Israelis, Palestinians tense as violence escalates along Gaza border

More than 200 missiles were fired at Israel Thursday; Israel, in turn, launched about 200 missiles against Palestinian targets. NBC's Martin Fletcher reports.

Updated 12:55 a.m. ET:  Israeli troops were moving toward the Gaza Strip border, heightening Palestinian fears about a possible ground invasion, NBC News' Martin Fletcher reported late Thursday.

Some 30,000 reservists were also ordered to report for duty by the Israel's defense minister as the region's military showdown lurched closer to all-out war.

"There is a great sense of anxiety and tension in the air here," NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin reported from Tel Aviv. "People are very much worried about the ongoing operation. There's no doubt from the perspective of the Palestinians this could possibly escalate even further."

There will be momentary peace, however, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said military would stop offensive action in Gaza during a three-hour Friday visit by Hesham Kandil, Egypt's prime minister. An Israeli official said Netanyahu was acting on an Egyptian request, Reuters reported.

Kandil's visit would be an unprecedented display of solidarity with Hamas militants embroiled in a new escalation of conflict with Israel.

In another sign of the growing fear of danger in Gaza, many humanitarian aid workers have evacuated, NBC News reported.

In the latest air strikes, three people were killed when a missile hit their car in the northern Gaza Strip. The Israeli military also said it had carried out aerial attacks and had destroyed 70 unmanned missile launch sites. Eighteen Palestinians have been killed and 100 injured in Gaza since Wednesday, Reuters reported.

In Gaza, fear of a ground invasion has sent shock waves through the region. Coming days could prove dangerous. NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin has more.

Earlier, three Israeli civilians were killed and six injured on Thursday as rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, including a long-range missile that struck a suburb eight miles south of Tel Aviv.

The long-range missile, which landed in an open area outside Rishon Lezion, causing no injuries or damage, was thought to be the first of its kind launched from Gaza. Air raid sirens were later sounded in Tel Aviv, at about 6.30 p.m. local time (11:30 a.m. ET), NBC News reported.

The Tel Aviv metropolitan area has more than 3 million people, more than 40 percent of Israel's population.

"This escalation will exact a price that the other side will have to pay," Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in a television broadcast shortly after the strike.

Israel's ambassador to the U.S., Michael Oren, did not rule out a ground operation in Gaza in an interview with NBC's Andrea Mitchell on Thursday.

"Nobody wants a ground operation, and we are going to try to avoid that," Oren said, "But, again, we're going to have to take all necessary means to defend our citizens against this flagrant aggression. "

The funeral was held Thursday for Ahmed Jabari, the senior Hamas military commander, who was one of those killed in the Israeli Defense Force airstrikes.

The IDF said on its website that the three people killed were civilians in the southern Israeli town of Kiryat Malachi.

It added that 43 of the rockets from Gaza had been intercepted by its defense systems, and that it had targeted 156 "terror sites" in Gaza since the start of what it called "Operation Pillar of Defense."

"In the past 24 hours, 245 rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel," it said.

Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal on Thursday condemned the killing of Jabari.

"Men and women in Palestine, we will continue the resistance," Meshaal said at a meeting of Islamic leaders in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting late on Wednesday to discuss the Israeli assault. It called for a halt to the violence, but took no action.

Analysis: Israel, Gaza slide closer to war neither side wants

The Palestinian Authority renewed its call Thursday for the Security Council to stop attacks. (Hamas controls Gaza, not the Palestinian Authority.)

Egypt officially requested on Thursday a full meeting of the Security Council to discuss what it described as Israeli aggression, and withdrew its ambassador from Israel.

Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi said in a televised address to the nation Thursday that Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip were "unacceptable" and would lead to instability in the region.

Morsi said he had discussed "ways to reach calm and end the aggression" in a telephone conversation with U.S. President Barack Obama.

Hamas is affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood which now controls Egypt, Israel's most powerful Arab neighbor and a crucial partner in the 1979 peace treaty that stands between fragile stability and regional chaos. The Muslim Brotherhood on Thursday called for all ties with Israel to be severed.

Hamas has been emboldened by the Islamist rise to power in Egypt, viewing Morsi as a "safety net" who will not permit a second Israeli thrashing of Gaza, home to 1.7 million Palestinians.

Expecting days or more of fighting, Israel warned Hamas that all its men were in its sights and dropped leaflets in Gaza telling residents to keep their distance from militants and Hamas facilities.

"The leaflets stress that Hamas is dragging the region toward violence, and that the IDF is prepared to defend the residents of the State of Israel until quiet is restored to the region," the military said in a statement.

Israel also warned its own citizens to stay off the streets.

Israel kills Hamas military chief, 7 others in airstrike, officials say

The United States condemned Hamas, shunned by the West as an obstacle to peace, for its refusal to renounce violence and recognize Israel.

The U.S. State Department on Thursday called for a de-escalation of the violence in the Middle East and placed the onus for that violence squarely on Hamas.

"There's one clear way to mitigate the tensions,” spokesperson Mark Toner said. “That is for Hamas to stop its rocket attacks on Israel so we can de-escalate the situation and end the violence. That's the clearest path."

Israel says it has already destroyed much of Gaza's longer-range rocket stockpiles. Reuters reported that Hamas had claimed it had fired a 1.1 ton, Iranian-made Fajr 5 rocket at Tel Aviv, but there was no reported impact in the Israeli city.

Few in the Palestinian territory's largest urban area, Gaza City, came out following the call for dawn prayers on Thursday, and the only vehicles plying the streets were ambulances and media cars.

About 400 angry mourners braved the streets, however, to bury Jabari, whose body was draped in the green flag of the Islamic militant Hamas movement. Some fired guns in the air and chanted, "God is Great, the revenge is coming."

When the body was brought into a mosque for funeral prayers, some tried to touch or kiss it. Others cried. BBC producer Paul Danahar posted pictures of the scene outside the mosque on Twitter.

President Barack Obama also spoke to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as Morsi on the telephone late Wednesday.

A White House spokesman said Obama reiterated to both leaders the United States' support for Israel's right to self-defense, and agreed with Morsi on the importance of working to de-escalate the situation.

Except israel continually keeps stealing land that doesn't belong to them. The muslims have not attacked first yet in this war. Not a single time and you can read the history and watch the videos in chronological order. It's time Israel paid for the war crimes it has committed.

What part of the Palestinian charter which calls for "the destruction of Israel and the annihilation of the Jewish people," do you not understand. Hamas and Hezbollah will continue to bomb and fire rockets at Israel whenever they can get away with it. They need no excuse. Talk to people who live in Israel. There is only more or less rockets being fired. When did they stop?

Here is a hint for you people who cannot manage to open a history book. The Muslim religion dates back 600 AD but the history of Jewish people in the land of present day Israel dates back to 3,000 to 4,000 BC. The present city of Jerusalem was started when King David conquered a small village and built the city. Arabs only came into possession of it when they helped the Romans expell the Jews around 70 AD. The land has a history of one side conquering the other. To say this is Palestinian land show a frightful ignorance of known history.

It's carefully hidden in the caption for one of the pictures of the destruction caused by missiles fired from Gaza. "The incident came after Hamas' top military commander and others were killed in a series of airstrikes". So now you know who instigated this latest round of violence.

Hamas, please remember the words of the Mahatma Ghandi "first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they attack you, then you win". Non-violence is slower than violence, but that last step happens every time, & the results last longer.

@Tbow: ...I'm with you on this one! Except, I think we should stop sending any aid to Israel and all the other whacko religious fanatic Mid East countries for ever.

...You are also correct when you state that the real estate involved does not belong to Israel. ...Israel is a phoney country set up by Jews for Jews with the only payment for the real estate given in hot lead. ...Imagine if they created a condo project in Florida the same way, with the same form of payment!

Israel was a nation and a people going back before Babylon. The land they occupy is smaller than at the pinnacle of their history. So the have less than before and the Palestinians are rejects from several countries who were kicked out of Syria as malcontents and attempted to gain national recognition. I do not dispute their right to exist like they do the Israeli's. However they are used as a proxy by the surrounding nations who want the total eradication of the Jewish / Israeli race. They all claim to be descendants of Abraham and so you are witnessing a family fight that was predicted thousands of years ago.

Question: If 245 rockets were fired into the United States from Mexico would you want a military response?

The progressive apologists for the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas seem to think Israel is the aggressor. They have learned over the years overwhelming response is the only defense against a people who plot their very destruction and want to commit genocide against the Israeli's. I just wonder how tolerant the progressives would actually be given their hateful and antisemitic comments if they were the target of this kind of daily murder for no reason?

By the way tell me a people that has experianced the level of hatred and genocide over the generations like the Jews / Israeli's? If you had that in your history would you respond as they do to protect themselves and their nation?

Isreal has killed 4,378 palestinians since this armed war began in 1999. The muslims have killed, wait for it...216 Israelis. The muslims were attacked first, and they have never initiated a preemptive strike, only retaliation for attacks initialized by Israel. Hamas wasn't even in charge of this one, yet they starve and they take the blame while israel steals land that doesn't belong to it and blocks all food and water caravans. It's criminal what Israel does and has become.

If you want perspective you have to go back thousands of years since both nations claim Abraham as their father. Hamas is not actually a people but a group of Arabs that became a stench even to Syria so they booted them out and have used them as a proxy to poke Israel for years.

But, yes, it's past time for the Palestinians to take a lesson from Ghandi & the Rev Dr King & turn to non-violence.

Take your blinders off and put down the joint. Hamas has been sending thousands of rockets into Israel. When we kill one of their leaders they threaten retaliation. How is that different from any other day. I would agree with you 100% but the attacks on Israelis happen daily. The news media only covers a story when Israel retaliates. Wake UP.

Glad to see you can look up statistics............

Here is one fact that lead to all of those statistics:

The firing of one round from any kind of weapon by the military of one country into another country is an act of war......

LEROY: Here is part of your answer why they continue to fire rockets.

From a tactical viewpoint....let's take your 800 projectile figure. That is 800 acts of war. Piss poor results, too.

Damage assessment: 3 civilians KIA, and property damage. Unless, of course, the objective is to get Isreal to strike back.

What makes it even more insane is Isreal's capability to fire one missile and take out a Hamas leader....and I'm sure all the other victims in the car were in your "innocent civilian" catagory.

Shut up and pay attention. The Palastinians are only a willing lackey for the greater powers of the region.

Besides, this kind of crap keeps the focus off of the sponsors....Iran and Syria.

Hope you did notice where the article said the rockets came from. Right? I would even bet the crews firing the rockets came from Iran....just like in the old days when Arab countries had Russian SAM missile sights manned by Russians.

                              #61.6 - Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:01 PM EST

I hope you noticed the part of the story that said the Hamas attack was response and retaliation for Israel's earlier attacks.

I certainly agree that any act of violence or aggression is wrong on both sides. But Israel does MUCH more damage and kills scores more innocent civilians than Hamas, yet Hamas is portrayed as this great evil and Israel gets a pass EVERY TIME. Most of it is based on our media and government, and the propaganda they put out.

And based on your view of whoever attacks first is the aggressor, let's go back to the Six Day War, Israel fired first. They've been fighting over this land for quite some time, but the Six Day War is what escalated the current day crisis over there.

Your attempt to blame Iran is ridiculous and baseless, and shows the propaganda has you well conditioned. Yes, they fired Iranian missiles that were out of date. Even if Iran sold them they weapons, that doesn't make them any more responsible than our government for funding and arming the Mujahideen during Operation Cyclone (which later became groups like Al Qaeda and Haqqanni Network), or the funding and arming of Saddam Hussein when he was in power.

The truth is Iran has NEVER attacked another country first since the '79 Revolution.

People need to stand on their own two feet and are responsible for their own actions. If someone burns a Koran it's not an excuse to kill others. If your really a veteran you understand to the victors go the spoils. Peace is a spoil of war. If people refuse to live in peace then take them out.

                                        #62.4 - Thu Nov 15, 2012 11:53 AM EST

The people that do those things in the name of art are in the same class as you.

Only difference between them and you is motivation,,,,you are motivated by immaturity, and hate.

Lemmings jump off the cliff because the one in front of them does....because someone else does something, don't make it right.

As a veteran I understand only that I served in defense country and buddies...you civilians watch too many movies...victor, spoils, peace as a result of war......

I hope someday you and everyone else grow up and realize war only breeds losers, dead people and more war.

                                          Carrier

Yes I did, and it also has so many different kinds of stamps on it from around the World.
I have never seen so many Stamps on one envelope in my life, so who is it from and what are they want ?

                                          Chairman

It appears that they are following up on an idea that originated from a Film Script Writer in America who came up with an Idea of writing a short Film Script he Calls "Children Seeking World Peace" The writer posted it on line and some of the Country Leaders around the World liked the idea so that they implemented it.

                                          Carrier

                                          Implement what ?

                                          Chairman

Every Country in the World picked two Young Students from one of their schools a boy and a girl to represent their Country and are asking for a "SPECIAL UNITED NATION'S MEETING" that will be attended by all of the Leaders in the World but this is the Catch.

The adults are not to speak at this meeting, only the Children will be allowed to speak at this Special meeting called"CHILDREN SEEKING WORLD PEACE"

                                          Carrier

Wow, I see what you mean when you said an unusual request and that is comes from an unusual source you were right about that.

                                          Chairman

There's more this request gets even more stranger they are requesting that we install a large garden area next to the United Nation Building before this meeting takes place that we don't plant anything in the garden area just leave it bare dirt, there are to be small signs placed every two feet next to the rows in this garden area with the names of each Country in the World next to each one of these signs there will also be a watering can containing water.

                                          Carrier

Do you think that the Board will consider this bizarr & unusual request ?

                                          Chairman

Yes I do after all these are the Children of the World, the next Generation seeking the opportunity for them to be part of the Peace Process from their Generation and we should give them the opportunity to do so.

                                          Scene Two;

We see the inside of the United Nations building where many young children are standing paired off one boy and one girl facing all of the Adult Leaders from around the World these Children are from all walks of life all different nationalities and all dressed differently.

Every Girl is holding a small pot containing a different flower in it in one hand and a small shovel in their other hand.

Each Boy is holding a small pot containing a different kind of plant in one hand and a small shovel in his other hand.

(all of these flowers and plants are beautiful and very colorful)

Every Boy & Girl from their Country are wearing Name tags with their Countries names on the tags. The Children are just standing there in silence.

The inside of this building is silent at first then we hear whispers coming from the Adult Leaders, what is this all about, what do they want, this is strange.

Next we see a girl step forward from the row of children following behind her is another girl and a boy they are all three standing there for a minute and the room gets silent.

                                          Then the boy speaks,

I have been chosen to speak on behalf of all of the Children in this room. We are standing here before all of you representing the Worlds Next Generation, Your Worlds Next Generation. We only have a few words to say to all of you here today.

All of us had several things that we wanted to say to all of you today but we all decided that words are not enough without all of Our WORLD LEADERS making a Solid Commitment to end all Wars in Our World Today ! ! !

So, we only have three words to say to all of you here today... " PLEASE JUST STOP"

(one of the girls standing next to this young boy translates this message in all languages)

The three young children stand there for a minute in silence then one of the two girls step forward she says, we only have one more request to ask from all of you in this building today, please follow us to the garden area located just outside this building.

(the other girl translates this request in all languages)

The other children in the building follow the three children exiting the building followed by the Adults.

                                          Third Scene;

We see all of the children lined up still holding their flowers and plants in one hand and their shovels in their other hand they are paired off one boy and one girl standing along side of the garden rows facing their Countries signs that are placed in two foot sections of their Special Garden.

(we see all of the Adult Leaders standing around this garden in groups whispering to each other we can't make out what they are saying to each other but they have a confused look on their faces)

Next the same Girl that spoke earlier in the building is holding a flower in one hand and a small shovel in her other hand says, I would like all of the Adult Leaders from their Countries to stand in front of their Countries signs facing each of us. (translated by the girl standing next to this girl)

The Adult Leaders line up in front of their Countries garden signs facing these children then every child bends down at the same time and digs a small hole in the ground in their two foot section of this Special Garden. (each two foot garden section now has two small holes dug in them and everyone is silent)

Next we see the same girl that spoke earlier stand up after digging her hole in the garden she hands her Adult Counter Part Leader her Potted Flower and says, each one of these Flowers that all of us has brought here today Represent WORLD PEACE for Our Future.

                                          she continues..

All of the Children Around the World requested this SPECIAL UNITED NATIONS MEETING to beg all of the Leaders of Our world to help us Plant our Flowers here today to end all Wars in our World Immediately and all of the Plants that the Boys brought here today represent Commitment To Do So.
(translated again by the girl standing next to her)

Next we see the Boy that spoke earlier at the meeting hand his Adult Counter Part his potted plant then the Girl that is speaking looks over at all of the other Children that are still standing next to their garden and she nodes her head.

Then, All of the Children say the words together, in their own languages in a loud & begging tone."PLEASE JUST STOP"

Next, We see all of the Children reach in their pockets, pull out a small bag and pour out a few of seeds into each of their Adult Counter Parts hands.

                                          The Girl speaker then says,

we are giving all of you our seeds to take home with you so you can plant them in your gardens as a reminder of your Commitment all of you made here today to; END ALL WARS In Our World IMMEDIATELY..THESE SEEDS ALSO REPRESENT FORGIVENESS for without forgiveness there can be no PEACE, so please pass these seeds on to your transgressor so the Peace Process can begin. (translated by the girl standing next to her)

                                          Last Scene

We see all of the Adult Leaders bent down next to the Children planting the Children's Flowers & Plants together in their"Special World Peace Garden" Located in Front Of the "UNITED NATIONS BUILDING"

"ROAD TO PEACE" (film short story)

Opening Scene: (filmed in black & white, silent film)
We see an old Soldier walking down a dirt road with a machine gun under his arm
and carrying his young son on his shoulders.
The young boy and his father are dressed in their combat clothing and the boy
also has a machine gun gun tucked under his arm, suddenly they stop.
(our camera pans to a person sitting on a large rock on the side of the road)
We see the back of this person only, the person is wearing a black hooded robe
                                          with their hood raised up.
(we pan back to the old soldier and his son)
The old soldier places his son on the road then pushes him in the direction
                                          of the hooded stranger.
The young boy walks cautiously up to the stranger with his gun drawn
upwards as he gets closer we notice the person is small in stature then the boy
                                          points
the gun at the back of the strangers head.
The stranger turns around slowly then we see it is a young girl, the girl
is the same age as the boy.
The young girl places a daisy in the barrel of the boy's gun.
(at that instant our film changes to color and remains in color)
Next, we see they young boy standing there with a blank look on his face he
then drops the gun on the ground, the gun vanishes and where the gun was we see
                                          three books there instead.
The boy picks up the books curiously, then turns and looks in the direction
where his father was with an astonishment look.
(we show a close-up on boys face then we pan our camera to the father)
The boy's father is now standing there dressed in a white shirt and slacks and
holding sets of plans tucked under his arm in the place of a gun.
(we pan back to boy and girl)
We see the boy standing there dressed in the same attire as his father, with
three books tucked under his arm in place of his gun staring at the girl that
is still sitting on the rock, the girl has long curly brown hair and is now
wearing white clothing, she also has three books sitting next to her.
                                          Closing Scene:
We see the backs of all three of them walking down the road towards the setting
sun, the boy and the girl are holding hands both of them carrying three books
                                          tucked under their arms.
The father has three sets of building plans tucked under his arm and is walking
                                          with his head up high..

Fade Out End...Or Beginning Of A Brighter Badly Needed Future For Our World.

We here in the west (US, UK, France, Germany, etc.) tend to treat the Israeli-Palestinian issue like it was some local election... like we were intimately familiar with all the particulars. But the truth is really quite apparent that most people base their opinions on what they read on the web... which says a lot by itself.

Iran has invested billions in a long term propaganda campaign to create dissent in the west on this very subject. So, rather than follow the sermon we often like to preach about NOT getting involved in other people's affairs, we jump headlong into the traffic here and bicker and snap and sizzle...

Truth: Israel and the Palestinians have been doing this sort of thing for a long, long time. Even back before there was an Israel, this sort of family feud was already well established. But here in the 21st century, we have the web and millions upon millions of digital scholars and desk'perts... all being led by the nose and all proclaiming the ee-villity of one side or the other.

In one sense, it's a bit amusing but in another, it can be troubling to realize just how utterly incapable we have become at reasoning.

Israel needs to protect herself. America not backing her up anymore and is in the process of destroying herself at the moment. Israel has to do what it takes to survive even if it means all out war. Why do we care anyways we are so busy throwing our top Generals under the bus for normal human behaviour. Ask Bill Clinton the president who set the new standards. Bush cant be blamed for that.

The article was carefully written so you wouldn't notice the caption under one of the pictures. Its says "The incident came after Hamas' top military commander and others were killed in a series of airstrikes" (emphasis mine). Got it?

It does not take a West Point graduate to realize the political result and inevitable out come of the middle east uprising. As long as Obama shirks responsibility and lays policy off to the U N, the strife will continue until the ultimate happens, that being Israel bombing Iran. Then folks, the United States will be drawn into the whole mess whether the winds are blowing with Islam or not. There can be no republic or democracy when theocracy is the law of the land. The fuse is lit and getting closer to the dynamite all the time.

Now they can get back to selling Military weapons to every nation, Arming Muslim countries for the WARS Obama knows is coming. Our future no different in this country as Obama again tells everyone for his political gain of election deceptions, WE have won the war against our enemies. He gets one blood trophy and we won the war. This country never wins wars, they just join so their Investments into military weapons grow. Now that this election is over, watch the wars that get started, never did end with Obama and his culvert lies and deceptions to gain the people trust. Well you can't trust a liar, a theft is a theft, his treason is an open door when they decide to open it and he has one agenda, conform or die. Considerable mention of the 3 Israelis killed, & 6 injured on Thursday. Several paragraphs worth, with the number of palestinians injured & killed since Wednesday barely getting a passing mention. Plenty of pictures of the suffering of the Israeli civilians, but they let it slip in one of the captions which says "The incident came after Hamas' top military commander and others were killed in a series of airstrikes". So who started the latest round of violence?

Let's turn this around. Suppose the Israeli military killed the U.S. Secretary of Defense, along with 3 American children & a pregnant woman. Would you support a presidential decision to launch missiles at Tel Aviv? If not, why not?

The progressive apologists for the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas seem to think Israel is the aggressor. They have learned over the years overwhelming response is the only defense against a people who plot their very destruction and want to commit genocide against the Israeli's. I just wonder how tolerant the progressives would actually be given their hateful and antisemitic comments if they were the target of this kind of daily murder for no reason?

By the way tell me a people that has experianced the level of hatred and genocide over the generations like the Jews / Israeli's? If you had that in your history would you respond as they do to protect themselves and their nation?

                                                                        Reply#74 - Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:18 PM EST

This is the reason you can't understand Israel or Palestine. The only way to lasting peace is for Hamas to stand down and stop being used as a proxy for Iran, Syria, and all the other Arab nations who think Israel should be wiped off the map. Israel as a nation existed before the Babylonian empire and possessed more land than they control now. If your history as a people was one who experienced near genocide many times in history would you develop an over aggressive offense as a defense? Might that knowledge be important to consider if you were to attempt to attack them as a nation? Does it even register with you that both Arabs and Israeli's claim to be descendants from the same father...Abraham? Does this dynamic influence their animosity and distrust toward each other.

You suffer from the fallacy of the assumed premise...your paradigm predicts your behavior and lack of analysis.

I wish Israel would go in with utmost prejudice - not play nice, fair or humanitarian - and wipe them out. I wish they would cut the electric - and I wish that every mortar that is shot at Israel - is responded to with overwhelming force! Blow up the entire block that the mortar originated from - those are my hopes! No country and government that cares about its citizens would tolerate such atrocities.

Terror should be handled in the following manner. When a poison strikes the human body, the only way to address it, is to remove it and destroy it completely.

It is a known fact that any country if attacked, its citizens kidnapped, rocket bombardment on a daily basis.

Has the right and obligation to defend its citizens.

It is sad that innocent civilians are hurt, but that is the cost of war and conflict.

Any government and its citizen who do not resist terrorism and let terrorist organization entrench themselves in their country and utilize those countries as bases of armed terrorism against a neighboring country. Eventually pays the price for permitting such actions.

If you gave the Arab population a vote in Israel and the west bank and Jerusalem the option to vote freely and without intimidation, you would find out, that they would rather be living under Israel’s government. They derive more stability more benefits, pensions, welfare, etc.

If the United States or any other government were to be attacked from across the border on a daily basis, have its citizens kidnapped, rockets launched at them on a daily basis, the citizens would demand that immediate military action be initiated with no holds barred, collateral damage or not. That is the fact of life.

Terrorist and those who support them do not know what peace is, they thrive on violence. That is the only way they control the masses. Any negotiations or compromise only strengthen those terrorist organizations. When a poison strikes the human body, the only way to address it, is to remove it and destroy it completely.

There is no such thing as a “disproportioned response to terror.”

Our problem today is “Israel’s Disproportionate Restraint.”

This puts Israel and its citizens in grave danger.

                                                                                YJ Draiman

When a poison strikes the human body, the only way to address it, is to remove it and destroy it completely.

That is the way the terrorist organizations should be treated.

“Like all sovereign nations, Israel has not only a right, but moreover, an obligation, to ensure the safety and security of her citizens”.

As quoted in a statement “the only time of a chance for peace is, when the Arab mother would love her children more than she hates the Israelis.

The big mistake is that people are missing the economic benefits for Israel and its neighbors. That is if there was a true peace, you take the Israeli Technology and know how, add to it the Arab labor and natural resources – and you have an economic prosperity beyond your widest dreams.

Nothing will change, nothing can change until the Palestinian people recognize this reality; their greatest enemy is not Israel. The greatest threat to the Palestinian people is, and always has been, their own leaders.

And Israel cannot negotiate with Hamas, anymore than Chamberlain could negotiate with Herr Hitler.

The Qur'an 17:104 - states the land belongs to the Jewish people

Every time there is a terrorist act, Israel should vacate an Arab village and raze it.

Any Arab rioting and or throwing stones at Israelis and violating Israeli laws – should be deported and his home destroyed.

There never was a Palestinian Arab State and there will never be an Arab Palestinian State on Jewish land - Anyone who thinks that there is going to be one is delusional.

The Phoenicians traded throughout the Mediterranean thousands of years ago, & are mentioned by the Egyptians as far back as Ramses II. Their colony at Carthage dominated centuries of Roman history. Their traders had much to do with sparking the invention of science in Ionia. The Greeks adopted their alphabet. You're reading it now.

The Hebrews (Israelis) have a long standing claim to the land there, but so do the Phoenicians (Palestinians).

To the victor the spoils! Such is war.. but, this is not war... this is police action. Like it or not the Israeli presence is the dominant factor in the region. They fought for it and they won it, and now they are politically astute enough to keep it. Militarily and Politically. The only thing keeping Israel from pushing the Palestinian populace of the Gaza strip into the ocean and feeding them to the sharks is world opinion. The Israelis are like a nasty little pit bull that the United States uses as a deterrent to keep Arab countries in the region pacified enough for us and our European cousins supplied with oil. A very heavily armed well trained gang of Jews. In this world of indiscriminate civilian bombings, government complicity and the clucking tongues of the citizens of the United States of America. Who really cares? Israel has only too invade, disarm, and pacify a very small region, Like New Jersey cleaning up Newark.

                                                                                    Get it over with.

Tell me, when was the last time the Palestinian army or Palestinian tanks rolled into Israel?

You also seem to have some sort of weird amnesia of history or an aversion to anything that Israel may have possibly done to incite such "strange" behavior from the Arabs.

Just for the record, would you like to offer any comment as to why the Palestinians might be a little upset with Israel or what would motivate them to fire Bottle Rockets at Israel?

                                                                                      ...

That's what analysis and real scholars actually do, right? They like to see what's actually happening or to think about things from different perspectives, right?
