'People need help': Iran hospitals swamped by earthquake victims

Updated at 1:33 p.m. ET: Overcrowded hospitals in northwestern Iran struggled to cope with thousands of earthquake victims on Sunday and rescuers raced to reach remote villages after two powerful quakes killed nearly 300 people and injured 5,000.

Thousands huddled in makeshift camps or slept in the street after Saturday's quakes in fear of more aftershocks, 60 of which had already struck. A lack of tents and other supplies left them exposed to the night chill, one witness told Reuters.

"I saw some people whose entire home was destroyed, and all their livestock killed," Tahir Sadati, a local photographer, said by telephone. "People need help, they need warm clothes, more tents, blankets and bread."

The worst damage and most casualties appeared to have been in rural villages around the towns of Ahar, Varzaghan and Harees, near the major city of Tabriz, Iranian media reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured Saturday's first quake at 6.4 magnitude and said it struck 37 miles northeast of the city of Tabriz, a trading hub far from Iran's oil-producing areas and known nuclear facilities.

Tabriz resident Ahmad, 41, told Reuters his cousin living in a village near Ahar was killed and that his body had already been found.

"Nobody knows what happened to his wife and two daughters," aged 4 and 7, Ahmad said. "We fear that if rescuers don't get to them soon, they will lose their lives too if they're still alive."

Hundreds of people were killed and more 2,000 were injured in northwest Iran.

Iranian officials said rescue operations had ended by Sunday afternoon and that all those trapped beneath the rubble had been freed, Iran's English-language Press TV reported. But the head of Iran’s Relief and Emergency Organization said that rescue operations were continuing, according to the New York Times.

Many villages are hard to reach by road, hindering rescue efforts. Hospitals in Tabriz, Ardabil and other cities nearby took in many of the injured, residents and Iranian media said, and there were long queues of survivors waiting to be treated.

"I wanted to go there last night to help but heard there was bad traffic and that it wasn't safe enough," Ahmad said. "People in those villages need help."

Aidin, a Tabriz resident, said he went to give blood at a local hospital on Saturday and saw staff struggling to cope with the influx of patients. Most patients had been taken there by their families, he said, indicating a shortage of ambulances.

Ahar's 120-bed hospital was full, said Arash, a college student and resident of the town. There were traffic jams on the narrow road between Ahar and Tabriz as victims tried to reach hospitals, he said by telephone.

Villages destroyed
"People are scared and won't go back into their houses because they fear the buildings aren't safe."

The second, measuring 6.3, struck 11 minutes later near Varzaghan, 30 miles northeast of Tabriz.

More than 1,000 villages in the area were affected by the earthquakes, Ahmad Reza Shaji'i, a Red Crescent official, told the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA). About 130 villages suffered more than 70 percent damage, and 20 villages were completely destroyed, he said.

"We saw some villages that were truly destroyed," said Sadati, the photographer who was documenting the quake aftermath. "One good thing was that the earthquake happened during the day, so many people were not in their homes. If it had happened at night the casualties would have been far worse."

Close to 300 people were believed to be dead, said Reza Sadighi, Ahar's local governor, Fars news agency said. National emergency head Gholam Reza Masoumi said 5,000 people are believed to be injured, according to ISNA.

“Most of the dead are women and children, as the earthquake happened during the day, when many men were out working,” said Marjan Lagaei, an Iranian reporter who traveled to the area, told the New York Times.

Nearly 100 ambulances and 1,100 Red Crescent workers were deployed, Shaji'i said, along with 44,000 food packages and 5,600 tents for shelter. The relief agency had enough supplies and most residents in the area had access to clean water but Shaji'i asked residents to donate cash to the relief effort.

Officials in Tehran extended condolences to the victims and declared two days of mourning to be held in the province, ISNA reported.

About 16,000 people in the quake-hit area have been given emergency shelter, Red Crescent official Mahmoud Mozafar told Mehr news agency.

Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Hassan-Nejad warned that if relief efforts did not speed up, the death toll would swiftly rise.

"Relief groups have still not reached many villages, because in normal conditions some of these villages are several hours away," he told ISNA. "Currently the roads are closed and the only way to reach these villages is by air."

Collapsed buildings
Photographs posted on Iranian news websites showed numerous bodies, including children, lying on the floor of a white-tiled morgue in Ahar and medical staff treating the injured in the open air as dusk fell on Saturday. Other images showed rescue workers digging people out of rubble - some alive, many dead.

Iran is crisscrossed by major fault lines and has suffered several devastating earthquakes in recent years, including a 6.6 magnitude quake in 2003 that reduced the historic southeastern city of Bam to dust and killed about 31,000 people.

Saturday's quakes struck in East Azerbaijan province, a mountainous region that neighbors Azerbaijan and Armenia to the north. Buildings in Tabriz, the provincial capital, are substantially built and ISNA reported nobody in the city had been killed or hurt.

Homes and business premises in Iranian villages, however, are often made of concrete blocks or mud brick that can crumble and collapse in a strong quake.

Water, electricity, and phone lines in the area of Varzaghan are all down, further hindering rescue efforts, Iran's English-language Press TV reported.

Tabriz residents left their homes and crowded the streets following the two quakes, those in the city said. "Everyone was scared last night," a resident said by telephone. "They set up tents and were sleeping in the streets and in parks."

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday expressing his sympathy and offering assistance, the Kremlin's press service said.

Pope Benedict XVI asked Christians to pray for the victims of the quakes.

Nuclear nothing for them. Ultimately the CIA or the Mossad will be blamed for the earthquake by Ahmadinejad and his masters the ayatollahs, and some poor Iranian student will be forced to confess that he was paid and trained by the Israelis to set off the quake.

Dan. Iran does not need a reason to hate Americans. It is bred into them as chidlren. There was a time when Iranians loved Americans, but under the present RULERs, they have been taught that everything that is wrong with Iran is because of the Americans.

Americans send aid to Iran when there are disasters. Eventhough that money will never make it to the people if Iran who need the assistance. Not everybody "gives" money to coutries that would rather see you dead.

Houstonite - You should bear in mind that Americans were also deeply involved in the toppling of Iran's democratic government, way back in the 1950s. It might be that Iran still harbors some resentment over that act.

Houstonite doesn't know jack squat about what Iranians think. All he knows is what the Zionist media wants him to think, because he doesn't have a functioning brain. Iranians are the same as Americans or Europeans. If a country gives them a reason to hate, they will hate.

Right now, America and Israel are behind sanctions in an effort to crush the Iranian economy. Should they be sending "thank you" notes to us? Iran has not attacked another nation in well over 100 years and has never attacked America or Israel, even though we were behind the overthrow of their democratically elected leader.

The hatred from Zionists against Iranians and Muslims in general, on these forums, is truly something to behold. How many times have they called for turning Iran into glass and insulted their intelligence?

Hell, Israel must not even be able support themselves. They are always crying for more aid and weapons from America. Imagine, they have absolutely no pride and must grovel for handouts from America.

Really? When was that? When we installed that psychopathic puppet Sha of Iran as their dictator leader courtesy of the CIA? Or was it before that time when Anglo Saxon oil company was stealing the oil from the Iranians? Because of people like you I pray that Iran builds fission fusion bombs.

Get over it. 59 years is a long time. It's time for Iran to move on. BTW, Iran has attacked Israel through its proxy Hezbollah and other countries through its agents abroad. Or doesn't that count?

Let us not forget the 1 million dead when Iraq and Iran, both peace-loving muslim countries, fought each other for 10 years. And for those who think the anglo-saxons stole the oil from the Iranians, think again, they sold it, as their camels and tents had no need for it. The electricity, printed books, computers, automobiles, etc, are all things they got from the anglo-saxons. But hey, they did give us those really cool rugs.

Building houses out of stones in an earthquake area is a recipe for lots of deaths and injuries.

Maybe they should grind up the stones and use them in some type of reinforced concrete. At least they might stand a chance.

Good point! Since most people are killed or injured in earthquakes due to heaving things falling on them, maybe everyone who lives in highly earthquake prone areas should live in grass huts. I don't think you could be too severely injured by a bunch of grass falling on you. The only threat remaining in that case would be fire.

The Bush administration didn't do the best job but at least they did something. On the other hand the Iranian central government sends it's condolences and orders 2 days of mourning in the province not the whole country, what a totally inept and disgraceful response to a disaster of this size. It seems as if the people in the provinces are expected to handle their own problems with minimal help from Tehran, what a caring and wonderful government they have.

Ron is harsh but right. Also it gets cold in Iran so grass huts are not an option. Crushing stones for concrete and reinforcing with rebar would be a good but expensive alternative. These people are not wealthy and have a relatively unresponsive government. The people need help not criticism because of the government they happen to live under.

Ron was not even addressing my post. His post was a diatribe about blaming someone for something and something about the CIA and HARPA, which I said nothing at all about in my post. Nor was I blaming anyone for anything, something he accused me of doing. I don't know why he addressed his post to me because it had nothing to do with my post. The Iranian govenment might have been slow in ramping up the releif efforts, but what you have to remember about Iran, other than it being an Islamic stat, is that it is a very Liberaterian stat. The people do not beleive in paying tax, and the government enforces hardly any. So the government is basically running the entire nation off oil sales, n addition to paying for the people's free public education and almost free healthcare. And a major portion of that income goes to handouts to those in poverty. What remains goes to building a little infrustructure and the military. So to compare their slow response with that to Katrina is ludicrus. The residents and busnisses of New Orleans were being taxed by the federal government just like the rest of us. People died out there that had had the federal government take a portian of their income their entire adult lives - but when the time came the federal government left them hanging.

I live in central PA, and guess what? Almost every town around here has some stone houses built in the late 1700's/early 1800's, and people still live in them. Iran is an ancient land, the homes are probably hundreds of years old.

Be realistic. Do you expect entire towns to be pulled down and rebuilt according to current safety standards? If so, then over half of all homes in Europe would also have to be torn down!

For earthquake area they need to build on special foundations, it allows the building to move a little and can avoid worse damage.

Both of you need to read the article carefully and think for a change. Homes destroyed and livestock doesn't mean that the livestock lived in the homes. Most adults would recognize that this.

                  #2.24 - Mon Aug 13, 2012 11:53 AM EDT

In the ME, you would be surprised as to how many homes in Iran, Afghanistan etc have farm animals that "live in the home". However, most are on the ground floor and the humans live above on the second floor. A by product of that is heat from the livestock in the winter, as heat rises, it also warms the humans on second floor. A bad by-product is the smell of livestock manure! However, after awhile, you can get used to any smell so that you do not notice it much.

That is why a lot of livestock died/were injured in the earthquake.

Remember though, compassion and tolerance for those victims go a long way towards humanity.

I always hear Iran this, Iran that, but you never see or hear of the people that live their, you just hear about the military and the worries that they are trying to develop nuclear weapons. I hope that people can put aside their hatred and their differences to help these people!

Why don't they help themselves? God helps those who help themselves, right? Instead they go about their ignorant existance and enjoy suckling on America's nipple.

Rent the movie "A Separation" for further insight - Great movie. Rent "Incendies" while you're at it. Those flicks make a great Sunday afternoon double feature.

Not to take sides with Chris, but he's right. These people would never ask for our help anyways. Remember, it will be our fault for the lack of medical supplies and items needed to help, since we've taken everything away from them.

Easy for you to say "HUH?" You can go over there and try to help the victims and they still want to slash your throats. We have seen too many of that already. This is what you'll get from these people after helping them: "Death to America". Why don't you go over to any of the Muslim countries and try to be a peace maker and see if you'll comeback with your head attached to your body.

Aid would not den the general animosity, but it just might reduce it. Iranian government will have harder time convincing people the the evil West is out to get them if they just accepted help from the West.

TO - MEEGAN JESSE HUSSAIN - this is my personal opinion - DUH, look at your name, you dumba$$ idiot - sure you liked it in a muslim country because you are one of them.

Why don't you go to live in one of those muslim countries and Help Clean the Shvt and Pvss out of the United States of America by getting all of the fng muslims out. Not one single, Real American wants them here. They are the most hated group of people in the USA because they are all anti-American. They only came here to breed like rabbits and try and take over - this according to a muslim at work.

Majority of people will never help them - no matter what. Traffic was held up because of a wreck involving several vehicles. All kinds of people were helping others in all vehicles except the vehicle the muslims were in. Their vehicle had all the muslim religious symbols on it and of course they had on their head gear and such - and every single person was actually walking right past the muslim kids and adults screaming for help, like they were not even there, to go help others in the other vehicles.

This was on a main Interstate Highway in the middle of the day. Finally they stopped screaming and people started blowing their horns, like in approval. I was not there but a co-worker was on the highway, directly across from all vehicles in the wreck and he actually video taped it all. Neither of us agrees with the blowing of horns for any reason at this accident site and I would hate to think people were blowing their horns because these people died. But, again, people have the freedom of expression and speech and honking horns is part of that. He said it was not just one or two horns but so many that it was unbelievable. I am sure some people heard horns blowing and started blowing their own. But still, you can see it and hear it in the video.

Now-a-days I would never get out to help anyone - either because of all the blood diseases people have and because you never know who will sue you. So I do not help anyone anymore, unless I personally know them. But if I did help others, it would never be any muslims as their life goal is to kill all non-muslims.

Evidently, everyone else sitting there stopped in backed up traffic and those who walked right passed them, knew that and felt the same way. BUT THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND WE HAVE OUR FREEDOMS -- Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Choice and that means anyone can help or choose not to help anyone at any time for any reason and can also choose who they want to help and who they want to not help.

I do know that I have never met a muslim who was nice, sweet or tolerant. They always look hateful and are rude, pushy people in stores. You are a POS the same as the majority of them are. muslims are only nice to other muslims. Period. They walk around like a bunch of zombies on crack, which most of them probably are. And do not tell me they do not do drugs. There are many muslims in jails and prisons for using drugs and selling drugs. Check it out. And those muslim females who act all religious parading around in their costumes and all - but they do anything they can to get an American man. Acts and such that no real religious female of any religion would do. Yes, there are whores in all religions and all non-religions, always has been and always will be and muslims are no different.

As a female muslim you go and mouth off in a muslim country like you do here and they will fng stone you to death. You are just a stupid as all other muslims are - females and males. Bunch of ignorant basturds.

Oh and how about muslim men raping muslim women all the time and also raping and sodomizing both female and male babies from 3 months old and up. And their muslim religion allows it because nothing is ever done to them. And of course not to mention all the dogs and other animals the muslim men have sex with. Bunch of sick people. And this all came straight from the mouth of a muslim man who lived there and had denounced the muslim religion once he came to the USA and started practicing a real religion who believes in God. He also said that no muslim is allowed to tell the truth about other muslims like this; as it all must be kept among the muslims only.

Also adult males of all ages marrying girls as young as six (6) years old and having sex with them. All in the name of their muslim religion. In the United States of America these men are called pedophiles, sexual deviants, child rapists, sick mofs, etc. and NOT men practicing their religion. And the girls sick parents selling the girls to them, also these parents are sexual deviants and guilty of child abuse, child neglect, selling children into the sex trade, etc. and would all do prison time in the USA like they should be doing in any country.

Regardless of why we developed the ability to form ourselves into armies, not that an ant would be impressed; we have them. That they do not perform the function of rescuing people from calamities like this one is a reflection of our shortcoming as an intelligent species. When you think about it, this is what armies are good for.

Here's the difference: Not all the outcry, destruction and loss of life in Iran over a 6.3 earthquake. Approximately the same time, a 6.3 earthquake, complete with aftershocks, hit in southwest China. Not one word about damage, casualties or anything has been reported from that highly populated region. Iran seems intent on claiming as much 'poor me' press as possible from this unfortunate situation, while China is content letting the locals handle the burials and rebuilding without a bit fanfare. Not a poke at either culture, but just a note to highlight the differences in their handling of similar situations.

China is more of a civilized nation that is better prepared for these earthquakes, one of the reasons you dont hear about so many injured or dead. The buildings over their are built to withstand these earthquakes. It hit in a rural area, I am sure the people of these destroyed villages are not as rich as china, and I don't care who they are, I just think that they are human just like the rest of us, and there is no room for hate during such a time.

big deal. 6.3 aint no thing. i was in a 6.5 in la back in 1970, i think. we went for breakfast after the quake. silmar got a little damage, but when you build your houses out of cow dung and hope alla will take care of you, its kind of a no brainer. sorry for any little kids that got hurt. try to be nicer in the future so alla does not get so pissed off. your problem, not mine.

In China, they live in mud shacks and tarp....they stay safe unless the earth opens up and swallows them. In Iran, they build these houses with stones and rocks that kill when they collapse. No ferro cement in these rural regions. Agree, they need to change their building codes but how much have we changed ours ? any major earthquake in the US will destroy most of the buildings and kill people as well. No one is truly protected from these natural disasters.

You all essentially said exactly what I said using different wording. I merely suggested that Iran is getting more press over this issue than China, and that is probably because China keeps their disasters to themselves. However, in the Chinese border area, they build their structures to withstand earthquakes and seldom more than one story high -- and yes, they do use reinforced concrete in China in almost all the buildings in that particular area. Iran is still using very outdated building materials and methods, yet they claim they are going to be a world power. They still have a long way to go.

China LIES about the damage and deaths that occur in the event of a natural disaster! Urban or rural - their government LIES about events and their aftermath because they're afraid they'll look bad.

Just because there's an article in the news about an earthquake doesn't mean they're crying "poor me". It's a major disaster, the story is simply being reported. How many references to the Red Crescent (their Red Cross) do you need to see in an article before you understand they ARE working to help themselves.

My God - some of you suffer from a shocking lack of critical thinking skills.

                    1. The administrators of the program.

                    2. The Iranian military machine.

                    3. The Iranian "clergy".

How nice. I'm sure the injured, bereft and frightened victims really appreciate the sympathies expressed by Tehran.

What exactly is Tehran doing to actually help these people or are they just sitting back waiting for the international donations to start pouring in???

My heart is with these poor suffering people. I don't care about politics, religion or any other topic that may get in the way of feeling connected. We have to be together as human beings.

TO ALUMETTE - WOW, talk about a traitor if you are American -You put muslim countries people against your own American's when their only goal in life is to kill all non-muslims and of course, the majority of American's are not muslim. THANK GOD FOR THAT.

And you wish death to Americans by your comments. Why don't you go over to Iran and live and help out these ignorant, stupid people because you are just as ignorant and stupid as they are and Karma will come back on you for wishing American's dead. You are a fng worthless POS the same as they are. What a dumba$$. God says you shall suffer 7 times what you wish on others and your family will suffer for 7 generations because of your actions against other American's, your people. I hope your neighbors and others who know you read these posts and see what kind of person you really are - A Fng Traitor.

TO CDB-1216168 - from your posting it seems you are Iranian. If so, then Fvck You and every man, woman, child and baby in your GOD FORSAKEN COUNTRY. Your own country's leaders and religious leaders do not give a damn about you or any one in Iran except their selves. They have millions of dollars that they choose to spend on making nuclear weapons instead of feeding, housing and clothing their own people. These leaders in Iran know these people are worthless and only take up space and breath air and that is why they do nothing to help these people, their own people.

Why should other countries care about the Iranian people when their own country's leaders and religious leaders do not. I am like most American's and we do not give a damn about these people or any people in Iran or any other muslims anywhere in the world.

muslims breed like rabbits and believe me, I have heard all about how Iranian women are nothing but whores especially when it comes to foreign men and doing every act and everything they can to get these men. This comes directly from a muslim Iranian man at work and he says the muslim women in the USA are whores trying to get American men to marry them. Majority of American men want nothing to do with them except use them for sex because they are so ignorant and stupid. Just like you.

All people of all countries mourn their loved ones and those related to them you dumba$$; but muslims only mourn muslims and no one else - and this is another reason why the majority of the people on Earth hate muslims.

Ya know...it saddens me that idiots such as "What Else is New X" exist. They know nothing but what is in their little bubble and assume they speak for the masses. First off, a Muslim's goal is not to kill all non-Muslims d!ck fvck, not sure where exactly you got this idea from, I am guessing you spew all this hatred because you were dumped by a Muslim woman and now all people of Islam have to suffer through their existence dealing with people such as yourself and their idiotic comments and ideals.

So we can prevent any confusion here, I am an American, a Christian and I have plenty of friends who are followers of Islam. They have never tried to kill me, behead me of even convert me. What's even worse is that Islamic beliefs are closer to Christianity than any other religion and yet supposed "Christians" that are getting mindfvcked by Zionist preachers have absolutely no clue and just believe everything they read from our lovely Zionist run "news media" outlets. One more thing I find quite funny about your posts X, your use of Karma in the same paragraph that you use the word GOD in, as Karma is a Hindu belief. You are the epitome of ignorance and I hate that we have to live on the same planet together.

I am going to go on the assumption that you are just trolling on here as your statements are just incoherent, disrespectful ramblings so either you are a troll, or mentally disabled.........side note, it is impossible for your final statement to be true as not everybody who is not Muslim, hates Muslims and followers of Islam make up quite a large portion of the people on this planet. oh, and where in the h311 does it mention America in the Bible? Just for clarification, here is your statement...."God says you shall suffer 7 times what you wish on others and your family will suffer for 7 generations because of your actions against other Americans, your people. I hope your neighbors and others who know you read these posts and see what kind of person you really are " ....So by this same theory, you will suffer 7 times what YOU wish on others and YOUR family will suffer for 7 generations, due to your actions against an ENTIRE group of people that live on EARTH....your people!!!!! HUMANS!!!! And on that note =)....you may call me whatever you wish as your opinion means absolutely nothing to me....My condolences to the families who lost loved ones in this terrible disaster and may GOD/ALLAH take them into his arms and comfort them during this awful tragedy.....

you ask where he got the idea that the goal of muslims is to kill all non-muslims, and you insult his intelligence for saying it. it comes from the koran. maybe you should read it so you know their intents. but he's not completely correct. they aim to kill all jews and then to subjugate all other people to islam. those who don't resist are called "dhimmi" which is effectively a second class citizen with fewer rights, higher and more taxes, and who are subject to the will of the muslims around him or her. this means they can abuse you and take advantage of you in any way they want because you're not a muslim. maybe before calling someone out as ignorant you should go get educated about the situation in question yourself. and you can't trust your muslim friends to tell you the truth about this because of taqiyya. you have to go read the koran and hadiths yourself and study it thoroughly if you want to know about this issue. you people need to stop blindly protecting people just because you think they're your friends or an oppressed minority. please, please, please, go learn the actual ideology before you call someone else ignorant about it when they've actually been educated. this indiscriminateness of thought needs to end now. ignorance and the inability to judge between right and wrong is killing this country. don't be a part of it anymore!

They should step forward and help the suffering Iranian people.

THEY ARE COMMANDED TO DO SO BY THEIR OWN MESSIAH:

                        John 13:35

                        King James Version (KJV)

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another

                        Matthew 5:44

                        King James Version (KJV)

                        44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

                        Luke 10:25-37

                        King James Version (KJV)

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Where is the USA and Israel?

The USA is in the northern hemisphere and Israel is in the middle east.

They so proclaim to be followers of Christ.

Israel is the Jewish Homeland. Jews do not follow CHRIST JESUS.

You are free to make any donation that you wish or join the Red Crescent to go in and work to assist the victims at your own risk. It's very unfortunate and doubtful that very much of any international donations will assist these victims.

Have you forgotten all of the good America has done in the past helping disaster victims of other countries???

My apologies for saying "the past". Americans and Israelis both open their hearts and their wallets on a daily basis to aid and assist many other countries on a daily basis for all sorts of various charitable efforts and these people should be commended.

THAT is where the USA and Israel are.

@ Tired of all the ignorance.

Dude, you're the king of ignorance. The US and Isreal might be minding their own business like they should be. Are you suggesting we send some sort of aid? No you idiot. The fanatic leaders of Iran would never let the victims or average citizen ever know the US did anything to help them much less let them have any sort of foreign aid from the pagan non belivers. That would be counterproductive to the hate mill they run under the guise of islam. Kinda like in Afghan. Training their military and just last week 3 s.f. operatives were killed by an Afgan soldier who then defected to al-Qaeda. So let al-Qaeda, hezbollah and hamas pony up the relief fund. Hit up Saudia Arabia. They're loaded and not pagan non believers that Christians and Jews are. Iran has pleanty of oil money. Let them pay for their own relief like we have to in the US and Isreal. Think the middle east gives a damn if something bad happens here? Guess again idiot. Thier holy book tells them to hate us. To "strike down the pagan non believers where you find them."

                        Sahin 9.5

I also agree with chefaz-1319563. The US has always been one of the first nations to offer support or help to ohers countries in times of natural disasters.

But not to those that openly hate us. Burn our flag, chant death to America and celebrate when US soldiers are killed. Help them? I don't think so.

No wonder you're tired of ignorance. You're the epitomy. And speaking of HYPOCRITES,

Iran's donation for help to Sri Lanka for the Tsunami?

Iran's donation for help to Japans nuclear accident?

Iran's donation for help to Haiti eartquakee victims?

                        That's what I thougt.

Consider this idiot, maybe the US and Isreal would be a little more willing to help if Iran wasn't promising to blast Isreal off the map as soon as they get nuclear rocket/warhead capability. Or promising to destroy US army bases if Isreal takes out their nuclear missle program. You threaten us like that and then cry for help when something bad happens? No. The blade cuts both ways dumbass. They want to hate us fine. Don't ask us for a damn thing.

And you sir, are still an ignorant jackass. Have a nice day idiot.

THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION - and I could care less who likes it or not -

LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID HERE -

ANY AMERICAN POLITICIAN WHO APPROVES OR AGREES WITH SENDING USA AID TO THESE ENEMIES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - WILL NOT BE RE-ELECTED OR ELECTED.

I agree with the majority of all of the American People - We are sick and tired of our money being sent to any other countries for any reason to help them out INSTEAD of being used to help out the millions of American Citizens who are dying daily due to no totally free health care and dental care system to all.

NO MORE MONEY FROM THE USA sent to any other countries and to Enemies of the USA like IRAN is.

OUR AMERICAN CITIZENS NEED TO COME BEFORE ALL OTHERS - PERIOD.

USE OUR MONEY TO SET UP FREE HEALTH CARE AND DENTAL CARE IN CLOSED RETAIL BUILDINGS IN EVERY COUNTY OF EVERY STATE OF AMERICA - SO OUR AMERICAN CITIZENS CAN GO THERE AND GET FREE HEALTHCARE AND FREE DENTAL CARE.

AND TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC - WAKE UP - AND QUIT BEING SO IGNORANT AND USED - QUIT DONATING TO ANY OF THE LARGE, WELL KNOWN CHARITIES - AS THEY ALL DONATE MONEY TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES - MORE THAN HELPING OUT OUR OWN PEOPLE. LESS THAN 10% STAYS IN THE USA.

TO - TIRED OF ALL THE IGNORANCE and anyone else who feels the same way - Everyone is entitled to THEIR own opinion and that is your opinion -

AGAIN THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION - and I could care less who likes it or not - I use to love all people no matter who they were or where they lived AND ONLY went on how they treated me as to if I liked them or not - until Satellite News Agencies came into being and showed the entire world how the majority of these people in these countries really feel about American's and all people of other Countries and these people all want us Dead because we do not believe in their religion.

I, along with millions of others do not want them to be allowed to even visit the United States of America, let alone live here. And I would never, ever help any one of them in any way. That is my choice as an American - Freedom of Choice - and I choose not to help anyone I do not want to. That is the only thing good about their being allowed to wear their religious head gear and other forms of dress for both females and males everywhere - we all know who they are. And believe me, I am not alone - because thousands die yearly, if not more, not only in the USA but in all other countries of the World because no one will offer them aid in vehicle wrecks, fires, chokings, drowning, etc. The same as many others will not help those they think are gay, lesbian, transgender, disabled, black, Hispanic, Asian, Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, illegals, fat people or just ugly looking, etc. I would help and have helped several people who are of these genders, races, nationalities, religions, all shapes and sizes, etc. and I would help any other persons from any other countries as long as they are not enemies of the USA and not a member of any religion who wants anyone who is not a member of their religion murdered or who calls for the overthrow of the USA Government, etc.

Yes - I too am tired of all the ignorant, stupid, brainwashed people in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan that do nothing but breed like rabbits and sell their kids to Taliban and other religious Wacko, Stupid Priests or whatever they call their religious leaders to be suicide killers and to rape and sodomize for their own pleasure.

A large majority of these same people from these countries sell their female babies and male babies from age 3 months and up to their own race of men to rape and sodomize till the babies and kids die.

They are the HYPOCRITES... These people are so stupid, nothing but a shell of a human being and a puppet that they let their government and wacko religious leaders use them to satisfy their needs and to fight to kill others in the name of their religion. These people are so stupid they cannot even see with their own eyes - How their leaders are millionaires and live in mansions while they live in dirt shacks. Yes, even the ones who say they are secretly fighting for freedom in these countries. If they were fighting for freedom, they would overthrow these religious leader governments and be free.

These countries leaders keep all the money for any help and aid to themselves and in any disaster they get down on their knees and cry and kiss the butts of and begging America and Israel and all other foreign countries to help their people. JUST LIKE THEY ARE DOING NOW. OH BOO HOO.

Like Osama bin Laden was tracked down and finally killed. WAY TO GO USA. Osama bin Laden begging and crying like a baby not to be killed - PRICELESS. Except I believe everyone there, his entire family should have been killed. Also, the countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan being Nuked and wiped off the face of the Earth for hiding him all of those years and causing the death of thousands of American Military and the deaths of American Allies Military. At least the USA should have bombed both of these entire countries with NP2 napalm or using thermite or magnesium bombs and spraying Agent Orange over both of these entire countries and the same with Iran and Iraq. Hey, it is still not too late.

I too, can quote the Real Bible and state what GOD says to do to our Enemies -- which is enemies of the USA -- basically - wipe them off the face of the Earth.

From the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible (not the Real Bible - since the KJV is what it says, a Version of the Real Bible) - since that is the one this person quoted -

Deuteronomy 6:19 - To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken.

2 Samuel 22:38 - I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.

2 Samuel 22:41 - Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.

Psalms 143:12 - And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.

Luke 19:27 - But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Psalms 97:3 - A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

Psalms 139:22 - I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

Psalms 92:9 - For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish

Psalms 106:11 - And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

IN THIS CASE IT WAS TWO EARTHQUAKES ...

The majority of these people are worthless to their own leaders and religious leaders of their own country and you and others think everyone else in the world should help them out.

The country leaders and religious leaders of Iran have billions of dollars but refuse to help their own people so why should people of other countries use their own money to help these people when their own country considers them worthless and not worth saving. Some good religion the muslim religion is when the muslim's refuse to use their billions to help their own muslim people. Let the other muslim's of the world use their own money to help these people out. Other religions of the world help out their own people, why don't the muslim's. In fact, most other religions of the world help out people of any religion - or of no religion - but not the muslim's.

You help them out if you want - as it is everyone's right to help OR NOT TO HELP and let them die. God will save them if he wants them to live - otherwise, they will die the same as everyone, anywhere on the Earth. Everyone will die sometime and when it is their time according to God and not before. You, me and everyone.

GOD BLESS AMERICA and THANKS BE TO GOD.

GO USA MILITARY - KILL 'EM ALL, LET GOD SORT THEM OUT.

Did you really say "Israel's Messiah"? Maybe you should re-think that one. There is nothing more dangerous than an idiot who believes he is a genius.

Where is the USA and Israel?

They so proclaim to be followers of Christ.

                        They are HIPPOCRITES!

They should step forward and help the suffering Iranian people.

THEY ARE COMMANDED TO DO SO BY THEIR OWN MESSIAH:

Wow, tiredoftheignorance, given your evident lack of relevant knowledge [i.e. ignorance] you've chosen a very ironic name.

Israel, as an avowedly Jewish state, has as much to do with Christ, as you do with MENSA.

Yes, Israel is a Jewish state and according to the Jewish faith, "THEIR OWN MESSIAH" has yet to make an appearance.

Nice quotes from the Bible though.

You state that opinion as if it were a fact. Well, I'll vote for them, early and often.

a lot of things HAVE changed...for the worse: the government can detain you without cause or explanation, the government can spy on you or search your property or person without a warrant, the government can take everything you have without explanation if you get sick, the government can force you to do with your money whatever they want you to do, you can't interview people on public streets or public property if it goes against the prerogative of the current administration any more...this means no more freedom of press, this is just the start of the great change we have...have any of you guys actually read the laws enacted by congress and the current presidential administration? the change abounds...in the form of taking away all your freedom and denying you all your rights that our founding fathers insisted were "self evident" instead of privileges given by government.

Middle man...your ignorance is showing. Read a little about Islam. Its a sham, a cobbled together fiction foisted on a bunch of ignorant camel jockies by a pedophile who was jealoust of what others had. Kind of an early L Ron Hubbard. The fact that is is called a religion is a joke. They co-opted just about every part of the silly belief system from other established religions...Judaism, Christianity, and others including paganism, hence the moon and star symbol. Mo' was astute enough to know that conversion was easier if you adopted some of the trappings of existing religions, it also increased your street cred' with those you were trying to fool...I mean convert. Playing to the crowd didn't hurt either...heaven consisting of endless flowing rivers of water, wine and honey...sound familiar? He stole part of Mose's schtick. The 72 virgins was original Mo' I think...what better things to tell a bunch of camel jockies who pleasured themselves with their camels or little boys? Read the Quran, the Surah and the laughable collection of theological minutia decisions that define Islam. I guess the Islamic brain trust over the centuries had nothing better to do than to define "toilet etiquette" and stipulate which hand to wipe with, which to eat with and what foot to step into the out house with and so on. I guess it tells you something about the average intelligence of the Islamic faithful. Do yourself a favor and read up on what dhimmitude is, and what it meant to people like the Lebanese christians, the Coptic christians in Egypt, and all the other non-muslims who have had to live under it, suffer under it, see their wives and daughter raped, forced into marriages and convert and live in virtual slavery. THAT is the peaceful co-existence of Islam. Convert, die or live as a dhimmi and pay a tax and exist by the leave of the Muslims. Kinda like living as a Jew under the Nazis, whom the Muslims admired very much, and fought for when they had the chance.

Sam627556, your boy Obama is the one that ramped up military activities in Af@!$%#istan. Why shouldn't we "throw a tantrum" if our country sends billions of dollars in taxpayer money to countries that hate us. Oh wait, we already do that, but they are Muslim so I guess Barack Hussein Obama is okay with that.

Here is just one post referencing to President Obama, maybe you should go back and re-read the posts here (if you can), and I believe that the 99% of Americans fits the category of Middleclass, we sure don't fit in the 1% that can eat such an expensive lunch. Your post makes no sense whatsoever.
