'I remember all of the pain again': Obama victory infuriates Pakistani drone victims

Mohammad Hussain / AP

Supporters of cricket star-turned-politician Imran Khan's party raise their hands during a peace march protesting U.S. drone strikes on the outskirts of Tank, Pakistan, on Oct. 7.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — The roars celebrating the re-election of U.S. President Barack Obama on television give Mohammad Rehman Khan a searing headache, as years of grief and anger come rushing back.

The 28-year-old Pakistani accuses the president of robbing him of his father, three brothers and a nephew, all killed in a U.S. drone aircraft attack a month after Obama first took office.

"The same person who attacked my home has gotten re-elected," he told Reuters in the capital, Islamabad, where he fled after the attack on his village in South Waziristan, one of several ethnic Pashtun tribal areas on the Afghan border.

"Since yesterday, the pressure on my brain has increased. I remember all of the pain again."

The whole world was watching as America chose its president, and the general sentiment appeared to be a sigh of relief. NBC's Richard Engel reports.

World leaders welcome Obama's 2nd term — but many challenges loom

In his re-election campaign, Obama gave no indication he would halt or alter the drone program, which he embraced in his first term to kill al-Qaida and Taliban militants in Pakistan and Afghanistan without risking American lives.

Drone strikes are highly unpopular among many Pakistanis, who consider them a violation of sovereignty that cause unacceptable civilian casualties.

"Whenever he has a chance, Obama will bite Muslims like a snake. Look at how many people he has killed with drone attacks," said Haji Abdul Jabar, whose 23-year-old son was killed in such a bombing.

Analysts say anger over the unmanned aircraft may have helped the Taliban gain recruits, complicating efforts to stabilize the unruly border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan. That could also hinder Obama's plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan in 2014.

A group of 32 American anti-drone activists will join a march to Pakistan's tribal areas, where U.S. strikes have killed thousands of people over the last eight years. NBC News Amna Nawaz spoke to some of them.

Americans ignore 'great risks,' travel to Pakistan to protest US drone strikes

Obama authorized nearly 300 drone strikes in Pakistan during his first four years in office, more than six times the number during the administration of George W. Bush, according to the New America Foundation policy institute.

Since 2004, a total of 337 U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan have killed between 1,908 and 3,225 people.

The institute estimates about 15 percent of those killed were non-militants, although that percentage has declined sharply to about 1-2 percent this year. Washington says drone strikes are very accurate and cause minimal civilian deaths.

The Pakistani government says tens of thousands of Pakistanis have been killed in the fight against militants. Many were civilians caught in suicide bombings. Others were killed by the Pakistani army.

In Pakistan's largest city, 'Old Glory' is flammable and profitable

Getting accurate data on casualties and the effects of drones is extremely difficult in the dangerous, remote and often inaccessible tribal areas. The Taliban often seal off the sites of strikes.

Muhammed Muheisen / AP

Images of daily life, political pursuits, religious rites and deadly violence.

While the aerial campaign has weakened al-Qaida, its ally, the Pakistani Taliban, remains a potent force despite a series of Pakistan army offensives against their strongholds in the northwest.

Seen as the biggest security threat to the U.S.-backed Pakistani government, that faction of the Taliban is blamed for many of the suicide bombings across Pakistan, and a number of high-profile attacks on military and police facilities.

For many Pakistanis, 'USA' means drones

"We are amazed that Obama has been re-elected. But for us there is no difference between Obama and Romney; both are enemies. And we will keep up our jihad and fight alongside our Afghan brothers to get the Americans out of Afghanistan," Pakistan Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said.

On Thursday, a suicide bomber rammed the gates of a military base in Pakistan's biggest city, Karachi, killing at least one soldier and wounding more than a dozen people.

Pakistan's 'Generation Y' battles to shape country's future

Pakistanis were largely indifferent in the run-up to Tuesday's election, expecting little change to the drone attacks regardless of whether Obama or Republican challenger Mitt Romney won.

"Any American, whether Obama or Mitt Romney, is cruel," Warshameen Jaan Haji, whose neighborhood was struck by a drone last week, told Reuters on the eve of the election. "I lost my wife in the drone attack and my children are injured. Whatever happens, it will be bad for Muslims."

Pakistani politician Imran Khan, a vocal critic of U.S. drone strikes, said he believed Obama stepped up the attacks in his first term so he wouldn't look weak on national security.

Despite security concerns, presidential candidate Imran khan leads an anti-drone rally, including 30 Americans, into Pakistan's badlands. Amna Nawaz reports.

"I think Obama essentially has an anti-war instinct," he told Reuters. "Without the worry of being re-elected, he will de-escalate the war, including the use of drones. This is positive."

Can social media propel 'rock star' politician Imran Khan to power?

But for Mohammad Khan, who is not related to the former cricketer, the damage is already done.

The February 2009 drone attack that destroyed his home left him as the main provider for 13 family members, forcing him to move to Islamabad and work with a real estate company.

"When the Sandy hurricane came, I thought that Allah would wipe away America," he said. "America just wants to take over the world."

It is what it is. If they want to harbor Taliban within their community, we have no choice but to take out the entire community "along" with the Taliban.

This was the part of the thinking behind the drone attacks. You would think after losing 10,000 innocent civilians that they would tell the Taliban to stay the hell out but Noooo...... let's keep harboring them and complaining about being attacked. They have too much time on their hands man.

May be Pakistan, a pure Islamic nation, has lots of impure Muslims!

Pakistan should stop supporting terrorism. Obama is the one who is actually helping them understand that within their society and military, there are significant forces that are driving Pakistan and the world towards instability. Would Pakistanis prefer US leaders like Ronald Reagan and Bush Sr. who helped Pakistan create Taliban and Mujaheddin?

I think Mr. Obama enjoys killing innocent civilians. Maybe it replaces his "choom" high. The more innocents he murders the more "terrorists" will rise up and lash out at the US. I'm not sure why this is so hard for people to understand. We need to get the hell out of the Middle East and worry about the real issues that we face like the national debt, unemployment and repealing Obamacare.

Many Pakis just like other Sunni Muslims have to kill somebody! If there are no non-Muslims around, they kill each other (Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Iraq and so on).

Instead of your logic: if you give a break, then there will be more Islamic haters and killers.

No break should be given to these haters and killers.

We already have security cameras everywhere. It's only a matter of time before they're mandatory in all homes - to "prevent crime" "prevent child abuse" "prevent water waste" or for some other social goal of course. It might seem like an impossibility now to be sure, but we've tolerated invasions of privacy up until this point without putting up any resistance so there's no reason to think things will change in the future. Besides, this will happen in increments over the course of many years. It's not like it'll happen all at once. This will make it more palatable and more acceptable to folks. At any rate, its not the fault of any one party per se. It's probably more appropriate to blame the people and agencies that invent these kinds of surveillance toys, but since its a mortal sin in this country to question progress that

Bush set the tone for that. He apologized when our military burned the Qu'Ran and when we treated Iraqi Prisoners like dogs too. Oh wait, Bush never happened and after 34 murdered americans in 12 embassy attacks...he sure made the world safe for democracy.

As for Pakistan. It's saddening that innocent citizens were killed. However, we give your country BILLIONs in foreign aid while your government harbored a KNOWN Terrorist named OBL. Had you brought him forward, no one would have died.

British invented Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

US and allies have kept them on the map.

To solve 80 world problems including economic ones (high oil price manipulations and the resulting mess), why not wipe them out of the map?

But for Iraqi wars, Saddam would have wiped out Saudi Arabia out of the map!

Paks are weird- they are like an abused spouse : they get continually abused by their lover, but refuse to leave or do anything about it --- "I love him!" --- KNOWING that they will be hurt. Time to take some responsibility for their own actions.

The Paks want to blow us up, and think we are supposeed to sit here and just take it. Japan thought that too, back in 1940, a lesson to be learned.

Actually, if this WAS 1940, they'd all be dead right now - these days, it's not PC to kill the guy who is trying to kill you, and we all know you gotta be PC.

News flash: The FAA has indeed issued licenses for roughly 30,000 drones to be flown over the U.S.

News flash: The Seattle PD and numerous law enforcement agencies around the country already have drones:

Before you incinuating that someone is crazy, try doing a little research.

It's interesting to me that all the Obama apologists on here are defending the use of drones in Pakistan, even going so far as to blame innocent Pakistanis. Imagine your son or daughter being killed by a drone.

I know you really like Obama, but it shouldn't mean that he gets a free pass on everything he does. The use of drones violates the sovereignty of countries, kills innocent civilians, and ultimately creates more enemies in the end.

Did you not read the exit polls that most people still blame Bush for the mess we are in. Here is the real deal. Bush and the Republicans not only ruined the economy of Americans but messed up the entire worlds economy's and the answer to the question you creeps keep asking on when will people stop blaming Bush.....is when the problems he created get fixed and we are a long way from that end at present. Btw we are still suffering from Reagans trickle down BSalso and Bush's daddy's term so chew on that.

When Reagan took over, the economy was NOT in the shape it is now. He was not facing an 11 TRILLION deficit, 800K jobs being lost per month, and the housing bubble did he? Reagan did work with the Dems to resolve the problems, but amazing that the DEMS did not sign a pledge to not work with the president now did they.

I'm glad you reference Reagan, he also signed a bill that forced emergency rooms to treat patients regardless if they had insurance or not. This even spans illegal immigrants. Hmmm..

Reagan a leader? He also made ketchup a vegetable and sold illegal arms to Iran to support a little WAR in central america too. Reagan also didn't support legitimate rape, telling us what our religion should be, marriage, or start a war on women's right. He was certainly a better candidate than ROMNEY.

You can keep your head in the sand and pretend its all the dems fault, but facts indicate otherwise. BOTH parties need to WORK together, or things will never really get better now will they.

Darren, when 90-95% of drone strike casualties are civilians, one has to ask how well this strategy will play out in the long run. The drone strikes may be taking out a tiny number of legitimate targets but the amount of civilian deaths just causes more hate, anger and resentment towards the US.

Johnathon, you said:" Many Pakis just like other Sunni Muslims have to kill somebody! If there are no non-Muslims around, they kill each other (Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Iraq and so on)."

The idiocy posted on this thread is appalling. Keep killing them until they finally learn their lesson to love the USA? Is that the attitude here? That's the kind of arrogance that will doom the USA.

Killing innocent relatives CREATES more anger and hatred of the USA. It creates more "terrorists" which is very often, perhaps most often, just a convenient demonizing word for a foreigner who wants justice for his own personal 911 that he suffered though because of some high horsed, nobel-peace prized winner's decision to bomb.

The Pakistan government agrees to these strikes in part because they get $$$ from the US government. It's just corruption talking.

It's written in our D of I that ALL people are created equal, and that the people have the right to be governed as they see fit. Why don't the Pakistanis also have this same right? Leave them the hell alone and let them find their own destiny. Obviously the Taliban is no model of civil rights, but Pakistanis have to find their own way. If you personally are so concerned about internal Pakistani politics, fine, grab a gun or a pen as you see fit and go over there and do your best or worst. But the US government should stay the hell out of Pakistan.

If the U.S. government approved the use of Pakistani drones over the U.S. would you be okay with it? Government approval does not automatically make something right.

As for creating more enemies, just put 2 and 2 together, and ask yourself, why does the M.E. hate the U.S. so much?

It is that mentality that allows the government to continue chipping away at our constitution. Nobody gives a rip about NDAA, because it only applies to "terrorists" or those known to support terrorism. Never mind the fact that it is a complete violation of the constitution. Drones, the TSA, Homeland Security, and Fusion Centers all bring us closer and closer to a complete police state, but you are okay with that because it doesn't affect you...until one day it does.

How was Bin Laden a "friend" of Bush sr or jr for that matter? Amazing how so many people refuse to research a little and toss out comments like that without any real material. The Bin laden family is one of the most well known in Saudi Arabia ue to their massive construction company. OBL had no formal "CIA training". He was not acquired by CIA handlers who by the way were restricted from majority of access to the Pashtun tribes and Mujhadeen leaders during the Afghan-Soviet conflict. The Pakistan ISI and military trained the more hardcore Islamist among the tribes to use as a proxy-force against their real believed enemy:India. OBL heard the calls for "jihad against the soviets" back in Saudi Arabia. He followed suit just as countless others headed towards Pakistan to fight the Soviets back then. He was already wealthy. He had key contacts within the Saudi Royal Family and the Saudi government was backing dollar per dollar with every deposit of US funds. We didn't notice OBL until his formal disagreements with the Saudi Royal family over concerns of allowing US troops (non-Muslims/non-believers) to be stationed in Islam's holy country that holds Mecca. Please do a little more reading, there are countless books since 9/11 that gives a pretty good understanding where OBL came from, his creation of "the base" aka AQ and his teachings to his immediate inner circles. The ability to revert back to Bush family is amazing.

We did go into Afghanistan to kill and capture Bin Laden. Also, please review the several attempts by former President Clinton on taking out OBL. He had a few chances which may have ended OBL's life earlier than last year. A much more in depth discussion than the idea of "Bush and Bin laden were buddies..."

Pakistan will never "formally" cut ties with the Taliban. It prevents the more radical Islamist from taking their anger and pointing it towards the Pakistan government. Pakistan uses the Taliban as it's proxy force to prevent Afghanistan from every obtaining some form of normality and democratic ideas. To have a more pro-democratic Afghanistan would limit Pakistan's ability and influence. Pakistan needs groups like the Taliban to maintain it's ranks with experienced fighters who will carry out orders when prompted by the Pakistan Intelligence Serivces (ISI). Also, the connection with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is significant and often overlooked. It was during Pakistan's President Zia's tenure that the massive Wahhabist doctrine and influence from Saudi Arabia came to be. Majority of state run Pakistan mosque were funded and built through Saudi monetary donations. Many of the clerics which rotated into Pakistan from SA were much more hardcore Islamist than is usually discussed. Many of the Islamic charaties which were a cover for massive cash deposits came from the more anti-western connections. Many of the reasons that Zia did not want US intervention let alone personnel reviewing the training was because Pakistan needed these Mujhadeen fighters to become the armed "preachers" in a sense to spread the Wahhab doctrine all the way into areas of China.

There are probably 250,000 Islamic militants hiding out in Pakistan - a quarter of a million turds that NEED to be taken out of the gene pool permanently. So President Obama's message to them has to be, "The worst is yet to come, just watch me."

Mac, that is the problem with people that do nothing but tout party lines, they are too kool-aided up to see the truth of a clear and present danger that has existed for a great many years, and doesn't appear to be going away any time soon. The M.E. hates this one day, that the next, it is just one convenient lie to the next for the savage part of their culture/religion/governmental tool.

Since 9/11 there has been about 53 terrorist plots that have been foiled which the target were American citizens. At least 43 of the 53 plots involved natural or naturalized US citizens. The next major terrorist action that occurs within the US will most likely be conducted by an American or groups of Americans who have become indoctrinated by some method (via pro-Islamist websites, teachings, personal contact, foreign travels to known terrorism locations, etc).

        DingleB,

Don't know where you're getting your information from but, "little" or "no" threat to us? OMG,

Where the hell were you on 911?

I was serving our country, in the military. More people die from dog attacks then from terrorism. We are bankrupting our country, killing innocent civilians, and creating more terrorists through our actions.

.... The M.E. doesn't believe in most of what we believe in and want to extinguish us simply because of that.

That is what we tell ourselves, but it is not true. It is what our politicians tell us in order to keep the military industrial complex going. The truth is that we are creating enemies who wouldn't otherwise be, but for our foreign intervention.

No pun but obviously you haven't served your country other than paying taxes.

        Wrong again.

If we pull out of there, it will open the doors for them to systematically strike USA here and there little by little killing us which includes Americans in other countries.

Not on my watch brotha. I'd rather die trying than sit back and let them plot their acts of terrorism.

Strong national defense it the primary role of the federal government. There is no arguing, that in this day and age, we must maintain the world's strongest national defence. National defense does not entail intervening into the affairs of countries like Libya, Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, etc. National defense does entail building schools, roads, and hospitals in foreign countries. We are the aggressor when it comes to drone strikes and other military action in the Middle East. In foreign policy, the best defense is not a strong offense.

          @ Dingle B:

Our military is sometimes assigned to conduct non-aggressive roles such as SASO (Stability and Support Operations). Since WW2 we have conducted assistance with the host countries as far as water purification, infrastructure repair, medical assistance, law enforcement protection, logistical support for basic food/water requirements. It comes along with the mission. You stated you served in the military and for that you have and assist in maintaining the ability to voice your approval or disapproval to any subject. I will disagree with previous comments that it is all just based on the workings of the MIC (military industrail complex). I have watched the same bias documentaries like "Why We Fight", "Iraq for Sale", etc. But the United States does have real enemies. The Chinese and Russians are by no means our "friends or allies". When we stop buying cheap chinese made goods we will then see the real China poke it's head out. Terrorism is not going away. Syria falls from within I gurantee that you will see residual effects in the Middle East which will effect oil/fuel prices as well as other issues. Syria holds the largest concentration of chemical/biological/nerve warheads in the Middle East. Serious situation if the country goes belly-up and you have several very large ammunition supply points that get overrun by radical islamist or pro-Al Qaeda supporters. What type of destructive capabilities do you think that a terrorist cell could do with say several tons of chemical grade weapons? These type of munitions you do not need a large amount. Just a small charge enough to get the stuff into the air could do serious damage and a high number of dead with little chance of making it out of the kill zone alive. Libya is unstable. Egypt is heading to become hardcore Islamist based, and Iran may go nuclear. By the way Vice President Biden made a serious error during the debates when he said that Iran does not have the capability to launch a nuclear warhead. That is incorrect since Iran has at least two missile (SCUD like) systems which could field a medium and large warhead into Israel and areas like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The biggest threat to our national security is our national debt. It is not merely about "saving a few bucks." Your "international...no limits" defense is unsustainable.

Also, as your buddy Mac says, "The next major terrorist action that occurs within the US will most likely be conducted by an American" not from the Mid East. Bring our troops home.

Excellent points. Part of my point is, as I said above, that our debt is one of the biggest threats to our national security. China, as you stated, is not our friend or ally, yet they hold nearly 4 trillion of our debt. We are spending ourselves to the point of being beholden to governments we may end up having to defend ourselves against and with whom we are trying to compete. We cannot financially sustain our foreign policy status quo, and on top of that, we are not making the world more secure, we are making it worse. Egypt and Libya were more stable prior to our involvement. Same holds true with Syria. We ought not be supporting the overthrow of Assad.

I understand we have real enemies, and I don't pretend they will all go away if we pulled out of the Mid East. Pulling troops out and concentrating our efforts at home is our best solution to those threats though.

          Give it a rest!

Darren, when 90-95% of drone strike casualties are civilians, one has to ask how well this strategy will play out in the long run. The drone strikes may be taking out a tiny number of legitimate targets but the amount of civilian deaths just causes more hate, anger and resentment towards the US.

I cant believe no one called this guy out on these figures... 90-95% of drone strikes casualties are civilians???? Once I read that I just kept scrolling. The study by Stanford Law School and New York University's School of Law calls for a re-evaluation of the practice, saying the number of "high-level" targets killed as a percentage of total casualties is extremely low -- about 2%.

          http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/25/world/asia/pakistan-us-drone-strikes/index.html

That leaves 98% remaining as low level targets, bystanders, and as a result of "double striking", first responders.

Obviously I cannot directly verify the report, but Darren's comment isn't coming from out of nowhere.

            #1.62 - Thu Nov 8, 2012 2:35 PM EST

Low level targets to me does not constitute civi's - and neither does the quote from the Stanford Law School. I did go to that CNN article and read it and the figures I always see produced are from TBIJ which is a foreign independent organization. I am one that believes the truth always lies some where in the middle, but as to state that 90-95% of the deaths are civilian is a flat out lie, just as the New America Foundation stating that this year it is 1-2%.

Also this begs the question, what is a civilian in this region of the world, when their civilians harbor terrorists and the terrorists hide behind them? I dont think civi and combatant is as cut and dry any more in the world we live in today.

              #1.63 - Thu Nov 8, 2012 3:02 PM EST

The problem with situations as the story describes is the target and the immediate surronding area. The Taliban are far from being stupid and they have learned a great deal on the power of the camera and how it can be used to sway public opinion. Many times a target could be identified and located and other information may be missing. You can see the person walking at the location but you may not have the intelligence needed to confirm if the mosque which has been designated as a training camp is not also during the day a school for the local village children.

Weapons and ammunition could be stored at the site which also when struck by a drone missile causes three times the explosive power than what you originally assessed. Then when the smoke clears and the debris is removed we see an international press team covering the removal of unarmed innocent women and kids with the headline, "US drone strike kills (X) amount of Pakistan civilians, local villagers outraged..." The press will forget to place that local villagers also confirmed that a large explosive cache of small arms ammo and IED materials were being stored under the mosque or site. But the damage has already been done. The local media coverage is picked up by say Al Jazeria or Al Arabiya and the Arab world "condemns the US for using drone attacks against innocent civilians". The taliban and the Haqqani network know this and use this method all the time. It was common in Iraq to receive small arms fire from a mosque or even the cemetary but due to rules of engagement we could not fire back. The insurgents knew it and the media knew it, but when US service members returned fire due to accurate mortar/rocket/sniper fire, the media coverage was bias and all is said, "US troops open fire on historic Islamic mosque..."

If you give just 1/4th the story then you don't really know what was going on before the strike. More to this story than just a drone firing into a random building.

First YOU were NOT a participant of Operation Cyclone, and YOU only reading crap written by non participants from information from other non participants. Below are the Basic facts known by the participants that were vetting, training, then risking their lives leading the 1980s Pro US Muhajeen they trained into Combat.

Second I previously explained in detail where the 1990s FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Taliban came from, and why. And how the FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Pakistanis Taliban started and why.

Third I also described what happened to the 1980s Pro US Muhajeen of Operation Cyclone after the US Abandoned them and after the 1990s FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC Taliban gained power at Afghanistan.

Fourth Operation Cyclone was known as "Charlie Wilson's War" for the Reason that Senator Charles Wilson Democrat Texas DEMANDED that the US get involved with defeating the USSR 40th Army Occupation of Afghanistan. He alone rallied the rest of US Congress to demand US Involvement, with US Congress then Demanding that the US President get involved.

DingleB - I think when we're deciding whether or not to use drones in Pakistan or Yemen, we should first ask ourselves, why are we over there at all?

If you have to even say that, that means you did not do your basic homework (research).

DingleB - Bring our troops home and stop attacking foreign countries who pose little or no threat to our security.

You KNOW that they are not a threat how, based on an uneducated opinion. And do NOT tell me you have current information from the US Intelligence Agencies.

DingleB -It is what our politicians tell us in order to keep the military industrial complex going.

President Obama, 2012, "A 10% Defense Budget Cut will result in a MILLION (US) Civilians becoming unemployed".

The US Military Defense Industrial Complex as previously created by President FDR got the US out of the Great Depression in 1939 thru the Sales of War Materials to England, France, Russia, China, etc. usually paid in Gold, Silver or Resources, long before US Entry into WWII 1941. It was after the Failures of his "New Deal to the American People" and his realizing that US Consumerism would never get the Great Depression that he started the Nationalization of US Industry and US Businesses starting his US Military Defense Industrial Complex.

Chancellor Hitler declared the Shipments of "War Materials" to Germany's Enemies an Act of War, 1939-1941, instead of Declaring War Against the US, Chancellor Hitler sent his infamous U-Boats (Submarines) to sink the US Merchant Ships transporting "War Materials" and returning to the US with payments of Gold, Silver, Resources.

During WWII, many women were employed by President FDR's US Military Defense Industrial Complex to replace the Men that were Drafted. After WWII this is what really started the current "Middle Class" as Rosey the Riveter (saved all her money) and when the Men returned from WWII (combined incomes and savings) Rosey the Riveter became Rosey the Homemaker (the Baby Boom).

Currently the US Military Defense Industrial Complex employs directly and indirectly almost a hundred million overpaid too expensive US Civilians.

DingleB - Egypt and Libya were more stable prior to our involvement. Same holds true with Syria. We ought not be supporting the overthrow of Assad.

Agreed because of the fact that the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran's Special Forces, Quds, was training, arming, funding, etc. the Holy Warriors of Islam at the Fundamentalist Islamic Autonomous Kurdistanis Region in Asymmetric Warfare specifically to Overthrow the Established Governments of US Allies. Examples: The Fundamentalist Islamic Muslim Brotherhood (Egypt), the Fundamentalist Islamic Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (Libya), the Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada International Franchises, the Fundamentalist Islamic Hamas Foreign Fighters, the Fundamentalist Islamic Hezbollah, long list of etc..

DingleB - Pulling troops out and concentrating our efforts at home is our best solution to those threats though.

Until the US gets out of the United Nations and NATO, the US will always be the "World Police", with the US Military used as the UN's Military B!tches at US Taxpayer expense. While the Chinese and Russian Federation sit back and laugh.

Think about this (number of US Jobs): President Obama as Commander In Chief has Ordered the Reduction In Forces of the US Military of 90,000 US Military Personnel to be thrown on Unemployment further straining the Veteran's Affairs (Administration), also to become Unemployed are 108,000 US Civilians that were employed by the US Military. According to President Obama's Proposal to US Congress these numbers to be thrown on Unemployment will increase in 2013.

Unlike GM and Chrysler, the "US Military Must Buy Only US Products, Goods, and Services". So this means all the US Civilians that supply these US Products, US Goods, and US Services will also become Unemployed (due to a decreased demand based on the size of the US Military).

              Mac-295039, post#1.64,

What you are describing is Asymmetric Warfare versus Conventional Warfare. The reality is that most of the US Public, US Politicians, and the majority of the US Military have NO idea of even how Asymmetric Warfare is conducted and only have some ideas (opinions) of how Conventional Warfare is conducted as currently only 1% of US Citizens are Serving in the US Military, while 92% NEVER Served (like a virgin writting a book on what it feels like to have sex with the opposite sex), so the 92% have to rely on information written by non participants based on information from other non participants, or someone's uninformed uneducated politically motivated propaganda sound bite; and refuse to even listen to those with actual firsthand experience (survived while the majority did not).

Historically, Asymmetric Warfare wins against Conventional Warfare. Asymmetric Warfare's Strategic Goals defeat or negate any or all Battles won by Conventional Warfare.

Any pacifist who voted for Obama sure made a mistake!

When I saw this article, something sounded familiar. Some folks from the Ithaca, NY area went on this trip. I ran into a guy who went there. It aroused my curiosity when he said there would be a meeting where those who went would talk about what happened. The meeting got called off. Another was to happen, but it got called off. The Ithaca local free newspaper carried a big long article about it. It was interesting. I am somewhat of two minds on this issue. I would have been curious what they had to say and would have loved to ask questions. Most people do not have the raw nerve to enter a place like Pakistan.

Drones is the cheap skate solution to a national security problem, and therefore, sloppy and generating ill will. If we did it like the cold war, with networks of CIA case officers and such in the area to get real intelligence as to who is really a dangerous militant, we could get the bad guys and leave common folk in peace. But we are not the country we once were in the old days. Now we are but the shadow of our former self doing things on the cheap and failing to even shore up our own infrastructure like the declining days of the Roman Empire when the Celts were whooping their butts.

Hehehehe... an excerpt from one of my favorite movies...

I tend to consider other means of dealing with an enemy but my patience is wearing thin with these Pakistanis. We did (do) in fact give them Billions in aid (appeasement money) and find out O.B.L's foul stench is right under their noses?! Another person here said it before I could, it seems, at least from reliable news reports (not faux nooz) that they continue killing people of their own ilk (islamist) and don't seem too upset but when the U.S. eliminates a few civilians they want to burn our country... I try, really try to give a sh** about these people but;" It appears that the only thing these people understand is brutal force"- a direct quote from an American soldier on security detail following the fall of Baghdad-

PJ: The way Afghan war has been going with Pakis as "strategic allies", I have strong doubts about the US having control over Paki nukes!

Many in the US have not been able to determine: who are friends and who are backstabbing and ungrateful enemies (Pakis and Saudis).

No doubt about that Jon. I consider Saudis as bigger terrorists. All except one of the 911 hijackers were Saudis. Bin Laden was a Saudi.

Most of the major Middle Eastern countries which have immense wealth support groups which we would consider "terrorist". Saudi Arabia has a lot of "royal family members" and they have a lot of money and some support those who openly oppose the US. But over there they are called "donations". The Saudi government is not the biggest supporter of terrorism. Iran is an entire country that supports terrorism on a grand scale. That is why Iran is a "state sponsor" meaning that it provides military aid, economic aid, and safehaven for several terrorism organizations. Groups like Ansar Al Islam, Hezbullah, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, etc. Also, Bin Laden was no longer a citizen of Saudi Arabia during 9/11. His Saudi citizenship had been revoked back in the mid 1990s due to his on-going public decrees against the Saudi Royal Family and King. That is one reason why more intelligence were provided on Bin laden after he refused to come home and calm down by requests from the Saudi government. He attacked Khobar towers, attempted to attack Saudi oil infrastructure and personnel. Saudi had to cut all ties once he was not going to return and stop terrorist attacks.

The above is PROOF YOU KNOW NOTHING PJ-1795048.

The Fundamentalist Islamic (Shia Believer) Osama Bin Laden created the Fundamentalist Islamic (Shia Belief) Al Quada International Franchise to Overthrow the Sunnis US Ally Saudi Arabia Government and as the Fundamentalist Islamic (Shia) "Holy Warriors of Islam" of the 109 Suras of the 114 Suras of the Holy Koran Calls to All Islamic Believers to War Against the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers defeat the US and US Allies.

Saudi Arabia has been a target for al-Qaida attacks in the past.

And unlike YOU, PJ-1795048, I know from Firsthand Experience (Survival) that the Holy Warriors of Islam do NOT recognize any manmade lines drawn on maps unless it is used to their advantage during their use of Asymmetric Warfare.

As after the Overthrow of US Ally Egypt the Fundamentalist Islamic (Shia belief) Holy Warrior's of Jonathan-1982062 Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Islamic Belief of Al Quada Saudi Arabia (AQ), Al Quada Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Al Quada Syria (AQS), Al Quada Yemen (AQY), Hezbollah, Al Quada Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), etc. were going back and forth between Egypt and Libya so that Former US Ally President Gaddaffi's Military could not get them without violating Egypt's Sovereignty.

Jonathan-1982062 - Many in the US have not been able to determine: who are friends and who are backstabbing and ungrateful enemies (Pakis and Saudis).

There you go again with your Taqiya again. And the Uneducated No Experience like PJ-1795048 believed your Taqiya, congratulations Jonathan-1982062.

Facts: Pakistan is controlled by three Groups: The Pakistanis People most being Fundamentalist Islamic Believers; that Historically, broke away from Hindu India, and became an Islamic Nation. The Government of Pakistan plus most of the Pakistanis Military, as a US Ally. The Pakistanis Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) Agency.

Sunnis Saudi Arabia as Ruled by the House of Saud, has been an Ally of the West for the longest time (as far back as prior to and during World War One). To the extent of even pissing off the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations (renamed the Arab League of States to protect the guilty) as established by Fundamentalist Islamic (Shia) Amin Al Husseini with the Original Charter of the Extermination of the Jews; as well as Fundamentalist Islamic Amin Al Husseini signing the 1933 Islamic World's Forever Alliance with Chancellor Hitler.

By pissing off the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia, the Moderate Sunnis US Ally of Saudi Arabia has suffered numerous attacks by Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Holy Warriors of Islam, like the Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada.

After the 1993 First World Trade Center Bombing, Fundamentalist Islamic Osama Bin Laden (OBL) went back to Saudi Arabia and the US Ally Saudi Arabian Government detained OBL. The US Ally Saudi Arabia Government offered President Clinton extradition of OBL, with President Clinton refusing the US Ally Saudi Arabia Government's offer. The US Ally Saudi Arabian Government requested evidence from President Clinton of OBL's involvement with the 1993 First World Trade Center Bombing; President Clinton refused, so the US Ally Saudi Arabian Government without sufficient evidence had to release OBL. Based on this previous Collaboration with the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers, the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran (Ayatollahs) issued Death Penalty Fatawas against the US Ally Saudi Arabian Government and were admonished by the Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League of Nations Membership; just like they did for US Ally President Gaddaffi for Collaborating with the US during President Bush (43) especially President Gaddaffi's Military killing "Holy Warriors of Islam" at Libya and Cooperating with the US CIA.

Majority of terrorism in islamic world emanates from Sunni Islam as opposed to Shia islam. But regardless - Laden was a CIA operative. Was funded by the US government until USSR withdrew. That's when he turned against US.

LIKE I POSTED BEFORE YOU WERE NOT A PARTICIPANT OF OPERATION CYCLONE. And are relying on baloney from other Non Participants written from information from other Non Participants.

As during Operation Cyclone to prevent inflitration of USSR Counter Intelligence Agents, USSR Spetsnaz, Pro USSR Afghan Inflitrators, etc. WE (NOT YOU as a non participant) carefully VETTED each and everyone we trained. Because there were so many Osamas, Husseins, Mohammads (different spellings of each) we had to take photos, fingerprints, write detailed descriptions of each including their village of birth, all their relatives, physical features, etc.. Many only had one name so we attached their village of birth as their last names; so Osama Bin Laden would have been Osama Al Rubat.

During Operation Cyclone Fundamentalist Islamic Osama Bin Laden was living with his Rich Saudi Relatives at Saudi Arabia forming his Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada International Franchises, to Overthrow the Sunnis US Ally Saudi Arabian Government and fight the US And US Allies. They start to plan the 1993 First World Trade Center Bombing while Operation Cyclone is still occuring.

                  PJ-1795048 - Wahabis

The Wahabis are FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAM that live at a Sunnis Nation. Just like there are Christians that live at the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran.

How about this PJ-1795048 you go learn Arabic at an Islamic Nation, so that you can go to a College at an Islamic Nation to learn Islam as taught only in Arabic. Then from since the US Military Training Teams attached to the CIA's SAD/SOG to US Ally Iraq during the Iran Iraq Wars, rotated to Operation Cyclone till now YOU, PJ-1795048, deal with the Islamic World mostly by living with the locals for years of consecutive tours, so that we can finally come home and enjoy weekend barbeques, etc..

Once again those with NO KNOWLEDGE NOR EXPERIENCE POST NONSENSE.

Pakistan is controlled by three Groups: The Pakistanis People most being Fundamentalist Islamic Believers; that Historically, broke away from Hindu India, and became an Islamic Nation. The Government of Pakistan plus most of the Pakistanis Military, as a US Ally. The Pakistanis Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) Agency.

The Government of Pakistan plus most of the Pakistanis Military, as a US Ally; continually attacks the Fundamentalist Islamic Holy Warriors of Islam, much to the dislike of the Fundamentalist Islamic People of Pakistan and the majority of the Pakistanis Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) Agency (most being Fundamentalist Islamic Believers).

After the 9/11 2001 Attacks, the United Nations and US (President Bush (43)) make deals with the Government of Pakistan to provide UN and US Logistics Bases at Pakistan, to support the UN Mission at Landlocked Afghanistan.

In March 2009 President Obama stated his Iran Policy, the Ayatollahs of Iran believed that President Obama was negotiating from a position of the US Defeat. The Ayatollahs of Iran increase their Overt and Covert Activities against the US And US Allies Worldwide.

President Obama's Executive Intelligence Agency, the CIA, warns President Obama of the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran's Overt and Covert Activities, to increase Iran's Strategic Sphere of Influence Worldwide. President Obama refuses to listen.

The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran, increased their Special Forces, Quds, training, arming, funding of the hundreds of thousands of the "Holy Warriors of Islam" at the Fundamentalist Islamic Autonomous Kurdistanis Region of Northern Iraq, Syria, Southern Turkey, Northwestern Iran. Same area that the US Hikers were captured and imprisoned by Iran. The "Holy Warriors of Islam" conduct Asymmetric Warfare and Overthrow US Allies, as the President Obama "Arab Spring".

The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran tells the Islamic Shia Government of Iraq, no more negotiations with President Obama and SOS Clinton or the The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran will Overthrow the Islamic Shia Government of Iraq. The Results: The US got KICKED OUT of the Islamic Shia Iraq; the Iraqis Oil that could have paid for the US and US Allies Liberation of Iraq with Decades to Centuries of Iraqis Oil goes to the Allies of Iran, the Chinese and Russian Federation. The Libyan Oil becomes of Strategic Importance to the US European Allies.

The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran tells the Islamic Nation of Pakistan NO MORE US Logistics Bases (including MQ (Armed Drones) and RQ (Reconnaissance Drones) Bases at Pakistan) or the The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran will come across the Border (see a map before you say that Afghanistan separates them) and Overthrow the US Ally Pakistanis Government, with the Fundamentalist Islamic Holy Warriors of Islam then getting control of the Pakistanis Nuclear Arsenal.

Without these US Logistics support bases at Pakistan the UN, US, NATO Mission at Afghanistan requires the withdrawal of US Military and NATO Military Forces from Afghanistan. As other means of Logistics support can only support 30,000.

President Obama tells the US Public a Error of Omission (Lawyer term for a Lie, by purposely not including all the Facts), and states that the US Military will be withdrawing from Afghanistan by 2014 as promised. Instead of stating that the UN, US, NATO Mission at Afghanistan was screwed up due to his Policies, that resulted in the US having to close the US Logistics Support Bases at Pakistan and without these US Logistics Support Bases at Pakistan the US must decrease the numbers of US Military and NATO Military Forces.

President Obama negotiated then signs an Agreement with President Karzai for 30,000 US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces to remain at Afghanistan Indefinitely after the withdrawal of the US Military Conventional Warfare Forces 2014. Without the support of the US Military Conventional Warfare Forces, the US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces will lack the necessary (Mission Critical) Support for a sustained Mission beyond 2014.

The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran tells the Afghans that they must negotiate with Iran's Ally the Chinese for the Mineral Wealth of Afghanistan. The China Metallurgical Group gets the Mineral Wealth of Afghanistan. In 2011 the Chinese placed Restrictions on the Shipments of Minerals to the US And US Allies. These minerals are required for the current and future US Alternative Energy, the US Alternative Energy Corporations that President Obama gave US Taxpayer Money to, collapse. The Chinese benefit as now all US High Tech must be Made In China, and the Chinese can "adopt" (steal) any or all US High Tech designs without having to pay the high costs for R&D.

Even Steven Jobs knew what the F**k was going on so he moved production of Apple Corporation products from California to China. With the resulting Chinese "adopting" the Apple Technology and creating less expensive high quality "copies", using the US High Tech Fully Automated Factories and Plants as not allowed by the US Labor Unions (labor intensive, aka numbers of US Jobs) at the US since the 1980s (I want to see any of you create a hand made precision product in the same amount of time as a CNC machine with continuous laser measurements.).

It has been the Longterm Strategic Goal of the Chinese and Russian Federation to get the US And US Allies out of their Backyards (Resources).

The Chinese and Russian Federation have been using the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran as their "Proxy Fighter".

The Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran has been using the "Holy Warriors of Islam" as their "Proxy Fighters" Worldwide.

                      The Chinese, Russian Federation and the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran have been building up their Militarises to protect all their Gains from the US And US Allies Losses Worldwide due to President Obama's Policies. Do not even give me that BULLSH!T that the US spends more on Defense argument, since the Chinese, Russian Federation, and the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Republic of Iran still get every dimes worth that they spend, while the US pays $275 Labor to US Civilians to create a $25 hammer; AND the US Defense Budget includes those US Army Corps of Engineers Infrastructure Projects/Programs within the US like Bridges, Water Reservoirs, Levees, Dredging, etc.;

                      AND many NON US Military Related Funding (as to why the US Military Budget needs to be separated from the overall US Defense Budget, so that the uneducated US Civilians can see just how little is actually spent on the US Military;

proof President Obama claims "Rebuilding US Infrastructure" and demands a chop to the US Defense Budget (including US Army Corps of Engineers US Infrastructure Projects) and all of you jump up and down like monkeys believing President Obama's Error of Omission.).

Politicians manipulate voters every day with half-truths -- or outright lies -- about taxes, spending and many other issues that directly affect the nation's prosperity.

Too many voters embrace feel-good propaganda that they want to hear instead of learning the basic facts about issues they care about. They should do a better job of calling out dishonest politicians -- and shunning media outlets that stoke political food fights.

80 percent of world's Islamic radicalism and terrorism problems are due to Sunni Saudis and Pakis.

They breed them; support them; and export them. Pakis Islamic madness have no limits!

Even in 9/11, Sunni Saudis, Pakis and UAE (funding) had a major hand!

Most of the world is furious with Pakis for their barbaric and beastly acts!

Before followers of Islamic cult set their feet on Afghan and Paki regions, they were quite peaceful and prosperous.

Once the cancer of Islam gradually got control of the region, they have become raping, stealing, looting and killing fields.

They have become breeding and exporting centers for illegal activities including drugs growing and trading and export of Islamic radicals and terrorists all over the world.

In Pakistan, first it was massive genocides of minorities from 48-50 as soon as Pakistan was formed in 47. Pakistan is supposed to be a pure Islamic nation.

Percentages of Hindus and Sikhs were reduced from about 24 percent less than three years by rapings, stealing, lootings, terrorizing and killing on a massive scale.

Now the Paki Islamic religious madness has not ended there.

They are after Ahmedias, Sufis (fake love and dance Islamic soap opera people), Shiites, Hazaras, and Baloochs and other minority sects.

                      Shiites form twenty percent.

While praying their mosques are blown to pieces on Fridays and even hospitals are bombed to kill those injured.

A Washington, DC based think tank Middle East Media Research Institute (www.memri.org) provides good details what is going in Pakistan.

Why don't you tell all the uneducated that the FUNDAMENTALIST ISLAMIC SHIA REPUBLIC OF IRAN is directly training, arming, funding, and supporting the "Holy Warriors of Islam" (Islamic Jihadists aka Terrorists) Worldwide.

                              Moesh,

Jonathan-1982062 admitted that he is a Fundamentalist Islamic Shia (aka Sharia). It is known just how much the Fundamentalist Islamic Shia hate (kill) the Moderate Liberal Sunnis, especially the Sunnis that Collaborate with the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers (a Death Penalty crime according to Fundamentalist Islam); like Sunnis US Ally Saudi Arabia.

Screw the pakistani with the headache. If they had the balls to run the taliban from their country we wouldn't have to do it for them. Stop the drones and the financial aid at the same time and see how long it takes them to make a phone call. I didn't vote for Obama, but I also couldn't care less how many pakis get taken out with drones. If your close enough to get killed, then you knew they were there in the first place. The pakis seem pretty good at not doing $hit for themselves, so we have to send them money and take care of them. Hell, they might as well move over here and join the rest of the freeloaders. They'll live the good life for at least 4 years and probably won't get shot at (unless they settle in Chicago, where no one is safe).

Wow. Wouldn't you have had the same reaction as this man if it was a family member of yours that was killed during 9/11? Just because someone is Pakistani doesn't automatically make them a terrorist. The hatred across the world is bad enough as it is. Because of 9/11, we had a nation of 300 million people who despised one individual, and rightfully so. Don't see how this man's reaction is any different.

azdrl66 - I don't believe that the pakis don't know where the taliban are. They live among them, hide them, defend them, all the while taking money from the US. 9/11 didn't happen because we were providing cover for somebody. Your comparison between how a 9/11 victim feels compared to a drone attack victim is just plain stupid.

Another thing for azdrl66, the 9/11 attack was an act of terrorism against this country. A drone attack is to keep it from happening again. The US wasn't hiding anyone in the twin towers, the pentagon or the field in PA that the crazies were after. Unlike pakistan, where all the crazies are being hidden. Again, SCREW THIS DUDE WITH THE HEADACHE. If you don't like the way your house is being cleaned, clean it yourself.

Hmm...a close family member killed by a foreign person, all due to hatred. Nahhhh...that doesn't sound like 9/11 at all. I can see where your tolerance level is anyway, automatically backing your claims by calling a thought of someone else's "stupid". Notice how I didn't overact in such a harsh way with what you wrote.

Also the story tends to leave out key points like, "I do not why the American drones attacked and bombed our village.." It was not like the Taliban, Haqqani Network, various splinter Islamist groups, were operating from the same area, stored weapons, ammo, in the village. The mosque is a training center for suicide bombing and indoctrination...... Honestly I have no idea why the house was hit with a missile?

Just because someone is Pakistani doesn't automatically make them a terrorist.

Missiles are not fired at any ole Pakistani. Missiles are carefully targeted to take out armed al-Qaida and Taliban militants and leadership. They are tracked, sometimes for weeks on end, and the strikes are designed to kill only the terrorists. Often that means waiting for them to go for a drive where they are blown up away from others. Occasionally militant compounds are blown up when there's no sign of women or children around. This is not some reckless program that's killing more civilians than militants. As the article says, it's probably more like 1-2% civilians out of one hundred killed. For any war that is an incredibly small % of civilian casualties. Drone technology allows for killing the bad guys without killing many innocents in the process.

Just thinking, how do we know that the military takes such precautions before using drones? How do we know they spend all this time doing this? Where’s our ultimate source? Because if it’s the military I would hardly call that an independent and un-biased source, likewise we can hardly claim the Taliban unbiased either (although in that regard I do like how people have automatically labelled regular Pakistani civilians in the area as Taliban sympathises in order to discredit their evidence but that’s a different issue) which occurs to me to be the main reasons why drones are so controversial, as given the conditions they operate in (so secrecy, terrain etc.) there is no way the public can independently verify what is going on and thus the issue ultimately gets polarised between to competing propaganda views.

That being said drones are here to say and I support there use, they have proven fantastic in reconnaissance roles being and are proving to be very effective weapons, I am a little put off by their use as assassination platforms but that’s more to do with fiscal conservatism then ethics after all using a $100,000 (at least I think they cost that much) hellfire missile to kill one guy seems a bit excessive and expensive to me, but ohwell

Hi Los, good to see you again.

Just thinking, how do we know that the military takes such precautions before using drones?

It's not a military program, it's a CIA program. The CIA is under stringent congressional and executive oversight nowadays (didn't use to be). I know that just those letters "CIA" brings up all kinds of negative connotations for people because of some past abuses, but it's not that way any more. Basically everything they do has to be approved in multiple steps at multiple levels by civilian oversight.

Drone strikes are a collaborative process with many people signing off on them (or saying "no"). From what I understand, a lot of safeguards are built in to avoid cilivian casualties.

That's what separates us from the terrorists; we try to prevent innocent death while they try to maximize death without a single pang of conscience if they think it might advance their twisted cause. That's what they say themselves, how they glorify and embrace death for Allah and Islam.

I'll need to reply to anything else later since i've gotta go for now.

Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you kill someone, their relatives are going to become your enemy. Has nothing to do with whether they were your enemy before you murdered them.

The headline currently reads that the Pakistanis are infuriated with our election results. What else can we do to infuriate the Pakis? The are also infuriated about cartoonists; writers; Seal Team 6; polio vaccines; drones; Christianity and all other religions; peace and peaceful coexistence; working towards world peace; any other countries' ways of life; the rest of the civilized world's pay scale; anyone refusing to bow to them; knowing their best buds, the Taliban, are nothing but a bunch of cowardly murderers; Malala, the little girl who is trying to get an education; women who are smart and independent; women who actually work right alongside men; gays and gay rights; and these are just the very first things that popped into my head. (Please feel free to add to my list.)

However, I have noted that they are extremely happy and dance in the streets when something bad happens in another country; little children are murdered and/hanged by their friends, the Taliban; starving children who are set up to take the fall for burning paper so they can stay warm or eat; when someone of note dies or is murdered; they are ecstatic when they can burn a flag or hang someone in effigy. Shall I continue?(Again, feel free to add.)

I say we infuriate them a little more and actually help others, communicate, show tolerance, and be happy. What better way to make an enemy?

It's not just the US government. The citizens, myself included, could give 2 sh!ts and a f*ck how many are killed over there after 9/11. They didn't care how many of us they killed, and even in this story the one said he hoped hurricane Sandy would wipe us off the map. Well he can sit there and pray that a miracle happens, we, on the other hand, actually have the technology to wipe them off the map any time we choose. And if it was up to me, it would be done already.

Pretty simple solution... kick out the terrorist living next door. No reason to target your home then. Do you (Pakistanis) think that we like the land mines (call them what they are not IEDs) that are maiming our soldiers? Force the enemy out of hiding and back onto the battlefield. They should not be be allowed to be soldiers when they feel like it... you are in danger from them too... just wait until they turn on you.

Funny, because I remember people like him dancing in the streets when news broke of the 9/11 attacks. So in essence what he is saying is that islam has the right to kill Americans just because they Amercian, but America should not defend itself. This guy has been completely brainwashed into believing a storm could "wipe away" an entire country. Now I know I am about to be insulted and threatened for not taking this guy's side but honestly I can feel no pity for an idiot.

Talk to the Hand, you would stick up for terrorists over your own President? You make me f*cking sick and should be ashamed. If that's your attitude, get the f*ck out of my country, you little pissant.

Look at the picture again and read the headline. "Victims" not the terrorists themselves. No I don't like terrorists at all and if you think these people harbor them of their own free will you are sadly mistaken. I am as American and respect the office of the President just as much as the next guy.

I used to hear that crap from Republicans trying to censor the anti-war left when Bush was president. We've really come full circle though.

Not all things Taliban are bad. When I see or hear Nancy Pelosi,Feinstein or Waters I think, " I wonder how the Taliban would handle these lovelies". They were not to be seen on National TV,campaigning for Obama. Wonder why?

This must be what the Repugs kept referring to when they claimed that Obama had hurt our standing in the "world".....? Now compare the reactions in Europe!

Over 4 years ago when romney was campaigning against mccain, obama in a campaign speech said the terrorist are in pakistan and we need to go in after them. Romney said, oh no pakistan is our ally, we can't go there. If at that time a lowly senator knew where they were, then why didnt the president? So this is why the pakistanis hates obama and wanted romney to win.

Baldeagle, please provide a translator for your little story?

Over 4 years ago, GWB was pres, not McCain, Romney nor Obama and of all of the people you brought up, Romney was the only one that is still a businessman and not in a national office of any kind.

"A lowly senator", really, our US senator and reps have people to brief them in regularly on status of security matters, they damn well better know where we stand, it is what we pay them to do.

Also, at one point in time, the Afghans were considered an Allies as well but time has changed that too.

"Obama authorized nearly 300 drone strikes in Pakistan during his first four years in office, more than six times the number during the administration of George W. Bush, according to the New America Foundation policy institute."

That's because Bush said we couldn't do it and when Obama suggested drone strikes on Pakistan during the 2008 Dem. Primary Debates, Bush disparaged him as "naive" if he thought it was possible. But someone in the Bush White House eventually woke up and decided they better start doing it so they wouldn't look incompetent in case Obama got elected and actually started killing al-Qaeda leaders by doing it.

                                          The_Mick,

At that time (2008) the technology for MQs (Armed Drones) was like attempting to compare a 2008 Cellular Telephone to a current 2012 iPhone or Smart phone. Especially pertaining to accuracy.

Same with the RQs (Reconnaissance Drones) the Mega Pixels of 2008 versus 2012.
