Anti-US protests over Islam film spread in Middle East

Security forces faced violent protests in Egypt and Yemen spurred by angry mobs accusing the U.S. of insulting the prophet Mohammad. NBC's Richard Engel reports.

Updated at 10:56 p.m. ET: Protesters angry over an obscure film critical of Islam's Prophet Muhammad stormed the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen, on Thursday, as unrest that led to the deaths of a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans in Libya spread to other countries in the region.

Yemeni security forces fired into the air as demonstrators reached the embassy's grounds, according to The Associated Press and Reuters. The New York Times reported that protesters managed to set fire to a building inside the compound but were forced by security forces to pull back after trying to take furniture and computers.

A local hospital official said the body of one person had been brought in from the scene of the clashes and medics were trying to determine the cause of death, Reuters reported. A security source told the news agency that at least 15 people were wounded, some from bullets, and 12 people were arrested.

A Yemeni official said that order had since been restored, but the situation on the ground appeared to remain fluid.

Demonstrators converge on the American Embassy in Sanaa, Thursday, angered over an anti-Islamic film. NBCNews.com's Al Stirrett reports.

"Initial reports are that all embassy personnel are safe and accounted for," a U.S. State Department official told NBC News.

President Barack Obama ordered his administration to do whatever is necessary to protect Americans abroad.

Speaking at a re-election campaign rally in Golden, Colo., Obama said he and his aides had been in contact with other governments "to let them know they've got a responsibility to protect our citizens."

In Yemen, protesters breach the of the U.S. Embassy compound in the capital, Sanaa, as a wave of anti-American demonstrations sweeps across several Middle East nations. NBC's Richard Engel reports from Cairo.

President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi offered "a personal apology" to Obama over the incident and ordered a swift investigation.

Libya's deputy interior ministry Hadi blamed "mob-like groups" bent on harming Yemeni-U.S. relations for the attack and promised to ensure they are properly punished, state news agency Saba said.

In a statement, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said: "The United Nations rejects defamation of religion in all forms. At the same time, nothing justifies the brutal violence which occurred in Benghazi."

An Obama administration official told NBC News: "We are doing everything we can to support our mission in Yemen. We've had good cooperation from the Yemeni government which is working with us to maintain order and protect our facilities and people. These protests appear to be motivated by the (anti-Islam) film."

Reports: Anti-Islam video linked to Christian extremists in US

By early afternoon local time, the crowd amassed outside the embassy compound in Sanaa appeared to be in the thousands, with witness estimates ranging from about 4,000 to as many as 10,000. The demonstrators smashed windows of security offices outside the embassy and burned cars.

Yemeni protesters burn US flag
Before storming the U.S. Embassy compound in Sanaa Thursday, the demonstrators removed the embassy's sign on the outer wall and set tires ablaze. Once inside the compound, they brought down the U.S. flag and burned it.

Film on al-Jazeera television showed demonstrators jumping up and down on the parapet of the building and scaling the walls.

The young demonstrators shouted "we redeem, Messenger of God," Reuters reported. Others held aloft banners declaring "Allah is Greatest."

Yemen is home to al-Qaida's most active branch and the United States is the main foreign supporter of the Yemeni government's counterterrorism campaign. The government on Tuesday announced that al-Qaida's No. 2 leader in Yemen was killed in an apparent U.S. airstrike, a major blow to the terror network.

The United States, eager to help Yemen recover from the upheaval that put the state on the verge of collapse, has said it would provide $345 million in security, humanitarian and development assistance this year, more than double last year's aid.

The U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed after protesters angry over a film that ridiculed Islam's Prophet Muhammad stormed the U.S. consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, as protests spread across the region.

Meanwhile in Egypt, protesters hurled stones at a police cordon around the U.S. Embassy in Cairo after climbing into the embassy and tearing down the American flag. The state news agency said 13 people were injured in violence that erupted late on Wednesday.

In Jordan, a fanatic group and a youth movement have called for big demonstration in front of the American embassy in Amman, NBC News' Moufaq Hhatib reported. Jordanian security forces said they will try to prevent them from reaching the embassy and have heightened security measures in the area. The embassy has issued a warning to Americans in Jordan to avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place.

The unrest followed Tuesday night's attack on the U.S. Consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, where Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other American were killed.

Former Navy SEALs among dead
The other three Americans have been identified as Foreign Service information officer Sean Smith and two ex-Navy SEALs Glen Doherty, 42, a native of Winchester, Mass., and Tyrone Woods, 41, of Imperial Beach, Calif.

On Thursday, the Boston Globe quoted Doherty's sister, Katie Quigley of Marblehead, Mass., as saying that her brother died in the attack on the U.S. facility.

"He was on security detail and he was protecting the ambassador and also helping the wounded" at the time of his death, she told the newspaper.

Doherty had served in Afghanistan and Iraq, his sister said. He had been working for a private security firm when he was killed, she told the paper.

Yemeni protestors break a door of the U.S. Embassy during a protest about a film ridiculing Islam's Prophet Muhammad Thursday.

"I never thought he'd be another victim of September 11," the Globe quoted her as saying.

Two killed in Libya attack identified as ex-Navy SEALs

President Barack Obama said the killers would be tracked down and ordered two destroyers to the Libyan coast.

The protesters' anger was triggered by the amateurish anti-Islamic film, a trailer for which appeared on YouTube, although U.S. authorities said Wednesday that they could not rule out the possibility that al-Qaida-inspired Islamist militants had already planned the deadly attack in Libya's second city to coincide with Sept. 11.

There were protests and threats in several other countries in the Middle East.

On Thursday, the Asaib al-Haq militia threatened U.S. interests in Iraq over the film; the group carried out some of the most prominent attacks on foreigners during the Iraq War.

In the Iranian capital, Tehran, Agence France-Presse reported that around 500 demonstrators converged on the Swiss Embassy, which handles American interests in the country in the absence of formal diplomatic relations. Police held back the protesters, but the compound had already been evacuated as a precaution, AFP said.

About 1,000 Bangladeshi Islamists tried to march on the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka after protests earlier in the week outside U.S. missions in Tunisia, Sudan and Morocco.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai called the making of the movie a "devilish act" but said he was certain those involved in its production were a very small minority.

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul appealed to Afghan leaders for help in "maintaining calm" and Afghanistan ordered the YouTube site shut down so Afghans would not be able to see the film.

In Jordan, the U.S. Embassy in Amman has issued a warning for Americans there. Islamist groups have called for big demonstrations in front of the American embassy during Friday prayers and Jordanian authorities have heightened security measures in the area.

Many Muslim states focused their condemnation on the film and will be concerned about preventing a repeat of the fallout seen after publication in a Danish newspaper of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. That episode touched off riots in the Middle East, Africa and Asia in 2006 in which at least 50 people died.

Obama speaks to leaders of Egypt, Libya
On Wednesday night, Obama spoke to the presidents of Egypt and Libya and urged them to continue working with the United States to ensure the safety of diplomats, the White House said.

Libya arrests 4 in hunt for US Consulate killings

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi promised Egypt "would honor its obligation to ensure the safety of American personnel," the White House said.

Obama told Morsi that while "he rejects efforts to denigrate Islam ... there is never any justification for violence against innocents."

On Thursday, Morsi said he supported peaceful protest but not attacks on embassies.

"Expressing opinion, freedom to protest and announcing positions is guaranteed but without assaulting private or public property, diplomatic missions or embassies," he said during a visit to Brussels.

Timeline: Political fallout from the attack on diplomats in Libya

Morsi also pledged to protect foreigners in Egypt.

Challenge for US
The developments in the Arab world, and especially in Egypt, are shaping up to be a major political and foreign policy challenge for Obama in this election year.

Egypt has been a cornerstone of American policy in the Middle East ever since it became the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1979.

Rachel Maddow shares a piece of the interviews by Telemundo anchor and host of Noticiero Telemundo, José Díaz-Balart, talking with President Barack Obama about the U.S. response to the attacks on American missions in Egypt and Libya Tuesday.

But after popular protests helped oust Egypt's longtime pro-U.S. dictator Hosni Mubarak in 2011, the country's role in American regional policy was thrown into question.

In an interview with Telemundo on Wednesday, Obama said that while he does not believe Egypt is an ally of the United States, he also does not consider the country an enemy.

"I think that we are going to have to see how they respond to this incident," Obama said.

The Obama administration was unhappy with Egypt's apparently tepid initial response to the assault on the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday.

During a separate call on Wednesday, Obama thanked Libyan President Mohamed Magariaf for his condolences over the deaths of the four Americans in Benghazi.

The White House said the two leaders agreed to "work together to do whatever is necessary to identify the perpetrators of this attack and bring them to justice."

On Thursday, Libya's deputy interior minister Wanis Sharif told Reuters that four arrests have been made in the investigation into the attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. He said the four men were suspected of helping instigate the events at the compound, but provided no other details.

I wish Muslim leaders would clearly express the fact that committing violence simply because you feel offended is wrong, and that Muslims should treat religious insults from 'infidels' as being totally meaningless. I think some Yemeni are just using the moment as an excuse for violence because they were already peeved about Saleh being granted immunity from prosecution...but I'll wait to hear what Mitt thinks (probably issue a press release any minute now).

Unfortunately the people of the Middle East live by their religion, and they are fanatics about Islam. Whoever did that movie knew exactly that this was going to happen.

I hope that Mitt Romney and the Republicans STOP with incendiary comments and ignorant presumptions, that only aggravate the situation. As the New York Times reported: "Cool minds and NOT A LOT OF RHETORIC work better when the crowds are angry and aggravated".

Get it Romeny and Ryan?????? Stop your BS rhetoric against President Obama

Remember how Reagan made an under the table deal to hold the release of the hostages in Iran just to get elected?

I wouldn't put it pass Romney and his multi billionaire cohorts (Sheldon Adelson, Rove et al) to have cooked up this entire episode just for the purpose of throwing the election. After all they were behind in the polls, losing, and desperate. Without a doubt they have the brass to pull it off. Remember the so-called WMD in Iraq. That little episode cost more than a hundred thousand lives and the same guys are with Romney today

THIS is a good example of WHY extremist are NOT ready nor will ever be ready to participate in the worlds commerce as adults. They simply cannot understand freedom of expression in any form. Taking a movie so personal is beyond civilized society's comprehension. ;]

Furthermore to actively make the U.S. your enemy over a film one has not seen is more than asinine it is ignorance. Let us also look at those Americans complicit in fueling such animosity towards are country [you know whom it is in which I speak]. To those in question you act at your own degree.

If anyone has seen the 13-minute trailer on Youtube, he will know how absolutely hokey, ridiculous and amateurish it is. A reporter aptly described the clip as a candidate for Mystery Science Theater. How anyone could become enraged by this hokey trailer is beyond my comprehension. It was so bad that it was actually hilarious a few times. It's almost unbelievable that anyone would waste time getting angry over it.

Most of the people ARE NOT criminals. That was a small group of AL-Queida militants. Don't forget that Libya just recently gained his independence, and people can't handle their freedom perfectly after 40 years of oppression.

Also, there are some that WILL ALWAYS hate Americans just because. The Marines should target ONLY the militants, and not the people. Romney wanted to get troops immediately and start massacring everybody.

I'm tired of idiots posting obama killed bin laden. He stayed out of the way... period.

Complete and utter, U.S. Grade A bull s h i t .

No soldier, however brave or well trained, is more effective than the commands which direct him, or the logistic support he is given.

Seal Team 6 did not just suddenly decide to hop over to Pakistan and take out Osama bin Laden. That final strike was the result of months of intelligence gathering and logistic preparation, without which this operation was not just impossible, it was inconceivable.

The direction and strategy which accomplished all of this came directly from White House, not from some front line commander in Kabul.

So Obama played a key role in making this blessed event happen. He certainly did not pull the trigger. But he made it a high priority to find bin Laden, and once found, he set the wheels in motion to have him killed.

They are the ONLY ones who deserve the credit.... not any of the lousy politicians.

A little history for those of you either not born at the time, too young to remember, or too blinded by partisan politics. Ronald Reagan made it known during his 1980 campaign what he was going to do about the American hostage situation in Iran. He was going to kill those responsible and make them wish they had never acted like idiots. That's how you deal with muslim fanatics. The muslim leaders knew he wasn't playing politics, and he wasn't. Both democrat and republicans voted for Reagan because he was a no nonsense leader who loved his country. He is greatly missed and sorely needed in these times that we now live.

This wasn't about the film. The film was used as an excuse to give them an opportunity to vent some of that anti-American anger. They percieve the US as butting its nose into the affairs of Muslim nations where ought not to. This is what makes the US hated. It is not to do with our lifestyle. I doubt the average middle eastern Muslim probably doesn't care even about our close ties to Israel.

Professional bootlicker OBAMA will soon apologize for the Ambassador being in the way of Muslim bullets.

He will then promise to rebuild the middle east using Social Security money.

Then he will help Mexico colonize the United States for LATINO ONLY use!

Actually Reagan did make compromises and deals once he became president. That's how he got into the Iran/contragate mess. What made Reagan great though was that he realized that you can't always talk tough in the open; sometimes you have to make backroom deals to get the job done(although legally the contragate deal went too far). However, he tried everything he could to advance his policies. It's a lot easier to make strong statements when you're not in office, but when you become President you have to be diplomatic. Unfortuantely as long as we try to be the leader of the free world, we'll be dealing with situations like this. Anybody who watches the offending video can see that it is an amateurish and cartoonish attempt to denigrate a religion. People who are attacking our embassies are angry haters who were just looking for an excuse to attack us. It's sad that a small band of lunatics can make entire nations look so bad, but we must not forget that the majority of people in this world, regardless of race, nationality, religion, are not savage murderers.

Love childish comments. Why doesn't he follow Dubya's failure and just attack Yemen with our entire military. Let's go borrow another 1.3 TRILLION to fight in a war with no purpose or end goal. Then we can all blame obama for that too.

President Obama is handling this situation the correct way.

In other words, wise men are not quick to wage war;

Exactly right, wise men are not quick to wage war, but when they do, they use the nastiest, most lethal means at their disposal to WIN it. This, unfortunately, hasn't been the case in our country for a long, long time. And perhaps drop a cruise missile or two on the little darlings once in awhile so that they won't get any ideas.

A more practical solution here is to close ALL of our embassies in the Middle East, cut off all aid, halt all Muslim immigration to the US, bring our troops home and let these deranged fifth century goonballs kill each other off. And to drop a cruise missile or two on these cat litter boxes once in a while just in case the little darlings decide to get any ideas.

This could be al qaeda or a wanna-be al qaeda striving for relevance. They could be trying to influence our elections, although it's not clear which side they're trying to help. Given the effectiveness of the drones, you would think they're trying to help Obama, but Romney doesn't seem to accept help easily.

So, the Arab Spring continues to spiral out of control. We knew this was eventually going to raise its ugly to the level we see today. Our ridiculous policy of appeasement is simply a submission of weakness to the mobs involved in all these riots.

Of course the blame is being laid on some dysfunctional YouTube video made 3 months ago. Mysteriously the outrage just happens to coincide with the 9/11 anniversary. The coincidence should make us suspect our own policies regarding the fundamentalists.

These nations are basically lawless. These newly "elected" regimes are NOT our friends, the Arab Spring is NOT a good thing. Until we realize that these lawless states will only respond to strength and not to apologies with Kumbaya moments, the violence will escalate.

As much as many want to believe that Al Qaeda has somehow been weakened because of the assassination of Osama Porn Laden, it hasn't. It's wide distribution throughout the Middle East, Northern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula proves its expanding sphere of influence.

Today we see the violence extending to Yemen and Tunisia. This is not by chance, it is being coordinated and motivated by Islamic fundamentalists. Our embassies and consulates are sovereign. Any violation of our sovereignty can and must be met with force, deadly if needed. Our ambassadors and their staffs should never be put in these situations especially with a significant anniversary such as 9/11.

This is all eerily resembling 1979 when we had another incompetent president using the same delusion of appeasement. It resulted in 444 days of chaos and terror for American citizens. Barrack Hussein continues to drop the ball on foreign policy. Of course the Liberal biased media will attack Romney who was the only statesman courageous enough to call a spade a spade.

Its time for leadership. Our forces need to be mobilized, not to engage, but to protect our embassies. This may all hopefully dissipate, but we can never allow another embarrassing event like this to happen again. The death of ambassador Stevens and his staff should never have happened.

The press of course attacks Mitt Romney before they attack the terrorists who killed American citizens. The tape that proves their collusion before Romney gave his statement to try and get him to contradict himself is just another example of their desperation.

But, not to be disrupted, as our embassies were under siege, Barrack Hussein had plenty of time to fly to Nevada for a much needed fundraiser.

The only question today should be is, if you’re not an ally and you’re not an enemy, what are you?

Pathetic is the only way to describe our incompetent Imposter in Chief.

More the case of unchecked procreation in these 2nd and 3rd world Muslim countries since the end of WWII. All it has done is produce two generations now of illiterate, unemployed fanatic religious males who have nothing else to do in life but cause trouble and take it out on the rest of the world, especially civilized nations - who send them billions in financial aid and buy their damned oil. The best way for industrialized countries to counter this is to reduce oil consumption that funds the Saudi and Al Qaeda-Taliban human garbage. That and to put a lot of birth control in their water systems.

Isn't this just great. Our embassies have been attacked. We have had citizens killed and an internationally recognized piece of soverign US territiory has been defaced. And what do I see pasted all over the blogosphere? Trolls using this to push their agenda for either party. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!! To use their deaths as an attempt to persuade people your candidate is the right one to elect makes you scum of the Earth in my book. If any of you political pinheads had any heart(or brains), you would offer condolences to their families for their loss, as I offer those condolences now. They paid the ultimate price for their devotion to our country. They are heroes and we will miss them. To use this to further your political agenda makes you worse than those who killed them IMHO. At least the militants seem to be unified in their contempt of western laws. It is really a shame that Americans have become so desensitized as to forget the ones who suffered to try to score political points. You people are so low, you need a firehouse ladder truck to scratch a snake's stomach.

This is what happens when you show weakness to our enemies in the ME. Apologies are a sign of weakness in the Arab world. Recent history is resplendent with examples of this. The reason this is happening is either due to the size of the ego of the narcissist occupying the White House in thinking that since he's the President the rest of the world loves America or it's his total incompetence and ineptitude. Who doesn't beef up security at embassies around the world, and especially in the ME where the Muslim Brotherhood is extending their influence, on the anniversary of 9/11? I thought this was a given. This guy is starting to make Jimmy Carter look like a good President.

Obama killed bin laden... Hmmm I thought the US seals did it... Could have sworn obama was in a nice room with about 6 other people just watching it...

What type of gun did obama use?

That's the double standard.

Ya'll want to blame the potus for the actions of enraged fundamentalists over an offensive movie made by a zionist; yet won't give any credit to the potus for the bin Laden raid.

I think this film is being used as a catalyst to get a good turnout, but I have a hunch that the attacks were planned for some time.

I support the filmmaker's right to create bigoted movies; but I do not support what he said, nor do I support the irresponsible choice he made. The fact that innocent people are dead over the petty religious disputes of bigoted fundamentalists stands as a testament to the futility of religious hatred. The attackers need to be hunted down and brought to justice, and the filmmaker should take this as a moment to reflect on his prejudice. There is no excuse for violence over a stupid movie, but a rational person would recognize when they are not dealing with rational people.

The Libyan gov't as well as the majority of Libyans have come out and said that although they think the US gov't "should have done something" about the movie; that they do not condone the violent reaction to it.

This indicates that the Libyan people may not really understand the concept of Free Speech in the United States. It does not make them stupid. In fact, it is kind of sad. It should be stressed now more than ever that religious tolerance goes both ways, and that with liberty comes the responsibility of every citizen to have thick skin.

What is with the two destroyers off the Libyian coast if the the people there are friendly towords the USA, and the murders were carried out by a couple terrorists?. Hmmmm seems obama is prepared to tke military action to protect the new Libyian Gov. should there be an attempt to overthrow it by the terrorists. Why would they feel the need to "clearly express" something they don't believe?

I just saw Zbigniew Brzezinski on Morning Joe making the case for restricting speech that is hateful and inflammatory to Muslims. I have the same contempt for this Jones fellow as I do for the Westboro types, but we don't censor speech just because some will find it offensive. If we allow censorship on that basis, then all freedom of speech is doomed, for any group could claim they were 'offended to violence' by anything and everything.

Somebody needs to come up with a Muslim equivalent to "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me", an easy lesson which must be learned throughout the Muslim world one way or another if we are to continue to have personal interaction. If they prefer isolation, that's fine with me.

Well this episode has really shown Obama to be an amateur in regards to Foreign policy.

1.) Despite many warnings no extra security was ordered for any of the embassy's.

2.) The length of time he has taken to say anything is just pathetic, Obama actually made time to attack Romney before he condemned these attacks.

3.) He told Israel he would not have time to meet with them because his schedule was to busy. He does have time to go on the David Letterman show. (Simply avoid any hard questions and topics for a few more months Obama, the media will not hold you accountable.)

4.) His policy of letting the Iran uprising get no support has made Iran even more dangerous. He scrapped the missile shield to try and get support from Russia on Iran and so far he has received NOTHING but opposition.

5.) His Arab spring replaced a government that was an ally with the Muslim Brotherhood who have killed Christians, made threats against Israel, and are now as he says, "not an ally or an enemy".

6.) He has yet to take a stance on the attacks. Is he going to issue any warnings? Embassy is considered American ground and they are attacking, this is an act of war against the United States and we get no real response or leadership from Obama. I'm not saying going to war with anyone over this, but a strong response is needed and was needed yesterday!

7.) Obama and the liberals talked about how we were hated in the world because of Bush and that Obama was going to talk to everyone instead of being a "cowboy". Well. polls show we are still hated just as much in the world, yet now none of these countries are afraid that some American Cowboy will kick their ass so they have no fear attacking us and making threats against our nation and people. The Obama apology tour that took place in 2009 showed he is weak and not prepared for the big stage, these countries are taking advantage of his amateur leadership and weakness.

8.) Obama is in Colorado today because the campaignis what is important to him, Screw the attacks, screw Israel, and don't even bother to mention Chicago education is a mess with teachers walking out on students. Chicago is his home town and he doesn't even mention the problem. AMATEUR.

Change 2012 = Romney / Ryan = Real leadership. Dealing with the problems and telling David Letterman to shove it.

But as a pragmatist - what might be the solution?

Personally, I take the longview of cultural influence. And I was hopeful that a truly democratic process, even in a majority Islamic country that votes for theocratic regimes; that Western concepts such as secularism would slowly take root.

That may have been putting the cart before the horse, though. Because here in the US we were founded upon Enlightenment principles by secularists and Deists who strongly believed in the separation of Church and State as a necessity.... and our Founders often had to argue their point to the people; and stand fast upon it. But in these recently liberated countries what you see is a foundation being built on theocratic principle, which is antithema to Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Religion.

Time for the US to grow a set and act. The first over an embassy wall should be shot by uniformed United States Marines. Then fire on the any others coming over. That will stop it. Good morning everyone.

Folks, I think you are all missing the point here. This "amateurish" three hour film regarding the Prophet Mohammed is a hate crime under US Law. It was, according to the producer, made to point out that, in his words, "Islam is a cancer." That meets the definition of religious intolerance and a hate crime.

That's the first point I want to make. This guy needs to be rounded up by the FBI and we need to find out who actually paid for this film and they ALL need to be prosecuted.

Number two, what was the real point of the alleged film? It's never been seen in any theater (despite the producer's claims) and nothing but the clips on YouTube have ever been seen. Is there ACTUALLY a film? Or was this all just a stunt to inflame the Middle East in time for the election?

Let's look at the facts.

1. No one has ever seen the movie. Attempts to "stream" the movie failed.

2. The clips were put up on YouTube in July and got no reaction, so the "producer" dubbed the movie in "Egyptian Farsi"...convenient...and that's when the trouble began.

3. The producer and everyone connected with the film are in hiding and reportedly made the movie under false names.

I don't know about you but I"m starting to smell peanuts and pachyderm poop.

It's possible this is the most elaborate "swift boating" we've ever seen. A phony "movie" (it doesn't exist, only the clips were ever filmed) made with the sole intent to insult and inflame the middle east during a Presidential election.

Get ready folks. This one is going to go places none of you ever dreamed it could go.

Well since you only read the lame stream media you might have missed.....

September 10, al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahri made direct threats against Americans in Libya to avenge the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi, a high-ranking al-Qaeda official taken out by an American drone attack last June.

Israeli sources have revealed that Egypt's General Intelligence warned jihadists were planning attacks on U.S. and Israeli embassies as early as a week before they occurred on the anniversary of Al Qaeda's 9/11 terror attacks.

On June 11, a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at Sir Dominic Asquith, the British ambassador, as he drove through the city. He was unscathed, but two of his bodyguards were injured. Britain responded by closing its diplomatic office in Benghazi and withdrawing all UK staff. Five days earlier, unknown assailants had thrown an improvised explosive device at the gates of the US consulate in the middle of the night, causing no injuries.

If a person refuses to even consider how things could be done better and put some thought into their opinion; it's pretty much worth jack squat.

What is your answer? Would you do exactly what Obama is doing?\

I'm sorry but the lack of effective counteraction when an American Embassy and it's personnel are attacked is the direct result of being political. They , I believe, should have shot to kill anyone who stepped on American soil with intent to do harm as a matter of self defense.

Stop depending on in country contractors to provide security (a Bush Admin. decision.)and station our Marines INSIDE the embassies with the firepower they need to protect the lives of all within.

Agreed. Your opinion was also confirmed by an Iranian friend in the US since the 70s. He said many times that some countries are better off with dictators, as bad as they can be, than with democracy because they just are not ready for it. Tribal and religious grudges, hatred, continue to be held and acted on. That comes from someone from the middle east that has enjoyed the freedoms of this country and appreciates them.

The problem that is as almost as big as their ignorance is that they have too much time on their hands. We should be going after the Imams that are stoking this violence, they have not been mentioned once. They are the ones that call their people to riot. The militant extremist use this as cover to attack, they work in unison, I would put the Imams on notice for instigating these trivial things into a full scale riot. Even though they did not do the dirty work directly their hands are just as bloody, and should be dealt with accordingly.

These are acts of war. Period.

Yes, Kevin, the makers of this movie appear to have succeeded beyond their wildest dream. A US Ambassador and three embassy security people have died. There are riots in Benghazi, Cairo and Yemen and probably more to follow. Mitt Romney jumped in with both feet.

And look at the comments above. A totally effective misdirection away from the fact that Romney's campaign is dying on the vine. I'm sure that was never the intent but if Mitt had just had the good sense to take a step back, he'd be in the cat-bird seat. Thank goodness he jumped the gun.

But that's not the point. Look at the headlines, look at the foolish, intolerant and misinformed HATE being tossed about on this message board.

The bad guys win again because they tapped into the inner xenophobia and distrust of our BADLY polarized electorate.

C'mon folks, wake up. YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED. Shut up and wait for the investigation. Don't pull another Romney.

When the truth about this incident finally comes out Romney probably won't even get the GOP base vote he is doesn't back off and stop putting his foot in his mouth.

Temper, temper. Do I think Romney's criticism after the attacks may have caused the attacks? Is this a real question? No I don't, because that makes no sense at all.

Romney's criticism of Obama is fanning the flames of this uprising.

Wow guys, this is so silly it doesn't make any sense.

So let me guess was it ok for....

Kerry devoted almost his entire 27-minute address to a critique of Bush. On a day when seven U.S. servicemen were killed in a suicide bombing attack in Iraq, Kerry termed the war in Iraq "catastrophic." Still later, he referred to it in a statement as "a quagmire," a word often applied to the U.S. conflict in Vietnam. He also blasted the president's record on job creation, health care, energy independence and education.

or

On a July 2008 appearance on CNN, then-Senator Obama used the death of U.S. troops in Afghanistan as talking point to ding John McCain and President Bush for their support of the Iraq War.

This is on you Mr. Obama. You can't pass the buck on this.

With your apologizing and butt kissing, trying to convince us that Islam is a religion of peace, that America is so pro-Muslim while kicking Christianity and Judaism in the teeth, giving these savages material, diplomatic and military support as they overthrow country after country. You have empowered them and made them relevant and now they are behaving the only way they know how.

Maybe everyone in the madrasa you attended were happy and got along, but this is the real world and it's full of snakes and reptiles that will take everything you give them and then turn on you.

How many more Americans have to die because of your hippy, community organizer attitude towards the world. You are in over your head. You took the lid off of the can of worms and now you can't get it back on. Being nice and apologizing for America being great, won't work anymore. Your friends in the Muslim Brotherhood are showing you the true nature of Islam.

It is unbelievable how big a mess one person can make in just 3 1/2 years. For the sake of this country, I pray you are defeated in November. We will not survive 4 more years of this progressive BS.

And how would you have done that? Put US boots on the ground against a popular uprising and expect it not to be a disaster? Should we have provided the weapons and ammunition to shoot unarmed demonstrators?

The region was already destablized and headed into full-blown rebellion. 3 options:

1) To stay out of it would have ensured a long, drawn out conflict which would have had major negative impacts on oil markets during a period of economic turmoil.

2) Enter on the side of the dictators who were already killing civilians and commiting acts of brutality; only furthering the narrative that the US speaks out of both sides of its mouth in the Middle East; thus undermining our operations there.

3) Assist the rebels to expedite the end of the conflict and open up roads for economic influence. Although there are definite legitimate misgiving about doing so; it seems to be the most pragmatic approach out of the other options.

JK; you and I both know we are going to have to go back a lot further than Iraq and 9/11/2001 if we want to find the root of all religions problems.

What invading Iraq did was show terrorists (and all sides have terrorists) how easy it is to overthrow a government in the Middle East. 9/11/2001 didn't show that the USA could be toppled. Personally I don't think the debate over who was behind 9/11/2001 is over with - why wasn't bin Laden taken alive, did he even put up a fight? Old bin boy knew too much, no way was he going to be allowed to have his day in court.

Do you guys remember the time when Egypt used to be an ally of the United States?

So how is Obama's outreach to the Muslim world working out?

.

Let's see, Egypt used to be an ally, until Obama told Mubarak to "GET OUT NOW" instead of making sure that there will be a safe transition so that enemies of the United States like say the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD wouldn't take over the country...

Burning down American embassies in Egypt, Libya, Yemen, and SYRIA, don't forget Syria! We shouldn't forget that Obama sent an ambassador to Syria only to have to pull him out of there again after Assad the great "reformer" killed tens of thousands of his own people and after repeated attacks against the embassy and the ambassador there!

Thank God at least the ambassador to Syria got out of there in time!!!

And what about Pakistan, are they still America's allies?

And how about Obama's outreach to Iran? How has that being working out?

But The Muslim Brotherhood are the starkest example of how naive and amateurish this president's foreign policy has been. Remember how Director of National Intelligence Clapper told us how the Muslim Brotherhood are a bunch of "mostly secular" guys!

Those Muslim Brotherhood guys sure are just a bunch of friendly "mostly secular" guys just like Obama's lackey Clapper told Congress! Yeah, they just shut down newspapers that don't suit them, replaced all the editors in all the papers in Egypt, arrested protesters who were "offensive" to the Muslim Brotherhood, and let an angry mob storm the U.S embassy! Women in Egypt have basically gone into hiding since those secular guys took power! And Christians too!

Real liberal guys these Muslim Brotherhood. I can see right away why Obama has become such close friends with them, giving them 4 Billion Dollars debt reduction, and 1.5 Billion in military aid...

Is that your answer? What's your answer? How would you respond to idiots who kill over a You Tube video?

What can be done is to demand that they be brought to justice, and assist in whatever way possible. It would be a diplomatic victory if we allow Libya to handle it, though. It would be a sign of commitment from the newly elected governments to keeping a lid on radicalism and religious violence.

If they cannot / will not bring the perpetrators to justice - we apply more pressure and/or do it ourselves. But I feel it is absoutely essential to foreign relations to try and give them a chance to do it themselves.

Regarding the video; we should make it plain that we are a nation which does not condone hatred and bigotry; but we make no apology for our core value of Freedom of Speech. That with liberty must come thick skin; and that although we do not have to agree with what people say, we support their right to say it.

The social experiment that was Barack Obama's election and presidency is over. Way over. Obama has been exposed for what he is: an overhyped, self-invented candidate with no real-world experience who has been frozen into inaction by the enormity of the office he holds. The Obama of 2012 has nothing positive to run on. Nothing. And guess what? He, more than anyone else in his White House or campaign, knows it. He knows that he has run out of all options but one: Go negative on Mitt Romney 24/7.

His fellow Democrats are ducking appearances with him, so much so that the Democrats had a hard time filling the dais for its national convention.

Barack Obama now stands on his own — an unqualified man who did not have the skills to grow into the presidency.

STOP!!!!

Your logic is confusing the Liberal bobble heads. Then you have the gall to really scramble their little Liberal minds with facts. You know that simply twists their panties in a bunch as they scramble for a typical rant of hate, anger, rage, vitriol and racism.

You should know better. Here on PMSNBC,,,errrrr, I mean NBCNews.com, only pre-approved directives from Barrack Hussein, the DNC or Debbie Whatsername Slutz are allowed to be spewed. Thus the bobble heads can just nod in harmonious agreement.

They all sit on these threads with what they think are cute or clever names and avatars and support the absolute incompetence of Barrack Hussein. If you dare disagree they will collapse your post like they did mine. This is the typical defense mechanism of the Liberal/Progressive cabal, "out of sight, out of mind".

Of course then they ask you and me what we would do? Funny how they claim to be so "progressive" or "forward" yet all their posts revolve around everything from the past. None of their posts offer any original ideas or even an explanation of the convoluted Barrack Hussein nonsense policies. When we do post a lengthy outline of possible things to do they simply tuck their tails and hide.

We are burdened with an incompetent president who explains our relationship with Egypt as "not an ally and not an enemy". What the hell does that even mean? Morsi is a Muslim Brotherhood "Truther" and Barrack Hussein legitimizes him by dithering, as usual. Of course he refuses to meet with Netanyahu because he knows he will be embarrassed again like he was last year when he was schooled about the process of diplomacy and what an ally truly is. Of course Barrack Hussein patronizes China during the DNC convention by calling THEM an ally as they continue to manipulate their currency to cripple our trade policies. He doesn’t have time in his busy schedule to meet with Netanyahu but he has time to be on the Letterman show. The poor liberals don't even understand.

Today the unemployment claim numbers came back up AGAIN at 382,000 (370,000 were expected) but of course the Liberals praise the creation of 4.5 million low-paying/low-no benefit jobs and this is the extent of his “economic” policy.

Most of the Libbies posts have deteriorated into obscenity laced rants as they see what a horrible mistake they made in 2008. We all know many of them voted for Barrack Hussein to pretend they're not racists. The only thing we can hope for is that many of them will come to their senses and not repeat their mistakes and prove their ignorance.

That's a NO-NO, what a double-standard!

I think they didn't want to cause violence for the sake of a joke. It's an unfortunate choice, but the mature and pragmatic one.

Personally, I feel all religions are plenty deserving of ridicule - especially fundamentalist Islam.

Idealism is important, but sometimes turning up the volume to 11 to drown out your neighbor protesting about loud music isn't the solution to a much much larger problem.

It's a tough position to be in... do you go the route of ideologue and put out as much offensive stuff as possible to make some sort of ambiguous point? Doesn't seem to really make the case for the virtues of Free Speech in a newly formed democracy, now, does it? But what..... what's to be done....

4.5 million low-paying/low-no benefit jobs

Out of a number of absolutely hypocritical points - I will just choose this one to respond to... telling by your rant you do not come across as very reasonable; having suffered for a long time from acute ODS.

But, regarding this number: I do recall the "Texas Miracle" being touted as a huge victory not long ago.... remember that? Remember what kind of jobs those were? It didn't matter then to ya'll... so why all of a sudden does it matter now? - -- oh yeah, ODS.

Put US boots on the ground against a popular uprising and expect it not to be a disaster? Should we have provided the weapons and ammunition to shoot unarmed demonstrators?

Who gave the Marines the order to stand down when being overrun by a hostile force on American soil???

It was actually mostly local security forces.

Outsourcing to save money has its pitfalls.

And the rest of your post is just silly: not even Rush or Beck are dumb enough to play that "he's a mooslim!" line.

If this was happening under Bush during his reelection hwo do you think the media would be covering it?

I really don't care that much. It seems some folks have a bone to pick with the media and take it out on the potus. Or a bone to pick with Al Sharpton and take it out on the potus. Or a bone to pick with Muslim extremists and take it out on the potus.

It's not unlike how these radicals had a bone to pick with an Israeli filmmaker and took it out on US embassies.

Remember folks, we don't want our enemies to like us but fear us!
If you check out Obama's FB page comments, you will find mostly Muslims proclaiming their love for their brother Obama!! Scary!! Written in Islamic and everything, Muslim prayers and all.

Obama's FB status 2 days ago "don't forget to register to vote" ...yet, not a word about 9/11, too worried he's gonna offend his Muslim brotherhood i guess!!

That's messed up! Obama's gotta go!

It's not changing the subject. If someone wants to criticize the President, fine.. First Amendment/Freedom of Speech is every American's right. However, I always find that if you are going to criticize someone, it's best to offer a solution as well. Especially (not you/Romney) is running for President as well.

Hours?? Oh I see... (Sarcasm).. Dear President Obama, please make sure you come on national television 5 minutes after something like this happens. Please do not think level headed and consult your top advisors, our allies, or anyone else involved when this happens. Please just send in our military forces into a soverign nation, and then worry about what happens when it's done. Also, please just stay in the WH 24/7, and monitor this situation. Ignore anything else that is going on in this country, and you are NOT allowed to campaign for re-election. Only the GOP can do that when they are in the WH.

President Obama has made announcements on this and I am sure more are going to come.

I just don't understand - Islam is such a PEACEFUL religion!! (Roll Eyes.................)

I don't understand a peaceful 'christian' religion, wants to force their beliefs down the throats of the American people... and why the GOP embraces this and goes against amendment #1... but hey, I know how to deal with that... Vote Democrat.

OH yes....you checked Obama's "facebook" Page and found that its mostly muslims who love him. LOL, Is this why Obama has a low approval rating in the islamic world? Oh and all muslims must be terrorists right? Dear President Obama, please instill fear in the world like Dubya did. Please make sure the world feels more threatened by the United States (like Dubya did), and lower our approval rating across the globe. Make sure you threaten to use our military at all times, and do not worry if you borrow more money from China to pay for it.

I wish Muslim leaders would clearly express the fact that committing violence simply because you feel offended is wrong, and that Muslims should treat religious insults from 'infidels' as being totally meaningless.

And that's exactly what they're saying, they just want other Muslims to ignore it:

"We urge that this ignorant attempt to provoke the religious feelings of Muslims in the Arabic-speaking world be ignored and that its extremist producers not be given the cheap publicity they so desperately seek. Those who created this trashy film do not represent the people of America or the Christian faith. The only proper response to intentional provocations such as this film is to redouble efforts to promote mutual understanding between faiths and to marginalize extremists of all stripes.”

I agree with them 100%. It was a trashy attempt at cheap publicity, no doubt conjured by a very juvenile mind. the best thing we can do is just ignore it and go on with our lives.

So you'd rather just continue to post empty rhetoric and half-baked complaints? Is it too much to ask that a person substantiate their position on a subject? I'm not even asking for a 'point by point' - I'm simply asking for a logic and reason based argument as to why "keeping Mubarak in power" would have been a better option given the circumstances I listed above; and a short explanation on how it may have been done while preserving the integrity of our diplomatic/military operations in the region.

Shuklack

so why all of a sudden does it matter now?

Hmmmm, well let's see. The Texas Miracle has been going on for decades. Yes, Perry took credit, just as any politician would. There's nothing wrong with taking credit for continuing the strongest state growth because of low taxes, more business friendly regulations and exploiting one of our strongest industries, which is expanding throughout our nation, energy.

I won't belabor you with the benefits of these accomplishments because I'm sure you won't understand them.

Suffice it to say, the jobs created in Texas are a result of Texas policies that are unique and successful. Oh, and they haven't cost us an astronomical amount of money. You see my good friend Suckaluck, the $863 BILLION $timulu$ has indeed "created or saved" 4.5 low-paying/low-no benefit jobs. The horror is that it is costing us $200,000 to create EACH JOB!!!!

Spending $200,000 to create, at best, jobs that pay $25,000 can only be described as an abysmal failure. But Liberals think government can just keep borrowing and printing more and more money to support this foolishness. That's why we, who do understand, will take back control in November and begin the long difficult road of making Americans proud of success rather than mediocrity like Barrack Hussein desires.

THIS is why it all of a sudden matters now. I understand you Libbies have no concept of return on investment because you rely solely on government handouts. But those of us who DO work and who ARE successful and have to fund your reliance on said handouts don't quite see how this is a good investment.

Any more questions Spanky?

The issue is that the US constantly gets pushed back on their heels and making excuses for the terrorists and protesters. So we continue to look weak and are perceived weak and thus more and more small groups feel empowered to rise up and burn our flag etc. We are not seeing demonstrators here in the US burning others flag or burning effigies of those that matter in the Muslim world. So the public hate is one sided, but for many Americans the hard feelings are simmering below the surface.

The US is putting together a billion dollar plus aid package to Egypt and we have forgiven their prior loans. I am unaware that we have money to throw around and give to those that hate us. When Hillary arrived in Egypt a few weeks ago tomatoes were thrown at her. When she asked to meet with the winners after the election she was denied. Egypt held Americans after the fall of Mubarak. I still don't know if they have been released.

The plain truth is that the US is the country doing all the fighting, bearing the financial burden, and constantly the one hated. Even when we give money they still hate us and argue how that money should be spent.

Our foreign policy is all wrong. The filmaker is just a crappy filmaker and this administration should make it clear to the Muslim world that people here have the freedom to express their opinions no matter how ridiculous. Nobody cared a bit about the film until these senseless deaths.

Romney was right to talk about what freedom of speech means to Americans and how we want to protect their rights even when the POV is hurtful. The democrat party had a change to their platform that required 3 vote calls that was extremely disturbing because they booed God 3 times and actually the boos were louder and the platform should have kept the language which was to remove God from their platform. I hate how that party has changed and their priorities, but that is their right to remove God. Can you imagine removing Muhammand? Do you think that would be tolerated? That is the difference between the American system of freedom and the system seen in the Muslim world that would never permit such a vote.

Enough is enough already! - We really need to start increasing the safe harvesting, production and distribution of our own natural energy here in the USA, rather than paying for fuel from countries where they hate us. Let’s keep that money and those jobs here in the US.

Drilling here at home might not be the whole answer, but it's certainly a good place to start.

They expect us to respect their religion after this? And what does Hillary say, Obama's henchman? She condemns the movie basically saying she agrees with the muslims. The problem is violence is never an answer when you disagree with someone else's free speech. If they're the religion of peace, then pray for the film makers...and don't watch the film.

So just what is Obama going to do about this? He can't throw more money at the situation because as you know, our country is broke. This is what happens when you try to buy peace through billions of dollars in aid. No matter how much you try, these people do not want peace, they want dominance.

This is what Israel has been going through for years. Imagine countries like this on every side of you, who want to kill you simply because you are jewish. It does not matter if you offend their prophet or not. Add to that Obama cutting Israel defense spending by two-thirds while at the same time giving money to these muslim countries.

Obama is a muslim, no doubt about that. But he is probably more liberal than any of these muslim nations and he has failed to realize that they didn't get the chance to grow up with American ideals.

When you fund uneducated people, they become mobs. I think this is what you really see in the country once the aid runs out. The same thing happens in Egypt, Pakistan, Yemen, etc. They are using the US.

What does this have to do with Mitt Romney? Nothing..... This problem is entirely Obama's when he funded these nations.

Oh and you're right.. maybe Obama should follow ineptness of appeasement from previous president or better yet, sell weapons to Iran to pay for the contras in Nicaragua, oh wait, that was Reagan.

It'sabout Time: Your lack of knowledge about history is really shocking. The only reason Reagan "sold" weapons to Iran was to release the hostages that were stuck inside the embassy when the muslims stormed it. ( and now we don't call them terrorists, but muslim terrorists),

Obama doesn't have hostages at stake.

Itsabouttime: Are you REALLY going to compare Islam to Christians? Do you REALLY want to go there? What beliefs down YOUR throat? And do Christians threaten to CUT your throat?

Christians have beliefs. but we never tell you what YOU must believe. But don't try to tell us what WE must believe. Gay relationships for example: Christians NEVER tell you that you can't love and have sex with someone from the same sex. We simply tell you we don't AGREE with that morally but we never tell you what you can't do. But do we call you infadels and threaten to cut your head off if you have sex with a person of the same sex? I'll help you with your answer - No. The answer is No. Ironically Islam DOES believe you should be executed for having sex with a same sex partner. Under Sharia Law you can be executed and in a few Islamic countries they actually execute people for this (Iran, Sudan, Uganda, etc.). How about adultery?

Yes Christians believe it is immoral - but we don't care what YOU do. We don't threaten you for having extra-marital sex..........but Islam does. Under Sharia Law in Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. they execute people by stoning for adultery.

So the next time you have a thought - don't. You have to have the ability to put together a coherent and logical comment in this thread and obviously you have difficulty with that.

To compare Islam and what we are seeing to Christianity confirms your inability to think logically and rationally. I suggest the next time you want to compare Christianity to the brutality of Islam you take a step back and realize what a fool you will look like to make that comparison.

Massive looting has left the American Embassy empty with the exception of toilet paper. Mohammed Al Skidmarkei was quoted as saying "What would we want with toilet paper?"

Mel Gibson has reportedly been in talks with famed Pakistani director/producer Hymen Al Intactsee to make a sequel to the film entitled "Guilt of the Jew Bastard Pig F*ckers" which they claim will correct a few of the obvious factual errors made in the film "Innocence of the Muslims" which tells the tale of some guy named mohammed who liked to rape little boys long before the Catholic infidels.

President Obama has vowed to apologize for Americans using their freedom of speech. Mitt Romney has promised that if strongarming his way into the presidency works out for him, he will make sure to convert all muslims to the true faith of Mormonism.

Canada meanwhile has pledged to keep flying under the radar and maintain its stable and tranquil lifestyle.

Yes, I am going to go there. http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/church-state/decisions.html Here is just a 'few' court cases on the seperation of church and state. There are MANY Christians (not all) that are attempting to enforce their beliefs on the American people, and the GOP gains a LOT of support from there. Why else would the GOP submit 'bills' on religion in the 112 session of Congress. Why yesterday alone, the GOP submitted a BILL to limit equal marriage on a military base. They aren't doing this because of DOMA.. they are doing it based on their right christian backers. How many christian lobbyists are out there trying to "BUY" congress.

Now I do agree... this forcing of christian beliefs is non violent, does not include terrorism, or extreme measures as compared to islamic nations.

It doesn't do any good to say "we tried to tell them to ignore it" when rioters in Egypt are at this moment demanding we change our laws to accommodate their views. People are getting killed. The problem we have with Obama is not personal. We want a leader. A leader is one that makes a decision and stands by it. It may be right or it may be wrong but at least a decision was made. I didn't agree with Clinton a lot in the 90's but at least he MADE a decision and stood by it.

Obama couldn't make a decision if his life depended on it and would throw Michelle under the bus if it meant he would get reelected. He can't make a decision without a poll or someone else telling him what to do. Against gay marriage then when the polls showed otherwise for gay marriage. The Cambridge issue with professor Gates and the police acted "stupidly" - then a cold beer will fix that. Trayvon Martin. ObamaCare. He shouldn't raise taxes during a recession and a year later wants to raise taxes in a recession. What to do in Libya when it all went down last Spring. Obama didn't know what to do and waited for other countries to react first to determine what he should do. And the list goes on and on.

Obama is as useless as a fishing pole in the desert. I know you liberals hated George Bush, and I admit there were things he did I didn't agree with either, but there was NEVER a doubt where he stood or what his opinion was. THAT is the sign of a great leader. Clinton had that. So did Reagan. But the last two presidents we had that were indecisive and could not make a decision were absolute failure: Jimmy Carter and now Barack Hussein Obama.

This country needs a leader. Someone who can make a decision. Obama has shown over the last 4 years he can't make a decision without a poll or someone else telling him what that decision should be. What a useless incompetent pathetic and spineless president we have in Obama.

I guess you must accept the bad with the good with any ideology. So who's to blame? Those that deceived people and created these hate messages... that they KNEW might spark unrest and fuel latent fears? Or those that then took these messages and enflamed their followers with exaggerations and lies... that they KNEW would spark unfounded hate and conflict? Or those that then translated it all into violence?

No, I wasn't talking about Republicans. I was talking about the stupid preacher, the videographer, the extremist faction leaders, and their blind followers... kinda hard to tell the difference though.

You ALL miss the point...this was the anniversary of 9/11...the timing of the film's release and posting on the "net" is not mute...demonstrators, fired up by Imams(who are almighty dictators/directors of the Muslim religion) take action. Most of these "demonstrations" were already in some stage of planning and just waiting for a "trigger"...Mr. Bascile provided that trigger with his atrocious farce he calls a "film".

Mr. Bascile's film has triggered violent reactions that resulted in the deaths of American citizens who were employed to be official representatives of our country overseas. Although he has the "right" to freedom of speech, he also has to accept responsibility for the results of applying that "right". This "expression" of his is not freedom of speech, but is tantamount to yelling "FIRE" in a crowded theatre that results in the deaths of individuals. He should be arrested by US Marshals and charged as an "accessory-to-murder".

The responsible parties in Libya should rightfully be pursued, discovered and brought to justice by the Libyans, with or without our help. Let the Libyans demonstrate their resolve to "HONOR" the internationally accepted commitment to support the sovereignty of a nations embassy on their soil.

It's about Time: Here is the timeline......Time to study your history. It was part of the deal to release the hostages later.... if you look at 1985.... Aug. 30 you will see.

  • 1981

    • Jan 20 -- Hostages held in the American Embassy in Iran released. Reagan takes oath of office.
  • 1985

    • July -- An Israeli official suggests a deal with Iran to then-national security adviser Robert McFarlane, saying the transfer of arms could lead to release of Americans being held hostage in Lebanon. McFarlane brings the message to President Reagan.
    • Aug. 30 -- The first planeload of U.S.-made weapons is sent from Israel to Tehran. Two weeks later the first American Hostage is released.
    • Dec. 5 -- Reagan secretly signs a presidential 'finding,' or authorization, describing the operation with Iran as an arms-for-hostages deal.

The choice wasn't yours to make. After thirty years of Mubarak's rule, the people of Egypt had had enough. Can you imagine this country keeping the same president for thirty years? Are Americans the only people in the world who are entitled to choose their leaders?

There are so many opinions from so many people who know next to nothing about the Middle East, its history or its people. Romney is one of them.

Some of you cowboys need to take a chill pill and go back to watching football.

It blows my mind that liberals are trying to shift the blame to someone else, but then again this is what your fearless leader Barry does. Why cant you just admit that running around and saying that your sorry to a group of complete nut jobs doesnt work? Obama is a joke and you people still support him. Now you want to say that Romney is fanning the flames? Romney is saying exactly what Obama should be doing. Then Barry blows off a meeting with Israel because he has campaign stops? But Barry has time to meet with the Muslim Brotherhood? How do you liberals not see a problem with this?

Hey to LMarcT: Ultimate blame rests on the ones who commit crimes for lack of self control, but I fully agree that there is incitement out the wazoo coming from every which direction. If the real leaders of the Muslim world would simply decree as I request then the violent behavior would diminish, but you're right in noting that many people seem interested in stoking violence and hatred.

skip Nicholson, Oklahoma City The statement that Islam is a cancer qualifies in your mine as a hate crime and you think the people behind this film should be the ones to be arrested and put in jail? I am constantly amazed at the absolute ignorance some of you posters display ie: make sure no one speaks something that is not politically correct since it might hurt someones feelings (even if it is true). The film maker had every right to his opinion and the rioters did not have a right to kill anyone because their feelings got hurt.

would it be wrong to let them gather at our embassies? Which at that point we hit the red button that blows our own building to pieces....im ok with that..we can rebuild....but hey wouldn't that be a sweet message...KAAA BOOM we didn't like that embassy anyways. I mean really they are destroying them anyways, why cant we do it first, just split seconds after most have scaled the walls and approach the inside...let them come...they will round themselves up.

Islam is a Terrorist Organization that hides behind a Religion. The weapons that the U.S. and other Nations provided to the Arab Spring are now being used against the U.S. and its interest in the region. Muslims around the World kill those that are of another belief and support the Islamic Terrorist Groups all in the name of the Dog Mohammad. Islam is not a peaceful religion, it and its followers are Terrorist and should be treated like Terrorist. O'Bama, wake up and at least "act" like a President. No doubt that the O'Bama has authorized the CIA to "indirectly" give assistance to the Syrian Rebels (Activist & Terrorist that started the Civil War in Syria) only to have that same assistance be used to attack Americans and American interest in the region. HEY O"BAMA, STAY OUT OF THE INTERNAL CIVIL WARS IN THE WORLD!! One of the Islamic beliefs is once a Muslim always a Muslim and O'Bama spent his formative years being schooled in Islam. It's Terrorist fighting terrorist, one Religion fighting another as they have done for hundreds and hundreds of years. Let them fight to the death and give assistance to the victor for a price.

So you think we should send troops as the "terrorists" dream of? or maybe he should order up some nukes like your fellow hawks have suggested? How many babies are you willing to kill in order to catch the bastards who did this? Who benefits from Arab violence? Arabs don't benefit, they got two wars and hundreds of thousands dead. america didnt benefit, we spent our grand children's future on bombs and such. The right wing did benefit a little by getting guys like you to vote for them and making money on arms deals. Isreal got more aid. So who is behind these guys who purposely throw gasoline into the mid east fire? I would guess it's the people who benefit and PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO DON'T THINK OR CARE ABOUT HUMANITY. and thats all I have to say about that.

Iran is our biggest Enemy, and should be whip-lashed by the President's tongue, and other World Leaders for the rampant Nuclear Terrorists wanting to "own" the Entire Middle East, and North Africa.

Why has no Leader strongly spoken out about the terror, including Syria (Humanitarian reasons) and loss of lives. Now our Military is once again in danger--Warships sent there, Marines---the US cannot get out of any of these countries--we have been "hooked"; by the barbarians.

That just seems kind of fishy that all of this violence occurs over some movie very few people in the USA even knew existed. What are these people anyway? Hi to Amanda2017567, and I appreciate that there is some restraint being urged by sincere people. However, when I referred to Muslim leaders, they must be leaders whose decree carries weight of law. It doesn't do any good to say "we tried to tell them to ignore it" when rioters in Egypt are at this moment demanding we change our laws to accommodate their views. People are getting killed. We can't tolerate it. If anyone thinks that it makes sense to kill people because some stupid video made by a lunatic half a world away goes viral, well, they meet my definition of crazy.

Restrictions to First amendment rights of free speech stop at obscenity, incitement, and child porn. While I haven't seen either the 13 minute YouTube trailer nor the full 3 hour movie, from what I've heard of it, it's pretty terrible. I'm not sure I really want to, though I may have a look at the trailer this weekend to get a sense of just how offensive it my be when viewed by someone who is not Christian--I'm a witch and at various points in our religious history, practically every other religion in this world has tried to wipe us off the face of this planet; Christians have done the most to wipe us out.

In the meantime, here's what the Muslim community worldwide has been saying:

"This film really is cheap. It's low quality, low rate, and it really should've been ignored," said Dawud Walid with the Council on American Islamic Relations. "It's just a shame that in Libya that there's a small group of violent people who have escalated a situation. We don't like the contents of the film at all, but the last prophet of Islam, Muhammad, taught us that we're supposed to repel evil with righteousness and good behavior," he continued. "Prophet Muhammad would not sanction the wanton violence or the death of any innocent people."

Shaykh Abdul Aziz al-Ashaikh (Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Senior Ulama):

"Hijacking Planes, terrorizing innocent people and shedding blood constitute a form of injustice that can not be tolerated by Islam, which views them as gross crimes and sinful acts."

              Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai, Pakistan:

"It is wrong to kill innocent people. It is also wrong to Praise those who kill innocent people."

Abdullah II, King of Jordan and descendent of the Prophet Muhammad:

"What these people stand for is completely against all the principles that Arab Muslims believe in."

              From CAIR Canada, a Canadian Muslim group;

"Islam respects the sacredness of life, and rejects any express statement or tacit insinuation that Muslims should harm innocent people. Despite our disagreement with certain American policies, we must never abuse the concept of Jihad to target innocent civilians."

"Jihad, which literally means 'struggle,' has an internal, societal and combative dimension. The internal dimension of Jihad encompasses the struggle against the evil inclinations of the self, and the spiritual project to adorn the self with virtues such as justice, mercy, generosity and gentleness. The societal dimension includes struggling against social injustice and creating a communal identity based on charity, respect and equality. Finally, the combative aspect of jihad is only to be used as self-defense against aggression or to fight oppression, and, even then, to be observed with strict limits of conduct that preserves the life of innocents and the sanctity of the environment. Moreover, this latter type of Jihad can only be declared by a legitimate, recognized religious authority."

"Using the concept of Jihad to justify harming the innocent is contrary to the letter and spirit of Islam. We condemn any violence that springs from this misguided interpretation."

From Muqtedar Kahn, Asst Professor of Political Science, Adrian College:

"Militias like the Taliban have allowed their hate for the West to override their obligation to pursue the welfare of their people."

"The culture of hate and killing is tearing away at the moral fabric of the Muslim society. We are more focused on 'the other' and have completely forgotten our duty to Allah."

"Islam is not about defeating Jews or conquering Jerusalem. It is about mercy, about virtue, about sacrifice and about duty. Above all it is the pursuit of moral perfection. Nothing can be further away from moral perfection than the wanton slaughter innocent people."

              Imam Kutty from Jami Mosque:

"Let us make no mistake about it: Today, Muslims have no enemy greater than fanatics in their midst...Let us know that fanaticism is ignorance; it is nothing but sickness and bigotry; let us know that fanaticism is opposed to both scripture and reason...We Muslims therefore condemn these barbaric attacks against innocent people."

"We condemn them unconditionally; we condemn them because it is opposed to reason and revelation. It is contrary to the fundamental principles of Islam which teach the sanctity of life. Make no mistake about it, we Muslims cannot be Muslims unless we affirm the sanctity of life in all forms."

"Let every Muslim know that there is no room in Islam for fanaticism, for hatred, for racism, for terrorizing innocent people, for indiscriminate killing, even in a state of war."

"Let us Muslims shoulder our responsibility in this crisis facing our society by distancing ourselves from all those who have perpetrated such a heinous and dastardly crime. I appeal to every Muslim to cooperate with the authorities in bringing the culprits to justice. Let no Muslim harbor such criminals in their midst; doing so is violating the laws and values that we cherish dearly in our religion.

And here's reaction from the rest of the world:

Western leaders expressed unanimous shock at killings that France's President Francois Hollande called an "odious crime".

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said: "Nothing can justify violence". Italy's Prime Minister Mario Monti praised the Libyan government for speaking out against the violence.

Russia's Foreign Ministry said: "We decisively condemn all attacks on foreign diplomatic representations and their employees as manifestations of terrorism that can have no justification."

At the United Nations, Under-secretary General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman told the Security Council at a briefing: "The United Nations rejects defamation of religion in all forms, but there is no justification for violence such as occurred in Benghazi."

Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Mustafa Abu Shagour joined the condemnation of the killings. "I do condemn the cowardly act of attacking the U.S. consulate and the killing of Mr. Stevens and the other diplomats," he said in a message on Twitter.

"What happened at the U.S. embassy in Cairo is regrettable and rejected by all Egyptian people and cannot be justified, especially if we consider that the people who produced this low film have no relation to the (U.S.) government," Prime Minister Hisham Kandil said, reading out a statement.

"We ask the American government to take a firm position toward this film's producers within the framework of international charters that criminalize acts that stir strife on the basis of race, color or religion."

Even the Vatican has weighed in on it:

The Vatican in Rome said the violence showed the need to respect religions and avoid insulting believers.

"The serious consequences of unjustified offence and provocations against the sensibilities of Muslim believers are once again evident in these days," the Vatican's chief spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi said in a statement.

Lombardi said respect for the beliefs, texts, outstanding figures and symbols of religions was "an essential precondition for the peaceful coexistence of peoples."

Islamists and Christian nut jobs are the same thing, and I wish we could get everyone from those two groups together. Let them fight it out, and leave the rest of us Christians and Muslims in peace.

May the Flying Spagetti Monster make this happen.

                *As USUAL:

                American right-wingers stir the pot and get people killed: the makers of this film were probably paid by the Romney campaign in 2009 to make it and asked to release it before the election, and they would do the rest and all of Terry Jones and Im Bacile's friends are in the right-wing/Republican Tent;

                *As usual: Schitt Romney uses a coordinated terrorist attack and murder of one of our Diplomats overseas to launch another coordinated attack on America from within hoping for political points from the murder and disrespecting the bereaved family, using the death as basis for a sad, ridiculous lie, and ignoring the consequences of his f**king mealy-as*ed mouth, which should be STAPLEd closed;

                *As usual, John McShame chimes in like the mentally damaged, formerly decent, sadly broken by his own allies right-winger that he is and attacks The President's policies with no thought of the consequences to other diplomats overseas but hoping for some political crumbs from his owners in the American Neo-Con movement;

Sounds like all the right-wingers around the world are on the same page: how are they different?

Coordinated? Probably not, but VERY easily predicted by myself and the rest of those outside, watching their ramp-up of hostilities over the last 40 years. They always reset to their default position: Scared, hateful and assaultive. Ho-hum, what's new?

President Barack Obama ordered his administration to do whatever is necessary to protect Americans abroad.

200 Marines in each embassy with orders to shoot to kill anyone coming over the walls is a good place to start.

Here's what American Muslims seem to think of the whole thing:

TheBlaze spoke with Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, author and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy and Manda Zand Ervin, president of Alliance of Iranian Women. Both individuals expressed their dismay at the violent actions taken and called upon politicians and Muslims alike, to step up to prevent such behaviors from unfolding in the future.

Earlier today, TheBlaze also provided in-depth analysis about the film that sparked the Middle Eastern rampages. Despite claims that the movie led to the violence, some officials suspect that the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks was chosen well before the violence unfolded. Regardless, an anti-Muhammad and anti-Islam film called “Innocence of Muslims” — a project that was written and directed by a U.S. real estate developer named Sam Bacile – is being dubbed the catalyst for the attacks.

While Jasser hadn‘t yet watched the film’s 13-minute trailer when we interviewed him, Ervin finished viewing it just moments before we spoke. The Muslim-American admitted that it was certainly poking fun at Islam, but she dismissed it as mere comedy. She told TheBlaze that we live in the 21st century and that people need to realize that, with free speech sometimes comes unpleasant commentary.

“The way I looked at it — it was a comedy. It didn’t make any sense and so what,” she said of the movie in question. “I am a Muslim, but I am also an American and I have come to this country because of freedom of speech, freedom of assembly — all the freedoms that the 21st century is providing. Especially in this country.”

Modernity was a theme throughout her commentary, particularly when it came to the violent Middle Eastern response. Ervin lambasted the actions taken oversees and said that it showcases how the West is “failing to bring the Islamic world into the 21st century by catering to the lowest denomination.”

“I call it ‘cultural imperialism’ — that many, especially the left in this country, are catering to the lowest denomination,” she said, going on to claim that liberals don’t expect Muslims to understand free speech, so they end up protecting extremists and allowing the backwardness to continue.

“I think the attitude needs to be changed,” she added, giving her views on how to fix the situation. “Not catering to the worst, but helping and supporting the best — like us, the ones who are saying, ‘My religion is my religion, but I’m living in the 21st century.’”

Security forces had to fight off the protesters with tear gas and warning shots which managed to push them back more than 600 feet to Tahrir Square.

Warning shots” for attacking a U S Embassy on U S soil? that in my opinion should be stopped, they started the attack, defending our own is not something I believe we should do by warning shots, our people die (in Benghazi) and it will cost billions to rebuild what they destroyed.

"I want to assure you we will bring their killers to justice and we want to send us a message all around the world to anyone who wants to do us harm. No act of terror will dim the light and the values that we proudly shine on the rest of the world, and no act of violence will shake the resolve of the United States of America,"

While this sounds good to us here at home, these words have no meaning to those people, they have spent their entire lives being threatened, and so hollow words from some American president thousands of miles away carry no threat.

Muslims chanting "Death to America" outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo

What is truly confusing is why we continue to support these people, some say so we can have a relation with them, but this type of relationship is bad for our health.

While firmly condemning these acts of violence, I do not think hurting religious feelings of others is freedom of speech. Especially, when it is a film produced by enemies of Islam. Abusing freedom of speech in the name of insulting Islam is not freedom of speech. Have you ever heard of muslims burning the Bible, insulting Jesus just to get attention? No, because we respect all prophets and all religious books. Now, I want you to chew on that for a minute. Think again. THIS IS NOT FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Our religion does not allow us to insult our prophet, why would you do it? You are crossing our freedom line.

It would appear that the 'Arab Spring' that Obama supported is leading to an 'American Fall'. While anti-Americanism in the Middle East was common before, it was not as violently prevalent as it is now.

I wonder if Obama's forcing Mubarak out in Egypt was such a great idea after all.

We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it any more!!

Islam has offended our dependest held convictions and faith in Freedom of Speech for the last time!

They don't like what others say? DONT LISTEN (not prove them right)

Let's stage our own protests- for Freedom of Speech! For 9/11 Victims!

If they want to behave like animals, by all means, let the slaughter begin!

I'm sure we have enough drones. We'll video tape & YouTube every decapitation.

Every mosque being burnt. We've been nice and even helped them, now let us show them what it means to be our enemy!

                    Americans hide no more!!

They are MORE THAN WELCOME to say they don't like it!

They are MORE THAN WELCOME to gather in protest!

They are NOT MORE THAN WELCOME to take lives!!!!

They are NOT MORE THAN WELCOME to damage property!!!!

To "prevent this" from happening in the future means one of 4 things:

                    1) No more free speech (not on my watch)

                    2) Complete subjugation to Islam (not on my watch)

                    3) Muslims getting a thicker skin (yeah right!)

                    4) Erradication of Islam

Vote for your choice! Act Accordingly! Maybe if they see their own families suffering consequences of their actions, they will develop the extra brain cells required to not partake in this type of behavior.

The middle eastern Muslims still haven't figured that out! They're hell bent on telling us to shut up and quit showing films that may be humorous to some Americans but insolent to Muslims...

TOO BAD!!!!! You won't change America, we've never changed our desire for Freedom and Liberty!

If you want to change an American, you'll have better luck educating a Middle Eastern Muslim about respecting the rights of Americans and the American constitution!

They can scream, whine and protest all they want!! I won't have any part of them telling me what to do!!!!

Per Wikipedia under "United States free speech exceptions":

"Exceptions to free speech in the United States are limitations on the First Amendment's guarantee of free speech and expression as recognized by the United States Supreme Court. These exceptions have been created over time, based on certain types of speech and expression, and under different contexts. While freedom of speech in the United States is a constitutional right, these exceptions make that right a limited one.

Restrictions that are based on people's reactions to words include both instances of a complete exception, and cases of diminished protection. Speech that involves incitement, false statements of fact, obscenity, child pornography, threats, and speech owned by others are all completely exempt from First Amendment protections. Commercial advertising receives diminished, but not eliminated, protection."

The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States among minority races! Yet, American’s posting comments in response to these events seem totally unaware that the vast majority of Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. The definition of an infidel is a 'non-believer?' In the event some may fail to understand the significance of that Islamic command, all followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of their faith so they can have a place in heaven. In effect they have been commanded to kill everyone in this chat who is not a Muslim. How does that make you feel???

I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those not of your faith or Dr. Chas. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee themselves a place in heaven!'

I also have a problem pretending to be a friend to Islamic leaders who are telling their followers to kill me! Based on policy endorsed by Obama and other liberals there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect a President in twenty years. Islam’s Sharia Law which promotes a prime directive found in the Koran ordering followers to: “Seek out, find and kill all non-believers.” Muslims are overtaking and destroying countries like France, Holland, Belgium, Norway, sweden and the United Kingdom.

It is this very Sharia Law that dictates beheadings, female genital mutilation, stoning of women for adultery, honor killings, forced and arranged marriages, women cannot leave their house without a family male escort, separated swim times at pools for males and females and complete subjugation of women by men. Homosexuals are to be killed. Abortion is haram and not allowed in Islam, but Muslim are allowed to kill their daughter if she refuses to marry the man they had chosen for her. Muslims hold to a belief that that it is permissible to steal money
                      and property from non-
Muslims in order to distribute it, but if they steal from each other the offender’s hands are to be cut off.

Yet, American’s are so ignorant they are not even aware of the truth of Islam’s Sharia Law. They spend their time attacking Romney and supporting Obama from a position of total utter ignorance. To the liberals in this chat, I hope you enjoy your future life under Obama and Sharia Law.

The ignorance among single issue constituency liberals never ceases to amaze me!

                      Wake up America!

Did anyone ever see Monty Python's movie "The Life of Brian"? - Funny, but we never saw any Christians attacking British embassies because of it.

These people are out of their frigging minds - They're seriously messed up in the head.

Enough is enough already! - We really need to start increasing the safe harvesting, production and distribution of our own natural energy here in the USA, rather than paying for fuel from countries where they hate us. - Let’s keep that money and those jobs here in the US.

Drilling here at home might not be the whole answer, but it's certainly a good place to start.

The ambassies' personel become hostages whenever someone here does or say something that offends extremist muslims over there. We cannot let these fanatics dictate what we can and cannot say or do.

Americans border patrol agents are killing Mexicans in the border, and Americans are killed by Muslims. I am not happy what is happening to America, but I am writing to let you know that we felt the sadness when evil people kill our citizens. So many Mexicans have killed by border patro agents and justice will come either from heaven or from man's law.

And why are border patrol agents killing Mexicans? Because the drug smugglers and human smugglers are trying to kill them. The border patrol isn't saying hey look there is a Mexican lets kill them.

That's the excuse to kill Mexicans in the border. They are always saying the same story but they are not victims they are thugs.

Mexico should stop cooperating with the US on drug smuggling. You guys do not deserve it.

                      Let's see...

If the US would get rid of the drug USERS... there would be no need for drug SMUGGLERS therefore no need for the killings.

Get rid of the ROOT of the problem (Drug Users) and the rest will go away.

So which cartel do you work for. You are just a lying sack of crap, go back to mexico where you are legal Cari. I have a very close friend that is DHS, and they are pretty much shot at every day from your side of the creek, but can not shoot back. You want mexico to do "cooperating" ? Good, the government there is about as morally corrupt as you are! This is the United States, not Mexico, we do have the right to enforce our law

Traffic - no solution is that simple, or stupid. Killing drug users will stop smuggling? What about human trafficking? This too is a problem with the borders.

I wish sharia law forbade receiving welfare--it does not!!! Muslims in Europe and America would tear up the Koran before tearing up their welfare checks thats how pathetic they are. Whenever searching dead muslim fighters (US Army Iraq) we would know if they were from Europe because we would always find welfare documentation (and a Koran)

You don't have to go to Europe to find muslim welfare recipients, just visit any free clinic, the foodstamp office and stand in line in a grocery store (they usually shop at night) and you see them like cockroaches spending our money.

Obama's Arab Spring will be his undoing just like Carter's backing the radials in overthrowing the Shah of Iran. Maybe Obama shouldn't have spiked the football at the DNC last week I do believe the crowd in Cairo was yelling Obama Obama we are Osama. But a left wing troll like you can't handle the true.

Does anyone expect anything different from Obama? His failed Presidency has shown we should start looking at people more closely instead of listening to their snake oil salesman BS. Bill Clinton was that way and was Impeached by the congress and disbarred as a liar by the U.S. Supreme Court. Then he stands up for Obama at the DNC. Great character reference! But then again it is like talking to the wall when you are a socialist and believe in the communist ideas which Obama believes in. The country is circle the drain and the Demon-crats are pissing on our back and telling us its raining.

With this weak President, we continue to show our weakness and our enemies love it.

Romney would have the US back in wars all over the ME and Northern Africa - but he's send our kids, not his 5 sons.
PULL OUT of the whole area and let the chips fall where they may. No more embassies. If any of them use nukes on each other, take them out with ours and allow the rest to continue their party sure to go back to the Stone Age. Freeze travel - none into the US. We have 2 oceans as a barrier, only the Canadian border would be a real threat, as they'll let anyone immigrate.

If the US is attacked, repeat air strikes until their "country of origin" is glass.

You people with your "failed Presidency" b.s. never fail to boggle the mind. Any business owners on here? If you were handed a bankrupt company (insert country) fighting a hostile takeover, how long would it take you to recover? If your board was doing nothing but saying no, no, no, and not getting a fracking thing done, how quickly could any of you recover from that? Anyone that says Obama ruined the economy tags themselves instantly as ignorant, never to be undone. That is a fact and it looks like a whole lot of folks on here say that. Whether they believe it or not is another issue, but the hate flowing in this country is unbelievable.

Romney using the death of a U.S. citizen for a sound bite is disgusting and Republican to the core. If anyone thinks it's o.k. to make a movie that will get Americans killed (no matter how ridiculous it is that people will kill over a movie) also tag themselves, completely ignorant. If you want to insult something that people love, you go do it in person so our people over there don't have to cash the check you wrote with your bull@!$%#, with their blood. If someone made a movie about your Mom, portraying her as a whore, and an idiot, tell me how you would feel about that person. Most Americans don't believe strongly enough in one entity, their Mom, their God etc to kill someone for insulting that entity but here's a news flash, ALL PEOPLE AREN'T AS RESTRAINED AS US! Understand?

                              To summarize:

People in other countries aren't like us.

When we insult peoples' Gods the will get pissed and want to kill us.

Insulting peoples' Gods is kinda stupid.

Saying so does not mean your "apologizing to the killers"

Mitt Romney is a religious fanatic that has no business criticizing Obama for someone elses statement. Let alone running this country. IMO

The parties go after each other instead of support Acton's that are related to hate and support of death, peace and tolerance for religious belief, and a higher power on my cal God something our Nation (USA) was founded on. Islam and Muslims hated the US LONG before Terry Jones was ever conceived.

There is a difference between a REASON and an EXCUSE.

Jeff N.-1053549 is quite correct in this instance; turning the other cheek does not work with people who have no concept of civil responsibility or personal freedom. To them, freedom is equivalent to anarchy. These people live under varying degrees of dictatorship, from their political leaders and from their religious leaders. THEY HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO BE EASILY LED AND THEY WILL RESPECT FORCE ONLY.

Imagine how their leaders would respond if this sort of protest were directed toward the leaders.

So you are blaming Terry Jones for firing a rocket propelled grenade into the embassy, killing the ambassador and several state department workers?

The people who pulled the trigger are to blame and nobody else.

The Islamicists condemn and criticize my values, such as freedom, free thinking, reason, music, dogs as pets, the food I eat, the women I dated, the parties I attended, my lack of religious faith, etc...I don't recall being so deeply offended that I fired a missile into the Libyan embassy.

If we adjust, then we are admitting the Islam is beyond reproach, and it clearly is not. If their values are offended by the values that I hold high, then it may lead to war, especially if Islam is so willing to kill innocent people. I will not compromise my right to be a skeptic or to criticize. The movie was have been ameteur, and nobody watched it...until the hypersensitive and vain Muslims were offended. If you don't like a movie then don't watch it, or simply criticize it, don't kill innocent people or the insult is confirmed.

JeffN; I'll have to disagree with you - reason and excuse go hand in hand...if you already know the reason, then you are pretty stupid to just hand them an excuse.

Charles; I don't stoop to tit-for-tat. I don't see one bit of difference in the history of how these religious groups gained power in the first place. You can go on forever trying to say who threw the first stone. Politicians are not going to change how these people think - it is up to their leaders to confront the flocks of all religions and find a solution...and it sure as hell isn't the responsibility of the US government to decide who is right. Throwing money at the problem isn't working, be it diplomacy or wars.

Are you offering up your children to go do religious battle...nope, but you will be happy to send minorities and the poor.

Ahhh yes, Yet move of those loving, kind and tolerant Muslimes. Riot, murder and pillage at the slightest insult, real or imagined. Insult Mohammed, kill people, insult Islame, kill people, Hear a rumor of an insult, burn embassies and kill people. Yes, the modern Muslime is just a pillar of tolerance. Funny how it's always said to be the few, but the Muslime turns out like lemmings to celebrate these attacks in the streets, from kids to elders, all out celebrating. It isn't the few, it's the religion and it's principles.

Time to stop ALL foreign aid to Muslime countries, stop ALL visa's and asylum for Muslimes, Stop Muslimes from entering the U.S. and purge the U.S. of all non native Muslimes. Close all our embassies and watch the middle east burn. After six months or a year, when they are starving and destitute, perhaps then they can behave in a more civilized manner. Then give it a few more years to become engrained, and so they can reduce their own excess population, they love to kill each other anyway.

A “reason” is an explanation for why something is the way it is, with everyone involved taking accountability for their part in a situation. An excuse is an explanation for why something is the way it is, that always involves the blame being put on someone or something that isn’t involved in the conversation, and not able to share their side of the story. What’s the difference? The accountability.

As you can see Reason and Excuse go hand in hand like Ice cream and Tuna Fish.....

I totally agree! Let's see if Mitt Romney, with 5 sons, would be throwing asinine rhetoric about war. He would think twice, since he has SO MANY FAMILY MEMBERS that could serve in the military, but they are not, just like he did not.

He was "On a Mission from GOd" during Vietnam. Just like his 5 sons are now: In a "mission" from God: God told them to RUN AND HIDE, and send 'THE LITTLE PEOPLE" TO BE KILLED.

These arguments are petty. Above one argues that Obama should get the credit for killing OBL because he is the leader who had to make all the decisions. Now the attack on Romney because he didn't serve. Neither have served in the military. I thank all of our soldiers in all branches serving in some very difficult places in some very sketchy situations. We need to get our soldiers out of the Middle East and let some of these fanatics take each other out. We send soldiers with our checks and we get both cheeks smacked. The leadership in many of these countries tell our leaders what they want to hear and secretly let these fanatical groups thrive. No money, no soldiers, no bull@!$%#.

MY RESPONSE: Well then, Obama's authorization to increase drone attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Yemen should bother you a lot! After all, what is so RESPECTFUL AND DIPLOMATIC about sending a Hellfire missile into a SUSPECTED terrorist's home, killing everybody inside, which may include women, children, old folks, and other innocent bystanders who are non-participants in any of the fighting? Meanwhile, Obama assumes the role of judge, jury, and executioner!

Also, tell me why it's okay to incinerate SUSPECTED terrorists along with any innocent bystanders via drone attacks, but it's not okay to waterboard PROVEN terrorists (note - there's not even innocent bystanders to worry about) in order to obtain information that could save a multitude of innocent American lives? And please remember that Obama abhores waterboarding because he says it's torture, yet he likes drone attacks. Please explain. (crickets chirping, chirping, chirping)

If they hadn't protested this video, nobody would have ever heard of or viewed it.

I think our religious fanatics should get together with their religious fanatics on a deserted island to discuss this "video". I'm sure that after a few years the sole survivor will have proved which mythology is better.

With this weak President, we continue to show our weakness and our enemies love it.

foreign aid to these countries is doing us a lot of good?? Time to leave the middle east to hash it out on their own. Keep our money here for USA citizens, and also keep our USA citizens alive. Those nuts in the middle east are all about killing and blaming the west. Of course, they get aid and oil money, so they can prosper, and buy weapons, of which they love to turn and kill us with.

How about not only withdraw from Afghanistan, but all of the middle east?

The President's response(s) are what we expect of our leader and the leader of the free world. I don't believe that the challenger had the insight or foresight to lead in this delicate situation. In times like this, it is important for cool heads to carefully work through strategically. Not every situation needs tough talk and tacit threats.

...it's part of Obama's plan to create more jobs. Burn as many flags as you want, we'll make more.

Tfhere was a movie that incensed Christians around the world:

The movie: The Temptation of christ. (small "c" intentional)

No burning of Embassies, No murder of innocence.

Lets not forget the Endowment of the arts flap:

Money given to American artist for "art" like a black and white photo of a Crucifix/Jesus in a bottle of urine, and a comment complaint box with a American Flag as the "floor" (you had to step on the flag to get to the box) Nothing happened.

There is No comparison to Christians and Muslims. When ANY Christian (save for defense of home or self) is violent... it is UN-Christlike.... When a Muslim is Violent.. it is the status Quo. Those weren't "extremist" who attack the Embassies, it was the Muslim people. let a American "burn" a Bible. It is free speech IN AMERICA... let a American DO ANYTHING... SAY ANYTHING against Muhammad and it is an INTERNATIONAL incident and (no direct offense to many on the vine) LIBS will say: "OH.... How could you do such a thing... that guy needs to be arrested for hate speech... He's giving AMERICA.. a bad name." So AMERICANS become the enemy... afraid to even say Muhammad or allah (lower case intentional) in a disparaging way. WE CURSE GOD DAILY and allah gets a pass.......

I could care less if one is a Christian or not... I'm not saying the guy who made the film was "right" but he had, IN AMERICA, the right to make it. SO (as with IRESPOND-2315268 ) I served... and I really want to get those that are responsible.... Its not even a Eye for and Eye thing... since when we just let AMERICANS get killed and say.. Pres. Obama: "We don't want to offend any religion but there is no excuse for attacks." send a few Marines and... back to the campaign I'm slipping in the polls... really.

Ok Mr. President.... I'm Religious... and your offending me.... please leave.

Instead of only blaming the idiots that did all of this we should also blame the numb-nuts who thought it would be a good idea to make such a movie. If they put out a movie that defamed Jesus of God you bet your ass we would have some angry Christians over here too and you know what their responses would be:

                                          "rag heads" "cultists" etc.etc.

Their reaction was overblown for sure but I understand where they are coming from.

The film makers and producers of this piece of junk knew what this would do. It was intentional period. Politics is at play by these film makers also. Hope they can sleep at night, the dam idiots.

Your comment is exactly why these "attacks" happen. Let's see Danish dude killed for GASP, unflattering cartoon of the prophet. Then there was South Park which had a highly edited episode so no muslims would be offended and blow up comdey central, the koran being "burnt" on an Army base , the thriteen year old girl who is being held for some for ripping pages out of the koran, not to mention honor killings, the old acid in the face, and of course public stonings and executions by beheadings. Who cares if some crazy pastor who's chruch is barley 50 people strong endorses some stupid movie. Was it really even about the movie, or was it retaliation for knocking off onther one of al quedas top guys? The moderate religious leaders of the muslim faith better hurry up and stand up and denounce this violence soon or it will really get out of hand.

Bull@!$%# Derek. The makers of this film had an agenda, and they knew what this dam film would cause period, and they also had a political agenda, and it back fired on them. When you have a fire going and know a spark of fuel will ignite it further it is better to use common sense. All this film did was put fuel on the fire, and they knew it would period. So piss off. As far as religion, all religion causes more harm than good period.

HELLOOOOOO....those movies have already come and gone and no Christians any where revolted....murdered over it nor vandalized anything over the movie's that have been released which have desecrated Jesus....Look the Jews/Roman's put him up on the cross and made him die a slow painful death....what more can some movie film maker do to him that has not already been done to him?.......He even warned that we will be persecuted for his namesake...but continued to preach love and forgiveness. While he hung on the cross dying he prayed..." Father forgive them for they know not what they do."

                                          beanne,

you cannot compare our society nor religion to theirs, the way in which they are practiced is completely different and they do not have the same rights that we do. In order to do so America has to lose some of it's freedom of speech, all of its freedom to practice any religion, and must become a Christian theocracy. This only gets us a fraction of the way to being like the Middle East because as you stated we would not be using violence.

The Middle East is an extreme environment of extremists and everyone else. The problem is that the extremists are the most vocal and are the most likely to take control of Governments and religious sects. It has been that way for centuries and until their culture changes it is going to remain the same. And at the moment it is still charged with the same energy that made the Arab Spring possible. There will be many more protests and riots in the coming months and over the next few years before things cool off.

The guy that released this video knew exactly what would happen. It has been in the news enough lately about how protests against people defaming Mohammed and Allah were turning more violent.

And in fact I am correct in what I said, whenever those types of videos come out you can always find a Christian Blog or some Christan posters on Newsvine claiming we should stop all foreign aid or even send troops or bomb said nations. They may not be violent but they do fight back verbally.

That little episode cost more than a hundred thousand lives and the same guys are with Romney today.

I agree with you. Considering what the neo-cons, and their Billionaire supporter's have pulled off in the past, I would assume they probably had a hand in the production of this rouge video. Did you notice how quickly Romney was putting out press-releases trying to Capitalize Politically on this situation? Of course, it backfired on him and his silly band of campaign adviser's, as usual.

He has absolutely no concept of what is involved in foreign policy or in diplomacy. He is just a stupid con man way over his pathetic head in waters that will drown him and the rest of America. Real republicans are crying out in anguish every time this stupid sum bich opens his dumass mouth. This tragedy has more casualties than the four who perished in Libya, it is the death knell for the Romney campaign as well. There must be truth to the saying that every cloud has a silver lining.

We can’t read the Iranians’ minds, but seven scholars of the period told us that Reagan’s foreign policy approach was either a minor factor in the release of the hostages or not a factor at all. The fact that the deal was negotiated entirely by the Carter administration, without involvement by Reagan or his transition team, seems to support the expert consensus. Romney made a claim that flies in the face of history and offered no evidence to support it. We rate the statement Pants On Fire. -PolitiFact

They have demonstrated an uncanny ability to take an untenable position and turn it to their advantage. Recent history is replete with such examples of outright deception of the American people regarding their wrongdoings.

We need to pull our troops out of the Middle East, pull ALL funding and aide, and get out. They do not want us there and I am sick of Americans defending a group that just wants to harm us. Even more so we should not be financing or helping any of these countries. We need to concentrate on the troubles in our own country, if we had a time of need not one of these countries would stand up and help. I say get us out of there and let them take care of their own problems!!!!

That is not what is going on. It is not that they do not want us there, though it may come across like that, they are just like a lot of people here, over generalizing twats. They take one ignorant American who made this video and juxtaposed him/her to all Americans. Many Americans did the same thing after 9/11 and continue to do so.

I am only talking about this specific issue, not overall considering all of these kinds of protests. Overall you are right, some of the ME nations do not want us occupying their countries or trying to run their Governments by putting in dictators.

However until someone put down their middle finger we are ever going to have situations like these. The best thing to do to try and repair some of the damage this has caused would be to protest against said movie ourselves, show them that not all Americans agree with the crap this twisted individual (who made the movie) has come up with.

                                              Democrats,

you have just shown you know nothing about Islam's history except for what they have told you to think (they being people like Glenn Beck, assuming you are a Republican which I do because of your handle).

Islam was never a violent religion and it was much more like Christianity when it was first practiced. However, as with all religions, there were extremists. Christianity passed it's test by putting it's fanatics in their place. Islam did not and it was overtaken by it's extremists. Until radical Imam's see their influence drop Islam is always going to be the "boogeyman" you think it is. In actuality it is much more like Christianity and Judaism then most Christians will ever admit since it goes against the common Christian-World view.

Almost every teaching in Christianity is present in Islam although worded differently and with different influences. It has the Golden rule in it, it has much of the same kill non-believers, no Gays allowed, kind of stuff that is in the Old Testament. It's central deity, Allah, is the Christian God; Allah is Arabic for "God". Mohammed is the Islamic equivalent of Jesus though his story is different because they have a different culture.

To ignore such similarities is to remain ignorant of the fact that religions are not inherently good nor bad, they are influenced by those that follow the religion and those that have the power to influence said religion; the Priests/Imams/Rabbis.

                                              GEOWIL,

It was different originally as it was based off Judeo-Christian teachings. However when you read the Koran you will find that Allah is not the same God. When you read the Koran and compare to the Bible there is a distinct difference in tone. It also has a very predominate male human tone when heaven includes 12 Virigns just for you. That is a bit like Mormonism as well, your own planet to make spirit babies with multipe wives in the afterlife. Very different than other major religions like Judeo-Christian and Buddhism.

Could someone please clarify the Dem stance on capital punishment these days? I see a lot of Dems celebrating the assassination of Bin Laden (many rounds of applause at the convention and sighted frequently in this blog), but as far back as I can remember, the Dem party has been against executing murderers, no matter how heinous (but in favor of killing unborn babies). So, has the party's stance on capital punishment changed, or is it just because we're in an election year and anything goes to get Obama re-elected even if it means selling out your own convictions? I personally am in favor of the assassination, but then again I also support capital pnishment. Just looking for some clarity here...

                                              Thanks

more wars have been fought and lives lost throughout history, over the cause of religion. In fact it hasn't been that long since the IRA wreaked havoc with the English... and that was Christians (Catholic vs Protestant) killing Christians. Terrorism is mindless frenzy or plotted evil, but either way many sectors in modern civilization cannot be expected to function as democracies. There is a reason why most Middle Eastern regimes are dictatorships or monarchies. Those people cannot handle freedom. They are driven by centuries of mandatory worship to Allah. There are no freedoms in most of those countries; however, they were safe to visit and function with in a governmental fashion when a constant ruler was in charge... like them or not, it's a fact. Those people know how to control their populace and if we continue to help overthrow their governments you can see what the results are. We cannot invade and conquer every country who doesn't understand nor agree with our principals. We can make things much worse on ourselves by deploying military might... spread all over. If there is anyone who doubts that, after realizing our condition fiscally subject to 2 wars fought simultaneously for 10 yrs... well knock yourselves out and go back for more. America will fall. Whenever you wreck a nations economy, you defeat that nation. It's a real shame to see all the right wingnuts wanting to declare another war. I say get out...entirely, quit sending billions, or even millions of tax dollars to prop up and/or remove governments overseas. It's only making us hated across the globe and it is wrecking us financially. Wars are not cheap... and they leave major scars that sometimes don't heal.

The people there obviously don't want the West there. Why are we trying to force ourselves one them? If they cant guard the Embassy from their own crazy rioters, then there shouldn't be an Embassy there. Its not right putting people at deliberate risk, when theres nothing to be accomplished by it. People dying isnt going to make the world a better place or lead to better relations. In fact it will lead to more violence.

King's comment is exactly what makes this scary. Conservative rhetoric, always willing to escalate like it is a ego contest, testosterone driven, we have to win, at all costs.

The film and the actions of Americans (and an Israeli) are just the fuse. The west has a long history of interventionism and nation building and destabilization in the region, with the most recent incidents being our invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. Wrong or right w/their religion, how many people have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan over the last decade or so? There are a lot of families and young adults who only think of lost loved ones when they think of the U.S.

There is no Hitler here. We are in someone else's country, we can not enforce our ideals on others then be indignant and declare a war against an entire region because they rebel against it. Even with a military that dwarfs that of everyone else, unless we nuked the entire region we would lose, and even if we won we would have gained nothing other than an ego boost.... pretty expensive in dollars and lives (on both sides) to be able to say we won....

I am afraid that if we are not careful, We are in danger of being the Nazi equivalent. We have the intolerance and sabre rattling on our end. We need to tone down our rhetoric and get out of the nation-building, world police role. Pull in, get our military back in the business of protecting our own borders, use the money saved to get our debt under control and rebuild our infrastructure. With us gone, we would have nothing to fear from muslims in the middle east, the power vacuum and inherent instability over there would keep them plenty busy for the foreseeable future, they would not have the time to be going after us, we can more than adequately defend ourselves with a small fraction of our current defense capability. In a few years when we have our own house in order and they have figured out themselves their governance and really need our "intervention" with economic assistance that gives us a foothold for our business, etc., we can do so the right, constructive way.

Hitler was invading other countries and making war across half the world. This is not even remotely similar.

These people only demand we leave them alone, and stay out of their country and their business. Their attacks have been because we wont leave them alone, and continue to interfere in their affairs. Our interference should end with helping anyone who wants out of these islamic backward countries, to leave. Let those who want to live under that rule, do so. Its none of our affair beyond that.

And , sadly, that is where you are wrong. We were minding our own business on 9/11 and when the other, pre 9/11 attacks took place against US. You do not have a very good understanding of the mindset we are dealing with here. The very fact that they would resort to violence and murder over an obscure movie nobody is even watching or heard of should give you a clue. And we are not talking about all Muslims, but extremist that believe that you are either compliant with their views or you are to be exterminated. Stop sticking your head in the sand and deal with the reality of these repressive bastards. Least you find yourself at the receiving end of an attack on your city as it goes up in a cloud of smoke. And you don't have to take my word for it, here is what President Obama has said about them:

Obama: Nuclear terrorism is 'the single biggest threat' to U.S.

"If there was ever a detonation in New York City, or London, or Johannesburg, the ramifications economically, politically and from a security perspective would be devastating," Obama said before meeting with South African President Jacob Zuma.

Obama's meetings with Zuma and four other leaders came on the eve of the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, D.C.

The prospect of nuclear terrorism is "the single biggest threat to U.S. security, both short-term, medium-term and long-term," Obama said. "This is something that could change the security landscape of this country and around the world for years to come."

Al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations are seeking a nuclear device, Obama said,"a weapon of mass destruction that they have no compunction at using."

And another, of many statements, from Mr. Obama on the threat of nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists

"Two decades after the end of the Cold War, we face a cruel irony of history — the risk of a nuclear confrontation between nations has gone down, but the risk of [a] nuclear attack has gone up," Obama said in a brief speech to the summit’s first formal session. "It is increasingly clear that the danger of nuclear terrorism is one of the greatest threats to global security — to our collective security."

Obama told the more than three dozen heads of state who accepted his invitation for the Washington conclave that the nuclear terrorism issue is more threatening both for practical reasons and because those seeking the weapons are more ruthless.

"Just the smallest amount of plutonium — about the size of an apple — could kill and injure hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Terrorist networks such as Al Qaeda have tried to acquire the material for a nuclear weapon, and if they ever succeed, they would surely use it. Were they to do so, it would be a catastrophe for the world — causing extraordinary loss of life and striking a major blow at global peace and stability," Obama said.

And the fact that they have not gotten their hands on nukes yet, does not change the fact that they want to kill us and subjugate us to their extremist "religious" beliefs. If you think pacifying them and hiding from them by isolating ourselves here in the US is going to change that you are naive or willingly blinding yourself to reality.

That is not true, Al Queda had been making demands for quite awhile before they attacked the Embassy in Africa, aswell as all the other attacks that led up to 9/11. They wanted the US out of Saudi Arabia. And out of the middle east in general. They went to war against us, because we went to war against the Warlords that have ruled those lands for thousands of years. Most of those villages are families, connected by blood. These are tribal people.

They got tired of us trying to "Westernize" the middle east.

There is no reason what so ever for anyone in these countries to be hearing about anything happening in America, or seeing videos that will upset them. It is our trying to connect ourselves to these people, that is the real cause here. Thats my point. We need to make contact, but keep our distance. Control the exchange of information, etc. Contain them in the middle east so the extremists cant wreak havoc across the globe.

WWI and WWII are totally different that the Middle East. In WWI and WWII we were fighting a specific country with one specific leader and their army. In the Middle East we have see multiple groups linked by ideology, but no defined army or one leader. We definitely were needed in WWI and WWII. But, this is totally different animal, one that we really cannot ultimatley win despite the best efforts of our fine men and women of the US Armed Forces. Bring them home, close the embassies in violent ME countries and cut aid. (PS - Saudi and other countries haven't burned embassies over this.)

Wouldn't it be up to Saudi leaders to decide if they want us in Saudi or not, not a splinter group called Al Queida? I agree we need to get out of Afghanistan, Irag, Yemen, Libya, etc. and leave them to their own devices, but there are some ME countries who we have good relations with and a splinter group doesn't have the right to tell anyone they can't have a relationship with a ME country. I.E. Saudi, Kuwait, Bahrain. Also, if you look at the aforementioned countries and the crazy ones, you will see they don't like each other very well either.

As facts develop this is starting to look less and less like a "protest" movement and more like a planed attack using a thin veil of Muslim offense as a cover. These attacks have all been small bands (100-200 people) well armed (rpgs in libya) that may be directed by remnant Al-Qeida forces. In Libya the general sentiment is actualy Pro-American for helping to remove Qudaffi.

It's bad enough that our navy seals have to have a lawyer available in case they kill someone. Fu(king politicians have stuck thier noses into our wars and our soldiers can't even kill someone without having to defend themselves!!!! This is why we haven't won a war since WWII!!! Obama is a pussy and his bragging about killing bin laden is an insult to our military!!! Our SEALS killed bin laden, not the muslim in the white house!!! He bragged about it so much that he exposed them and thier families to danger with his big mouth!!!!!!

Coming home isn't new. However it would be a start. The something new I mean is to forgive, build ourselves up from the inside and prevent future attacks on this country by being strong from within.

Really? A bad home movie comes out on July 1 in the U.S. and coordinated attacks on embassies around the world happen on Sept 11 and the press still gleefully reports cause and effect. Really?

Bingo. And on top of that they would have you believe it is all a coincidence that these attacks are taking place at the same time. Anything to keep Obama in office, even if it destroys the country and creates global chaos.

Anyone that thinks this WASN'T pre-planned needs to remove their blinders.. They want to hurt America.. So, they used a scapegoat (film) to plot, plan and carry out an attack on the US Embassy and other American-occupied sites across the Middle East.. Thankfully, some of the other sites were better suited to hold back the protests..

They cry about the portrayal of Mohammad, well, that was MONTHS ago.. It's a farce and anyone stupid enough to believe that they are just IRATE PROTESTORS should pack and go join them.. These sick abstards are intentionally attacking Americans on an already saddend day where we've already mourned thousands hurt by the attack on 9/11.. This is an outrage, and our government must respond to the extent necessary.. NO MORE DIPLOMACY, it hasn't and won't work with these monsters!

Shoot to Kill. We need to protect our Embassys and our people in them. These people don't respect any other religion but theirs. Why should anyone feel the need to tiptoe around theirs? They just look for any excuse to start a fight. They will never be freinds or allies no matter what we do.

It only seems that way because they have a much larger population of fanatics in the religion and they are usually the ones that find themselves in power by bulling and/or killing their way into the Governments of Middle East countries.

So the radical idiots would be all of them. "The only fitting treatment of an Infidel is death. Islam must be forwarded at all costs, by the point of a sword ( or RPG), if necessary". They live the word and spirit of their religion, This love and tolerance they speak of does not exist in any practical sense.

Could start a real domino effect with such a precedence.....ya think?

So is Catholicism but not to the same extent it was during the crusades, its victims these days seem to be only the children under the care of pedophile priests.

Christianity has plenty of blood on its hands as well, only now it hides in the shadows and kills doctors in the name of their god, who are willing to perform abortions.

There will always be a lunatic fringe of fundamental extremists even in the USA such as the idiot posing as a church leader who threatens to burn Korans.

Apparently we all just, "can't get along" because of this insidious, destructive ideology called religion.

Fanatics can not be reasoned with, they are a threat to society and should be stopped by whatever means necessary so the rest of us non-religious types can live our lives without worry.

He is not the head of the DNC. Do you really think Obama picked out the photos?

I am tired of people blaming Obama for everything. He is not perfect, but he is also not responsible for all of our problems.

If there is something wrong, like the photos, why don't you research to find out who is responsible and email them in protest?

                                                                      • 2 votes

Wow, and you're asking if he/she is "tripping"? That has to be the most rude and ignorant comment thus far I've read in awhile.. Jesus Christ wether or not you want to believe he had supernatural power, is historically proven to have existed and brought good will to MANY.. So, to say such a horrible thing about someone so good, just shows the POS you truly are.. I personally wish I could witness your final judegment.. I'd like to see you stutter for words to redeem yourself.. There won't be an excuse that falls from your mouth that will save you.. I'm actually going to pray for you that God has mercy on your soul.. Maybe your just really ignorant..

If I had my way I would burn every church to the ground and have everyone in the Vatican arrested for all the sins against humanity since time immemorial.

Faith and belief is one thing, claiming you are speaking on behalf of a God another. These obsequious, dogmatic hypocrites have lied to too many people for too long, they need to be exposed for what they are snake oil salesmen and charlatans.

No I am just an Atheist that does not get bent out of shape when someone portrays a deity in a way I do not like. I also happen to have done a lot of research on different religions and their backgrounds and I can say with 100% that Christianity is not the true religion and it's God is not the true God. In fact the fact that you have have faith that something exists proves that it does not exist or at least that there is no way to prove it does.

It is easy to prove a negative, all you have to do is look for the absence of proof that something exists. If there is a God it does not act upon anything on this World, nearly everything can be explained. For the stuff that cannot is where there lies a possibility that a God could exist. Paranormal for example. However I find it much more plausible that there is an Afterlife than that there is a "God"; the two are not mutually exclusive.

                                                                        #25.10 - Thu Sep 13, 2012 4:48 PM EDT

How can YOU get bent out of shape if someone makes fun of a diety?? Being that you don't believe in anything, there wouldn't be one you like or dislike.. So, that part of you statement so far, isn't very productive in this debate..

"I also happen to have done a lot of research on different religions and their backgrounds and I can say with 100% that Christianity is not the true religion and it's God is not the true God."

For one, ROMAN HISTORY, check it, it has DOCUMENTED PROOF OF CHRIST.. Pontius Pilot had him executed.. History Of his birth, good-will,

                                                                          #25.11 - Fri Sep 14, 2012 1:06 PM EDT

So, your unfounded, unresearched, view of my God is really ignorant.. Go to the Library and do some REAL research, and get back to you.. Maybe in your house and circle of athiests your opinions count as fact, but in the real world, we turn to HISTORY as fact.. Now, be a good little dewbie and go bury your face in a book..

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the movie was part of the plan. Go read up on it. CNN has been looking into it and is finding out that the folks who were in the movie thought it was about something else, their voices were dubbed, the so-called producer/director, whatever, seems to not exist (at least under the name given). It's all very mysterious and smells to high heaven.

Many are willing to kill or die to fend off perceived threats on their myth. That is what many ruthless leaders had capitalized on in the past. Islam was particularly well-suited to mobilize the masses for political/military expansion. Soon after its introduction in the 7th century, Islam gave rise to the Almoravida, Seljuk and then Ottoman empires that lead to conquest of the entire Arab/Turk/Persian region, as well as to wars against various European nations lasting over 500 years.

Talk about "sledge hammers to crack walnuts." This is symptomatic of exactly what is wrong with our foreign policy and our (mis)management of the Mid-East region. Quite simply, our political leadership and often even our military leadership, is comprised of posturing, bumbling idiots. They have little grounding in common sense or even reality.
