Griselda Blanco in 2004.
The convicted Colombian drug smuggler known as the “Godmother of Cocaine,” Griselda Blanco, 69, was gunned down by a motorcycle-riding assassin in Medellin, Colombian national police confirmed late Monday, according to the Miami Herald.
Blanco spent nearly 20 years in prison in the United States for drug trafficking and three murders before being deported to Colombia in 2004, the Herald reported.
Two armed riders pulled up to Blanco as she was leaving a butcher shop in her hometown, and one shot her twice in the head, the Herald reported, citing a report in El Colombiano newspaper.
Family members said Blanco had cut her ties to organized crime after returning to her country, the BBC reported. Police said they were investigating the motive.
Blanco was one of the first to engage in large-scale smuggling of cocaine into the United States from Colombia and set up many of the routes used by the Medellin cartel after she was sentenced in the United States in 1985, the BBC reported.
Investigators told the Herald that they estimate conservatively that Blanco was behind about 40 slayings. She was convicted in connection with three murders: Arranging the killing of two South Miami drug dealers who had not paid for a delivery, and ordering the assassination of a former enforcer for her organization, an operation that resulted in the death of the target’s 2-year-old son, the Herald reported.

Three of Blanco’s husbands were killed in violence related to drugs, the Herald reported, and one of her sons was named Michael Corleone, a reference to “The Godfather” movies.
Blanco is credited with originating motorcycle assassinations, the Herald reported.
“This is classic live-by-the-sword, die-by-the-sword,” filmmaker Billy Corben, who with Alfred Spellman made two “Cocaine Cowboys” documentaries, told the Herald. “Or in this case, live-by-the-motorcycle-assassin, die-by-the-motorcycle assassin.”

For those of you who remember those days in the state of Florida and in particular the city and port of Miami you may recall the level of violence and its intensity. You may also recall the economic boom that existed and was created for most people of many walks of life. A crazy free time an almost wild west that those in the gop should reminisce fondly of. Limited government and few enforced laws if any at all is the backbone of what the gop CLAIMED to represent. Hmm. Indeed.
This end however was inevitable and a long time in the making and due to her protection by incarceration was meerely postponed. A shame this women is immulated in movies and song but hey!

Sad thing is, had we kept her here, our prison system would have kept her sheltered, fed, and happy. She had so many people killed in her drive towards power, she deserved a firing squad for what she did, but for whatever reason, mass killers somehow escape justice, even back then.

I was watching this show on the bio channel about Griselda Blanco and she actually first started dealing drugs in New York and was caught and supposed to go on trial but she fled to Miami where she did most of her deals and drugs. It wasnt until she left Miami and went to Cali to live with her youngest son that the police could get any evidence or testimonys on her. Technically, they couldnt find a way to charge her with murder according to the program and instead got her on a drug trafficking charge which back then was only a 20 year sentence but she plead guilty and wound up reducing her sentence to 15 years. To say she didnt suffer enough is an understatement. She was responisble for more murders then any drug lord has ever done, whether by her hand or someone she hired. For all intensive purposes, she deserved to die a long and painful death and two gunshot wounds to the head is getting off easy, in my opinion. I hope she burns in hell and is forced to re-live all the pain she caused and feel every single persons pain that she killled or had killed.

There is a girl that comes by the store I work at and, I do not joke, she looks like a cave man(heavy brow ridges, "large boned", etc; kinda moves around like one too). And when we end the Mexican Cartels it will get worse again. The California Prison system has also had an impact for the worse on the drug trade. And in other states as well.
Read the book the Black Hand by Cris Blatchford. Any drug MOB will become more violent in a grasp for power. They evolve and work around and even corrupt to get profits. This was one wacked out bitch. I was born and raised in Miami during the 70's and 80's and although we laugh about "surviving Miami" during this time, it really was a crazy time down here. The fact is, this bitch made it waaay past her time. I mean, think about it. All three of her sons got their wings clipped, three husbands and now her.

This woman was nothing short of a monster. She actually was the innovator of the motorcycle drive-by which her own son was usually the driver and shooter. I recall how she was actually arrested in Newport Beach off of MacArthur Blvd. in some large apartment complex where her, her youngest son and her lover were hiding out. I think this took place in 1985 then she went off to trial and then to prison. This is a clear case of the bad karma coming back around to kick her in the ass. I recall reading a about her exploits as a drug dealer and importer of coke during the 70’s and 80’s up until the time that she was arrested. Well as the say, no love lost there because it couldn’t have happened to a nastier person.
