Tensions flared with attacks on U.S. embassies in Sudan and Tunisia, protests in Egypt, Jordan and Pakistan, and even the torching of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Lebanon.
Jim Maceda, veteran NBC News' Foreign Correspondent, has been reporting from Cairo on the protests triggered by an anti-Islam film for the last several days.

What??? MSNBC, NBC is not covering or talking much about the Tunisia Embassy in turmoil there. Boy what a big mess going on that region. It's a shame that we have a back-seat leader with little foreign policy experience running our country. This country is in need of true leadership right now. Ol' Hillary is not much help either. She did a good impression of some old School nanny teaching or giving a boring lecture about Muslim history. Now with oil prices going for over $100.00 per barrel expect gas to climb well above the $4.00/gal. The crisis seems likely to get only worse with the Feds going back into the real estate business buying mortgages up while adding more to the debt. Can't wait for another crash in the markets and double recession. I hope that Obama is happy with the outcome that this country is heading. It will be nice to see him reelected back in office so that he can eat crow. He will have NOBODY else to blame for the failure of this country for the next 4 years but HIMSELF. Then when he gets tired of blaming his self he will then turn and BLAME it on all of you that voted him into office!!! FUN FUN!!!

Among the questions is why was the embassy in Libya so ill prepared when there had been several attacks on Western interests in the previous few months, Al Qaeda posted a video prior to the attack asking Libyans to kill Americans, it was the anniversary of 9/11, and the secret location of the "safe house" in Libya was leaked to the terrorists?
I say get our people out of all of these countries, close down the embassies and stop handing over our hard earned tax dollars to these barbarians.
I agree that it is strategically important to remain engaged in the Middle East, but I agree with you too Dooby - we can reduce our footprint dramatically, and should. If our presence there creates hostility, reduce our presence there. Any who suggest trimming our Freedom of Speech are the real "appeasers".

We give Isreal hundreds of millions of dollars and basically financed and trained their air force so the US can have a strategic launching point for military action in the region that we have no other options to create allies.. Thats all.. its not abount belief systems .. Its about having a point of attack and defense in the region where we are hated..
We did not train the Israeli Air Force - They could train US. But you are correct - out of all those countries except maybe Saudi, Turkey, and Israel - When the SHTF we will still have a presense - (but things change quickly over there and have to run all the 1000's of scenarios ahead of time and figure out what our next move might be).

While not in favor of the knee jerk reaction of cutting off all aid or threatening these countries, I am in favor of withholding or suspending any aid in whatever form until the leaders are able to control the violence. Threats mean little unless you are prepared to back them up and I do not see that happening given the current state of our own countries responsibilites to its citizens.

The film is an excuse, IMHO. How many muslims even knew about the existance of the film? The attacks seem to have coincided with 9/11.
According to their prophet the women in my life are all sluts. According to their prophet I am going to hell and roast forever for not submitting to Islam. According to their prophet the Buddhist statue I have in the living room is idol worship worthy of scorn. According to their prophet they can take the woman in my life as a wife a slave or a concubine, but a muslim woman who marries me by choice would be put to death for dishonor. According to their prophet I am a dhimi worthy of contempt and my religion is illegal or marginalized in many Islamic countries. According to their prophet Allah is repulsed by the black dog we keep as a pet. But if I say their prophet is contemptable, they will kill the ambassador from my country, burn American businesses and properties and riot in the street.
God could you imagine if we burned down a middle eastern restaraunt in America in protest to what one of their people said on you tube. They would be crying for Jihad.. Multiple American casualties on US soil (which is what the embassies are considered) and we have the talking heads only protecting poling numbers... Here's a question for NBC: Instead of observing a moment of silence on 9/11 like every other news channel did, why did NBC choose to show an interview of Kris Jenner??? Was getting an update on her breast implants really more important than showing respect for those that died on 9/11???

I'm thinking Tehran or maybe Damascus or Cairo. If they have it in Damascus they could raise funds for the victims of the civil war at the same time, kill two birds with one stone...so to speak. The DVD and CD rights go to the Muslims so they can replace all those T-shirts that seem to rip right off and the performers get the Blue Ray and Internet stuff. Yeah, they could have a three-day concert (imagine that crowd on LSD). Wild Huh?

Okay, so let me take a slightly different direction here.
We are enthralled in the middle of a terrorist attack on US Soil (Us Embassies & Consulates are considered US Soil). There are terrorists marching daily against US interest in more than 11 countries within the Middle-East with NO end in sight.
In my humble opinion, if we had a LEADER running this Country, I would think that Leader would be calling for a Camp David Summit this weekend with the Leaders of Israel, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, even Iran (granted NOT ALL would agree, but at least the US LEADER could extend the Olive Branch). The US LEADER would anoucne to the World that until these World Leaders can come to some peaceful agreements, he would be suspending his campaigning and be, uhmmmmmm, Presidential!!!!
The Camp David Summit would last until a TRUE Peace Accord could be struck between the various Countries Leadership. Once a platform was agreed to, the US LEADER would announce to ALL of them that the US would NOT write one more check to any of them until there is at least 3-months of continual PEACE in the entire region. Then for each 3-month period of prolonged PEACE, again the US would re-open the checkbook. A Pay-For-Peace Agreement. If any of the participating Countries breaks the PEACE, ALL would be penalized with lack of checks. It's an ALL or nothing deal. In the case of Iran (who does not receive any financial backing, and any other), we would lift the embargoes on those Countries in place of the check writing.
I think two things would instantly happen. 1) The LEADER would immediately win re-election, because the American people would see him as a true LEADER and because they would not want to screw this up. and 2) Each Country would begin to work together to assure that each upheld the Peace Accord, because they rely heavily on the financial aid that the US provides.
Of course, it would take a TRUE LEADER to actually attempt such a task, and that is something that we DO NOT have in Washington (Nor would the other candidate be any better). So instead, we have a POTUS who would rather go out campaigning (the only thing he's really any good at) and an opposing candidate who can't figure out what the hell he should do to appear Presidential. This while we grow closer and closer to a full out military engagement in the Middle-East. Folk's this is NOT because of some silly movie. This has EVERYTHING to do will Israel's plight for a homeland and freedom in a region that despises them and all that they stand for, and because of our long-standing support of Israel, we are joined at the hip wit them.
If Israel honestly sees this situation escalate and feel as though they are in imminent danger of attack, they will NOT hesitate to engage (and Israel already has nuclear weapons). IF that where to happen, the US would be forced to stand with Israel and we would see the beginning of WWIII.
LEADERSHIP...something so desperately lacking in American politics today...and we because of it, we stand on the edge!!!!

I DO NOT disagree with you, but the US has had a STRONG relationship with Israel since WWII and we have poured $Trillions of US Dollars into their country...we SIMPLY CANNOT turn our back from them. Even if we tried, the rest of the Middle-East sees us as one-in-the-same in this. We CANNOT escape this. And our POTUS has said NO to a meeting with Israel PM? We should be demanding a meeting with them and ALL others in the region...that is what LEADERS would do to defuse this situation.

WHY DO THEY HATE US?
Are we so naïve to think that it was the movie that made all that.
As a Christian who was born and raised in A Muslim nation, I may have my own
well informed opinion about the matter. Earlier in that country we lived in
harmony, citizen security, the simplest right was not at question, we had good
Muslim friends, there were good Christians and Muslims and bad ones of both. The
country was secularized islamists was under watch Truly up to this day I view Muslims as the
same as Christians, the God I believe in created everybody and love everybody,
not Christians only
As I grew up, and just over few years the militant Muslim movement swiped the
nation over. Some of our Muslim friends grew their beards and stopped talking
to us but others continue to be "what we call moderate Muslims" but
their voices were nowhere to hear, some of us were brutally beaten by our own
colleagues who used to be our friends because of the order of Allah, many are
being killed and no one pays the price for these murders. Islam has turned our
friends to enemies. At the end the question is, whose is violent, some Muslims
or Islam itself, to answer we should go the biggest Muslim icon in Islam
history, the prophet Muhammad and how he dealt with "the others". I
will mention a few. You will find them and more in the Muslims books of Alseira

story of Bani Quriza, a Jewish tribe that he had sieged and was asked to
surrender or else, so they did. What did he do with his prisoners of war?. He
killed every adult male then took the women and children sold as slaves to buy
more weapons. The prophet took Rehana, a beautiful waman in the tribe after
killing her dad and brother as a slave. Another story is the story of Om Kerfa
who accused the prophet of stealing some of her poetry, he sent a team to
capture her and in spite of her asking for his forgiveness, they bound each of
her legs with a rope to a camel and let them run in separate directions
splitting the 70 year old to pieces, then cut her head and put it on a spear
for public display. there are a lot of verses in Quran to support the action of
the prophet and others "examples Sura 2, verses 190,191,193 216,217,244.
Sura 4 verses 75,88,89,91, Sura 8 verses 12,18,38,60,65, Sura 9 verses
5,14,29,73,122---etc"
Moreover Quran mention Moses, David and Jesus as muslim prophets and yet it is
radically different than both religions, the only exit is to declare that
Christians have purposely corrupted the bible to hide the verses about
Muhammad, so we have become the evil power in the world that corrupted Allah
inspiration. Now do you know who practice true Islam? The radicals or
moderates?. Our true problems is not Muslims, they just want to be good citizen
to their Allah. The problem is in the heart of Islam and its violent history
and the weapon to defeat it is knowledge and not cowboys. As long as we believe
that Islam is a peaceful religion, we are digging the graves of our children
and our Muslim brothers’ children too

Some people want you to believe in strife between Muslim and Christian, for the most part they have gotten along. You want to see violence, see how Israel was taken - All men, women and children killed and burned, along with possessions. Supposedly at the behest of "God" to the "Israelites".
Then "God" killed all the Jews by drowning them, innocent men, women and children, and "saved" Noah.
We don't need some crazy fascist like Netan yahoo trying to dictate U.S. foreign policy. Israel has spied on us, bombed one of our ships, built settlements when we requested them not to for years, has not changed its apartheid policy towards Palestine, killed thousands of Palestinians, including many innocent women and children, bulldozed Rachel Corrie to death, has illegal wmds, nuclear weapons of mass death.
They are no better than any other country, and their "religious" book has stoning to death of women, in favor of men, all kinds of degradations, etc., so don't denigrate other religions for the favor of that.
If we pull out, won't the extremists just move in and consolidate their power? At least we have a hand in the game.
I would agree with you 100%, we paid the price after Sept. 11 as we were woefully unprepared. The bigger question is how do we do this? We cannot afford another war front and at some point the American people are going to really get tired of our sons and daughters coming home in boxes. Maybe its time to draw another line in the sand and send a very potent message that enough is enough. It took a drastic action to bring Imperial Japan to it's knees's so maybe hitting Islam where it hurts is the answer.
I would agree with you 100% about sending a potent message and the above posting about
keeping our hand in the game but I would only add that all cards must be on the table because
my Uncle who was in WW 2 did not believe Japan was responsible for Pearl Harbor so there
must be no dealing from the bottom of the deck in this Jerusalem Poker Game. And hopefully
President Obama has an Ace in the Hole, in a manner of speaking. because it's winner take all

Iran is not going to attack Israel; any understanding person can see what their reasons are if they do acquire that which Israel has illegally. It's to protect themselves in this paranoid world.
