Israel has steadily grown over the years due to conflicts with the Arab powers who have used the Palestinians as pawns in their game against Israel. The Israelis have also restricted the freedoms of the Palestinians in order to secure their own security. The Intifadas were a major reason for this and one reason Israel built the west bank wall.

Peace in Palestine is desirable for Americans, but we don't just blindly see the suffering, we have to look at why and then try to bring both sides together, but both sides will have to make sacrifices to achieve peace, and right now the Palestinians (Hamas for instance) are more inclined to offer armed resistance rather than take the tough steps to lasting peace.
