News analysis
Where is home to the largest number of Americans living abroad, as well as the world's richest man?
Which country is the United States' third-largest foreign supplier of oil?
Which nation did President George W. Bush call the U.S.' most important bilateral partner?
Which close American ally has lost some 60,000 lives in a U.S.-backed effort to combat violent crime?
The answer to all of the above is Mexico.
But despite the many ties that bind the two countries, the United States' southern neighbor barely warranted a mention during the presidential campaign, and didn't come up once during the third "foreign policy" debate between Gov. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama.
President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney discuss foreign policy in the third and final presidential debate.
This omission is not lost on many in Mexico.
"At times the United States sees Mexico as an unconditional ally and they see us with the stigma of an undeveloped nation," said Eduardo Rosales, director of the United States-Mexico relations master's program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). "But the United States needs to put their eyes south. It is the most important bilateral relationship in the world."
Some Mexico-related news is grimly familiar to most Americans -- tens of thousands have died in violence since outgoing President Felipe Calderon declared war on the country's drug cartels at the end of 2006.
Mexico's drug war: No sign of 'light at the end of the tunnel'
Mexican cartels funnel between $19 and $39 billion worth of illegal drugs to the United States every year, according to the State Department. The United States, in turn, is a major source of weapons for the cartels.
Mexico's death toll remains stubbornly high and swathes of the country virtually ungovernable despite the Merida Initiative, a $1.9-billion U.S.-funded program aimed at fighting trafficking, organized crime and money laundering.
A vivid example of the shared security challenges came in August when Mexican police officers thought to be working in cahoots with the cartels ambushed and wounded two U.S. agents.
Violence, including the discovery of 49 mutilated bodies near the U.S. border, is reaching new levels in the ongoing drug war in Mexico. NBC's Mark Potter reports.
Oscar Alvarez, a college student in the northern state of Coahuila, alleged that much of the blame for the violence and crime lies with the United States, the world's largest consumer of illegal drugs.
"The demand on drugs is not being controlled ... and Mexico will always be affected," said Alvarez, 22, who has a small printing business to help cover the costs of school. "Whoever wins (the U.S. election) needs to act. I've heard a lot of talk but I haven't seen anything get done."

That the drugs trade and the hyper-violent crime that surrounds it is a shared problem has not been widely accepted in the United States, according to UNAM's Rosales.
"The problem is the consumption and the things that surround it such as violence and money laundering," he said. "It's a reality that is neglected by the United Sates. But our bloodshed continues to grow."
Cross-border methamphetamine trade booms amid Mexico's 'war on drugs'
It isn't clear how incoming President Enrique Pena Nieto of Institutional Revolutionary Party, which governed Mexico for about 70 years, will deal with the cartels, but indications are that many in country are losing patience with the drug war.
"I'm against the war," former Mexican foreign minister Jorge Castañeda told NBC News in May. "At six years on, it is beginning to look more difficult to see any kind of light at the end of the tunnel."
Jorge Castaneda, former Mexican foreign minister and NBC News Latin America policy expert, talks about the latest developments in Mexico's drug war where this week 49 mutilated bodies were found near the U.S. border.
Crime and cartels do not define Mexico.
It is one of the United States' most important trading partners. Its economy, the world's 14th largest, grew at 5.5 percent in 2010 and 3.8 percent in 2011, according to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, despite the global economic downturn. Trade between the United States, Mexico and Canada -- members of the North American Free Trade Agreement -- is worth more than trade within the eurozone.

A symbol of Mexico's growing international economic prominence is Carlos Slim Helu– a telecoms tycoon with wide-ranging investments including a sizable stake in The New York Times – who topped Forbes' list of the world's richest people in 2012.
But despite billionaire tycoons and high growth rates, the anemic economy north of the border is hurting Mexico.
Mexico leader's message to US: 'No more weapons!'
Isidoro Peyron, owner of a family-run tile-making business in Pachuca, central Mexico, says the United States' slowdown has hit him directly. Whoever wins Tuesday's election must kickstart the economy for the sakes of both the U.S. and Mexico, he says.
"The next president of the United States needs to reactivate the American economy," said Peyron, 63, who has stopped exporting to the United States. "They are (Mexico's) main commercial partner."
Nevertheless, U.S. trade with Mexico totaled about $500 billion in 2011.
Also in this series: Suspicion of US rife as Obama, Romney jab China
The 2,000-mile border between the two countries makes this trade easier, but the easy access also fuels another issue that both unifies and divides the U.S. and Mexico: immigration.
At an estimated 12 million, Mexicans are by far the largest immigrant group in the United States. And around 7 million, or 59 percent of undocumented immigrants, are thought to have come from Mexico.
The Justice Department inspector general found no evidence that Atty. Gen. Eric Holder even knew about the operation that brought more than 2000 guns into Mexico. Fourteen federal law enforcement officials, however, are connected to the botched gun trafficking operation. NBC's Pete Williams reports.
While Obama decreed earlier this year that hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants who went to the United States illegally as young children would be entitled to remain, the promise he made in 2008 to reform immigration has not been fulfilled.
Meanwhile, there have been more deportations under the Obama administration than during any other presidency in modern times.
Also in this series: Should next US president treat Russia as friend or foe?
But even though Obama has disappointed many for not delivering on immigration reform, the UNAM's Rosales did not hold out hope that Romney will resolve the problems.
"If Romney got to power, there would be zero chances of an immigration reform," Rosales said. "If Obama is elected a second term, it's still hard, but the chances increase."
In his public life, Mitt Romney has said and written little about his ancestors' history in Mexico. It's a little-known fact that there's a whole branch of Mitt Romney's family living south of the border, including his second cousin Leighton Romney, and about 40 other relatives descended from religious pioneers who first traveled to Mexico 125 years ago. NBC's Mike Taibbi reports.
Romney favors a U.S.-Mexico border fence and opposes education benefits to illegal immigrants, as well as offering legal status to illegal immigrants who attend college, although he would support doing so for those who serve in the armed forces.
More Mexico coverage from NBC News
Mike Reyes, who currently resides in Mexico City, lived in Arizona for eight years as an illegal immigrant. He feels the U.S. fails to appreciate what immigrants like himself contributed to the country.
"We hope the situation with Hispanics can be resolved in this election," said Reyes, 45, who works as a driver for the public transportation system despite having a degree in business.
Net Mexican immigration to the United States has stopped growing and may even have declined in recent years, according to a recent study. But with about half of Mexico's population classified as poor, economic realities are likely to continue propelling many Mexicans north for years to come.
So immigration policies pursued by the winner of the 2012 presidential race will have an impact not only on the United States but Mexico.

"The United States, in turn, is a major source of weapons for the cartels."
That sentence is the key, I believe. The US now is one of the world's major supplier or weaponry. If Mexico ever gets its act together, the US arms makers will lose a great deal of money.
Of course the US is the major supplier of weapons. What else would you expect from a nation that harbors a very large number of fear-filled fundamentalist Christians who are used by the NRA for fun and profit?
Good Luck President Obama.
We got your back on Tuesday....
Republicans, Dont forget to vote on 11/07/2012. Romney's countin on ya
The day before that, you can spend gettin ready for the big day 11/07, but dont miss work though....handouts could be coming to a close for you folks in the RD States.
"There's never been a day in the last 4 years I've been proud to be his Vice President" - Joe Biden
Hey Biden....I agree. There hasn't been a day all the unemployed and food stampers have been proud either.

LOL......idiot
If you think this then you know that only the democrats and the politican and the gun control plus the criminal will have the guns...
Benghazi Obama blames , you tube, free speech , our 1st amendment..
Fast and Furious, Obama blames , our 2nd amendment for the violence in Mexico.
Obama 2012 Give me your Money, Give me your Freedoms !
Help him finish America, what he started !
Mexico is one of the fastest growing economy, and a stable democracy with a two party system.
Viva Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!
But Mexico has been hurt by a drug war that is a result of American drug habit - Americans would rather use their money to buy drugs than paying taxes to improve bridges across the nation. All the drugs originate in South America and cross into Mexico to get to the US. Mexico has been a victim of American vice.
"Romney favors a U.S.-Mexico border fence and opposes education benefits to illegal immigrants, as well as offering legal status to illegal immigrants who attend college, although he would support doing so for those who serve in the armed forces." Agreed. And no more anchor babies. Still voted for Obama, though - especially after the secret meeting of the rich with Bush in Grand Caymans. If those rich bastards had their way there would be only one world order - theirs. They're working on it.
Arrest Eric Holder!!
Arrest Eric Holder!! He knew what was going on!
Mexico is a dung heap of poverty and misery, full of openly corrupt politicians and military officers who will take bribes at the drop of a hat. Stable? That's a laugh. lol...
Bullsh!t. If Mexico is such a 'great place', then why are people coming up here in droves illegally.
That was a rhetorical question, I might add...
And we incarcerate more hopheads here than anywhere else in the world. The drug war doesn't have to be won. That will never happen. But it does have to be fought. If the criminal cartels win, lawlessness and anarchy ensue.
How right you are! The U.S. Government insures that American $$ keep flowing that way. The largest majority of hard users are those on Government subsidy, sad but true. Solve that problem. The politicians aren't, they would lose their kickbacks.
there is nothing America can do to help Mexico; we have spent billions on our border in a failed attempt to stop the drug trade and illegal's from coming in by the millions; we buy their sulfur oil , since no one else wants it, we have given billions of aid, we have given them most favored nation status for their imports ; the only thing left is invade , take over the country and be at war with the cartels for the next fifty years, which would be a foolish move; Mexico is a basket case, the drug cartels control most of the country; as to the weapons, most are being bought from other sources, you can not buy automatic weapons in the U.S., which is the weapon of choice for the cartels; Mexico is for the Mexicans, they must clean up their mess, or the country will fall into open warfare. Hell we have invaded them twice, 1846, and 1912, and it made no difference.
wester,
"Mexico will never get its act together because mexicans want the US to do everything for them."
I know one big favor the U.S. could do for Mexico: Stop buying and using so many illegal drugs. We're the ones who keep the drug cartels thriving. If we just did that, we could engage in free, legal trade with Mexico with no problem.
How do you get freedom, you fight for it. Mexico is the perfect example of government running the people instead of people running the government. You do not get freedom given to you you take it and then you keep it. We have criminals in the US but when they go to far we shut them down. The choice is in the hands of the Mexican people they can grow together or continue as they have been which is not working.
As far as the boneheads blaming guns from America, the guns are what keeps us free and those who do not believe that answer this question for me. How come guns are illegal in Mexico and they have problems we do not? Maybe arming the entire country would lead to war and maybe just maybe it would also give the average citizen in Mexico a fighting chance to have the nation they so desire. Either way it would be their choice and not ours. A free strong Mexico would be the greatest thing we could ever do for them and they could do for themselves.
you call your self "common sense" and then state;
So although you agree with Romney and his stand while you don't agree with obama or his policies yet you still voted for him? ...common sense? Not even remotely close. why not use a lemming for your avatar....it would fit.
congratulations you get my stupid post of the day award......
Mexico is a perfect example of..."If guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns"....
Doc Holiday: I agree, please remind all your liberal friends to be sure and go vote on November the 7th to support Barack Obama. Mark that date on your calendars liberals, be sure and go vote for Barack Obama on November the 7th. Don't forget!!
I usually never, ever agree with Pigotry, but this time he's right. It's our war on drugs that's the root of the problem. We imprison users at great cost to ourselves, destroy their lives so they can't contribute to society, give incentive to drug dealers by making their product illegal, and deprive ourselves of much-needed tax revenue.
We should launch a massive, years-long educational campaign against hard drugs in the same manner as we've attacked smoking to reduce the number of users, and also make pot legal so we can regulate it much the same way we do alcohol.
We would solve our own problem and Mexico's.
"All the drugs originate in South America and cross into Mexico"
from an uneducated boob who doesn't have a clue "where" drugs come from
and according to the leftist progressives here in America the U.S. isn't supposed to be getting into other nations business , so which is it all you American Chavez's?, you can't have it both ways
No, drug addicts destroy their own lives. Society doesn't have to do that for them. There's plenty of drug education out there but some people want to live on the edge and choose to ignore it anyway.
And I certainly don't want people out there who are dangerously out of control, high on drugs just doing what they feel like doing because the libtards say it's ok. You cannot use meth, heroin, PCP etc... "safely". That is pie-in-the-fukking sky.
If the majority of the American people wanted drugs legalized, they would have done it a long time ago. What we have here is a vocal minority in certain states who make a lot of noise about it in the press and on the internet.
The only way it's going to change is if you can get Congress to change Federal law and repeal or seriously amend past drug legislation.
Make pot "legal" and the problem will go away. Sorry, but the world isn't full of quick easy answers like you make it sound. And the cartels aren't going to suddenly become choirboys overnight because pot is legal. You are naive to believe that. Get real.
YA!...go vote for Barry O. on tuesday , throw your vote down the outhouse hole

What would Romney have to say about Mexico? Romney's father and grandfather were born in Mexico. Romney's son, Tagg, looks straight Mexican. Romney has to be silent about the problems there because he has strong ties to Mexico.
I am pasting a post from Sandy Radcliffe who, I think, did an excellent job of reporting. See Sandy’s writing below:-
“Tagg Romney's Company Misled Reporters About Its Relationship With Ponzi
Scheme–Linked Firm Lee Fang on October 12, 2012 - 8:10 PM ET
The private equity firm run by Tagg Romney—Mitt’s eldest son, misled reporters
last year about its involvement with a company run by men accused of taking
part in a multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme.
Last year, I reported that Tagg had formed a business partnership with several
North Carolina investors who are still facing a lawsuit for receiving bonus pay
for selling CDs as part of the $8 billion Stanford Financial Group Ponzi
scheme.
In a nutshell, Tagg helped these investors form a company—called Solamere
Advisors, a nod to Tagg’s firm Solamere Capital—shortly after their boss, Allen
Stanford, was caught by law enforcement for his elaborate Ponzi fraud.
When I interviewed him in Las Vegas, Tagg told me that his associates were
“cleared” of any wrongdoing associated with the Stanford Ponzi scheme. Court
documents directly contradict Tagg and show that the lawsuit has not been
dismissed.
The New York Times followed up on my story with its own report and confirmed
that Tagg’s business partners received incentive pay for selling bunk Stanford
CDs. They wrote about one Stanford victim, a local Charlotte businessman and
philanthropist named Herman Stone. Stone was pressured by Brandon Phillips, an
executive working now for Tagg’s firm, into putting $2 million into a
fraudulent Stanford CD and lost everything.
Solamere Capital attempted to distance itself from the story by claiming that
their business was not actually connected to the Ponzi-tainted firm, Solamere
Advisors. In a statement to ABC News, they claimed that their managers, not
Solamere Capital itself, were involved (emphasis added):
“It is inaccurate to suggest that Solamere Capital made an investment in this
firm [Solamere Advisors]. Solamere Capital was approached to invest in a new
wealth management firm being launched by these three individuals. After
extensive due diligence, Solamere Capital decided not to invest because the
business was at an early stage and did not meet our investment criteria.
However, Spencer Zwick, Tagg Romney and Eric Scheuermann each own a minority
stake in the business as individual investors.”
However, Solamere Capital’s statement, provided to ABC News, is false.
Disclosures from the Securities and Exchange Commission show that Tagg’s
company indeed maintains ties with the Ponzi-linked firm, Solamere Advisors.
The claim that Solamere Group didn’t invest directly in Solamere Advisors, the
firm employing former Stanford employees, appears to have been an attempt to
shield Mitt Romney. Mitt invested about $10 million into Tagg’s Solamere
Capital venture, which would suggest Mitt has a direct financial relationship
with folks involved in a Ponzi scheme. That’s because Solamere Capital pools
together investment money to co-invest in other companies
Is there anything this Dirt Bag won't do? So the Caymen Island Accounts are not
just his, he is also helping his kid to rip off people.”
HERE IS ANOTHER PART OF THE GREAT POST FROM SANDY RADCLIFFE:
Remember the quote from Newt Gingrich about Romney? “How can you debate
someone who lies about everything?”...more
.
Under Gov. Romney, Massachusetts fell to 47th out of 50 in job creation:
Before Romney’s time as governor, Massachusetts ranked 36th out of 50 in job
creation, but over the course of his tenure the state ranked a dismal 47th out
of 50—even as the national economy was growing. The Bay State only beat Michigan,
Ohio, and Louisiana—which was still recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Gov. Romney created or raised over 1,000 taxes and fees:
Though he promised he wouldn’t raise taxes as governor, he increased taxes and
fees by as much as $750 million per year, leaving the average taxpayer to pay
an extra $1,227 in state and local fees and taxes. During his first year in office, Romney
raised fees on milk, driver’s licenses, hospitals, nursing and barber licenses, and even on the blind.
Gov. Romney left behind a huge budget deficit:
Romney broke his pledge to balance the budget and left his successor, Gov.
Deval Patrick, with a $1 billion budget deficit. Long-term debt increased by
16% over Romney’s four-year term, and he left Massachusetts with the highest
debt per person in the nation.
I would NEVER vote for Rob-Me; after one term as Massachusetts Governor, the People of the State of Massachusetts decided the same thing, INCLUDING REPUBLICANS!!!!
zildjan: And what's your solution then? Oh, that's right, you don't have one. Let's continue throwing money away on a useless drug suppression effort that not only doesn't work, it cost a fortune to prosecute and results in thousands of dead on both sides of the border.
Sure is easy to be a naysayer. Far harder to actually contribute something helpful.

homesick yank ...(#1).."The United States, in turn, is a major source of weapons for the cartels."
That's the same crap that P.0bama, Hillary, Holder and el presidente de Mehico ran around saying in 2009.....then it was proved BS.....And so was born Fast & Furious....to flood Mehico with weapons with serial numbers traceable back to the U.S.....That's why they didn't track them or make any arrests....told U.S Gun Dealers to go ahead and make the sales to obvious straw buyers in large quantities....They never figured on Brian Terry getting killed....They just wanted U.S. weapons found at Mehican massacre scenes...to push for Gun Control here....
Anyway, who cares about the bloodshed in Mehico, Completing the Border Fence should have been a Campaign issue.....What P.0bama shoulda been concerned with the last 4 years is the bloodshed in Chicago.....20-30 a weekend.....Barry-0 has been silent on his homeboys killin' each other....
Mexico is ignored just like many other topic the liberal media don't want to make a big deal until after the election. If the Media did their Job President Obama would be a one term president. To bad President Obama is the chosen one. If he was to run for President of the entire world he would win because his destiny is a one world order. One man ruling the world.
There is no solution, pal. It's like the War on Crime. Or the War on Disease and mother nature. You'll never win that, either.
It's not about "winning" or "losing". It's about doing what you have to do. I suggest you accept that.
Well there are some things you got to pay for anyway. You don't have to like it and neither do I. In a perfect world, people wouldn't use drugs or commit crimes and everybody would live happily ever after.
No, I accept that this is what society has to pay for. I don't really want to pay for prisons either, but we have to. That's just the way modern society is. Either get used to it, or clear out to a desert island somewhere if you can't handle it.
zildjan: That's too fatalistic for me. With that kind of thinking we'd still have a 42% smoking rate, slavery, women without the vote, and a variety of other undesirable things because "that's just the way it is and you can't change it."
We can't always make ourselves better, but especially not if we give up without even trying.
Cut the cord already! America is not responsible for wiping the collective ass of Mexico.
ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ROMNEY OWNS/HAS INTEREST IN VOTING MACHINES- SIGN THE PETITION
SIGN THE PETITION AT:http://www.credoaction.com OR google "Voting machines tied to the Romneys could decide the election in Ohio"
Voting machines tied to the Romneys could decide the election in Ohio
Could a voting machine company with deep financial ties to the Romney family help Republicans steal the presidential election in Ohio?
It could happen. If this year's presidential election comes down to the electoral votes in Ohio, the deciding votes could be cast on electronic voting machines manufactured by Hart Intercivic.
Tell the Department of Justice: Don't let Republicans steal the election in Ohio with Romney-owned voting machines.
A 2007 study conducted by Ohio's Secretary of State showed that Hart Intercivic's touch screen voting machines could be easily corrupted. The New York Times reported:
Hart Intercivic is majority owned by H.I.G. Capital which controls two of the five seats on the Hart Intercivic board. An investment fund with deep ties to the Romney family and the Mitt Romney for president campaign, H.I.G. Capital was founded by Tony Tamer, a major bundler for the Romney campaign, and it is one of the largest partners of Solamere Capital, an investment fund founded by Tagg Romney and Spencer Zwick, Mitt Romney's chief fundraiser from the 2008 presidential campaign.2 This makes the Romney family part owner of the voting machine company, through it's interest in H.I.G. Capital.
Tell the Department of Justice: Don't let Republicans steal the election in Ohio with Romney-owned voting machines.
What's more, three other H.I.G. Capital directors are major fundraisers for the Romney campaign, and H.I.G. Capital is the 11th largest contributor to the Mitt Romney campaign.3 Two of the company's directors, Douglas Berman and Brian Schwartz, were even in attendance at the Boca Raton fundraiser4 where Romney infamously declared:
And as if the ties between Tagg Romney's Solamere, Romney contributors at H.I.G. Capital, and Hart Intercivic weren't astonishing enough, two members of Hart Intercivic's 5-member board of directors made direct contributions to the Romney campaign. That's right. Directors of the company that makes touchscreen voting machines that could decide the presidential election in Ohio, have made contributions to the Mitt Romney for President campaign.
It is disturbing and dangerous that Hart Intercivic, the company that makes the machines that will count many of the votes in Ohio on election night has deep financial ties to family members of Mitt Romney. And that its leadership has been actively involved presidential campaign by donating and bundling hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Mitt Romney. The fact that these machines are easily corruptible touch screen voting machines makes matters even worse.
Gov. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama are locked in a tight election race which could very well be decided by Ohio's 18 electoral votes. We must take action now.
Thank you for all you do to protect the integrity of our Democracy.
GERMANY was once the major source of weapons to Mexico.
Why do you think the Mexican Army had Mauser rifles before WW2?
What a crock of baloney. You are why people blame the poor for all the ills of society.
That is as much of a bigoted misnomer as saying all illegals are worthless, sponging human beings.
Most of the people on subsidies are required to also work - i.e. "welfare". People on social security are more likely to be disabled or elderly than be hard core drug users. The number of disabled on social security is not as high as people imagine. It's hard to win social security disability. If you research the topic you will learn that.
There are plenty of other people in life who use drugs besides the working poor and the disabled. And probably not too many old people. Stop stereotyping those in need. Drugs are used by people in all walks of life.
No doubt there are people who are addicted and on subsidies. But certainly not all of them. Most people are honestly trying to better their lives. It's the one's who take advantage of the system that get the attention. You never hear about the ones who don't.
Why is it that people that mention Eric Holder and Fast and Furious never mention Operation Wide Receiver and the Bush DOJ???? Could it be Romnesia?
We don't need any more "policies" with Mexico, the ones we have (or lack thereof) are MORE than generous enough for them and their people! Even more so than the ones we have for our own!
NO ONE is running for the PRESIDENT of MEXICO! THESE candidates are trying to become the PRESIDENT of the USA.
Patriotic American - You should be ashamed of yourself as you are not what your name implies. You are a left wingnut Liberal pathological liar who is spreading more lies. Why say things about a man who is dead and of which you have no facts. Pull your pointy head out of where the sun don't shine and act like a man.
A vote for Obama is a kiss of death for America!
I agree with Beakeeper that the statement that people who get some assistance from the government are the biggest users of drugs coming from Mexico is nonsense. Anyone who gets assistance from the government due to their disability or poverty is in no position to be buying a lot of drugs. Just more propaganda that the poor and disadvantaged are responsible for most of our country's problems.
And to blame Mexico's violence on America's thirst for drugs is quite a stretch. Plenty of other countries funnel drugs into the U.S., but their governments are not nearly as corrupt and useless in keeping their citizenry from killing each other to the degree that they are in Mexico. And blaming "fast and furious" for Mexico's violence, and suggesting it was primarily responsible for flooding Mexico with guns, is also complete nonsense. The drug cartels can get all the guns and assault weapons they want from the many gun shops and gun shows in Texas and Arizona, outfits and venues that are more than happy to sell the cartels carloads of weapons "under the table" in the name of the 2nd amendment...and lots of cash. They don't need no stinkin' government to provide them with weapons, there are plenty of righty redneck gun dealers who don't give a sh*t how many Mexicans are slaughtered with their guns, they're glad to contribute to the violence in Mexico as long as the price is right.
Regarding illegal immigration from Mexico, Obama has exported more illegals back to Mexico than any President before him, and llining the border with a fence thousands of miles long would be a wasteful exercise in futility. I suggest coming down on the employers who are illegally hiring undocumented workers by the millions. It's become far easier to prove worker's papers are bogus, but employers would much rather enslave illegals than hire American workers and pay them a livable wage, so they don't try too hard to verify the worker's papers, if they try at all. If we made it clear to employers that hiring workers with phony papers could actually result in their arrest and conviction (what a concept), then they might even stop hiring undocumented workers, thereby reducing the incentive to illegally enter the U.S., which is why we have laws penalizing employers who blatantly hire undocumented workers, right? Then why are we just busting the workers and not the employers?
Fatalistic or not, there will always be a minority of people out there who will go to the edge because that's their nature to do so. And throwing a bunch of red herrings in there isn't going to change it.
Some people are irredeemable. You try to be reasonable all you want to but they're not going to change just because you will it. As I said before, it's not all about winners or losers. It's about doing what you have to do.
Hi Joan, Your boy Romney and his sons want Texas Back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A Vote for Romney is a kiss of death for America !!!
zildjan: I may be comparing apples to oranges in some cases, but not with regards to smoking. Everything you're saying could easily be directly translated to the fight against tobacco. Almost half of America smoked in the 50s; now it's only 1 in 5. We didn't make it illegal or prosecute smokers; we launched an aggressive anti-smoking campaign that largely worked.
Of course there will be those losers who can't be helped, but reducing drug use by a similar degree has got to be cheaper and with longer-lasting positive effects than locking up all the pot users and putting up with turf wars in the streets.
AG99 you're not gonna change my mind on this. Just so ya know.

zildian:
There is a solution but the present candidate, prohibition, isn't working. There ARE alternative approaches. We fight crime and disease and mother nature everyday. But, our drug policies and drug prohibition are exacerbating the issue of crime. To fight the problems with drug use and addiction we need to explore alternatives other than prohibition. IMO we need to invest more in education and rehabilitation instead of incarceration. Your stance is to throw your hands because you can't do anything about it. I would rather think of better ways of dealing with this issue that doesn't end in massacres.
It is most definitely about winning or losing. Especially if you are losing. When you lose, you either learn from it, or you are doomed to repeat it. This is exactly what we are doing with drug prohibition. Losing it.
Would you keep paying for a car that kept breaking down, over and over? Or would you buy a new one? We need to "buy" a new approach to the drug problem. I don't like it and I won't just stand idly by and not speak my voice in opposition to these failed drug policies.
Why wouldn't a perfect world include drug use? In reality drug use is a criminal act. But, that is where the problem lies. Problems with drug use and drug addiction should be dealt with as a medical issue and NOT as a criminal issue. Criminalizing drugs only produces MORE crime. The simple act alone of using a drug shouldn't be criminalized.
No. I won't clear out. I'll stand my ground and advocate for a change. Prisons are not the answer and neither is paying through the nose for a failed drug war that has ruined lives and killed thousands of people. A modern society shouldn't exist this way and BTW, neither a FREE one either. If you support the perpetuation of failed polices then you... well, you know what they say about repeating the same action over and over and expecting different results, right?
OneDirtyRat
If you're so concerned about it then go to Congress and lobby for change. You have a right to do that.
Until then, the Drug War continues to be fought whether you like it or not. Failed or not. Wasteful or not. Winners or losers or not.
I know I'm not willing to surrender to the drug cartels and they're not gonna just disappear because "pot is legal" and a bunch of hippies are happy.
Good luck, pal... Knock yerself out.
Rather than trying to blame this on Democrats, Republicans, the US or Mexico, why not place blame on the prohibition of the drugs? Just legalize the damn things. Problem solved. No more violence.
Mirage, your Democracy has no integrity!

Gee, that is 'so awesome', dude. Just snap your fingers and it will all go away.

At the end, this election is not about issues, agenda, philosophy, policy etc.
It is about "Those who HATE Obama versus Those who LIKE him and to a lesser extent, Those who are willing to TOLERATE his efforts.
The media, everywhere, and certainly posters in this forum, are mis-identifying the drug industry in Mexico. There are no drug "cartels" in Mexico. A cartel is an organization of manufacturers who conspire together to fix prices. The drug warlords DO NOT conspire together, they in fact CAN'T STAND each other. That's why they are trying to kill each other off so only one will remain standing.
@ Common Sense-2004266, post 1.9
Romney is the next thing closest to an Anchor Baby. His father was born in Mexico (check Romney's Birth Certificate) and the reason why is because Romney's Grandfather left the United States after immigrating here from England, he left America with the Federal Government on his heals. It seems he was being investigated for Polygamy. What we need to do as a nation in order to protect this country and our citizenship status is tell these people that leave the United States and don't pay any tax or leave because they are wanted by the law that their citizenship is revoked. That should also extend to their spouses and children if they too move across the border. Romney's Father moved back to the United States and claimed his citizenship even though he was born in Mexico of a man wanted by the law. Romney's father was never an American in my book and should never have been able to run for any office. He was here illegally. Yes Romney was born here but as you state no more Anchor Babies that makes Romney an Anchor Baby in my mind and the first to run for President! One other thing Romney claims he is willing to make you a citizen if you serve in the Military! He neither himself nor any of his kids have served in the Military so asking anyone to do so is hypocritical of him if you ask me! I would like to see the day when it is a requirement to run for any government office that you serve in our Military at least 4 years! If not all at least the President! Collage alone does not prepare you for President. Statistics have come out that we have grown by 2 million people in the last 4 years, how many are Anchor Babies? How many are born of women who come here just to have babies then take them back to their home country just so that child is an American? How many Americans have never lived in America or ever stepped on American soil? How many American's have babies that have themselves never stepped on American soil and how many people have Grandparents (at least one) that is America which by right makes all their kids and their kids and their kids… Americans? Generations of people never living in America able to vote in our elections! Will it ever end?
AND, you think the U.S. is any different? Look at what we've had to choose from for leadership. If you haven't voted and don't like what we have to choose from (DEM or REP) there are plenty of other candidates to choose from, Black, Latino, Socialist, Green, what ever your choosing. We have to take our country back. If you are Black and only voting for Obama because he is black, there are 3 other choices. There are Hispanic and Women, also. There are like 15 other candidates, we just never hear about them, because they are not bought and paid for. (Tongue in cheek) YET!

If we are soooo bad for mexico, they should want a nice tall fence with guns between us and them eh?
Mexico is a hopeless state - they have no pride or patriotism or else they would improve their country - you need to give respect to get respect and it is nowhere near that point...
Poor Mexico. We have turned our back her. Illegal immigration is one issue, but a failing state is another. I suppose if the truth were known, the drug gangs are as pervasive in the US as they are in Mexico, but here, at least we have kept them out of government.
I don't give a rat's ass about the Middle East, but I do care about Mexico and Canada. They are family. We should take care of our own first.
...........ummmm, no we haven't. They're RUNNING our government. Get a clue. Or have another slice of mooncheese. Take your pick.
Any proof of that besides flying saucer paranoia? Or is this just moldy cheese on brie?
Our cartels are firmly embedded within our government and spend a lot of money paying lobbyists and bribing politicians to keep it that way, we just call them by a different name. Here they are known as big pharmaceutical companies and just in case anybody missed it, this year the single largest killer in America became prescription pills. We need to shut our doors and clean our own house before we start trying to do our neighbors cleaning for them.
Vlad sounds like he inhaled too much.
And I have a tin foil hat I can sell you. I can paint it any color you like.
lol...
To see an example of how pervasive Mexican drug cartels are in the US, go the KOB news on the internet. It has an investigative report by a guy named Larry Barker that details the illegal horse racing business in New Mexico. It's pretty disgusting.
if mexico is our family then I wish we would KILL our family. They have done nothing more than export their poor and criminals onto us along with tons of drugs. They deserve what they are getting and I'm all for sending more guns down there.
Bill H-1430012:
POOR MEXICO??????? Take a look at UN stats for Mexico. There are at least 125 countries in the world that are POORER THAN MEXICO.
Mexicans are professional beggars/martyrs thanks to being on the border with the US and all the phony documentation made up by the Catholic Church.
I once read that there were over 122 million Catholics in Mexico. Considering that the population of Mexico was only 105 million people at the time, I considered that a true miracle of modern LA RAZA propaganda.
I could care less about Mexico. They cause us enough problems as is. I'm glad that the candidates are focusing on AMERICA for a change and not some other country. Yes, Mexico is like family...that deadbeat relative that constantly wants to borrow money, gets thrown in jail, and embarrasses everyone at weddings and holidays.
zildjan, so everyone who speaks out against government corruption need tinfoil? Sound like your brainwashing worked.
Gee, you kinda have to have definitive proof, first. Not a bunch of fairy tales
Sounds like you need a tin foil hat. What color would you like? :)
Mirage,Get your facts straight.Mitt Romney was born to american parents in Mexico in a Mormon colony.Neither of his parents are of Mexican decent. But that has nothing to do with the news article.I don't see why this is even news. The presidential debate didn't talk about a lot of our allies.
In reality it's only Obama that is ignoring it because he is the president.
Romney is not the president yet.
Besides
Mexico is not completely ignored.
The doors to the US are completely open to illegal immigrants so those who want to flee that country are welcome to do so. LOL
Alright! "The United States, in turn, is a major source of weapons for the cartels." The American economic recovery continues! See, and you thought we were going socialist. Naughty, Naughty.
The firearm industry, it's political arm, the NRA, and their representatives (conservatives) in Washington are quite satisfied with the situation in Mexico. More drugs, more users in the U.S., more killings, more guns sold, more wealthy politicians! And the beat goes on.
In the booming arms market Mexico comes in a far second to the American people feel need to arm themselves. Much of this need is felt fear. The source of this fear is criminal activity AND the possible erosion of the second amendment.
Hobbes, apparently it's OK for the Eric Holder gang to send weapons to Mexico and then "lose" them? And then some are used to kill boder agents? I'm sure it's Joe the plumbers fault though.
Interesting, Ace, that you don't know that the operation was set up under Bubba Bush. However, unlike you righties, we on the left DO hold Obama, et al to account for mishandling anything, and especially for not fighting for single payer and drug negotiations with pharmaceutical corporations.
We do, however, fault the conservatives for their obstructionism and causing the political reality that forced Obama, et al to settle for much less. Obama did toss the workers of America some good bones, but he bowed to the oligarch Republicans in giving Wall Street the meat market.
Hell, if W. was still in office he'd have invaded Mexico by now. Of course only if his GOP friends had an opportunity to add to their millions in doing so.
Good one Very Angry Person ... :)
Why are liberals always so angry?
That can also be said about conservatives, Rockyroad. People have a lot at stake in who is elected. It's just that our issues are different and vary greatly from each other.
$19-39 billion a year in drugs smuggled into the US. The estimate is that sixty percent of that money comes from marijuana.
Legalize it, as three states are considering this year, that's between $11-24 billion out of the cartel pockets every year. It also lowers enforcement/court/prison costs in the US, and would allow drug enforcement agents to focus on truly dangerous drugs like meth and heroin.
Also, it creates economic activity. The tightly-regulated Colorado medical marijuana market is currently contributing $20 million a year in taxes to the state, and is made up of hundreds of small businesses who grown and sell their own stock.
www.leap.cc/
I agree completely. One can stop the war by not waging it. Weed prohibition is clearly not working.
This country has way too many laws trying to CONTROL every part of Americans lives!
Legalize FREEDOM!!
Legalizing marijuana would not fix the problem. First you would have to start marijuana farms, which are out there now, however, if you trespass, you step in a bear trap or get shot. If it was legal, then all you could be charged with is trespassing and if you stole some, petty larceny.
the problem that you have is that the meth heads. crack freaks, cocaine addicts, and whatever else is brought across the border, would still be coming across the border.
Now since the US is broke, to save massive amounts of money, Get the US drug culture of i can do what i want as long as i dont hurt anyone to realize that those drugs are eventually going to kill them. I am not talking about pot. Drug addiction where i live causes crime. We have thefts, we have murders, we have rehab costs, we have court costs, prison costs. And we have costs that are now just coming up for meth and crack babies. crack they have known about for years, meth they still are not sure exactly what it is going to do to the kids. ADHD, reattachment disorder, OCD, aspergers, just to name a few that have a higher rate. Then there is mental retardation, motor skills function, lack of empathy, compulsive behavior, damage to short term and long term memory. then you have physical and sexual abuse, that requires conselling and psychiatrists. And doctors trying differant drugs to get the kids into a normal state.
And then the parents are a general drag on society as they need help for the rest of their lives as they have a bad case of fried brain and cannot function well. A lot of them cannot functionally hold down a job flipping hamburgers and end up on SSI at 30.
I could agree, legalize pot get the druggies off addictive drugs, and that might solve the drug cartel problems. Heck, our Coast Guard could even go back to guarding the coast instead of looking for drug submarines.
Legalizing drugs just makes it easier for the drug cartels
to transport their chemicals of death across the border.
Look at Portugal, who legalized everything and treated addiction as a medical problem. Their addiction rate decreased. Their tax base increased and their crime rate went down. But instead of paying attention to logic, we want to spend money and lives on stupidity. There will always be criminal drug use. There will always be crime, but it's pure foolishness not to take advantage of facts.
spartan1117 - unfortunately it would also create more potheads. And even though you guys might like yourselves, nobody else does. (not accusing you of being a pothead, but that statement is directed at them)
I am sure the crackheads could say the same: legalize my drug of choice and I'll buy it at Safeway instead of rob your house and sell your guns to my dealer, and I'll stop committing crimes to get it, AND it will completely blow the Columbian cocaine trade out the window! win/win. See how that works?
Sorry but I've lived in enough border towns....try a minefield instead of a fence you can cut with boltcutters. Or both. If they make it through the mine field they can stay....and be given a job our government has a need to be done, and work for ten years, and THEN maybe think about free or subsidized schooling.
Regarding our druggies: send them to Mexico, but with the same deal and the same minefield. Maybe the Mexican government can hand them a gun and say "here you go, you helped make this mess, now clean it up".
China has a very effective policy on drugs:
1. Traffickers & manufactures are put to death. A few years ago - China executed 10,000+IMMEDIATE DEATH SENTENCES, plus the thousands regularly executed during one year...
2. Users are sent to jail & attend mandatory drug rehabilitation. This rehabilitation has to be 'PAID FOR' prior to release from jail...
As in many Asian jails, if you do not have someone sending money & food to you, you will starve to death...
The latest data indicates China has few in jail compared to the USA. The USA only executed 45+people during 2007, compared to the thousands in China...
China is winning the war against drugs, while the USA & other western countries are losing...
BTY - Mexico LEGALIZED the possession (small quantities) of many formally illegal drugs and has very strict gun control laws. I'm assuming it is not working out very well for them... Ha! Ha!
Legalize drugs and you won't have these issues. The government can't wage a war on drugs and not expect suppliers and distributors to not fight back. If it's not guns it'll be improvised weapons. People at war tend to to be violent. The implement of war is irrelevant other than to point out that those fighting tend to use what's available to both sides. Still not convinced the cartels are being solely supplied by the US other than what Obama has given them. Talk is cheap. How about some hard facts.
LEGALIZE IT AND STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"LEGALIZE IT AND STOP THE MADNESS", yes that is what the world needs even more drug addicts. What a bunch of morons.
Don't just legalize drugs. Open up distribution centers in all major metropolitan areas and give them away free of charge. The folks who are in it for th thrill will stop, because the thrill is gone. The folks who are curious can do their experimentation with controlled doses. The self-destructive idiots can kill themselves off without having to steal my entertainment center in the process. And the War on Drugs is over. Win-win-win-win.
GM Bill
Spot on - just like repeal of Prohibition!
Madness?!
Bong-hits and bullets?! Providing mind altering substances to the country with the most gun owners in the world? That's Madness!
Actually, it's a great idea. I think every gangbanger who picks up a street piece should automatically be given a free mind altering substance as part of the sale. Hallucinations throw your aim off.
Mandatory death penalty for drug dealers and make the drug addicts play a game of Russian Roulette it might thin them out a little faster.
@ denver,
LMFAO!
The group that IGNORES the mess in Mexico the most is the NEWS MEDIA.
Yes, but it's the same media that wants us to back the Free Syria Terrorists, and to start a war with Iran, isn't it? Hypocrisy to the hilt. What a bunch of dolts.
Why bother when in the end they always put the blame on US citizens instead of dealing with the cartels which by definition should be label terrorists. How about if the US stop sending billions to support the ruling terrorist of Mexico. Oh by the way it is against the law for the average citizen to bear/own weapons to portect themselves in Mexico which helps reinforce the cartel rules. Plus let not forget the US terrorist roaming freely through our country, the good old gangs & unions.
If you end the prohibition of drugs, you end the money. If you end the money, you end the weapons. The drug war is a complete failure, and the impact to our society (AND Mexico's society) is FAR worse than the drugs EVER were.
No, the real fix is to stop using DRUGS you dumb ass.
Dan, bless you. I love the way druggies think....yeah, dipsh*t it sure worked with alcohol, there's no drunks and alcoholics at all now! woo hoo, we fixed that there mess.
Thommy Berlin, you seriously think the impact to our society would be LESS to legalize all the crap that's out there? How old are you, twelve? And furthermore, who gives a rats azz about Mexico's society??? We have our own problems and Mexico happens to be one of them!!!
F..k Mexico.Everything is always America's fault.1.If the Mexicans were allowed to arm there selfs the murder rate would plummet.Thats why our murder rates would never reach those levels. Also we have Peace Officers that take an Oath. And keep America in check .2.Most Americans living Abroad in Mexico. Most of them are Mexican Nationals with dual citizenship still recieving benefit checks from America. And the billionaires this article refers to are also Mexican.3.Ever hear of Fast and Furious look it up,It was'nt the NRA sending weapons south it was our very own Obama administration.
This article is nothing but propaganda for the Illegal Aliens(I use this term because illegal immigrant is a non-word,an immigrant is a person legally in our country)The very Country the gives them EVERYTHING at American Taxpayer expense.
The Reason why there are so many problems in Mexico its thier Culture! They are all corrupt,dishonest.scandalous.Its not Americas fault. In fact I want to blame mexico for sending all their drugs north,And hold them accountable for sending us the millions and millions of uneducated poor people,Yea thats right start sending mexico the bill for these invaders
Man I hate articles like this!Who are they for? What are they for? Other than discrace America. And to try to make me feel sorry for the poor illegals.Too bad I does'nt work with me.The whole issue makes me sick!!
that's because we don't need to reform OUR laws to suit Mexico in the first damn place, we need to RIGIDLY enforce those laws already on the books.
Also it is not the Mexican govt's place to pick who they wish to see as president .
remember who stood and applauded when you go to vote on Tuesday.....time to clean house and we sure as hell don't need a Mexican housekeeper to do it.
gm Tramp,
Well said. Here's some of your cookies back.
GM Scooter
The Mexican Prez has to be getting something out of this "arrangement" or otherwise, he'd be po'd and put an immediate stop to it!
Hussein didn't "ignore" Mexico. He stated half way through his fiasco of a term that "it was NOT a Priority." Just like Benghazi was "NOT optimal." And just like, He is NOT presidential.
New Dream Act Party says VOTE OBAMA/VOTE OFTEN!
pretty much sums it up....where does barry stand....oh yeah...with THEM .....again.............
Having worked and traveled in Mexico on business, I can say without reservation it is a shiite hole. It is corrupt from top to bottom, and the number of their citizens that risk all to come here should tell anyone anything they want to know about the country. The whole culture is sick and bankrupt. They have to come here to celebrate it. We should burn the place down and start over. Hispanic culture is all about macho bullshiite, violence and drugs. I worked with individuals with companies who were honest about where they got the money to start their companies....drug interests. The cartels were part owners. The little tire and garages in Houston and other places run by hispanics are fronts for laundering money.
That sounds like the United States. Did you ever about the CIA - Mafia connection in the JFK assasination?
I've had many conversations with Mexicans over the years and one thing that has always suprised me is how easily and nonchalantly they speak about the crimes they commit. Whether it's being here illegally or filling out forms dishonestly or lying about their true identity or immigration status or stealing from their employer, you name it. They have no shame.
Now Rational Skeptic, I have to take exception to that. I don't care what happens in Mexico and I can't stand our cossetting of illegal aliens. Nor can I tolerate all the jobs that are being shipped there so that Americans can stand in lines to collect free cheese. It disgusts me. But what people on this vine have not yet mentioned, and as you ignorantly state, not all Mexicans who live here are illegal. Not all Mexicans who live here are drug lords. Not all Mexicans who live here are unemployed. I have a brother in law who moved here LEGALLY, worked hard, signed up for the draft even before he did for citizenship. He pays high taxes, supports his beautiful family, is gaining a good education which he is paying for and working for, and has a work ethic which makes a lot of Americans look lazy in comparison.
I am willing to bet you have never had a conversation with anyone of any nationality who said the things you are claiming. I am willing to hazard a guess in fact, that you are a complete idiot. And I am an authority on that, because I have spoken to many idiots over the years and they all sound just like you.
We need to continue to subsidize Mexico's poor - on our own soil
We need a surplus low wage labor force to drive down wages
We need an over populated and out of control birth rate
This is what we'll get if we get an more involved with this very corrupt country
tell that to barry and hillary.... i suggest doing so Tuesday...or your scenario has a REAL chance of becoming reality....
OBAMA: Too many honkies in college. Let's flood the neighborhoods with tamale holes.
you liberals are the most f— — — ed group of a— — holes other then obameee ,your ruining this country and every other country you get your hands on.obameee is the problem with the U.S. and MEXICO BORDERS,just let all the illeagals in this country so i can get votes cause i may not get enough stupid whites this time to vote for me.mexico is very corrupt and so is obamee and that is why this s— — — is happening, its like when you go to visit mexico and every cop stops you and checks you out almost immediatllly your being interogated and it is going to cost you something for them to leave you alone butr then the stinking illeagals come over here and a good portion of them is running drugs and if our people try to stop them they cry for thier corrupt politician in the U.S.(obameee) and our people cant do thier job or thier charged instead of the illeagals, and the liberal media starts whining like little bitches cause you cant send them back no wonder obameee dont bring up what is going on in mexico cause that would loose votes, fast n furious just showed the smart americans that wont vote for the most corrupted man in the white house ever how corrupt and his cabnet is,hell libya shows how corrupt obameee is and that is why he and his bed partners the liberals dont bring that up as well
i agree,
Your ignorance is showing, big time! What a dolt.
you agree with him .....then call HIM ignorant and a dolt?............bawahahahahahahahaha
@mikeo Your spelling is showing your not quite up to par.
Um, he didn't misspell a single word, but your second "your" should be "you're". I guess you're not up to par, either.
Busted that spelling nazi's ass, didn't ya?
hopefully that was an inside joke between mary and mikeo, otherwise mary just made a complete azz out of herself for nothing. Yep, mary, I know, I'm not capitalizing proper nouns, and I refuse to, just for you.
We're not ignoring Mexico. We've got our spies and cops over there too. They're just not ready to surrender their national sovereignty yet. Otherwise we'd have occupation forces there too.
Mexico has a hard row to hoe. The gov. released many of its short time prisioners and advised them to go north or else! That is what they did, just after most joined the cartels. The Mexican Gov. seems to have chosen a solution of allowing the cartels to kill one another off until the band is small enough for the loyal non-corrupt military to eliminate the balance of the gangs. Not sure that is working. A Mule can be paid $10k a month and in an economy like ours, that is a real "good paying job" but in Mexico, it is a fortune. Eliminating drugs from the equation would destroy Mexico's economy and leave a few billion $ in the US to spend on more productive persuits. Legalizing drugs here would have the same effect as eliminating them except a few million more drug users woul go on Social Security Disability, thanks to the entitlement mentality permiating the country.
F*** Mexico. Deport all illegals now.
Mexico and its people have an inferiority complex.
Why don't they spend as much time complaining about their own government and failure of them to act to make their country a better place to live? Why don't they expect better of themselves? I don't see how it is up to the USA to clean everyone's house for them. What I have seen regarding those who leave Mexico and come to USA illegally is that they bring their culture of crime and dishonesty to the USA and promote that lifestyle there. It starts by stepping into the USA illegally in the first place instead of following the proper way to get there. If they have these complaints against the USA why do they come there to live illegally?
"If they have these complaints against the USA why do they come there to live illegally?"
Because over here, instead of living in a cardboard shack and eating beans and tortillas they can live in the lap of luxury off of the backs of the AMERICAN tax payers while they send all of the illegal under the table $$ they earn over here back to their family members in Meeheeco to either live high on the hog, or to pay a smuggler with, to get THEIR asses across the border illegally and continually perpetuate the whole damn thing. Very, very big difference.
In short, it's because they're too damn lazy to. They'd rather freeload off of us taxpayers in this country. The stupid will always flow in the path of least resistance.
"The stupid will always flow in the path of least resistance."
I find that comment kind of ironic in that I am begining to believe that we, the American tax payers, in our total complacency towards such matters, fit the description of that same comment quite nicely.
Touche. What do you ride, Midnight? I have an '08 Electra Glide standard (FLHT)
no midnight........ WE are not complacent on this....the damn govt is.
hot ticket ....81 lowrider myself bought new. got tired of kickin the pan.....
Niiiiiiiiice!!! *Thumbs up*
They don't complain or do anything about their government because your typical Mexican has no sense of loyalty to anything beyond his or her immediate family or blood relations. They don't even have loyalty to the people they marry. Heck, and sometimes they'll even betray or screw their own family members--especially the women members. So expecting enough loyalty and patriotic feeling toward their country so they will feel moved to change it is like asking for the moon.
Hotticket......I graduated from a 78 shovel a few yrs ago to an 02 Heritage Springer, I love it! Also had an 08 Street Glide for about a yr but sold it a couple yrs ago. These old bones needs a smoother ride nowadays for some reason, LOL.
Tramp....... You and I and a handful of others are not complacent on the issue, but sadly the majority is. I don't see the gov as complacent on the issue. They are the reason FOR it. They are the ones who put the policy into play to allow it. If the majority of the people would raise enough hell about it we might be able to somewhat reverse their course on it, but that's where the problem really lies, too much complacency and no where near enough voiced opposition from we the people.
I have worked with Mexicans for 29 years and I must say that Mexicans are only for themselves and maybe their family. They come here for the money and have no interest in becoming an American, if they have their way the will convert the USA to another Mexico state. They have no loyalty and don't care how the influx of illegals hurt this country. They are also the biggest racists I have ever know, the hate everyone including the few Mexican Americans that do love being US citizens.
The article answers its own question by what it doesn't mention. 1300 words and not one of them is 'Fast' or 'Furious' in the actual text. This administration had gotten Mexicans dead, supplied the drug cartels with all the guns they need, for political reasons. Oh, but look, there's a link to a video on the 14 scapegoats being thrown under the bus for Holder.
Just remember, under this administration, the law has a political element. None of that Polyanna Rule of Law nonsense.
No need to worry Mexico, we American tax payers will continue our unlimited wellfare funding to ALL of your needs no matter which side of the border your citizens reside on just like we always have been ordered to do in the past by whichever party holds power over us, and you can without a doubt, count on that. There there now, don't fret.
