At least 14 people were killed and 25 wounded in a suicide car bomb attack in western Pakistan Saturday, local officials reportedly said.

The attack, at a market in Darra Adam Khel in the Khyber region, appeared to be aimed at pro-government militia formed to fight the Taliban, Reuters reported. It said 15 shops and eight vehicles were destroyed by the blast.

BBC News reported that local medical centers could not cope with the number of casualties so some of the wounded were taken to other towns in the area.

The Pakistani government really needs to crack down on the Taliban. They made a devil's bargain when they decided to let them have certain areas of control. You CANNOT appease terrorists. We learned that a long time ago. How long is it going to take them?

I dont agree with street gangs but they dont attack the public in retailiation to government or religious mandates. It is true that most are criminals but there are government entities that fight these groups. But the militant terrorists attack innocent people because they are cowards and hide behind a hideous religion that endores violence. I call them cowards because they attack innocent people, they will not engage in diplomatic forums and they hide amongst the public, using them a human shields. Street gangs do not hide, as a whole. They mark their territories, so it is not hard to find them. I am a liberal also so please, choose your words more carefully and think before you do speak. There were men killed in the attack too. Only some men are in the Taliban. Yeah protect women and children from explosions, because that's totally possible.
As always evil makes the most innocent pay the highest cost in seeking out its purposes. Inflicting harm, suffering, devastation and death deliberately and only when good courageous people step forward to help its victims will evil be stopped.
And to that end... the United States needs to stay the hell out of Pakistan.
Until the citizens of these Middle Eastern countries, who find themselves under Taliban control and/or influence, stand up and fight the evil within their own country, no involvement from outside sources is going to make any real progress in stopping these Islamist extremists from continuing their reign of terror.
We went to Iraq. We suppressed a LITTLE BIT of Taliban activity; they mostly just moved around. We left Iraq. The Taliban is making a comeback.
We are in Afghanistan. We suppressed a LITTLE BIT of Taliban activity and shuffled them out of certain areas. We plan to leave Afghanistan... and these extremists will make a resurgence.
Pakistan needs to step up of their own accord without U.S. help. We as a country do not need to be sticking our noses in yet another unwinnable situation when we cannot even take care of our own country properly. There is no vigilante, house-to-house shooting from U.S. forces that can take down the Taliban. It is a cultural problem within that particular area of the world.
Although how the general population cannot see the true cowardice of the Taliban--these "brave" men who shoot children and blow themselves up out of some twisted, perverted sense of righteousness--is beyond me.

Hate to say but islam does not put face value on human lifes. Life is cheap in muslim countries, where everyone have no say on what the cleric or imam have decided, brainwashing in sermon are the norms anyone straying out of line or speaking up is punished with death. These uneducated illiterate clerics/immams wants to stay in the 7th century barbaric savage stone age, will not allow others to adapt to the 21st century. The numbers killed are not enough for the suicide bomber to deserve 72 virgins. There should be at thousands plus killings to deserve Allah's promised virgins.

It is a loose confederation of primitive tribes that have been competing with and fighting against each other since the Stone Age. This will continue to be the case because of this ingrained tribal mentality, and there's nothing the West can do about it. As it so happens, Britain found this out the hard way in the nineteenth century. We haven't learned from them, OR the Soviets.

I wonder how you come to the conclusion that bombing a marketplace is a good thing. I don't believe a mind that is that broken can be reached with reason. If the people who live here didn't provide for the needs of the terrorists the terrorists would starve. The religious paranoia zealots latest savage deed. There are 16 confirmed dead and over 40 injured in the suicide attack blast in the Aman Lashkar Centre at main market of Derra Adam Khel. In addition to the human losses and injuries,scores of shops destroyed,damaged. The dead and the injured were shifted to Iwhat and Peshawar Hospitals.

The article mentioned that the intended target of the attack was a pro-government milita set up to fight the Taliban. Why, then, are some of you saying that the people of Pakistan aren't fighting the Taliban? Did you even read the article?
The Pakistanis collaborate with al Qaeda--they hid bin Laden. However, the Pakistanis don't fight the Taliban. Many of them support the repressive treatment of women. But the Taliban, being extremists, often blow up less "devout" Muslims like the militia (with "devout" being "murderous"--the gauge by which Muslims seem to measure devotion to the faith). Don't you even read the news?
These suicide bombings are just part of a normal day there. They need to get the imans who preach violence and hatred out of the mosques and into prison. True faith doesn't require anyone to run to a religious center to pray several times a day. These mosques are where the men are brain-washed against other Muslims, other faiths and America. To remain in control, the imans demand obedience under fear of death.

Now is the time for all Pakistani people to stand up to the Taliban. They are using their old scare tactic to terrorize the local citizens of Pakistan into submission through fear. With all the media attention directed on Malala Yousafzal, another one of their victims, they feel their final stronghold in Pakistan is being threatened and their only defense is to kill innocent unarmed men, women, and children while they shop in the local market. These are not the acts of honorable men, they are the acts of cowardly bullies conditioned to get their way by brutalizing innocent unarmed honorable people. The Pakistani people have a right to live their lives free from the oppression of the Taliban. Now is the time to change their course of direction towards a Pakistan that honors their human rights and allows girls to get an education which will not only benefit the girls, but the country as a whole by raising the standards, improving living conditions, and improving their economy. The Taliban doesn't want that, they just want the Pakistani people as their submissive servants
These suicide bombs are too weak! Need to start using more C-4 or Simtex. Like to see one big enough to wipe Pakistan off the map.
They already are using C4 and SEMTEX. There are much more powerful explosives available, but none that can be made at home in the kitchen. It's the hashish that the suicide murderers smoke before the attack that makes them think they are going to cause more damage.

Does no one see the obvious? Everyone keeps complaining because the peaceful Muslims do not speak out against the terrorists, but when they do, people die. They are afraid.
