Police converge Thursday on the scene at an apartment at Los Junquillos district in La Linea de la Concepcion, Cadiz, Spain, where a Turkish man allegedly linked to al-Qaida was arrested.
MADRID - Three people linked to al-Qaida have been arrested in the south of Spain, one in possession of explosives they planned to use in attacks in either the Iberian country or other European nations, Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz said Thursday.
He said police near Ciudad Real arrested on Wednesday two al-Qaida members from ex-Soviet republics who were likely heading to France, and a Turkish man near Cadiz whose house was searched and where explosives were found.
The minister said one of the two arrested near Ciudad Real was a senior al-Qaida operative who had extensive experience in bomb-making.
"It is one of the most important operations against al-Qaida to date to be carried out on an international level," he said.

"There are clear indications that the suspects arrested could have been planning an attack in Spain, and or, other European countries," the minister told a news conference.
He said the operation was conducted with the help of other international police forces, and that the explosive material was being analyzed. No details were given on how much material was found, though the minister said it was enough to blow up a bus.

An attack in 2004 targeting the Madrid train system that killed 191 people was blamed on al-Qaida.

Followers of Islamic cult, especially Sunni Saudi inspired Islamic radicals and militants (al-Qaida, Salaffi, Wahhabi, MB and other label ones), are fast marching backwards to their seventh century desert tribal days.
They are indulging in rapings, lootings, killings and genocides of non-Muslims (Darfur, S. Sudan, Nigeria and spreading like wild fire in many regions and Muslims (Mali, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other places.
Sunni Saudi backed Salaffi and MB new chapters are opening up in Egypt. Just watch the fate of Christians, women and Israel as the time goes by.
Even in Syria, if Assad is overthrown by Sunni Islamic religious Nazis like al-Qaida, MB, the conditions of Christians will be unbearable just like Iraq.
We see Muslims inventing problems in most of the non-Muslim nations.

When Muslims form more than five percent, downhill march starts. Spain, France are some examples.

Thanks Jonathon, so totally correct and well stated! Islam is the scourge of the world and the cowardly terrorists will never be stopped until the world declares war on this cruel, illiterate, hate filled culture that tries to disguise itself as a religion. Islam is not a religion, it is a backward, hate filled culture and the civilized world must unite and stop this killing culture once and for all. Only the fooish and uncomprehending people fail to understand that even the purported 'peaceful' muslims quietly support this violence. Stamp out this culture, begin with any and every muslim.
Maybe now the US will re-evaluate its alliance with Turkey.
Why? Because one of the conspirators happened to be Turkish? You know, there are (or have been) Americans in senior positions with al-Qaida. Does that mean we should re-evaluate our alliance with ourselves?
This cannot be true...we were just told by the Administration yesterday that al- Qaida had been damaged to the point of being dismantled.................
For this reason, al-Qaida is on the march in Syria, Mali and other places.
