KABUL -- Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai said on Thursday that the U.S.-led war on militancy would "not be successful,” and accused Western media of waging “psychological warfare” on his country.
The outgoing leader said U.S. efforts to defeat the Taliban would fail “from Afghanistan’s view” because it was being fought in Afghan villages, rather than against insurgents based in neighboring countries - an apparent allusion to Pakistan.
He said Kabul would only sign a cross-border security pact with Pakistan aimed at ironing out security differences when Afghans can be certain that "suicide bombers, terrorists, weapons and cross-border shelling" would stop.
Joint US-Afghan operations are becoming more common, and so are the risks. NBC's Lester Holt reports.
Karzai was speaking at a press conference at his Kabul garden palace which was broadcast live on Afghan state television.

He told reporters he would hold presidential elections on time in 2014 - when his term will end - despite a continuing insurgency and concerns about a simultaneous NATO combat troop exit.
"The election will definitely happen. Go on and choose your own favorite candidate. My term, if prolonged by even a day, will be seen as illegitimate," Karzai said.
On Saturday night, an Afghan soldier approached Americans, killing a soldier and a contractor; with that, the number of soldiers killed in Afghanistan is around 2,100 in the United States' 11-year-war in the country. Insider attacks have become increasingly common – and no one seems to have a good answer about how to stop them. NBC's Lester Holt and Richard Engel report from Kabul.
Karzai's increasingly unpopular government has been mulling a change in election timing to avoid overlapping with the drawdown of U.S.-led NATO forces due to be completed by the end of 2014, when security is handed to Afghan forces.

Opposition parties had expressed concern that Karzai might act outside the constitution on poll timing, or try to install an ally as his successor to maintain an influence on power.

Karzai also took aim at foreign media outlets, which he accused of painting a "doomsday scenario" of Afghanistan after the NATO pullout, despite promises of international aid and security assistance from Western military backers.

He said international media were conducting "psychological warfare" against the country's international reputation by suggesting it would fall apart after the NATO withdrawal and that the Taliban would likely return to power.
Karzai: US media launched psychological war & propaganda against Afghanistan to undermine people's self confidence "not something allies do"
— Quentin Sommerville (@sommervillebbc) October 4, 2012
BBC journalist Quentin Sommerville said Karzai told the conference: “If the objective of this propaganda campaign is to show that Afghanistan is weak and undermine people's self confidence, this is not something allies do.”

OK fine lets stop wasting lives and money and get out now.
They said;
The outgoing leader said U.S. efforts to defeat the Taliban would fail “from Afghanistan’s view”
Well, they one thing right. According to "them", we'll fail...
He is delusional!
Get out, get out now, don't look back.
Ron Paul--2012
We should have made peace with Taliban 10 years ago after they lost the war. That was our strongest position. Instead we created a puppet government of Karzai the Crook and his gang of 40,000 thieves. We have been paying for that stupidity ever since. Ultimately Karzai is right. There is no military 'solution' for Afghanistan. But the US military industrial complex loves what we do there.
Inept and corrupt Karzai needs to go he and his cohorts whines too much to stay in power. The current Afghan government already stashed billions overseas to live comfortably once they are no longer part of the ruling clique. Can't wait to see what Karzai et-all will do once the US is gone from Afghanistan, he needs all the lucdk he can get and all the blames to launch to US> THe US gov need to withdraw now and not look back how Karzai and his cohorts will stand up. They all will scatter allover the world saving their neck with ill gotten billions in their pockets and let Afghanies sink further in mayhem and savagery back to the 7th century stone age rule.
Karzai should probably stay out of the poppy fields for awhile. He is delusional about many things
We could defeat the taliban if we were willing to fight on their level. Go door to door and tell men if you don't fight the infidels with us, we'll kill your family...and oh yeah...if you happen to die fighting, you get 40 virgins in heaven. What do you think an uneducated goat-herder is going to do?
In one way Karzai is right. We do need to stop deluding ourselves into thinking that Pakistan is an ally in this war. They have openly allowed the Taliban and other terrorist/militant groups to operate in Pakistan and to use the country as a base for launching attacks into Afghanistan. It is time to call Pakistan what it is, a state supporter of terrorism, and take the appropriate action. To continue to call Pakistan an ally and send them billions in aid dollars is a complete joke. Elements within the Pakistani ISI have been providing intelligence support to the Taliban, Haqqani Network, and other terrorist groups all along. It is time that the US administration openly admit this and do something about it instead of continuing with the fiction that they are an ally.
The thing that Karzai is wrong about is if he thinks that Afghanistan has any hope of maintaining any kind of central government once the US leaves. As it stands now the Karzai government has little control within the capital of Kabul and absolutely no control elsewhere. Outside the capital the control is in the hands of local warlords and tribal leaders, not the central government. Once the US pulls out there will be battles between these local factions until the Taliban once again gains control. This will happen by the Taliban either buying the support of these local leaders or threatening them to get them to go along. There is little hope of the Karzai government, or any other elected government maintaining control. The only way to gain control over the various local warlords and tribal leaders is through force and this force will likely come in the form of the Taliban. It does not matter if the US pulls out now or ten years from now, the result will be the same. It is time to just cut our losses and pull out now before any more American lives are lost in this hopeless attempt at nation building.
Karzai is not condemning the US or undermining the goal, he is merely stating a fact...implicitly. Pakistan is the 'X' in his staement, the 'unmentionable'. Pakistan is where Bin Laden was hiding. Pakistan is the origination of the Taliban culture. Pakistan is the center for Madrassa Jihadist education. Pakistan...Pakistan Pakistan. The name keeps rising to the surface. Is it any wonder that Pakistan was the only coutry to recognize the Taliban government?
Perhaps the only way to defeat this form of brain rabies is to restroy the jihadist factories in Pakistan, i.e. the madrassas.
Pakistan is a nation with a mental illness that dates back centuries, and today they are armed with nuclear weapons.
Pakistan is unable to control their own national border. The ($1000000) question arises, Are they too weak? or incompetent? or unwilling? or duplicitous? Or, are they secretly condoning?
We need to stop spilling American blood for this corrupt ingrate. Fifteen minutes after we leave, Karzai is a dead man.
Is anyone really surprised by this? We got what we wanted. Let's go home.
Charles the Hammerhead: "Pakistan is a nation with a mental illness that dates back centuries, and today they are armed with nuclear weapons."
Charles, I'm guessing you already know this but Pakistan has only been around as a "nation" since 1947.
From Wikipedia:
Let's get out and close the purse. They don't want us there so let them defend themselves from the rest of the world on their own dime none of the billions we've ever sent them went to help the public just directly into the governments pockets.
Karzai is right. Pakistan will be the downfall of any attempt by Afghans to build a proper nation.
And JD is also right, at least in his first paragraph. It's time to stop calling Pakistan an ally and treat them appropriately. I don't, however, think all is lost. There's still time for the average Afghan to recognize what's really going on, as the Sunnis did in Iraq when they rejected al-Qaeda, and stand up to the Taliban.
Don't hold your breath though.
Secretary of State, John Quincy Adams, 1821
Right Rev. Karzai wrote the book on "Things allies don't do". (Max@1.15- that's an oldie, but a goody!)
Wow I never put those two things together before it all makes sense now.
No sh*t Karzai, now give back the millions you stole and lets get out of this craphole!
@Al... Karzai did not steal all of that money. It was given to him by the US officials who wasted more than 2 trillion dollars on war in Afghanistan in the last 11 years and are unable to account for hundreds of billions. Who is a bigger crook? Who is more stupid? Not Karzai for sure. We are dumber than a rock because we are still there, continuing to lose men and money.
Maybe he should send in his army to Pakistan and attack the Taliban there? Oh yea I forgot much of his army is busy killing Americans!
Maxwell's Silver Hammer
You are myopic. Pakistan is a name only. Before there was Pakistan it was the Islamic Moghul Empire that covered a similar location. The Islamic culture in Pakistan is a direct decendant of the Moghuls. Madrassas have been around in the area since the first Islamic invaders.
With friends like Karzai, who needs enemies ?
all the Washington experts, sitting in their executive chairs overlooking the Potomac river, are all falling for the same lie; talk to the ground troops coming home, they will tell you the Taliban controls the country now, the troops we are training are mostly Taliban or Taliban sympathizers; get the hell out now , do not waste any more of our solder's lives, our money that we must borrow from China.
I think that we should do something decisive for once." We should sh*t or get off the pot". Either we should actually do a total war against the enemy which means to fight with gusto like we did in WWII and let the Military and the Intelligence Community run the war. This means to come to grips with how to see the enemy and therefore how to fight the enemy. How to see the enemy is to admit that Islam is NOT a religion but a political party disguising itself as a religion. Remember religions are about life after death not about world domination. The Muslims are fighting to control the world and the sooner the west realizes that the sooner we stop falling for the "giving them freedom of religion" bit and see they are a competing political party as much as the CDU in Germany or the Nazis of the past. We knew the Nazis were a direct threat to America and we went to war without reservation. Hence my second point, how to fight them. We should fight with all we have got. This means instead of small targeted attacks which has little psychological effect on the enemy we should do old fashioned "Carpet Bombing" like we did in WWII. War is an all or nothing preposition. When you go to war you fight with ALL you have got or the other choice is to pull out entirely. If we are not willing to fight this war correctly than we should go home right now and have Nothing to do with the middle east unless our ally Israel is attacked.
@Anakin Skywalker:
So your "solution" to terrorism is to target all 1.5 billion people who call themselves Muslims? Does that include all of the men, women, and children who go to work, raise children, and go to school just like their American counterparts and have nothing to do with politics, terrorism, or war? I hate to break the news to you, but if you want to target all 1.5 billion Muslims like that, well... that's terrorism. Do you consider yourself a terrorist?
And after we leave, Karzai will fail. Hope he has his life insurance paid up!
Liberal College Girl
My point is simple either we consider these people an enemy or we do not consider these people an enemy. If we consider them an enemy than we should treat them as an enemy. If we do not consider them an enemy than we should leave their lands and let them live in peace and do what they want in their own lands. My main point was to decide whether or not we consider them enemy or not and that we should act decisively according to our decision. If we decide they are not an enemy we leave their lands with the exception if they invade Israel because Israel is an ally. We do have to stand by our friends. Sorry you did not get my point. I did state the option to pull out entirely. I just want America to TRULY count the cost of war and what it REALLY means to go to war. Wars are not half baked things to do as a pass time. They are serious battle engagements where lives are lost. In WWII America understood the Cost of going to war. Today America has forgotten what war really is. We go to a country and Semi fight them doing enough to get them angry at us but never go all the way or Not go at all. That was my whole point. If you go to war you fight with ALL you have and with No reservations because That is what War is. Ask any soldier. If you want peace than you do the actions of peace which is Not to invade their lands in the first place. If you see me as a terrorist just because I understand the True price of warfare than I can not change your mind anyway. But if you just misunderstood my purpose of my statement than I hope that this answer makes my point more clear.
With a retarded Gay clown like Hamid Karzai as the Afghan President, the Taliban does not need a propaganda ministry. They just broadcast him.
Looks like the CIA chose poorly in 2001, but then again, Hamid was the only Afghan anyone in the CIA actually knew.
Hamid Karzai may well be right. In which case, when the U.S. finallty leaves Afghanistan, he can assume his new title: Ex-President of the Green Zone.
Good Morning Bill,
the Green Zone was in Iraq, but I could see Karzai being the "ex-Prez of the Poppy Fields" title!
Um..... I'm stationed in Kabul right now. I stay a block away from the Presidential Palace and the area is called, wait for it.......... the Green Zone. Bill, carry on.
My apologies Denver Bill and Rick - seems the caffeine in my coffee had not kicked in as yet!
Jack
Hi Jack, Thanks Rick,
I've been known to shoot from the lip before, so it's nice to stand vindicated in this case. ;)
Karzai, was fighting the Taliban long before we came along. He was so successful at holding them off that they had offered him a high Government Position to surrender to them. The Taliban DID NOT have entire control of Afghanistan as you may think. He fought them as we are doing right now but it is a no win warfare situation. It seams to be much like Trench Warfare of WWI. The problem here is we with our attack on Afghanistan have made it possible to be infiltrated all around. Bing Karzai and what you will learn of the man will give you respect for him. He is the only intelligent decission thst Bush made.
Denver,
That was my first thought also. You aren't alone. LOL
So, what's newsworthy in this article? The fact that the U.S. will never win the war. Numerous people have been saying the very same thing for years. Does anyone in government bother to listen or even care? No! They do what they want when they want. Will it ever change? Yes! It will get progressively worse.
Karzai can bad mouth the U.S. all he wants, because we have made him a very wealthy man. Does he even care? No! Is there anything we can do about it. Yes! Leave that God forsaken place and rebuild our own country, instead of worrying about the opium crop or the lithium deposits. The opium fields can continue to be managed by the CIA, if they so desire, and if not, they can leave as well and turn them back over to the Russians, so they can manage the profits. China will mine the lithium, manufacture the batteries, and sell them to us anyway. After all, China manufactures just about everything we purchase anyway. So, what's new? Nothing!
If we do not suceed as he says then here is one soluntion - leave now...do not give them another dime - but tell them that if they cannot control the Taliban and other such groups then we will come back with the full force of everything we have and take total control of the situation. Enough money and lives have been wasted on people who only use us for what they can get from us without so much as a thank you. Let them be a third world country, but put a huge warning on them that if we need to come back and fix things that it will not be pretty and we will not play politics the next time.....we will do what we have to do and not worry about the politics of keeping CARZied and his other tent dwellers happy.
No, we should not go back in with full force and everything we have got. We should, if necessary, go in with special operations in narrowly targeted strikes and eliminate our enemies. The Afghans can just worry about their enemies themselves.
For the most part I have to agree with Anita on this. The Taliban is spreading in the region like Roaches. In fact, that was my opinion from the beginning of our actions in the region back in 2001. We didn't have enough intel on the locations of Al Qaida, if they were in fact IN Afghanistan, which I had my doubts, even then. The Taliban was posturing, in much the same way as Saddam did in 2003. We should have worked on setting up a limited strike action, instead of protracted war.
So, in 2010, we find out that Bin Laden wasn't even IN Afghanistan, and had been, in fact, living in Pakistan. He'd been there, by the timeline of when the compound he was killed in, was built, since at least 2005. Al Qaida and the Taliban were attacking Afghan and US interests from across the border in Pakistan, then running back until the US worked an agreement that allowed us to follow them. Even then it was limited largely to Drone strikes.
The ironyof the situation being, how many men out there wouldn't jump at the chance to keep women as slaves? Not me, of course, my Mom would kick my ass.
This fundamental excuse for a religious perspective is nothing but an excuse to subjugate women, and validate masculine brovado.
Karzai is right, to an extent. You can't fight an enemy when they simply drift to the next country, which, for political reasons, you have decided you will not chase that enemy into.
State police used to have this issue when crooks would flee into another state. This led to the FBI.
The US also had this problem in SE Asia when the Viet Cong would just go into Cambodia to avoid the US military.
The US Government (both parties) have to give our military the authority to pursue the enemy whereever they may go.
Just another failed mission by we the people. We do vote for our representatives, don't we?
Have you not figured it out yet? We elect politicians to represent us, then they go to DC and represent special interest and lobbyist who fund their next campaign.
Here is a list of our "representatives" priorities while in office:
1. Get re-elected.
The rest is so relatively superficial to them, it's not worth mentioning.
It seem like that. Go to the head if the line 321, you got that right on the head!!! This election needs to be wake up call time for DC!!!!
kudos hs....you may have a cookie.
re-elect.......NOBODY
I'll agree too HS. One and done for all politicians. If they want a second term, it is by volunteer only. No pay, no bennies, no big pension, etc.
hs321,
What makes you think WE elect our representatives? Just look at the voting fraud that has been highlighted over the last few weeks...
First: You and I don't elect the POTUS. The Electoral College does.
Second: I have known of at least two people who travel across state lines in order to vote more than one time. I guess this has been a GOP tactic for quite some time.
I have been trying to fugure out why, with all the secure computer software available out there, why you can't vote the same way you pay your bills? Most people have access to a computer, at home or at work. As long as each SSN is logged through secure application, not on the web-site, but through an account process, much like Pay-Pal registers your payment method. That way, one voter would be listed on a nation-wide accountability, and only allowed to vote ONE time.
Well MM, the original comment was about our representatives, not the President.
And I'm certain both sides are guilty of voter fraud to some degree. I can post links to articles where democrats did it as well, but then that's a tad off topic here.
This garbage coming out out of his mouth. Karzai is a real life version of Austin Powers "fat bastard". Cheating his country out of millions and ruining the economy and blaming it on the West and US. Again, we support the wrong jerk. What a waste. It just saddens me that US Soldiers are dying to support his government and that Afghan recruits are killing US Soldiers. Vietnam.
S3usarmy, you are right here, there should be NO excuses for karzai or for obama paying him the kind of money that he gets from us as well as compensation for every time he screams an american soldier has causes some damage. i have read before that the taliban hate karzai and rightfully so. i dont doubt that when our last soldiers are out, karzai will split too with the money he has been paid from us. my son is home from afghan recently and i am thankful. your name on here suggests you are army and if you are, thank you for your service and your sacrifice. it makes me angry that our president refuses to stand up and quite being a weakling and issue an ultimatium to afghan about the killing of our soldiers while our guys are focused on training the afghans to be self sufficient . it is plain murder and it says plenty about a president who doesnt even get upset about it, just says it is not on a regular basis. if the commander in chief of our nation wont stand up for our troops, who do they have to support them. i agree with your post here and karzai is equally as dangerous as the tailiban. past time to get our guys and gals home from there and let them kill themselves.
Amen. Served my country for 30 years US Army and proud of it.
Sorry Karzai, we don't see you as an ally. We see you as a blood sucking leach that has done nothing for Afghanistan. Since you brought up what allies don't do, allies don't promise to fight against their ally like you did when you said you would fight with Pakistan against the U.S. Allies also don't ridicule their ally on the international stage as you have done so many times in the past. Allies don't kill each other like so many of your military and police have done. So Karzai, go slink back under your rock until you can bail out of Afghanistan with the hundreds of millions of dollars that you've stolen from you allies.
I think you will find that the US had a part in the screening process as well. Like I said the only intelligent decission Bush made was in Karzai. His worst decission was to enter Politics.
Karzai is right. Vietnam Part II. An eleven year war. The Taliban & Al Quida are a guerilla army. The do NOT have the tanks, the planes, the guns, the ammo, the highly trained military. They don't need it. They hide among their own people. They hide in neighboring countries. They lay low until they can strike, They use suicide bombers. Like the Viet Cong, they will kill anyone associated with us or even innocent people. Unlike the Vietnamese, who after 100 years of being dominated by the Chinese, the Japanese, the French, and the US and just wanted all dominating, controlling foreign forces and powers out of their countty, something our illustrious leaders did not have a clue about and couldn't be bothered with remembering or studying history, The Taliban and Al Quieda are NOT freedom fighters. They will enslave their own people. An Isalmic Communist - Nazi state. But we never ever tried to win the hearts and minds of the people, we've corrupted the government and hangers on with tons of money. The Afghans who can fight do not even want to fight for their own country. We have been there way too long (11 years). How long does it take to win a war? What are we trying to win? Kill every Taliban? How would we even know? We win one area, move out, they move in. Just like Vietnam. It is TIME to leave with all our troops and all our money and let them figure it out. If the Taliban or Al Queida takes over again, let China and India worry about it. Their the nieghbors. The Taliban and Al Quida can't help but start trouble and create tensions in India and China, where a lot of Muslims live. Karzai is right. We have NOT won anything. They don't even like us. They hate the US, the west, Christians. The want to live in midieval times. Let them. ELEVEN YEARS is LONG ENOUGH. If we had a plan or goals or knew what we wanted to accomplish fine, but whatever that is, it is NOT working.
I think you're exactly right. Our strategy should be to arm the Northern Militia and just let them kill each other with no clear winner. That'll at least keep the Taliban out of power...with the occasional Hellfire missile strike from a drone, courtesy of the USAF.
That's not a bad idea bob. But I also like the idea of going in after 9/11 and laying waste to al qaeda and the taliban, pull out and tell them, if you harbor terrorist that attack the U.S. or our Allies, we're going to come back and do it all over again. And then leave and wait and see if they screw up again.
hs - I also supported the initial invasion in Afghanistan to rout out the Taliban and Al Queida. We could have mopped up that operation within 2 years, but we took our eye off the ball, put Afghanistan into a holding action and allowed time for the native population to grow resentful of our presence. The problem isn't that we go into a country under these circumstances, its often that we just don't know when to leave. Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq (where we never should have been to begin with) and Afghanistan all cases in point.
Well, we helped the Afghans defeat the Russians. After that war, we packed up and left the Afghans in a country in ruins and did nothing of significance to help them. The message they got was that we helped them not because we cared about them, but because we were at war with the Russians. That left a lot of resentment. It did not look good in the international community.
Fast forward to now and the story would be different this time. We wouldn't abandon you after the war, but help you rebuild and setup a more stable government and economy.
Law of Unintended Consequences.
It's time to go. If I were a U.S. soldier, why would I want to go to Afghanistan and put my life on the line for Karzai and a country that's alway been out of control. Russia learned it's lesson and it's time we learn ours. Wasn't Vietnam enough?
hamid is a punk
War on Afganistan millitants? Isn't that what this "War on Terror" is?
well considering the majority of the terrorist were from Arabia that did the 911...that's why every country should guard it's borders...ya hear that mexico...
We got what we went after, bring all our people home and let this God forsake place go to hell, as far as I am concened. They are unappreciative and we can use OUR money here instead of there. I am sick of helping people who then turn around and stab us in the bank. Let them slaughter each other and deal with their own problems.
Let me channel Don Corleone here; "Karzai is a pimp. He could never have outfought Haqqani." Karzai's trying to save his own skin by attacking the very people who saved his skin. He's a coward in a sea of cowards and it's one reason the neocon vision of nation building is a failure. We have to learn to fight like terrorists.
You are right. He is NOT a leader. He got elected president on some election WE forced on the Aghans with an election process we FORCED on the Afgahns. Before the Russia (the Soviet Union) invaded, Afghan was run by local warlords and chieftans, and a capital which pretty much stayed out of local clan control and politics. Russia instilled a centralized, controlling communist government, hated by everyone. The US backed the rebels. some of them radical anti-foreigner, anti-west, anti-Christian, anti-US muslims. When the russians left (defeated), the Taliban gained control in the countryside, most of the country, and marched into Kabul, turning the country into a prison, and allowing Al Quida to set up. When Al Quida attacked us on 9/11, we went in, supported the northern anti Taliban rebels with air strikes and took out the Taliban. WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT THEN. Instead, we stayed (FOR 11 YEARS) and have destroyed any hope of a nuetral, peaceful Afghanistan. IF we stay, for what? If we leave, there is a good chance the Taliban will take over again. This is, in a big way, our fault. We've corrupted the government and ruined any chance for the tribes and clans to work things out.
Where's Code Pink when you need them? I would bet my paycheck if there was a Republican president in office they would be demonstrating in front of the white house and trying to disrupt congress about this war. What a phoney baloney organization.
Sorry Mr. Karzai, you are 3 1/2 years too late in your comment. When the only policy you have in Afghanistan is a 2014 troop pull out. Since January, 51 American troops have been set up to be murdered, and B.O. refuses to provide our troops with more assistance to battle the insurgents because he is dead set on the 2014 pull out only. B.O. has zero effective foreign policies. B.O. belongs in front of the White House with a doobie hanging out of his mouth, a Bob Marley t-shirt on, and holding a sign that says "No More War," he does not belong in our White House!
Please forgive the president for trying to do what 90% of Americans are demanding of him.
Maybe we should bribe him. Seems to have worked for him and others before in the country
you must be kidding MSNBC. Nothing about last nights debate? Was the president really that bad?
MSNBC left their commentary to Slate. Grab the Enquirer, you might get more factual news from them.
Barb
Slate was spot on!
You mean except for the 5 banner headline stories, right??
And huge center photograph??
YES HE WAS the whole thing was nothing but a joke just like 4 yrs. ago . Welcome to the media run goverment. They pushed as hard as they could to put him there and now it is showing what the average American jerk wanted they got. A want to be against a real one!!! Welcome to glit and glamor people another 4 years of him and this country will circle the drain a lot faster.
Romney ran as fast and hard as he could from his own record of hard right economics. How could Obama debate the Invisible Man?
Empty Chair needs to learn that these people will never appreciate our afford. Empty chair inexperience will lead us to no where and it is the same as his economic policy..... I need some one to lead us into PROSPERITY AND TRANSPARENCY... it is just plain common sense.
GOGOBULL you are wrong. You can complain all day long that Obama had no experience, that his only day job was a community organizer but look at the facts. He planned an execute a surge in Afghanistan and is winning. That is true experience. He hilled Osama, something that Bush would not do. Took real guts. He ended the war in Iraq and is bringing troops home from Afghanistan. Obama is a real leader.
O&Joe 12
WAKAMI,you must be smoking something, can't honestly believe under Bush if they knew where that coward Bin laden was hidding he would not have given the okay!!! It all came thru intelligence and the seals watched the compound for a year after getting a tip. They then get the okay thru the pentagon!!! Obama wasn't looking for him the military does that. So don't act like this man is anything special, too busy hobnobbing and playing golf, also don't forget date night, when we close down half the city so he can take big caboose to dinner..
To a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. Romney's advisors are the right wing neocons who got us into Iraq. Can you imagine what their plan is for Iran? God help us! Romney's first solution is to send in the Marines, then talk later. He's out of his depth.
Makes you wonder how much of our US Dollar aid that boob with leave with..
Look at the silver lining, the dollar isn't worth anything!!!
I have to agree. This war is a total waste of time but, if we fail and the Taliban returns, it is because these stone aged wastes of flesh want that lifestyle.
What? Have we fallen behind in our bribery payments to Karzai?
Get out let them fight there own war.
should of turned it into a sheet of glass when the idiots were in the country
Excellent !! You hear that Mr. President... Take the hint!! We are NOT wanted or needed over there. So load up or people and shut down our embassy and leave the sand eaters to rot in their own way in peace!
The Afgahns have been fighting among each other as well as against outside countries for centuries. Never have they been defeated. We have no business being over there trying to force our will on them. We should have been totally out of there two years ago.
I for one am damn sick and tired of paying for the United States to be fighting over there not to mention the constant loss of American troops lives.
I honestly believe most Americans agree with my position. When are our leaders going to start ever listening to what the American public wants? This has nothing to do with our political postions as Americans. 16 trillion $$ in debt and we continue to support crap like this?
Geez....
Of course it will fail - Krazi is one of them, as are the rest. Total extermination is the only viable solution.
It was so refreshing to hear from some of the top brass recently when they finally began to realize "we can't trust these people'.
It's amazing how the common citizenry has known this for nearly 100 years, yet our military leaders are just beginning to realize it.
