Israeli commandos seized six ships carrying aid to the Gaza strip. The military rappelled from helicopters onto the lead boat, a Turkish cruise liner carrying hundreds of activists. Stephanie Gosk reports.
ANKARA, Turkey - Turkey put four former Israeli military commanders, including the head of the army, on trial in absentia on Tuesday for the 2010 killing of nine Turks on a Gaza-bound aid ship.
The trial will further test relations between the one-time strategic allies and has been dismissed by Israel as a "show trial" and "political theater".
Turkey puts former Israeli commanders on trial over deadly Gaza flotilla raid
According to The Associated Press, hundreds of people gathered outside the criminal court in Istanbul where the case was being heard.
Relations between the Jewish state and what was once its only Muslim ally, crumbled after Israeli marines stormed the Mavi Marmara aid ship in May 2010 to enforce a naval blockade of the Palestinian-run Gaza Strip and killed nine Turks in clashes with activists on board.
The rift has continued despite U.S. efforts to encourage a rapprochement between the two regional powers, whose cooperation it needs to address changes sweeping the Middle East.

Israel and NATO member Turkey, which both border Syria, once shared intelligence information and conducted joint military exercises, cooperation which has since been canceled.
A Turkish state prosecutor is seek multiple life sentences for the now retired Israeli officers over their involvement in the nine killings and the wounding of more than 50 others.

The indictment names Israel's former Chief of General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, former Navy Commander Eliezer Marom, former Air Force Commander Amos Yadlin and former head of Air Force intelligence Avishay Levi, seeking prison sentences of more than 18,000 years for each of them.
'Inciting murder'
Among the charges listed in the 144-page indictment are "inciting murder through cruelty or torture" and "inciting injury with firearms".
Palestinian leader's refugee comments shatter taboo, reignite debate in Israel
A total of 490 people aboard the ship during the raid, including activists and journalists, are expected to give evidence. Normally barred from courtrooms, the trial will be officially recorded by television cameras, although proceedings are not expected to be broadcast.
"The 'Blue Marmara Trial' due to commence on November 6th in Istanbul, clearly falls under the category of a Show Trial; an act which has nothing to do with either law or justice," Israel's foreign ministry said in a statement.
"This 'trial' does not qualify under any facet or foundation of a lawful judicial system, and is merely a propaganda display. It would be in Turkey's interest to deal with this issue through bilateral dialogue," it said.
A Turkish foreign ministry official declined comment, saying the incident was now a matter for the judiciary.
Germany's Deutsche Welle quoted Gulden Sonmez, a lawyer and board member of the charity whose members were killed during the raid, as saying the trial would be "historic".
"Those responsible for the crimes against humanity will be held responsible,” she stressed. “This is certainly not a symbolic trial. If found guilty, these Israeli commanders can be arrested anywhere in the world through an Interpol arrest order."
Ties between the two states began to unravel even before the Mavi Marmara raid after Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan stormed off a stage he was sharing with Shimon Peres at a World Economic Forum in 2009, saying the Israeli president knew "how to kill", a reference to the December 2008-January 2009 Gaza offensive.

This file picture taken on May 31, 2010 shows a speed boat escorting the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara near the southern Israeli port of Ashdod.
But relations hit a new low when Turkey expelled Israel's ambassador and froze military cooperation after a U.N. report into the Mavi Marmara incident released in September last year largely exonerated the Jewish state.
Israel admits killing deputy of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat
That report was meant to encourage a rapprochement between the two countries but ultimately deepened the rift when it concluded Israel had used unreasonable force but that the blockade on Gaza was legal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in July Israel and Turkey needed to repair their relationship, but attempts to rekindle the strategic relationship have failed.
Turkey has demanded a formal apology, compensation for victims and the families of the dead and for the Gaza blockade to be lifted.
Israel has voiced "regret", short of the full apology demanded, and has offered to pay into what it called a "humanitarian fund" through which casualties and relatives could be compensated.
IHH, the Turkish Islamic humanitarian agency which owns the Mavi Marmara, has said it expects the Turkish court to issue arrest warrants for the retired officers who would be obliged to be extradited to Turkey, a claim dismissed by Israel.

The conservative Israeli govt doesent feel that diplomatic relations with its neighbors is critical with the US govts policy being controlled by them. Its unfortunate that with a uncritical US govt that Israel feels it can do anything without consequence. Even the report which was mildly critical of how the Turkish ship was intercepted was met with outrage by Israel.
Israelis are racist ethnocentric people. I've met many Israelis and their religion alone teaches that they are better than the "Gentiles" Their laws don't allow marriage with non jews. They act superior and rude because of these beliefs. They take advantage of us americans. They think we are below them but they use us to do their will. They think non-jewish life is worthless and will not hold back in killing non jews. Israel has become almost as evil as Hitlers Germany, its very ironic but true.
Brian, your description of Israelis sounds ominously like a description of Muslims.
brian, its nice to know that your basis of all israelis is due to the fact that you've
"met many israelis". i've lived in israel as a non jew for 5 years and i can tell you what you are describing are muslims, not israelis. israelis just try to defend themselves from the constant anti-semitism they are surrounded by. with that being said, i'd love to send an israeli flotilla to turkey just to see if they'd let them bring their "aid" (aka PR stunt) through the turkish boarders to see how peacefully turkey reacts to that idea. im sure being that turkey is so gentile, theyd let them right through, no questions asked (sarcasm). while we're at it, lets send a flotilla from iran to NY. i guarantee you'd be all for blowing them up without even thinking twice whilst yelling "GO AMERICA!"
"IHH, the Turkish Islamic humanitarian agency which owns the Mavi Marmara, has said it expects the Turkish court to issue arrest warrants for the retired officers who would be obliged to be extradited to Turkey"
Trial in a Muslim nation! They must be joking like their Islamist Erdogan and his party!
Israel should put on trial Erdogan and his party's top leaders!
They have done genocides of Kurds!
May God bless Israel and deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
palestinians have stated in no uncertain terms they want to kill and exterminate the Israelis, and have attempted to do so for decades. Why would the Israeli government assist them?
What would Americans do if Mexico sent in suicide bombers and launched rockets into Texas claiming that it was their land (which it was)? Why is it okay for every other country to defend themselves, EXCEPT Israel?
"The humanity" excuse is weak....try another avenue to display your hate of the Jews.
18,000 years is actually better than what Turkey did when it murdered 1,500,000 people during the Armenian Genocide. Two out of every three Armenians that lived in Turkey were murdered.
The on going murder of the Kurds should also be remembered.
Israel practices state sponsored terrorism all the time. Lots of war criminals at the highest levels of their government since inception. Despicable people like Begin and Sharon.
Just more Islamic bull$hit. The Israelis were provoked, they should have sunk the damn ship.
I can only hope that Israel totally ignores this alleged trial. No action should be taken by Israel against anyone who participated in that fatefull cruise into murky waters. The voyage was purposely inciting, and they knew what they might be getting themselves into. Sadly, some people died. Well, that's just tough! Many people have died in the Middle East, most of them by the hands, and deeds, of non-Israelis! Did most of them get tried by anyone, other than Israel (on occasion)?
Brian,
Your comments appear to accurately describe the typical follower of islam
18,000 years. So if it is like the system in the U.S. that means they will be out in about 1 1/2 years with good behavior. 2 years if not.
BrianB: don't allow Jews to marry non-Jews? Wow, tell that to about a gazillion Hadassah Wong Greenbergs getting their bat mitzvahs!
Seriously, you're totally ignorant.
Rachel, BrianB is right and the ignorance is on your side. In the US jews can marry non-jews, but not in Israel. There they have to leave the country if they want to get married, many marry in Cyprus. But this marriage is officially not recognized in Israel which causes lots of problems later on.
1wizard, you forgot to mention that it's under house arrest! They get ankle bracelets too.
These Isalmic terrorists were armed to the teeth and meant right from the beginning to kill the Israeli soldiers. They died in combat. The other boat people didn´t resist when they were escorted for trying to break a legal blockade to stop arms getting to the terrorist strip of Gaza.I´m niether Israeli or a "zionist" but the Turks under this Isalmic government are super bad news and they support Islamic terrorism in the name of helping Hamas!!
Note to Turkey: You got the easy part done ...... indictment. Good luck with the extradition.
Israel's Netanyahu and Turkey's Erdogan are made for each other!
Both are good in dancing!
Islamist Erdogan and his party have taken Turkey fast to seventh century!
What business Turkey has in Syria?
Turkey wants its dirty jobs done by us!
Let Erdogan's do his seventh century dances with Sunni Saudis, Qataris, Kuwaitis, UAE's financiers' of Sunni Islamic haters and killers.
If extradtion is not possible, may be those war criminals should be brought to Turkey by force to face the justice of law, a tactic that mossad is very good at.
I believe the traditional expression for the situation is: You want them? Come and get them.
Von Dorf, moshe abdallah, and other wannabes will have to face it that the time you could clubber a few Jews upside the head whenever you feel like it are long gone.
Someone should inform the Turks that Israel has a blockade on Gaza...that means NO aid ships among other things.
This was not an action of the Turkish government. These were well-intentioned humanitarians who were concerned about the plight of the people who were being severely punished by the blockage. Israel, as it often does, over-reacted. It should be big enough, and smart enough, to apologize, but Netanyahu is all bravado, with little common sense -- much like George Bush. He should have just gotten over his macho BS, apologized, compensated the families of the victims, and retained one of his most important allies. Instead, because he's in love with his tough image, he has not only lost an important ally, he is fueling a huge Muslim backlash. What an idiot.
"Well-intentioned humanitarians?" What, with rockets and mines and other ordnance in the ship's hold? How is that humanitarian?
validviewpoint - since when do humanitarians carry hundreds of weapons on board AND beat soldiers while they are trying to board the ships? ALSO, since when do humanitarians ignore orders to reroute ships? sorry, but those were no humanitarians. you fell for a PR stunt bringing weapons to hamas.
And you know there were weapons aboard this ship because Bush II said they had WofMD!
No, Dick, we were SHOWN the actual weapons that were onboard the ship.
rockme -- you're offended that they "beat" soldiers who boarded the ship? The soldiers KILLED them! Why don't you get offended about that? You're the ones who fell for a PR stunt.
Michael
Who showed the weapons? Israelis? Put it together!
Bush II also showed proof to Congress and the American people that Iraq had WMD also and later claimed they didn't after years of searching.
validviewpoint - let me explain since you dont get it. they beat the soldiers as they repelled on board. the soldiers were not armed. when they started to beat the soldiers, throwing them overboard, in self defense they began to repel with weapons. many of the "humanitarians" continued to beat the now armed soldiers, tried to steal their weapons and shoot them with their own guns. in self defense, the israeli troops fired. i dont know about you, but i'm perfectly fine with people who are beating soldiers getting shot. and um... dick... you can very easily find the video of the soldiers getting beaten - with the weapons in plain sight - online. although, youre right, perhaps that was a hollywood video that the israelis created (sarcasm).
Michael, You are either a liar or a fool.
The Israeli military said that in addition to medical aid and construction materials, they found knives, clubs, slingshots, bulletproof vests, gas masks, and night vision goggles aboard the Mavi Marmara.
The crew members fought the illegal pirates from Israel who had machine guns with knives and iron bars, not exactly what we would normally call weapons of mass destruction.
The problem is that you lying zealots have not realized that the world can check your claims, it is called the internet, you should look it up. LOL
I think you may be right.
The Israeli military usually attacks without weapons. It has been their strategy for years after the water pistols were claimed to be too violent. But in this case after they were thrown overboard several times, soaking wet, they somehow produce weapons, which they didn't have, when they climbed back on ship and the sailors were killed trying to take them away from the wet Israelis. But before the sailors were killed they decided to attack an armed unit bare handed and someone among the Israelis, after hours of being beaten yelled kill them and throw them overboard. After pirating the ship they brought on cameramen for filming everything they wanted the world to see.
I'm with you, when is the movie coming out?
Dump Turkey once for all! Let Erdogan and his party top leaders do their seventh century dances!
I support Kurds, Israel, Syria's Assad and all Sunni Saudi opponents!
um, no dick. they did not attack the ship immediately. they repelled down UNARMED and were thrown overboard. that is when MORE (dry and armed) soldiers repelled down since clearly the kind "humanitarians" were hostile. but you're right, most people who take "aid" to a terrorist organization are usually peace-loving, kind, pacifists.
I've enjoyed this stimulating posting intercourse but must be on with my day. However, when Israel produces the movie I will respond again because that is when we will both have all of the facts - from the film version.
Turkey should be put on trial for encouraging their citizens to participate in illegal activities that ultimately resulted in their deaths. If you have a chance to read the U.N report it clearly outlines in detail both sides. The flotilla consisted of six ships with a total of 700 passengers. I would consider that a substantial threat. The following is an excerpt of the U.N. report.
The flotilla was organized by a coalition of a number of organizations, of which the leading organization was the IHH - a “humanitarian organization with a radical-Islamic orientation” which provides support to radical-Islamic and anti-Western terrorist organizations, including Hamas.
The largest vessel in the flotilla, was the Mavi Marmara, carrying approximately 590 passengers and crew, primarily of Turkish nationality but including passengers from 34 countries. The majority on board were “peace activists” but a “hardcore group” of about 40 IHH activists boarded the Mavi Marmara separately without any security checks in the port of Istanbul. These passengers marked themselves out throughout the voyage as a separate group, and made preparations to resist any boarding of the vessel by the IDF. There were humanitarian supplies and construction materials on board three of the vessels in the flotilla (the Defne Y,150 Sofia151 and the Gazze I). No humanitarian supplies were found on the remaining vessels. Weapons and combat equipment were found on board the Mavi Marmara, including flares, rods, axes, knives, tear gas, gas masks, protective vests and night-vision goggles.
The take-over of the Mavi Marmara began at 4.26 a.m. with an attempt to board from two speedboats. This failed because of violent resistance on the part of some of the flotilla participants. At 4.29 a.m. soldiers descended onto the roof of the vessel from a helicopter. Three “flash bang” stun grenades were thrown from the helicopter before and during the descent, but no shots were fired. The soldiers from the first helicopter were met with an extreme level of violence from a group of passengers on the vessel. They were shot at and attacked with clubs, iron rods, slingshots and knives. Three soldiers were wounded and taken to the hold of the ship. The violence against the soldiers was carried out in an organized manner by a group of passengers armed with weapons, including firearms. Suggestions that the passengers were acting in legitimate self-defence were not supported by the evidence. In response to the violent resistance faced, the soldiers resorted to shooting with less lethal and lethal weapons. Nine soldiers were wounded in the course of the operation, including two who received bullet wounds.

YourTruth - I hope you know that according to most experts, Israel's blockade of Gaza is illegal under international law. UN Human Rights Council and International Committee of the Red Cross consider Gaza blockade to be illegal. It is simply an expression of Israel's military thuggery.
When the US blockaded Cuba, if any ship tried to breach the blockade they would have been sunk. Just saying, the flotilla was lucky. That being said, if they were truly peaceful intentions then they would have offerred no resistance to the soldiers and let the world decide for themselves. Since they decided to attack the soldiers, they got what happens when attacking soldiers.
Also, had they followed the Israeli authorities to their port for inspection the actual humanitarian goods would have been allowed to pass through. Turkey bears the responsibility of their actions. Breaching the blockade could have been handled in a much more severe manner than what the Israelis did.
rockmebrit. there were no weopon on board. people just got their hand and pulled the side rails to defend themself. you are a liar. isreali governement is nothing short of paranod skitzophrenic lunatic.
Hey Dick, if they put the movie out, you and your buddies would riot, and use the film to attack non believers. Have a good day
Israel is often its own worst enemy.
Jews have a right to have their homeland in Israel.
Moderate Jews should be very careful of mad nut cases like Netanyahus.
Netanyahus indirectly support Sunni Saudi and co Islamic haters and killers.
He did dances and dramas before Iraqi wars along with them.
Now he is doing them on Syria and Iran.
Let Shiites and Sunnis battle on whose Allah is greater!
Why should Netanyahus' start jumping and dancing in between?
If Saddam was there nothing would have happened to Jews.
Saddam would have been busy with some other ME rich Muslim ruler!
And the Turks don't think that seeking an 18,000 year sentence makes them look ridiculous?
We often hand out 600 year sentences -- and more. What's the difference? It's all symbolic. The number is not important in the slightest. The fact that Israel over-reacted, once again, and lost its best regional ally, IS significant.
Sounds good, in Saudi Arabia you could lose your head.
This shows the level of Islamic madness in 21st century!
Ahhh finally someone has the balls to speak the truth and not scared of israel lobbyists, oops that would be our lawmakers...
israel's arrogance, disregard for human lives is getting our of control....
What about Sunni Saudi, oil companies and their lobbyists?
How dare Jews disregard human lives by not letting Turks pound them upside the head with lead pipes whenever they feel like.
This is The Show Trial of the Century- the last one being the Show Trials in USSR under Stalin. A Nation is allowed under International Law to defend itself and Turkey's PM Erdogan explicitly and implicitly aided and abetted lawbreakers in the Mavi Marmara Flotilla. PM Erdogan in his quest to be the Neo Ottoman Sultan and encouraged by Obama himself - tried to break the Gaza Blockade. The Israeli Military -former Chief of Staff GenG.Ashkenai, former Naval Forces Comm. E.A.Maron,former Mil.Int. head Maj.Gen.A.Yadlinik and former Air Force Int.head Brig.Gen A.Levi are the spacegoats for PM Erdogan (perhaps it wasn't enough for him to arrest/detain w/o charges/jimprison his own Armed Forces ..over 800 in Sledgehammer and Erdenokan Cabal Plottings..imaginary to boot..). Totalitarianism knows no boundaries- one's own actions can be mirrorimaged to other nationals in quest to silence and enslave one's own nation. There are over 800 prisoners on hungerstrike- their crimes simply being Kurds in Turkey-why should US be informed of this one can only ask? PM Erdogan- not his fault if they die- it is the fault of others. (Kurds and his Opposition Party)Arms being shipped from Turkey in Cracker cases to Yemen- AQ to boot. Will investigate like Obama investigating Benghazi. Israelis are innocent- the Mavi Marmara people did not heed warnings and ambushed Israeli forces when they boarded the ship with heavy tireirons/metal sticks- in criminal law deadly instruments. This Show Trial is in Caglayan Court in Istanbul.P.S. PM Erdogan will have a State visit to Gaza/Hamas too. Turkey is financing Hamas/Gaza too.
curiousity ..... so some of you think that a ship from a foreign country has some odd....right... to just...unilaterally enter another country? Without a say so? Because that TURKISH flagged boat tried to enter an ISRAELI port. Let's get something straight...there never has been a country of Palestine, so they have no right to grant entry to anyone. That would be like a boatload of illegals trying to enter the US,,,and we told them no....yeah there would be a better way to handle it than how they did, but they had EVERY right to board the boat, either that or let it hit ground and arrest EVERYONE. Willing to bet they had no entry visas....
This whole thing was a kangaroo court, and should have NO enforceability on the international level.
Greek historian Herodotus in the mid-5th century BCE: Palaestina Prima,
You may not accept the name of the region but every REAL historian since Herodotus does. Just because the people of the region have been under one creepy occupier or another since antiquity does not mean they dont have the right to their own determination. Typical thieving zealot bull sh!t.
The people of the region do still live there. Or are you talking about the Arab and Turkish invaders?
So, are you saying the Israelis are really Neanderthals who lived there about 200,000 years ago? BTW, the semitic people who came there 5000 years ago or so descended into both Jews and Arabs. They lived there together for 5000 years sometimes with conflict sometimes not until the latest violent gang called Zionists came to steal all the land.
Get it?
You mean: until self-respecting people called Zionists refused to pay extortion money to the violent Arab gangs, and Arab gangs could not stomach that.
Since when did anyone expect Israel to give a toilet bowl Republican campaign contribution about being responsible to the world. Anybody else remember the repeated attack on the USS Liberty in 1967?
When the neighborhood equalizes the current US supported advantage of the Israelis, the zealots will be looking for hidy holes like Sadam. The thing that paranoid bullies do not recognize is that their vulgarity sets the stage for their own demise.
Yes we all remember USS Liberty, the accident that various idiots try to dress up an attack because they can not dig up anything else on Israel and have to grasp at straws.
Eli, why even respond to this stupidity. Yes, it happened, and friendly fire happens all the time in battle. When these types have nothing else, they resort to this. We know, he is just a wuss, who can't handle the fact that Israel is a power to be reckened with. If we mentioned the hundreds of attacks perperatrated against the US, they respond with this. We should just say Argo#@$%yourself
I don't care that Isreal over-reacted. They deserve to. Through out history and I mean way back history the Isreali's have been systematically killed or chased around from place to place. Their NOT ever going to let that happen again and I stand behind them 100%. Through out my life I have worked for many Jewish ladies, the ones that survived the Nazi's and the stories they told of being in the camps and watching loved ones die was overpowering. One lady in particular told of being in a small town and the Nazi's taking all the food and destroying it and than not allowing any food to reach that town. She had a baby and lived with her in-laws while her husband was out fighting the war. Every single one of them starved to death and because my friend could not produce any milk because she was malnourished her infant died. She was the only one out of her whole family and her husbands family to survive. I'd like to see how you would react if every country around you wanted you and your children wiped off the face of the earth and that, that behavior had been going on for centuries. We Americans have it so good and think we are so rightious. Maybe in your lifetime the Muslims will overtake us and start putting you and your children in camps. Believe me you would fight like animals and if you did survive and found some place that no one else wanted and over the years turned that place into a beautiful country, and that all of a sudden everyone says is their land. REALLY. You would never let it happen again and you would do everything in your power to stop any weapons or supplies from going into the countries that want to destroy you.
So, if a gang of thieves starts whining that they are being chased, you will say they deserve to have the house they just robbed? LOL
tex2c - that was the most idiotic thing I have heard in a long while. Walk a mile in a the shoes of an Israeli Jew and you would be eating those words and hiding in shame.
OK, I DID walk all over Israel in the 70's and saw the lies they were putting out to their ignorant supporters in New York. I lived on a kibbutz in northern Israel for six months and walked into Jerusalem and into the Sinai. YOU?
The shame is on the Israeli bullies who use the tragedies of history to get what they want...stolen LAND from their neighbors.
Israelis never stole any land, every inch of land that they control is rightfully theirs because they either paid for it in cash, or won it in a war that they did not start.
The tragedies with the past have nothing to do with that, and the only people to bring the tragedies of the past into that are dimwitted antisemites, who think they can draw attention from the present.
Interpol doesn't generally issue arrest warrants based on kangaroo court indictments. If they did, every American President would be arrested from indictments from Iran or some other country that hates us.
And a few of them should be...Bush/Cheney come to mind...
Did you know that Henry Kissinger is unable to travel abroad because he IS under indictment for war crimes? Bush hides in his compound in Texas and Cheney in his hole in Wyoming only occasionally venturing to specially vetted countries like the Cayman Islands for fear the civilized part of the world will get them. The cowards who executed the Iraq war, Tommy Franks and Rumsfeld, are under indictment as we speak in much of Europe. That is the quality of statesmanship the Republican gang has given to the world lately. Cowardly bullies, nothing more.
18000 years? Do they have a problem with early paroles or people that live a really long time?
Well, with good behavior they should be out in 10,000 years, at most!
Given the judicial system they will probably be out in 180 years.
tex2c you are an idiot and you don't even know it, how sad.
please be specific deedeedoodoodaadaa. Being an idiot is what people who support traitors like lying Republicans or greedy Israelis are, not someone who understands that their violence will only lead to their hateful, painful deaths.
Being an idiot is making statements like "greedy Israelis" and thinking that it shows anything other than your own bigotry.
You and yours have been wishing and promising "hateful, painful deaths" to Israelis for 64 years now.
So far, they keep outliving you, and they will keep outliving you, because while you are screaming they are working, studying and training, those are the ways to survive and to remain civilized human beings.
well, The whole thing was staged, on both sides,, and meanwhile, what about the actual aide??..wheelchairs building supplies etc are hardly weapons,,are they?.. this only serves to illustrate that both sides must be carefull of being infiltrated by opportunists with violent intentions who so often usurp a good act, for not so good reasons,,,when! this happened it was world news,, I as was asked for my opinion[Israeli guy came to my home even!],..I said then what I am saying now,, I saw;pictures of passengers wielding iron stanchions that could easily! kill and maim,, pictures of Israelis with weapons dropping from the sky, and more,,the whole thing could have been done at the dock,, but for "publicity" purposes it happened in international waters,,,.. meanwhile,, while all these "players" are playing their! games,, kids go without,, disabled dont get their wheelchairs, ..families live in rat infested hovels,,and worse,..now, Turkey stages another! publicity deal,, and yet,, the same kids, women families disabled etc,, are still!! going without,,, I say,,,get your! priorities straight,, both sides,,,and quit using the weak and vulnerable as political footballs,, it only serves to make you all! look, weak, small, self centered and dare we say, ignorent as well,,,Both! sides have their Hawks,, reign them in,, and try and take a global view once in awhile,, as Ghandi said so well,"an eye for an eye and soon the whole world is blind"...Retribution is Gods job,, and rightly so too,,
Turkey(s) says it all, another waste of government resources to make the fringe happy. Drone time.
tex2c oh how I,m praying Romney gets in there, just to have people like you have a panic attack.
LOL, good luck! PS, prayers ain't gonna get you there. Votes for rational thinking leaders like Obama will outdo your prayers any day.
BTW, the panic seems to be on the TeaRetardican side these days...I am not worried though, the US Military will take care of them soon.
You expect US military to slaughter republicans?
You might be disappointed to find out that USA is not Syria.
How does Turkey plan to impose sentence on any of these people?
18,000 years is actually better than what Turkey did when it murdered 1,500,000 people during the Armenian Genocide. Two out of every three Armenians that lived in Turkey were murdered.
The on going murder of the Kurds should also be remembered.
How ironic that Turkey is accusing another country of anything ! Both nations have ethnic cleansed the native people off their lands ! Turkey still kills Christians by arming the fsa who cross into Syria to behead Christians and burn Churches ! And Israel guards the world largest prison, CAZA. Israel continues to build illegal settlements on other peoples land ! Israel does not recognize the Armenian Genocide of 1915 by the Turks, which means that human life is just a game to them as well ! Shame on both countries !! Killing is the only path for them both ! Sad that human rights mean nothing to them both !
"And Israel guards the world largest prison, CAZA."
Your prison has shopping malls, water park, five-star hotels, open border with Egypt and receives aid from all over the world, including Israel.
This comparison gets more idiotic by the hour, but someone still proves stupid enough to make it.
I see a lot of jealousy about Israel - bottom line - a ship attempted to dock without permission - soldiers attempted to board - were set upon - beaten - and now the Turks are doing what is common in all Arab countries - crying foul when they caught! How about landing a ship at a Turkish port - maybe some missionaries, giving out some bibles - let's see how far that goes!
So sad that Israel is such an easy target - oh, how many were killed in Syria today? No protests - no burning Syrian flags - UN? Uh huh - I get the picture.
Some things are too sensitive to report in our "free" press in America. When Romney gets in Netanyahu can start a war for the US to fight. From BBC today:
The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has said he is ready to order a strike on Iran if international sanctions do not stop its nuclear programme.
"I am, of course, ready to press the button if necessary," he said.
Speaking on Israeli television, Mr Netanyahu also indicated Israel was prepared to act unilaterally.
His government has failed to get the US to set a clear "red line" for military action against Iran.
This has put a strain on relations with the administration of President Barack Obama.
Channel Two interviewed the prime minister as part of an investigative report detailing Israel's efforts to stop Iran from what it says is a drive to develop a nuclear weapon.
Iran insists its nuclear programme is purely for peaceful purposes.
“Start Quote
Benjamin Netanyahu
The Channel Two report said that in 2010, Mr Netanyahu and his defence minister, Ehud Barak, had given orders for the military to get ready to attack Iran within hours if required.
The programme described this as "the closest Israel has come to attacking Iran".
The orders were later withdrawn in the face of opposition from two top security officials at the time - chief-of-staff Lt Gen Gabi Ashkenazi and the head of the intelligence service, Mossad, Meir Dagan.
According to the programme Gen Ashkenazi considered such an attack on Iran, "a strategic mistake" because of the risk of a war, while Mr Dagan deemed it "illegal", saying a full cabinet decision was needed. Both men have since retired from their posts.
Let's sort this out. There was a blockade to keep weapons from reaching Gaza, they tried to violate the blockade and what happened? People got killed. When we had a blockade around Cuba to prevent the Russians from bringing more weapons to Cuba what do you think the USN would have done if some peaceniks had tried to force their way into Cuba. Boys and girls grow up, this is the way of the world and those that would foment unrest will not be coddled. They did what they did and paid a price and it was their choice.
Does anyone in the Muslim world have a job? They seem to have plenty of time to demonstrate and complain about how the world is picking on them. Is there no pride among these people? Turks, mind your own business. Israel is a Jewish nation as our God deemed it. You who worship the modern-day Baal and Dagon, sacrificing your children to fire, have no standing among civilized and productive nations and peoples.
Political Theater? People, UNARMED, trying to deliver food and medical supplies were killed in cold blood and you call this Political Theater? Murder trials (sense Israel didn't see the need too) are being called "Political Theater"? Boy you guys sure make it hard to back you!
"People, UNARMED" were in fact ARMED with knives and lead pipes, with which they tried to pound armed soldiers upside the head and got shot in self-defense.
Yes, when soldiers are put on trial for shooting criminals in self-defense, we call it a "Political Theater".
Just like the time Israeli terrorist murdered the 34 Americans on the LIBERTY in 1967 and attacked the American rescue ship injuring 174 in all ! Murder is all they know !
Get over it already. The people on the boat made a bad choice in trying to run a military blockade. No one to blame but themselves.
