Two more Syrian generals defect, flee to Turkey overnight

ISTANBUL, Turkey - Two Syrian brigadier-generals fled to Turkey overnight, part of a group of about 10 people that included colonels and other military officers, a Turkish official told Reuters on Saturday.

The latest defections would bring the number of Syrian generals taking refuge in Turkey to 24.

A 16-month uprising in Syria has unleashed a refugee crisis in Turkey and its other neighbors. More than 43,000 Syrian refugees are registered as living in Turkey.

Meanwhile, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on Saturday that he is sending an envoy to Syria to assess the situation as Syrian government forces and rebels battle for control of the country.

"I am sending my Undersecretary General for Peacekeeping Operations (Hervé Ladsous) to Syria to assess the situation as well as the top U.N. military advisor to lead UNSMIS (mission) in this critical phase," Ban said after meeting top Croatian officials in the Adriatic resort of Brijuni.

UN extends Syria observer mission as fighting continues

Ban's remarks came a day after the U.N. Security Council approved a 30-day extension for an unarmed observer mission, the only international military mission on the ground, and after Russia and China vetoed a resolution to impose further sanctions on the government of Syrian president Bashar Assad.

What an interesting and telling statement from the head of the UN.

(chilling at a posh resort with some buds)

Seems to me Hervé Ladsous and top U.N. military advisor have been pathetically ineffective in UNSMIS (United Nations Supervision Mission in Syria)

The UN is as useless as teets on a boar hog!

This all part of in the Last days of Prophecy

Jeremiah said in Ch 49

Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized
on her: anguish and sorrows have taken
her, as a woman in travail. How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy! Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of
war (not just a few) shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.

There is still time to prepare for the Big Big day ............ but not alot.

Russia has a much much bigger prize in mind. Only to be eventually thwarted and destroyed when they enter the valley of Megido.

FYI next weekend is "the Nineth of Av" Tisha B'Av

The UN and this Kofi Annan character need to quit wasting thier time. Stay out of that country. Syria is now the epicenter of sectarian conflict. Syria has been a perfect storm brewing for a long time. Sunni militants are flocking to this place from all over the ME to destabilize the alawite gov and make Syria even more of a safe haven for militancy.

I also think Secretary Clinton needs to quit blabbing her mouth to the world like we're the frikin world police. Anyone seen her lately? How can anyone respect that woman and her words? She makes if perfectly clear that she represents the puppet master.

God bless The USA because we're going to need a blessing.

Those people being murdered in Syria need the US's guns that are being used on the streets to kill US citizens and children.I don't want to see the bloodshed that is going to come about when they try to take our guns away from us but we don't need so many guns that gangs use them just for killing.Everybody that wants to stop killing, send your guns to the people of Syria that need them.Another thing, would you trust one of those generals that defected?I bet a few of them have blood on their hands to.

If there is one thing consistent about the culture of the Middle East is that they will turn on one another in a flash. Playing both sides is an inbred trait. These generals who defected, and were part of this regime for decades probably hope to get a free pass if the government falls and return as heroes in a new government run by Islamists.

Honor, loyalty, trust, have no meaning in this part of the world or has it for four thousand years. Someone new for Obama to bow to but he best make it quick. His time isalso running out.

Sounds like the Obama Administration has been copied in Syria. We have one government employee for every 100 Americans....They have one general for every 100 citizens. Maybe Obama, could advise him on "Executive Privelge" so Asaad, could work like Obama and Holder do, when they try and hide the facts about running guns to Mexico. One looks like the other. The big difference, in Syria, the people want Asaad out, and I hope we do the same with Obama, after the election.

freedman1 I hear exactly what you are saying. I don't think that it is a big conspiracy though. The middle east is an absolutely difficult region of the world to deal with. The middle east is of vital economic importance perhaps not to the U.S. directly but to our allies. We certainly need friends over their yet the unrelenting hold over society that radical islam has is unbearable. I do see Sunni Islam has some very radical elements but it seems most in the middle east are Sunni! Then you have the Israeli question as well. I can only imagine how hard it is to deal with folks if your Israel. It seems no peace will be excepted by the muslim community in the middle east unless Israel is destroyed. Well I can tell you no nation will stand by willingly and allow their nation to be destroyed so thats not going to happen. In short it's a mess and until the Arab world recognizes Israel and modernizes Islam nothing will change. Good Day, Joe.

There is also Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Turkish leader has also been a repeated critic of Israel. Relations between the two states have been spiraling downward since last year, when Israeli commandos raided a Turkish aid flotilla headed for the Gaza Strip, killing nine Turkish citizens. Turkey downgraded relations, and Erdogan says ties will not improve until Israel apologizes and meets other demands.

In addition, Erdogan has been a strong supporter of the Palestinians. He is currently so popular in the Palestinian territories that his photo is prominently displayed in many public places.

He sees the U.S. as standing in the way of the Palestinian people and their attempt to achieve statehood at the U.N. He says he has "no doubt" that the U.S. image in the region has been harmed by the Obama administration's opposition to the Palestinian's U.N. bid.

Well this saysit all about how pathetically ineffective the UN is. He is sending a French diplomat to report back that there is a civil war in Syria; the top UN military advisor doesn't seem to be having much success. What will the UNSMIS (United Nations Supervision Mission in Syria) be doing; looking for better hiding places for the 300 members stationed there.

Hold on a second here. They aren't fleeing the country because they fear their government. These generals are fleeing because they don't want to be around when Syria falls to the rebels. They will be drug in the streets behind a small pick up truck for the crimes they committed. This is a coup of the highest order. What did they say when they arrived in Turkey? We are innocent, Assad made us do it? Islamofacistnazis, all of them.
