their government, where this is allowed daily in the US. Which country would you rather live in?

If you speak your mind in a manner that shows respect to those around you, there are very few instances where you will be silenced. It seems rather juvenile to equate not being able to throw a tantrum with an infringement of your personal rights…

I realize there are cases where the government oversteps, but it is nowhere near what people have to deal with in other countries. I'm thankful for my life in the U.S... many have died trying to get what we have and to complain about it seems wrong to me.

Another American Jewish family moving to Israel to displace a Palestinian family. Another American family adding to the suffering of the real inhabitants of that area. Another American group claiming they have a right to be there because of their religion. But we can't call them religious extremist, can we. It doesn't matter how much land they steal, or how many non Jews they persecute. Israel needs to give the land back and act like a civilized nation. Because they do meet every definition of a Rogue state. They will not acknowledge the Geneva convention, they possess Nuclear weapons but will not admit to or allow inspections of the arsenal. They do sponsor terrorism. And it is their arrogance and greed that is the real problem in the Middle East. The Holocaust was no excuse for the Fascism that Israel practices. They have turned even the Holocaust into a joke, 24 million civilians murdered by the Nazi's but only 6 million that matter. The 18 million non Jews aren't important enough, right?

Between the Jewish "this is our god given land" and the Christian "it fulfills biblical prophecy" what is being done to the people of Palestine is a crusade. and a crime.

Palstinians can still have their own country in Gaza and West Bank, both can become very descent to live in if all the money and energy invested into this pointless war, will be invested into improving those places.

And if palestinians had not started this war back in 1948 they would have been given their own state right a way, and it would be much bigger and much more pleasant.

Started the war in 1948? You must be a child or very stupid. European JEWS started the war when they occupied the land known as Palestine in 1948. It wasn't Palestinians traveling a thousand miles to go and occupy Poland, or Russia. It was the other way around. Zionist Jews traveled from Europe, armed and ready to fight Palestinian farmers and villagers so they can expell them from their land and homes. Get your facts straight buddy.

When the British came to American soil, we defended ourselves and our land. The Palestinians were simply doing the same thing.

"When British came to American soil, we defended ourselves, and our land." I hope you are Native American, that's the only way that statment makeseven remote sense. Otherwice, learn at least very basics of American history before you try to pass for an American.

UNlike you, I do have my facts straight.

For your informaton, the war started before European Jews had a chance to occupy anything. They came back to their original land to escape pogroms an eventually Genoside in Europe. They buyig the land and a unfare price too, but shortly after that their settlements ould be attacked y Arabs, some of whom wanted to shake them for more money, and some out of your average bigory.

So, jews had a choice to go back to Europe right nito the arms of nazis, or to stay and fight. Excuse them for choosgn to fght for servival nstead of just rolling over and dieing. They were defending their settlements by any means neccessary, but not displacing anyone o taking anyone's land.

By 1948 the UN got involved and declared it leagal for jews to keep migrating to Palestine.

There was no plan for expelling anyone. There was supposed to be a binational state for both jews and arabs who only then started calling themselves palestinians, and another state for arabs only (no jews allowed).

Palestinians delcared that even that is not enough, and just kept fighting, neigbouring states offered their help in cleansing the land of jews (which by the way included the jews who lived there long before any of this mess started). That's how the mini-war which was already in progress turned into a full out war.

Then, and only then, many palestinians ended up displaced, because in war you have to take ground or die where you stand. Also, many of those displaced arabs left willingly bcaue they expected arab states to get rid of all the jews in no time and make it allnice for them to return, but they were in for a dissapointment.

I know you will just deny all this flat, but there is one tiny detail that might diturb even your perfect image of the situation:

It was 7 arab states against one freshly formed country. No one thought it's possible for Israel to win, not USA, not Britane, not arab states, not even Israelis themselves, they only went on fighting, beause they had nothing to loose. They were outgunned and outnumbered 10 to 1. They won only because arabs were poorly organized.

Do you really think that a bunch of Holocaust surviors in a quick-built settlement in the middle of nowhere were so overconfident they felt they could just go around taking land, provoking 7 states into a war and defeating them all?

Forget facts, get your common sence straight, buddy.

That ethnic cleansing is failing miserably, due largely to the wonderful free maternity care that is given to Jews and Arabs alike at Hadassah Hospital, which is supported by the Hadassah society, which is the American women's Zionist organization.

I'd move to Israel too, if I could get medical coverage FREE FOR LIFE, thanks to the 'land of liberty and freedom'...

Israel is a racist "theocracy" ... no one hates Jewish people, just the endlist lies and deceptions of what it has become, sadly, so has America.

Damn straight, TT... Of course they praise the USA, the nation of Israel gets anything they want from it! Back in January Washington was looking at cutting funding to food stamps, medicare, Native American health centers, and community health centers across the USA as part of a budget cut. AT THE SAME TIME congress gave Israel $20,000,000,000.00 of our money in ADDITIONAL aid, more then was being proposed in cuts. Why? Because no politician wants to have AIPAC after them.

Not to long ago I had a Jewish coworker tell me that "if you are Jewish it's hard to get elected to office."

I asked him a simple question; "Then tell me why 2% of our population is Jewish, but 20% of congress is?" He tried to get me fired saying I was "Jew baiting" just as Cassandra is saying. This and the term 'antisemite' is the distraction elitist Jews use to distract us from the subject at hand.

Here, watch this if you think I am lying:

But if nothing else, look into the information I stated above on the budget cuts, then ask your self, 'who does congress work for'?

Once again, Tim...Jews tend to be well educated and politically involved, which leads to political careers. Anyway, 20 percent is hardly a majority of Congress.

I have to laugh at the liberal mindset here.

YES this is the land of FREEDOM.

You are FREE to achieve... at the moment.

You are FREE to do as you see fit... at the moment.

You are FREE to work and move up the ladder based on your ability.

                The liberal mindset:

The liberal screams for freedom yet fights to enslave.

                Control over your healthcare.

                Control over what you eat.

                Control over where you live.

Control over what you are forced to pay them, regardless of worth to the business.

Control the ideology, shut up any dissenting voice.

Control people by getting them hooked on DEPENDENCE and fight any independent thought or action thru the purse strings.

Control people thru using the language of "civility" all the while being the most vicious people on Earth.

Control people thru attacks on FREEDOM of (not from) religion.

Control people thru education... er lack of educating them. Dept of Education F'ing with you kids since 1979,

Control using "shame" tactices. Disagree with a liberal? YOU MUST BE A RACIST!

                The Conservative mindset:

I have the right to speak my mind. I have the right to my religion. I have the right to keep and bear arms, and it shall not be infringed.

You are free to do as you wish UNTIL your actions or words affect my LIFE, LIBERTY, PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS OR RIGHT TO PRIVATE PROPERTY.

A Conservative believes in the Constitution as it was intended and written.

                A Conservative believes in Capitalism.

A Conservative believes in one's ability rather than need as ones value to society.

A Conservative believes and loves his or her country and understands that "fundemental change" is not love for ones country but HATRED.

A Conservative KNOWS that disagreement doesn't make one a racist, hating based off of the color of ones skin or ethnic background DOES.

A Conservative understands that sooner or later we will have to fight to save this country but won't strike the first blow... but we will strike the last.

Understand that a conservative is not necassarily a Republican and a liberal is not necassarily a Democrat.

Bush wasn't a conservative, right? So why did conservatives vote for him? Hmmmmmmmm?

Bush was an extreme law breaker, warmonger and war criminal. He said of the Constitution: "It is Just a g-ddamn piece of Paper". Under Bush capitalism ran amuke and we are going to be living with the consequences for decades. He eroded our Rights. Bush was time and time again a failure in his personal life and career but he kept getting "silverspooned" by his rich daddy and rich daddy's connections.

But you conservatives voted enthusiastically for him anyway. Guess you talk and talk and talk but when it comes right down to it....

John Maher recently said it best: "Conservatism isn't an idealogy, it is about being a dick".

Good post. Here's something like it--

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

And if a Republican OR Democrat loses his job AND therefore his health care...or if he becomes too sick to work...then he is in deep doo doo. I am not even mentioning the fact that if the Republican is against abortion or birth control for others, then he does his best to get that big, bad government to ban both.

Lets see...Killing unborn babies...yep thats wrong.(caveat...in most instances, rape and incest excluded)

Birth control...we have no problem with birth control, While we may not use it we gladly condone you using it thereby reducing your population, Just do not expect us to pay for it.

You should really stitck to the pushing grandma off a cliff line it was working out better for you.

Government doe not have to be big to work, It has to be efficient and the bigger and more bloated something gets the less efficiently it works and government is no different.

The federal government takes money from the states for programs ran by the states, The federal government then sends some of that money back to the states for those programs but a percentage of that money is lost in the federal government bureaucracy thereby reducing the efficiency of the program and requiring more money to be taken from the states so that they can get a bigger percentage back from the federal government

Free to do as you please? I served for nine years and after I got involved in politics I don't seem to qualify for any positions in the federal government. For some reason I'm put aside. Some people say that it is because I was effective in what I did but did not agree with what the Bush administration wanted. I mean, from the beginning on 9/11 I said that the attack was a set up, later what I said seemed to be true, so I don't qualify for anything now.

Free? I've been to other countries where they lived under dictatorships disguised as democracys and the people were as free as here. You are as free as you think you are.

J.P. First I didn't vote for Bush, in fact I didn't even like him while he was president of this nation. JUST TO INFORM YOU.

                BUT since you said it,

What laws did Bush break, be specific and cite the examples please I can cite the fact that Obama, without Congressional authority sent American troops into an African nation without Congress approval. I can in fact cite the death order issued by the Obama administration for an American citizen without due process. I can in fact cite the fact that Obama has disregarded Congressional votes using executive order. I can in fact cite the fact that under orders from the Obama administration that a SC ruling just a few days ago will be ignored and they WILL NOT follow the law... HEY you started it bud.

Warmonger? Seriously? Were we not attacked on 9/11 or was that one of those Dallas type dreams? You don't mean like Obama sending spec ops into an sovereign African nation do you? Or bombing Lybia without Congress approval or authority? DID Bush go in front of Congress and get a damn near UNANIMOUS vote to go to war with Al Queda and anyone aiding them or not? BTW the answer is YES he did and he did it legally, Obama didn't.

Please quote and cite when and where he said that.

Uhm... you do understand that Capitalism is what built this country don't you? Might wanna talk to people who FLED socialism my friend.

You mean he eroded our rights like... taking away our choice in healthcare? taking away our ability to choose how we feed our kids? Did Bush take away our right to defend our nation by igoring the Supreme Court just last week? PLEASE cite what rghts he took away. I can show you the effects of what Obama is doing quite simply. As I just did.

hahahaha... another 99%er. Yeah those evil rich folks... oooh. So what? ARE YOU JEALOUS? Just don't want someone to have what you have not EARNED? Liberal lie, class warfare. You do know that in socialist societies they have NO property rights, ONLY the "elite of the elite" live well as the rest of the great unwashed are the recipient class... Socialism actively corrupts people by seducing them into the mindset of the enslaved. When I say that understand one thing, anyone who is dependent upon anyone else and who MUST continue doing as they say to maintain the "entitlements" ARE in fact slaves. Only people who believe in INDEPENDENCE and are willing to fight for it are FREE.

IF being a dick means that I prefer self determination over enslavement.... THEN BY ALL MEANS I AM ABSOLUTELY A DICK.

Cassandra, so in essence you are saying that I am responsible for how another persons life goes based on their need?

Sorry, but I am ONLY responsible for myself and my family. I have however helped close friends in times of need BASED on their VALUE to me. Not based on their need.

Hey, wanna come over and sleep with me? IF NOT then go to hell, you do NOT have a "right" to birth control paid for by the TAX PAYER. Grow up and go buy your own fun time stuff. Pretty soon liberal women will be demanding that "personal massagers" be mandated as a right and demand the taxpayer take care of it.

So you get pregnant... HOW IS THAT MY FAULT? Sure as hell wasn't me, so why should I be forced to pay for your abortion? What if I don't believe in abortion due to my faith or my own rational thought?

The ONLY thing you said that is even honest is the term "big, bad government..." BIG IS BAD. In fact our founders KNEW big government was bad. Might wanna read the Constitution and understand it before making comments like that. See in the Constitution they expressely limited the federal government. They did this to ensure states rights. Do you know why they did that? It was because the states existed long before the Revolutionary War... OH btw that war was FOUGHT because of an over reachin and over bearing government... might wanna actually understand history.

Jibaro, yes you ARE FREE. Free to speak, free to worship, free to keep and bear arms. Free to live your life as you see fit BASED on your own abilities. It is progressivism and liberalism that is enslaving people my friend. The more dependent you are on the government the more they can do to you without you having the ability to say no. Become dependent upon yourself, find a job in the private sector.

Seems you want to blame Bush for your not being "qualified" for a job in government.. WOW.

Purdue University independent research study on the attack. IF you think that the Bush administration set if all up... WOW. IF you said that out loud to people within the military, and wonder why you can't get a job... WOW

BTW those people are NOT free. Can they own property? Can they speak out against their government? Are they subject to the whims of their leaders? Why do you think people fled Cuba, The Soviet Union, China? Come on man.

In the vid, you had peoples from Cuba of all places that sounded like they worked for the Castro propoganda machine, angry Pakis, overly intellectual Europeans, and dream filled South Africans. The Article was about ex-pat American Jewry who basically are following a Diaspora.

America is a big, sprawling country with views that swing from the left to the right. A country of extremes and a country of moderation. There is no one America...unless of course something unites us. Unfortunately for most of our existance has been threats to our way of life....which in turn sends us to war. Are there problems here...of course. Is our government perfect .... of course not. Are there injustices...absolutely. But what makes America great is our ability to TALK about it....AGREE to DISAGREE....and look for a common ground.

Yes our country is great. God Bless America and all who are blessed to have a chance to live here. It is the land of opportunities for the grateful and ungrateful alike.

And believe me, I have seen anti-Zionists turn into plain old fashioned Jew baiters on this discussion boards in about six postings...many have even wound up saying that we must condemn the Jews because they killed Jesus.

It is the personal particular as opposed to the objective general. Don't you people have jobs to go to. Too much talk in america. I find it funny that if Israel even remotely suspects a person to be involved in "terrorism" ( I call it resistance) then they go and tear down the WHOLE FAMILY'S house. So now you have an 18 Palestinian in jail, and his whole family homeless. And Palestinians are not even allowed to rebuild without a permit, which I heard Israel gives very few out to Palestinians. Hell, they even block building supplies from coming in to Gaza!

Tearing down the house is a punishment for the families of suicide bommers. It's hard to punish someone who is already resting in peces, so all that's left is to punish the family.

I, on the other hand, find it funny that someones idea of resistance is blow himself up in a dsico full of dancing teenagers, so you are dead while those you hate are given an extra reason to hate your nation, and want revenge for their dead children.

Many people misuse the Romans 11 verse of the bible. People need to actually read the book of romans. You cant deny Jesus christ and get to heaven. Do the Jewish people not realize it is god who has made them a nation again. Yet they deny his name. Just like in old rome and babylon of past. GOd will use a evil nation to punish them. Why do they live in fear and so much trouble? IF they would repent and accept jesus christ a in the way they should . ALL the problems with muslims would go away. True Israel will accept christ. TO deny him is the spirit of the antichrist. Their is alot of christians who need to wake up. We love the jewish people and just like god want to see none of them lose their soul. The world will suffer because of this. And is. The bible is clear about this

I wouldn't have anything to do with a God that rains down hate and destruction on anyone. That same Bible that you're thumping also says this - below - (along with God is love). If you want to live in your human-created hell of judgment, that's up to you, but with a very little thought, you would see how the hellfire and damnation goes totally against a loving God's wishes.

                          Speaking of Israel:

"For you are a holy people to YHWH your God, and God has chosen you to be his treasured people from all the nations that are on the face of the earth."

"And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you." (Doesn't say a thing about any conditions on the part of Israel - so you're saying God lied on this one.)

                            Conditions?

                            Genesis 17:14

14 And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”

                            Deuteronomy 8:19

19 Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish.

                            Deuteronomy 9:7

7 “Remember! Do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord.

                            Deuteronomy 9:8

8 Also in Horeb you provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry enough with you to have destroyed you.

                            Deuteronomy 28:45

45 “Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.

                            1 Samuel 10:19

19 But you have today rejected your God, who Himself saved you from all your adversities and your tribulations; and you have said to Him, ‘No, set a king over us!’ Now therefore, present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and by your clans.”[a]

                            Psalm 106:40

40 Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against His people,
So that He abhorred His own inheritance.

                            Isaiah 54:8

                            8 With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment;
But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,”
                            Says the Lord, your Redeemer.

                            Jeremiah 10:10

                            10 But the Lord is the true God;
He is the living God and the everlasting King.
At His wrath the earth will tremble,
And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation.

                            Jeremiah 32:37

37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely.

                            Zechariah 7:12

12 Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts.

                            Zechariah 8:13-15

13 And it shall come to pass
That just as you were a curse among the nations,
O house of Judah and house of Israel,
So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing.
                            Do not fear,
                            Let your hands be strong.’

14 “For thus says the Lord of hosts:

‘Just as I determined to punish you
When your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’
                            Says the Lord of hosts,
                            ‘And I would not relent,
15 So again in these days
I am determined to do good
To Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
                            Do not fear.

                            John 3:36

36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

                            Romans 2:4-6

4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”

                            Romans 3:5-6

5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.) 6 Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world?

                            Romans 5:9

9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

                            Revelation 6:16-17

16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

As both an Israeli and someone who reads a lot of people's comments on various sites. I think this article drives home the point that in a world were most people hate America and American values. Both Israelis and Jews LOVE America. And it is good that Americans hear and know that they have one true loyal friend.

I remember on 9-11 that Israel was the first country to offer help to the US - they have a lot of experience in cleaning up after terrorist attacks. I also remember the incredible stupidity of trying to appease the world by not accepting that offer - they probably came when other countries sent help to the US, but their initial offer was rejected. Didn't want to offend any of the countries who were behind the 9-11 attack, I guess.

Wow Tea Party you hit the bulls eye with that quote. The main reason why The U.S was attacked is because of our support of the apartheid state of Israel. I gurantee you if our president went on live TV tomorrow and stated we will no longer be supporting Israel morally and financially and helping to put an end to the illegal land grabbing and settlement building, then the extremists will have no reason to want to go after us anymore (also considering we leave all military bases in the mid east). Only probelm would be if that actually happened, I'm sure AIPAC and the Mossad would have him assasinated and try to cover it up as the work of an "extremist Muslim"

                            Commander,

During World War II, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (a Muslim and Arab) organized a regiment of Arab soldiers and sent them to fight for Hitler. Were they not our enemies? Muslims have the most enemies of any group. Anyone who is not a Muslim is their enemy, including you.

America WAS a land of liberty and freedom for all just several years ago. Now America is a land of oportunity for islamofascism, lawless, primitive education, unimaginable crime.

Can we take a time-out here for a second? One important statement in this article needs elaboration, because it does NOT make any sense at all.

Please define "a fantastic life in The Bronx." I grew up in and spent my first 28 years in New York, and as far as I know, except for Reggie Jackson, Ron Guidry, and the rest of the Yankees of the late 1970s, NOBODY has "a fantastic life in The Bronx."

That's the New York City equivalent of saying they had "a peaceful vacation to Homs, or Daraa." They are mutually exclusive terms.
