Policemen stand in front of an apartment building after a gunman seized at least four hostages, including a bailiff, during a home eviction in Karlsruhe, Germany, on Wednesday.
Five people were shot dead after a gunman facing eviction seized hostages in an apartment in the southern German city of Karlsruhe on Wednesday, police said.
The dead were thought to be the shooter, apartment's current renter, a bailiff, a locksmith and the apartment's new renter, police spokesman Norbert Scharer told NBC News.
"Special forces broke into the apartment after smelling smoke and found five dead bodies. Probably one of them is the gunman," Scharer told NBC News.
A social worker, who also belonged to the visiting group, was released during the hostage taking.
"They all died of gunshot wounds,'' a police spokesman told Reuters.
After shots were heard, officers from the police special response unit, some dressed in protective green suits and helmets, sealed off the area around the building in the north part of the city.
Police said they found a hand-grenade and a rifle in the apartment.
Karlsruhe, with nearly 300,000 inhabitants, is located near the French border and is home to Germany's Constitutional Court.

This started already 13:06 German time - when the court bailiffs arrived at the home of the evictee- the man opened fire and had hostages. It is very dangerous nowadays in any country since people are armed to the teeth and the court bailiffs are no swat team either. Germany has to change their procedures in eviction cases.
http://www.bild.de/news/inland/geiselnahme/schiessrei-tote-verlezte-zwang-spaeumung-4-249903028.bild.html the shooter/evictee was 53 yrs old living together in open relationship with a woman (55 yrs old).He was born in Karlsruhe and lived for a while in Elsass (Alsace),he was unemployed and had not been paying any rent for a long time. His killing was premeditated since he had a cache of arms and ammo in his home. He killed one bailiff (47 yr)and the new renter (49 yr) with shots in the head;locksmith accompanier (33 yr) shot dead in front of a couch, live companion shot dead in breast. and himself in the head. He lit his carpet in fire too to prevent SWAT team coming in. The court bailiff and the locksmith accompanier both leave families with children behind. Judge: Ich hatte keine Ahnung- wirklich?
I lived in Germany for several years. We often complain about our SWAT teams and police tactics, but German police are just not good when dealing with armed hostage takers. I remember several instances where the police were hesitant to use force and hostages died as a result. A lot has to do with current laws and Germany's history. Police there are often straight-jacketed. I knew a German police officer who chased a guy after a bank robbery. He shot and wounded the suspect. He was demoted, then spent about two years filling out forms and explaining himself. His colleagues jokingly called him Wyatt Earp. I wish my German friend would have been at the scene. They might have called him Wyatt Earp again, but there would be 5 people alive if the police had reacted the way he did.
Hmmmmm.
Lets see the gun control idiots explain this one. The gun laws in germany are pretty strict, moreso than they are here but they still have gun violence.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Germany
Making things illegal DOES NOT PREVENT anyone who wants it from doing it.IE. Drug are illegal but i can go ANYWHERE I want and find them even if I'm in a place im not familiar with.(you can even get drugs in prison)
They tried it with alchohol but you still had alchohol available to anyone who wanted it. All it did was make the criminals rich and be the only ones with it.
They made prostitution illegal, but anyone can go get a $20 blowjob in any city in america.
Just like all my previous examples, and its been stated many times over and over...
IF YOU MAKE GUNS ILLEGAL THEN ONLY CRIMINALS WILL OWN GUNS AND IT WILL NOT MAKE THEM ANYMORE DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN.
This is a prime example.
@ Moltz.... That is the ONLY way to deal with these kinds of situations.... swift and sure as the situation. allows. They don't deserve a "fair trial" any more than they will give their victims a "fair trial".. Kill them and move on.
Digressing a tad from central topic, nonetheless, one post here warrants some correction: The post that blames "rightist" ideology and the church, etc. Fact is, in Deutschland, the Nazi party ascended to power through their appeal to the labor movement, unions and other leftist plights. Hitler gained tremendous support from these ideas - then, the most abject form of oppression struch the people. These days in America we see troubling parallels with the appeal of the current Prez as our liberty is eroded with each passing day.
onlyyoucanchangethelaws,
Hmmmmmm.
Maybe you should do a bit more research, as citizens in German are allowed to own firearms. Go to wikipedia, and type in the phrase, "Gun politics in Germany."
I wondered how quickly the gun rights wackos would show up. Why is it that so many of the guns rights wackos seem to think that if you happen to carry a gun, that it will prevent all violent situations from happening? They tend to use such arguments as "if such and such had a gun...this would've never happened," or "if the public is armed...this tragedy would've never happened/people could've stopped this." Not necessarily.
Furthermore, many seem to be so ignorant of gun laws around the world. Most seem to think that in the U.K. you can't own any firearms, and that the increase in violent crimes is the result. In the U.K. you can own firearms, but it's a more lengthy process to obtain them. If the argument above was true, we should have virtually no violent crime given the number of gun owners in the U.S.
Do I think that guns should be banned? No, as it's a right in this country to own them. However, I am for better gun laws.
I have been to Karlsruhe several times. I lived in Germany over seven and a half years off and on. I actually felt safer in the German big cities than I do the USA's big cities. In Germany criminals feared the Polizei, but in the USA they don't fear the police because the USA police are so restricted due to civil suits and so-called "excessive force." In Germany the Polizei will kick your butt and not think twice about it. Sue the German Polizei? I have never heard of that. We need to stop restricting our police and military so much and we wouldn't have so much crime and wars wouldn't last so long either.
Here's the lowdown on what works, and what doesn't:
There are no guarantees in life, period. There is absolutely NO guarantee whatsoever in any specific situation that someone having a weapon with which to defend themselves will survive it at all, just as life vests and life boats being present did not save many thousands of people at sea over the past few centuries. Heck, police and soldiers are all armed and trained to be proficient with their issued weapons, yet look at all those who have been lost in the line of duty. The thing is, many more people would have met untimely deaths if not for various pieces of survival equipment, which a firearm is in the event of a combat situation. If someone attacks you and is trying to seriously injure or kill you, you are in a combat situation! Unless, of course, you choose to do nothing but sit there and let them succeed at their attack upon you. Some people will knowingly do just that, many more will unwittingly do that by inappropriately reacting to the situation. In fact, a good many people effectively get themselves killed by not staying alert to what's going on around them and thus failing to avoid bad situations as they start to develop. I tell you, it's tough to get mugged in a dark alley if you choose not to needlessly wander down dark allies late at night!
A considerable portion of the US population being allowed to carry concealed weapons (key words: being allowed to, not necessarily actually carrying weapons) is a powerful deterrent against many common criminals who randomly target citizens they encounter out in public. By 'common criminal', I'm talking about the person who may not even have a criminal record, but has always thought about or even fantasized about committing robbery, rape, or thrill killing. They're not total idiots, they're not really that much more evil than most of the rest of us, they're mostly curious or feeling a need to compensate for some perceived personal inadequacy. They're the kind of people who would readily do something if they knew that no one was looking, they'd never get caught, or if they did, the consequences would be slim to none. They're usually younger, most often employed, could be either gender, but usually male. They wouldn't make any move in front of a lot of potential witnesses, so they'd aim for seclusion of some sort (like a dark alley). They'd prey on someone smaller or else apparently less physically capable than themselves. It's knowing that anyone they pick out might just pull out a gun and shoot them with it that either keeps them from doing something like that at all, or else leads them to pick on someone they feel quite comfortable is unarmed.
In short, what we're talking about here is that it keeps the mostly honest people, well, honest.
When you're dealing with the true psychos out there, they don't care. They'll do things in broad daylight with a thousand people watching. If someone shoots them, oh well! In many cases, they're planning or at least wanting to die, anyway. They've probably been in and out of prison a number of times, have absolutely nothing going for them, and probably feel like they've got little or nothing to lose. They're also likely to be very angry at the rest of the world and everyone in it, too. If someone shoots them and stops them while they're committing a crime, so be it. But, realistically, it's not going to prevent them from committing a violent crime because either they're not smart enough to recognize that possible outcome as a bad thing or else they just don't care what happens.
So...
There is a large degree of truth in this, but not as much as many would think. Quite often, the police do an excellent job at what they do, which is taking lawbreakers into custody so they can be tried and convicted. It's the courts and the state (and sometimes Federal) corrections departments that drop the ball. The Federal system does have a lot of short prison sentences, but no parole. The various state systems will sentence people to many years' time behind bars, but then parole people who absolutely should not be let out for a variety of reasons. Any cop will tell you how frustrating it is to keep arresting the same people over and over again. And much of the time, each subsequent arrest is for something more serious than the last.
steve I did before your post and their laws are much more strict than ours!
As there is no way (like gun shows here) to buy an unregistered /unliscensed gun there and you need to get a lisence for each individual gun.
Uh, Mutch More...I checked all my liberties under POTUS Obama. Checked real good!!
Fact: They have NOT been eroded or lost!
Soooo.... your useless, BS, bumper-sticker whine is just that. Useless BS!!
BTW: Obama/Biden win in 29012! No doubt!!
Steve
Infact the link you suggest is in my original post!
Read the whole post not just the first sentence, then read the whole link and compare them to the laws here in the U.S.
Mutch, let me digress because I think your history needs to be corrected. Hitler attained power with the solid backing of a broad swath of German voters, but especially the middle class, public employees, the wealthy, as well as workers. In summary a general electorate that had little faith in the democratic process. If you were a 'leftist' in Germany at the time you would have most likely supported the Communist party, not Hitler. The financing to run Hitler's election campaigns to get to the chancellorship was heavily supported by wealthy industrialist, a solidly nationalist, conservative bloc that was hardly on the left. I can't change your opinion, but get the history straight before trying to make parallels where there are none unless you can show a specific erosion of your liberties under the present administration.
First, I'm not against the right to bare arms. But be honest with yourselves. Germany and countries with much stricter laws governing weapons have much lower crime rates. This may be caused by lower amounts of weapons or the lack of thinking they are needed so not pushing for more rights. The fact of the matter is that their crime rates are far far lower than ours in the US.
BTW German police don't kick butt, they don't get sued either. There cities having dramatically lower crime rates which makes them a little lazy and inexperienced. They are often joked about in German culture, but not hated like many cops are here. Different place.
@Mutch Moore The first thing the Nazi's did coming into power was abolish the unions and newspapers. They started a collection of those unions under corporate leadership, and called it social. They catered to the corporate interests that produced weapons and military tech which allowed them to advance their "Third Reich" movement. Germans today are the flip-side of that time, one of the reasons they want nothing to do with war at all, including joining us in the Iraq war. Read some history and stop listening to glen beck and Limbaugh's view of history. They are entertainment shows designed for one thing, selling products on their shows. Scare people into thinking the country is going to fall apart, sell survival packs of food. Scare people into thinking the dollar is going to be worthless, sell gold coins, which cost more than the gold. It's simple. Oh, and all the book sales. Buy a real historic book, read it, then buy another, read it, and another, then start piecing things together for yourself man.
Redphish: you're phishing for some logic - or to validate an illogical premise - to present your analogy that: since some murders, or any other crimes for that matter, can escape prosecution, we, the people at large, should forfeit our rights to gunownership because a sometimes a criminal misuse of a gun can occur.
and Taishmoser and C_D_J55. 1). Taishmose I do believe my "real" history check muster of pre-Nazi Germany and what catspulted the Furor into power. 2. C_D_J55. Better recheck your liberty index since your main man took office.... like that frog in water slowly brought to a boil, it'll catch you off guard before you can even react... you'll see.
They're not necessarily related.
First, the US would have much lower crime rates if people didn't keep re-offending. In most of the other countries, young people who step out of line are dealt with much more effectively than they are here. It can also be said that families are much more intact in most other nations, where extended family members usually live not all that far away and surnames are recognized within any given locality. If you do things that tarnish the family name, it will very much haunt you for the rest of your life unless you go somewhere else and completely start over. Most of us realize that is usually easier said than done! Here, people are scattered so far apart that if your name and picture appears in the newspaper after your arrest for something, unless it's truly heinous, most of your relatives won't find about about it. Then, of course, in a number of families, if they do learn of it, either they don't care - or worse, they're actually proud of you! Happens when your father, grandfathers, most of your uncles and cousins, and maybe even a few of the women in the family have all been in and out of prison. It almost becomes a right of passage rather than something to be ashamed of.
In many of those nations, there never really has been a 'gun culture' among common folk. The guns were had by the royalty and nobility, not the peasantry. In many places, especially Europe, the population density was such that only nobility or royalty had the real estate on which to actually use firearms for hunting or recreation. The greater share of Europeans have lived in cities for hundreds of years now, and since guns were an expensive luxury item in much of Europe, why own one if you can't use it, or just have no use for it, period? In contrast, the US has always been much more rural with a majority of the population rural until the mid 20th century. Not only was there all kinds of land to go out and hunt or shoot on, in many cases, hunting was key to survival. This was very true in pioneer days, but even in the great depression and through WWII it was quite true.
Most Europeans had little to no exposure to firearms while growing up. Many men were exposed to them in conscripted military service, but strangely, no one really seems to want to relive those days of their life for some reason...
In America, a very high percentage of the population grew up on farms and in households where firearms were present and used at least occasionally, so there was exposure. Yes, there was a good deal of military exposure, too, however, US vets are more likely to be proud of their service and have good memories of their days in uniform than they are to want to forget them.
It can also be said that in most other parts of the world, the wealthy who had guns were much less than 1% of the population, and there wasn't much of a middle class, either. Society tended to be much more homogeneous. Your standard of living may not have been all that great in many decades, but at least you were pretty much as well off as any of your neighbors - the wealthy kept themselves well separated from everyone else. There wasn't much to be jealous of, which is an ongoing problem in the US where things are much more diverse. We have many races of people who do not always get along, and many different strata of social status living in close proximity to each other. If you're down and out, it can seem like the whole rest of the world is rubbing it in your face because you can see their nice homes, cars, clothing, and other possessions. A lot of disaffected youth have a real problem with being the 'have-not' type in a very materialistic world and react accordingly.
Excellent post TiGor, very realistic.
Obama/Biden win in 29012! No doubt!! LOL! By then, even I might be a liberal. NOT!
looks like socialism of europe is failing. the big bro can't support all the people all the time notwothstanding his exaggerated pretensions.
Today its "socialism", yesterday it was "liberals". And how many times hundreds of times have you asked about the race of the perp, hoping it would confirm your racist stereotypes? You right wing neo-Nazi racist.Yup, all the problems are with the left, the right ie.Nazis have never caused any problems in your eyes, or murdered any innocent victims here in the US. The right-wing is just a stalking horse for Fascism and Totalitarianism, all under the guise of "benevolent" corporations and "godly" churches.
George, did you even read this article? Eviction for non payment of rent is hardly a socialist concept, nor is the individual ownership of guns. If you ever spent any time in Europe, particularly Northern Europe, you would understand how uninformed your post truly is.
George....Germany is actually prospering and this is an everyday thing anywhere in the world. My question is why in the hell would the next renter be part of this process? Hey get out, this is my place now? This was obviously handled poorly and a tragic result for many families.
George,
"looks like socialism of europe is failing"
It looks more to me like Germany may be trying to compete with the U.S. when it comes to mass shootings, but I think we have them beat hands down in that category. They will never catch up with us. Their gun laws just must not be liberal enough for that.
Looks like GEORGE is just another miserable curmudgeon, randomly ranting from the comfort of his hovel to show his ignorant, uneducated arse. I bet ANY story about i.e. foreign cars or Chilean wine or hobby bee-keeping would make him go off on a bizarre anti-socialist palaver! Keep it up: the world is watching! You are just a poor reflection of (most likely from the UGLY side of America) with your illogical conclusions and prostrating yourself as one of 'America's WEAKEST links'... laughable if not pathetic!
Ok, enough about George - he has his opinion like you do yours, so get back to the article people. The fact of the matter is that there has to be much more to the " rest of the story". First, Germany has some of the most restrictive gun laws in Europe, so the question has to be asked, "How did the shooter come to own firearms and a grenade". Second, Germany has some of the most liberal rental laws in Europe; they just don't go in to evict someone over-night. Third, Germanys liberal social welfare system worked just fine before the wall fell, and has been crumbling ever since due to the influx of former East Germans and other Eastern Europeans of German ancestry that flooded in the country driving unemployment up and the economy down. MANY of these people came from countries where it was, and IS, VERY easy to obtain weapons and explosives - like the Czech Republic and Republic of Slovakia. Fourth, with the advent of EUCOM and open borders, it is not difficult for someone just to drive into Germany with whatever they want to use to kill people with. Lots of facts I'm throwing out, but like I said, "the rest of the story" needs to be told. Fifth - comparing the issues in Germany to those in the USA IS comparing apples with oranges - they are much more screwed up than we are regardless of what ex-pats and Germanphiles would like us to believe. I know, I've lived there as well. If Americans had to live under their political system there would be blood in the streets! Enough said.
Oh, it's failing with a little over 5% unemployment, universal health care and at least 3 to 4 times longer vacation times than US.
Not to mention all other benefits and being one of few countries with strong economic.
I must say Germany is getting it really bad. If I didn't have to study German as 4th language, I would move there in a heart beat with my uncle who is living in Frankfurt now.
What are you comparing too, USA does not have a system, except police shoot and kill 3 people here every day!--We have lots of police--it must be that the rich are afraid of loosing their stash here--so the government are their protectors!
may be true but capitalism has surely failed in this country.
CuongNguyen - and you would be eligible for NONE of the benefits you so admirably descrife unless you are a German Citizen or in one of the few labor unions that provide benefits to non-german workers. . Want to know how long it takes to get citizenship in Germany if you are not of German ancestry - up to 25 years! Ask the Turks, Greeks, Poles, Czechs and others living in Germany how many of them receive long vacations and "cures' at Spas. I suggest you move there and live with your Uncle a while and see how they like Vietnamese. Most Germans ascribe to the mantra of "Germany is for Germans", and they practice what they preach.
It's the capitalists that evicted the tenent. Capitalism has it's own ways of victimizing the poor. Let's face it, each system makes victims in some way or another.
Charles the Hammerhead... Dude, you don't pay the rent, you get evicted. You're not on the lease, you get evicted. What does that have to do with capitalists? Should all residents be rent free?
What is it with Americans that a random story, like this one about some tragic violence, always becomes the catalyst for individuals prostrating themselves as 'vindicated' that in the end 'they, 'those foreigners' (and their political system) are messed up' and there would be 'blood in the streets' if we (in America) had THAT here?
It's always US vs. THEM! Good guy vs. Bad guy, black and white, few shades of grey! But no wonder, kids are conditioned to that rich-kid vs poor kid, 'us vs. them', amped-up TEAM-spirit in high-school against OTHER schools, the imaginary enemy... and the two-party political system continues that tradition through adulthood! Little dialog, mostly just butting heads! Maybe that is a source for a lot of our problems? From unions to glorified violence in Hollywood (so-called ACTION) movies, to the punks who emulate their 'heros' and rather want to go out with a BANG!? Between loving and loathing of American culture you can't escape it anywhere...
The alleged deficiancies of the political system in Germany, with TRUE new ideas and parties emerging are actually much more able to address public sentiment than the cold-war-left-over American TWO-PARTY system that waves the flags for the American oligarchy, run by mostly attorneys and lobbyists.
Say what you want; anecdotal, far-away violence like this is hardly reason to fiendishly gloat with nationalist Schadenfreude and boast about the alleged 'superiority' of our own patriot ways.
I wonder, what if THIS country had been divided for half a century with (let's say) a communist South and an Iron curtain which one day came down and the whole decrepit mess had to be absorbed... East Germany cost the West about $100BILLION each year for 20 years! ...but of course the analogy doesn't even begin to capture the true realities: the dispossessed, unemployed and criminal gangs coming from anywhere beyond too; from Poland to Ukraine and Russia to name a few... and considering that Germany dodged the PONZI-schemes of the US banking oligarchs that infected all the 'conservative' pro-business in Spain, Ireland, Greece and Italy... Capitalism and economic prosperity in Germany are well and alive, although with much more empathy for 'the others', the disadvantaged.
And that with a low unemployment rate (about 5%) massive trade surpluses created by the massive German 'Mittelstand' midsized companies making quality products... Germans have been frugal, by-passed real estate speculation, unions sit on the BOARD and settle for 'reasonable' increases etc. And now end up pay-masters for all the amateur (conservative capitalist) schemes of Southern Europe! Not all is perfect, but a random act of a lonely loony going beserk and destructive American-style, is hardly a sign for systemic German failures..
whats in my pocketes can you guess?
northlite hate to be one to tell you but its the american left that closely resembles the nazis not the right.just look at gun control something libs love ,who was the father of modern gun control? who uses unions to gain political power? uncle adolf did! what side of the political spectrum supports genocide? wants the govt to tell people how to lead every aspect of thier life ?the parallels between american liberals and national socialists (nazis)in germany are just too many and too scary to think about.but what scares me the most is that both of them to get thier way they half to disarm the citizens and THAT IS the truth.
@JP-345944
Yes, but you can't deny that Germany is doing much better than US now.
As for Vietnamese not being treat well, my uncle live there for 20 years and he begs to say a different. My cousin married a German guy and they have 2 beautiful girls right now. They met in university and he sold one of his houses before the wedding to help her parents at Vietnam. He is a cop, btw.
I admit, there are plenty of place in German that discriminate against others, but US also has the same problem. Ever travel to the red state? The last time I went there, 3 guys holding guns and hand me a paper warning about Muslim and such at the gas stop. Also, the last 3 1/2 years show me that US is just as racist as lots of countries in the world.
I am single, I can just move to German and married there, faster citizenship that way.
@JP , I lived in Germany for 7 years. I worked and studied there. Their immigration standards are not as difficult as ours. Though having a child in the country does not make the child German. First working visa is one year, second is 2 years, then a 3 year, then a permanent visa. Though you are not a citizen you are eligible for most of their rights. I was able to study for 60 dollars a semester at a 650 year old university for my masters degree in theoretical physics. German engineers and scientists are top notch in the world.
They have a huge social safety. Makes ours look pathetic. Costs a third per capita for health care. They have as advanced medicine as us, half our medical tech comes from germany now. Universal healthcare. They have much lower unemployed, lower crime rate, lower drug abuse rates, about a tenth our teen pregnancy rate, lower poverty levels, and their surplus from exports vs imports is crazy. They actually have stronger sales to china then china does to them. Their population is extremely educated, universal education, they are an economical power house for the size of their population. You are silly if you think you wouldn't be able to live there. Their homes are built better as well. Their powerline are underground, which makes power outages almost unheard of.
Sad for the victims but refreshing to know it's not just Merkins off the deep end these days.
And here I thought it was just us all @!$%#ed up in the head.
And just a few weeks ago these snots were bragging about the low number of rounds fired by the police. The gentle approach works!
I have been to Karlsruhe several times. I lived in Germany over seven and a half years off and on. I actually felt safer in the German big cities than I do the USA's big cities. In Germany criminals feared the Polizei, but in the USA they don't fear the police because the USA police are so restricted due to civil suits and so-called "excessive force." We need to stop restricting our police and military so much and we wouldn't have so much crime and wars wouldn't last so long either.
Though the police do not fear law suites, the police in Germany are not feared at all. The German culture is much more relaxed and less angry than ours. Just from the reflection of what they watch on tv shows this. Breast are okay, but heavy violence is restricted during the day. After 9 o'clock violence on tv is okay but with viewer warning. Their crime rate is just way lower, maybe it is that their social nets work better.
Tell that to Turkish migrant workers.
What makes these Republican TeaBilly's so Evil and Violent? Is it da Sarah Palin Books?
Any word from the NRA?
Did you ever learn in school how to pay attention to what you're reading? The last time I looked, this was an article about a shootig in Germany not the NRA or Sarah Palin.
WTF!!what does sarah palin or the nra have to do with this? you are just another jacktard lib who looks to blame the nra or gunowners for some wack job shooting someone!!! please someone correct me if i am wrong but isn't very difficult to ogtain guns in germany? so how could this happen ?
Jst, sadly there is just ignorant people on both sides. You're proof. This article has nothing to do with SP or the NRA. Guns are difficult to obtain in Germany. You have to take safety classes on their use and how to store them properly before owning one. Their crime rate is considerably lower than ours though.
Dumb libetard!
Funny how Switzerland has the lowest crime rate in the world and the government issues you a gun when you turn 17 so everybody knows you are armed...its called respect and people knowing you can defend yourself
Oh quit the holier than thou crap. Something like this happens in Germany once in a blue moon. Here it's a daily occurrence, many times in multiple locations. If Germany is serious about competing they need to start their own version of the NRA and then start getting millions of more guns out there.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but tens of thousands of Germans own everything from handguns to semi-automatic rifles.
Ahh, but there are millions of guns each year being circulate without any knowledge from those gun show case. NRA has been working hard to make it almost impossible to track those guns.
Ever read the 2nd Ammendment of the Constitution of the United States - Bill of Rights AND Supreme Court rulings on the right of americans to bear arms. Want to know what happens when the wrong guys get the better weapons and the people lose their means to resist - study the history of the land of your ancestry.
@ mickey1983943
@gemininimeg...
Yes while things like this happen less often than in the U.S., Germany is 1/27th the size of the U.S. so it stands to reason that we would have 27 times the amount of gun crimes. If you want to compare a statistic this way, try comparing it to a comperrable sized state like montana or even arizona. Or if you wanted to compare population to population you woud have to only include say Florida California and Texas. But just comparing country to country makes no sense.
And, we have a racial class that occupies on 12% of the population yet commits 85% of all murders. If it weren't for that racial class of people in the USA, we would have the gun ownership levels we have with next to zero gun crime.
I lived in Germany over seven and a half years off and on. I actually felt safer in the German big cities than I do the USA's big cities. In Germany criminals feared the Polizei, but in the USA they don't fear the police because the USA police are so restricted due to civil suits and so-called "excessive force." Says Brandon the Newsvine's own personal racist. Wow I just got through watching a series on the MOB on Bio and that "racial class" hasn't even begun to touch the level of death that the Mob dealt out.
That's the whole point Laurel. To restrict and perpetuate. Same reason they won't legalize weed, it is a large part of the factor that helps perpetuate the for profit prison system they have set up in this nation. All of the revenue from confiscations is just a huge bonus. In this nation EVERYTHING is ALL about money.
@Gerard1234
Millions of unregistered guns each year make us much safer, right? NOT.
You seem to fail to use logic here, we are not talking about restriction of guns, we are talking about guns that can't be trace. Fast and Furious only have 2000 guns, but you guys screamed so loud. However, that is only a small numbers compared to unregistered guns due to NRA. Where is all the outrage when people got kill by unregistered guns for decades?
@onlyyou
Germany is has 85 million people, the US 320 million. So they have a little over 1/4 of our population and not 1/27th.
"Okay, let's do the math: Murders per 1.000.000 inhabitants in the US: 56,3. And in Germany: 9,7. That means the murder rate is nearly six times higher in the US than in Germany."
"In the US, there are roughly 17,000 murders a year, of which about 15,000 are committed with firearms. By contrast, Britain, Australia and Canada combined see fewer than 350 gun-related murders each year. And it's not just about murder. The non-gun-related suicide rate in the US is consistent with the rest of the developed world. Factor in firearms, and the rate is suddenly twice as high as the rest of the developed world.
Children are affected particularly hard. An American youth is murdered with a firearm every four and a half hours on average. And an American youth commits suicide with a firearm every eight hours. It's worth remembering that many of the most spectacular mass murders of recent years were really suicides, with the perpetrators choosing to take a few other people with them while they were at it."
Frieden.
This is local news. The only reason we are seeing it here is that the gun grabbers are desperate to keep us mired in the belief that guns kill people. We all know that people kill people. If he had stabbed or poisoned them we'd never hear of it.
Nuclear bombs don't kill, people do, so let's relax about Iran.
On the other hand, the eviction was a success!
Can't think of a more permanent eviction!
Not only evicted from the apartment but this life, too. Maybe he'll be evicted in the afterlife. LOL
The worst thing to happen to anyone, "The Apartment's New Renter", just got killed for renting this guy's appartment.
Another example of gun control working so wonderfully...........This and other crimes is exactly what happens when good standing citizens are denied their rights to defend themselves, and are left at the mercy of the psychopaths and otherwise criminals, without any form of protection. The government should be held accountable for not protecting the citizens, AND for not allowing them to defend themselves.
It is much more than the right to have arms, it is about the right to live and not be led to slaughter, once again, thanks to the liberals incompetence on the issues at hand. If a government fears it's good standing adult citizens having weapons, then it is likely the government who intends on victimizing them.
Look up the occurrences of shootings per capita between Germany and the United States, and you'll see how much of a fool you look.
Ranman87, take a look at this at wikipedia;
HomicideThe US homicide rate, which has declined substantially since 1991 from a rate per 100,000 persons of 9.8 to 4.8 in 2010, is still among the highest in the industrialized world. There were 14,748 murders in the United States in 2010[29] (666,160 murders from 1960 to 1996).[30] In 2004, there were 5.5 homicides for every 100,000 persons, roughly three times as high as Canada (1.9) and six times as high as Germany (0.9).
so, who's right?
I say shootings per capita, and he looks up homicides.
What a genius. You realize people can be shot without being murdered, correct?
PrivateMilitaryContractor: You present an important but often overlooked point. Indeed, the gov. puts us between that proverbial rock and a very hard place when they stifle our ability to defend ourselves while at the same time having inept, incompetent, often affirmative action hired police.
And 25,000 homicides by DUI, only 100% more than firearms!
When NY broke the Constitution and outlawed gun ownership the gangs made their own by using a block of wood, a curtain rod, a paper clip, a clothes pin and a rubber band. It was called a ZIP gun. Sooner or later the idiots realized that if they were to get on a bus and go across state lines they could buy real guns. If all guns were outlawed then people would merely make their own or buy from someone else who could make them. Gun Laws dont work, they never have and they never will. How could they when this country's Constitution specifically allows private ownership of them.
How many shots were these zip guns?
That's as stupid as saying the since there are murders, we should toss laws against it out. I fully believe in the right for law-abiding citizens to own firearms. I disagree with people who think there sould be no restrictions regarding gun ownership. For example, I don't think people that are diagnosed with schizophrenia should be trusted to own one.
This guy really didn't like paying his rent, but he sure as hell could afford cash for his weapons.
Mmmm?
Something smells here.
My condolences to all the victims families, tragic, no one saw this one coming.....
Why would they take the new renter to the apartment BEFORE the old one was successfully moved out?
Where is Trayvon when you need him???????
Glass A$$ Hole this was in Germany .. NOT Florida ..... and the perp did not get to go home and have a cup of hot chocolate afterwards!!!!!!
Geez the racists can't give it a rest even when it is in someone else's country!!!!
People are evicted every day for YEARS now, this kind of crap didn't just start. If you don't pay your rent, you will be evicted. If you kill others during the eviction process you will be killed and not NEED a home.
DUH!
Hey assjaw-2805818 can't you think of something else to yap about, like the article?
You liberals are ruining the world....
And boiling up the ingredients for one hell of a bloody war all rolled into one!
That is what you call a "Bad Scene"
Five dead Nazis, why is this even news? Germany should have been nuked into oblivian in 1945 for their murderous ways and stupidity. No German should have been allowed to live for supporting Hitler, except for the half dozen or so who had the balls to oppose him. Nearly all Germans were all too willing participants in the genocide of the holocaust. They viewd the Hitler years as "The Good Old Days" well into the 1980s and beyond. I say Fk-em.
Hey Larue Lindsay!
Time for your meds and a nice nappy poo.
Wow, and wow, you're off the deep end. By your logic most of Americans should be nuked for the genocide of the native Americans. Germans today are way more peaceful than we are in the US today. There is even more neo-nazi's in the us per ca pita than in Germany.
HeuCuong you sound like you work for the corrupt communist democratic party that wants this country to be turned into communist russia or china genocide and mass murder cannot be successful without the elimination of all private means of self defense. The current administration is selling military weaponry to the cartel in collussion with the german govt and having people like yourself utter bald face lies to have the public believe that the govt motives and intentions are upright and that people need to fear all people who own guns. when the truth is exactly the opposite. There is conspiricy rampant in this world and the because of the darkness of this nation in forsaking their Maker they are now beginning to feel the effects of His curse for so doing. Obama is a homosexual drug user whio is being groomed by the communist banking cartel (the federal reserve) to become the dictator of this nation. He is exceedingly racist and wants to see white people enslaved then slaughtered, for that was the plan of civil rights from the beginning and the mandates followed by the homosexual martin luther king came from joseph stalin at the world communist convention held in moscow in 1928. Tyrants inherently fear the people over whom they seek to impose their wlll. Force of arms is the last argument to which tyrants resort. communist penetration in the federal governent is heavy, and considering the history of communism and and the mass murder of over 150,000,000 in less than a century, my reasoning is by no means skewed. All commnunists do is lie and murder
I agree, your reasoning isn't skewed. It's nonexistent.
Hey Larue Stalin killed more people than Pol Pot ,Ghengis Kahn, and Hitler combined , but unlike Germany we never heard of any war crimes trials for for the communist monstors who committed these terrible deeds can you think of any reason why? because communism never fell. The Federal Reserve is Communist, they financed the bolshevik revolution in1917
Wanna kill somebody?
Kill the greedy landlords!
Oh, I thought Germany had gun control that was supposed to prevent all of this from happening! /sarcasm
Gun laws in Germany are rather strict as compared to the US but the rates of gun related violence are a fraction of what they are in this country.
America doesn't have a gun problem, we have a class of people that make up a mere 12% of the population yet make up 85% of our homocide rate. Without said racial class of people, we would have next to no crime whatsoever.
I hear ya, and that element of society kills much more of a percentage of themselves than any other, so I say give em all the damn guns and ammo they want!
