Foreign workers killed in suicide attack on minibus near Kabul airport

According to reports citing local officials in Afghanistan, a female suicide bomber attacked a minibus near Kabul, killing at least nine people in what may be the deadliest act of retribution over an anti-Islam film produced in the U.S. NBC's Richard Engel reports.

Updated at 9:25 a.m. ET: A suicide bomber attacked a minibus near Kabul airport in Afghanistan on Tuesday, killing at least nine people including eight foreign civilians working for an international aviation company, according to reports citing local officials.

Afghan militants claimed responsibility, saying the attack was carried out by a young female in retaliation for a film mocking the Prophet Muhammad.

The South African International Affairs Ministry said that eight of the victims were South African citizens.

Spokesman Nelson Kgwete told The Associated Press that the victims are believed to have been employed by a South African aviation company based at Rand Airport in Johannesburg.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Russians were also among the foreign workers killed. Unidentified police sources put the total death toll higher than the local officials, saying 12 had died.

The attack underscored growing anger in Afghanistan over the film, which has enraged much of the Muslim world and led to the killing last week of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans.

US-Afghan military operations suspended after attacks

Thousands of protesters clashed with police in the Afghan capital on Monday, burning cars and hurling rocks at security forces in the worst outbreak of demonstration-related violence since rioting in February over the inadvertent burning of Qurans by U.S. soldiers.

The death toll from the suicide attack was the highest on foreigners in the city since April 2011 when an Afghan air force pilot gunned down eight U.S. military flight instructors and an American civilian adviser after an argument at Kabul International Airport.

Crowds of angry protesters showed up in Kabul, Afghanistan and Jakarta, Indonesia. The violent uprising followed a deadly weekend marking the deaths of eight International Security Assistance Force members. NBC's Atia Abawi reports.

Haroon Zarghoon, a spokesman for Hizb-i-Islami -- a radical militant group that shares some of the Taliban's anti-foreigner, anti-government aims -- told the Associated Press that the attack was carried out by a 22-year-old woman named Fatima. However, the AP noted that suicide bombings carried out by women are extremely rare in Afghanistan — and few if any women drive cars.

Another spokesman for the group, Zubair Sediqqi, told Reuters: "A woman wearing a suicide vest blew herself up in response to the anti-Islam video."

Gen. Abdul Zahir, director of the local Criminal Investigation Department, told NBC News there was no way of confirming yet if the bomber was a male or female.

Reuters cited unidentified police sources saying the bomber was a woman, possibly driving a Toyota Corolla car rigged with explosives, which she triggered.

Local photojournalist Massoud Hossaini who posted a picture of the blast scene on Twitter, said all the foreign bodies he saw were "without any uniform."

Protesters in Kabul and several other Asian cities have vented their fury over the film at the United States, blaming it for what they see as an attack on Islam. The outcry saddles President Barack Obama with an unexpected foreign policy headache as he campaigns for re-election in November. His administration has condemned the film as reprehensible and disgusting.

In response to the violence in Benghazi, Libya, where U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed, and elsewhere lastweek, the United States has sent ships, extra troops and specialforces to protect U.S. interests and citizens in the Middle East, while a number of its embassies have evacuated staff and are on high alert for trouble.

The identity of those directly responsible for the film remains unclear.

Clips posted online since July have been attributed to a man named Sam Bacile, which two people connected with the film have said was probably an alias.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, a Coptic Christian widely linked to the film in media reports, was questioned in California on Saturday by U.S. authorities investigating possible violations of his probation for a bank fraud conviction.

NBC News producer Akbar Shinwari in Kabul, Reuters and the Associated Press contributed to this report.

Why is it that Muslims take themselves so seriously ... religion has been the butt of jokes for centuries .... when the Muslim world was closeted in a small part of the world disagreements quickly became ugly and were acted upon quickly

... now that the whole world is the stage it seems that those in power in the Muslim world would join the twenty first century and take criticism as just that ... without putting death sentences on any who dare disagree ...

The violence must be intended to make the rest of the world take them more seriously - and to a degree, it works, it must be confessed. It's not that we take their mythical beliefs any more seriously, but we certainly pay more attention to them as objects in the world.

This is the start of the Muslim's version of the Vietnam 'Tet' offensive against the Americans. By next year, there will be another "Peace with Honor." Kabul will be called Taliban City just as Saigon became Ho Chi Minh City. Billions of dollars of supply and facilities will be left behind as gifts to the Talibans. Remember Cam Ranh Bay?

As for puppet Karzai, he has already reserved a plane ticket to California where he has stashed away his wealth courtesy of American tax payers. His wealthy neighbors are former South Vietnam President Kyee and Thieu. Just to show off how wealthy they are, they will only hire all White gardeners and pool man..... and a half dozen of blonde biki babes to keep the pool water warm.

Who says war aint good?

Religion of peace strikes again. This violence and killing of innocent people over a stupid video done by one man is disgusting.

A wall should be built around the whole Middle East and they should be ordered to stay within it and not ever come out. They do not deserve immigrate to any other part of the world with that sick religion that produces thugs like this.

They are taught to hate anyone that is not a Muslim and to hate America at an early age and it is reinforced in their schools while they grow up. There is no hope for that society, ever.

I have to agree, this has nothing to do with a film, it was out three months ago and the producer is egytian born. This has to do with our foreign policy, we paid 1.55 billion to the muslim brotherhood, they blow up our embassy and now obama has offered another 1.55b. Just like a kid that wants more candy, they will cause rioting and killing until we give them more money, Cut off all aid and see what happens. They will not be able to buy more guns or ammo, but we will hear them crying not enough food to eat. Cut em off obama or we cut you off

When will the Obama administration realize that telling their allies in Afghanistan that they're leaving at a certain date, doesn't inspire confidence.

So what are the Afghans who have to live in that country going to do when they know that the Americans are on the way out? They start making deals with the Taliban in order to survive on the day after.

.

OBAMA'S FOREIGN POLICY HAS FAILED!

OBAMA'S ECONOMIC POLICIES HAVE FAILED!

TIME TO KICK HIM OUT!

They are more aggressive now because they know America will do nothing to stop them.

America helped overthrow the governments of Egypt and Libya.

Both countries are now controlled by the muslim brotherhood and al-qaeda.

Even though terrorists now control Egyot and Libya, America is still sending them billions of dollars. $2.5 billion since the overthrow of the governments and starting next month, if congress approves it, another $2 billion in the next year.

All of this money is being borrowed from China and then sent to countries controlled by terrorists.

Why does our own media keep repeating the fake outrage of these terrorist groups. I'll bet in the next month or so it will be revealed that this film was produced by Al'Queda to use against the United States........

As far as all the hateful right wing comments against our President, You right wingers act like you love this film because it's given you the opportunity to spread more of your hate and division.... That seems to be all you worthless righties are good at. Just out of curiosity, are you people working for Al'Queda too? ........ It sure sounds like you are..... rotten traitors.

Hope and change is moving right along. He was right. Americans are too busy pointing stupid fingers at the opposite party and trying to place blame to see what is really going on. It isn't that he is so smart but rather that the American people are so stupid. Divide and conquer.

Over the weekend 2 bases were attacked, jets, helicopters and refueling stations were destroyed, and we hear nothing about it. Here's a video of one the attacks a few months ago. All by plan. Obama said we are winning the war on terror, he's wrong.

There are many ways and means in which to assert oneself; through education, scientific research, technological innovations, the arts, entertainment, cruisine, dialogue, tourism, cultural exhanges, et cetera. In contrast, the best thing that Muslims can do is rant, rave, target other culture's expressions, lifestyles, and blow themselves up. Their behavior is shameful to civilzation.

You cannot be a Muslim and a citizen of a non-Muslim run nation. It is a toxic mixture, because the two are mutually exclusive. Even if thngs appear peaceful for the time being, it's only a matter of time before it comes to blows unless the host nation submits and adopts the quest's values and religious mores.

The film in question was a low budget campy obscure you-tube production that nobody in the west saw or noticed, (until the riots). It was legally made since there are no blasphemy laws to prevent it. The content was bias and stilted and often mocking. But before we condemn it in a knee-jerk response we need to evaluate it as the historic document that the Muslims have made it into.

That's right, it would have gone un-noticed, but the murders of innocent people and diplomats, and the massive destructive riots have turned it into an historic document. It also confirms the accusations and criticisms made against Islam. This is more excessive than the idol worshipers that Muslims relentlessly condemn.

The movie takes its stories straight out of the hadith, (the stories of actions, sayings and deeds of the prophet).

The movie gives a voice to Oum Kerfa, a contemporary critic of the warlord Muhammad. Because she was a critic, Oum Kerfa was captured, and tortured to death by having her legs ties to camels who vivisected her body. Her family and kin were either killed or sold into slavery.

The movie gives a voice to Safiyah, who Mohammad "married" and had sex with the same night he beheaded her tribesmen, killed her father and tortured then beheaded her husband Kinnana. I doubt that Safiyah (17) was much in love with the much older Muhammad whom she'd never met. I imagine she was in shock and terror, and the marriage was more of a rape. The movie depicts the act as a rape, the hadith describes it as a marriage.

The movie gives a voice to Aisha, who was given to Mohammad for marraige by her father Abu Bakr when she was 6 and Muhammad in his 50's. She had no choice or say in the matter, and in the business deal, Abu Bakr became Caliph after Muhammad died.

I find it more offensive that the vanity of ones prophet uses death threats against anybody who examines the "deeds" of the prophet. This is pathological narcissism in its extreme. Perhaps the problem is that the Koran is such a bully book that it has extinguished all other relevant forms of culture in the Muslim world. The Muslims offer nothing of cultural value to the world except the Koran. And if the world doesn't buy it, the Islamicists go on a riotous killing rampage.

I would urge our political leaders not to criticize the movie, but to declare that the movie is not a product of the US government, and the murder and mayhem resulting from offended vanity is far more self-insulting.

Perhaps the makers of the film, in giving voice to the people who either stood up to or were victims of Mohammad, should be praised as making a courageous stand. Their film making skills kind of sucked, but they actually made a statement. The far left cowards in Hollywood are too busy manufacturing vapid schlock like Transformers episode LXXI.

No, it is not.

We have had Muslims in our country for all 200 years of our history. What name they give god is irrelevant, they are Americans fist.

Americans who are Muslim serving in our armed forces. They answered the call for soldiers, took up arms when we went to war, and have served with commitment and dedication, many of them making the ultimate sacrifice for us and our country. They are Americans first, and what they do matters more than whose name they do it in.

For you to lump all of them in with the extremists disrespects their commitment, their service, and their sacrifice.

Amanda; I agree with your comments and if these right-wing al qaeda Republicans would watch something other than their fellow right-wingers they would have seen three young ladies from Benghazi stating the actions of those who attacked the consulate were not true muslims. The majority of the Muslim world doesn't feel that way. Abdullah II, King of Jordan, claims to be a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad and he's been unequivocally against the use of violence:

"What these people stand for is completely against all the principles that Arab Muslims believe in."

There's no way to misinterpret that or take it out of context. Here's more from the Muslim community:

"This film really is cheap. It's low quality, low rate, and it really should've been ignored," said Dawud Walid with the Council on American Islamic Relations. "It's just a shame that in Libya that there's a small group of violent people who have escalated a situation. We don't like the contents of the film at all, but the last prophet of Islam, Muhammad, taught us that we're supposed to repel evil with righteousness and good behavior," he continued. "Prophet Muhammad would not sanction the wanton violence or the death of any innocent people."

Shaykh Abdul Aziz al-Ashaikh (Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Senior Ulama):

"Hijacking Planes, terrorizing innocent people and shedding blood constitute a form of injustice that can not be tolerated by Islam, which views them as gross crimes and sinful acts."

Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai, Pakistan:

"It is wrong to kill innocent people. It is also wrong to Praise those who kill innocent people."

Imam Kutty from Jami Mosque:

"Let us make no mistake about it: Today, Muslims have no enemy greater than fanatics in their midst...Let us know that fanaticism is ignorance; it is nothing but sickness and bigotry; let us know that fanaticism is opposed to both scripture and reason...We Muslims therefore condemn these barbaric attacks against innocent people."

"We condemn them unconditionally; we condemn them because it is opposed to reason and revelation. It is contrary to the fundamental principles of Islam which teach the sanctity of life. Make no mistake about it, we Muslims cannot be Muslims unless we affirm the sanctity of life in all forms."

"Let every Muslim know that there is no room in Islam for fanaticism, for hatred, for racism, for terrorizing innocent people, for indiscriminate killing, even in a state of war."

"Let us Muslims shoulder our responsibility in this crisis facing our society by distancing ourselves from all those who have perpetrated such a heinous and dastardly crime. I appeal to every Muslim to cooperate with the authorities in bringing the culprits to justice. Let no Muslim harbor such criminals in their midst; doing so is violating the laws and values that we cherish dearly in our religion.

And the Libyans have arrested multiple people already for the embassy attack.

I had to copy and paste it. This reminds me of the photo's of a Muslim soaking an American flag in gas then lighting it, which also lit himself on fire from the splashed gas on his cloths then you see a few more of him running around with the flames trailing on a 60 degree angle from him. Hello, Amanda. You're right, many people and leaders have spoken out against this... THIS TIME. Not so much in the past. What you say may very well be true, but the fact that these riots and violence are so wide-spread, crossing nations and international boundaries, and have been happening for decades, really just proves that the violent reactions are an innate problem within the religious philosophy of Islam. The sooner people start admitting that, the sooner this can be corrected and Islam can take its place in the world as a religion respected and not a religion feared or despised.

Denying or deflecting blame for a problem such as this doesn't help anyone at all, especially the victims.

I have never and will never put anyone on 'ignore' because while I may not agree with something a particular person has said on a particular topic, on another topic that person may have another point of view, some new insight, on a current issue that I haven't considered. One of the precepts of my religion is 'All knowledge is worth having', and putting someone on 'ignore' would limit the knowledge coming in that could help me make informed decisions on today's issues.

And it's thanks to those Muslim (and other faiths) soldiers fighting our wars overseas that you have the freedom to put me on 'ignore'.

I've read the Qu'ran. I've read the Christian Bible. Both books have passages that marginalize portion of the people out there, since antagonism is a part of human nature. But both books also have their version of the Golden Rule.

The problem is not religion. Religion is a set of words and precepts that are good guidelines to live by. The problem is the members of each religion who pick what they like out of said religious book and ignore the rest. I could pick up the phone book for my municipality and after some scouring I'm positive I could pick out the words to Hitler's Mein Kampf.

If I met someone illiterate, held up the phone book and recited Hitler's Mein Kampf and told them that was what it's about, they would take me at my word that this is what it's about since they can't read it for themselves.

The fundamentalist/extremist Muslim movement was born out in the desert of the Middle East, where people are poor, life is hard, and you have to scrape for everything you have. They needed to believe something outside of themselves to keep them going--but as they were largely illiterate, they depended on their religious leader to tell them what was in their holy book. It was then easy for an unscrupulous religious leader to control what people felt, thought, believed--and gives them all the more reason to fight literacy, democracy, industrialization, and modernization.

It's roughly equivalent to a situation if the Pope says he talks to God and God told him to tell everyone the Pope is infallible. We know better, having read the Bible for ourselves; we know he is man, and man is fallible, and you cannot be considered infallible just because you declare yourself to be.

We here in the West have discovered that (precarious, its true) balance between modernization and religion, and we still struggle with it but we are making progress. Now it's up to them to begin their journey.

    ********************ENOUGH LIES ALREADY*****************

Amanda-2017567 - Americans who are Muslim serving in our armed forces.

What percentage of the Muslims living at the US are Currently Serving in the US Military. And don't lie, I have the Offical DOD Numbers.

Amanda-2017567 - They are Americans first, and what they do matters more than whose name they do it in.

Wrong to be a real Muslim, as 100% subjugated to Islam; Islam superceeds everything else.

Infamous examples: Prisoner Nadal Hasan (formerly US Army Major). His Islamic Vows (part of the indoctrination ceremony into Islam, to become a Muslim) superceeded his later US Military Commissioned Officer's Oath of Office.

Just like currently the Islamic Vows superceed the Oaths sworn to any Governments, like the Afghan Police and Military killing Americans; same with the Egyptians, Libyans, etc..

YOU WERE TOLD BEFORE THE FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC BELIEVERS ARE THE MAJORITY. SO STOP ATTEMPTING TO MARGINALIZE THE ACTUAL PROBLEM BY SAYING "RADICALS", "EXTREMISTS", ETC. UNLESS YOU ARE TALIKING ABOUT THE MAJORITY.

Amanda-2017567 - The majority of the Muslim world doesn't feel that way.

Recite each day of Ramadan that Celebrates the defeat of the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers. And the recent examples as used against the US and US Allies.

Recite each of the 109 Suras of the 114 Suras of the Holy Koran (Quran) Calls to All Islamic Believers to War Against the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers. And when the Muslims (Islamic Believers completely subjugated to Islam) will stop believing this and when the Imams at the Mosques Worldwide will stop screaming and demanding this.

Tell everyone by percentage what the Mandatory Islamic (Muslim) Tithes of Trillions USDs per year are being used for.

Post the Unclassified US Department of State Terrorist Organization Lists with the known numbers of members of each. The ones that SOS Clinton, President Obama, etc. seem not to be reading or are ignoring. As giving them any Material Support of any kind is against US Laws as President Obama's January 21, 2009 Patriot Acts (that also eliminated US Citizens Constitutional Rights), Section on Material Support to Terrorist Organizations as upheld by the US Supreme Court.

Amanda-2017567 - Abdullah II, King of Jordan

Bought and paid for by US. Recently requested US Military in Jordan to stop the problem at Syria from spreading to his Nation. Jordan has a long History of attempting to Exterminate the Jews, as part of the 1933 Forever Alliance with Chancellor Hitler, and the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nation's Original Charter of the Extermination of the Jews. Their, Jordan's Military, were those that implemented the Fundamentalist Amin Al Husseini's Pan Arabic Plan to stop the Jews from coming to the Islamic World, by armed force removing the original inhabitants of Palestine, the Christians and Jews, and replacing them with the Jordanians and Egyptian undesirables (usually from their prisons) also by force for the Arabs that did not want to leave their families, relatives, property, etc. at Jordan and Egypt; and the dumb arse British even helped them do that (keep the Jews out of the lands that even the Arabs didn't want until the Jews improved the land, especially irrigation, while the Arabs spent all their money on weapons from the USSR instead of building their own Nations Infrastructure.).

Amanda-2017567 - Shaykh Abdul Aziz al-Ashaikh (Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Senior Ulama)

The US Ally Saudi Arabian Intelligence Agency would very quietly do a nasty on their own "internal problem".

Amanda-2017567 - Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai, Pakistan

Way smarter than you. Does not want to cut off his own testicles, by cutting off US Aid Money to Pakistan. Eventhough, he also knows that the Fundamentalist Islamic Holy Warriors of Islam (Jihadists) are rebranding the US and International Aid, to Fundamentalist Islamic Aid, and the Fundamentalist Islamic Pakistani people are fooled, just like you. When the Fundamentalist Islamic Holy Warriors were going to be exposed since they could not handle all the rebranding of that size during the Flood at Pakistan, they stated they would kill International Aid Workers coming into Pakistan.

    Amanda-2017567 - I've read the Qu'ran. I've read the Christian Bible.

Once again YOUR IDEALISTIC ACADEMIC NONSENSE NON FACTUAL OPINIONS have NOTHING to do with the Real World Life or Death School of Hard Knocks.

Reading about Islam, is like a virgin writing about what it is like to have sex with the opposite sex. I keep saying STOP using the Limiting Western Term of "Religion" pertaining to the Islamic Belief. GO LIVE 21st Century Islam at an Islamic Nation.

I also told you many, many, many times before the 1.8 million minority OF ISLAMIC BELIEVERS LIVING AT THE US DO NOT DETERMINE WHAT ISLAM IS FOR THE MAJORITY OF OVER 1.5 BILLION ISLAMIC BELIEVERS WORLDWIDE (MAJORITY BEING FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAM).

    add to post#1.32.

I previously also told all of you Newsvine Posters the numbers of Civilians at Afghanistan, especially the almost hundred thousand US Civilians sent to Afghanistan as President Obama's August 2009 US Civilian Surge, and the significant problems they Caused for the Supply, Transportation, Logistics of General McChrystal.

Then all of you started your nofirsthand experienced non factual baloney name calling, just to defend President Obama's Stup!dity against Registered Democrat Appointed by President Obama General McChrystal that was there, just like I was watching and having to deal with President Obama's F**K UP. And this still continues today, as to where most of the Billions USDs per year are being spent, on US Civilians; not the US Military nor the Afghans; as determined by President Obama's Political Appointees to Afghanistan, the Billions USDs that the US Military nor the Afghans (President Karzai) DO NOT have Access to that the ignorant keep screaming about and claiming "Karzai Corrupt" (left over slogan of the other President Obama Political Appointees that were investigated by General McChrystal and General Petraeus as requested by President Karzai and found Guilty.).

THROW ALL THESE OVERPAID TOO EXPENSIVE PRIVILAGED CIVILIANS OUT OF AFGHANISTAN. They refuse to learn the Culture (Islam) refuse to learn the Languages (Pashtu, Dari, Arabic, Farsi, etc.), insult the Afghans by saying they don't know English, violate their Islamic Laws knowingly and unknowingly (because they refuse to learn Islam), cannot even protect themselves since they are "Non Combatants" so they require even more expensive Security Contractors (more Civilians), believe they are entitled to everything like at the US (BurgerKing, KFC, Baskin Robbins, TGIF Fridays, Mexican Food, Starbucks, etc., and refuse to eat in the US Military Dining Facilities that these same Civilians operate), belief that their jobs are 9am to 5pm (no sense of urgency about anything) and the belief that their job is the most important at all of Afghanistan (some in the US Military as the Civilians Security were considering withdrawing to predetermined locations to prove just how insignificant these Civilians really are. I had to file UCMJ charges against these US Military), Civilians with no Intelligence nor Military Experience telling the US and US Allies Military Forces what to do (aka the Civilian Control of the Military).

It is NORMAL, and not the EXCEPTION for the Civilians to repeatedly gain the hatred of the local Afghans many barely scraping in the dirt to survive while the privilaged Civilians mock them, including visually with all their privilages. Giving the Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban their Strategic Asymmetric Warfare Goals of: "Gaining Local Support", "Gaining National Support", "Gainiing International Support (broadcast thru Arabic Al Jezeera, Iran's Fars, etc.)", most importantly "Defeating the US And US Allies National Will to Maintain the Fight"*.

And once again the US And US Allies have NO concept of Asymmetric War versus Conventional War; especially the US Politicians by their Actions not "empty words" (their hot air causing Global Warming (sarcasm)).

*see post#2 below. And many wonder why the US Ally Afghanistan has abandonment issues, as due to the short term only memory of the US Public they have forgotten what happened to the previous abandoned by the US, 1980s US Ally Pro US Afghan Muhajeen as massacred by the 1990s Fundamentalist Islamic Taliban as Fully Supported by the USSR Backed Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran.

It's not original, but, "Religion - It's given people hope, in a world torn apart by religion". One more, "Religion is like farts. Yours is ok, but everyone elses stinks". So has it always been. So shall it always be. Oh well.

      Amanda:

I don't see poor desert people in the news, I see young men, who have had the benefit of education.

I don't see your religious leaders issuing any fatwas calling for an end to violence. Instead I see your nations spewing hatred on the Jews and America.

I don't see the political leaders calling for an end to violence. Instead I see leaders with their own agenda, which includes taking our money and then ignoring our words. They incite their own people with hatred to create some kind of sick unity, which will end up biting them in the end.

There are a few realities here that nobody is talking about. The Middle East sided with the Nazis during World War II, but we did not occupy their lands, because your countries were too poor and did not represent a threat. But, your leaders wanted the fight. They wanted to take over the world with the Nazis. Funny thing is, the Nazis did not consider Muslims to be a part of the master race, so your people would have become slaves or dead in the aftermath. The salvation of the Middle East was America prevailing in WWII.

Your nations were poor and illiterate. Your nations could not get their natural resources (oil) out of the ground, so they asked us to help them develop their resources. Not only did we develop those resources, we passed along the technology and tools and we also became one of their greatest trading partners. We did not fix the price of oil; we allowed the markets to establish the price. We had cheap oil in this country before we developed your oil fields.

Your lands had very low population and lots of starvation. The USA and our NGOs (non-Government Organizations) came to your countries and inoculated your population against many health scourges and we provided food to help stop the deaths. Now, years later, most middle eastern countries have had population explosions because of this heartfelt assistance. We helped your countries and your countries want us to die. Nice pay back!

Bickering between OPEC nations caused the collapse of OPEC and an epic recession in my home state of Texas that lasted for 10 years and robbed our state of years of productivity. That recession caused more than a million people to leave Houston. Hundreds of thousands of homes were lost to abandonment, banks went out of business. Many people committed suicide because of the depth of the problem. Most of my adult life has been impacted by the stupid acts of Muslims. Let us count, the Iranian Hostage Crisis, OPEC, the collapse of OPEC, Plane hijacking, Two attacks on the World Trade Center (the second being 911, that killed thousands), Attack on the US Cole, Bombing of Pan Am flight 103, shoe bombs, underwear bombs, attack on US embassies, attack on US military bases. Gee, this does sound like a peaceful people.

Middle Eastern leaders have been a joke, Sadam Hussein, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Bashar Hafez al-Assad. What a bunch of clowns, who we allowed to provoke us because we believe in Sovereignty.

We also believe in free speech and not murdering our family members for infidelity.

You want to characterize these acts as isolated acts of stupid desert people. I think these acts were planned and paid for by the educated business people of the Middle East, to include but limited to Osama Bin Laden.

If you want to convince Americans of your peaceful nature, you could start by creating a dialog in your own countries about proper behavior in the world, and educating your masses in peaceful behavior.

You think China is your savior, better think again. America built this world, and we saved the world from tyranny, then we shared it with the other inhabitants. We created the UN to protect individual rights and life. We have protected even the worst leaders because of our belief in Sovereignty. The only inhabitants that have showed gross disrespect for us and the rule of law and the rule of their own religion is the Muslims in the Middle East.

The Middle East is in great need of a living leader who can create a religious reframation.

What percentage of the Muslims living at the US are Currently Serving in the US Military. And don't lie, I have the Offical DOD Numbers.

I never said 'currently serving'. We have had Muslims in our country for all 200+ years of our history, and we do have Muslims who serve in our military. I personally don't know the exact numbers. If you have current numbers, I would like to see them. Would you possibly also have the numbers of Muslims who have died in service of our country throughout all wars and conflicts? I assume from your mention of tours that you are someone highly placed in the department of defense, to have access to those numbers--though I urge you to please don't tell me if it would violate an NDA.

And this is one person out of how many Muslims who have served/are serving in our military? Has it occurred to you that Muslims who are serving may not practice their faith openly because of prejudice and distrust?

I have a handful of American Muslim friend; they say the pledge with pride, and consider themselves Americans first. They don't like the 'hyphenated-American designation.

You might define it as a failing of my character that I rarely ever believe what I am 'told'. I usually prefer to go find out for myself, and even then my opinions are formed based on my own experiences. I use the word radicalist/extremist because I don't know exactly how many there are, or where they are, so I don't use the word majority because I don't know for certain if they ARE the majority. I would guess not since we have never before had a massive problem with Muslims in our country blowing things up. To my knowledge they didn't blow things up here during the Vietnam era, or at points further in our past--only recently around the 80's and up when we started getting involved in affairs in the Middle East has this suddenly become an issue. I have friends who are Muslim, people who ride the same bus I do to work are Muslim, and my company has Muslim business partners who we entertain here for meetings. Not one of them has ever tried to blow anything up or espoused killing anyone, or even told me I'm going to hell for my belief system.

      STOP YOUR TAQIYA Amanda-2017567,

Feel free to consider me a liar. My opinions are my own, and I have a right to believe what I want to believe, just as you do--my belief system says there is no one true way, and so I try to keep an open mind. You are free to disagree with me, as I am free to disagree with you. I will not 'shout' at you in all caps, or try to insist my way is the only one, or even that you should agree with what I said.

Whoa, hold on here. My belief system does not have a nation. We don't have religious leaders. We have been on this planet for far longer than Jews, Christians or Muslims--humans were worshipping the Great Mother back when humankind was still painting on cave walls.

Practically every belief system on this planet has tried to wipe us out , and we no longer have, nor do we espouse, a centralized leadership like the Christians have with the Pope. We don't even have written texts of our beliefs anymore due to the Greeks, Romans, Jews, Christians, and Muslims torturing us, killing us, burning us at the stake and burning our gramarye. What we have is a set of precepts that have survived the millennia, and each practitioner is free to live their lives by the guidance of their own consciences and these precepts that have survived the ages.

And if you want to get really technical about it--As I was abandoned as n infant at an international orphanage with no paperwork, I don't have a country. I don't have a 'nation'. I'm a citizen of the US by virtue of adoption, but Homeland Security can revoke that at any time and that would leave me right back where I started; undocumented and stateless, having no rights and no citizenship anywhere. I am a citizen of the planet first, and a citizen of a nation only by that nation's sufferance.

So all these Mideast muslims hate America and must demonstrate, kill and destroy to prove this? And yet we are innundated with muslims trying to get into America to live? If they hate us so much, why would they want to come here? And as for the comment by Amanda, "talk is cheap", muslims claim they decry violence and killing and it's only a small percentage of radicals. But of course if this was true mainstream islam who claim to be peaceful would have stopped the terrorism from "this small radical group of terrorists" long, long ago. The truth is, mainstream muslims have taken not one single measurable action to stop terrorism, they only spout cheap talk when forced, but never any action. We should get everyone of our people out of these hate filled, failed, dirty, illiterate muslim countries now...and if they want to kill each other over thier religious beliefs, let them have at it!

All of this death and destruction over a film - so they claim. It appears the rioting average-joe Muslim is easily controlled and manipulated and they can't think for themselves. It seems for those so easy to react to a film are just as easily incensed over anything at all and they do not require a valid reason to be so foolish. Who is to say that the next offense won't be fabricated by another Muslim implant in the USA in order to continue stoking the fire of war? I do not consider all Muslims terrorists nor do all Americans hate Muslims. I do believe a religion that promotes such intolerance of others and that is so easy to manipulate it's followers will stop trying to bomb airports and get into the movie business if it suits their agenda and creates a larger stir with so little effort.

That Movie was an ABUSE of free speech. It did not follow our idea of Freedom of Religion or RESPECT for other people. This Used to be what was good about America. Have all Americans forgotten the real values of this country? See all the reactions of posters showering hate over Muslims in America. People who moved here to get away from abuse...to a country that is supposed to stand for something better.

Freedom of speech only applies if it follows the rules of RESPECT for all People of Color and Religion. Thats American. Others are no better than the Taliban or all other terrorists. Justice means we follow our own rules, daily and in the courts...Justice means we are fair, honest, equal and show some integrity. Clearly, to me, America has lost this sense. Bankers do whatever they want including printing money from the Federal Reserve for themselves, Wall Street makes fake papers to trade in scams that bring down the whole world, Laws are ignored by the rich who people just wink at, The Supreme Court is bought off, the Military occupies countries just so Corporations can make money off them. America has lost her Justice.

The anger at America, even now by the UK and Germany is because America has lost her JUSTICE and integrity. That such a film came out of this country is just another insignificant abusive example...but Unites others to lash back at EVERYTHING. No American belongs in Afghanistan.

Julea, Your kidding right?? Since when did wall street have anything to do with this? That is Greed pure and simple and it is world wide. Not just in America. I promise you others out side of America raked in the money with all that too.

But getting back on topic. There is free speech and press in America. While I do not agree with this video, any idiot can make a video and call it free speech. That is the Law. People demonize Christianity every day in the paper, New and the Internet. You could say that that is not Justice and Honest either. Where are the Values there? Come on you have to see this for what it was and a group of individuals whose soul purpose was to make things worse. They are not true Christians, just using the heading to get a rise of the Muslims. And they feel for it.

And So you know, it was made by an Egyptian. Any coincidence there? it could have well be a Muslim sent here to do this to give an excuse for the middle east to riot and kill our people. They sent people over here before to kill our people. Remember 9/11? Our government should investigate this man and make sure that he was not sent here to do this for the Brotherhood to have a reason to riot. Considering that all this happened on the anniversary of 9/11 I will give you 1 guess.

But I do agree with you, we do not belong in the middle east, just remember that we do not need to be giving the Billions of my tax dollars either. So I say we pull out & take our money with us.

What idiocy is this - what hypocracy? And to think that the majority of liberals/Democrats don't see this is just amazing to me!

Oh, but they do see it just fine.

The operational principle is apparently "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." It is for this reason that secularists, hostile to any significant role for religion in society, find it expedient to champion anything at all that would put a stick in the eye of the dominant (and therefore, from their viewpoint, more menacing) religion in their own society. And so the more reactionary (and even barbaric) outside religion tends to get a smarmy free pass.

They don't think it's fair to judge all muslims by the actions of a few. YET someone in the US makes a low budget piece of crap film (who just so happens to be an Egyptian!!) and it's "Death to America!" They have a horrible double standard. I've believed in judging the individual, and have given every reasonable defense to muslims...but my patience has run out. It's time to withdraw the support, cut off the money, and get out of the middle east! They obviously have totally missed the message of their prophet...to be tolerant and peaceful. They are killing in his name. It's not just one group or even one country. This is wide spread hatred and violence when the US was no more responsible for that piece of garbage film than anything else any individual does. In our country, we have freedom of speech. It is often abused and goes overboard, but that is the way it is. Their violence is NOT going to change our constitution! All it's going to do is sway people who were on the fence to dislike muslims and their violence and inability to realize that non-muslims don't have to follow their 'rules'. The ones that already didn't like muslims are having their feelings validated. The ones defending muslims are running out of fuel for the defense. They're making everything much, much worse. They need to go home and worry about being good muslims and stop expecting that the rest of the world is going never say anything bad about them. They need to reflect on how their actions are shaping perceptions around the world. Islam is now being seen (even more) as a violent, backwards religion that insists that everyone in the world play by their rules. Sorry, folks, but that's just not going to happen!!

Oh...but it is happening! Haven't you been listening to the White House spokesman, Carney or your Secretary of State or UN Ambassador? They are falling all over themselves to see who can apologize more and better for the inconvenience of free speech. The same people who have a cow over someone putting up a cross or creche and term a crucifix in urine to be art worthy of public funding have no problem "understanding" that any negative reference to Mohammed is cause for riot.

Radical Islam is starting to grasp at straws because it's all the have left. I have faith that the rest of the civilized world will turn their backs on them in time. Christianity also had it's shining moments over the years, and grew out of it. It would be a big help if the supposedly peaceful majority of Islam would rise up and soundly smite the radicals and show them the err of their ways. They could do it in a heartbeat, if they wanted to. But I think that way down deep inside, they would like to see some sort of Islamic rule in place in a major portion of the world if not all of it. Until Islam cleans it's own closet, they will not have my respect. Respect is earned by actions, not words. They will have my consideration, but nothing more.

The male species, and what biological group they belong to is still not known, tell women to put on a bomb vest and then blow themselves up, are they promised x amount of virgin males when they get to paradies? That goes to show you how dumb the female species is and that the male species have no B...s to do it themselves...

Ahh..Doubt the females are given much of a choice in the matter..???!!?? I also doubt they are promised anything other than a swift, relatively painless death. That probably seems so much more appealing than living with these sick SOB's that they fight over which of them get's to put the bomb on and which have to remain alive and miserable!!!

I have even seen a video where the women they USED were mental incompetent - probably some form of mental retardation. THAT is just sick, sick and oh yeah - SICK. I still do not understand how someone can think - That sounds like a good idea. Yes I will blow myself up for you.

The first thing I would ask is - If it's such a good idea, how come YOU don't go first?! They are one sick twisted messed up people. Fundamentally down to the DNA "messed up". No respect or any kind of feelings for them - nothing. Yes I know it has nothing to do with religion - just the fact they get to maim and destroy is what drives them to wake up in the morning!

I do know enough history to know that that area USED to be called The Cradle of Civilization. Well I am glad it moved on.

Any god who would demand his followers to blow themselves up and take the lives of innocent men, women and children must be evil and therefore must also be Satan! That would make Muhammad the Anti-Christ! Just saying!

If you are going by the timing most people claim in the Bible, most scholars understand that the ages given in the Bible are exaggerations meant to represent "a real long time" and not actually mean 800 years. There are so many things written in the Bible that were just ways of saying things back then that people take literally today, like the whole virgin birth thing, back 2000 years ago, that meant a woman's first birth, not that she was giving birth to a child as a virgin who never had sex.

And yes, as far as the Bible goes I take "seven days and seven nights" with a grain of salt.

It depends on who is to rebuild the temple. Didn't the Muslims rebuild a temple upon the old Jewish temple already?

Too bad we can't take some suicidal psychotic convicts we have locked in solitary who would be willing to allow themselves to be strapped with about 75 pounds of C4 and sent to the countries and set them free in their largest cities and markets and blow the sh*t out of everything and everyone.

Turn about is fair play. Let's take the game to the player.

I say the hell with it. The muslims and islamists want a war, a jihad, let's give it to them. This has been boiling over for hundreds if not thousands of years.

Sometimes, a thing just doesn't belong in a place you put it...it just doesn't fit or isn't right.

That thing is islam and muslims who follow it. They are a scourge on the planet. They are the square peg trying to fit into the round whole that is the world.

They are always rioting, always killing, always beheading someone. This thing, "islam", is not a "religion", it is a cult of hatred, practiced 5 times daily, by people who pray to, and follow, a known pedophile and child rapist, muhammad (who took a 9 year old girl for a wife for those who don't know and that muslims choose to ignore). The main goal of their "religion" is to spread across the planet making others accept their belief of hatred and their twisted shariah law. They force governments into changing their laws to accept shriah law. Islam, as a belief, doesn't work unless all infidels and "non-believers" are left on the side of the road with their heads off.

Quran (2:191-193) – "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]… but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah."

Quran (2:216) – "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not."

Quran (3:151) – "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority"

Quran (9:14) – "Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace…"

Quran (9:29) – "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

Quran (61:4) – "Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way"

Quran (61:9) – "He it is who has sent His Messenger (Mohammed) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam) to make it victorious over all religions even though the infidels…

Would you think for one minute, if the anti-American sentiment spreads to the U.S., do you think "Arab-Americans" would side with us???? Hell no, they would attack from within. Their "religion" tells them so.

These are a race of people who shout "Allahu Akhbar", (god is great), everytime a bomb goes off, or a person is killed. Try to find a video of an actual beheading...and watch in amazement as they take orgasmic pleasure shouting "Allahu Akhbar" repeatedly as the act is carried out.

And please, stop with the statement, "but these are just radical islamists". Try telling that BS to someone who cares. This is islam and the muslim culture that perpetrates this. Have you ever once heard a so called "non-radical islamist" ever once decry or condemn any attack that has ever occurred against the U.S. by muslims????

These are people who will drag a 16 year old girl out of her house and stone her to death for being raped and sullying the family name or god forbid...have sex with a boy of another religion. "Honor killings", I could spend an hour just writing about that.

This is a race of barbaric creatures and the time has come to stop coddling them and kowtowing to them. It is obvious...you hate us!....well...you know what? WE HATE YOU TOO!

You want your armageddon, your jihad against "The Great Satan"? Bring it on, myself and others will happily rub our ammunition in pork chops and pigs blood.

The answer is simple...get off OIL..and start buying the electric car...you will see a big change in Islam when the Iran and Saudi Arabia start seeing Oil trade below $60 dollars a barrel and EV sales increase...and Americans say to Ford, get off your assets and put an electric car in the showroom...but as long as they know Americans are addicted to the opec tailpipe those US dollars will keep funding the radical clerics and there cause for world domination.

We have plenty of oil to drill here. Create jobs and keep our $ in the US. Let the muslims wonder what the happened to our US $'s going into their Tanks? As long as politicians are getting $ from them, it won't happen.

North America, even just with current technology, can be energy self-sufficient as far as the eye can see. If electric cars are to be part of that mix, sobeit but government needs to get out of the business of dictating which technologies are preferred. Frankly, trucks and busses running on natural gas are a far more promising technology at this point.

I'm halfway there. I drive a Prius. I worked in Saudi Arabia for 2 years and know what those people are like. The fact that I drive a vehicle that gets 50 mpg should tell you something...

Got to love those religions where the men are cowards and make the women do their dirty work for them.

Got to love those religions that claim to be the religions of peace and kill and harm innocents.

Got to love those religions that believe he words from their invisible god and put into writing by a man are truer than someone elses invisible gods words...

                                  Yup..got to love religions....

                                  Religion is big business. Period

I would wager that Religion is the largest business in the world.

What a terrible tragedy for those who were killed. I hope their families and loved ones will be surrounded by all the strength and support they need in the days ahead. It is one thing to end up dying unexpectedly. Quite another because someone else has targeted your loved one simply because some created a piece of film that others chose to find unacceptable. Imagine, dying because ideas were allowed to be expressed. Where has that ever happened before in history on earth?

Seems to me, if one has faith in their holy prophet, his incredible divine role on earth and his ways of peace, they would know there was nothing in the world anyone could ever do to stop his great work from spreading. For it would be Allah's will his word goes forth. So, trying to kill any who said or did anything, actually is demonstrating ones lack of faith in their prophet and Allah to handle things, isn't it?And he never said kill those who ever say anything about me in the future. In fact he wanted his body hid so it wouldn't become a shrine. Guess this is really the middle east's form of macho man after the fact.Oh, wait...send in the women and kids. The men are needed for the live stock trading and arguments.

Jeff N.-1053549 Any system of ideas can be manipulated and used by power. Just look at Stalin, he tried to wipe out religion with his non-religion views, killing over 50 million people in the process, following Lenin's views. If anyone had a chance to create a society without an invisible "being" and true way of life unburdened by such silly ideas surely he did. But it failed miserably for the same basic reason every other ruthless dictator always does. It isn't the religions that are the issue. It's man's continual problem of abuse of power and control of others for his own riches and gain. Period. You don't need faith.

YEP a bus full of tourists and local workers had something to do with the stupid video. STOP with all the finger pointing and just accept yourselves as you are, hateful, mindless , disrespectful creatures on earth. (certainly not human) AS humans have a heart, mind, morals (this is not meant solely for the radical muslims, it's meant for ANY one that has no respect for another HUMANS life),

The group that conducted this attack was Pakistan's main proxy against Soviet forces in the 80s. They failed to make headway after the Soviets left and the Pakis dropped them in 1994 in favor of the Taliban. Their leader, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, was known as the "Butcher of Kabul" in the early 90s for raining down rockets on Kabul and killing 10,000 people... rockets courtesy of Pakistan.

I'm so tired of all this being blamed on that stupid video. It was out on YouTube in early July if not earlier. Get our people out of those countries, stop all aid and let them deal with their own problems. Way too many Americans have died for other countries problems.

Seriously, we definetly do need to decrease our dependence on oil, foreign or domestic.

A majority of our oil does not come from the ME. Only about 15% comes from there. Most of it comes from right here in North America. Research.
