After being targeted by the Taliban for speaking out about women's rights, Malala Yousafzai remains in the hospital, recovering from surgery to remove a bullet from her neck. NBC's Amna Nawaz reports.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari ordered Tuesday that the young Pakistani activist who was seriously injured in a shooting by the Pakistani Taliban be sent abroad for medical treatment, the website for Pakistan's Dawn newspaper reported.
Malala Yousafzai, a 14-year-old Pakistani activist who won international acclaim for her work promoting peace, and two other young girls were shot and seriously injured Tuesday, police and hospital officials said.
Local police and hospital officials told NBC News that Malala was shot after leaving her school in the Swat region.
Official sources told Dawn that the single bullet, which hit Malala's head, had pierced down to her backbone.
“We have thoroughly examined her, she is in critical condition. The bullet traveled from her head and then lodged in the back shoulder, near the neck,” a doctor told the AFP agency, according to Dawn, requesting anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to media.
Gunmen hunted down young Malala Yousafzai at her school, shooting her in the head after she dared to criticize the extremists who are ravaging her country. NBC's Amna Nawaz reports.
“Next three to four days are important for her life. She is in the intensive care unit and semi-conscious, although not on the ventilator,” he added, according to Dawn.
“In such a condition, she immediately needs a sophisticated surgical procedure, which is not possible in the country,” sources told Dawn.
Malala was nominated for the International Children's Peace Prize in 2011 for a blog she wrote under a pseudonym for the BBC. She also won the National Peace Prize in Pakistan, was honored with a school named after her, and quickly became an outspoken critic of the Taliban in Pakistan and a public advocate for peace.
In the blog, she chronicled life in the Swat Valley under the brutal and oppressive rule of the local faction of the Pakistani Taliban, who carried out public floggings, hung dead bodies in the streets, and banned education for girls.

Obama her 'ideal' leader
In early 2011, the militants had added Malala to their hit list.
"We wanted to kill her as she was pro-West, she was speaking against Taliban and more important she was calling President Obama as her ideal. She was young but was promoting a Western culture in the Pakhtun populated areas," Ihsanullah Ihsan, the spokesman of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP said Tuesday.

Malala Yousafzai, pictured here at the age of 12 in March 2009, was undergoing surgery after she was shot twice Tuesday.
The Taliban had made a plan for killing her a year ago but were waiting for an opportunity, he told NBC News.
Malala was initially treated at the Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital, in Mingora, the main city of Swat, but was airlifted to a hospital in the larger city of Peshawar.
'New radicals': Pakistan's Generation Y battles to shape country's future
A police official, quoting other students who witnessed the shooting, said some people came in a car and stopped in front of the school and then asked them to identify Malala.
"Since the students already knew about threats to Malala Yousufzai's life, therefore they said they didn't know her," the police officer said.
But he said Malala was shot when she came out of the school and got in a school van.
Americans ignore 'great risks,' travel to Pakistan to protest US drone strikes
The young girl's stark depictions of daily life in Swat -- as Pakistan’s army carried out a massive military operation against the Taliban in the area -- led her to become the first Pakistani girl nominated for the children's peace prize.
She began writing the diary for the BBC when she was just 11.
In one posting on her BBC blog, she wrote: "My younger brother does not like going to school. He cries while going to school and is jubilant coming back home ... He said that whenever he saw someone he got scared that he might be kidnapped. My brother often prays 'O God bring peace to Swat and if not then bring either the U.S. or China here.'"

I wonder why that soccer player Khan is not protesting that girl's shooting?
Headline should read "Cowardly, crazy Taliban shoot innocent young defenseless girl"
Just shows the feudal mentality of these animals...definitely sub-human. We can never civilize these nut jobs. Time to leave immediately and not lose another American soldier's life.
this is a regional conflict. we have our monroe doctrine, let this region have theirs. our founders and constitution have been ignored enough with our continued, reckless meddling in other countries on the other side of the world. millions of pakistanis can get rid of the taliban anytime they care to make the effort.
Is this how these muslim fundamentalist retards get those 40 virgins in heaven or whatever? By murdering little girls?
A freaking cancer on this planet........
This tragedy is just another example of the Taliban mentality. They are anti people who want to learn, work for peace, children, women, growth, knowledge, and every other thing that provides a better life for anyone but their leaders. It wasn't that long ago they beheaded a six year old child for treason and blasphemy. Or the correspondents who try to tell the world about their atrocities. Taliban are a form of mutant humans who worship death (not their own of course) and demand supreme power for themselves or they are determined to kill anyone with a better idea.
Alotta Fagina would compare Blacks and Jews struggles with those of the Taliban? Interesting take on cultures and ethnicity...
Welcome to obama's world!. Should you want to live like the muslims do cast your vote for obama. obama's support for the muslims is supporting the muslim war against wemon.
All anyone has to do is understand Islam, here, how about the guy who was the Co-Founder of the Iranian Army? Let him tell you what Islam is like here : http://www.answersingenesis.org/media/video/ondemand/escape-from-darkness
Because he is an ally of the Taliban. He thinks they will listen to reason. How do you reason with monsters that beleive they are inforcing GOD's will?
My younger brother does not like going to school. He cries while going to school and is jubilant coming back home ... He said that whenever he saw someone he got scared that he might be kidnapped. My brother often prays 'O God bring peace to Swat and if not then bring either the US or China here.'"
Does not it resemble the Diary of Anne Frank under Nazi Germany?
Life under Islamic religious Nazis like Taliban, al-Qaida, MB, Salaffi and so are similar to Nazi Germany!
7.62,
You make absolutely no sense. So, if President Obama is re-elected we are going to have the Taliban running around shooting young girls? All women will be wearing burkas or niquabs? That the Taliban will be our new police force? Really, you really believe that? Fascinating...crazy...but fascinating.
The Judeo-Christian/Islam Religions themselves are a Cancer upon this Planet.
@7.62. If Wrongmey gets his way, we would be going to war in their country.
It"s about time NBC admitted Obama hates women...O'bagger bows down to these people and beleives in their teachings which treat dogs better than women.
7.62x39mm, to associate this tragedy, and the barbarism of the Taliban with Islam and President Obama only serves to show the rest of us what a bigoted moron you are! But I could have guessed that, since you can't even manage to spell 'women' correctly!
How can that be!!!! Islam the religion of peace. Good thing I'm not the President I would have secret squads all over the middle east well armed, well paid, well supplied and just let them kill Al Qaidas, Talibans, and any other fanatic over there. I am sorry but they are direct descendants of cro-magnon man and they haven't evolved very much, they need to become extinct. There are plenty of thieving, lying, Muslims of a different tribe that would kill them for the fun of it, much better for money.
those that think that this religious madness is local in nature are putting their head in the sand; this is a world wide radical Muslim movement, be prepared for the same over here.
Reading all the Obama/Romney comments crack me up. They all say bad and sour things towards today's President and or the wannabe Presidents.
The funny part is, all you guys saying all this crap couldn't do any better in fact, you'd be in a fetal position within a 1/2 hour of being elected. Heh heh....
The Cyber world is so easy to post whatever your opinion is with no physical backlash....Always gotta blame somebody....
these bastards make my blood boil ....arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
all in the name of superstition and ignorance
Why does this surprise anyone. Woman are chattel to them. As westerners we constantly try to put our beliefs into those that were raised under a completely different moral standard. Don't get me wrong I don't agree with what they do or how they treat these woman in the middle east but we are never going to change them. We are never going to stop the hate, stop the war, stop the killing. It has been going on for thousands of years. We have been a country for 226 years. What we need to do is get the hell out of the middle east and let them live as they want. Just because we believe that our culture is better we are not going to convince them of it.
But that's just my opinion I could be wrong
Where is the Pakistan government speaking out about this and sending their own troops to track down these scum.
May there be about 50 girls armed who will go out and find these cowards who shot that girl and the other girl. I pray she will recover from her wounds and be allowed to come to US to live in peace.
Dear 7.62x39mm Ol' Buddy, Ol' Pal -
You state: "Welcome to obama's world!. Should you want to live like the muslims do cast your vote for obama. obama's support for the muslims is supporting the muslim war against wemon."
Your post belies the FACT that you, my dear, dear friend are an uneducated, knuckle-dragging, sub-human, (just like the Taliban in Pakistan). Intelligent people learned to capitalize names and religions and spell the word "women" in the second grade. You definitely do NOT belong in our modern Beloved Nation, (nor in the 21st Century for that matter). Perhaps you should be living in Pakistan among the Taliban - that way you will be able to relate better to the sub-human species you live among.
BTW: 7.62x39mm ammunition is of Russian origin. Maybe you're not a knuckle-dragging Taliban after all, but instead a Russian Commie who has to over-compensate for anatomical deficiencies with a moniker implying you are a rootin', tootin' gun-totin' Commie (a/k/a INSECURE IDIOT).
Have a nice day, you little needle-d*ck ass-wipe!!
xoxoxo
Ben
This is the kind of world our great president is supporting through his brillant policies. A radical religious terrorist world. A world where a woman cant drive, vote, must cover up,gays are slaughtered, non-muslims are killed, conform to Islam or else. A world with Shariah religous law. All you dope liberals, progressives and communists want this? This all because our extremely inteligent president really didnt grow up with the American experience. Our great Dear Leader grew up in a disjointed mixed up world of Islam, Communism and broken home. All this because the press and people did not vet this screwball. No one talked to psychiatrists about how a persons mixed up past makes a mixed up adult and now this nut job is president. All because they didnt want to be accused of racism. Man up do your jobs press stop being afraid of "rasicm". Its not racist to check someone out.
All these MUzzies are just a bunch of uni-brow big nosed goat humping cowards. Islam is a joke. It is the most violent cult ever.
Bunch of coward's,every damn one of them.enjoy your stay in hell you bunch of animals.
And why do we keep sending these animals billions every year?
How is that "winning their hearts and minds" thing going?
Animals.
These terrorists are cowards, with the most evil god on earth. May they fry in hell.
I hate to say it but another fine offering from the supposed religion of peace. Shooting a 14 year old girl in the name of god. How terrible and twisted.
Jim-76883@ You are a nut case. First everyone says stop the war and now you blame Obama for this . You are like the Rob-Me-Me blonde on u-tube. Grow a brain!
Yeah, Bullet171, like the FBI, the Taliban all wear jackets that identify themselves so they can be targeted easily by you and your buddies. Or are you just going to go for the "kill them all and let God sort it out" tactic?
Don't expect the Pakistani government to be hunting down Mohammad's pet pigs with any enthusiasm.
What type of person hunts down, terrorizes and traumatizes young and innocent children? Evil and beyond hope - the Taliban.
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
The only thing astounding about you is your lack of knowledge and general hate.
Transalphonda89j, Christians do not kill little girls, nor throw acid on the faces of women who want divorces, or cut off the nose and ears of women who wish to divorce abusive husbands, or stone to death 13 year-old girls that do not want to marry an old pervert, or stone to death homosexuals. Nice try--but pull your head out of your rear end.

Jim, I think you've confused Obama's policies for the Republican party platform. Ok, well not the 'conform to Islam' part, but everything else. Do tell - how is Obama anti-women, anti-voter, and anti-gay when he passed the Lilly Ledbetter fair pay act, isn't the one passing suppressive voter ID laws, and supports equal civil rights for gays including gay marriage and open service in the military? You've got your wires seriously crossed, buddy!
From what I've read, and a couple of friends who follow the Taliban (as it is supposed to be), Ihsan and others are extremists, making more of their OWN rules for the Taliban than actually exist. The couple of people I know who claim to follow it are gentle, respectful, caring and compassionate. Any group of people who are willing to shoot a child for her ideals, or kill people they've never met, are not a group of people I'd care to accidentally be around.
And get off of Obama's butt, people. He has nothing to do with this. He's fighting decades worth of corruption and corporate greed (yeah stockholders...you are culpable, as well), and NO one (I don't care who you are) is ever going to win that battle in 4-8 years. Our system is like a fallen Humpty Dumpty, and no one person will be able to put it back together again.
I can't stand Obama or his policies. Having said that, what the hell does he have to do with this story. What would you have him do, put all Muslims in America in some sort of concentration camps? These fanatics are bat-sh!t crazy and he's not going to change that whatever he does. There are hundreds of millions of Muslims in this world; you can't just wipe them all out. Regardless of what you think you know, there are moderate Muslimsand any reasonable person would agree that you have to show those individuals that you mean them no ill will and that in fact you will welcome them into a peaceful culture or they might just revert to the fundamentalism that is so prevalent in the cesspool that is the Middle East. This is called reason. Coming from me, a fairly conservative right-leaning person with a Christian background, I hope that some of you do understand that you too belong to a fringe element held in check only by the fear of incarceration. Once that fear dissipates or is eradicated outright, for one reason or another, you have the stored potential for the very Taliban-esque barbarianism that you condemn. You're no better.
Also, I feel compelled to call out the morons who habitually go to stories and articles about some dumb ass jihadist who kills this or blows up that woman or child for the specific purpose of touting the evils of Jews and Christians. Yeah, but the Crusades and Charlemagne and Westboro Baptists... shut up. The Westboro Baptists are the most extreme of elements in modern American Christianity and everyone, left and right, ubiquitously agree that they're morons. I still have not heard of an instance where they decapitated a reporter or shot a little girl; I'm sure that would make the news. Occasionally, some idiot attacks an abortion clinic... then they are killed or go to prison for the rest of their lives. If you just hate Christians because you do not agree with their beliefs (that from what I understand do not include mudering or mutilating infidels and blasphemers) and you hope to force them to abandon those beliefs, then you're a bigot. Let go of the hate and ignorance... we are the world, we are the... no, I can't do it, I just threw up in my mouth. Seriously though, don't be a bigot... that goes for both sides.
I'm posting this from the article because Islam is NOT the reason the Taliban gave for shooting her. The Taliban shot her because she's speaking out against THEM - this is about control through intimidation.
I fully agree that the fundamental muslims, not to be confused with the majority of the muslim world, are twisted, evil people that should be brought to justice.
I can't ignore all the wrong our federal government officials have done over the past 60+ years in the Middle East to promote this sort of behavior.
I'm opposed to our government sending our brothers and sisters outside of this country to die and kill. I'm more opposed to that when trillions (A dollar figure most of us, including myself, can't even comprehend) are spent to die and kill, and peanuts are spent to further and help these people as a whole.
Ask Charlie Wilson how easy it is to get absurd money to destroy, and how almost impossible it is to get minimal money to rebuild and advance.
If we're not going to rebuild and advance after all the destruction, there's no point of even wasting the American people's lives and money, don't go.
Yeah, because there are never any shootings of innocent kids in the US. It must be almost a week since we've had one.
I am Muslim and I really do not understand the Taliban. They seem to think it is ok to murder anyone who opposes them or anyone who does not think like them. Their latest victim is a young girl who was fighting for her right to an education. Yes, women and girls do have a right to an education according to Islam in spite of what the Taliban might think about it. Their thinking is ignorant. That is not the way of Islam. Islam tells everyone, male and female, to seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.
There is no solution for these people. Indiscriminate killing of men over 14 might be a start but then you've got a country full of women with no skills at all. It would take something on a large scale to do it. I'm not sure what that would be though...they are like cockroaches...you kill one and they have 2 or 3 cousins to avenge them. Educating them won't help because they cling to their militancy and their religion. Turn the entire region into glass? We aren't winning hearts and minds. We aren't changing anybodies mind. Change or die. There is no in between.
I'm joking obviously......I just don't see a solution for a people who refuse to help themselves....other than keeping them as far away from civilized people as possible....maybe a wall or something?
By religious fanatics? No.
So the killing of a so called innocent bystander by a drone strike. In an attempt to get rid of people who will do this. Insights rage and hatred and adds to the terrorist ranks. Even though the benefit is to those who denounce it and should be acting on behalf of themselves so the drones don't have to.
The attempted killing of a truly innocent girl out for peace and brave enough to stand up and denounce the taliban and their terrorist ways. Should then add up to the people taking control of their land and rising up against something they can actually do more to than just wave their fist at and burn flags in protest.
So brave are they when their target of rage, the US, can't be reached. If the people had an ounce of dignity, pride or courage this tragic premeditated act should have that country ablaze with protest against the taliban and a civilian uprising against terrorist. Come on pakistan do the right thing if you want the drone strikes to stop then prove it and take action and seek justice on behalf of one of your own!
What a shame that the idea of just living in peace without fear of persecution is considered support of the west and a death sentence. Someone other than a 14 year old girl needs to stand up and clue these people in that living without fear is a universal idea and right that the west holds no ownership of and is free for anyone brave enough to go after it.
I don't know which one makes me more disgusted, those who would do this or those who let them!
First...this is not about the President or the wannabe...so shut the @!$%# up about how one is evil or the other is crazy...
Second...it isn't the Muslim religion that is doing this, it is the radical pieces of @!$%# that have warped their religion beyond all comprehension so that the hate mongers in this world can spread their own form of bull@!$%#. Yeah, that inclides some of you here...
Third, and most importantly...children were shot...may even die...who are also, I am assuming, Muslim...yet one (if not all) found the courage where a LOT of you and them don't have to speak out against the true terrorists and plead for peace...
Put away your petty bull@!$%# and your political whining for a while and say a prayer for these kids...they are unfortunate to live in a country that has those who hate their own, yet so very blessed that they still know what it is to be a human being .
If religion is such a good thing, then why do its most ardent followers and advocates commit so much evil?
Eliminating conservative religious fundamentalism won't eliminate war and violence, but it should certainly reduce it.
Those who speak out for peace, understanding, an end to repression often wind up being fatal targets of those who would hope for tyranny, injustice and inhumanity to reign. Its a global issue that has likely always occurred and not just within the realm of the Taliban. It has happened right here decades ago with someone like Martin Luther King and others. Yet tyrants will never reign in the end as someone as brave as a young teenage girl will always and forever be inspired by justice and they will open their mouths and speak the truth in fearlessness of the consequences. One day I hope the cancer of tyrants will be silenced forever by the brave who will inspire others to walk out of the shadows of fear and join them in their march towards speaking for equality and freedom globally and not just within the middle east or the world of the Taliban.
I wonder if those big tough manly rug heads would like to come to Missouri for a visit? I'm a pretty good shot and damned fast with a castration knife.
and those that think that God exists....ya right!! bunch of nut jobs!!
I wonder why the libs like Sandra Fluke are running around shouting how much they are discriminated against because the government won't force every religion to pay for her birth control pills when there are young teens standing up for their rights and being killed for it. Sandra Fluke has never in her life endured what this girl has endured in her lifetime. Puts Sandra & the lib's argument in prospective; that it is just total utter, self-centered non-sense.
@ben..the only thing you could find wrong with that post was spelling and grammar? Wow, says lots about you too.
@"96ws6
And why do we keep sending these animals billions every year?"
We don't give any money to the Taliban Duh!
Even the Muslims that claim they are such a peaceful religion should be outraged at this senseless act. You would think they would rise up and stop these cowards from harming children. I don't generally advocate violence but in this case they are aware of who these militants are and could stop this mindless crap if they wanted too.
Imbecile pathetic coward taliban is scared of a 14 year old girls? That shows that taliban does not and will not recognize the rights of others, freedom of speech. This is what religion of peace is all about, does not agree to disagree everbody have to toe in line and follow an uneducated illiterate cleric, a frog from a deep well that have no clue what 21st century is all about. Looking at them these islamist or muslimit only knows their 7th century spec book and wants to take the whole world back into backwardness, savagery babrbabric age. Their imagenary allah spoke to some nutcase taliban. Not sure what kind of allah they worship or is it satan they worship? Must be very brave of them trying to kill a 14 yr old , and very coward to face a man.
Actually they are very easy to identify. They don't need a "Taliban" windbreaker to be known. They're the ones shooting 14 year old girls, along with many other easily identifiable heinous acts. Not exactly undercover are the Taliban.
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds. Have no fear for atomic energy. Cause none of them can stop the time. How long shall they kill our prophets. While we stand aside and look. Some say it's just a part of it. We've got to fulfil the book. Won't you help to sing. These songs of freedom. Cause all I ever have. Redemption songs. These songs of Freedom.......Bob Marley
This brave girl and her younger brother are also ardent followers of Islam. Or didn't you read the article?
Religion is a neutral force. It neither makes you better, nor makes you worse. If you have a tendency towards being a decent human being, religion will provide you a framework to be that, and if you have a tendency to being an oppressor or a terrorist, religion will provide you with that, too.
Religious people are no better or worse than atheists.
Islam............the "Religion of Peace".............they only kill non-believers, gays, Christians, Jews, girls who go to school, girls who look at guys, girls who show their faces, Muslims of other sects, educated people, people who eat pork, people who drink alcohol, people from other regions, people of other religions, Americans, most other Europeans, people who smile, people who are happy (since they can't be believers), and others. Ways they are killed by shooting, cutting off their heads, stoning, drowning, beating, explosives among others. So how can anyone not see how peaceful they are since they only kill those that are completely necessary and that "Allah" (peace be with you) and "Muhammad" (praise be upon him) would approve of as they certainly are peaceful.
Few things. One, both democrats and republicans are against how the Taliban treat their women and murder their children. I hate Obama, but even I know he doesnt support this killing or other autrocities over there. So please, both sides, can we come together on one thing, just one, and say the killing of little girls, boys, women, men, etc for no reason other than them speaking out against autrocities is just plain wrong? Can we please?!
2. I am Christian, but I know a few hundred years ago, the religious were in the reverse. The Muslims in the Ottoman Empire allowed freedom of religion, and people were treated better than under the Christians in many countries. Somehow Christianity evolved to be against senseless killings, while Islam has become more hardcore. I either see this problem getting better with the passage of time, and the younger generation turning away from hate, or much worse if Islam becomes more and more extreme (albeit, in a relatively small proportion of the population of Muslims). I really hope its the first.
3. You know your area is bad when you want China to come save you. Just saying...
Yet another reason to re-think our foreign policies - mostly consisting of "We're sorry". These cowards that shot three little girls are just a microcosm of a much larger problem. Obviously the answer does not include gutting the military, turning our back on allies in that part of the world (Israel) or apologizing for being strong.
Time to correct the error made in 2008.
Nathan, ever heard of communism? Communists killed tens of millions of people in the 20th century alone andthey have no religion.
Byron writes:
The article doesn't say a word about the girl being an ardent follower of Islam. The only mention of the brother is that he prayed for the U.S. or China to come to the valley. The "ardent" part is in your own mind.
7.62 makes a very interesting point. But what is really enjoyable is that the socialist/liberals are getting their own medicine they gave Bush for 8 years. Obama is the worst President we have ever had and he is bowing down to the Muslims in more that one way. Mean while the mid east is close to nuclear war and he continues to campaign and not talking to Israel. The Muslims countries also need to start stepping up to the plate and not worry about burning Korans and more towards seeking out their terrorist muslin brothers and bringing them to justice.
Most recently Obama 'friended' the Taliban in an attempt to get them to come to the table to 'discuss diplomatically' solutions to the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also quietly 'released' as in let go, those prisoners, loyal to the Taliban, after they 'promised' not to go out and shoot people. This is not make-believe, this is happening under the auspices of the Obama administration.
Sandune landmass and spell checker2 , your hero president with his mid east policy of supporting revolution is only going to give the Islamic extremists power which your are seeing unfold in all of those countries. So your religious crazies are going to be doing the same thing that happened to this poor girl in all these other countries brillant idea. So yes O-man is supporting this kind of behavior. The mid east needs strong men dictators to keep the crazy religious zealots under control now your hero president is helping uncork the bottle. Who cares if some extremists were thrown into the wood chipper under the dictators.
jim-768838
If I remember correctly it was a republican president that once said "once Iraq showed the rest of the middle east what freedom is like the dictator goverments would start to falling like dominos for freedom." By any chance did you fall and hit your head and lost what happened in the past ten years.
pakistan would be better off as a big parking lot and nuked to high hell !!!!
Imagine a world with no Muslims at all..... I'm no Christian or Jew, but just think about that for a while..
This child was shot for advocating fairness and peace - we've done that Here too. For those of you who advocate 'turning the middle east into a parking lot' - you do realize the Wind travels the WHOLE world, yes? Anything dropped in another place to annihilate any group of people will eventually work its way HERE and poison OUR children too. The US is definitely stretched too thin, but what is the alternative? To sit silent and say nothing while our fellow Beings are systematically oppressed and abused? That IS all it takes for evil to win - and don't be fooled: once their own space is conquered - the more power they take the more they will seek.
If EVERYBODY would focus more on getting their OWN self right and stop trying to tell everyone else that 'they' must be doing it wrong because what they're doing doesn't coincide with 'your' Personal belief, peace would work its way up from the home to the community to the state to the nation and around the world.
Yes. I know. Wishful thinking.
I don't agree either with rash postings about nuking Pakistan because of this but wtf are you talking about when you say "we've done that Here too?! We don't do that here too. What's wrong with you people who argue that no one is any better than al-Qaida and the Taliban?
Randy, see my comment in post 1.45 above. Muslims do speakout against violence perpetrated by the likes of the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, etc, but it hardly ever makes news. It's not sensational enough.
If your hearts are filled with pain and anger at the fate of this child, you should not be asking this question. There are good people even in Pakistan. We send money to them to support and strengthen the forces of good in this country so that they could protect other children like her and other people from the pigs of taliban and other assorted fundi bastards.
Countries like Pakistan are the frontiers on which the battle between good and evil is being waged. If we lose there the world will descend in darkness and many more such little girls will be slaughtered by the self styled custodians of morality and virtue.
Oh, election season. Some of the American politics tangents were reasonably on-topic, but a lot stay collapsed.
BenDereDunDat, you're suspended for a day for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
...
MIke-680333, you're suspended for a week for violating #5 of the Code of Honor. Don't smear everyone in a religion - extrapolation-bigotry is pretty common when it comes to the Taliban but that doesn't make it okay.
And you are trying to convince me these types of Barbaric Crimes have not been committed for the cause of Christianity in the past? Are Innocent, peaceful Sikh's and Abortion provider's not murdered by so-called peaceful Christians in the US? Are Mosques not fire-bombed, and vandalized in the US by so-called peaceful Christians? Ask Native Americans how they feel about the Atrocities committed against their Ancestors. We still have Christian Fundamentalists in the US calling for the Killing of Gays, Lesbians, and Trans-Genders. We have Christian Fundamentalists in the US urging Governments in Africa to pass laws allowing the Killing of Homosexuals. I stand by my statement.
@Adam44 - There is a Lot of 'real' history left out of the classroom text books my friend. The Civil War for example was absolutely not a 'civil' affair...those people fighting were not being nice about it, and the families left behind in often Very rural locations certainly would not have been pleased to find a company of the enemy side's soldiers moving through. Need a more recent example? Try reading up on the 60's at the height of the battle for equal rights...research the history of the extremist movements...right here in the US. Too far back for you? In the last 20 years we've witnessed a rise in the incidence of people prepared to kill and maim one another over the latest toy for their child or electronic do-dad for their Status. My point in my original post was not to qualify the atrocities inflicted by the extremists in the mid-east, but rather to remind the 'nuke-em' crowd that Human-Beings have never been exempt from the propensity to treat one another badly in the pursuit of personal interest. Better than? No. More sensible and caring? One can hope.
Yeah! You get them girl. Strike out ignorance wherever you find it. When are people gonna learn that ignorance has no nationality, and most people want it laid to rest.
Yeah, you just know you are beloved of God when you need to assassinate young girls for their beliefs.
Islam... I hate to break this news to everyone, but it seems not everyone is willing to admit or at least learn that the same holy books read over in the Middle East that preach so much violence and bloodshed, are the same books the muslims read everywhere. Despite liberal media trying to portray Islam as a peace loving religion, Muslims only love other muslims and even then, as can be seen by this sad story, their "love" is questionable.
The sooner Islam is banned as a religion, the sooner bloodshed will stop. Sure we'll never lose the maniacs of day to day life, there will always be murders and robberies on the nightly news in the bigger cities across the world, but a world without Islam... well, at least there wouldn't be deaths and rapings and murders on the levels they are at now. Give Israel to the Jewish people, kick the muslims out, they have enough desert to go inhabit.
Christianity is not all that much better. If you leave it to the Repulicans, they'll show you the real meaning of the Old Testament. Religion is generally irrational, dogmatic, and quite evil.
astounding,
Does you name describe you level of ignorance? I have lived in the Middle East, and I can assure that the vase majority of Muslims I met were kind, gentle peace loving individuals. Judging the entire religion by the evils perpetrated by the minority 2 0r 3% is unjust. The same as judging all Christians by the actions of the perpetrators of the Inquisition.
AB1981-well said.
@AB and SingBiker - The inquisistion was 500 years ago, and Islam has been like this since it's founding, Chistendom wasn't founded by beheading an entire city, Islam was, Buddhism or Judaism wasn't founded by marrying and consumating the a marriage to an 8 year old, Islam was. Sure, Christendom has had it's faults, and still does, but it doesn't grant you a ticket to heaven for killing, murdering NON-MUSLIM, where as Islam grants their believers such a ticket.
Now google how many verses in the Quran preach violence against non-muslim. For someone who lived in the middle east for a couple years, you sure didn't read much about the religion you were surrounded by, or bother reading their scripture did you?
Where is CodePink now? Still protesting the drone strikes against the cowards that hurt this brave young girl?
again, let a muslim leader, an Iranian give you the insights into the religion.... http://www.answersingenesis.org/media/video/ondemand/escape-from-darkness
Just watch, then reply.
Pakis and Sunni Saudis and co are responsible for 80 percent of world problems including economic ones. Examine the devastations with Iraqi wars and now sanctions on Iranian oil and the resultant oil price manipulations.
They are making the lives of their own people also miserable by their Islamic religious madness to the intolerable levels.
Followers of Islamic cult, especially Sunni Saudi inspired Islamic radicals and militants (al-Qaida, Salaffi, Wahhabi, MB, Taliban and other label ones), are fast marching backwards to their seventh century desert tribal days.
They are indulging in rapings, lootings, killings and genocides of non-Muslims (Darfur, S. Sudan, Nigeria and spreading like wild fire in many regions and Muslims (Libya, Mali, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other places).
Sunni Saudi backed Salaffi and MB new chapters are opening up in Egypt. Just watch the fate of Christians, women and Israel as the time goes by.
Even in Syria, if Assad is overthrown by Sunni Islamic religious Nazis like al-Qaida, MB, the conditions of Christians will be unbearable just like Iraq.
Pakistan has become the dirtiest swamp on earth even for its own people!
The Taliban is not all Muslims, and all Muslims are not the Taliban, any more than Westboro Baptist Church or the radical "pro-life" terrorists represent all Christians.
If enough Muslims get sick of the Taliban's reign of terror, they will rise up and squash them like the vermin they are.
The evil empire----------O'Bammnation
all religion is superstition
@Tina - Unless they are lying, all members of the Taliban ARE in fact Muslim. The taliban actually started as an Islamic School....save me the trouble and just read, so you don't retype the same nonsense...
The Taliban (Pashto: طالبان), alternative spelling Taleban,[5] (ṭālibān, meaning "students" in Pashto) is an Islamic fundamentalist militant movement of Pashtun tribesmen.[6] It ruled large parts of Afghanistan and its capital, Kabul, as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan from September 1996 until October 2001. It gained diplomatic recognition from three states: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The main leader of the Taliban movement is Mullah Mohammed Omar,[7] and Kandahar is considered the birthplace of the Taliban.[8]
While in power, it enforced its strict interpretation of Sharia law,[9] and leading Muslims have been highly critical of the Taliban's interpretations of Islamic law.[10] The Taliban were condemned internationally for their brutal repression of women.[11][12] The majority of their leaders were influenced by Deobandi fundamentalism,[13] and many also strictly follow the social and cultural norm called Pashtunwali.[14] The Taliban movement is primarily made up of members belonging to Pashtun tribes, the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan.[15]
mpa, you are exactly spot on.
The quoran (however you spell it) is a book of evil writings and does deserve to be treated (burned, spit on, covered in excrement etc.) as it preaches others to treat women.
I guess I never thought of muslims as "thought police" but that is exactly what they are. Learn something new every day.
That's true Tina but the Taliban and al-Qaida does represent MILLIONS of Muslims the world over while the Westboro wackos represent probably a few hundred at most. That's the BIG difference!
Then where are they? Why do they not speak up? When it comes down to it it seems like the moderate Muslims will side with their deranged brethren rather than with us infidels.
Astounding, you must have a government job with all the misinformation you spread.
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
It's embarrassing to see people trashing islam as this great evil, when they obviously know NOTHING about it.
Personally, I've studied and reviewed almost every form of monotheism from christianity to judaism. I've observed three things from almost all of them, islam included. They all follow the Golden Rule, they're all quite ridiculous, and they've almost all been used by crazy people for evil.
@superskunk- have you bothered to watch this video about understanding Islam yet? obviously not....argue with him, an Iranian, co founder of the Iranian Revolutionairy Army, .... http://www.answersingenesis.org/media/video/ondemand/escape-from-darkness/escape-from-darkness
Then come back and repost. Until then, you just say nothing, backing it up with nothing. It's obvious you still have yet to watch that video I posted above. ISLAM PREACHES VIOLENCE AGAINST NON-MUSLIM. How hard is that to understand? That is the difference between other religions and Islam. Watch the video, hear it from his mouth, and just stop embarrasing yourself by saying useless things.
astounding, read my post above.
I understand that there are religious crazies out there, been like that for thousands of years, islam isn't the only guilty party, and it's not islam as a whole regardless of that.
You sound just as fundamental as the crazies you're posting about.
@Superskunk, if you have "studied" every form of monotheism, which in itself I find quite hard to believe, as people can spend their whole lives devoted to studying one religion and come away baffled, please offer us an answer besides "They all follow the Golden Rule, they're all quite ridiculous, and they've almost all been used by crazy people for evil." ... which by the way isn't "The Golden Rule" (if you're going to capitalize and refernce something at least get your facts straight. Here, study this:
Quran
(2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of
the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of
Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]... but if they
desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until
persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah." The historical
context of this passage is not defensive warfare, since Muhammad and
his Muslims had just relocated to Medina and were not under attack by
their Meccan adversaries. In fact, the verses urge offensive warfare, in
that Muslims are to drive Meccans out of their own city (which they later
did). The use of the word "persecution" by some Muslim translators is thus
disingenuous (the actual Muslim words for persecution - "idtihad" - and
oppression - a variation of "z-l-m" - do not appear in the verse). The actual
Arabic comes from "fitna" which can mean disbelief, or the disorder that results
from unbelief or temptation. Taken as a whole, the context makes clear that
violence is being authorized until "religion is for Allah" - ie.
unbelievers desist in their unbelief.
Quran
(2:244) - "Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth
and knoweth all things."
Quran
(2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed
for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which
is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah
knoweth, and ye know not." Not only does this verse establish that violence
can be virtuous, but it also contradicts the myth that fighting is intended only
in self-defense, since the audience was obviously not under attack at the time.
From the Hadith, we know that this verse was narrated at a time that Muhammad
was actually trying to motivate his people into raiding
merchant caravans for loot.
Quran
(3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible
agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to
help."
Quran
(3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers,
for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no
authority". This speaks directly of polytheists, yet it also includes
Christians, since they believe in the Trinity (ie. what Muhammad incorrectly
believed to be 'joining companions to Allah').
Quran
(4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this
world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he
victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward." The martyrs of Islam are
unlike the early Christians, led meekly to the slaughter. These Muslims are
killed in battle, as they attempt to inflict death and destruction for the cause
of Allah. Here is the theological basis for today's suicide bombers.
Quran
(4:76) - "Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…"
Quran
(4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus
be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until
they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn
renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case)
take no friends or helpers from their ranks."
Quran
(4:95) - "Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no
hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and
their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight
with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in
Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He
distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-" This
passage criticizes "peaceful" Muslims who do not join in the violence, letting
them know that they are less worthy in Allah's eyes. It also demolishes the
modern myth that "Jihad" doesn't mean holy war in the Quran, but rather a
spiritual struggle. Not only is the Arabic word used in this passage, but it is
clearly not referring to anything spiritual, since the physically
disabled are given exemption. (The Hadith reveals the context of the passage to
be in response to a blind man's protest that he is unable to engage in Jihad and
this is reflected in other translations of the verse).
Quran
(4:104) - "And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer
pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain..." Is pursuing
an injured and retreating enemy really an act of self-defense?
Quran
(5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His
messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should
be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on
opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for
them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous
chastisement"
Quran
(8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve.
Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them" No
reasonable person would interpret this to mean a spiritual struggle.
Quran
(8:15) - "O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle,
turn not your backs to them. (16)Whoso on that day turneth his back to them,
unless maneuvering for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath
incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey's
end."
Quran
(8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder,
unbelief) and religion should be only for Allah" Some translations
interpret "fitna" as "persecution", but the traditional understanding of this
word is not supported by the historical context (See notes for 2:293, also).
The Meccans were simply refusing Muhammad access to their city during Haj.
Other Muslims were allowed to travel there - just not as an armed group, since
Muhammad had declared war on Mecca prior to his eviction. The Meccans were also
acting in defense of their religion, since it was Muhammad's intention to
destroy their idols and establish Islam by force (which he later did). Hence
the critical part of this verse is to fight until "religion is only for
Allah", meaning that the true justification of violence was the unbelief of
the opposition. According to the Sira (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 324) Muhammad further
explains that "Allah must have no rivals."
Quran
(8:57) - "If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to
strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember."
Quran
(8:59-60) - "And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can
outstrip (Allah's Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all
thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay
the enemy of Allah and your enemy."
Quran
(8:65) - "O Prophet, exhort the believers to fight..."
Quran
(9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the
idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and
lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and
pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them." According to this verse,
the best way of staying safe from Muslim violence is to convert to Islam.
Prayer (salat) and the poor tax (zakat) are among the religion's
Five Pillars.
Quran
(9:14) - "Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them
to disgrace..."
Quran
(9:20) - "Those who believe, and have left their homes and striven with
their wealth and their lives in Allah's way are of much greater worth in Allah's
sight. These are they who are triumphant." The "striving" spoken of here is
Jihad (Arabic).
Quran
(9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold
that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor
acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book,
until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."
"People of the Book" refers to Christians and Jews. This was one of the
final "revelations" from Allah and it set in motion the tenacious military
expansion, in which Muhammad's companions managed to conquer two-thirds of the
Christian world in the next 100 years. Islam is intended to dominate all other
people and faiths.
Quran
(9:30) - "And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians
say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they
imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how
they are turned away!"
Quran
(9:38-39) - "O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye
are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do
ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of
this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless ye go forth, He will punish
you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place." This is a
warning to those who refuse to fight, that they will be punished with Hell.
Quran
(9:41) - "Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your
wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but
knew." See also the verse that follows (9:42)
- "If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would
(all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed)
on them" This contradicts the myth that Muslims are to fight only in
self-defense, since the wording implies that battle will be waged a long
distance from home (in another country and on Christian soil, in this case,
according to the historians).
Quran
(9:73) - "O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the
hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the
destination." Dehumanizing those who reject Islam, by reminding Muslims
that they are merely firewood for Hell, makes it easier to justify slaughter.
It also explains why today's devout Muslims have little regard for those outside
the faith.
Quran
(9:88) - "But the Messenger, and those who believe with him, strive and
fight with their wealth and their persons: for them are (all) good things: and
it is they who will prosper."
Quran
(9:111) - "Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their
goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His
cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the
Law, the Gospel, and the Quran: and who is more faithful to his covenant than
Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the
achievement supreme."
Quran
(9:123) - "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near
to you and let them find in you hardness."
Quran
(17:16) - "And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to
the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word
proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction." Note that
the crime is moral transgression, and the punishment is "utter destruction."
(Before ordering the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden first issued Americans an
invitation to Islam).
Quran
(18:65-81) - This parable lays the theological groundwork for honor
killings, in which a family member is murdered because they brought shame to the
family, either through apostasy or perceived moral indiscretion. The story
(which is not found in any Jewish or Christian source) tells of Moses
encountering a man with "special knowledge" who does things which don't seem to
make sense on the surface, but are then justified according to later
explanation. One such action is to murder a youth for no apparent reason (74).
However, the wise man later explains that it was feared that the boy would
"grieve" his parents by "disobedience and ingratitude." He was killed so that
Allah could provide them a 'better' son. (Note: This is one reason why honor
killing is sanctioned by Sharia. Reliance of the Traveler (Umdat al-Saliq) says
that punishment for murder is not applicable when a parent or grandparent kills
their offspring (o.1.1-2).)
Quran
(21:44) - "We gave the good things of this life to these men and their
fathers until the period grew long for them; See they not that We gradually
reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they
who will win?"
Quran
(25:52) - "Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against
them with the utmost strenuousness..." "Strive against" is Jihad -
obviously not in the personal context. It's also significant to point out that
this is a Meccan verse.
Quran
(33:60-62) - "If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease,
and the alarmists in the city do not cease, We verily shall urge thee on against
them, then they will be your neighbors in it but a little while. Accursed, they
will be seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter." This
passage sanctions the slaughter (rendered "merciless" and "horrible murder" in
other translations) against three groups: Hypocrites (Muslims who refuse to
"fight in the way of Allah" (3:167)
and hence don't act as Muslims should), those with "diseased hearts" (which
include Jews and Christians 5:51-52),
and "alarmists" or "agitators who include those who merely speak out against
Islam, according to Muhammad's biographers. It is worth noting that the victims
are to be sought out by Muslims, which is what today's terrorists do. If this
passage is meant merely to apply to the city of Medina, then it is unclear why
it is included in Allah's eternal word to Muslim generations.
Quran
(47:3-4) - "Those who reject Allah follow vanities, while those who
believe follow the truth from their lord. Thus does Allah set forth form men
their lessons by similitude. Therefore when you meet in battle those who
disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make
(them) prisoners," Those who reject Allah are to be subdued in battle. The
verse goes on to say the only reason Allah doesn't do the dirty work himself is
in order to to test the faithfulness of Muslims. Those who kill pass the test.
"But if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution
from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with
others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their
deeds be lost."
Quran
(47:35) - "Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye
should be uppermost (Shakir: "have the upper hand") for Allah is with
you,"
Quran
(48:17) - "There is no blame for the blind, nor is there blame for the
lame, nor is there blame for the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whoso
obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which
rivers flow; and whoso turneth back, him will He punish with a painful doom."
Contemporary apologists sometimes claim that Jihad means 'spiritual
struggle.' Is so, then why are the blind, lame and sick exempted? This verse
also says that those who do not fight will suffer torment in hell.
Quran
(48:29) - "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are
hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves"
Islam is not about treating everyone equally. There are two
very distinct standards that are applied based on religious status. Also the
word used for 'hard' or 'ruthless' in this verse shares the same root as the
word translated as 'painful' or severe' in verse 16.
Quran
(61:4) - "Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way" Religion of
Peace, indeed! This is followed by (61:9):
"He it is who has sent His Messenger (Mohammed) with guidance and the
religion of truth (Islam) to make it victorious over all religions even
though the infidels may resist."
Quran
(61:10-12) - "O ye who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will
save you from a grievous Penalty?- That ye believe in Allah and His Messenger,
and that ye strive (your utmost) in the Cause of Allah, with your property and
your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew! He will forgive you
your sins, and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, and to beautiful
mansions in Gardens of Eternity." This verse was given in battle. It uses
the Arabic word, Jihad.
Quran
(66:9) - "O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites,
and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey's end."
The root word of "Jihad" is used again here. The context is clearly holy
war, and the scope of violence is broadened to include "hypocrites" - those who
call themselves Muslims but do not act as such.
From the Hadith:
Bukhari
(52:177) - Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until
you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will
say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."
Bukhari
(52:256) - The Prophet... was asked whether it was permissible to attack
the pagan warriors at night with the probability of exposing their women and
children to danger. The Prophet replied, "They (i.e. women and children) are
from them (i.e. pagans)." In this command, Muhammad establishes that it is
permissible to kill non-combatants in the process of killing a perceived enemy.
This provides justification for the many Islamic terror bombings.
Bukhari
(52:220) - Allah's Apostle said... 'I have been made victorious with
terror'
Abu
Dawud (14:2526) - The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Three things are
the roots of faith: to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, "There is no
god but Allah" and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits, and
not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be
performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day
the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist)
Abu
Dawud (14:2527) - The Prophet said: Striving in the path of Allah (jihad)
is incumbent on you along with every ruler, whether
he is pious or impious
Muslim
(1:33) - the Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight
against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad
is the messenger of Allah
Bukhari
(8:387) - Allah's Apostle said, "I have been ordered to fight the people
till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah'. And if they say
so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then
their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with
them except legally."
Muslim
(1:30) - "The Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight
against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but
Allah."
Muslim
(1:149) - "Abu Dharr reported: I said: Messenger of Allah, which of the
deeds is the best? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Belief in Allah and Jihad in
His cause..."
Muslim
(20:4645) - "...He (the Messenger of Allah) did that and said: There is
another act which elevates the position of a man in Paradise to a grade one
hundred (higher), and the elevation between one grade and the other is equal to
the height of the heaven from the earth. He (Abu Sa'id) said: What is that act?
He replied: Jihad in the way of Allah! Jihad in the way of Allah!"
Muslim
(20:4696) - "the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: 'One
who died but did not fight in the way of Allah nor did he express any desire (or
determination) for Jihid died the death of a hypocrite.'"
Muslim
(19:4321-4323) - Three separate hadith in which Muhammad shrugs over the
news that innocent children were killed in a raid by his men against
unbelievers. His response: "They are of them (meaning the enemy)."
Muslim
(19:4294) - "When the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) appointed
anyone as leader of an army or detachment he would especially exhort him... He
would say: Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against
those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war... When you meet your enemies
who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to
any one of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any
harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them
and desist from fighting against them... If they refuse to accept Islam, demand
from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your
hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them.
Tabari 7:97 The morning after the murder of Ashraf, the Prophet
declared, "Kill any Jew who falls under your power." Ashraf was a poet,
killed by Muhammad's men because he insulted Islam. Here, Muhammad widens the
scope of his orders to kill. An innocent Jewish businessman was then slain by
his Muslim partner, merely for being non-Muslim.
Tabari 9:69 "Killing Unbelievers is a small matter to us" The
words of Muhammad, prophet of Islam.
Tabari 17:187 "'By God, our religion (din) from which we have
departed is better and more correct than that which these people follow. Their
religion does not stop them from shedding blood, terrifying the roads, and
seizing properties.' And they returned to their former religion." The words
of a group of Christians who had converted to Islam, but realized their error
after being shocked by the violence and looting committed in the name of Allah.
The price of their decision to return to a religion of peace was that the men
were beheaded and the woman and children enslaved by the caliph Ali.
Ibn Ishaq/Hisham
327: - “Allah said, ‘A
prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven
from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the
ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the
religion.’”
Ibn Ishaq/Hisham
990: - Lest anyone think that
cutting off someone's head while screaming 'Allah Akbar!' is a modern creation,
here is an account of that very practice under Muhammad, who seems to
approve.
Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 992:
- "Fight everyone in the way
of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah." Muhammad's instructions
to his men prior to a military raid.
Additional Notes:
Other than the fact that Muslims haven't killed every
non-Muslim under their domain, there is very little else that they can point to
as proof that theirs is a peaceful, tolerant religion. Where Islam is dominant
(as in the Middle East and Pakistan) religious minorities suffer brutal
persecution with little resistance. Where Islam is in the minority (as in
Thailand, the Philippines and Europe) there is the threat of violence if Muslim
demands are not met. Either situation seems to provide a justification for
religious terrorism, which is persistent and endemic to Islamic
fundamentalism.
The reasons are obvious and begin with the Quran. Few verses
of Islam's most sacred text can be construed to fit the contemporary virtues of
religious tolerance and universal brotherhood. Those that do are earlier
"Meccan" verses which are obviously abrogated by later ones. This is why Muslim
apologists speak of the "risks" of trying to interpret the Quran without their
"assistance" - even while claiming that it is a perfect book.
Far from being mere history or theological construct, the
violent verses of the Quran have played a key role in very real massacre and
genocide. This includes the brutal slaughter of tens of millions of Hindus for
five centuries beginning around 1000 AD with Mahmud of Ghazni's bloody
conquest. Both he and the later Tamerlane (Islam's Genghis Khan) slaughtered an
untold number merely for defending their temples from destruction. Buddhism was
very nearly wiped off the Indian subcontinent. Judaism and Christianity met the
same fate (albeit more slowly) in areas conquered by Muslim armies, including
the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Europe, including today's Turkey.
Zoroastrianism, the ancient religion of a proud Persian people is despised by
Muslims and barely survives in modern Iran.
So ingrained is violence in the religion that Islam has never
really stopped being at war, either with other religions or with itself.
Muhammad was a military leader, laying siege to towns, massacring
the men, raping
their women, enslaving their children, and taking the property of others as his
own. On several occasions he rejected offers of surrender from the besieged
inhabitants and even butchered captives.
He actually inspired his followers to battle when they did not feel it was right
to fight, promising them slaves and booty if they did and threatening them with
Hell if they did not. Muhammad allowed his men to rape traumatized women
captured in battle, usually on the very day their husbands and family members
were slaughtered.
It is important to emphasize that, for the most part, Muslim
armies waged aggressive campaigns, and the religion's most dramatic
military conquests were made by the actual companions of Muhammad in the decades
following his death. The early Islamic principle of warfare was that the
civilian population of a town was to be destroyed (ie. men executed, women and
children taken as slaves) if they defended themselves. Although modern
apologists often claim that Muslims are only supposed to attack in self-defense,
this is an oxymoron that is flatly
contradicted by the accounts of Islamic historians and others that go back
to the time of Muhammad.
Consider the example of the Qurayza Jews, who were completely
obliterated only five years after Muhammad arrived in Medina. Their leader
opted to stay neutral when their town was besieged by a Meccan army that was
sent to take revenge for Muhammad's deadly caravan raids. The tribe killed no
one from either side and even surrendered peacefully to Muhammad after the
Meccans had been turned back. Yet the prophet of Islam had every male member of
the Qurayza beheaded, and every woman and child enslaved, even raping one of the
captives himself (what Muslim apologists might refer to as "same day
marriage").
One of Islam's most revered modern scholars, Sheikh Yusuf
al-Qaradawi, openly sanctions offensive Jihad: "In the Jihad which you are
seeking, you look for the enemy and invade him. This type of Jihad takes place only when the Islamic state is invading other
[countries] in order to spread the word of
Islam and to remove obstacles standing in its way." Elsewhere, he
notes: "Islam has the right to take the initiative…this is God’s religion and
it is for the whole world. It has the right to destroy all obstacles in the form
of institutions and traditions … it attacks institutions and traditions to
release human beings from their poisonous influences, which distort human nature
and curtail human freedom. Those who say that Islamic Jihad was merely for the
defense of the 'homeland of Islam' diminish the greatness of the Islamic way of
life."
Muhammad's failure to leave a clear line of succession
resulted in perpetual internal war following his death. Those who knew him best
first fought to keep remote tribes from leaving Islam and reverting to their
preferred religion (the Ridda or 'Apostasy wars'). Then, within the closer
community, early Meccan converts battled later ones. Hostility developed
between those immigrants who had traveled with Muhammad to Mecca and the Ansar
at Medina who had helped them settle in. Finally there was a violent struggle
within Muhammad's own family between his favorite wife and favorite daughter - a
jagged schism that has left Shias and Sunnis at each others' throats to this
day.
The strangest and most untrue thing that can be said about
Islam is that it is a Religion of Peace. If every standard by which the West is
judged and condemned (slavery, imperialism, intolerance, misogyny, sexual
repression, warfare...) were applied equally to Islam, the verdict would be
devastating. Islam never gives up what it conquers, be it religion, culture,
language or life. Neither does it make apologies or any real effort at moral
progress. It is the least open to dialogue and the most self-absorbed. It is
convinced of its own perfection, yet brutally shuns self-examination and
represses criticism.
This is what makes the Quran's verses of violence so
dangerous. They are given the weight of divine command. While Muslim
terrorists take them as literally as anything else in their holy book, and
understand that Islam is incomplete without Jihad, moderates offer little to
contradict them - outside of opinion. Indeed, what do they have? Speaking of
peace and love may win over the ignorant, but when every twelfth verse of
Islam's holiest book either speaks to Allah's hatred for non-Muslims or calls
for their death, forced conversion, or subjugation, it's little wonder that
sympathy for terrorism runs as deeply as it does in the
broader community - even if most Muslims personally prefer not to interpret
their religion in this way.
Although scholars like Ibn Khaldun, one of Islam's most
respected philosophers, understood that "the holy war is a religious duty,
because of the universalism of the Muslim mission and (the obligation to)
convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force", many other
Muslims are either unaware or willfully ignorant of the Quran's near absence of
verses that preach universal non-violence. Their understanding of Islam comes
from what they are taught by others. In the West, it is typical for believers
to think that their religion must be like Christianity - preaching the New
Testament virtues of peace, love, and tolerance - because Muslims are taught
that Islam is supposed to be superior in
every way. They are somewhat surprised and embarrassed to learn that the
evidence of the Quran and the bloody history of Islam are very much in
contradiction to this.
Others simply accept the violence. In 1991, a Palestinian
couple in America was convicted of stabbing their daughter to death for being
too Westernized. A family friend came to their defense, excoriating the jury
for not understanding the "culture", claiming that the father was merely
following "the religion" and saying that the couple had to "discipline their
daughter or lose respect." (source).
In 2011, unrepentant Palestinian terrorists, responsible for the brutal murders
of civilians, women and children explicitly in
the name of Allah were treated to a luxurious "holy pilgrimage" to Mecca by the
Saudi king - without a single Muslim voice raised in protest.
For their part, Western liberals would do well not to
sacrifice critical thinking to the god of political correctness, or look for
reasons to bring other religion down to the level of Islam merely to avoid the
existential truth that this it is both different and dangerous.
There are just too many Muslims who take the Quran
literally... and too many others who couldn't care less about the violence done
in the name of Islam.
WOW ! That is quite astounding for lack of a better word.
I'm not going to start regurgitating verses of any religious text, this is a comment board, you lost me after the first verse.
And I don't speak the King's English, I capitalize the Golden Rule because I believe in it, just as I don't capitalize islam, judaism, christianity, etc.
It's not a question of their religious fanaticism. The real question is why does our federal government's foreign policy provoke and even promote terrorism causing our family members to die and our hard earned money to be spent, while killing our economy if it's not really helping ?
Actually, it makes me wonder how weak their faith in their religion is to have to assassinate little girls to protect it? I mean if it's not all made up bull@!$%# then why kill to protect it? Faith, right? Anybody willing to fight, argue or kill to defend their religion always act like they are true believers, but it always seemed to me like bull@!$%# posturing to hide that they really don't believe in what they are selling and can't deal with it. They see the world crumbling all around them and the 1,000 years of progress catching up with them overnight......and they want to fight for the right to screw little boys and marry 12 year old girls, kill infidels, abuse women, be racist, screw goats, smoke opium, and live in a hut without modern plumbing. Much like American rednecks clinging to their bibles and guns.
@ Astounding, well played my friend, well played.
Fundamentalist thinking is generally bad in all regards but especially when related to religion. Pushing ones beliefs on others is counterproductive to freedom of: thought, religion, choice, or anything for that matter.
Same as we don't want the Taliban telling us how we should live. we should not be telling them how they should live. They are a bunch of psycho killers by the the most positive of descriptions but it's not our job to change that. We can't police the whole world.
We need to get out of the middle east and start mass producing MOAB's. We accomplished our original mission in the Stan long ago. The minute they threaten our national security in any way, we daisy cut their butts into oblivion. The Soviets had that right right back in the day. You messed with USSR and they messed back at you but harder. You killed one of theirs, they killed ten of yours. Etc, etc.
It's a crappy way to have to think but you can't mamby pamby nut jobs like the Taliban. You have to give them what they understand best. Pain, death and destruction. Innocents will get killed and injured but such is life. It's us or them. And i'll pick us every time if it comes to that.
SuperSkunk Vs. Astounding, and the point goes to Astounding.
@Randy......took the words right out of my mouth. Whatever faith an individual has, it should give them enough comfort and peace that they do not have to impose anything but kindness on anyone else. I can't help but believe that killing an innocent is nothing less than abhorant to whatever diety a person may worship.
More than anything I would like to see this stop, but in my heart I believe that because of our miserable failings at humanity, (greed, corruption and hatred) that we are going to destroy ourselves.
Every country of the free world should ban together and wipe these Taliban off the face of the earth for the just cause of human rights and liberties. While we are at it ridding the world of gang members would be an added plus.
AB-1981-
While I agree that there are a lot of Muslims who condone violence and murder, Islam and Christianity, as religions, do not as a whole condone violence. You will have extremists in ANY group/religion because of PEOPLE. People are crazy and violent and some are evil. The main concept of the Bible is love, not hate; tolerance and forgiveness not murder and oppression. So grouping all religions as "generally irrational, dogmatic, and quite evil." is about as ignorant a statement as I've seen. Until people are made perfect, there will be hate and violence and sin. But I guess you were made perfect right? You don't make any mistakes and you can judge others right?
Just becuase you lack the faith required to believe doesn't mean you get judge all those who do choose to believe as horrible/evil people. I'm a proud Christian and guess what? There ARE Muslims who DON'T condone violence in the name of their religion.
It loos like the drone strikes against Pakistan should not ONLY continue, but should be stepped up. Pakistani Muslim Taliban are even worse then the Muslim Taliban trash that lives in Afghanistan.
The religious soldiers doing God's work. Spreading salvation. Generally a little less violent with Christians. They spread salvation mostly with penises and vagina's.
In USA hapend the same, leftist haters put actress Stacey Dash on Democrat hit list, because she dare to mention her support to Romney. Democrats=Taliban
Yes, the Taliban are a wonderful bunch of crap.
Is the US still planning to negotiate with Pakistan?. Where is their Leader?; most likely another Taliban groupie, along with Karzai from Afghanistan. The US Government so desperately needs Pakistan to get our help to the road of Afghanistan. .
Their real passion is killing Children. They should all do away with themselves, and find their G-d, Allah, who will make them heroes.
Again, the Religion of Peace---I've known better Peace than these monsters. Is that why the US is still in Afghanistan to prove to them they can be trained to be Civil?
Cut off all Aid to Pakistan, even for Humanitarian reasons. The Aid sent there first goes into the pockets of the Governments, and the Taliban who are Corrupt Murderers..
Warning; Islamic crazies at work here. Putting out a hit on three young girls. This is the bunch that will assume control of Afghanistan just as soon as the troops are gone and possibly even before since it seems they've already managed to infiltrate the afghan police and army to some extent.
The afghan people in general and women in particular have much to fear since it seems Taliban control of the country is inevitable.
Time to correct the error made in 2008.
republicans, how do you deal with womens' rights? Where does YOUR religion tell you to keep women down and refuse them their rights to health, their bodies, their self esteem? OR, is it just your insecurities, sexual weakness or whatever, that drives you to prevent women from being in control of their own lives? Taliban anyone? Same attitude, same freaky weakness.
While I'm an atheist who has always been appalled by the absurd violence of Christianity throughout much of history, I do definitely believe that we are finally at a place where we have every right to say this to Muslims: "Your extremists are worse than our extremists". It's dangerous to act like there is no difference between shooting children and holding up a sign that claims everyone is going to hel (misspelling deliberate, to get around any profanity censor).
Superskunk writes:
Where is the "Golden Rule" in Islam? There isn't one and that's the problem. Here is Islam's version:
Quran (48:29) "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. Those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves"
Heartbreaking.
What a sad world we live in when ignorant religious based hate laden dogma encourages the slaughter of innocence. Especially of our children. OUR CHILDREN. Those that follow any oppressive rule driven by ignorance, hate and intolerance are undeserving of this world.
Taliban followers are pure cowards who hide behind a thick veil of all these vices willing to kill their own children for their empty worthless existence. Pure Cowardice. The world needs to take a stand against hate filled actions like this. Not just a few people.......an entire village, country, continent, the entire world needs to step up and with a loud clear voice make it clear that this is inhuman and unacceptable.
redvirginia... Tell me, does it hurt your ears when you try to pull your head out? Try speaking English and, maybe, Spell check would help. You have the nerve to call people "haters?" How would you describe yourself then? Pretty angry, I'd say.

GIL... Careful, amigo. It sounds as if you're pointing out a basic hypocrisy here. And it's one that they'd rather not acknowledge.

"Religion; what crimes have been committed in thy name!"
Where is the Pakistan government tracking down this scum. They seem to be very quiet about it.
Very Sad,when a young girl is ordered to Die, just because she speaks out about her beliefs. How Barbaric.
I pray that her and the other CHILDREN (still children, and innocent in the eyes of God) Recover,or are taken quickly so as not to suffer unnecessarily.

To Astounding.
What's astounding is your lack of knowledge, and your lack of the same understanding that I'm sure you blame muslims for.
But the same stuff is in the Bible too:
And they went waging war against Midian, just as Jehovah had commanded Moses, and they proceeded to kill every male. And they killed the kings of Midian along with the others slain, namely, Evi and Rekem and and Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian, and they killed Balaam the son of beor with the sword. But the sons of Israel carried off the women of Midian and their little ones captive; and all their livestock and all their means of maintenace they plundered. And all their cities in which they had settled and all their walled camps they burned with fire. And they went taking all the spoil and all the booty in the way of humans and domestic animals. And they came bringing to Moses and Eleazar the priest and to the assembly of the sons of Israel the captives and the booty and the spoil to the camp, to the desert plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho. (Numbers 31:7-12)
Then Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the chieftains of the assembly went out to meet them outside the camp. And Moses grew indignant at the appointed men of the combat forces the chiefs of the thousands and the chiefs of the hundreds who were coming in from the military expedition. So Moses said to them, "Have you preserved alive every female? Look! They are the ones who, by Balaam's word, served to induce the Sons of Israel to commit unfaithfulness toward Jehovah over the affair of Peor, so that a scourge came upon the assembly of Jehovah. And now kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has had intercourse with man by lying with a male. And preserve alive for yourselves all the little ones among the women who have not known the act of lying with a male." (Numbers 31:13-19)
A little further on: As for human souls from the women who had not known the act of lying with a male, all the souls were thirty-two thousand. (Numbers 31:35)
So to me, the same could be said of the Old Testament. Lots of putting people of other cities to the sword, lots of raping and pillaging and plundering, killling of children. As for pedophilia-- it's always been religiously legal, the Bible prohibits a man from 'laying bare the nakedness' of your children but there is no rule that says 'thou shalt not lay bare the nakedness of anyone else's children.' There is no law in the Bible specifically prohibiting the lying down with children. Scholars themselves think thatMary herself might have been about 12 when she gave birth to Jesus--would that not make God a pedophile by today's standards? And Jesus himself said nothing about lying down with children was a sin/abomination.
Back then life was short and hard, and infant mortality was high. If you wanted to ensure the preservation of your genetic material in succeeding generations, it was biologically advantageous to marry early and often, and get your females started childbearing as soon as they were physically capable of it in hopes of having at least ONE child survive to adulthood. Females got married as soon as their fathers/male relatives gave permission.
The phrase 'People Of The Book' actually are the Muslims:
O People Of The Book, exceed not the limits in your religion, and say not of Allah anything but the truth. Verily the Messiah, Jesus, Son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah and a fulfillment of His word which he sent down to Mary, and a mercy from Him. So believe Allah and his messengers, and say not 'They Are Three'. Desist, it will be better for you. Verily, Allah is the only One God. Far is it from his Holiness that He should have a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the Earth. And Sufficient is Allah as a guardian. (Qu'ran 4:172)
Surely, those who have believed, and the Jews and the Sabians and the Christians--whoso believeth in God and the Last Day and does good deeds, on them shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Qu'ran, chapter 5:70)
The Muslims include as 'believers' themselves, Jews and the Christians who believe in God and Judgement Day and does good deeds. Anyone who doesn't fit in the above categories is an 'unbeliever'.
Not all Christians believe in the Holy Trinity. they are called 'Non-trinitarians and these denominations include Christadelphians, Christian Scientists, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Dawn Bible Students, Friends General Conference, Iglesia ni Cristo, Jehovah's Witnesses, La Luz del Mundo, Living Church of God, Oneness Pentecostals, Members Church of God International, Unitarian Universalist Christians and the United Church of God.
The copy of the Qu'ran I have was published by Islam International Publications in the UK in 2011. It has 114 chapters. Now I've heard that there are other books called the Sunnah (or Sunni plural) which includes the hadith) but several of my Muslim friends say they don't study those as set-in-stone law since the Sunnah/Sunni with the hadith is a biography of Mohammed's life and is used as an illustration to show how one should behave, but they say he was a man, just another Messenger, and while they try to be like him they acknowledge that he's done things that wouldn't be acceptable today. From what I understand there are several different Sunni and they were written in about 900 CE, way after Mohammed lived, and as a result they say that any Qu'ran references to the Sunni/hadith were likely added later by some religious leader and would not be part of the true Qu'ran.
I am not part of the Abrahamic belief system--the Jews/Christians/Muslims, so I look at all of you from the perspective of one outside of it. There's not much of a difference the Jews/Christians Holy Bible and the Qu'ran.
What is different is where you are in your religion's evolution. The Jews went through their 'let's kill everyone who doesn't agree with us'' phase when they killed Jesus. The Christians went through their 'let's kill everyone who doesn't agree with us' phase during the Middle Ages and the Inquisition (though in some parts of the world they still kill practitioners of my belief system)but they've mostly gotten over it. Now it just remains to the Muslims to do so. While the majority of the (particularly those in Westernized countries) have learned that lesson, there's just a few sects that are fighting the advancement of time. it will happen--I firmly believe the next twenty years or so is going to see an end to the conflicts in the Middle East.
And I believe incidents like this one is going to break the hold that the extremist religious leaders have over their brainwashed populations. The Olympics this summer finally saw all participating countries having both male and female participants--Afghanistan was the last country not to permit women to compete. This summer, an Afghani woman marched in her country's delegation, competed for the honor and glory of her country and her countrywomen, and was not required to wear a burka while doing it.
In Benghazi, public outrage by the people over the killing of ambassador Stevens caused the people to rise up, storm the compound that the militant were hiding in, and drive them out.
In Somalia a coalition of military forces from a number of African countries got together and stormed the beaches near an al-Quaeda stronghold. They called it al-Quaeda's D-Day, and it resulted in them being driven out of Somalia.
And now this girl. We will hear over the coming days, outrage from the Pakistani people over this shooting of an innocent girl--the Prime minister of the country recently gave her their highest civil honor, established a peace award in hr name and broke ground on an IT-focused College named after her that is open to all who want to study, male or female. Over the next few days she will be a rallying cry for an end to extremism and a beginning to peace, and the Pakistani people themselves will catch the ones responsible. She has a Facebook page--I recommend everyone go take a look at the massive outpouring of support and well wishes not only from Westerners but from her own people too.
GIL-2076580. I'm Pro-Choice, but anyone with a brain knows that Pro-Lifers believe fetuses are living creatures that deserve a chance to live. You don't have to agree with it, but it's easy to understand their point of view. They don't hate women and want to take away their rights. How does someone like you explain women who are Pro-life? Seriously, the only weakness you should be talking about is your own mental weakness.
Here's the deal. If any of what I write is new to you then you may have been one of the blockheads posting previous and were speaking completely out of ignorance.
1. When anyone follows Christianity as it is written, their lives get better and they enrich the lives of all of those around them. They will never kill, they stand up for truth, and personal responsibility even if it makes them unpopular or hated.
2. When Muslims follow the Qur'an as it is written, they are required to kill infidels at times. Every Muslim is called "The vengeance of God on Earth" by Muhammad and is duty bound to (in certain circumstances) kill other human beings. In any multicultural society today, Muslims find themselves in at least one situation every year where the Qur'an specifically calls them to kill an infidel, if they choose to follow the Qur'an they will do this.
3. Islam calls itself a religion.
4. Christianity is not a religion. Even though it is thought of as a religion by others. It actually is NOT a religion and Christ was avidly anti religious in his time. The New Testament states that the only religion God accepts as pure is "To be uncorrupted by the world around you and to visit those in their afflictions." Even in the Old testament, man's religions are thoroughly denounced across the board and seen for what they are which is a man made system for a capitalist spirituality that is often time rooted in the founders seared conscience, who requires his own penance to God from others.
Religion is slavery, but the truth sets you free.
God is real and active. Wake up people, being basically a good person does not merit perfection, nor can you by your own power become perfect. Salvation is a free gift of God through Christ's sacrifice. Seek him with all your heart, soul and strength and he will reveal himself to you.
If you do not believe, I will find someone that the news of salvation is not wasted on. I will not behead you. -Peace

Boy - to read all the posts by people who don't know what they are talking about. And quoting lunatic extremist groups on both sides does not help much.
The taliban is one branch of fundamentalist Islam. And fundamentalist Islam has its roots in Sufism.
And for those who have never heard of it - Sufism is the philosophy of living life like they lived in the 4th century - living like Mohammed did.
This philosophy used to be an outlier, and moderate muslim treated the followers like the nutjobs that they are. But this philosophy has been growing, and it is the root of Wahibism (in Saudi Arabia) and the Taliban. This sect (or cult) believes in exterminating all poisons from society. And western attitudes are poison to them.
If you want to post garbage - nobody can stop you, but at least try to learn the ruth prior to posting.
Here you are:
As another main golden rule, Quran says (English meaning translation):
" ... Repel the evil with one which is better (God commands his believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly) then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, will become as though he was a close friend". (Quran, 41:34)
SingBiker...(#2.3)..." Judging the entire religion by the evils perpetrated by the minority 2 0r 3% is unjust. "
Muslims population in 2012 is about 2.2 BILLION....http://www.muslimpopulation.com/index.html
3% is 66 MILLION in that little EVIL MINORITY you speak of....looks like we got a lot of work to do to rid the world of those 3%-ers that are giving the religion of peace a bad name.....
Why must we set these heroic folks by themselves, against these brutal inhumane cultists and their phony prophet, mohammed?
There is strength in numbers. Have a little guts, speak up. They can't kill us all, if we all oppose them. Make newsvine usefull for something.

Thank you so much for the exceptional video link. I have forwarded it, so far, to 23 individuals and institutions.

Even though this was is Pakistan your seeing this kind of stuff in all these countries our fine, brillant, president has liberated/supported from the evil clutches of secular dictators. Our brillant president has unleashed pandoras box in the middle east of religious crazies who want to bring Islam to the world. Is this what you dope liberals, progressives, and communists want? A world where women are suppresed, cant drive, cant vote, must walk behind the man, wear veils, etc. A world where gays are murdered. A world where non-muslims or agnostics are forced to conform to Islam or be beheaded. Yea thats a great world our president is helping to support. This is what you get when you dont vet a guy running for president. You have a guy that didnt live American. A man that grew up in a crazy world of absent parents, Islam and communism. The press never talked to pyshicatrists about how a man that grows up in a severly mixed up world will become a seriously mixed up adult. Now you have some arrogant nutjob as president that only listens to a crazy communist female advisor with his hand on the nuclear button. The press didnt do their job in vetting this guy because they are afraid of alleged racism. Its not racist to check a person out running for president.
@astounding Must I go through the Old Testament and list a bunch of sayings from the bible? How about the passages when God tells the Jewish people that they have a right to a certain piece of land? Why not go and reread it and you might find some of those same messages. How about when they retake that same piece of land thousands of years later (guess they were busy with something else more important instead). "A holy wind coming down upon", "The lion of Judea", etc. I wonder where Muhammad got the idea from in the first place...
I can show you videos of KKK members and other extremist religious groups that preach violence against others and they claim to be Christian. What does that prove exactly? How did we treat those God less American Indians? How did we do with Waco? What about Timothy McVeigh or any of the other whackos that commit mass murder? I could keep going on and on.
Can we be grown ups and admit that power and money corrupts even the best people. Power and money take things that were started with good intentions and turns them evil. It is the people that are evil not the thing in question. Insurance was a good idea until money and power corrupted people, and they wanted MORE. Unions, political parties, religions, banks, etc. all fall into the same category. They were good ideas at the time that humanity has f***ed up for personal gain. We are the only ones to blame. Why do we let money and power corrupt people in the first place? Maybe if we did not let people keep unlimited amounts of money, they would not mindlessly chase after it and sell their soul for it?
How many people tried to stop the KKK or speak out against it? How many white people stood up against the KKK? I know there were a few, but there were many whites on the sidelines waiting to see who the victor would be that did not say or do chit? Which was already after we had the bloodiest war in our history.
Can we be grown ups and admit that unregulated competition (capitalism) breeds and promotes racism, hate crimes, etc. It is only natural to side or ally yourself with people that look like you and talk like you. Why would people in other country be any different? How many people speak English in Pakistan? How many have computers or the internet? How do they know about us or are ways of life? How do they know that our way is better? Who is teaching them and what opposition are they facing? I bet they are having to deal with the same type people that I am dealing with here at this very moment. Western this, western that, Obama this, Obama that all sounds the same to me. It is the same chit from the EXACT same type of people that prevent the world from getting along in the first place. If fact it takes an amazing amount of effort not to fall into this trap.
I hope the little girl is doing alright. I do not see many comments even caring/mentioning about her. Just another chance to come here and promote your political/religious beliefs and to try to make others look bad. Pretty sure your chit stinks just like mine does, people are people no matter the color, sex, etc. No one is perfect or is without sin so why are you judging them again?
You want something from them you say, what might that be land? You are not fooling me, maybe some of the others here, but not me. I know what you really want.
And this is why so many peaceful Muslims are afraid to speak up against extremists. I wish every country would follow Kenya's example, and get rid of the Taliban. They have no respect for life, and there can be no peace with them.
I am guessing Malala is a Muslim, so this verse, concerning Muslims, would apply in this case:
I think it is pretty obvious which faction is the one that oppresses, and does not act justly.
Pakistani government you must protect your citizens against these blood thirsty fanatics.
God bless beautiful Malala and her family, I hope she will survive this horrible attack.
I am a Christian and have been all my life. My brother was a Christian who converted to Islam. Our parents raised us to be free thinkers. We were NEVER indoctrinated. We got to choose what called to us. For my brother, after researching Christianity for several years and then Islam, he decided that Islam called to him the most.
The Taliban, al Queda and other psychos like them, including some Christian fundie nuts, use God as their reason to kill, kill, kill those they hate. It's not about God at all. My brother and his Muslim friends have friends of other faiths and they are a very loving and caring group of people. They aren't horned devils.
So as evil as the Taliban and others are, please don't lump all Muslims together. I have met wonderful people who are of the faith. And looking back in history, Christianity has its fair share of slaughtering innocents. It's never about God with these nuts. They just use Him to promote their murderous agenda.
Anyone who uses NATO ammo as his moniker needs to go on meds.
singbiker,ab 1981,tina,amanda,sperskunk- You all sound likeall the other ignorant whitebread americans that can't comprehend the nature of evil. Your point of view comes from our ability to have freedom of speech, respect for everones individual rights, etc. these concepts apply to us americans. Islam is murdering thousands of people everyday. Don't dredge up the past. Inquistion? how many years has that been? I hope you can count. As for nut jobs killing doctors at abortion clinics(which kill hundreds of unborn humans daily), all you have do is count them on your hand. It is not a christian dogma to murder people. Islam does promote killing those that don't do as they say. Open your eyes to current events, then question your loyalty to our world, and our country, our future. If you can't/won't see through the madness that clouds your understanding that Islam is evil then there is little hope for americas future. Defect like that pampered little a— _hole that converted to islam. I'll bet he still lives here in the comfort and security of the united states
When I said "the Taliban is not all Muslims" I meant the Taliban does not REPRESENT all Muslims.
Wow, newsvine must be a vacuum, I don't hear a word out of you. Many tough talking posters, unless they have a little skin in the game, then we see how brave they really are.
What's the difference between your solution and the assassins, using violence to impose ones belief of right or wrong? And your action is being "strong"?
I am amazed how quickly people here pass judgements based on their moral standards, and that the world should adhere to OUR standards, or we will kill them off! I see no difference between us and "them".
We won't allow any other countries to have world domination because it is evil, but it is OK for us to police the world, impose our values on them, control all the natural resources on Earth, influence other countries via politics, and when all else fails, threaten them with violence. If anyone opposes this idea, s/he is unpatriotic. We quickly become accessories to a world dominating power (that we usually considered evil, unless it is the USA), yet we don't even know it!
Olivia writes:
Look at what you wrote as a first principle: "We got to choose what called to us." I agree that all people should be free to choose their own path(s) in life. But that kind of choice is not valued by Islam. In fact there is a penalty in Islam for someone who is born a Muslim and decides to follow their conscience onto a different road. The transgression is called Apostasy and it carries a DEATH SENTENCE according to Islamic "holy" text. The death sentence comes directly from Muhammad in the Hadith where he declares "He Who Changes His Religion, Kill Him!" That comes from THE most highly authoritative collection of ahadith, compiled by al-Bukhari, a collection that most Muslims recognize as unassailable. DEATH for apostasy, think about that Olivia. Had your brother been born a Muslim, and decided it was no longer right for him, he would be looking over his shoulder the rest of his life in case some radical would try to carry out Muhammad's command to have him murdered.
What does that say about Islam?
SingBiker,
There is no doubt that there are peaceful Muslims, but to compare radical Muslims and Muslims as a whole to the Inquisitors is a little out of date, one happened in the middle ages and if you ask any church they will all unanimously condemn the actions of the inquisitors, but for some reason all these peaceful muslim are quite and not a word from them to condemn the terrorist. The problem is until they rise up in mass demonstrations and condemnation they will all be guilty by association. Also, where do you think these radical groups get their money from? Peaceful Muslims.
Personally I think that we should start carpet bombing these idiots that think it makes them manly to go around killing children. To me they are the worst kind of cowards, and the sooner they get targeted by a drone the better.
Thank God this girl lived!
Hopefully, she will experience a full recovery.
@Mike 2130882
Nowhere does it say in the Quran to randomly kill. I don't know where you get your information (probably biased websites). If muslims are supposed to kill infidels, than why are only 2% doing that??? Oh, I know, because they're not supposed to. I really do wonder where people get their information
Never brought up the inquisition, never brought up killings at abortion clinics.
Open YOUR eyes to current events AND history !
Islam does not promote killing any more than other monotheistic religions. Grouping the second largest religion in the world as evil is just ridiculous.
Are there muslim fundamentalists out there, absolutely. Do I think they are crazy, absolutely. But the fact of the matter is the majority of the muslim world isn't extreme and evil like the Taliban and other extremist groups.
Apparently I'm one of the few that is concerned about our country and our future, as the rest of the worlds for that matter.
You are blinded by propaganda, "Americanism", and a fear of freedom. I love my country too much to leave it, which is why I defend it every opportunity I get.
If only that were true....
Well, just maybe there are Talaban Terriorsts and Moslim Terriorsts still operating, despite what our administration has been telling us over the past two years!
And maybe we haven't defeated, or weakened them, as told by an apologetic administration, but made them stronger and bolder.
And just maybe they are not all sugar and spice as the administation and state department claim, (we did elect a president who claimed their threat was just a political ploy to keep Bush and the Repulicans in power--and apparantly we as a populace bought that line and sinker).
don't care whether Republicans or Democrates are in power or even care to understand democracy.
Maybe they belive any co-existence is unthinkable from their viewpoint, because we represent the Devil and Evil, and it is their sacred-religious duty and obligation to kill each and every one of us and purge the earth of us infadels (this includes the so-called moderate Moslims who might occassionally enjoy a glass of wine).
I wonder if the administration and state department trully refuse to realize just how dangerous, and just how patient these Moslim radicals and their groups are when they target specific governments, or specific people (are if they are just covering up their impotence to do anything)?
I also wonder just how many liberals (and conservatives alike) here in the US belive they are safe and isolated from these events and just wish they would go away?
The issue is not whether or not Moslims are good or evil--or Christians--or any other religion.
The issue is whether or not the radical clerics have finally gained sufficient influence to push a religious war designed to take down any government or nation they deem to be impure in thought or deed, and whether or not they have the resorces and willpower to do so.
The issue is also to what extent the radical clerics and extremists groups (such as the Talaban) can communicate to control their people through fear, intimidation, or a genuine zealous religious devotion (and hatred for us--this is the SCAREY one)--and to what lengths and measures their followers will go to implement directives.
I think no matter what your political or religious beliefs, you would have to have your head buried in stone to not realize, based on thousands of posted videos (if you accept them as proof) that these are very dangerous people to a modern, civilized, and mechanized culture.
They shot a 14 year old girl (I have a granddaughter her age) who publicly spoke against their regime and expressed her devotion to President Obama. That's your answer.
Well Chuck, if you want to blame someone for gutting our military you can start with the Tea Party freshmen in Congress. They forced a compromise (Sequestration), which will be enacted on the first of the year because the "Super Committee" couldn't get it's sh!t together. I don't really know who you're referring to with your comment about turning our back on Israel. Perhaps you have, no one else I know.
The error was made in 2000 and 2004. It will take another 4 years to finish pulling us out of it...unless we elect another neo-con.
SuperSkank,
You must be sucking your own fumes. I did not say all muslims are eveil, I did say that Islam is evil-there is a difference. Besides, where are all these millions of peace loving muslims when these atrocities are being comitted? Where is the anger? Where is their vocal support of the U.S.? They are a non-entity except when someone draws a funny picture of that dog Mohammed. Then you hear them, is that not a "wee-bit" like your few extremists. Your fumes, like I said before is clouding your judgement, pull your head out of your A— — and smell reality. You said you will fight for your country every chance you get, well you don't sound american, so what country are you from? Americanism? o.k. what do you have. Americas not perfect , but it is hell of a lot better than the country your from. I have many reasons to hate americanism based on past injustices(I'm native American). But that won't change things. I do work in education, volunteer to help others, I fought in vietnam for four years. that is how I support my country. Historic revisionists abound, we must learn from the past and make it better for our future. that is why I continue to work for positive change. It just drives me crazy when ignorant dick wads like yourself try to add their thoughts on a comment without really thinking. You defend your country and I'll defend mine-don't let our paths cross in no-man's land. because God is on my side, your god (allah) does not exist.
this little girl wants peace in her country and why not she has seen such horrors. taliban puts her on a hit list she is so dangerous ....please. they dont like girls or women to be anything but obiedient and submissive , and of course breeders. the only reason she is getting the care is because she wrote and won a childrens peace prize. otherwise the goverment would not have gotton involved but they have to look good to the rest of the world.
my2cents ....are you serious your blameing the BBC sorry but your a idiot.
jeff........ you blame our president so I take it your for the repunkligans and what are they but christian taliban who want nothing better then to make slaves of all the women make them submissive and take thier voice and choices away from them .
I am so furious about some of the comments here . this little 14 year old girl was put on a hit list only the savage taliban and other fanatical muslim would do this . it seems to me that the muslims the ones you say are good will not stand up to them and want the americans to get rid of the taliban well it is not working exspecially when kazari in aphganistan is climbing into bed with them and pakistan is also in with them I say we all get the hell out of thier and let them kill each other if they dont care WHY SHOULD WE!!!! thier has not been peac in the middle east ever since the begining of time and worse since the prophet mohammad the mad man that he was started islam . I am so done with these filthy disgusting people .
I do hope the girl recovers but thier will be more taliban going after her till she is dead dead dead. that is how they are and I am sure next time they will rape her first because they all rape then kill girls/women over there.
Ron, there are numerous muslims speaking out against these atrocities. Young muslim girls brave enough to go to school are muslims speaking out against it. Wasalu Muhammad Jaco frequently speaks out about it. The Free Muslims Coalition speaks out against it. And countless other muslims, you're just atomized and isolated by the propaganda system in this country.
Your post alone is fueled by anger and emotion, while logic, common sense, and intelligence are being left behind. Making assumptions about me and attacking me while I have done neither to you, and I never will because I love you. You're at war with love.
Do you actually believe that our military is being used there for freedom, democracy, liberty, or just plain old doing the right thing ? That's not what is happening there, it's all for corporate profits and the military industry our politicians have created.
I don't blame you, and I surely won't blame the soldier. I blame our "elected" officials.
I agree that we must learn from past mistakes, but it's not happening, it's only getting worse. Are you aware of the American federal government's involvement in the Middle East. Are you aware of instances like Operation Ajax and Operation Cyclone ? That is what I'm talking about.
I'm from this country, I love this country and what it's SUPPOSED to stand for.
"Men and women rarely admit their fear of freedom openly, however, tending rather to camouflage it-sometimes unconsciously-by presenting themselves as defenders of freedom. They give their doubts and misgivings an air of profound sobriety, as befitting custodians of freedom. But they confuse freedom with the maintenance of the status quo; so that if (the educated perception of social, political, and economic contradictions) threatens to place that status quo in question, it thereby seems to constitute a threat to freedom itself." - Paulo Freire "Pedagogy of the Oppressed"
I would point out that in attacking another poster and calling us 'ignorant whitebread Americans' you yourself indicate you're little better than that which you castigate.
My point of view is not from 'our ability to have freedom of speech.' You have far more of it than I do. And while I try to respect everyone's individual rights, it also comes from my own experiences of having none.
Sitting in a deportation camp getting hit, kicked and spit on for calling myself an American because someone else decided I didn't have a right to do so, changes one's perspectives. Having no individual rights--being told to take off all my clothes at someone else's request, being forced to allow a man to stick his fingers inside me against my will, to be left bleeding after that and not have the right to ask for a doctor changes one's perspectives. Being so afraid of your government putting you in jail for the rest of your life if you make even the smallest misstep that you don't get a car, you don't drive, you don't register to vote, you don't get a social media profile because someone can track you that way, stay in a city you don't like because you're afraid to move, that changes your perspectives.
I know what it is like to be afraid to speak, to do certain things, for fear of persecution by others and by the government. So don't call me 'ignorant' when you know nothing about me.
I was pointing out where each of the Abrahamic belief systems are in their religion's evolution. For clarification:
I am not part of the Abrahamic belief system--the Jews/Christians/Muslims, so I look at all of you from the perspective of one outside of it. There's not much of a difference between the Holy Bible and the Qu'ran.
While the majority of them (particularly those in Westernized countries) have learned that lesson, there's just a few sects that are fighting the advancement of time. it will happen--I firmly believe the next twenty years or so is going to see an end to the conflicts in the Middle East.
I did not compare the two, I was pointing to specific instances in each religion's history where a decision was made to play nice with others, and pointing out that the Muslim world has reached that point as well. As the Bible was written/created in 329 CE and Islam was founded in the 7th century CE, Christianity has had three hundred extra years to evolve. Within the next twenty years Islam will catch up. Religions evolve and mature, and Islam is no different. They will, it's simply a matter of time.
Again, let me point out that name calling does not lead one to think any more highly of your intelligence than you apparently thought of mine.
As you pointed out in the latter half of your post, you served in Vietnam. There have been Muslims in our Armed Forces througout the history of America's armed conflicts, and what the soldier next to you called his God meant little in war. My Dad was also a Vietnam and Korea vet and he told me the only thing that mattered out there was whether your brother-in-arms had your six, not what he called his God. For you to belittle and marginalize their service and their sacrifice disrespects them and disrespects whatever branch of the Armed Forces you fought in.
Now, as for where these peace-loving Muslims are:
In Benghazi, public outrage by the people over the killing of Ambassador Stevens caused the people to rise up, storm the compound that the militants were hiding in, and kill some as they drove them out.
In Somalia a coalition of military forces from a number of African countries got together and stormed the beaches near an al-Quaeda stronghold. They called it al-Quaeda's D-Day, and it resulted in them being driven out of Somalia.
This has just happened in the last few weeks, in case you've missed it even though it was front page headlines on NBC News. But even prior to that there was massive outpouring of anger from the Muslim commnity over 9-11, and over the embassy attacks. I recommend you do a google search for 'Moderate Muslim Reaction to 9-11' and see what they have said.
Yes, when someone responds to a comment without thinking first, they tend to make blanket generalizations (particularly about others whom they know nothing about) that in no way reflect the reality of that other person's life, thoughts, and views.
Fortunately I believe I may have bit more in the way of emotional and mental maturity not to let someone's typed comment on a computer screen 'drive me crazy' but instead respond in a calm reasonable fashion without resorting to name calling.
The God of the Holy Bible and the God of the Qu'ran are both the same deity. Adam, Abraham, Joseph, Cain and Abel, Noah, Lot, Moses, Joshua, Jonah, David, Solomon, Job, Aaron, Zachariah, Elisha, Elias, Eleazar, Deborah are all mentioned, the Immaculate Conception involving Mary is described and they do acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah, Son of Mary.
I worship the Goddess, and humankind was worshipping the Great Mother since we we as a species were still fingerpainting on cave walls. Our belief system has endured even through the Greeks and Romans trying to wipe us out, the Jews and Christians trying to wipe us out, and the Muslims. Practically every belief system in the world has tried to wipe us out.
So if practically EVERY belief system on the planet has tried to wipe us out and yet we are still here, by your reasoning would that not mean that my Goddess is stronger than your God?
That, however, is not what we believe. There is no one true way, and my Way may not work for you (and your Way not work for me) because what I perceive as my truth is not the same as what you perceive as yours. It's what you do that matters, not whose Name you do it in.
And a child shell lead the way.
Well said arizona tumbleweed
I trust that Code Pink will rush over to protest this atrocity?!
Oh... nevermind, they're too busy protesting against the drone program that targets the Taliban and al-Qaida terrorists who deliberately perpetrate atrocities against beautiful young girls like this.
Since British invented Pakistan, a pure Islamic nations, there have been too many children like the above one.
Most lost the battles some where down the line!
Pakistan is an example of extreme levels of religious madness! History has not seen such lowest levels of religious barbarism!
US and allies have kept these liabilities and curses on earth on the map!!!
They are paying back by being responsible for half of NATO forces deaths in Afghanistan. Has the history such ungrateful and backstabbing allies/friends?
Adam44, what Code Pink is protesting is the fact that your beloved drone program has blown up many innocent girls just like this one. You can call them collateral damage, but they're dead children in any case. Why is a child killed by a drone worth less than a child killed by the Taliban?
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
Brent writes:
No, the drone program has not blown up many innocent girls just like this one.
The drone program is designed to specifically target the terrorists, not innocent civilians. Usually that means waiting until they are driving in a car along a remote stretch of road before blowing them up. Or, sometimes if a compound is a beehive of armed men it is blown up if there aren't signs of women or children around. Has a civilian ever been killed by mistake in a drone strike, yes, but it's rare and it's never intentional. On the positive side, a lot of really nasty, murderous terrorists have been killed by drone strikes, a good thing.
@My.2.Cents.Worth, you're two cents are worth dong (vietnamese currency). The BBC is not responsible the Muslims and Taliban are responsible stop trying to be tolerant towards the wrong people. Islam calls for the killing of infidels which is anyone who is not Islam. Look at all the conflicts around the world and how many invovle Islam, it is not a peaceful religion and if given the time and opportunity it will come to America. Look at Dearborn, Michigan where they are trying to institute shariah law. Islam is a false religion detemined to convert or kill everyone.
The allies are fighting a political war in Afghanistan and Pakistan; as such, we are constantly hampered by increasingly restrictive rules of engagement. Calls for fire support are denied to avoid civilian collateral casualties or destruction of property, drone strikes are called off, airstrikes are diverted, and often this is done at the expense of the deaths/wounding of coalition Soldiers. If we conducted this war like we fought WWII or the Korean war, it would have been over long ago, but at the cost of thousands--possible tens of thousands--more civilian dead and wounded, villages destroyed, and far more anti-Western resentment in the Muslim world than is already present. The Soviets fought it that way, and they failed miserably. In Viet Nam we saw the fallacy of fighting a war where tactical decisions are tempered by political expediency. It's a no-win situation. Like Viet Nam, this "war" will drag on and on until Pakistan and Afghanistan can together push the Taliban out, deny them their safe havens, and orchestrate a popular opposition to radical Islam among their own populations. It will NEVER end as along as it's seen as a war of Western intervention.
This child is an incredibly brave old soul with a specific mission in life - to move the human condition forward to a better place through her own sacrifice. If she doesn't survive her injuries, it's only because she's already earned the privelege of returning to an even higher level of spiritual accomplishment. She is a true inspiration.
People, we need to ban together and denounce the Taliban as the "devils work"!
We need to educate the people of the world that the Taliban is the devil in disguise at which they are.
Let move this campaign further and include your local and federal politicians. They are the ones that get the press. Lets see is they have the spine to move this forward. Then get the backing of the world!
Yes, I believe that a child has led them, they have given her the status of Martyr and she lives in the hearts of many young people who will one day overcome the evils there hopefuly sooner than later..God bless her I wish I had her courage.
well said.... hope you are right!
but terribly sad for this child.
we grew up with softball, hot dogs, hamburgers, riding bikes, flying
kites and sometimes chasing butterflies.. peaceful existence...
i feel so sorry for these children that endure what they do...
wish all kids could have a simple childhood as we did in the past..
I read this article and was humbled and was given hope by the extreme courage this child has displayed through the past several years of her very young life. She is not the only one. Please, all of you, read this link which is diplayed in this story.
'New radicals': Pakistan's Generation Y battles to shape country's future
These young MUSLIM people ARE raising their voices against the Taliban, knowing that doing so marks them for death.
I am disgusted that people can respond to such a story with so much hate. I am disgusted that so many people believe that violence from the US is the answer. And I am also disgusted that so many think that world-wide belief in Jesus is the answer. The only answer is to help empower these courageous young Muslim people.
And whose job is that to do, Zeeva? Muslims need to assert "moderate Islam," if it really exists, and take back Islam from the radicals
Just to clarify, I do believe that there are millions of "moderate Muslims," but I don't think that Islam is a "moderate" religion. The Muslims who take Islam most literally (as it commands that it be taken) are the radicals and fanatics.
For the "moderates," Islam is just a part of life, not the whole life. For too many Muslims, Islam is EVERYTHING and they are the ones who will kill for it.
And the Taliban spokesman was so matter of fact in giving his reasons why they wanted to kill a fourteen year old girl. What big men these self proclaimed defenders of Islam and Pashtun "culture" are.
Thug is a major understatement.
Yes, and THIS is why the drone program is necessary.
Most of the Islamic militants are the biggest cowards one can find on earth.
Even for killing this innocent girl, they must used more people with better logistics!
They attack in mobs; they do suicide bombings wearing burkha/niqab; they shoot down innocent people with all weapons; they do bombings with bombs in cars, trucks and so on; they love attacking/stoning/raping girls and women, unarmed or minorities; and use other patented Islamic style of killings!
Why should Pakis be scarred of drone attacks?
@ClevelandRocks and any other clueless blowhard who puts all Muslims into the same basket:
The crime committed here by the Taliban gunman was done against a Muslim girl because she spoke out. The vast majority of the Taliban's and Al Queda's victims are in fact Muslims in their own countries, because they speak out, or don't practice the thugs' version of Salahfist Islam purely enough (or, simply because they need to make the populace more afraid of them). However, many clueless bigots in this part of the world dismiss an entire religion and the over billion who practice it because of the actions of the thugs. Islamism is every bit as bad as its critics proclaim, but the critics on the front line, and most of its victims, are Muslim. Just because the moderates don't get coverage in this country doesn't mean that they are not there. Just like most of the people here are clueless about the actions of self proclaimed Christian extremists in other parts of the world, especially sub-Saharan Africa.
And by the way, the fact of this crime also contradicts those who posting here who say it's just the culture over there. It's not. Just as the suffaragists and the abolitionists and the civil rights activists fought cultural evil here, there are those who fight cultural evil over there. We should not be writing them off. Malala deserves much better than that.
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
It seems like arming most Muslim women so they can shoot their husbands, fathers, brothers and Taliban trash is the best solution to these sickos in the Muslim world. Maybe President Obama can get 500,000 Afghan women and the same number in Pakistan to join their country's' army. I'm sure that they would make a major difference in the country, if these women could take out their male, trashy, subhuman county men.
Agreed. It takes a real 'godly' man to shoot a 14 year old girl. What abominations these men are, bullying others and murdering children. I hope she survives and becomes an inspiration to those who are tired of living in fear from these thugs-with-guns. They are simply cowards who wouldn't be able to stand their ground without each other or a weapon.
Children, especially female children, aren't of much value to the Taliban. They recently killed a seven year old boy.
And these are the people the left firmly believes they can sit down with and talk through their problems. The only reasoning the Taliban and their supporters understand is that which either falls from the sky in the shape of a missile or comes from the barrel of a gun. In the end you find that the only way you will win against the Taliban is to kill every single last one of them.
@JohnH-3553959 "In the end you find that the only way you will win against the Taliban is to kill every single last one of them."
Pretty much what Hitler said about the Jews, the KKK said about black people, and what the radical Muslim's say about Americans. I'm hardly a liberal, but what you say is no different than what the Taliban is saying.
Until moderate Muslim's stand up and condemn atrocities such as this, move with rule of law to round up offenders, and exercise true democracy, tragic events such as this will continue. You'll not create positive change with missiles or bullets supplied by the West.
JohnH- since you have to classify people as left or right, I assume from your comments you are from the right. How would you suggest we kill every Taliban? You are a nut job!!!! I suppose that just nuking Pakistan is your answer. That way all the innocents like this little child can be killed by the US.
What about all the Christians that are killing people in the name of God? Do we kill them as well?
That's what I can't stand about people like you...just kill more...that's your answer!!!!!!!!!!
Hardly a comparison there Alotta the Jews never declared war on the Nazi's and the Blacks never declared war on the KKK
and how does our constitution come into this remedy of yours for the taliban? why does our founding fathers admonishing of foreign alliances and meddling in the internal affairs of other countries trouble you so?
Where is this still happening? or are we still stuck in the distant past as a justification for the Taliban?
"Until moderate Muslims stand up...."
You a betting man? what will happen first - moderate musllims standing up or Hell frezing over?
Alotta Fagina,
There is no such thing as a moderate Muslim. What you say is a moderate Muslim is an infidel like the rest of us. If they were moderates, they would be speaking up against what is going on, but they don't.
"Pretty much what Hitler said about the Jews, the KKK said about black people, and what the radical Muslim's say about Americans. I'm hardly a liberal, but what you say is no different than what the Taliban is saying.
Nonsense. There is no moral equivalency; the Taliban is pure evil and either you kill pure evil or it will consume you... there is no other choice, you cannot appease or negotiate with evil.
Do you Bleeding Heart Libs not understand that the Taliban want to kill everyone that does not believe in their principles and the shooting of this little girl is proof of that and yes they even want to kill you as well. They do not want to sit down and chat about it they just want you dead and will not stop until they have succeeded or they all die trying
@danimyl
"Hardly a comparison there Alotta the Jews never declared war on the Nazi's and the Blacks never declared war on the KKK"
I don't recall that this article revealed the 14 year old girl "declared war" on the Taliban either. Besides, it was the other way around...... When you decide to kill everyone because their religion or color is different than yours, you've made a monumental mistake. I'm pretty sure history bears out this logic.
"What about all the Christians that are killing people in the name of God? Do we kill them as well?"
PLEASE LIST "ALL THE Christians that are killing people in the name of God?
The Congo and across much of sub Sahara Africa.
Perhaps we need a massive relocation program of all women and young children from Taliban controlled areas. Provide education for all of them and let them blossom elsewhere, in safety.
Except that's not what he said. He said we should kill all the Taliban. That's like saying during WWII that we should kill all the Nazis. Would that have been such a terrible statement? It's not like saying we should kill all Germans. He targets the ideologically infected.
We are at war with the Taliban who are perpetrating terrible atrocities against men, women, and children, not to mention trying their damndest to kill our soldiers in Afghanistan. This is a war and they are the enemy, why shouldn't we try to kill them?
Actually, many moderate muslims here, and abroad, speak up against what is going on. Most you never hear about. For example, I bet you had never heard of this girl prior to her being shot.
Don't get me wrong, I think religions are all nuts, but if you realistically want to reduce bloodshed demonizing an entire religion is counterproductive and will lead to more radicalization.
@ ClevelandRocks.
http://www.shipmentoffail.com/fails/2009/11/hell-frozen-over/
Comon, really. Did you really think that there was even a small chance of moderate Muslims standing up against things like this before the inevitable happened first ?
NLFT - India
The guy in Norway who blew up all those people in the name of fundimental christianity
Romania, Uganda, and more
Christians are killing doctors who perform abortions "in the name of God".
Christians are shooting up mosques here in the U.S. and shooting Sikhs, whom they are too stupid to distinguish from Muslims.
Does that meet your criteria, George and danimyl?
It does mine.
I'm not a Christian but that type of killing is quite rare. Taliban and al-Qaida, by contrast, represent MILLIONS of radical Muslims in the world today. Still a minority of total Muslims, yes, but not the "tiny minority" we hear so much about from apologists.
What mosques have been "shot up" here in the U.S.? Be specific please. The guy who shot the Sikhs was a damned Nazi, not a Christian, and that Nazi ideology also quite clearly explains the atrocity he perpetrated.
To reduce losses, carpet bomb Paki Islamic militant areas. We have enough troubles from them in Afghanistan!!
Wow I love what Floretta has said. Now thats best damn idea i've heard someone say all morning. And the hell of it is that it could be done way cheaper than any war effort....
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
1st, since I didn't see 1 post praying for the girl, from right or left. Allow me to offer my thoughts for a braver childthen most people writing about her. Now, will you people stop all the hate with people that disagree with you. Tim Mcveay first mass murder by christian soldier on US soil, Minn. home to the largest christian miltia anti government force. As a profeessor of mine once said any ism is bad. No pure ism works, when you can truely give the same rights to others without forcing others to be exposed to your way then you might find peace. If there is a god, I'm sure he is puking his brains out at what has been done in his name.
Ha! I was wondering how far I would have to scroll before I found posts equating Christians to these Taliban animals (no offense to animals). I have to admit that there are fewer on this threat than in previous ones. Maybe the non-equivalency of these religions is beginning to sink into a few of the not-quite-as-thick heads.
Jehovah God is the only way, our salvation comes from him. Islam is a false religion wether moderate or extreme and although us Christians screw things up ofter if does not change the fact that Jehovah is the only true God. I wish you all a good day. God bless America, and this little girl in Pakistan.
Who the hell is Jehovah?
Really dude? If you don't even know who Jehovah is you probably can't speak intelligently about anything associated with western religious belief systems. I hope you are kidding.
If not, Jehovah goes by many names...
Robert writes:
Mcveigh was not a Christian at the time. He committed his atrocity out of revenge for WACO he said, having nothing to do with Christianity. Isn't it hateful for you to connect Christianity with what he did when clearly Christianity had absolutely nothing to do with his terrorism? Think about it Robert before you cast stones against others for being hateful.
Has the Minnesota Christian militia force (or whatever you're calling it) harmed or killed anyone? After what you've written about McVeigh, I doubt that Christianity has much if anything to do with the MN militia either. But of course everyone else hates, not you. p.s. I'm a small "a" atheist myself but your hypocrisy bothers me.
Jehovah is the God of Israel and the God of Christians. Too many people equate all gods as the same which is far from the truth so I put Jehovah to distinguish that I am not using God as a generality, but I am referring to the one true God.
People associated with all religions have killed - sometimes in the name of their religion and sometimes not.
Hell, the BTK killer in Kansas (I believe) was at church regularly and very involved in his church.
But it's not just about killing - hell, the Catholic Church allowed pedophiles to do basically whatever they wanted and didn't do anything except for move them around and hide them.
Also - in case none of you remember, after 9/11, our country was trying to figure out what to do about being attacked.
Our President was asked - are you discussing with your father about this? (I mean, his father was a former president) Our President responded with - No, I'm talking with a higher power (meaning God).
Well, it seems that God advised him to attack an innocent country and start war(s) across the Middle East. So, while you might be saying - Christians aren't killing people, someone on the other side of the war could say - your country went to war with us because your God told your President to do this.
I know that probably doesn't make sense to some of you, but I'm sure it does to some of us.
Name one good thing a religious person can do that a secular person cannot. You can't.
Now name a terrible thing a religious person will do only in the name of their beliefs? You don't even need one second to.
Anyone who claims that Christians kill in the name of God need to check their facts. When so called Christians do these things they are doing the exact opposite of what Christ has instructed. There is not even a verse that points toward these kinds of behaviors anywhere in the New Testament. When the Crusades happened, the atrocities were done by men who for the sake of gaining power and wealth for themselves decided to disobey Christ's teachings and run amok, murdering and raping.
When Muslims have their crusades, they are actually following the Qur'an. If they want to follow the Qur'an fully, they are required to have and continue in a murderous crusade until their are no more infidels left alive, or that the few left alive are subservient to Muslims.
for Cee-830269: any idea where Romania is on the map or maybe you confused it with Rwanda?...HUGE difference! I would inform myself better before writing about...hmmm..let's see...how did you call it? oh, yes: "fundimental christianity"
So following "Jehovah" is the only way, huh?
Millions of people on this earth would take issue with your claim.
So millions of people are doomed, is that what you are saying?
Even if true that BTK was a Christian (which none of us know for sure), it doesn't equate to a vast worldwide network of BTK killers organized to kill in the name of Christianity. THAT is what we are facing with al-Qaida, the Taliban, and all the other affiliate members.
A handful of nutjobs is just that, a handful of nutjobs. A vast, organized network of religious killers, as Islam sports, is something much, much deeper and more dangerous.
The Christian Taliban does the same thing in this country, Persecuting and KILLING Gays, and Abortion Doctors and Nurses.......ALL IN THE NAME OF GOD........
We have the same kind of extremists in this country who want to take over the Federal Government and Legislate their Religious Views on ALL OF US........
PDug19. Guys like you are the real danger who spout lies as if it is fact, twisting every shred of substance within an argument. You are the nutjob and you would do well to listen to wisdom and shape up in your life before your own consequences consume you.
You know nothing kid.
PDug: Show me evidence that there are the same amount of killings perpetrated by so-called Christians in the US as there are in the Mideast, and we can start to talk.
The Religion of Peace at work! I wonder how much money we still give Pakistan, talk about a country that needs harsh sanctions!
We have to support them because they have "the bomb"!
Hey for all you good folks that are saying christians are killing people in the name of God. You are very very wrong. I can claim to be a martian go kill a bunch of people in the name of god duzamanti and then you can say the martians are killing people.
Get it through you feeble heads they are not true christians, they are not even any kind of christians they are fodder of evil and do not represent any christian sect anywhere. You ever hear about christians dancing in the streets in joy over the murder of innocent people. Get your dunce hat back on and back to the corner with you.
More than 97% of the muslim people condemn the actions of the radicals over there is the information that I read on this subject. Most have enjoyed peace and wish to keep it that way. Thats ok though keep pushing them all back into a corner and they will no choice but stand and fight....
Thats what Malala stood for and thats what we need stand for too....
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
@ Bullet. You can't have it both ways. If you dismiss violence done by self proclaimed Christians in the name of Christianity as non-Christian, you really have no way to argue against people who dismiss violence done by self proclaimed Muslims as non-Muslim.
See: The No True Scotsman Fallacy.
People like astounding and others on this page ASTOUND ME! I will start with astounding, you misquoted many hadiths but I decided to concentrate on just one major one for now. The following hadith below was used as "evidence" by astounding, to blame muslims being killers.
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 256:
you claim that this hadith is evidence for killing innocent women and children, yet you dont quote
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 257:
Narrated 'Abdullah:
During some of the Ghazawat of the Prophet, a woman was found killed. Allah's Apostle disapproved the killing of women and children.
*Ghazawat is the plural meaning forbattles
What I want to know is where are you credentials to discredit Islam. Why do ignorant people like you get listened to but yet so much eludes so many people.Where are your credentials to discredit us? The People of the U.S are no strangers to violence either War in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, WW1 and WW2 being primary examples. All of those wars were based on BS and superstition, like WMD in Iraq, or destroying the terrorists in afghanistan. Or the commies invading the U.S and destroying the lifestyle of the U.S. Many non-muslims use the hadith that urges the Muslim to increase their might as much as they can. Yet I ask the American people, who invests in their military more than you? Non muslims make the claim that we kill innocent women and children. so I ask again, didn't your military do the same in Iraq and Afghanistan? Peeing on dead corpses of men and shooting so called insurgents which were nothing more than women and children? You call us murderers and yet will spend 8 billion dollars on halloween this year alone and sit by and watch as the syrian people and burmese people get slaughtered for doing little than adhering to their religion? Dont think people will forget will you stood by and did nothing. You got yourselves involved in the ME and then when you were really needed you left. So don't stand there act like your innocent.
The "No true Scottsman Fallacy is a fallacy in itself because it depends on what is being claimed. Whether it is true or not in the first place impacts the so called fallacy. In other words; it is not always a fallacy.
Nemesis. Why dont you write the other chapters in the Quran telling you how you are the instrument of Gods vengeance on earth, or how you should kill polytheists etc. Post verses about the law of retribution which has been the main source of unrest and violence in the middle east for decades. Islam is a RELIGION that caters to mens carnal natures, through vengeance and even promising fornication in heaven which is ridiculous because the kingdom of God is a spiritual place. As a glorified spirit in the kingdom of God we will have no sexual organs and will have no need of such things. So the men who wrote in the Quran that you will have "Buxom Women" in heaven have written this in ignorance of God and his kingdom and make promises that are lies. They have lied to their followers in order to try and win their loyalty by attaching themselves to the deep carnal desires of those they are enslaving for war.
You point out atrocities done by Islam and the only excuse you give is that others besides Muslims have done similar things. This is not a justification for evil. To say "I am not evil because you are evil and do the same things as me." Is just admitting to your own evil. Your argument is invalid, because you highlight the very fact that you argue against.
Islam is evil and a lie. Muhammad was NOT a prophet and all who follow Islam are under a curse from God. Leave Islam today so that you may come to know God and know peace.
The law of retribution was overturned by Christ who said that "Mercy triumphs over justice" and that you must forgive others if you wish for God to forgive you. The higher law came before Muhammad and is still in effect today. The fact that Islam teaches the carnal law over the true spiritual law is evidence of it's departure from God's will and truth.
Dude, quit talking.....-__- you make no sense. Arguing against myself? I was only highlighting that not every muslim is bad, just like Muslims may do wrong things so do christians. you want proof how merciful our religion is here is a small list
from Dr. M. Hafiz Syed.
Inscribed on the hilt of the Prophet’s sword: ‘Forgive him who wrongs you; join him who cuts you off; do good to him who does evil to you, and speak the truth although it be against yourself.’
Islam
Every religion has a distinctive virtue, and the distinctive virtue of Islam is modesty.
*
Anyone who walks with a wrong doer in order to strengthen him knowing all the while that he is a wrong doer, has departed from Islam.
A Perfect Muslim
A perfect Muslim is one from whose tongue and hands mankind is safe, and a true emigrant [muhajir] is one who flees from what God has forbidden.

The messenger of God said to me (Anas), Son, if you are able, keep your heart from morning till night and from night till morning free from malice towards anyone; then he said, Oh! My son, this is one of my laws, and he who loves my laws loves me.

The best of Gods servants are those who, when seen, remind one of God; and the worst of Gods servants are those who carry tales about to do mischief and separate friends, and seek for the defects of the good.

That person is nearest to God, who pardons, when he has someone in his power, one who would have injured him.

It is unworthy of a Mu’min [a person with faith] to injure people’s reputations; and it is unworthy to curse any one; and it is unworthy to abuse any one; and it is unworthy of a Mu’min to talk arrogantly.
*
All Muslims are as one person. If one complains of a pain in the head, the whole body complains; and if the eye complains, the whole body complains.
*
All Muslims are like one foundation, some parts strengthening others; in such a way they must support each other.

I came to Medinah, and saw a man whose counsels men obeyed, and he never said anything but they obeyed him. I said, ‘Who is this man?’ They said, ‘This is the Rasul of God.’ Then I went to him and said, ‘Give me advice.’ Prophet Muhammad said, ‘Abuse nobody.’ And I never did abuse anybody after than, neither freeman nor slave, nor camel nor goat. And he added, ‘And if a man abuse you, and reveal a vice which he knew in you then do not disclose one which you know in him.’

We were with the Prophet on a journey, and some men stood up repeating aloud, ‘God is most great;’ and the Prophet said, ‘O men, be easy on yourselves and do not distress yourselves by raising your voices; truly, you do not call to one deaf or absent, but truly to one who hears and sees; and He is with you; and He to whom you pray is nearer to you than the neck of your camel.
*
The most beloved in the sight of God, on the day of resurrection, and the nearest to Him, in regard to position, shall be the just leader; and the most hateful of men in the sight of God on the day of resurrection, and the farthest removed form Him, shall be the tyrannical leader.
Faith
You will not enter paradise until you have faith; and you will not complete your faith, till you love one another.
*
A man asked, ‘O Prophet of God! What is faith?’ The Prophet said, ‘When your good work gives you pleasure, and your evil work grieves you, and you are a person of faith.’ The man said, ‘And what is sin?’ he said, ‘When anything disturbs you within yourself, forsake it.’

Faith is a restraint against all violence, let no Mu’min commit violence.
Oh and lastly, quit talking about my Prophet (pbuh), I don't talk about Jesus (pbuh). A truly religious person would keep their mouth shut about people who spread good despite their ill minded thoughts about that person. The only hypocrite I see so far is you!
It's uneducated people who THINk they know what's right. As for Pakistan, we just need to replace everyone who has a political office...
Everything you wrote came from the Bible that was written already when the Quran came out. You again neglect to write any of the other things in the Quran that reveal it as a religion of war and a religion steeped in rebellion toward God through it's commands to be Gods vengeance on earth and it's law of retribution. You speak out of one side of your mouth sounding sweet, but what we see in Islamic nations are factions fighting, brutal oppression and war mongering. This is the fruit of Islam. Not only that, but Islam while teaching to listen to the prophets, systematically denies the prophets and teaches the opposite of what confirmed prophets teach. They also lie to you about what those prophets actually spoke.
Muhammad was not a confirmed prophet like Abraham, Moses, Isaiah and the others. Muhammad claimed to have a vision, but his teachings are directly opposed on many fronts to confirmed prophets who also had visions, but their visions confirm one another and are confirmed by the precepts and known personality of God. When God spoke "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord, I will repay." and Muhammad says " You are Gods vengeance on earth." There is a big problem. If you are truly Muslim, you must study the other prophets and understand that Muhammad teaches lies on many issues and he is NOT confirmed as a prophet. If you do not deny the fallacies of Islam, you cannot be a true Muslim, or man of God. You not only deny Muhammad's words by not studying the prophets, but you deny God who sent Jesus here for salvation. If you understood the prophets and power of God you would understand that Jesus was more than a prophet and Muhammad was not worthy to beg at his feet. Muhammad denies Christ and the Gospel of God. This is called being Anti-Christ. Islam is the enemy of Christ. Killing his people. Islam is the enemy of the Jews who are chosen of God. The Jews have fallen away to an extent, but God has made them a promise. They are his people and all of the prophets who speak of the end show that all who fight against Israel shall receive the wrath of God. It lists the nations; Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and several others from that region. Coincidentally, every single nation that is listed to receive Gods wrath is a Muslim nation. Why would Allah prophesy through confirmed prophets about the wrath of God on Islam if Islam was so holy?
The only answer you could possibly have to this is to deny the prophets, thereby denying the words of the Qur'an. Either you must deny confirmed prophets words, or deny unconfirmed Muhammad. There is no choice.
The Bible says that the children of God know his voice. Those who know and hear the voice of God are not Islamic. Islam teaches that we as humans are no longer spoken to by God. There is not a single Muslim alive who has spoken to God, or had a vision, because when people do experience these things, they will be ostracized by Islam, but bigger still, they see the error in Islam and convert. Therefore there are no people in Islam who actually know God. There are only people who follow a religion as taught to them by men. That is all.
Dude whats the point of talking to you, your just a waste of time. Of course the bible has similiar things in it because at point the Torah and the Bible preached the same thing, One god and his messenger. The Quran is the same thing, it preaches one god and one messenger. It was revealed because the people of the Torah and the Bible started spouting nonsense about man (either being Prophet Jesus peace upon him or Elijah) being a son of god. This is the last time Im speaking to fools like you. Its a waste of time and energy.

If only you made sense...too bad.
Well maybe she had it coming! She was having wicked evil thoughts about the Tali ban!. Whart big Mo's they are!
Pakistan Taliban members, For this attemped murder 12 Korans burn tonight. You have shown your colors by attacking a girls now come see me (and my .45). Screw you cowards and your child molestor prophet.
This is what the Taliban offers the world. This is their vision. Any group of people who are willing to park outside of a childrens school and kill 14 year old girls for any reason should be considered a cancer to the world. The entire world should stand up and hunt every single member of the Taliban down like dogs and kill them where they stand. This organization and any person affiliated with it should be wiped from the face of this planet.
On a side note, perhaps the inbreeding within the Taliban is affecting the minds of the off-spring in a bad way. This group represents an evolutionary dead end in the human species. That limb of the tree of life should be cut and burned.
I garantee these people that when they see their lord in the afterlife it will be to recieve their ticket to hell. I'm pretty sure God would not support killing children for any reason...they are the most precious of us all to him.
Rot in hell dirtbags. RIP little soldiers of freedom!
Well said Troy.
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
My 2cents. I appreciate the sentiment. It has some validity, but remember, the Taliban did this to her, not the BBC. In fact, I don't believe that the BBC were on any shaky moral ground in any of it. It was simply the Talibans evil deed. We cannot let their evils scare us into relinquishing our rights, liberty and freedom.
@mike-21.... There is responsibility on the BBC to have the common sense to know, understand, expect the retaliation from such evil people. They could have protected this girls life by withholding her name. It was senseless and irresponsible of the BBC to publish her name and thereby allow her to become subjected to their evil and ultimately be hunted down and killed all in the name of liberty and freedom. Her diary would still have been a useful tool to them even without her name being released. Anonymity could have allowed her to continue her life. If they were going to publicize her name, the least they could have done for her was to provide her protection, relocation or something. Even a pseudoname would have been acceptable. This is disgusting.
I am so sick and tired of radical groups that use the worst of religions, cling to the worst phrases and attitudes, and try to proclaim they are doing's their deity's work.
How in the hell are we supposed to achieve peace when every religion has so much evil mixed in with its potential for good?
The best news I have heard so far this week is that less than 50% of Americans now identify themselves as Protestants and 20% have no religious affiliation. Most of that 20% believe in God and have a spiritual life but do not claim membership in any organized church.
Not every religion has "so much evil mixed in" to it. Only one religion on planet earth today motivates followers to commit such atrocities in its name. One can argue that such fanatics are "hijacking" the religion but that begs question of why there are so many of them. I mean, if it was just a little misunderstanding, you would think that they would've cleared that up by now.
Anita-2036926: A lot of that 20% are probably the most rational about their beliefs too. Having all of the extra rules and heirarchy just dilutes the message and brings in tons of human corruption.
Perhaps the key is understanding the difference between religion and organized religion: the former is spiritual- the latter, political.
Mixing politics and religion creates an organization that believes it does the work of God by imposing His will on others, which is a contradiction in terms.
The key tenet of most religions is salvation through choice- expressed by voluntarily seeking to learn and to accept the will of God.
It often encompasses service to others, filial piety, respect for the needs of others and the abandonment of personal greed.
I should also note that fellowship seeks to gain better understanding through group study- it has no agenda beyond spirituality.
As a consequence, it has no involvement with politics per se.
The best parallel I can draw might be the difference between money on an individual level- and money organized and used by a bank.
The latter should have the potential to do good- like most credit unions- but most of the time banks turn to the dark side, especially after they hit a certain size...like Chase or Bank of America.
No one can deny that there are many churches out there doing good works- and if their raison d'etre remains service in the name of God- then no harm, no foul.
But when they become militant and seek to impose God's will as they see it, I firmly believe that they have lost their way, and now serve the Father of Lies, not the will of God.
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
It's too bad each religions potential for good still really isn't that great. Secular society has the same opportunity and drive to achieve the same peace without the terrible side effects.
Kill kiil da taliban, If this little girl die's, she will be a mortar, God acccept her as a little princess who only wanted peace and education for her people
there is your love and peace, have the bleeding heart liberals not realized yet, you cannot make peace with the terrorists, that is kind of why they are called terrorrists.
I've got a great idea here, how about we send the far left and far right political zealots over to fight the taliban, I mean we all win, the bleeding hearts will try and make peace (get shot, decapitated) and the right wingers will try and put them in a McD's uniform or will try to kill them back, and might get a few, and will take a few hits as well, so we all still win on both fronts.
I just know what to day about those Talibans any more! I hope that the US is not still giving money to Pakistan. Think about it, Pakistan was taking our money to hunt for bin ladin, but they were hiding him in their back yard to make sure that no one can get him! Pretty smart, huh?
"My brother often prays 'O God bring peace to Swat and if not then bring either the US or China here.'"
China?
By comparison, China seems awesome to somebody living under the Taliban.
Yeah, can you imagine hoping China would help you? They pray for China because Afghanistan is LOADED with copper ores and while we are fighting to keep law and order and get the Afghans to stand up to the Taliban, the Chinese are mining the earth. The only way to finish off the Taliban is for the Afghans and Pakistani's to do it. Don't hold your breath.
The girl is in Pakistan, not Afghanistan! The taliban is such a bunch of effing cowards! How they can possibly claim a connection to ANY religion is beyond me! They are nothing but worthless thugs!
Shows how desperate the situation is over there for the population. Anybody praying for Chinese intervention has it pretty damn bad.
They're certainly not praying for Code Pink to come rescue them!
Yeah, even China is preferable to taliban, the Chinese women and children have a much better life than people under Islamic rule.
Seems like the BBC sealed this young girls' fate when they involved her in their plan to expose the actions of the Taliban and then publicized her NAME. Why did they do this to her?
China is "Fantasy island" compared to where she lives now.
And some complain that we go after these knuckle-draggers with drones?
What will it take to get Americans and American dollars out of Muslim countries. We give them weapons to kill children. They are the sickest of bastards.
Oh Islam is a religion of peace they say. I don't think so. Jesus said " By their fruits will you know them" Fruits of murder
No more so than christianity in some of its finer historical moments....(Protestants vs. Catholics, how many were burnt then? etc, etc, etc)
These people are taking a good concept (like christianity, about peace) and turning it vile and dispicable.
I agree with Erich Lohn
When was the last time a Christian killed someone in the name of religion?
Chuck-351578
Answer to your question. Dr Tiller was killed in the name of christianity.
Chuck - 5/31/09, George Tiller was murdered by Scott Roeder - at Tiller's church in Wichita, KS.
Did the Christian church agree with the killing of Tiller and promote more? I don't think so. Don't confuse what one "Christian" did with a group. The Muslims are supporting the killing of people like this girl. There is a big difference that many people refuse to see.
NLFT - India
The guy in Norway who blew up all those people in the name of fundimental christianity
Romania, Uganda, and more
I'm sure today, in the Congo and other places in Africa. There are local warlords who claim divine right to rule in 99% christian nations. It's the same thing.
What makes you so sure? Do you have some facts you would like to share. In the Congo Africa Christians go to Church and get bombed by Muslims. The Islamic faith is spreading like wildfire across the African continent.
Have you never heard of the NLFT ("Nagalim for Christ") in India? Or the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda and the Congo?
Chuck - you didn't ask when was the last time someone committed a murder in the name of a church - you asked when someone committed a murder in the name of Christianity.
Fundamentalist Christians "denounced" the murder of Tiller as wrong but then justified it by stating that Tiller was, in their view, a murderer.
Likewise, the Taliban are a group using fundamtalist Muslim beliefs to justify their political agenda, just as fundamentalist Christians do. Fundamentalist, be they Christians, Muslims, Jews or whatever want to impose their belief systems on others and consider violence a legitimate means to do so.
The Taliban are justifying the attempted murder of this girl. Most Muslims do NOT support or condone the actions of the Taliban and similar fundamentalist terror groups.
Anita,
The big difference is most Muslims that do NOT support or condone the actions of the Taliban are not true Muslims. They can call themselves what ever they want, but they are not following the true Muslim faith. Christians that justify the killing are not true Christians. How can one claim to belong to a group, but not follow the rules of that group. That is like Palosi calling her self a Catholic when she clearly doesn't follow the Church's teaching.
Get real, people. When you can show me that some Christian or Jewish group has a hit list with a 12 year child on it, I will agree that there is an equivalency here.
Are there nuts of all Religious persuasions? Sure. Is there another Religious group as despicable as the Taliban? Not in my estimation!
According to Wikipedia - The Taliban and Muslim Brotherhood share the same ideology....that kills, steals and destroys. If it walks like duck, talks like a duck and acts like a duck, it must be a duck. So, why would our wonderful president have the Muslim Brotherhood in his administration?
What is this, a pissing contest?
My religion has killed less people than your religion?
All religions are guilty.
And there is no such thing as a "religion of peace."
All religions rely to an extent on coercion.
The Taliban will point out that they represent a civilization that has been around for centuries. Too bad they never evolved beyond the third. This is just another indication why rabid animals are euthanized.
And where are all the news about the 14 year old girls killed by Obama's drone attacks?! I don't support the Taliban whatsoever, but the US killed many more children than the Taliban ever could. After all the US are responsible for the Taliban being in Pakistan in the first place. I am an Atheist but I will pray for that girl.
Boy are you ridiculous. The US did not create the Taliban there, what a stupid statement. US=Mohammad? And then you state you are an atheist but will pray? You are not only confused you are delusional.
And that makes it OK for the Taliban to shoot these three girls? Killing is wrong, no matter who does it, or didn't your parents teach you that?
bee
if your neighbor sprays for cockroaches and they scurried into your house would you welcome them or the people who wish to eradicate them?
(libs,,,,go figure...........)
Skip over the negative comments here about you.......Maybe your trying to turn the corner in your life to see that there is a God after all. Congratulations....:-)
What I meant by "responsible for being there" is:
Before the so-called "war of terror" started in 2001, there was ONE suicide bomber attack inside Pakistan territory. Between 2007 and 2012 there have been 352.
The "war on terror" is making everything so much worse. And it is endangering your beloved United States. It's called Blowback.
BeeTeaK, Perhaps the difference is that the US was trying to kill murderers and killed innocents by ACCIDENT, while the Taliban INTENTIONALLY targeted a CHILD for death... Real tough guys don't go to schools to shoot children. They are the worst scum on the face of the Earth to target children and practically brag about it... Men who cannot think for themselves but need a centuries old book to tell them how to act in the 21st century are severly demented and stuck in a barbarian age...
BeeTeak,
You are very ignorant on this subject if that is what you think. And this is just my opinion but, Pakistan is to blame for the Taliban in their country. They need to keep their own house clean...its a filthy house.
Group of people kill school children in the US would be lucky if the police got to them before the rest of us!
Know what....pray on it if you will. Not being sarcastic, honest. GOD would not this senslessness.
Bee is not very eloquent, but clearly the war on terror has resulte in a more radicalized middle east. We should have responded to 9/11 with carefully executed strikes against identified targets. NOT war against two nations.
Sometimes a sledge hammer is what you need, but other times a well placed ball-peen hammer is better. We could have reduced radicalization, avoided major collateral damage, and saved ourselves a sh!tload of money.
Not to be a jerk but if you are an atheist and don't believe in a higher what or who are you going to pray to?
The U.S. has NOT killed more children than the Taliban and al-Qaida. And when it does happen it is an accident. We don't target innocents, the enemy does. Unfortunately in war there are civilians who die in the crossfire but it's quite a significant difference that the enemy TARGETS innocents to be murdered and we don't. That's why we're at war with them in the first place because they murdered some 3,000 of our civilians on 9-11.
beateak you have got to be kidding!! Im too pissed to say any more!!
I would agree and hope that our federal government doesn't target innocent civilians, but it does happen, and it's more often than it should be. Out of the 3000+ killed in drone strikes, over 800 civilians (176 children) were actually reported killed. Other experts have estimated, the low estimate is 20% civilian casualties (600+ civilians). The higher estimates are around 50%. The reported kills are enough for me, bring our brothers and sisters home and end this whole false "War on Terror".
And I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but it wasn't the Taliban that attacked the World Trade Center on 9/11.
A message to the remaining rational and compassionate world: This is what a large minority of Muslims are capable of doing. Wake up and smell the Sharia coming to a kindergarten near you.
If the neo-nazis don't get there first.
You have a MUSLIM child attacked by Islamic fundamentalists and you make it a war on your religion. Put down the mirror - this isn't about you (fwiw, it usually isn't, either).
Dearborn, Michigan. United States of America.
Perhaps you didn't read what I had read about the fact that most muslims world wide being 92% to 97% of them condemn any acts of terror on anyone for any reason.
Most today carry a more modern stance that violence is wrong in any walk of life....
Warthog -
Google "Gallup poll muslims support suicide bombing." Then come back with your figures - revised.
Warthog - what that Silent Majority needs to do is stand up to their muslim brothers and say "enough is enough". Until that day comes, this turmoil will continue. There aren't enough armies, drones nor money on this planet that will be as effective as that movement. Maybe they are just as scared as the rest of the civilized/uncivilized world and choose to do nothing. God bless that little girl ~ she has more courage than 1000 taliban. Hopefully she will recover and with her family, be moved to a safe location (wherever that is) so that she won't have to look over her shoulder until she dies a natural death at an old age.
Cant we develop a virus that kills anyone in turbans?
yep its called a bunkerbuster
I was thinking that a few well placed 250 megaton sanitizers would do the trick....kidding of course.
Sharia law will go where all trash belongs in my house....into a trash can and on to a big dump for someone to dig up and wonder about in two thousand years.
Or one that kills just idiots....
One that kills idiots would make this board a pretty lonely place...no more gems from IA Scootertramp and his ilk....
they can have it......
They're certainly not praying for Code Pink to come rescue them!
The Taliban are cowards...wonder what mohammed says about cowards.
when hes done with his goat....er ...girlfiend ...ask him............
its a goat. definately a goat.
Scooter
If you think you want to make a movie about it, better watch your "six". ya never know which taliban mullah will put a fatwa on you. or 2 L G will put a "pox" on you and your first born. hehehe
This just makes me sick in the heart, the head, and everywhere. How can anyone say they are serving God by murdering a 14 year young girl that it promoting peace.
Where are all the "so called moderate Muslims" crying out against this? I don't see any. Maybe they are afraid their families will likewise be murdered. But by not coming out and speaking against this in a very harsh and vehement way the end up allowing this to not only happen but for these devils to be emboldened even more to continue their murderous, wicked, and evil suppression of women.
Islam is just plain evil at its core. NOT a religion but a political cult masquerading as religion.
Time for speaking is over. Time for cutting the huge Taliban cancer from the muslim gut has come. You can't "speak" to these people. They have to be wiped out. And I mean, big hole, lined up and mowed down.
Sorry, this story just really pisses me off. All you can think about is your own children....
The girl who was promoting peace is Muslim.
Don't think you are in the position to be throwing flame bombs like your chosen handle, when the very terrorist act that is the subject of this article contradicts your premise. Point of reality, there are not only moderate Muslims speaking out against this garbage, quite a few are taking up arms against it.
Islam is the religion of peace? Yeah, right! Nothing but scum and although I'm not a betting guy, I would bet that absolutely nothing will be done to bring the scumbags to justice, just like nothing has been done about the slimeballs who decapitated the 6-year old girl "to make a point" and the two men who publicly shot their mistress in the head. Nice people! They're all sick and we need to back away and let them kill each other off. And now Mr. Romney wants to get us into the Civil War in Syria. He's looney, too.
"If it comes down to a war of religions, I will stand with the Muslims." Barack Hussein Obama.
Jaypea, can you give me a reference for your Obama quote? Would like to read the article you got this from.
He never said any such thing. Honestly!
Besides this isn't about the Muslim religion. This is about the Taliban and Al Qaed. There are 1.5 billion Muslims on this planet, living all over the world, second only to Christianity. There are only about 40,000 Taliban and 1000 monsters of Al Qaeda. It's absurd to think all Muslims support these monsters. This little girl didn't support the Taliban but you all sound as if you'd just as soon kill her as the men who tried to just because she's Muslim.
It may have been something he wrote when he was in his 20s. Can any of us defend EVERYTHING we did or said when we were that age?
Here you go Vet:
I atually misquoted and I apologize. The actual quote is, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction." The quote can be found on page 261 of the paperback edition from Obamas book, "The Audacity of Hope."
You're an arse. Does the pea stand for pea brain?
Whatever dude. I'm as right wing as it gets and also I understand that young people say stupid things. I garantee you that President Obama does not carry the same belief system he had when he was twenty. None of us do.....idiot. Are you 20?
Remember his youth was during the civil rights movement. Black people in this country were trying to find sources of hope and the promise of a better life...lots were looking in all directions for this and I'm betting Barak Obama isn't the only one who said those types of things.
Also, we are not talking about muslims as the cancer. The cancer is in the muslim world is the Taliban.
This is an example why it is good to pray that God will punish those who bring violence and war to children and innocent people.
It will all come to an end of some sort soon. There is more evil than good in the world right now, and that is a recipe for destruction. The innocent will be rewarded in the end. That poor baby, to suffer so much adversity and still grip to life. Most Americans have never seen such horror as this little girl has in her short life. Peace be with you dear.
Tanana and troy have their heads on straight, which i'm glad to see....
It is unbelievable how the women and young girls are treaded
over there!!!!!!! I just thank god that my daughter does not live in an environment
like this poor girl.
@TexasRed, that's ironic because I am praying to God that my little girl won't have to by the time she is 14. The road this country is on I'm not so sure she won't unfortunately.
American women for Obama cry out against the war against women because a Catholic University won't dispense birth control pills to a Georgetown, 32-year-old co-ed who is then summoned to speak to a senate committee. Today's women advocates have their head up their arse and are missing the big picture
??
WTF?.............. anyone got a gibberish to English dictionary handy?
I'll try to decipher...I think he's saying American women are wasting their time on trying to get free birth control, when womens bigger plight is being vitims of stoning, beheading, murder, rape...etc. Allah Akbar!
Tom mc - you're just bat*&^% crazy. What relevance does the fact that she is from Georgetown, is 32, a co-ed, and who speaks to a senate committee have? Does that make her some kind of evil-doer. Good lord man. Get a grip. And I wonder exactly what your vision of the 'big picture' is. A world where half the population are subjugated, who are forced to live at the will of misogynistic jerks like you. Are you defending a world where 14-year old girls are killed because they want peace.
Ulysesses has it right - ??
If you don't understand what tom is saying, you are incredibly thick.
the scary part is that his comment has 5 'likes'. geez...
Well this girl Malala should she survive this ordeal, would be the perfect candidate for womens right movement world wide....
Very few goings on in the muslim world make me believe that we should do anything but let them handle their own problems, but this...I would join any effort to wipe these dirtbags off the planet by any entity capable of organizing such a force to do it. And Im not talking about resting a country back from the Taliban or peacekeeping or nation building. I am talking about hunting each and everyone to the ends of the earth like the ferral dogs that they all are if need be and....well, you get the picture.
Free birth control was just proven to prevent abortion by Washington University in St. Louis. That's not a free pill, but free IUDs. It says that people "forget" to take the pill; actually, the pill stops working anytime a woman needs to take antibiotics for a sinus infection, so some better form of birth control is needed.
But that has nothing to do with that is happening in America. At one time, Planned Parenthood had something to to with Parenthood or Lack of Parenthood, but they HAVEN'T BEEN ALLOWED to do that for a while. So, what is being cut when their funding is cut all over America by Republicans? Heart health, cancer screenings, and general check-ups for women are being cut. That isn't dangerous?
America has a very high crime rate against women, almost always men against women, not women against women. The Domestic Violence Act was sponsored by V.P. Joe Biden when he was a Senator, and it does something to help protect women in America. What has the Republican Party done? Force rape victims to go to more hearings? Take away rape victims' rights based on pseudo-science that has nothing to do with human biology? This is certainly an attack against women here; women DIE of violence in America too.
The Taliban are true cowards. Shooting young girls and innocent bystanders should give a sentence of death without a jury. I hope that other good Muslims or some group of religion or politicians rise up and kill all the Taliban SOBs. That is the only way out of the hopeless situation at hand...The Taliban will never change, they have no morals, no love and no respect for life.
This is the kind of life every good Muslim strives for. Death, mayhem, absolute poverty--unless you are part of the ruling class pulling the strings and aiming at world domination.
The shooting of that girl is a terrible thing. Maybe in a show of support we could fly a drone up that soccer player's arse and have it play the Star Spangled Banner.
Where do you get that crap about every Muslim striving for death, mayhem, and poverty?
Did you just pull that out of your a**, or what?
You should see this movie called "The Kite Runner"
The Afgan people and even people in Pakistan used to be like normal people. Sure there were some who were conservative and some that were moderates and sure they were poor but it was not that different from other places in the world where there is a constant tussle going on between conservatives and moderates.
Then the scourge of radical fundamentalist islam starting spreading from the middle east outward into these traditionally conservative but tolerant countries and then it got further co-opted by the power hungry thugs of Taliban.
You would see how they destroyed the traditional fabric of the society and hi-jacked their religion for their own personal gains. It is a sad but instructive spectacle about how we must be on guard against the rise of the politico-religious nexus under the garb of security and patriotism. It is a lesson we in the US should be particularly concerned about because some of the similar forces that destroyed these two countries are at work here too.
Taliban love blood and praise Satan before killings. Let us defeat these cowards for they are killing children!
Lot's of them also molest little boys, rape goats and kill their mothers. Anyone capable of that is a bad apple.
K, I'm just being alittle mean but I'm sure it is true. I do think that members of the Taliban are at the very least a ragtag bunch of hillbilly inbreds.
Hey leave the hillbillys out of this, what a freaking insult to hill folk.
Hillbilly's,Really. Ever see a Hillbilly do any of this kind of S!@T Moron. Geez. These 12th Century idiots have no equal. They or we know where most of them hang out,Waziristan. Take a few MOAB's level the area out then let the locals take care of the rest of the scum that's left. This is the Dumbest F-ing so called war ever. To let our soldiers get killed for nothing is just INSANE. Like the saying in the other Dumb war Vietnam says Kill them All and let their so called God sort them out.
Bullet,
LOL. Funny. I was thinking that after I posted it.
Manuel, screw you if you can't take a joke....and I'm not joking this time.... since you are so literal I have to point it out I guess.
I need to apologize to our beloved inbred hillbillies. You guys are much more preferable than someone who works out in their screwed up mind that god wants them to shoot little defenseless girls.
To be fair though, I don't really consider inbred hillbillies and hillfolk to be the same people.
You hillfolk know which ones I'm talking about don't you...
Troy, I'm sure your peeps have been banging each other for years. Quit acting like your all high and mighty. At least hillbillies can cook and play musical instruments. What can yours do? Oh, collect welfare? Yup.
Perhaps her death was the greatest act of charity she could have given to this world. Without her death, we, the people on newsvine, would not be as conscience of the battle between good and evil in the Muslim culture
