Czech authorities say a 29-year-old man suspected of plotting a terrorist bombing was an admirer of Anders Behring Breivik, the man accused of killing 77 people in Norway last year.
The man, who hasn't been identified, was arrested Aug. 10, but the case wasn't made public until Saturday. Police said he has multiple previous convictions for making illegal explosives, at least one of which was used to blow up a small structure.
The man drew the attention of police by using the nickname "Breivik" in posts on Internet sites, authorities said Saturday, the Prague newspaper Czechia Today reported. When they searched his home in Ostrava, they disarmed a booby trap before discovering firearms, ammunition, gas masks and improvised explosive devices, as well as police uniforms, Ostrava Police Chief Radovan Vojta said.
Police evacuated about 80 people from a block of residences around the building on Aug. 10 without giving any details, the newspaper Ostrava Idnes reported at the time. Neighbors told reporters that they believed the 29-year-old man in the apartment was dangerous.
Investigators said Saturday that now they believed the man was planning to detonate a high-power bomb by remote control. Vojta told Radio Praha that the man was carrying a remote-control detonator when he was arrested and that tests on the presumed bomb showed that it was "functional."
Tomas Tuhy, head of the regional office of national police, said at a news conference Saturday that investigators believed the man "admires the known murderer Anders Breivik of Norway."
Breivik is on trial in Norway after having admitted carrying out two attacks in July 2011 that killed 77 people in Oslo and Utoya. He has drawn sympathy from far-right and neo-Nazi groups across Europe, including in the Czech Republic, where he is believed to have visited to buy weapons.

The sickos will try to get things changed this way. The rest of us put pressure on our elected officials to try to get things changed. It is a ling and very frustrating process but, it will work if you keep at it. Laws can be changed at times.....build the pressure and it will work!!
In order for laws to change, one has to get compromise and agreement. Two words that American politicians won't use. They are too busy protecting their careers and chasing the money.

Con-Science. Might be a good idea. It might be true that only a minority of rightwing nuts are causing the trouble but how come the majority causing these problems are rightwing nuts? I thought the only terrorists we had to be concerned about were Muslim nuts but now we seem to have homegrown rightwing nuts. The big question is why? The Czech government is pretty conservative but evidently not conservative enough. It seems we have gone from the likes of Bill Buckely who was intelligent and eloquent to a bunch of ignorant boobs when it comes to conservatives. The liberal press is still referring to Breivek as if there is some doubt to his innocence. Where is the moral indignation of the 77 children's families he murdered. Are they so civilized over there that they have no human feelings? Where is Jessie and Al and the riotous crowd of protesters seeking the blood of the villain?
This guy was a right wing nutcase that we here in America have not seen yet. So far all our nutcases have been from the left as with the kid in Colorado.
That being said, Crazy does not know politics and religion, it is just crazy. The fact that the laws where he is from are so liberal, it shows that the there is no reason to not exercise their personal best in CRAZY to kill as many people as possible because there is no deterrent to make them think twice.
The same type of thing here is true where we allow the violent offenders to skate the laws as they kill people with deadly weapons and then allow them to live long lives in Prison with three meals and a cot, Cable TV, and all the other perks. Charles Manson should have been euthanized decades ago but we still see him as he goes before a useless parole board hearing. He is allowed to speak his mind and get publicity and the weaker minds as he once controlled are allowed to hear his rant of "Helter Skelter", the same type of message the man Bleivek has made.
