Updated at 2:45 p.m. ET Sunday: During the seven days that 15-year-old Chloe Rodriguez, of southern France, was held captive, she memorized details – her kidnapper, his car, its license plate -- but she did not try to defy the man's orders for fear of being killed, metrofrance.com reported.
Chloe was found in Germany, tied up in the trunk of a car Friday afternoon after police stopped her kidnapper during a routine traffic stop, RTL.fr reported. She had disappeared the week before, on Nov. 9, after leaving her home by scooter to go to a friend’s house.
Her scooter was found six miles away with her all belongings except for her helmet.
Chloe was hospitalized Friday after being found. Her parents told reporters that she is doing well, but that she has cried a lot, according to RTL, and that she was physically exhausted.
The kidnapper, described as a 32-year-old man from the Gard region in southern France where Chloe lives with her family, was detained at a German jail in Offenbourg.
According to local news reports, the man had been released from jail in September after being convicted in May 2009 of physically and sexually assaulting six women. Those women had been, like Chloe, traveling alone on the streets of their rural community, either by foot or bicycle.
Jean-François Corral, the suspected kidnapper's lawyer said, according to midilibre.fr, that he had undergone the recommended psychiatry in prison. But he did not check in with his probation officer after his release.
He explained how his client assaulted the six previous women: He would force the victims into his car and show them pornographic images while caressing them.
“Each time that a woman would fight him, he would go away,” Corral said, according to midilibre.fr. “But he never went to the end.”
Violette Rodriguez told reporters Friday that she was elated by the news. “Today is too beautiful. There will be two birthdays for my little Chloe,” she said in French.
She added: “This man who did her so much harm -- there is justice, and justice will be rendered. But I thank him anyway, because he kept her alive.”
Chloe returned home by TGV -- France's rapid train system -- Saturday after spending the night in Germany at the police station. In the car ride home from the station, her mother, Violette Rodriguez, covered her teen daughter with a blanket to protect her. They were escorted down a small rural road by a police motorcade.
Her father, Jesus Rodriguez, told reporters that his daughter told him that she never contradicted her captor and that she had come to understand his triggers, according to lexpress.fr.
"She told us that she was able to have a dialogue with this man, and that she obeyed all his orders," Jesus Rodriguez told reporters outside their home.
Cheers erupted in the village where the family lives. Residents were relieved after a week of combing the back roads and the many abandoned stone houses that make the region seem so picturesque and innocent.

This is a really unpleasant topic, so forgive me for being graphic. I have been attacked by would-be rapists, but they were semi-drunk college students and I got away after hitting one in the throat and kicking the other in the family jewels, so I know a little. You know that not all rapists are the same. For a certain type of repeat rapist, the truly sick-minded predator, I know some of you are suggesting castration, but unfortunately it won't work. There are two kinds of castration -- chemical and physical. The chemical kind has been tried in the US. The first thing these guys do is get hormone treatments (you can buy almost anything if you try hard enough.) They have every intention of returning to their favorite crime ASAP. As to the physical castration 'solution' I seem to recall somewhere a case or two where either the guy had been castrated by accident, or by a vengeful person, or had actually requested the operation so he could get out of prison. In any event what psychiatrists will tell you is that if a rapist can't do what he used to do, the urge doesn't go away as it isn't really hormone- fueled. He will use objects, and may even escalate to knives, swords and various other methods of mutilation and murder to get 'satisfaction'. It's creating a monster, or bringing the monster back meaner and nastier than ever.
So, she was tied up, in a van.... and thats ilegal? I mean, is there something wrong with that?

OK I may be a hick from the stick but this is really WRONG. Do you think that any man will let this happen to there daughter or even there grand daughter?? What about the victom?? Sociaty has so lax on murderers rapest thieves. It is time to get back our sociaty. If you catch these perps in the act PUT THEM OUT of there and our missure. The French have an interesting justice system. Per the story, this man served just over 3 years for physically and sexually assaulting six women?!?!? If I were a pedophile or a sexual predator I would move there immediately! It must be like a Disneyland for perverts with sentences like that. They will probably give him 6 months in jail on this round if the story is correct. Wow. Crazy...
I'm happy that Chloe has been found safe. But I'm also wondering why this has been reported in the United States. Don't we have enough problems to report on, without importing news, such as this, from Europe?
I understand why this crime would be news in this French girl's town or parish/county or maybe in France, but what I don't understand is why is it news in the USA? Not being satisfied with reporting every crime against persons in Teakettle, USA, is the 24 hour news cycle now going to cause crimes anywhere to be reported in our media?

This young lady was strong, she managed to survive, and it seems just a bit of luck came along in finding her. My prayer is she stays strong, gets the counselling she is going to need, that it works, and her life isn't forever marred by this crime.
Psychiatrists are as much good as putting hubcaps on a John Deere, absolutely useless. The justice system would be better served locking these animals up in an isolated prison on an island near the equator. There, they will become the best of friends. Air drop a few supplies now and then and leave them to their own devices. Position guard ships 75 miles off shore and call it good. Maybe toss in a liberal for them to feed on occasionally, something special, like, say someone from the Washington DC area?
Nothing surprises me. Like child killings, workplace killings, and terrorist attacks, you'll continue to read more stories like this. The world is crazy and the justice system is slow and antiquated. Defense lawyers are smart and they tend to find loopholes in a system that protect criminals more often than not. Oh well...I'm glad she's okay!
I'd say this lucky girl has an angel looking out for her! So lucky that this car trunk was checked. I need to talk to my grandaughter about the ugliness in this world and how to stay safe, like staying with other friends when walking or riding. It's a real shame young ladies have to live in fear because of the sick freaks out there.
Here's a thought, before ANY sexual pervert is allowed to be released on society, he MUST spend one year living with the Judge that sentenced him, free to roam the house, eat with them, no chains or handcuffs. If the Judge releases him and he repeats his crimes, then lock them BOTH in the same cell for at least 5 years. I bet the recidence rate would fall like a gillotine, and the sentences would tripple or more.

His luck may just have run out. By stupidly committing rape in Germany instead of in France, he will hopefully be tried and sentenced until the much harsher German rape laws. Not only does Germany impose longer sentences for rape, it is also one of the only countries that still practices judicial orchiectomy - surgical castration. Enjoy.
I hope once they castrate him they keep him. Research shows castrating rapists makes them more violent and likely to kill their victims. Which is why most countries don't do it.
Actually, from what I understand, the evidence suggests that chemical castration can lead to greater violence and have a very high rate of reoffence. German evidence suggests that the physical kind does the trick - only a 3% reoffence rate. They've done it to over a hundred rapists.
You are delusional if you believe that. Rape is not a crime based on sex but rather on power and dominance. Once castrated the rapist needs to find another way to overpower and dominate his victim, which often leads to killing them. The only way to stop a serial rapist is to remove him from society forever. If that means euthanasia then that is what should be done. Read the research in our country. Which has proven this. Unfortunately people get too queasy about putting true predators to death. The criminals always have more rights than the potential victims.
It is a story like this that makes me wonder why Euro's are so soft on this type of crime. The amazingly short sentences for violence, rape, paedophilia, etc is why they continue to have these incidents of recidivism. Wouldnt the Better thing for society be to just eliminate these type of people right off the bat?

I am at a loss here. The sub-human physically and sexually attacks six women in 2009 and is out just three years later. Is that part of the "Progressive" movement in Europe. I am glad she is home safe though.

Some people remain unbelievably stupid until the day they die.
Why? Because the woman is so thankful she has a daughter still? That she gets to hug her daughter tonight and tuck her into bed? That one day she will see her daughter go to college, get married, give her a grandchild? You are right... some people are unbelieveably stupid, but it is not this mother. She is just unbelievably relieved. Walk a mile in her shoes. Or actually, I hope no one ever has to, but I'm sure someone will.
he's already received his psychological help for the first 6 times he's done this. time to put a bullet in his head and get rid of the trash. Only morons would keep this guy (and others like him) around thinking they can change them. Save the money and time and stop the cycle.
