Subscribe to RSSHong Kong property and shipping magnate Cecil Chao Sze-tsung announced he would offer HK$500 million (about $65 million) to the man who can woo and marry his 33-year-old daughter, Gigi Chao, the South China Morning Post reported.
"It is an inducement to attract someone who has the talent but not the capital to start his own business," Chao told the BBC.
"I don't mind whether he is rich or poor. The important thing is that he is generous and kind-hearted," he added. "Gigi is a very good woman with both talents and looks. She is devoted to her parents, is generous and does volunteer work."
According to the Post report, the announcement came just one week after Chao's daughter revealed she had married her female partner of seven years, Sean Eav, in France earlier this year.
The tycoon, 76, told the Post the reports of his daughter being married were "false." According to the article, same-sex marriage is not legally recognized in Hong Kong, although civil unions are performed in France.
Chao, whom the Post describes as "Hong Kong's pre-eminent playboy tycoon," told the BBC that Gigi Chao was single and needed a "good husband." Chao has never married himself, and he once claimed to have slept with 10,000 women, the South China Morning Post reported.
According to the BBC, Chao said he wouldn't force Gigi to marry a man against her will.
Gigi Chao runs Haut Monde Talent, a modeling and public relations company. She is the first of three children that Chao had with different women, according to the Global Post.

I really hope his daughter doesn't go for this crap. He needs to get his nose out of her love life and worry about his own. To think that he would rather see her unhappy, pretending to be something she is not all so she can conform to some idiotic societal norm, is absolutely astounding! He should win the award for worlds most craptacular father, seriously.
Of all the idiotic, shameless, and pathetic publicity stunts I've heard of, this one leads the pack. This filthy-rich tycoon, like a lot of his ilk, has absolutely no sense of decency. He supposedly wants to buy a fake hubby for a daughter already committed to her spouse and an instant worldwide media circus resulted. His daughter must be mortified. I hope she and her wife are not secretly in on this deal out of a desperate need for money, which can drive people into the most degrading things.

I know bein' a random black guy I probably would get speared by her father before taken up but.. I read this and I couldn't help but think to myself "I was just IN Hong Kong and I didn't see this but I had the funniest feeling I was missing something the whole time I was there. FML".
I have often found it strange when people are winding down in the twilight of their lives they often seems to be overtaken by good sense.
While he was spreading himself i am sure he had no problem being called a "playboy" and wore it with a badge of honor. Now with all his money he decides he wants a legacy. You mean all the money and the many tryst did not bring fulfillment. Go figure!
Understandably, he is trying to resolve his issues through his daughter, who has taken a -u-turn. If living our lives simply by what brings us personal gratification as a life maxim, why so many reach their waning days and come to the realization that was not the best choice.

Hello Mr Chao and GIGI well what a funny way to meet you . I find this all most interesting , I myself have never married and want to learn chinese , my chinese friends in Hainan Island gave me this name , I like learning languages .
