A photograph supplied by the Israeli Defense Ministry shows Admiral James Winnefeld, the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (left), and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak in Tel Aviv on Thursday.
JERUSALEM - A top U.S. officer visited Israel's defense minister on Thursday and discussed Iran, in a display of solidarity after the two allies differed publicly over what they fear is Tehran's drive toward nuclear weapons capability.
The vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral James Winnefeld smiled broadly, exchanging pleasantries with Ehud Barak in his office in Tel Aviv in a brief video released by the Israeli Defense Ministry.
Barak later said that they had "discussed regional issues and Iran, of course."
The visit comes after General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, dismayed Israeli officials by saying that Washington did not want to be "complicit" in an Israeli attack on Iran.
Dempsey's comments were seen as a rebuke to Israel stepping up threats of making a unilateral strike against Iran's nuclear facilities before the U.S. presidential election on November 6.
John Batchelor, The John Batchelor Show host, weighs in on reports that Israel could possibly attack Iran before the November elections.
Washington has urged Israel to hold off in order to give economic sanctions and diplomacy more time to curb Iran's uranium enrichment, which Tehran says is for peaceful purposes.
Israeli protesters warn against war as government appears to prep Iran strikes
"The challenge is shared by us both but our clocks are ticking at a different pace, we have our differences too, Israel retains its right to make sovereign decisions and the United States respects that," Barak said at a ceremony in Tel Aviv.
New Iranian missiles have been put on display in Tehran - an exhibition that appears to be a warning to Israel. President Ahmadinejad says the short range missiles are meant for defense, not attack. But in Israel people are watching warily. NBC's John Ray reports.
The U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv had no comment on Winnefeld's visit, which Israeli Army Radio said began several days ago and included an inspection of Israel's Iron Dome rocket interception system, jointly funded by the United States.

In its press release, the Defense Ministry also included photographs of Winnefeld and Barak each appearing to measure, with their thumbs and index fingers, the size of Israel on a map of the Middle East on a wall in Barak's office.
On Tuesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the West of launching an "all-out ... war" by imposing oil and banking sanctions on his country.
Sanctions have taken a toll on the Iranian economy. The government is reluctant to admit it. Inflation is high. The number of young unemployed is a growing concern. NBC's Ali Arouzi reports.
Ahmadinejad said the banking embargo has affected Iran's ability to supply basic needs such as meat.
Ahmadinejad also repeated his previous statements that Iran is a friend to the American people and other nations — except Israel.
"We have no argument with Americans. We like them like other nations," said Ahmadinejad. He said "ruling groups" in the U.S. have worked against relations with Iran, an apparent reference to the pro-Israel lobby.

The remarks preceded Ahmadinejad's trip to New York to attend the U.N. General Assembly later this month.
The U.S. and Iran have had no diplomatic relations since hardliners stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and held hostages there for more than a year, after Iran's Islamic Revolution that ousted a pro-Western monarchy.
Netanyahu 'at wit's end'
Meanwhile, a Republican congressman said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blew up at the U.S. ambassador last month because he was "at wit's end" over what he sees as the Obama administration's lack of clarity on Iran's nuclear program.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers made his first public comments about the late August meeting in Israel in an interview with Michigan's WJR radio on Tuesday.
His disclosure came only hours before President Barack Obama appeared at the Democratic National Convention to accept the party's nomination as its candidate in the November election, in which the level of the Obama administration's support for Israel has become a contentious topic.
Dem official: Arab-Americans 'got punched' over Jerusalem switch
"Right now the Israelis don't believe that this administration is serious when they say all options are on the table, and more importantly neither do the Iranians. That's why the program is progressing," Rogers said.
The State Department had no immediate comment. A spokesman for Israel's embassy in Washington declined to comment.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta says "all options," including military force, are on the table to stop Iran from building nuclear weapons. Watch his entire speech in Israel.
In an interview with an Israeli television station on Sunday, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Daniel Shapiro dismissed an Israeli newspaper account of the heated closed-door exchange as "a very silly story" that did not reflect what actually happened in the meeting where the conversations were "friendly and professional." Netanyahu has not commented on the exchange, which was first reported by the daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

Speaking in Jerusalem in July, Mitt Romney says preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons "must be our highest national security priority." Watch his entire speech.
Rogers said the Israeli and U.S. timelines differed on how quickly Iran could put a nuclear weapon on a missile, if it decided to move in that direction.

Netanyahu believes "if they decide to do the dash it could be four weeks to eight weeks," while U.S. intelligence analysts believe it would "take a little longer than that," Rogers said. "But the problem is nobody really knows for sure."

Well there is certainly a way to find out just what Iran's nuclear ambitions really are although nobody in their right mind would want to do that.
It's a foregone conclusion that it's just a matter of time before Israel does strike Iran in it's own interests of self preservation. The Iranian Govt has made it clear it is their intention to "wipe Israel off the map". With that kind of threat issued from the highest level you have to take it seriously.
The real question is how much of an appetite do the American people have for getting drawn into another foreign war after Iraq and Afghanistan.
These wars have been going on since WWII, almost 60 years with little breathing space between and the American people are sick of it. WE haven't been attacked by any nation since 1941, but we have murdered millions , all over the world since. Let Isreal fight their own stinking war. It is not our problem and never has been. The Iran government has NOT said their intention is to wipe Isreal off the map. Reasearch what they really said.
You're right with the point of Israel striking Iran; it's if, not when. And if Israel is making the bet that the US and its citizens will be more than happy to bleed for Israel once such a strike escalates beyond Iran-Israel, Israel will find out the hard way that they are dead wrong. They're grossly overestimating the number of friends they have in this country. And they are underestimating the role of China.
The only way you are going to take out Iran's nukes is to go in on the ground and get them. Air strikes will not work; neither will firing a nuke. The facilities are so far inside mountains and underground that this is a waste of time. Look at the logistics of going in on the ground. If Iran chokes off Hormuz, you have a very small number of options to land troops; never mind that Iran has only a small amount of coastline to begin with. The country is mountainous. The entire population will automatically turn against you (70 million+). The people of the US simply will not support the idea of US troops going into this type of situation if it is the direct result of someone else's making.
Then there's China. China covets Iranian oil. Any action, whether it be by the US or Israel, which results in Iranian oil fields being down wind of radiation from a wrecked Iranian nuclear facility, making them inaccessible, will guarantee war with China. Whether or not Israel sets this chain of events in motion depends on who wins the election. If you end up with Mittens the Little Kitten and Rosie Ruiz-Ryan in the White House, Israel may take that as a green light to do whatever they feel like doing, which may include using a nuke to try and take out a facility. This is when Israel will find out how few friends they really have in the US. The only friends they'll have are Mittens, Rosie, and the rest of that cabal who have this uncontrollable need to show Bibi how big their dicks are. And if this cabal makes the stupid assumption that the American people will eagerly follow Mittens and Rosie into a war with China that puts Israeli interests above American interests, they and Israel will be sadly mistaken.
When it comes to Iran's oil, the embargo has already reduced export by 40%. It is currently a limited embargo to demonstrate to Iran how much economic sanctions can hurt them, but, it can very quickly become a 100% embargo on Iranian oil.
The Saudi's recently announced that, for September, they will drop the price to the Asian market and meet Asian demands. This has the Iranians really upset, because China now will get it's oil from Saudi Arabia at a lower price than the Iranians offer.
This move by the Saudi's is intentional, they dislike the Iranians, and are a US ally. One could interpret this series of moves as a warning to Iran that a 100% embargo is in the works, and their status with China and India can be supplanted by the Saudis and other regional allies.
One could also see this series of events as a diplomatic move to use the embargo to seperate the Iranians from their Chinese friends, and further isolate Iran. How much of a vested interest China will have in Iran if their oil needs are met at a lower price remains to be seen. Perhaps China will not be such staunch defenders of Irans nuclear program.
That leaves the Russians. Critics accuse Obama of kissing Putin's butt based on the "after election I will have more flexibility" comment. However, it is possible that negotiations are going on to seperate the Russians from backing Iran's nuclear program. Generally, when negotiating, one side must give up something in exchange for the other side giving up something. This is especially true with the Russians, who have no history of negotiating with only themselves (unilaterally) giving something.
So, no, the diplomacy and sanction options have not yet been played out. It is too premature to discount them and launch a military attack on Iran. This message is a warning to Israel not to jump the gun.
I look to the next move, a 100% embargo on Iranian crude, with our Opec allies making up the difference to China and India at a lower price. The 40% embargo was just a statemnt to Iran of what the future holds.
This is a just like a game of chess. We are positioning our pieces via embargo and isolation of Iran from China and Russia. The idea is that, once the Iranians see they are in checkmate, if they chose to continue to play we can roll out the military option and take them apart.
The only way they cannot lose this game is if they choose not to play.
A lesson they need to learn, just like using nuclear weapons, choose to play that game and you lose.
You got a Time Machine, No, well too f**king late.
What is Israel going to do to destroy the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Repubilic of Iran's Underground Nuclear Research Facilities. Most of the people in the US do not know what the f**k is going on due to the censored US News Media in accordance with President Obama's January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts (Plural, US Laws).
Do you honestly believe that the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Repubilic of Iran is stup!d with all those Russian Federation and Chinese Technical Advisers. Why do you think they built their Underground Facilities just below 250 feet under their Mountains, can you say, US NORAD or the USSR Ural Mountain Complex (withstand and survive direct Nuclear strikes).
So what is Israel going to attack that with without killing all the Chinese and Russian Federation Military Units that are currently operating, performing maintenance, training Iranian on, the 21st Century Long Range Land Based Anti Ship Missiles, integrated Air and ABM Defense Systems (same one that detected the US Stealth RQ-170), etc. bought with the Iranian Oil Wealth.
The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran spending all their Oil Wealth on 21st Century Weapons Systems is why they keep showing all of their new Weapons on Fars and Arabic Al Jazeera, so that the people of Iran don't revolt, as well as the blame it on the US, UN Sanctions and Embargoes.
Note: The "New" Missile in the (article) video is the Old one, not the current IRBM, that made President Obama Flip Flop being opposed to President Bush's Plan to deploy US ABM (THAADS) to Eastern Europe, so in December 2011 President Obama as US Military Commander In Chief Ordered the Deployments of US ABMs to Romainia; as the current Iranian IRBM has the Range to strike most of Eastern Europe.
Those of us that used to be part of the US Military Strategic Missiles, Nuclear Weapons, etc.. Know exactly what the Iranians are doing. Their IRBM/ICBM is similar to a US Pershing II without a Range Limiter and a Third Stage (solid fuel missile motors), the third stage makes this a near orbital IRBM/orbital ICBM missile using Earth Orbit to traverse distances.
The Technological Trade Agreement between the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran and North Korean means that the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran gets North Korean Nuclear Weapons Technology and the North Koreans get Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran Missile Technology.
The Russian Federation advanced the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran Nuclear Program by Decades by processing the Iranian Uranium Ore (Rock, extracting the Uranium, the hardest most time consuming part).
It has been long known that the Strategic Goal of the Chinese and Russian Federation is to get the US and US Allies out of their Backyards (Resources). The Chinese and Russian Federation are using the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran as their "Proxy Fighter" and the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran is using the Worldwide Fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists as their "Proxy Fighters" as funded by the Trillions USDs per year by the required by Islamic Laws Mandatory Islamic Tithes of 1.5 Billion Islamic Believers Worldwide.
Ever since President Obama's March 2009 Iran Policy the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran has been overtly and covertly obtaining their Strategic Goals: Overthrowing the US ("Great Satan") Allies Worldwide. Increasing their Strategic Sphere of Influence. Obtaining Resources for their Allies the Chinese and Russian Federation. Obtaining Strategic Locations Worldwide. Creation of more Fundamentalist Islamic (Shia, Sharia) Nations as Shia Iranian Allies.
Like I said, too f**king late.
Israel want the U.S. to respect that they are a sovereign nation, should they not respect that the U.S. is as well?
The U.S. will not let anyone dominate Israel. Isn't that enough? Why trash talk us?
Must we do it for you? Can you not wipe your own butt? Come on?
America America we have problems. Is there a world wide 911 number you call and we come to the rescue? Maybe just Maybe America could use your help!!!
rodentwarrior
You seem to have a good grasp of the big picture .
The thing that bothers me most is this . Israel seems to have an itchy trigger finger and wants to get it on NOW . Good by world if they do . This mess reminds me of the Cuban missile crisis. Fortunately at the last minute cooler heads prevailed and the situation defused. In this case either side is to thick headed to see the overall outcome. Neither side will back down nor stop the beating of the war drums. I feel you are correct in your thoughts about China getting involved . But let us not forget about Russia . As they too will get into it also.
Governments in the Mid-east area commonly use inflamitory language and bluster to enhance their position domestically.
In Iran, they know that if they obtained and tried to use a nuclear device, all major population centers in Iran would be vaporized by Israeli retaliation. They may be full of crap but they are not stupid.
Okee
Very well stated
Robertlevy, What do you call the 9/11 attack? What about all the other attacks on the US embassies and other US ships, military posts etc? How many planned attacks on US soil have been stopped? There is no question that there is a threat. The question is how do you resolve the issue?
Robert
Many news sources repeated the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting statement by Ahmadinejad that "Israel must be wiped off the map",[7][8] an English idiom which means to "cause a place to stop existing",[9] or to "obliterate totally",[10] or "destroy completely".[11]
The Iranian presidential website stated that "the Zionist Regime of Israel faces a deadend and will under God's grace be wiped off the map," and "the Zionist Regime that is a usurper and illegitimate regime and a cancerous tumor should be wiped off the map."[
Americans have no appetite for another war - especially to defend the terrorist state of Israel - Israel is no friend of the US - they just beg us for money - money we need to spend here at home not on some religious fanatic country.
Robert Levy
You are the one that needs to do research. The threats against Israel from Iran have been so frequent and so bellicose that Ban Ki Moon had to tell the Iranians to tone it down. But here are a few examples for you, since you make statements without checking the facts.
Please note that some of these statements were made this summer. Now stop making excuses for Iran.
Will Mr Obama take steps to secure US from the threat posed by a nuclear armed Iran? Doesn't seem like he is prepared to do so given his recent actions. Hopefully he remembers his own words.
And another, of many statements, from Mr. Obama on the threat of nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists
And, specifically, on Iran with nukes
Lets just hope that the seeming rift between Mr. Obama and Israel is a bit of misdirection designed to keep Iran in the dark about what is about to take place, rather than Mr. Obama foolishly letting Iran build nukes and failing to back Israel if it comes to a preemptive strike.
Civilization started in Iran/Iraq region, and it appears that it may eventually end there.....
I am probably going to precipitate a s#$t storm of criticism over this but...
We all know that Iran's nuclear ambitions are military in nature. Everyone also knows Israel has its own nuclear weapons. I think that Iran may be building their nuclear weapons for the same reason that the Soviets and the US did in the 50s. As a deterrent. If you take away the thought that Iran is pure evil bent on "wiping Israel off the map" then this makes some sense.
I'm not saying allow Iran to continue, I'm just saying you need to see it realisticly from both angles. Krushchev said, "We will bury you" and it had been argued that what he meant was that the Soviet Union would outlive the United States. (Of course if that is what he meant, he was wrong.) I think for Iran to use newly developed nukes to attack Israel would be a conflict with it's nature as an Islamic republic, particularly the Islamic part. Seeing as how they would be effectively destroying the second most holy site in Islam. Or am I stark raving mad?
Mr. Auschwitz - You are obviously suffering from a mental illness. Please report to an insane asylum, for the sake of public safety.
Mr. Auschwitz - This isn't the 1940s anymore, wars don't have the same effect on the economy they used to. If they did, the economy would be doing a lot better now than it is.
Hal, technically Krushchev was right, the Soviet Union collapsed and we became the Soviet Union, comrade. Patriot Act, no due process, Guantanamo, warantless wiretaps, video surveillance, TSA, "Homeland Security", etc. The Soviet citizens were less monitored by their government than we are now.
Also, I think Mr. Auschwitz was being sarcastic - I'm assuming.
I can pretty much guarantee that if the republicans take the white house, the war will begin. Netenyahoo is as dumb as bin ladden. Violence is not an answer. Neither learned this lesson. Nor has the right wing of any nation. Ghandi defeated the great English empire without a single weapon. The greatest power on earth is unity of the people. A united population cannot be defeated. Imagine one billion Arabs sending a simple piece of mail to the israeli capital on the same day. You would shut down their parliament, and nobody would die. If only people would learn the power of peace.
Hal
What you are saying is that we should take a very big risk that Iran really doesn't mean what it says, which has been consistent with its actions over the years. Given the very real potential for enormous loss of life, is that a risk we should take, or is it incumbent upon Iran to make its true intentions are known with crystal clear clarity, based upon actions not deceit, so we don't have to second guess?
Not as criticism; but, having to have dealth with the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran since the US Military Training Teams to US Ally Iraq during the Iran Iraq Wars.
You cannot compare the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran Nuclear Weapons Goals with the previous USSR.
It is Fatal to believe in idealistic academic things during the Real World Life or Death School of Hard Knocks, to do so (idealistic academics) is to be nominated for the Darwin Award.
The Fundamentalist Islamic Ayatollahs of Iran control EVERYTHING. Being Fundamentalist Islamic, there is NO other interpretations of Shia (Sharia) Laws, Hadith (Ancient Customs) Laws, and especially the Holy Koran (Quran). The Moderate Liberal Islamic Believers (aka Sunnis) tried other Interpretations only to be declared Islamic Heretics (Death Penalty) and the start of the Centuries old War between the Shia and Sunnis (most other Islamic Believers fit into either of the main groups).
To even believe "Deterence" or "Nuclear Parity" pertaining to the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran and US Ally Israel is exactly that idealistic academics (Not Real World). As even currently the Fundamentalist Islamic Ayatollahs of Iran still spout the 109 Suras of the 114 Suras of the Holy Koran as enforced by current Islamic Laws as the Calls to All Islamic Believers to War Against the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers; non participation is punished by the Death Penalty, no appeals, no legal recourse , etc. that is just how it is with their Secret Police enforcing the Shia (Sharia) Laws, Hadith Laws, the Holy Koran as Law; and Worldwide their Special Forces, Quds, doing the same enforcing.
Based on Factual Events (still this way, 2012):
1991 Movie: Not Without My Daughter
This is why we had so much trouble during these, due to the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran's direct involvement (and still do at Iraq, Afghanistan, Redacted, Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Redacted, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, South and Central Americas, Palestine, Redacted, etc.. per Unclassified US Department of State):

it is utterly astonishing that we have these ridiculous jew-hating, Iran apologists that keep bringing up ONE "probable mistranslation" (according to a SINGLE canadian "professor" if you really research it) that was supplied by the Iranian english news agency (it was NOT "mistranslated" by european or US news agencies, they took what the IRANIAN news agency gave them and ran with that).
yet the Iranian leadership (the ayatollahs, which are the ONLY ones with the real power in Iran) HAS REPEATEDLY stated that Israel needs to be destroyed
Oh, yes Wars do. 2012, President Obama and his appointed lackey Secretary of Defense Leon Penetta, "A (US) Defense Budget Cut of 10% will put a Million (US) Civilians on unemployment".
That is because currently the US Military Defense Industrial Complex that directly and indirectly employs almost a hundred million overpaid too expensive US Civilians* is only providing for the 1% of US Citizens of the US Military.
*"Fair and Living Wages" so $275 Labor Costs to produce a $25 Hammer so the US Taxpayers pay $300 for a hammer, just like that expensive USAF Toilet Seat.
AND at the same time as realizing the numbers of US Civilians that would become unemployed with a 10% US Defense Budget Cut, President Obama as Commander In Chief has Ordered the current Reduction In Forces of the US Military of 90,000* US Military to be thrown on unemployment and 108,000* US Civilians (DOD related) to also be thrown on unemployment. In anticipation of this the US Military Defense Industrial Complex is manufacturing less and "downsizing" (layoffs).
*the unofficial US News Media numbers are larger compared to the above DOD (Pentagon) numbers.
That is why "the economy" is not doing better.
Anilof,
It is Patriot Acts, Plural,as in President Obama's January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts. As President Obama shown during a January 22, 2009 Staged News Media Event signing into US Laws, 04:38 minutes of 11:55 minutes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLSeD19m3UE
To close all loop holes not mentioned in his January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts, President Obama signs into US Law his NDAA, for Indefinite Detentions of US Citizens.
And don't blame me, while all of you were drooling all over yourselves since Candidate Obama became President, I was reading his January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts; especially the Preemptive Detentions, Monitoring and Censorship of All US Communications, US Military Use of Deadly Force Against US Citizens, Expansion of Presidential Powers, Material Support to Terrorist Organizations, inclusion of provisions of previously defeated as Unconstitutional S.1959 and H.R.1955 aka the George Orwell 1984 Thought Crimes Laws, Redacted Interrogations, etc.. Then later I warned all of you, and all you could say was "Conspiracy Theorist", "Wearing a Tin Foil Hat", "Racist", "Prejudiced", "Loser", etc.. So now that it is too late*,
*you cannot change anything as, "Anyone Stating a Radical Change to (US) Government is a Homegrown Domestic Terrorist" - President Obama's January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts.
Generally, the people that constantly deny Iran's president ever called for the extermination of Israel are the same people who constantly preach that Islam is a religion of peace and love. The more they say it however, the more laughable it becomes!
Before WWII they didn't listen when Hitler threatened to take over land he though was rightfully Germaine's look what happened! England said they would help Poland if they invaded, they did nothing look what happened. If we ignore history it will repeat itself.
Coyote, that's been theorized before. That Armageddon, the War to end all wars will start in the middle east. Israel is not happy with the Obama administration so they will not think twice about attacking Iran before the elections this fall if brought to that point.
Perhaps the Mayan calendar is right after all.
Hey Highway - Iran has not threatened to wipe Israel off the map. That is a lie which has been repeated so often, fools like you believe it is the truth. Iran has not started a war with another nation for almost 200 years. Quite a record, wouldn't you say? Israel has attacked it's neighbors repeatedly and has been threatening to attack Iran, since the 1990s.
Ahmadinejad also gave an interview to New York Times
op-ed columnist Nicholas Kristof in which he discussed the dispute over his
country's nuclear activities.
He said that if the United States gives Iran 20%-enriched
uranium, "we will cease the domestic enrichment of uranium of up to 20%
this very week. We only want the 20% enrichment for our domestic consumption.
If they give it to us according to international law, according to IAEA laws,
without preconditions, we will cease domestic enrichment."
So what did Ahmadinejad actually say? To
quote his exact words in Farsi:
"Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e
qods bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv
shavad."
That passage will mean nothing to most
people, but one word might ring a
bell: rezhim-e. It is the word "regime." pronounced just like
the English
word with an extra "eh" sound at the end. Ahmadinejad did not
refer to
Israel the country or Israel the land mass, but the Israeli regime. This
is a vastly significant distinction, as one cannot wipe a regime off the
map. Ahmadinejad does not even refer to Israel by name, he instead uses the
specific phrase "rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods" (regime occupying
Jerusalem).
So this raises the question.. what exactly
did he want "wiped from the map"?
The answer is: nothing. That's because the word "map" was never
used. The Persian word for
map, "nagsheh" is not contained anywhere in
his original Farsi quote, or, for that matter, anywhere in his entire
speech. Nor was the western phrase "wipe out" ever said. Yet we are
led
to believe that Iran's president threatened to "wipe Israel off the
map."
despite never having uttered the words "map." "wipe out" or
even "Israel."
The Proof:
The full quote translated directly to
English:
"The Imam said this regime
occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time."
It is splitting hairs but it was a huge
misquote by Israel.
Quuestion! Why did the U.S. transfer all those bunker buster bombs to the island of Diego Garcia South of Iran?
22 Mar 2010 – Hundreds of powerful US “bunker-buster” bombs are being shipped from California to the British island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean
!
No U.S. soldier or airman should ever have to fight and die for Israel. If Israel wants to start a war that is their problem, not ours. We don't owe Israel anything.
The real question is how much of an appetite do the American people have for getting drawn into another foreign war after Iraq and Afghanistan.
Very little. We shouldn't have to have any more appetite for it than the Israeli gov't does, which is none whatsoever. They don't want any Israeli blood shed or money spent; well, we don't want any more American blood shed or money spent. We should give them exactly as much help with Iran as they gave us with our War on Terror after we were attacked on 9/11 . ZERO.
They wanted to be a sovereign nation; well, a sovereign nation has to be willing to fight and die for its own causes and for its own survival.
And just where is the Secretary of the State ?
The same morons who exaggerated the Iraqi threat are now back at it with Iran.
The right wing neo-con Likudists who love to start wars without paying for them.
Most all of the Israeli intelligence and defense community is FIRMLY AGAINST the idea of a strike against Iran.
Bibi would better marshal his forces to rely LESS on America, NOT more. If the U.S. were to fall into a real economic depression, Bibi would have to work it out himself instead of whining.
Oh for the days when Israel had a broad and multi-dimensional foreign policy. Can't wait for the day this king of pandering leaves office.
Iran is far from being a legitimate republic, and we all know just how peaceful and tolerant Islam is. Your statement isn't very reassuring.
there goes ralph h with the same old BS, ONE single mistranslation years ago supplied by the Iranian news agency and you have locked on to that ONE thing like it is the ONLY thing in existence, yet Iran has repeatedly threatened Israel several times since, their supreme leader made such a threat just a couple months ago.
I say let Israel do it's own thing. The more the U.S. is seen as interacting/interfering, the more we get blamed. Cooler heads won't prevail on this one. Israel is way too used to the U.S. covering it's back. If it wants to go at this, it should go at it alone. They have been posturing for way too long in the shadow of the U.S. It's time that the U.S. remove the teet and let Israel go at it on their own. It will likely make them think thrice before taking on Iran without big brother's help.
Israel will not attack Iran, because they are yellow dogs. Israel only attacks when it knows it will win decisively and not suffer casualties. They attack unarmed countries, such as Lebanon, which has no way to shoot down an F16 or the Gaza Strip, which also has nothing but rifles and bottle rockets.
Beware of another Israeli false flag attack on an American asset, such as the attack on the Liberty or 9/11.
Thanks Ralph, you are 100% right. The are waiting for Uncle Sucker to sacrifice their own 1st.
Of course Israel makes its own decisions, but a preemptive attack by them against Iran would diminish world support. I understand their level of discomfort at the prospect of living with the same threat of 'mutually assured destruction' under which we have for decades, but attacking first because you're "afraid they plan to do something" rarely seems righteous to me. I wonder who would "win" if no other country in the world helped Israel - seriously, who wants to fight Israel in open war? Not me!
The headline reads: Top US General visits Israel....the story then says it was an Admiral that made the visit....that headline could stand a rewrite.
92% of US Citizens NEVER Served in the US Military,
so what do you expect.
Calling SEALs the animal Seals.
Marines being called Soldiers.
Soldiers being called Airmen.
And even funnier most on Newsvine then post that I don't know what I am talking about.
As the Admiral is wearing fatigues, he was identified as a General.
Every civilian knows that the Navy only wears Donald Duck outfits, and only the Army wears fatigues.
What the Air Force and the Marines wear is still a mystery to most civilians.
CPO Sharkey
I beg to differ with you. They are called BDUs (Battle Dress Uniforms) and I bet you go to any Navy base and see Sailors wearing them.
Fatigues was a very long time ago like when I went thru Coronado, the term is USN "Utilities" or NWUs (Navy Work Uniforms).
The USMC calls theirs, MARPATs (with different patterns based on terrain).
The US Army calls theirs, ACUs (changing to new pattern, non digital).
The USAF calls their, ABUs.
It is so confusing.
Being Joint US Military Asymmetric Warfare all of us just wear tan, tan equipment, tan weapons and equipment wraps, etc. (all that digital crap does is catch attention during movements). During the Winter we switch to arctic whites, white equipment wraps. Other Missions black.
BDUs went bye bye a while back. Some State's National Guard Units still use BDUs.
Tragedy is that we (US Military Officers) buy all of our uniforms. So in my closets Stateside I have "pickle suits" aka OD Green Fatigues (end 1980s, even USN Coronado), BDUs (winter and summer), USMC "Utilities" (when I was training with them), USN "Khakis" (when I was training with them), USAF Flightsuits (sage), US Army Flightsuits (OD Green), all the coats and jackets, shoes, boots, 12 suits, etc.. Thousands of bucks wasted. Before someone says something, Enlisted and NCOs get Issued Uniforms; Officer buy, except Issued "Field Gear" (Inclimate Weather Uniforms).
Times-Running-Out.....
I know, I was being sarcastic.
And if I had said BDUs, or any other term, the civilians wouldn't have had a clue as to what I was talking about.
When you talk to a civilian you have to speak their lingo. Otherwise, it's like talking Japanese at them.
By the way, it's 9:08 National Guard Time on the west coast :)
I don't know how much bad "stupid" will inflict upon the very near future but it does seem determined.
The "wipe Israel off the map" comment is more about getting elected/holding power just like how the Dems put back in God and Israel in their program or whatever. I cannot believe that anyone takes it seriously, it would be suicide for Iran to nuke Israel. Seriously WTF do think is going to happen to Iran afterwards if they were that stupid? Don't believe the hype.
They just want the same toys that Israel has even though Israel should not have any nuclear weapons themselves. Why do people not cry about U.N. inspectors in Israel? Do I have to point out where they are hidden at? Why is it ok for Israel to have nukes and not Iran? How many countries in the world ALREADY have nukes? Iran can just buy nukes if they wanted from Russia or China. They could ALREADY have bought them and are waiting for someone to attack so they can use them in "defense". That is how I would do it, bait them, then punish them severely without consequences since I did not start the attack and am just acting in self-defense.
Did we not make this stupid mistake trying to get another country that does not like India to give up their nukes when WE WOULD NEVER GIVE UP OUR NUKES in a million years. Who the F*** came up with that bright idea? Yeah they are going to give up their nukes, guns, airplanes, tanks, etc. for no good reason and weaken themselves. Put yourself in their shoes before you make idiot demands.
Worse then white women when it comes to over exaggerating the danger you are in. White women in danger, white women in danger, HELP! I thought Israel was bad a$$ wtf do you need the U.S.'s help for, or anyone else's for that matter?
How much cheaper would gas be if we did not have this embargo against Iran btw?
The political objective in the region is to remove Israel and return the Palestinians to the area that was once their homes, enabling a new country called Palestine.
That objective cannot be enabled if Israel/Palestine is irradiated. So nuclear weapons are absolutely no good in removing Israel.
What Iran needs nuclear weapons for is to sustain their threat to close the Hormuz Straits. An EMP airburst would knock out the electronics on an oil tanker, making it unmaneuverable in the Straits. No shipping company is going to authorize their tankers to transit the Strait under that threat. Think of it as an Iranian embargo on oil.
Thus, like we are denying Iran 40% of their oil exports, Iran would be in position to deny Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and a few others a significant percentage of their export, as well as increasing the price of oil to the west (predominately Europe). Even though we buy little of our oil from the Middle East, if the European economy was sufficiently staggered by a substantial shortage, our economy would feel it in our exports.
So, in summary, that's the politics of the Iranian nuclear program, and why the Israeli military holds an altenate view to the Israeli politicains over the need for war. It is also why the US and the Europeans feel time is not a pressing commodity. Israel will not be nuked the day after Iran manufactures nuclear warheads.
CPO Sharkey,
As in Chief Petty Officer Sharkey (could never get those Petty Officer Ratings correct as to why I had so much trouble while training at Coronado as well as when I was getting my other USN training and ratings of surface warfare and dolphins). Anyway, the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran does not need Nuclear Weapons for the Strait of Hormuz.
The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran learned from their Mistakes during the Iran Iraq Wars (Including the Strait of Hormuz), while the US forgot.
Read this:
Iraq. http://david393071.newsvine.com/_news/2012/01/03/9928679-iran-2009-to-2012-strait-of-hormuz
(Unclassified) Previously, the British SAS attempting to conduct Special Reconnaissance were captured while attempting to go into Iran, near the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Captured along with the British SAS Team were Iranian Interpreters and Guides.
So with the above in mind, talking around things, I mentioned Farsi (at post#8.1), take a rough guess how I know about what the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran is up to. We previously told our British counterparts to learn Farsi, so that they would not require Iranians (possible Iranian counter intelligence especially if they still have family at Iran (hostages, leverage)).
Tired, while I don't agree with everything you said, you were at least making some sense until you got the part about the White women exaggerating danger? WTH is that all about?
David, or is it Paul - Petty officer rating are pretty simple. There is petty officer 3rd class -E4, second class -E5, first class -E6 and chief petty officer E7-E9. Its hard to figure out how a genius, neo conservative, such as you, who is an expert in asymmetric warfare and all, would have such trouble.
Hell, you claim to know everything the ayatollahs are thinking and what their next moves might be. Perhaps all you are is a Zionist propagandist, lobbying for another war for Israel.
Answer the question about how the passport made it out of the airplane, that allegedly hit the Twin Towers, wher it landed on the ground, mostly undamaged? Wow, that one sure sounds far fetched to me. Perhaps you can come up with a plausible explanation of how it could jump out of a hi jackers wallet, exit the plane and ball of flame, and make it to the ground, to be found by a stranger in a suit, who then disappears into the crowd.
It is in the 9/11 Commision report. I don't make this stuff up. Can you say, "inside job"?
It appears you don't like to answer these kind of questions, as you haven't yet anwered even one.
http://www.historycommons.org/context.jsp?item=a091201passportfound
The passport of 9/11 hijacker Satam Al Suqami is reportedly
found a few blocks from the World Trade Center. [ABC News, 9/12/2001; Associated Press, 9/16/2001; ABC News, 9/16/2001] Barry Mawn, the director of the
FBI’s New York office, will say that police and the FBI find it during a “grid
search” of the area. [CNN, 9/18/2001] However a senior counsel to the
9/11 Commission will later claim the passport is actually discovered by a
passerby and given to a New York City Police Department detective, “shortly
before the World Trade Center towers collapsed.” [9/11 Commission, 1/26/2004] According to FBI
agent Dan Coleman, Al Suqami’s passport is handed to a New York City detective
who is “down there, trying to talk to people as they were coming out of the
buildings.” By the time the detective looks up again after receiving the
passport, the man who handed it to him has run off, “which doesn’t make sense,”
Coleman will say. The passport is then given to a detective on the Joint
Terrorism Task Force. Coleman will say that by this evening, “we realized… that
this was the passport of one of the people that headquarters had identified as
one of the 19 probable hijackers.” [France 5, 3/14/2010] Investigative journalist Nick
Davies will later write that he talked to “senior British sources who said they
believed that the discovery of a terrorist’s passport in the rubble of the Twin
Towers in September 2001 had been ‘a throwdown,’ i.e. it was placed there by
somebody official.” [Davies, 2009, pp. 248] The Guardian
will comment, “The idea that Mohamed Atta’s passport had escaped from that
inferno unsinged [tests] the credulity of the staunchest supporter of the FBI’s
crackdown on terrorism.” (Note that, as in this Guardian account, the passport
will frequently be mistakenly referred to as belonging to Atta, not Al Suqami.)
It does not matter how many Generals visit Israel, Iran is keeping up there making there nuke s, and Israel has no choce but try to knock them out, so far this country has stood in Israel way but i would say there patience is wearing thin.
Randy Bob.. That is pure BS! You don't know your subject. That is the right wing christians , singing that tune.
actually rob how old are you?
you sound like a 10 year old with no clue
you actually need to look up irans history unless of course your iranian and dont believe in history
there is a reason for history to rimind us there are idiots who need to be watched and that pretty much covers every government lol
something about greed that brings the best of us out
do you even know iran sure doesnt sound like it
read up before ranting up
also though im not to sure how iran is standing in isreals way iether isreal stands neck deep in their own crap also just like every country ya no pulling punches on that note isreal is one of the largest greed masters on the planet, pretty hard to be close to god when you got a hand in everyones pocket we forget isreal has the monopoly on diamonds
and that rates to me as sadsadsad
treat everyone like your brother and sister wow one can only imagine the peace that the world is missing
Gee Keith, maybe you can work on your English grammar and spelling before you post your non-sensible drivel. Here you go on a rant with no substance to back your poorly thought out sentences and you accuse someone else of ranting.
"something about greed that brings the best of us out" - You're referring to America's and Israel's warmongering military industrial complexes both of which have waged some of the most vicious, unprovoked wars over the last decade. Few industries such as the weapons manufacturers are greedier with exception of the oil companies who hope to have war to prop up the high prices for their product. Think about it - Who gains the most when war breaks out? Weapons companies and oil companies. So put that in your war pipe and think before you write.
Oh wait until after the ELECTION HUSSEIN SAID. I have to give my Muslim Brothers time to build the bombs. Remember when he said, IRAN is a little country. LOL. HE FOOLED A LOT OF DUMB americans. LOL. THis clown does not care about Isreal. He is only doing this to look like he his. After the election he wont care about Isreal. Wake up Americans and work. Get a job and work you way up the ladder. Dont have your hand our.
Another one to put on ignore.
And neither does the rest of the country.
Rick, I nominate you to lead the charge up the Straight of Hormuz, You trash the President because he's not in complete lock-step with Netanyahu, and of course your statement that the President doesn't care about Israel, patently false, Haven't you learned anything since Iraq, I'm not willing to have any Americans body bagged until all other options are exhausted. Curb your hatred for the president, doesn't help your argument.
Obama 2012
As an agnostic I think all sides are idiots for invoking their view of religion into this irresponsible war game. Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Christians alike are a bunch of fools in my opinion. All of you "believers" using your foolish philosophies to try to justify the destruction of each other gives me all the more reason to turn against monotheism.
The only charge Rick is going to lead, it the charge to retreat. Sisssssssssssssssssssssssssssy
Ahmadinejad says he is a friend to Americans, but the extremists will always lie to obtain their objective. The Koran tells them to.
Some Americans are Jews....does Ahmadinejad only hate Israelis or all Jews? And since the Muslim religion stole so much from the Jewish religion, what does he hate? Is it that Jews won't bow to Mohammed?
As an American Jewish Veteran, I don't like feeling threatened. I will b-slap that little oily geek so hard he'll eat pork by accident.
jw101,
Most US Citizens never even have travelled outside their States, and you expect them to have experience living at other Nations (outside their "comfort zone").
After being involved with the Middle East since the 1980s as a US Military Asymmetric Warfare (aka Special Warfare) Middle East Qualified (languages Farsi, Arabic, Pashtu; culture Islam) Officer, I get critized for many of my posts based on Firsthand Experience by those that are too lazy and only look at wikipedia (wikipedia's disclaimer of validity). US Military Training Teams to US Ally Iraq during the Iran Iraq Wars, rotated to Operation Cyclone, lots of in between Missions to other Nations till now.
Most of the people at the US do not know much about Islam. The current hatred was created by Fundamentalist Islamic Amin Al Husseini as the Representative of the Islamic World he signed the 1933 Forever Alliance with Chancellor Hitler. The mutual goals of the Islamic World and Chancellor Hitler, get the British out of the Islamic World, and the extermination of the Jews. Later Amin Al Husseini co founded the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations, Original Charter Extermination of the Jews. Co founder of the Fundamentalist Islamic Muslim Brotherhood. Started the mandatory Islamic School Curircuulum of Hitler's Mein Kampf taught as a success story sabotaged by the Jews, the Blame the Jews for everything, "Protocols of the Wise Elders of Zion" to keep the hatred going forever. Had Jordan and Egypt implement portions of his Pan Arabic Plan, with the removal by force of the original inhabitants of Palestine, the Christians and Jews, and replaced with the undersirables from Jordan and Egypt to prevent more Jews from coming to the Islamic World. Demanded that the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations attack the Jews after his Pan Arabic Plan failed. US Military Officers many as former OSS as US Civilians go to help the Jews from being massacred and help form Israel.
Does that explain why the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran hates the Jews so much. The Fundamentalist Islamic (Shia) Believers also hate the Moderate Western Liberal Islamic Believers (aka Sunnis) as Islamic Heretics. The Fundamentalist Islamic Believers outnumber the Moderate Islamic Believers as the Fundamentalist Islamic Believers shoot first as the dead do not complain, so while the Sunnis is mouthing off (negotiations as "empty words") to the Shia; the Shia just shoots the Sunnis in the face, end of conversation. And if you happen to be around US Citizen (UN Observer Mission), then the Shia will say, See what you made me do....I killed him/her because you are here.
By the way President Ahmadinejad is an arse puppet, the Fundamentalist Islamic Ayatollahs of Iran control everything. So the 109 Suras of the 114 Suras of the Holy Koran (Quran) Calls to All Islamic Believers to War Against the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers is Law, non participation is punishable by Death, not open to discussion nor interpretation.
Some Americans are also moslems or do you think jews should have some special place. I am tired of two passport americans. You come here you leave your crap behind you rather you are jew moslem, irish catholic or whatever. Not one dime more for Israel and let them fight their own damm wars. Suggest you look at a map dumba$$, see those really big oceans and we still have thousands of nukes, 11 carrier taskforces, nobody is a threat to us, let Israel put their big boy pants on and do it alone, it is time to nationbuild here, take care of people in the US.
aren't you getting enough freebies?
JW, first of all, thank you for your service to Our Country.
Frankly, believing the head of Iran saying he is a "Friend of Americans" is like believing in the so called "Moderate" Muslims while the Muslim leadership tells us we can't do this or we shouldn't do that as it will piss off the extremists. But at the same time they never condemn those same extremists.
Funny, after reading your post, I googled muslims+condemn+terrorism and found a flurry of articles dating back past 9/11/01. Of course, a bunch of headlines isn't evidence by itself. Upon closer inspection, seems major muslim bodies round the world have been condemning terrorism for quite some time now.
Of course, having explained that to a lethargic bigot whose laziness was already apparent at the time of my reading, I can predict the response to be along the lines of "Yeah?! ....Welll.....welll I ain't heard em. Maybe they oughtta be yellin atop their buildings in unison so that I can hear em from Tennesee"
Hey NBC News...headline says a General visited....I'm sure the Admiral will be surprised he's been mustered out of the US Navy. Maybe the headline needs to be reworked a bit?
Thanks Dan-1018744 for the wisely worded post. America is tired of war. If david-475776 and his ilk want to get all gung-ho then let them be the first to join up and fight their war. We don't need to sacrifice our men and women for Israel's dangerous adventures. Iran ain't Iraq and you can bet your bottom dollar that they will get the backing of the Chinese (who by the way just launched their 1st multiple warhead ICBM) and the Russians who will definitely use this conflict as a proxy to harm us just like they did in Vietnam. All over a ridiculous perceived fear and a verbal threat! Iran will never be stupid enough to attack anyone with a nuke because they know they would be the ones blown away. They don't have hundreds of nukes like Israel does so it's foolish to think that they are a threat to Israel. MAD principles have worked for so far between the superpowers, why not between regional powers?
Plus - any viable threat is contingent upon the means to carry it out. With that said, Israel's threats are much more dangerous considering they have the means to carry it out. Iran doesn't, no matter how loud the mullahs yell.
Why did you post this gibberish twice?
David, first you need to loosen up that towel wrapped around your head. It's cutting off the blood flow to your brain. (Hey, you decided to attack me first, for what I have no idea.)
Second, the fact that you have a penchant for throwing around the F word in your rant tells everyone on the vine a lot about you as a person. I imagine they pretty much discounted your opinions value for that.
Third, posting the same rant twice does not make it any more important than it was the first time. Just makes the vine get longer.
It's OK to have a different opinion on something, but personal attacks, cursing, and double posting does nothing for you as a contributing writer to the vine.
The Nannyware (Monitoring Software) that was placed on all our computers after that Prisoner Manning wikileaks causes "glitches" sometimes.
It did get your attention though.
Yes, we wear shemagh to blend in with the locals while living with them, it is NOT a towel.
You need to loosen up I was NOT attacking you, if I was you would definitely know.
FACT is that it is TOO F**KING LATE. In 2010 US Ally Saudi Arabia was begging (imagine that) the US and Israel to do something before the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran completed their Underground Facilities. President Obama's response was to send Secretary of Defense Gates to placate the Saudis (and still do nothing), I was TDA from Afghanistan to Saudi Arabia to attend that meeting (make sure what was being translated, said was accurate, and "gleen" any potential intelligence from the Saudis).
Go right ahead and pick on minute (small sh!t) and ignore the Firsthand Experience Facts of my Posts. I don't care, my motive for even posting on Newsvine is a record just in case I don't survive this time. At the beginning when I was becoming US Military Asymmetric Warfare Middle East Qualified there were almost a thousand of us, now there are only less than a couple dozen of us that survived.
Dude what the f*ck are you talking about? How did you turn this around in order to point the finger at the current president? You do know that this b*ll@!$%# conflict has been going on for decades, well before Obama was born right? That and the fact that nobody in this country should actually GIVE A @!$%#! This is Europe"s problem, it always has been but the jewish lobby in this country has people thinking that it is ours. Most people who settled there came from the carnage out of Europe after WW2, NOT AMERICA! As far as the Saudi's are concerned, THEY SELL US OIL, the jews don't. They just collect from us the most foreign aid of any nation year-to-year. It's time for Israel to put up or shut up, we aren't fighting this war for them so they'd better get their asses in gear. I'm not too concerned about some missile coming from Tehran to hit us, because it would be shot down before it left that side of the globe, but Israel had better be concerned.
David cannot answer my posts. The phoney military whiz, with the big talk, is just another Israeli troll, sitting at his keyboard on his ARSE, whipping out his anti muslim propaganda.
In his defense, it is tough to fight facts.
Did the Republicans learn anything from Iraq, the drumbeat of war with Iran from Romney and his stooges from the neo con chicken hawks is a scary thought by every American, are we to be that ignorant to understand what the Republicans are doing here, under mining the President once again for political reasons. To imagine Israel without nuclear weapons and them being put at risk as nuclear extinction is laughable, imagine what a threat to Iran could bring, Romney has already managed to insult both China and Russia, Iran's two allies. What would happen if either Israel or America attacks Iran, does any American truly believe those two nations will sit back and watch that, they have already set the mind set on Syria and that is a failed dictatorship. If Romney and the neo cons want to push that nuclear winter window closer then ever before then his policy about Iran is getting him closer to that goal. All weapons are available with nuclear capability are there for Israel for the USA, starting WW3 over a threat had better be worth ending civilization!
all this posturing doesn't help anything and who can believe a lying
republican congressman, they don't know anything or do anything.
Its good that our President is his own man and his job is to do what is
best for America over any foreign nation and that includes Israel.
On Tuesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the West of launching an "all-out ... war" by imposing oil and banking sanctions on his country
lol nothing happening here
nothing to do with a peacefull nuke program ah iran just want to light up the sky is all
we can tell just by your president you are so peacefull and willing to be a leader in the middle east by training and harboring idiots
oh you have a special power no one needs to know and sweep away world war 2 that didnt happen so many actors and actresses to make that movie
and such clean torture chambers with only your own peeps blood on the floor ya iran you are #1
and hell how can we dought the russians oh they forgot to tell you they were part of ww2 well at least they were part of hitlers gang of setting up 40000 polish officers for assasination, so russia could claim poland what russia? nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo do that? nooooooooo
bummer the usa is more on saving innocent peeps over killing for greed, something about being a human and loving your neighbors and like everyone that must be earned with proof one wants a true peace and not pulling a camel skin over others eyes
what a safe team to have russia and iran side by side
id feel safer in hell
funny how a lil trust can do wonders for a country but trust seams to be lacking all over the world and that is the biggest hurdle besides giving up your pride apperantly
ya with a you cant see but believe me we are peaceful policy belief isnt going to happen iranian plane hijacker boys ya one doesnt forget how an iranian governments who condons idiot hijackers just are not to be trusted till they prove themselvs in this time frame iran certainly hasent prooved anything anytime except being idiots
If the Israelis want to strike they will. The interests of the USA are not their concern. We should take a lesson from their book and take care of our own needs first. WE could have a much more comfortable and secure existence in our own country if we would deal with the problems in our own country. Rather than involving ourselves in the uncontrollable and undesirable actions of other nations.
Correct. And add to that Mr. Obama's repeated undermining of Israeli actions designed to obtain Iran's compliance and to prepare to take action against Iran, and the clearest signal being sent from Washington right now is that the US will not take any military action against Iran or even lend support to others that do. So all the Iranians have to do is weather the sanctions and they will have their nukes. And when they or one of their terrorist puppets use them against US and/or our allies the blood will be on Mr.Obama's hands.
the only ally to spy on the US is Israel-which makes them more of a leech
Nice try Ed, but if the Israeli's thought they could whip Iran by moving unilaterally, they would have done it already. Iran has them shytting in their pants. The Israeli's know that if they strike first, absent U.S. involvement, Iran will retaliate. I say @!$%# the Jew. We have been carrying their water for too long now. They are hypocrites and worse and wsant t be the only nuclear power in the middle east. Why should that be?
.
Ran out of time and could not get your comment entered did you?
He's still trying to figure out why his flag is upside down......
HaHaHa thanks for the laugh CKSM. that was so funny!
Israel has more nukes than nearly anyone in the region yet no one else can have them- seems like the old bullying tactics of Israel-the Dems even wrote in their speech that Jer. was their capital city- now even the Dems help the Jews deny the Pal. their own state and Obama touts he's done a good job- all of this shws who's really in charge in DC- look behind all media/movies/books from agents on up- Obama approved a 700 million iron shield over Israel at the taxpayer's expense- America is blind- let Israel do their own dirty work- they are only too happy to spill our blood and our waste money
I guess Woodrow Wilson was right at keeping us out of the League of Nations. Just look at the mess we have now in the world. He didn't want us involved in civil disputes between political rivalries or religious sects. We have troops spread all over the world so thin that none would be effective should war actually break out. We have become the nuclear police force to decide who has these weapons and who doesn't. Yet no one puts us in check when we develop new weapons. Kind of a one sided view! If Iran thinks that administering sanctions is a "declaration of war" then they have no real concept of war. We don't need nukes to level their cities. What happened in 1979 only helped their people gain in prosperity, even though they held civilians hostage, since we were backing a very corrupt system. They say they like us but they allow their citizen to burn our flag without reprisals. If they really want to be our ally then be open about what it is they really want since no knows for sure.
I like the message the General is delivering!! We don't want to be tied to that, and there is no reason too, as Israel could blow Iran off the map. Personally, I feel Iran is a sovereign country and can do what they want. The whole world has nuclear weapons, so who's to say they can't. If Israel attacks, Iran is going to blame us too, weather we were involved or not! Let's stay far away from that!!!!
After obama's speech last night that provided no clue as to what he will do about trimming the budget, the deficet, or how he will get millions back to work Iran may possibly be his ace in the hole. Presidents have a tendacy to get reelected during major conflicts, and with elections comming in 60 days should we expect a major confrontation within the next 45 days?.
oh so that's why in 1968 LBJ ran for a 2nd term and won in landslide right?
Israel wont attack Iran for fear of taking out the oil fields- if they did they would disrupt the flow of oil to China and Russia- so they would have 2 new enemies- which is why they want the US to do it-with friends like that who needs enemies
people don't realize that our 2 carrier groups now stationed in the Gulf would be decimated by silkworm missiles fired by the hundreds should a major conflict arise. Not to mention the thousands of suicidal swift boats directed at them armed with high explosives. And this Iron Shield that is spoken of? - Let's not be mistaken that if this gets out of hand you can bet highly toxic chemical warfare will be initiated by the Syrians (who will have little to lose), Hezbollah, and Iran. Some of those missiles WILL reach their target and that's not a good thing for the Jews to contemplate.
The leaders of Iran are bad. They were voted out of office but stole the election with a coup that rounded up and eliminated all opposition. Dungeons, torture, death, expulsion. They are radical Islamists who preach hate and war against the US, Isreal, the west, and Christianity. Their biggest enemies, like the communists, the nazis, the taliban, are freedom and justice. They are building a strong military backed by missles and they are working on an atomic bomb. Their own people hate them BUT like communist China, North Korea, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, there is no free press, free speech, no one dares to speak. So, should we bomb them? Should Israel try to take out their nuclear facitiliteis. Only if you want to watch the entire Middle East and Islamic countries unite in one big hate Isreal & the US movement. Right now, the mideast is rapidly changing. The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is HUNTING DOWN radical Islamists in the Sinai Peninsula. Isreal gave them the go ahead to put troops there. Lybia has a moderate government opening up to the world. The Assad regime in Syria may or may not fall, but even if it doesn't, an underground guerilla war will go on a long time. The billions of dollars it had in reserves is gone and the country is a wreck, meaning business is not good. Saudi Ariabia is opening up a little, not much, but big change for such a closed, radical society. They are supporting the rebels in Syria. Turkey is on the rebels side. Both Saudi Arabia and Turkey, either very rich or very influential, are fighting the Iranians on all fronts. So, BOMBING IRAN will undo all of this. How could Saudi Arabia and Turkey look the other way when their own citizens will ask what they are doing for their "brothers" in Iran, even though the entire Arab "brotherhood" has been a joke since day one. Tell the Israelis to take a chill pill, and IF they do something as stupid to bomb Iran, good luck, because we are not only staying out of it, we are not going to back you up. In fact, the billions we give you in aid: You can count that gone, too.
Israel can easily beat up Iran in a conventional war. They had beaten the combine Syria, Jordan, Egypt armies plus hundred thousands Soviet/Cuba advisers and Arab volunteers several times (3 big wars). This is the reason that Iran must have nuke to win or MAD (mutually assure destruction).
If Iran doe not change its position, Israel will attack right after Obama win the election (December 22, 2012?). If Romney win,Israel will wait 3-6 months for the completion of power transfer in the US. I am willing to bet that Obama will win and Dec 22, 2012 will be the end of Iran as a nation!!!
There is always a reaction to every action. Even better: the best laid plans of mice and men...All the interference the United States has been involved in, whether overthrowing one central american government after another, or overthrowing middle east governments like Iran back in the 1950s, eventually comes back around. This just doesn't apply to us. It applies to Russia, China, Iran, Israel, and any country that support covert activity to make things go their way. It works for a while, then it comes back to haunt you. What does the biblical saying.."the sins of the father will be cast upon the sons...' mean? Yes, Isreal can take out Iran right now. End of that problem. Peace, justice, freedom, success. Everything is wonderful. Forever. Not quite. IF Iran attacked Isreal, OK. Have to defend yourself, IF Isreal attacks Iran, different story. Those wacko Imams in Tehran will eventually go down. The Soviet Union is gone. China is captilatist - communist. They are on their way out. Khaddafy is gone. Hussien is gone. Mubarek is gone. Yeah, the Castos still run Cuba, the Kim Il-Sungs still run North Korea. But they are exceptions. Let the leaders in Iran do themselves in. They are already circuling the wagons. No one talks and acts the way they do UNLESS they are worried about their own a#$#$#$#. Big mistake if Isreal attacks them. It will be a temporary victory but the story will just begin.
