As leaders negotiate Gaza truce, civilians caught in crossfire

A three-story building in Gaza was flattened by an overnight Israeli airstrike that was targeted at a Hamas militant. NBC's Richard Engel reports.

Updated at 8:43 p.m. ET: As Israel entered its fifth day of airstrikes on Gaza, a missile targeted at a top militant flattened a three-story building, killing 10 members of a family.

The attack, which came as Middle East leaders attempted to negotiate a ceasefire, triggered fear that Israel could launch a ground offensive and lead to war.

Twelve people died in the overnight attack, including four children and four women. At least 75 Palestinians have died so far in this nearly week-long conflict. More than 600 have been injured.

In Israel, where half the country is now within reach of rockets, three people have been killed. Dozens have been injured.

More than a hundred rocket attacks were launched from Gaza, triggering more panic and fear in Israel's commercial capital where sirens were last heard during the Gulf War. NBC's Martin Fletcher reports.

In Tel-Aviv, the country’s commercial capital, sirens sounded for the first time since the Gulf War. Targeted attacks Sunday on the trendy city were shot down, the Christian Science Monitor reported.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama said he fully supported Israel's right to defend itself and called for an end to the firing of missiles into Israel by militants inside Gaza in order for a peace process to go ahead.

"If this can be accomplished without a ramping up of military activity in Gaza, that is preferable," Obama said during a visit to Myanmar. "That's not just preferable for the people of Gaza, it's also preferable for Israelis because if Israeli troops are in Gaza they're much more at risk of incurring fatalities or being wounded."

The conflict between the two sides ratcheted up after Israel launched an air strike Wednesday that killed Ahmed al-Jabari, Hamas’s top military leader. Hamas, deemed a terrorist organization by the U.S. and Israel, won parliament seats in Gaza in 2006 and took control of the area in 2007.

Israel's declared goal is to deplete Gaza arsenals and press Hamas into stopping cross-border rocket fire that has plagued Israeli border towns for years.

After Jabari was killed, the Israel Defense Forces posted a video of the airstrike on YouTube. Then they tweeted: “We recommend that no Hamas operatives, whether low level or senior leaders, show their faces above ground in the days ahead.”

In Cairo, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi worked behind the scenes to broker a truce. He said "there are some indications that there is a possibility of a ceasefire soon, but we do not yet have firm guarantees.''

Egypt has mediated previous ceasefire deals between Israel and Hamas, the latest of which unraveled with recent violence.

Ammar Awad / Reuters

Two sides exchange deadly airstrikes, rocket attacks.

In Jerusalem, an Israeli official declined to comment on the negotiations. Military commanders said Israel was prepared to fight on to achieve a goal of halting rocket fire from Gaza, which has plagued Israeli towns since late 2000, when failed peace talks led to the outbreak of a Palestinian uprising.

Diplomats at the United Nations said Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is expected to visit Israel and Egypt in the coming week to push for an end to the fighting.

The conflict speaks to a much broader question of whether Israel should cede land so that Palestine may become a state. The U.N., European Union and Russia agree there should be separate states, with Gaza being included in the Palestinian state.

In May 2011, President Barack Obama also agreed: “We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.”

That would leave Israel with just nine miles at its narrowest, however, which its leaders say would be difficult to protect.

Ground offensive
Israel was prepared to substantially broaden its operation in the Gaza strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday as military planes continued to bomb targets in Gaza City.

"The Israel Defense Forces have attacked more than 1,000 terror targets in the Gaza Strip," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting. "We are exacting a heavy price from Hamas and the terrorist organizations and the Israel Defense Forces are prepared for a significant expansion of the operation."

He gave no specifics and made no mention of the possibility of a ground offensive.

But Israeli cabinet ministers decided on Friday to more than double the current reserve troop quota set for the Gaza offensive to 75,000 and around 16,000 reservists have already been called up.

Asked by reporters whether a ground operation was possible, Maj.-Gen. Tal Russo, commander of the Israeli forces on the Gaza frontier, said: "Definitely.''

“We have a plan. ... It will take time. We need to have patience. It won't be a day or two,'' he added.

A possible move into the densely populated Gaza Strip and the risk of major casualties it brings would be a significant gamble for Netanyahu, favored to win a January election.

The last Gaza war, a three-week Israeli blitz and invasion over the New Year of 2008-09, killed 1,400 Palestinians, mostly civilians. Thirteen Israelis died in the conflict.

'Huge bang'
At least two rockets fired from Gaza toward Tel Aviv, Israel's commercial capital, were shot down Sunday by Israel's Iron Dome air shield, witnesses and officials said.

NBC's Paul Goldman saw at least one missile being intercepted by Israel's anti-rocket defense system over the center of the city.

"I was taking cover and heard a huge bang," Goldman said. "(I) looked up and saw the explosion in the air above me. I could smell the fire."

Israel's strikes were causing widespread damage, Mohyeldin reported from Gaza. "These strikes are portrayed as precision strikes, but they are anything but that given how densely populated the area is," he said.

Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

These attacks followed a defiant statement by Hamas military spokesman Abu Ubaida, who told a news conference: "This round of confrontation will not be the last against the Zionist enemy and it is only the beginning.''

Does this sound like they want a truce???

Hamas started it. Let Israel finish it. Soon.

Haven't noticed anything coming out of Qatar regarding all of this. Is this what his $400 million bought less than a month ago??? Wasn't it supposed to be an investment for building roads and homes and businesses???

Your only getting the news from a controlled press. You have no idea who started it. Just like the Egypt, Isreal war. Now people know the truth. Now you all can go ahead and blast me. But only because you know I'am right. The news isn't always right.

Israel started this round of fighting by murdering a senior Hamas leader when there was a cease fire in place. Israel always creates an incident whenever there is a danger of progress toward peace. Zionism is racism. Where else do you support non-secular states?

indegena, for days previous to the strike on Jabari, Gaza lobbed some 200 - 300 rockets at Israeli settlements. I know this, because I live here. Is that what you mean by a 'ceasefire'?

Israel started this round of fighting by murdering a senior Hamas leader when there was a cease fire in place.

Isreal attacked in response to hundreds of rockets being fired from Gaza into Isreal. Hamas violated any cease fire that may have been in place long before Isreal's response.

Obviously Israel has to defend itself. However I have a different question.

By all accounts Hamas really did start this "war" first. Why now? What for? They know they can't possibly win on their own. Is it because Iran is nuclear capable? There has to be some reason. All I can find from all news outlets including English-muslim overseas press is that Palestine was tired of the things Israel was saying about the Palestinians ( I am not joking, it sounds like a little kid) . Does anyone have any different information.

Also, has anyone seen the pics circulating of supposed Palestinian wounded being carried through hospital doors and then the wounded get up and walk out perfectly fine after the photo op? ( yes, I know there are real wounded too) This whole things seems "planned"

All I know is Hamas has been firing rockets on civilians in Israel for years, and it's time someone put a stop to it.

Someone sent me this video from Youtube of the Israeli IRON DOME intercepting about a dozen Hamas rockets over an Israeli town.

THIS IS SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

h t t p : / / www . youtube . com / watch?v=9VlJRU-tXbo

.

.

This is just what some person in Israel caught on their camera while they were standing in the street.

But you can clearly see about a dozen interceptors fired at incoming rockets and you can hear the explosions. It's crazy! You can hear a girl that was standing next to him totally freaking out.

Just imagine what would've happened to them (and to MANY other people in that town/neighborhood) if all those rockets would have landed near them, instead of being intercepted by that anti-missile system.

The only reason there are not more casualties on the Israeli side, is that all the people in Israel know they have to seek shelter if they hear a siren. Or in the case of these young people in this video, they were lucky to be protected by Iron Dome.

"If there is quiet in the South and no rockets and missiles are fired at Israel's citizens nor terrorist attacks engineered from the Gaza Strip, we will not attack," Israeli Vice Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon said over Twitter.

So Hamas continues to launch rockets and missiles...so WHO is continuing this? HAMAS!!

When are they going to realize that their rockets are destroyed by the iron dome and rendered useless? They are only hurting their own! Stop the madness!!!

Any negotiations for or from Hamas, or the Islamic brotherhood are analogous to requests from the control tower for Mohammad Atta to safely land the plane.

Gaza is a strip of land bereft of life and culture. Oh wait, they do have a culture... of hate and intolerance. It's un-Islamic to enjoy a weekend with dance, a beer, music etc.. It's much better to march in the street, waiving arms and firing guns into the air, burning effigies, and shouting "ALLAHUAKBAR!", or "DEATH TO THIS" and "DEATH TO THAT". Anybody who'd say "let's make peace with our neighbor" would be killed halal-style as an apostate.

Hamas is similar to the Taliban becasue they share the same low common denominator of exterminating neighboring cultures. It's mandated in their Koran with clear examples in the Hadith of how to do it. Judging by how the Taliban destroyed the Bamiyan Buddhist culture in Afghanistan, one can see that Hamas has a religious duty to make the state of Israel extinct. But they won't stop there.

The "plight" of the Palestinians is not due to Israel. It's due to the land rich and resource rich Islamic brethren pushing the Palestinians into Israel. One would think listening to Muslims that they have no where to live and that the giant state of Israel is pushing them out of their lands. But I look at a map and see an entirely different story.

I was walking my dog the other day and a Muslim father pulled his daughter away with a gesture of contempt and a whisper of "haram" in her ear. I realized that the mentality of contempt for the unbeliever is spreading as intended.

This is only the beginning of the REAL wars: The wars about clean WATER.

Stop thinking about all the other fictional reasons about why this conflict is going on.

I feared this article on Israeli water might strive for ‘balance’ but there
are some strong references that indicate that the National Geographic editors
are beginning to question the power equation in Israel. The article, “Parting
the Waters”, [3] is essentially about the Jordan River, that a “ six-year
drought and expanding population conspire to make it a fresh source of conflict
among the Israelis, Palestinians, and Jordanians vying for the river’s life
giving supply.” The article continues that the “lower Jordan is practically
devoid of clean water, bearing instead a toxic brew of saline water and liquid
waste that ranges from raw sewage to agricultural runoff….The fight over the
Jordan illustrates the potential for conflict over water that exists throughout
the world.”

We need to start thinking about our planet, and how we are destroying it, thinking that it can provide for as many people as we wish to place on this planet.

The incursion and bombardment of Gaza is not about destroying Hamas. It is not about stopping rocket fire into Israel, it is not about achieving peace.

The Israeli decision to rain death and destruction on Gaza, to use lethal weapons of the modern battlefield on a largely defenseless civilian population, is the final phase in a decades-long campaign to ethnically-cleanse Palestinians.

Israel uses sophisticated attack jets and naval vessels to bomb densely-crowded refugee camps, schools, apartment blocks, mosques, and slums to attack a population that has no air force, no air defense, no navy, no heavy weapons, no artillery units, no mechanized armor, no command in control, no army… and calls it a war. It is not a war, it is murder.

When Israelis in the occupied territories now claim that they have to defend themselves, they are defending themselves in the sense that any military occupier has to defend itself against the population they are crushing. You can't defend yourself when you're militarily occupying someone else's land. That's not defense. Call it what you like, it's not defense. - Noam Chomsky

Who exactly are they bombing? What does "defeat" mean? Is there a military base? Or an army? Or did they know where everybody lived all along and are just targeting those places? Even if Hamas supposedly had headquarters, are we to believe they are sitting around in these headquarters with no means to defend it knowing that the Israels probably knew about it?

How can you win when you aren't really fighting anyone specific?

You are kidding yourself. Israel had warned Hamas long before these latest attacks to keep their people reigned in, or they would be attacked. You can thank Hamas for this mess. Blaming Israel is not even close to being fair. Israel would never start shelling indiscriminately into Gaza without being provoked, .To say different is just ignorant. That's a good point. Every clash between the Palestinians and Israel is as much a media war as it is a shooting war. The Palestinians always strive to get fake photos into the news media in the hope of ginning up international support for their "plight". Of course, that is not to say all the photos are fake, but many of them are. I saw a web site once that had fake Palestinian photos on it from another war along with an explanation for why they were fake. Unfortunately, I can remember the URL of that site.

Know your history. The State of Israel was not created because of the Holocaust but was planned well in advance, in 1897, at the First Zionist Congress in Basel Switzerland, to create a "Jewish State". I don't understand how people do not see that as a racist ideology in 2012, and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians can be no surprise as they are only interested in having the Palestinians be a "Commonwealth of Israel".

1880 - Laurence Oliphant publishes The land of Gilead, with excursions in the Lebanon which proposes a settlement under British protection while respecting Ottoman sovereignty. He proposes that the 'warlike' Bedouins be driven out, and the Palestinians be placed in reservations like the native Indians of America.

1897- The First Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland, urges "a publicly and legally assured home in Palestine" for Jews and establishes the World Zionist Organization.

Just curious... how much money CAIR is sending to HAMAS to continue the bloodshed...

  • “Let there be no doubt that CAIR is a terrorist supporting front organization that is partially funded by terrorists, and that CAIR wishes nothing more than the implementation of Sharia law in America.”
  • CAIR is an “organization founded by Hamas supporters which seeks to overthrow Constitutional government in the United States and replace it with an Islamist theocracy using our own Constitution as protection.”
  • “ACAIR reminds our readers that CAIR was started by Hamas members and is supported by terrorist supporting individuals, groups and countries.”
  • “Why oppose CAIR? CAIR has proven links to, and was founded by, Islamic terrorists. CAIR is not in the United States to promote the civil rights of Muslims. CAIR is here to make radical Islam the dominant religion in the United States and convert our country into an Islamic theocracy along the lines of Iran. In addition, CAIR has managed, through the adroit manipulation of the popular media, to present itself as the ‘moderate’ face of Islam in the United States. CAIR succeeded to the point that the majority of its members are not aware that CAIR actively supports terrorists and terrorist supporting groups and nations. In addition, CAIR receives direct funding from Islamic terrorists supporting countries.”
  • “CAIR is a fundamentalist organization dedicated to the overthrow of the United States Constitution and the installation of an Islamic theocracy in America.”

Senior CAIR employee Randall Todd Royer, a/k/a “Ismail” Royer, pled guilty and was sentenced to twenty years in prison for participating in a network of militant jihadists centered in Northern Virginia. He admitted to aiding and abetting three persons who sought training in a terrorist camp in Pakistan for the purpose of waging jihad against American troops in Afghanistan.
Royer’s illegal actions occurred while he was employed with CAIR

CAIR's Director of Community Relations, Bassem Khafagi, was arrested by the United States due to his ties with a terror-financing front group. Khafagi pled guilty to charges of visa and bank fraud, and agreed to be deported to Egypt.
Khafagi’s illegal actions occurred while he was employed by CAIR.

On December 18, 2002, Ghassan Elashi, a founder of the Holy Land Foundation, and a brother-in-law of Musa Abu Marzook, was arrested by the United States and charged with, among other things,
making false statements on export declarations, dealing in the property of a designated terrorist organization, conspiracy and money laundering.

Ghassan Elashi committed his crimes while working at CAIR, and was found Guilty.

CAIR Board Member Imam Siraj Wahaij, an un-indicted co-conspirator in the first World Trade Center bombing, has called for replacing the American government with an Islamic caliphate, and warned that America will crumble unless it accepts Islam.

sandmantruth,

"The State of Israel was not created because of the Holocaust but was planned well in advance, in 1897, at the First Zionist Congress in Basel Switzerland, to create a "Jewish State"."

Yes, that is true. The Zionist cause goes back long before the actual foundation of the state of Israel. The holocaust was just the cataclysmic event that gave Zionism its impetus toward realization. But don't forget, the holocaust was only the culmination of a long history of persecution of the Jews. For example, in the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church forced Jews to live in ghettos and wear yellow patches to identify them as Jews. That may be where Hitler got his idea for concentration camps and forcing people to wear colored badges to identify them. It was that historic persecution that led to the idea of Zionism to begin with. They figured that since no one wanted them in Europe, the only solution was to return to their original homeland. Zionism is more about religion than it is about race. The Jews are not really a race to begin with. Most Jews are white. There are also black Jews (such as the Falasha of Ethiopia) and oriental Jews.

Naval shelling of such a densely populated area is bound to inflict an lot of civilian casualties.

Israel is waging a parallel propaganda war. Destroying the broadcast media in Gaza will minimise the graphic scenes of civilian casualties.

Mickey,

I know about the long history of persecution but two wrongs don't make a right. The main equivalence I can draw here is to the persecuted settlers in England coming to the US, and then wiping out the Native Americans. What did the Native Americans have to do with the fact the settlers were persecuted by England? What did the Palestinians have to do with the fact Jews were persecuted in Europe and Russia? It seems the persecuted always run from their persecutors and then become persecutors of a weaker people.

I do know about black Jews but they even face discrimination in Israel. 80% of Jews worldwide are Ashkenazi Jews.

They got the idea for the Abbassid caliphate who came up with it in the 9th century, as part of the "Dhimmi" restrictions placed un those unwilling to submit to Islam.

According to Bernard Lewis, Christians and Jews were forced to wear special emblems on their clothes. The yellow badge was first introduced by a caliph in Baghdad in the 9th century, and spread to the West in medieval times.

What a lot of people are missing is that "Palestine" is about to join the UN and have "observer status". This does not make those in power in Israel happy at all. They have had full control over the Palestinians for 60 years now, and the imminent vote giving them status at the UN is in direct conflict with the Iron Wall Ideology of the hard liner Israeli Government.

What has also started this escalation in fighting is the fact that the IDF killed a 13 yr old Palestinian boy who was playing soccer near the border. Israel has denied this fact, and also refused to investigate it or reprimand the soldier who shot the boy. The same day a mildy disabled Palestinian was also shot near the border, and Israeli forces refused this man aid for 6 hours and when they finally let medics attend to him he died.

This is what is the "triggering" factors in this escalation in fighting. Now, the IOF is bombarding the Gaza Strip which is a virtual "open air concentration camp", and the people are blockaded into this 3 mile wide strip of land, with no where safe to go and are not allowed to leave because of the blockade. Bombing a refugee/concentration camp where the refugees are FORCED to stay, IS a WAR CRIME in itself. The "last campaign" caused Israel many War Crime charges in itself, because they killed over 1400 people which were mostly civilians and many were children. They also BOMBED the UN School where women and children were hiding. Israel DID repay millions to the UN for this outrageous act in itself.

Stop protecting Israel from its Iron Wall Hard Right Liners Apartheid treatment of the Palestinians. These people are the most terrorized and inhumanely treated people on this planet.

if it was just Hamas, then there could be some end in sight; there are over 10 radical Muslim movements now in the middle east, all being supported by other Muslim country's; I see no end in sight , for 64 years Israel and it's Muslim neighbors have been at war.

@sandman;

Most all nations have been guilty of trangressions of other peoples in and out of their country. The problem is most in the ME have not evolved away from archaeic thinking. Israel has evolved, while their neighbors are stuck in the past. Israel survives because they allow a secular sector of their society to flourish. The new Democracies in the ME are learning this the hard way by electing the wrong leaders.

The ME countries must allow secularism in or they will not flourish. ie They must accept others of a different religion other than Islam, or no religion at all. This sounds good, but actually seeing it happen will be nothing short of a miracle.

They(Islamists) are still living by the live and let die philosophy, not the live and let live philosophy.

Seems they(Islamists) are the ones doing more of the dying. Time to evolve. or continue to fight losing battles.

Israel was prepared to substantially broaden its operation in the Gaza strip, the country's prime minister said on Sunday.

"The Israel Defense Forces have attacked more than 1,000 terror targets in the Gaza Strip," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting. "We are exacting a heavy price from Hamas and the terrorist organizations and the Israel Defence Forces are prepared for a significant expansion of the operation."

For those of you sitting here talking about how Israel has no choice but to continue on, continue on what, massively killing civilians, this is not "collateral" damage, this is outright civilian murder. Most of you war-mongers who have NEVER served a day in anyone's Military, but you sit here, as an "arm-chair-warrior," thinking you're holier than anyone else on earth really need to get a clue. Do you have ANY idea what would have happened if Netanyahu's selection of Romney would have won the Presidential election? You probably do, but like so many things republicans are in denial of, the outcome of the Romney election is one of them. Just like you believed all the lies Romney laid out on his campaign trail, you would continue to believe all the lies he, and Netanyahu would tell you about the doom and gloom of Israel, thereby forcing Romney to subject America's "financially POOR boys/girls" to another war that the more privileged do not fight, i.e., the 1%ers

This man, Netanyahu, is hell-bent on a World War, and as I have written before about the prophet from the Middle East, "A Nation Shall Rise and All Shall Perish," the vast majority of you firmly believe it's going to be one of those dark-skinned Muslims who will start a World War, when in all reality, it looks to be a white-skinned Jew.

The Palestinians are probably saying the same as you. The fact is violence begets violence. The issue with Zionism is that it sought to remove Palestinians to create a Jewish State; it had no intensions of working with them to live in the same state.

Some early quotes from the founder of Israel to prove my point:

"We must expel Arabs and take their places."
- David Ben Gurion

"There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?"
- David Ben Gurion

"Jewish villages were built in the place of Arab villages. You do not even know the names of these Arab villages, and I do not blame you because geography books no longer exist. Not only do the books not exist, the Arab villages are not there either. Nahlal arose in the place of Mahlul; Kibbutz Gvat in the place of Jibta; Kibbutz Sarid in the place of Huneifis; and Kefar Yehushua in the place of Tal al-Shuman. There is not a single place built in this country that did not have a former Arab population."

"Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves ... politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves... The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country."
-- David Ben Gurion

"We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. Allon repeated his question, What is to be done with the Palestinian population?' Ben-Gurion waved his hand in a gesture which said 'Drive them out!"
-- Yitzhak Rabin

I agree with some of the posters that it is important to look at history with regards to the Israeli/Palestinian countries. To side with Israel over Palestinian is a mistake...We as Americans should know better. Any country that feels they are being oppressed will resort to what Hamas is doing...I do not support the methods of Hamas...however, I understand why they are doing it.

As Americans, our founding fathers fought with their lives for America's independence, we got tired of the tyrannical abuse of England. I am sure the English thought Americans were not only rebels, but also terrorist. We killed them...until we won our American Independence. The Palestinians want to be recognize as a state in their own right....Israelis do not want to recognize their right to be an independent state. Ironically, the Israelis also fought hard to become an Jewish state. All countries want to be sovereign....that is their right...why deny it?

We are talking about land people....Israelis should allow their neighbors to live independently...and not only the control of another country in this case Israel...and their big $$$ funding-brother....the United States. I believe killing on both sides is wrong!!!! Wouldn't you fight your neighbor if your neighbor was hogging your backyard and making it their home after you have been living their for many years???? Most of us would....we have the right to protect to fight when we are being oppressed. Many countries have done it including our own good USA!!!! I hope and pray this conflict is over soon...but history has it...it won't!!

How old are these comments? Like 65 70 yrs old? This goes right to my point of evolving away from archaeic thinking. America had slaves for example, we figured out after much spilt blood that this is not the way. The U.K owned half the world and drew back.lol Why? Because they knew colonialism of a weaker people was wrong. Their thinking evolved from colonialism.

Islamist have a goal of the world to be 100% Islam. They must evolve from this or continue to saty stuck in the past. The MBH have this as one of their stated goals. What does Egypt do, puts one in charge, now they are rioting over his actions, Too late wait til next elections to evolve Egypt.

Any reasonable person can see why the Palistinians would feel that a partition giving Jews 53% of the territory was unfair.

Hello folks,

YNET reported a few hours ago that Netanyahu gave private assurances to US President Obama that Israel is not planning a ground operation in Gaza yet.

"According to two American officials who were briefed on the phone conversation between Netanyahu and Obama, the PM said Israel would not consider a full-scale ground invasion of Gaza unless there was escalation from Hamas or an attack that caused significant casualties."

The verdict is clear, PM Netanyahu tries to avoid his predecessors' mistakes. But can he? The Zionist faction of Israel want to see blood, they are desperate for a victory, they want to see Gaza and the Hamas wiped out.

Interestingly enough, Israel and Netanyahu's paralysis is the natural and inevitable outcome of the Zionist's not the Jewish people's collective obsession with power. They can kill, they can destroy, they can deliver misery to the entire region but for some reason they never prevail.

By the time they win the battle they are shocked to find out that they've lost the war.

A prominent Rabbi? What sort of rabbi would be in support of killing thousands of civilians? What sort of Rabbi is for militaristic intervention? What religion is in support of violence? Why do you claim Muslims are violent and then say statements like this that do not get as much attention in the West? They should put comments like this on the news, in newspapers. You don't hear any Sheikhs saying a fingernail loss of an Arab is not worth the lives of a thousand Israelis. How many of you are actually Jewish, anyway? True Orthodox? Why do you confuse the religion and the regional conflict?

So keep away from Syria and Iran.

Remove sanctions on Iranian oil to weaken the seventh century bigoted Sunnis. It is better to make their battles even.

See the double games being played by that seventh century bigoted Qatari desert dancing ruler. Sunni Saudis, Qataris are main criminals in Syria.

Also removing sanctions on Iranian oil will reduce our economic hardships.

Syria and Iran are not our business. We come in the picture to take care of the remaining winner!

Isreal attacked in response to hundreds of rockets being fired from Gaza into Isreal. Hamas violated any cease fire that may have been in place long before Isreal's response.

This is not a war between two countries. It's a fantasy to think otherwise. There is not country called Palestine. Israel can and does roll into Gaza with tanks any time they want. It is de facto Israeli territory. Whether intentionally or accidentally the rockets were supposedly in response to a 12 year old by being killed during one of these incursions.

All this really doesn't matter. Israel presides over 3+ million poor non-citizens within their borders. They appear to want to maintain this situation. It's a given people living under these condition are not just going to lie down.

In my view it isn't a US problem and we shouldn't be involved except for the fact we give Israel billions every year. We should just cut off money on all sides and let them deal with it.

He coined the phrase "Never Again"

He recommended taking the Arabs head on: "If one is coming for you...kill him first"

and encourage the rest to move to ther homeland that was created for them: Jordan

Then: hardly anyone knew what he was talking about...a crazy etc.

Now: we know he was correct.

He was murdered after giving a lecture in the USA by an Arab terrorist operating on American soil.

No I do not believe they are. I think made my point clear on this. The Israelis want peace just as others. Hamas does not want peace, nor to accept or recognize Israel. The West bank reunited with Hamas to their detriment. Not even a year after they reunited Hamas went against their own laws in the west bank and executed an "Israeli sympathiser" without the due process the PLO called for.

They can not even follow their own rules.

The Arabs are considered to be "less then dirt", in the minds and ideology of the hardliners in Government.

I would not say the majority of Isaelis feel this way. The problem lies herein that the "Arabs" will not accept others that are not of their religion or their culture and live in peace side by side. When this changes then they will be more accepted.

Do you not see the secular flourishing and the Orthodox religous being ostracized, both Jewish, and Islamic? The Israelis are even tired of the Orthodox, whom also stir up trouble as Hamas. They both do this to keep themselves relevant. People are tired of it.

The one that will win, is the one armed by the USA. Hamas doesn't have anyone arming them. They get a few weapons from whatever source they can find and smuggle them in. The rockets are still primitive, without any form of guidance, much like what we fire off on the 4th of July, only a little bigger.

There will be no fight, only a slaughter, much like the last time, where Israel killed 1400 people, mostly women and children. The IDF will blow up houses with tank fire, never caring who might be in the houses, which is why there is a high civilian casualty rate. They don't have the courage or the humanity to go door to door using soldiers, as the US did in Iraq.

This is the Zionist mentality, which Netanyahu embaces.

here as slaves."

Chairman Heilbrun of the Committee for the Re-election of
General Shlomo Lahat, the mayor of Tel Aviv, October 1983.

Except ONE country that increasingly allows 1.9 percent of its citizens (sic) to constantly rain down missiles of greed on the other 98.1 percent of its citizens without mercy. The lies of the media, the filth of entertainment business, the fraudulent schemes of the mortgage, banking and financial market industries, the manipulation of our political system, the missiles keep on coming, hitting home after home, wiping them out

Our valiant citizens in the military suffer pain and death to serve us . . . err except the missile slingergroup whose valiant citizen representation is, by far, the lowest of any citizen population group in the country.

Allah is not a name. It is just the Arabic word for "God

No, it's not.

It ( the mistake) comes from the common miss translation of "allah u Akbar" which is 'allah is greater.

Not god is great.

Ilāh is Arabic for god.

The Arabic word for God or Deity can be found here

ʾIlāh (Arabic: إله‎; plural: آلهةʾālihah) is an Arabic term meaning "deity" or "god". The feminine is ʾilāhah (إلاهة, meaning "goddess");

It's proper usage can be found here in the Sahadah, the Islamic profession of faith.

šahādah (the Muslim confession of faith) is, "there is no ʾilāh but al-Lāh",that is, translated, "there is no deity except for Allah" or "there is no god except for the [one] god".

there is no ("ilah"= god) but 'allah'

Ilah, is the Arabic word for god, and kibar is the word for great.

"Ilah u Kebir" is Arabic for god is great.

Not 'allah-u akbar' ......that translates as 'allah' is greater

In the Quran itself these two words (Ilah and allah) are used. 'allah', is said to be the author of the Quran, are you claiming 'allah' is unaware of it's name?

Quran 37;35

Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum lailaha illaAllahu yastakbiroona

the Arabic word used here in the Quran for God is ilah (I highlighted it) the proper name of this Islamic concept of god is, "allah".

For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride

http://www.islamawakened.com/Quran/37/35/default.htm

and akbar does not mean great.

kibar-great

The Great History (Arabic: ; al-Tārīkh al-Kabīr) is a book by ninth-century Islamic scholar Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari in the field of biographical evaluation.[1]

it's not the al-Akbar ( the Greater) history, it's the "Kabir" history (Great history)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_History

One of the many names used by "allah",is "the great" which is naturally, "Al- kabir" and not Akbar.

Al-Kabir ("the Great") is also one of the 99 names of God in Islam.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabir

The allah name, makes it one hundred.

The only people who want dead Palestinian civilians are Hamas. That strengthens their terrorist case. They hide among them, they parade the dead and wounded, some of which are just acting. These Hamas terrorist operations build support among the Islamist factions in the Middle East.

The real issues are Iran and Egypt. We know Iran has been supporting Hamas. Hamas has been emboldened with the prospect of Egypt's support. Morsi will likely support Hamas as the Brotherhood created Hamas, and Morsi is merely a puppet of al Shatar the true leader of the MB and now Egypt.

Yeah because in all this time Israel couldn't have just taken the land in one fell swoop and not had to worry about rocket attacks all these years. Your logic is retarded. If it was a land grab they'd already own it. You also conveniently leave out the fact that the Arab countries expelled most of the Jews living in them so those Jews moved to Israel, which by that time was a recognized country and a member of the United Nations.

This is not a one sided issue, and to attempt to make it so just makes anything you say bullsh*t.

Kallie, I read today in a National Geographic Magazine that some of the gaza rockets firings are from the tunnel areas because they know that the Isreali's will track where the rockets came from. The reason that they are fired from this area is because each tunnel owner gets paid for commodity going through his tunnel and if his neighbors tunnel gets blown up... too bad... more business for him! How's that for "brotherly love??" It's in this months Nat Geo Mag. Nice read.

Israel's strikes were indeed causing widespread damage, NBC News' Ayman Mohyeldin said from Gaza.

"These strikes are portrayed as precision strikes, but they are anything but that given how densely populated the area is," he said.

Forty-eight Palestinians, about half of them civilians

That equates to 1,000 strikes and 24 civilian deaths, I would call that pretty darn precise. War isn't pretty, but one really needs to give Isreal praise for the limited death from these retaliatory strikes. This is exceptional considering Hamas uses populated areas for its sites for both the storage and for the firing of missiles.

    THANK YOU! for saying that.

We people in Israel really appreciate when someone can see the truth. Nobody here wants death but enough is enough already. The South has been fired upon for over ten years. I live in Ashkelon and we have been getting missiles off and on since early spring 2008. Thousands and thousands of them. I remember the first one like it was yesterday b/c I grabbed my daughter out of her crib and dragged 4 children down the stairs as a huge BOOM sounded over our house. Look - it's not the worst thing ever, but it's no picnic either. I can no longer even give you an estimate for how many times I have had to lie down on the floor of my house with my kids under me.

We have been very patient but it has to stop. Who else would live like this and not complain? Our military takes great pains, putting their own lives in danger, to save Palestinian civilians. They even go as far as warning people by phone and leaflets in Gaza before they attack. And yet the international community is always crying genocide. After 1000 strikes, 25 civilians have been killed, including 13 children. This is sad to us, believe me, but did you know nearly 50 children died yesterday in one bus crash in Egypt? 30,000 Syrians have been murdered by their govt so far? Over 160+ Syrians have died every single day since August and there has been nothing from the left protestors, no outrage, no mention. We defend ourselves and there is international condemnation. These deaths in Gaza are sad but you must keep it in perspective. Israel has a 100% better record in saving civilian lives than any other country including the US.

I always want to think the best of people but one is left with no other feeling than there is a HUGE GAP in the standards the world has for Israel and everyone else. We kill a known terrorist Jabari in a surgical strike - a man responsible for the planning of the deaths of 100s of Israelis - and the protests begin. Obama kills many terrorists in Irag, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Pakistan and this is to be celebrated or atleast not mentioned in the negative. Israel receives 12,000+ missiles and is expected not to retaliate in any way. Turkey received a few stray missiles recently from Syria and went in a bombed the border without a single peep from anyone.

I am tired of the double standard... thank you again for seeing that the IDF and people of Israel really are trying to preserve life in an area of the world were many people assign it very little value.

Hamas knows that Israel is determined to continue to take out its strategic targets needed to carry out terrorist activities. Egypt now says there are hints of a truce. The truth is Hamas realizes the times have changed and now Israel is ready to stop at nothing to end the attacks which have continued for years and it's days are numbered.

With Israel's abilities to do precious targeting, thereby eliminating higher counts of civilian causalities, the threat of negative reactions around the world from such losses are far reduced. That tactical plan will no longer work and the gig is up. Hamas are sitting ducks. With the United States backing Israel and Egypt knowing it doesn't want to go against us either, the game plan is changing. Hamas have also shown their lack of ability to actually be able to hit the side of a barn in retaliation at Tel Aviv. Looks like Hamas are getting desperate.

I live in Ashkelon and we have been getting missiles off and on since early spring 2008. Thousands and thousands of them.

and how many casualties did you have there since spring 2008? yet your army killed 24 civilians in few hours.

if you guys believe in these news, its says in this article that 1400 civilians were killed by Israel IN 3 WEEKS on 2008-09 New Year while ONLY 13 Israelis died. DO YOU SEE THE NUMBERS AND YOU STILL THINK YOU ARE THE VICTIM HERE AND SHOW THAT YOU CARE ABOUT THOSE POOR PEOPLE.

Hamas will never abide by a truce. I hope the Israeli government learned this lesson from the last time it happened, and that it takes appropriate steps to go in and finish the job this time. Israel yanked its citizens from Gaza, and this is the thanks we get for that. Why do people think that things would be any different in the West Bank?

Are Gaza houses built to a standard to make them safe - or do Gazan houses fall like a pack of cards because of poor/cheap construction practices? Did Gaza put any of its money into infrastructure for the safety of its citizens, or did it spend all its money on attempts to kill Israelis?

@Leslie-2501509: I appreciate your position and wish your family a safe future. On the other hand, do you know your beloved country is going to re-elect Netanyahu, the man who publicly declared that Lebanon doesn't exist on his map? Do you know what radical settlers are being allowed to do on the West Bank? Watch this video You will witness Israeli radicals with greater hate for Muslims than the Nazis had for Jews. You will see live footage of young Palestinians gunned down with machine guns for throwing small rocks at aggressors, in plain view of Israeli soldiers. Do you really fail to see how these types of actions could insight a military response from your enemy?

Maybe you and your people should use your voting power to replace your most radical president in the last two decades instead of RE-electing him. Maybe you should exercise some true strength by putting those radical settlers on your borders in check. Why have you refused to negotiate towards the creation of a Palestinian state? It looks to me that it's much easier and more beneficial for your country to use it's military superiority to just do whatever it wants. This is not honorable and I do not salute you for "defending" yourselves. It's easy to kill when you are on top. It's much more difficult to willingly make unforced sacrifices in the name of peace. With your history your people should understand the necessity of those in power to look beyond what they "can" do and realize would they "should" do instead.

The crazy muslims are staging protests around the world over 51 deaths in Gazawood, of which half are terrorists! Here are some of their statements:

    Egypt

"I cannot as an Egyptian, an Arab and a Muslim just sit back and watch the massacres in Gaza," said protesterAbdel Aziz Nagy, 25, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

    Stockholm

The demonstrators, set fire to an Israeli flag painted with a swastika. "We don't see any reaction from the rest of the world while there is a massacre going on"

    London

Israeli flag was burned in the crowd, while other placards read "Stop the Holocaust in Gaza" and "End the siege on Gaza".

    Vancouver

"We want this violence and this massacre to stop now"

Meanwhile, in Syria the estimated death toll of defenceless children is 2,300. It's not a contest. If we all play along with this propaganda which ony exacerbates the violence, then we all just belong in mental institutions!

What do the Zionists want? How much of the Palestinians homeland will make the Israel Zionists recognize Palestine? Didn't we build a monument honoring the dead of the Holocaust with words similar to, So that it shall never happen again?" And yet it is and has been happening. The Zionists are doing to the Palestinians what was done to the Jews by the Nazis. Where does it stop? Palestinian homes taken away from them, their precious olive trees hundreds of years old destroyed, Palestinian and Jewish children taught to hate, killed by bombs. Netanyahu is loving it. It is he who will destroy Israel. He wants war as he hides in his enclave with his funder, Adelson, counting on profits from war. Zionists are not peace loving, they are bred for killing, not for peace.

You are worried about Netanyahu???? Use that 3rd eye and SEE!!!!

Let's remind everyone what Hamas sees as their motive for attacking Israel, as expressed in Hamas’s own Charter.

Article 7 of the Hamas Charter reads:

    http://www.memri.org/report/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/1609.htm
"The hour of judgment shall not come until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them, so that the Jews hide behind trees and stones, and each tree and stone will say: 'Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him,' except for the Gharqad tree, for it is the tree of the Jews."

Article 7 is taken from Hadith Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177.
    and quotes the Prophet Muhammad:

    http://www.hadithcollection.com/sahihbukhari/85/3715-sahih-bukhari-volume-004-book-052-hadith-number-177.html

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

Israel had warned Hamas long before these latest attacks to keep their people reigned in, or they would be attacked.

    ======

Hours before Hamas strongman Ahmed Jabari was assassinated, he received the draft of a permanent truce agreement with Israel, which included mechanisms for maintaining the cease-fire in the case of a flare-up between Israel and the factions in the Gaza Strip. This, according to Israeli peace activist Gershon Baskin, who helped mediate between Israel and Hamas in the deal to release Gilad Shalit and has since then maintained a relationship with Hamas leaders.

Baskin told Haaretz on Thursday that senior officials in Israel knew about his contacts with Hamas and Egyptian intelligence aimed at formulating the permanent truce, but nevertheless approved the assassination.

Amazing... Yes, it even states--EXCEPT for the tree of the Jews. There is still meant to be some level of respect even under a bloody war such as this has cost for too long from the Muslim perspective. And this is actually in reference to Yom il-Kiyama, or the End of the World revelation when it is expected Jesus will return. It is in reference to the Quran giving knowledge to its believers that the last day will be known whenever Muslims have victory over the Israelis. Try not to aimlessly pick out quotes without first understanding what context it is in.

No rockets from Gaza = no international outpouring of financial and military aid for Israel. It is a financial decision pure and simple. No war means no military machine. Both sides need the conflict to justify their existence. Israel would be gone tomorrow without the support provided by the US. Hamas would be gone next week if the US did not give aid to the Palestinians and restrain the Israelis. Pretty simple concept.

I am getting very agitated by people comparing the totals of lost lives to who is the aggressor. The two are quite actually not related at all. Japan stuck Pearl Harbor without warning or provocation and 2400 Americans lost their lives. America retaliated and dropped two bombs on Japan and killed 250,000... a quarter of a million people in less than a week! If you use this equation then America would have been the aggressor in WWII! Duh. Get it now idiots?

Actually Military Historians agree that if we had not bombed Japan, the war would have lasted possibly years longer and therefore more than 250,000 lives would have probably been lost. So bombing Japan actually saved lives.

Hamas has been firing rockets on civilians in Israel for years, and it's time someone put a stop to it.

The only reason there aren't many more casualties on the Israeli side, is that all the people in Israel know they have to seek shelter immediately when they hear a siren. And now with the deployment of their new Iron Dome anti-missile system, they just shoot down most of the rockets Hamas fires into Israel with the intention of killing as many civilians as possible.

In a way I think the Iron Dome is the best example of the stark difference between Hamas and Israel. Hamas spends all their time and resources in order to build rockets that target civilians indiscriminately, while Israel spent all its time and effort to build a system to protect civilians! Not to mention all the efforts they make to target only the terrorists and to try to avoid hurting innocent civilians on the other side.

Hamas on the other hand fire rockets from residential areas, and use Palestinian civilians as human shields in order to deliberately increase the chances of Palestinians civilians getting killed!!! While at the same time targeting innocent Israeli civilians.

Hamas is a sadistic perverted organization and they must be eradicated! They are worse than cannibals!

It's time for Israel to send all those evil Hamas bastards to hell.

    ...

    P.S.:

Someone sent me this link to a video on Youtube which shows the Israeli Iron Dome shooting down about a dozen Hamas rockets over a town in southern Israel.

Yes, you are deeply mistaken. Since 2001 approximately 5 Israeli citizens a year have been killed by rockets from Gaza. In 1900 the jewish population in Palistine was 20,000. In 1947 jews owned 7% of the land in Palistine. . . . . giving Jews 53% of the territory was unfair.

"There's no country on earth that would tolerate missiles raining down on its citizens"

1.9 percent of the population - 33 percent of Harvard students - beats wasting your precious time defending your country.

They're in horrific poverty and rampant unemployment while schools, villages, homes, women and children have been killed by tanks, gunned down and bombed with US aid yet we AMERICANS are screamed at home if we object to this, see OUR SS, MC, MA, VA benefits on the verge of the chopping block as Mitt Romeny went to Israel and praised THEIR "socialized healthcare system as being superior to ours and blamed the Palestinian's situation on their CULTURE".
We would go to war in a nanosecond if some other country marched into the USA and seized US land from OUR people claiming it was THEIRS w/o impunity with financial aid from another country and kept doing it "because say ALLAH told them they were the chosen people and the UNITED STATED was THEIR PROMISED LAND and it was OWED to them so it that made it OK". What do you think the hostage of the wrestling team back in the Munich Olympics and Patty Hearst kidnapping by the PLO was all about? Sorry but I AM SICK of it and refuse to have our country drawn into ANY war of their making with all their bullying and seizing of land that is NOT theirs and never was according to the border agreements they were supposed to have abided by in 1967-68. I learned a lot growing up and doing the reseach on this and we need as Americans to do our duty ourselves and learn how our government as well as them have been fleecing us all these years as well.
Where does OUR loyalty lie? To OUR Constiution or to theirs? I was born in Canada to a Canadian father and an American mother when I took my oath to become an AMERICAN, as Americans you promise to your loyalty to AMERICA so if CANADA were to do such things to America, I certainly wold not be DEFENDING THEM nor would our GOVERNMENT even though we get much of our OIL from Canada, I can assure you that while we NO oil from Israel but give THEM billions anyway to wage continuous war on another country and seize its land from the people that were living there before BB and his gang "moved in".
Let them fund their own genocide for a change. We've got more then enough of "our own to take care of at home, jobs to create instead of corporate firing AMERICANS for political spite, an E. Coast to rebuild after ANOTHER natural disaster, another oil disaster to clean up after and an 11 year long WAR to end for starters that is literally BANKRUPTING us, yet my children's school teachers have been forced to take a THREE YEAR PAY FREEZE because they're told "their salaries, health insurance and LAVISH pensions are costing WI taxpayers TOO much money" which in itself is the biggest pile of crap to those of in WI who know better and understand how that "pay system works" is NOT in of itself "ripping off the state taxpayers but corporations and the wealthy who live here who have been able to avoid paying state taxes for years ARE.
That is another story but then again, always is as usual and that seems to be "just fine" of course. My family will keep paying OURS along with rest of the "little people who are accused of being the TAKERS and getting all this free stuff". Oh well, that TOO is going to change.

    Leslie,

Thanks for your insightful post. Most of America is in full support of Israel. Nearly all of the Christians in the USA are in full support of Israel. There are many who disagree with the policies of your government and there even still remains a few anti semites who dislike Jews based on their own ignorance.

The best point you made is still the bottom line of this entire mess- What nation in the history of the world would tolerate missles being fired upon their civilian populations?

The USA would not tolerate ONE missle being fired at us, let alone thousands! Israel has endured 64 years of attacks by people who hate Jews. We would not tolerate 64 minutes of missle attacks in the US nor 64 hours, or 64 days, and definatley not 64 years worth of attacks from any group of people no matter the size and scope. NO NATION would be expected to tolerate missle attacks, and no nation has, except Israel. It is time for the people who have been calling themselvs "Palestinians" to have their own nation, and that nation needs to be in trans Jordan, or the Saini, or even Iraq, but NEVER in or even near Israel. There are 201 countries in the world with more than 250 languanges and different cultures- the Muslims who are actually Jordanians and Egyptians and not so called "palestinians" are not the only group of people who are demanding their own country, but they are the least deserving. Their goal is not a "two state solution" there only goal is the destruction of Israel. They were offered a two state solution bACK IN 1947 AND TURNED IT DOWN BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT the jews to have their own nation. President Clinton offerd Arrafat everything he asked for and more, but was turned down because a Palestinian State is not, nor has it ever been the goal of the Muslims. Their only goal is the destruction of the jewish state!

Islam is not a peaceful religion but a dangerous cult that needs to rewrite their holy book or needs to be listed as a cult.

Most of America is in full support of Israel.

Speak for yourself! MOST AMERICANS are against giving Israel 3 billion in aid every year, when that money should be used in the US. Most Americans are NOT in favor of the Israel Occupation and Blockade of the Palestinian people. Don't speak for others who are informed about what the TRUE Israel-Palestinian conflict is about. And, most of all DO NOT ACCUSE PEOPLE OF ANTI-ANTISEMITISM simply based on YOUR opinion, because in reality CRITICIZING a government who is killing people IS NOT anti-antisemitism,.

Slinger, you are speaking for yourself, not the majority of Americans. The majority of Americans are indeed in support of Israel - the only country in the Middle East who is democratic and supported American ideals in a region... when doing so has caused them to be at war since their modern existence (I say modern existence because it is ISRAEL who has historical rights to the land - there has never been an INDEPENDENT COUNTRY of Palestine. Ever. Sorry the facts get in the way of your bigotry.)

Lest we not forget that their three neighbors tried to wipe them off the map on the holiest day of the year. And you, being the BIGOT that you are, probably cheered that day. Imagine if Israel decided to, without warning, wipe Gaza off the map during the Palestinian's holiest day of the year? How would you react then? Rather, Israel is actually FORWARNING the Palestinians of a ground assault if they don't stop the rockets. I don't know how a country could bend over backwards more. Yet BIGOTS like you wil never understand.

There are always civilian casualties in war. What do you think Hamas was doing? They were firing missiles into the cities trying to kill ANYONE. But Israel was better at defending and attacking than Hamas. The big difference Israel fights with an army stationed and ready to fight - while Hamas, the cowards they are, fight from within the civilian population, so they are the ones that are guilty of getting their civilians killed, not Israel! Unlike Hamas's boost of unleashing hell, it looks like the tables were turned on them. Will they never learn - are they really that stupid. You can't keep kicking a lion in the azz without it turning on you.

I don't feel sorry for these Palestinians, they started it with their rocket's and didn't care about the lives of the Jewish people. If Americans were getting rockets shot at them by Mexico, you people would not think our Government, Military wouldn't try to protect U.S.? Gaza does not want peace and Egypt are supporting them and why is this Government of ours given aid to the Muslim Brotherhood when in fact Egypt can careless about the peace with Israel. Otherwise Egypt should of kept their big mouths shut of supporting the Palestinians. I say STOP the aid to Egypt now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing stopping the Palestinian people from having a homeland/country is themselves. Israel pulled out ENTIRELY from Gaza. 99.999% out. They even dug up their dead and moved them. The only thing they would not remove/destroy was the Synagogues due to religious reasons. The Muslims destroyed them in not time at all. All the Palestinian people of Gaza had to do was live peacefully in Gaza. No rockets, suicide bombing etc. Just go about the business of creating a country. Building schools, hospitals, housing, farms, infrastructure etc. No spending money on military items only for legitimate police. Setting up a government that gives all of Gaza's people life, liberty, and the ability to pursue happiness. Gaza is 41 kilometres (25 mi) long, and from 6 to 12 kilometres (3.7 to 7.5 mi) wide, with a total area of 365 square kilometres (141 sq mi). The population of Gaza Strip is about 1.7 million people. In terms its about the size of Atlanta (city only not surburbs) with 4 times the people. So how hard can it be to self police?

sometimes you have to remove healthy tissue to get rid of the cancer. Hamas is not on either side they hide among the population knowing they endanger them, that is not what a caring ruler would do for his people, Hamas is just a terrorist group and serves no other purpose, anyone that sees differently then that has a mental disorder. these people need to fulfill their agenda and its got nothing to do with peace. its purely a Muslim agenda and as the saying goes its the camels nose, a foot in the door, the thin edge of the wedge, however you look at it Hamas is Evil.

What do you suppose would happen if the Palestinians stopped all terrorist activities against the Jews and all other infidels, What would the world be like if the Muslims abandoned their quest to kill everyone that thinks different then they do including each other? you all know damn well this is a part of something bigger and its obvious that its a Muslim thing, a Jihad is in the making has been for half a century. this is the most senseless form of hate, and it is the Muslim that will not change his way, it will be the Muslim that will be the end of mankind as we know it. there are allot of Arabs living in Israel with no problem then there is Gaza they kill as many Arabs as they do Jews because Arabs live there as well I say Neutralize the strip its nothing but trouble. reduce it to a vacant lot and don't let anyone live there.

The 1947 partition may sceme like a good deal now, but then, not so much. Jews only owned 7% of the territiory and partitian would have given them 53%. Most of the Jews had only recently arrived. There were only 20,000 in the territory in 1900. 3/4 arrived in the 15 years before the end of the British mandate.

If your family had been living there for hundreds of years, you would object to this type of treatment.

Try putting yourself in the shoes of both sides.

Nowhere does leslie or the prime minister of israel Benjamin Netanyahu claim to be killing in the name of god or because god told them so! The only people murdering in "the name of their god" and inciting a "holy war" are the paestinians and the islamic religios extremists, Israel is only claiming to be retaliating for the THOUSANDS of rockets launched at them this year from the gaza strip. nothing like trying to bring them down to your moronic level. AGAIN!!!!!! NOWHERE IN ANY ARTICLE I HAVE EVER READ HAS LESLIE OR THE PRIME MINISTER OF ISRAEL CLAIMED TO BE DOING"GODS" WORK, THEY ONLY CLAIM TO BE DEFENDING THEMSELVES FROM THE MULTITUDE OF ROCKETS LAUNCHED INDISCRIMINATELY AT ISRAEL FROM PALESTINE!!!!!!!

I also find it hypocritical that in the headline and in the sub text of the headline ...

Netanyahu: Israel prepared to widen Gaza operation

Prime minister made no mention of a possible ground offensive. Palestinian medical officials said Sunday at least 10 civilians were killed in an airstrike in Gaza City.

Nowhere do the "PALESTINIAN OFFICIALS" mention the attempted murder of thousands of Israeli civilians by the rockets launched from gaza city that this airstrike was retaliation for. Just because Israel has the abiity to shoot down most of these rockets does not mean that they should just let it keep happening. I can only wonder what took them so long to retaliate and why did they show so much restraint? If it were up to me I would show the palestinians what indiscriminate and nonsurgical airstrikes (like the rockets from gaza) can do and how man "innocent" civilians would die if they werent so precise and LEVEL the ENTIRE strip with 12,000 nonsurgical rockets launched all at once!

I am tired of the double standard... thank you again for seeing that the IDF and people of Israel really are trying to preserve life in an area of the world were many people assign it very little value.

Hello Leslie, I hope you are safe.

In fact the US is also victim of this double standard. People seem to feel that when you are well armed and able to defend yourself you are the bad guys. Take the "invasion" of Afghanistan for example, the troops don't target civilians but of course there is always "collateral damage" during a war, no matter how careful you try to be, but many comments are about how bad Americans are, while ignoring the crimes of the Taliban, the thousands upon thousands of murders they committed long before 2001 and beyond, and the fact that these cowards hide behind civilians, in which case as a soldier when you face them you are left 3 choices, either you shoot back and risk killing civilians, you try to escape in which case you are putting your life in danger (even more), or you just let them kill you. Some people don't realise that after 2001 the US could have declared full fledged war on Afghanistan, but they didn't, they could have destroyed this whole country and all the people in it. Instead we are putting the lives of our own troops in danger with the Rules of engagement, which the Taliban and terrorists couldn't care less about, and which they use to get an advantage in battle. Meanwhile there is countries who, if they had the means, would be more then happy to destroy America, and Israel as well, and couldn't care less about the civilians they murder, a good example of that are the September 11th attacks, and the people who celebrated the deaths of these innocent people (including children), these same people who consider the attackers "martyrs", while in reality they were murderers.

People like you Leslie should be telling more about Israel, people are so misinformed it is amazing. Among other things, many don't know for example that about 20% of the population of Israel are actually arabs / Palestinians, and they don't know that Israeli hospitals treat thousands of Palestinians every year. They don't know how badly the prisoners are treated in Palestinian prisons compared to Israeli prisons. They don't know about the Jewish exodus from Muslim and arab countries, nor how Jewish people were treated by Muslims, nor that the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Muslim and Palestinian leader, Haj Amin al-Husseini, was an allied of Hitler. They don't know that Jewish people bought these lands either. They don't know about the Lebanese Samir Kuntar, who attacked Israelis, and killed a little girl in cold blood, after killing her father in front of her, and this man was welcomed as a hero by Muslim leaders.

Hamas are the ones who needs to go, they are doing this knowing fully that Israel would retaliate, knowing fully that they were putting not only Israelis in danger but Palestinians as well, and that it would make Israel look once again like the "bad guys", they (Hamas) are the ones who want war.

Israel is a tiny Jewish state in an ocean of Muslim countries, and these countries simply can't tolerate them. See that tiny red area? that's Israel, the green ones are the arab/Muslim countries

    http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/8755/islamicworldvsisrael.jpg .

Like you I am sad about all the deaths tho, Israelis and Palestinians alike, but as you said the attacks need to stop, I think many Palestinians are tired of Hamas actually.

This said, I hope for peace between Israel and Palestine. God bless.

Maybe "Leslie" should understand she is most likely living on confiscated Palestinian land. Most of the Palestinians have had their farms and land, confiscated at gunpoint and those lands have been GIVEN to the Israeli's. The Palestinians who then had their lands confiscated were forced into POVERTY to live in The Gaza Strip. Sorry, but its hard to feel sorry for people living on lands that were stolen from families that have lived on those farms for hundreds of years......... Cry boo hoo for the people who had their land stolen at gunpoint and are now completely destitute in Gaza.

I see remark after remark on this site screaming about the injustice of Israel bombing those poor Palestinians. What I have to ask is what about the many thousand of rockets and mortars sent at Israel before they finally struck back, or is that just too much of a inconvenient truth for you? Have any of you looked at the west bank and seen any Israeli attacks against them? Of course not, and you know why? They do not stupidly fire rockets at Israel. Look at Lebanon, the Israeli's fire on them, and you want to know why? Because the stupid terrorist fire missiles at Israel.

So what is the moral of the story? It is so simple my 7 year old understands it. IF YOU DO NOT WANT ISRAEL TO ATTACK YOU THEN DO NOT FIRE MISSILES AT THEM!

Actually she is most likely living on a land that was bought by Jewish people many years ago, for an insane amount of money.

While many countries now known as Muslim countries, were actually non-Muslims countries that were invaded by Muslims.

But either way this is the past now, many Israelis were born in Israel, it is their homeland, and both nations need to look towards the future. While Israel welcomes Palestinians in their country, if Palestine was to somehow take over Israel, they (Jewish people) would face the same issue as years ago, another Jewish exodus, as they were persecuted then and would be persecuted now. Just as non-Muslims don't have access to Mecca, non-Muslims would most likely not have access to Jerusalem and other Christian Holy sites anymore.

Israelis who know their history should come here and inform people.

    Slinger,

Why don't you tell the whole story or is it that the truth is something you do not know. How about these same people sided against Israel not once but twice and tried to wipe them all out, or better yet how about the person they learn from was the Jerusalem Mufti during WW2 known as the Gestapo Mufti, he ran Jewish extermination squads and sent hundred of thousands of Jews to their death (this is who the Palestinians look to for guidance from his material). How about going into any square over there and you will see his writings calling for the death of Jews along with Mein Kompf. Are these truths inconvenient or do you like most news people ignore the truth and twist everything to meet your slanted ideology.

Singer, so you don't think it's a human rights violation when a Hamas targes civilians by having one of their pawns blows him/herself up at a wedding in Israel... or on a bus... or anywhere to amass the most civilian casualties possible? Or when Hamas fires rockets at Israel - again targeting civilians? And you think a country should sit back and allow that to continue? What would be your reaction if a terror cell in the US (let's say the American Indians) started blowing themselves up at your local mall? or how about a diner where a loved one of yours happens to be dining? Think about it (by the way, there has never been an independent country of Palestine. Ever. The fact that Israel was willing to be a participant in establishing the first country of Palestne - ever - blows everything you're saying out of the water).

If the world could live with 30,000 Palestinian civilian deaths in this upcoming ground incursion, I bet Israel could rid the world of Hamas forever, and perhaps peace could endure side-by-side with a Palestinian state. Just as the nuclear bombs on Hiroshim and Nagasaki ultimately saved lives as opposed to a prolonged WW2, so would a ground incursion aimed at ridding the world of Hamas forever - no matter the collateral damage. They want to hide behind women, children, and hospitals? So be it.

So who is it telling Israel to stop building in their own country? And how do you think we would react if someone told us we could not build some place. The truth is Israel owns the land and has for the sake of peace given back land after land and it is never enough. Then how do the people over there show respect for them trying to achieve peace? They fire rockets at them. How about their thankfulness for our help; they danced in the streets on 9/11. As far as I am concerned I do not understand giving any money to people or helping people who openly are against everything we are and what we stand for. The Arabs keep taking and never give, they rise up the prices of oil to starve us out, then turn around and take our money. We give and they use to build up launching sites. We need to tell Israel to bus them up and out and to not come back until they start acting like civilized people.

    This sounds like hamas/muslim Propaganda.

There is no way in the world hamas would honor a cease fire unless it gave them time to for a plan of attack. So if there was any plan, I'm sure it was more for the benefit of the palestinians and hamas and would have no doubt been detrimental to the Israelis.

Besides hamas won its seats of power by telling the people it would illiminate the jews. Doesn't look like that's happening now though! LOL

    jerseyshoremarie:

So, if you believe in God, but don't accept His Word, what do you accept as His Word? The Koran?

Yes, in the 1400's - way back then - there was a conspiracy. Gutenberg was complicit. You've outed them all; as well as the apostles who gave their lives for the huge lie. They knew that if they would just die violent deaths they could perpetrate the huge hoax. The Dead Sea Scrolls - found near the West Bank - were part of the conspiracy. Evidence of texts exist, and have existed for centuries. Who could look 500 years ahead in the future with such accuracy? If you don't like what God said about the Jews - and the Jew being His chosen people - take it up with Him. Don't blame or try to shame someone else because you haven't bothered to read or research anything for yourself. That is lazy. You have an idea (congrats for that) in your head of what is supposed to be fair; but in truth, you know nothing about what God said in His Word; nothing. Just for giggles - ever heard of Josephus? A secular writer? I thought not........... You've made absolutely no honest effort - other than pulling stuff out of your own ............... head - and you are making up things.

BTW, God also said to pray for the peace of Jerusalem... If, in fact, you claim to know Him, and do not know what He says, how can you? What is there about Him you do know when you have failed to read what He wrote? There are Bibles everywhere. If you don't believe in God, that would be understandable; but that is not what you said. (BTW - there is ample evidence to the honest seeker - such as C.S. Lewis - who became a Christian while doing an honest attempt to disprove the existence of God). All I'm saying, however badly, is don't depend on how you "feel" and attribute that to God. He says how he feels on many, many things and it is conveyed and written by inspiration of the Holy Spirit through the prophets and apostles of old. Seek honestly.

What do the Zionists want? How much of the Palestinians homeland will make the Israel Zionists recognize Palestine?

If they ever really did have a homeland, it mostly ran through Jordan. Why aren't they going after jordan to get their supossed land back? Or is it just a muslim land grab designed to get the Jews out of the region?

Hamas knows that Israel is determined to continue to take out its strategic targets needed to carry out terrorist activities.

And that's where hamas will place the women and children, in harms way, so they can say "SEE.....the jews are killing women and children" and most people who read about it will say how bad Israel is for killing those women and children. But people and the press won't say a word about hamas making them women and children stand there to get bombed and killed. Typical!

Let me inject some interesting science into this mess.... The "palestinians" - by genetics, are 70% "jewish" and 30% "arab". But in fact, before all of these ridiculous religions divided these people, genetically, they are all caucasians, with common ancestry in the middle east fertile crescent area. The reality is that these are cultural and religious wars, and the primary aggressor is the "palestinian", egged on by a toxic blend of nationalism and religious belief. It is, at its core, a sincere belief in Muslim tenets. Ages ago, these two cultures should have blended and lived together, and formed one super-state perhaps under Jordan, for secular purposes. But no, this is ignorant intolerance, and it IS the "palestinian" muslim that is perpetuating thier own misery. They are taught from childhood as basic religious, unshakable truth that God has commanded that the Jewish people must be destroyed, and that it is the will of "Allah". When these fairy tales are perpetuated as truth, when children grow up believing this, it is only by sheer intelligence and the compassion and otherworldly awakening that comes from being highly aware that this kind of brutish behavoir can be overcome.

The people who happen to find themselves called "jewish" of course, still being entirely human, are going to do everything possible to protect themselves from another group - hell. Lets just call them tribe - of people, who will accept nothing but the DEATH of the other group! So what does this palestinian tribe expect, exactly? If they teach thier own young hatred death and destruction of the neighbors as part of a basic cultural heritage, of course this is going to create an aggressive, hateful culture.

It is amazing that any group of people can think that God ordains the slaughter of another group of people based upon cultural difference, or basically because "my sky-daddy is better than your sky-daddy".

Same people - different religions and culture, one religion is unfortunately, exceedingly aggressive. They do need to be beaten back, until they stop swarming about like some invasive species, intent on destroying every culture that doesn't believe in THEIR sky-daddy. The worst of this is the loss of Indonesian culture. Middle Eastern culture (and that incudes Judeo-Christian) has NO place in a humid island nation. It is atrocious to see Indonesian women in head scarves (a cultural device to protect against blowing sand and arid conditions, but was then twisted to have mysogenistic religious meaning).

Man needs to believe in sky-daddies, because the fear of death is too horrible without something to cling to, to give us hope that we will continue on with our memories and unique personalities, after death. We need answers, even if we need to make them up. But ANY religion that morphs into a form where others must die if they don't believe in it's particular sky-daddy, is a malignant religion that all of humanity has the responsibility to roundly criticize, and reject (yes, that includes Judeo-Christian religions too).

So Slinger, you're actually trying to draw comparisons between Ghandi, The Dalai Lama, Martin Luther King Jr., and Hamas? That would actually be funny if you weren't serious. Actually, I think it would would even be suitable for a 4-year-old's "which one of these is not like the other" workbook.

Oh, and just because somebody lays claim to a land does not make that land in "dispute" ... just as if my laying claim to whatever rock you crawl under doesn't place ownership of that rock in dispute. Speaking of which, please do the intelligent world a favor and crawl back under that rock.

The last time hostilities flaired up between Gaza (Hamas) and Israel one of the posters on a discussion thread, like this one, at that time made a very interestng statement. He said that it would be very simple and easy to protect women, children and other non-combatants from harm. All they would have to do is take them away from the settled, business, military establishment out into the surrounding countryside which is NOT targeted when the rockets start glaring. The poster said there is plenty of such unpopulated space right near the occupied spaces. Since I do not know the topography of Gaza and environments I cannot say if this claim is true or not, I cannot make a judgment one way or the other.***~~~~~*** BUT does any other poster know the truth? <<<~~~>>> If so, please sir or madam, inform me and if so, inform the Palestineans. Pretty please!!!

I wonder if Realist17 and tbenton realize that they sound just like the Germans who refused to believe that concentration camps even existed. The swore it was propaganda. Something tells me your just like the citizens who refused to believe it up to the point they were forced to bury the dead by American forces. They denied, denied, denied until there noses were literally shoved into it. Not all German concentration camps had the showers and the ovens but it didn't make them any less concentration camps. And not all concentration camps were in Germany. Didn't your history teacher ever mention the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland? No gas chambers there but it was a concentration camp none the less. You ignore the atrocities of the ones you support and demonize the atrocities of the ones you don't support. I myself think we have a prime example the supports the theory of the cycle of abuse. The abused have now apologetically became the abusers. What really gets me are the people advocating the extermination of the Palestinians completely as if Palestinian lives are somehow worth less than Jewish lives. Just like the Germans though Jewish lives were worth less than theirs. Come, let's hear the dehumanizing comments about Palestinians so you don't have feel guilty about their murders because you think they are less than animals. All you want to feel superior. And hearing the term"solution to the Palestinian problem" come out of Israeli politicians mouths. Sounds just chilling like the Nazis talking about a "final solution for the Jewish problem. So seriously you can do 80% of the same things the Nazis did but as long as you don't build gas chambers and burn the bodies your all good? Is not the illegal expansion of Jewish settlers consider to be just "reclaiming Israeli property" the same as the Germans confiscating Jewish businesses and land was" reclaiming German property"? Have you seen the 20 foot concrete walls that surround some Palestinian towns? I at least saw them on 60 Minutes. How bout you? Or have to go through 20 check points to visit family 15 miles away? Last time I heard there were no gas chambers or furnaces in Rwanda or Bosnia but did it make what happened there any less than genocide?

Some Lame Name, last I checked, the Jews didn't lob rockets into Germany and send suicide bombers to kill innocent civilians.... all the while swearing to wipe Germany off the map. Correct me if I'm wrong. The fact that you have to cite 60 minutes to support anything you say closes the book on what you said. Israel allowed open borders, and they only resulted in suicide bombers walking into weddings and cafes to blow themselves up. If a people cannot handle responsibility that goes along with privilege, then they are not be entitled to the privilege. It's really quite simple. When the Palestinians want peace, Israel has shown itself as being a willing participent in estblishing the first independent Palestinian country - ever. The only comparisons between the Holocaust and Hamas is that, like Hitler, Hamas wants all Jews dead. What Israel wants is to prevent a bunch of animals from killing its civilians. Ok, I'm done wasting my breath on you.

So the Palestinians are evil for fighting back like German Jews didn't? It's called a Resistance Movement against a hostile invader. The Palestinians didn't invite the Jewish peoples to form Israel. It was forcibly taken from them by the UN by right of the British who held it before that. Well then I guess if the UN and Britain wanted to give away part of India when it was part of the British Empire the Indian people would have been just skippy with it? The Irish certainly seem to be ecstatic over being ruled by British. So much so they firebombed the hell out if them. France had a resistance. So did Denmark. But I'm betting the Germans didn't see them as resistance fighters so much as terrorists anymore than Israel considers Palestinians to be resistance fighters. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter and vise versa. I'm not saying that Palestinians are completely innocent but the Israelis sure as hell aren't lily white themselves and they certainly are not taking the high road especially considering what happened in their past. If a man beats his child severely because he himself was beaten severely as child he's not an abuser and continuing the cycle of violence? Oh and I didn't realize that 60 Minutes was a propaganda vehicle for the Palestinians. I thought they were a respected TV news show. Silly me. I didn't know you lived in Israel and know for a fact they have open borders. I guess I haven't seen several news stories about Israeli blockades of goods bound for Palestine or that ships bound for Palestine are forcibly detained and searched by Israeli forces. I guess you should have a hate on for the Minutemen of the American Revolutionary War for using "terrorists" tactics and not standing lines to be slaughtered. if your done wasting your "breath" on me , since you seem to talk as you type, it's because you have nothing to legitimately refute the points I have made. I'm not going to pretend I support either side but I'm sure as hell not going to excuse bad behavior on one side because I don't want to lose the Jewish vote here in America. if Israel has a right to defend itself so does Palestine. And in my years on this planet it seems to me that a lot more Palestinians have died in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict than Israelis. I guess until the total amount of Palestinians killed reaches over 9 million it doesn't count eh? Israel is such a willing participant in a Palestinian state that they continue to support illegal settling of Palestinian land. And frankly you prove my point about your attitude when you call the Palestinian people "animals". Straight from the Nazis mouth. Please let's hear some more dehumanizing comments about the Palestinian people. You know what ever to justify your hate.

Some Lame, the Palestinians didn't invite the Jews to form Israel? neither did my big toe. And neither the Palestinians nor my big toe had any right to invite them or not. There has never been an independent country of Palestine. Ever. In history. Never. Ever. Just because people think they ought to have a country doesn't make it rightfully so. And by the way, 60 minutes is a sensationalist news entertainment show - I don't know anybody other than you who recognizes it as a hard news show. If Israel didn't have open borders, I'm not sure it would be possible for Palestinian after Palestinian to blow themselves up in a manner intended to kill as many CIVILIANS as possible, which is what makes them animals with no regard for human life. I assure you, if Israel were targeting Palestinian civilians, there would be no Palestinian civilians left. The primary reason for civilian casualties among the Palestinian civilian population is due to the cowardice of Hamas - hiding behind women, children, and hospitals. The fact that Israel is better at fighting wars that Hamas starts isn't Israel's fault. Israel haulted settlements back when they almost had a peace accord almost a decade ago - it was the Palestinians who ended the talks. Many Palestinians want peace, however a statistically significant number of them want the destruction of Israel more than they want an independent state. That is the definition of hate, and you are the definition of a bigot.

Below is a partial list of some of Israel's contributions to the world. People should think about this the next time they use a computer... or leave a voicemail ... or get life-saving early detection of breast cancer... What have the Palestinians contributed to the world, besides suicide bombers and launching rockets behind women and children?

        - Nobel Prizes: Medicine, Chemistry, Economics, Physics, Literature
        - Medical Research: biological pacemaker; DNA nana-computer detects cancer cells – then releases combating drugs; stem-cell technology to regenerate heart tissue; pill-camera, tiny, examines small intestine; first full computerized diagnostic instrument for breast cancer detection; development of heart pump synchronization device
        - Pharmaceutical Research: treatment of Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease
        - Microsoft and Cisco companies – only R&D facilities outside the US are in Israel
        - Microsoft-Windows operating system - designed in Israel
        - Pentium Microprocessor -designed and produced in Israel
        - Voice mail – developed in Israel
        - Aircraft Security System – developed in Israel
        - University degrees, highest % of workers, per capita
        - Museums, zoos, orchestras, home computers – highest %, per capita

So I have blinders over my eyes and can not see the truth? I will tell you what, provide one credible peace of evidence and I will support you. I want this from sources that are neutral and have no stake in the outcome. I do not want Palestinian sources, we have all seen what they have done with news sources. Google 60 minutes article on Paliwood or better yet look it up on YouTube, they have the reruns there, you will see people that were supposedly slaughtered by Israeli's get up off the cots and go play after the Palestinians and European news was done filming.

The truth is I would love to see a peaceful solution, but as long as the Palestinians refuse to recognize Israel and keep indiscriminately lob missiles at them this will never happen. By the way, where is your outrage over their unprovoked firing of thousands of missiles before Israel retaliated, or do you like most liberals have binders on so you can justify living in your world of blind hatred.

Dude I thought you were done wasting your breath on me?(Not youTbenton) And those calling Hamas cowardly for the way they fight. News flash. The Britsh monarchy felt the same way about the American colonists. If you criticize guerilla tactics you might as well criticize the forming of The United States of America because it wasn't the traditional warfare for the time stand in a line tactics that won this country from the British. It was "cowardly" standing behind trees and rocks for cover. Once again your opinion differs depending what side your on plain and simple. If you don't get that you don't want to get it through your anti-fact bubble.

@Tbenton. I do believe that people will ignore evidence or facts that contradict the world view that they have already pre-conceived and will at times violently react when confronted with evidence they don't want to hear or believe.

Especially given that Hamas is hiding behind women and children as they fire their rockets. Especially seeing as how you evidently don't differentiate trees and rocks from women and children.

I think it's called doing what you have to when there is little other choice other than subjugation. Hamas doesn't have the resources to take Israel head to in a manpower battle any more than the American colonist could have taken on the British army with conventional warfare without being trounced. It was the same in Vietnam. A smaller less well equipped was able to stymie the mighty American army using guerrilla tactics. It's a proven tactic. Of course you going to be critical if your on the receiving end. Last time I checked the Palestinians weren't receiving money and military hardware from the USA as Israel has. Hell we love Israel so much we let their spies steal nuclear technology from us. You praise such tactics when employed by someone you support and then decry it when it's used by someone you don't support. Good for the goose but not for the gander.

Ah I love a spell checker that tells me I spelled with wrong.

And since Arabs don't contribute anything to the world I'm sure they'll be glad to know we don't need their oil.

There will never be peace or a Palestinian state because there are Israeli hardliners that want to take all the land that is left. Some Lame: I'm not as critical of their tactic (who am I to judge if Hamas wants to see their women and children killed - that's up to them) as much as I am those who would condemn Israel due to the loss of Palestinian civilian life, without recognition that the loss of civilian life is the fault of Hamas who fires behind women and children. Israel is not targeting civilians - Believe me, if they were, there would be no Palestinian civilian life left to target (or hide behind).

And if I'm in the ring with somebody who punches a lot harder than I do... but also extends his hand in peace, I accept the hand rather than get into a boxing match with him. Had the Palestinians followed that approach, there might actually be (for the first time in history) an independent country called Palestine, rather than women and children dying behind Hamas' rocket locations.

And note that you cited a natural resource as the ONLY contribution of the Arabs to the world. I think you prove the point.

It's not like the Israelis lie or exaggerated about things. Iran has, according to Israel, been 2-3 years from having a nuclear weapon my entire life. I must be a well educated 3 year old then.

I'm pretty fond of The Arabian Nights. I'm pretty sure that counts as a contribution of literature. I guess I don't have more to add because I haven't spent as much time defending the character ofArabs as some people have spent defending the character of the Israelis.

can isreal fight 1.9 billion Arabs? only if they stay divided. But the fight can only be won with peace, not violence. Take a page from the life of Gandhi, Imagine this: according to the old testament and torah, the true name of god is Jehovah. A Jewish friend once told me, that if a Jew writes this name, they must preserve that piece of paper as though it where a Torah. said paper would become sacred. So imagine if 1.9 billion Arabs all sent a piece of paper with the word Jehovah in the mail to the israeli prime minister, would he have to keep all those papers? 1.9 billion pieces of mail would paralyze isreal to begin with. then the storage would make more of a mess. hmmm, This might do more damage then ten thousand rockets. glad no Arabs read these posts. Gandhi defeated the English empire with out a single weapon.

Nope, it's not ok to slaughter people simply because they don't contribute to the world. And that wasn't my point - but of course you'd spin it into your warped bigoted world... Israel isn't slaughtering anybody - if they chose to slaughter the Palestinians, it would be easy enough. They have showed more restraint than any other country would in the face of rocket attacks and suicide bombers by cowards who hide behind women and children.

My point is that the world is better off for Israel's existence - and even if the world's motivation is purely selfish, it should want Israel to continue to exist, despite bigoted viewpoints such as yours and Hamas.

Oh ho please quote me where I say I dislike Jews as a people and don't believe in their right to exist as a state. You'll be hard pressed as I have never said any such thing. I haven't even said anything close about Israel as you have about the Palestinians. I completely believe that Israel has the right to exist although I have not said that to you. On the other hand neither have I said anything like you have implied I believe. It just as I said to earthgirl. You can't say criticize or disagree with anything Israel does with out being called an anti-Semite and to not be an anti-Semite you must keep your trap such and let Israel do whatever it wants and you sir have completely proven my point. I have never said I hate Israel or Jews at any point in these posts(if I had have no doubt I'd be suspended from Newsvine right now, yet I'm not implying I haven't violated the terms of agreement), but do not believe that what some of they are doing is right human rights wise yet that has not stopped you from smearing me as a bigot because you don't agree with what I wrote. Of course they have a right to defend themselves but they also have to duty to remain humane. The losses of the Palestinians are always greater. Yes I have pointed out that ,at least to me, it seems that Israel is is employing some of the same tactics the Nazis used such as an excessive check point system, illegally "reclaiming" Israeli land, and refugee/ghetto/concentration camps(Remember not all German concentration camps were extermination camps. they were spread through the conquered territories) which is exactly what I disagree with because if there is one people that should be dedicated to making sure such things never happen again to anybody ever it is the peoples of Israel much less doing it themselves to somebody else. You seem to be implying you can't be doing anything bad the Nazis were doing unless in it includes a poison shower and a furnace. I sure as hell don't agree with the Arab states with their negative views on women and the insistence on Sharia law(and it's not like Israel doesn't have it religious wackos also, I remember an article not to long ago about orthodox hardliners attacking schoolgirls for wearing "sexually provocative" clothing) but I'm also not going excuse bad behavior on the part of Israel as I don't have a religious bias or am trying to pander to US Jewish voters. I don't agree nor support suicide bombings or rocket attacks but I understand why it is happening and why they do it just as I understand why the Viet Cong used terrorist/guerrilla tactics during Vietnam. And just because I say I understand it in no way means I support or condone it. I just recognize it has a part of history even the history of the country I live in. I evidently must very specific or make clarifications or you will attempt put words into mouth or say that I must think a certain thing even though I never wrote it. I may be a bigot sir but no less a bigot that you. And what's worse is you're a hypocrite.

Some Lame, I don't need a direct quote from your posts. The common theme that you embrace is clear. And by the way, had you lived through Nazi Germany or actually understood what went on, there is no doubt you would not now sound as uneducated as you do. If Israel decided to turn this into another Holocaust, Israel would wipe every single Palestinian in Gaza off the map. That would START to be on par with the Holocaust - but would still fall about 4.5 million people short. And last I checked, the Jews of Germany didn't run suicide bombers to kill civilians, or launch rockets behind women and children. Nor did the Jews refuse the country of Germany's right to exist, nor lay claim to the land. That you even attempt to draw similarities calls you out as the BIGOT that you are.

You don't have to quote me because you can divine the workings of my mind from the content of my posts. How arrogant are you? And you call my education level into question. You barely even try to take the points I've made on and have given little to no counterpoints as to why I'm wrong. you can only resort to personal attacks on my character because I can only guess that you know that you have no real argument against them. Every Palestinian would have to be wiped off the planet to equal those killed by the Nazis? Once again sit I'm no more a bigot than you are. And why do you keep pointing out that the German Jews really didn't fight back against the Nazis? And I'm pretty sure Germany wasn't formed by mandate of the UN out of land owned and occupied by other countries. The countries that saber shake at Israel are the ones wh'so land was taken and were displaced by the formation Israel without compensation and continue to lose land from illegal settlements. I don't deny Israel the right to exist but you certainly seem to think the Palestinians don't have a right to exist or to be recognized as a people or a state. If Israel has the right to exist and have a state why don't the Palestinians have the same right? You obviously don't agree with me but I feel that as Dr. King said it's about judging a person or persons by their actions and the content of their character and fairness andfrankly neither side is acting very well. Both sides have been doing this for well over 50 years and neither ones tactics seems to to be deterring the other. With every strike by both sides more are drawn to the cause by anger and outrage tha will continue the cycle the violence. I can say the Palestinians aren't always doing the right thing. Can you admit possible wrongdoings by Israel? Of course not because it's not an atrocity when it your side or the side you support just when it's the people you hate or don't like. As far as I'm concerned it's atrocity on sides. And just because we think it doesn't always make it so. I can admit that. Can you?

Because you don't realize how offensive it is to a people to compare the attempted extermination of them as a race to a country that defends itself in the face of a militant group who wants to wipe your country off the map. And I don't think you and bigots like you will ever get it.

Yes you've said I'm a bigot 6 different posts now. It's obviously the only argument you have left. It's sad all you can do is continue to smear my character for lack anything better. The last defense of a lost arguement. It's obvious your highly biased and can't be a fair judge. You've made far more disparaging remarks toward the Palestinians than I have Israel. Do you really believe that the Palestinians or Hamas have the military power to really do any serious harm to Israel? If they did they would have done it by now. And there seems to be a lot of press about about Israels Iron Dome defense. It sounds like they have less and less to fear from rocket attacks as they are saying the can shoot down missiles launched at civilians centers. Now that's the right approach. And please give me a rundown of the members of the Israeli government that have been assassinated by Hamas, The PLO, or Palestinians in general over the years. Seems to me the count is a little lop sided. Maybe you find assassination moral high ground but I sure don't. And frankly it won't surprise me one bit if they find Arafat was poisoned with radioactive material once they perform an autopsy after exhuming him. Hell Israel already admitted to assassinating his lieutenant. I've already said I think they are both in the wrong. You just continue to make excuses for Israel. You still seem to be fairly engaged in this for someone that's was done wasting breath on me. Seeing that your full of hot air I'm guessing you have plenty left. Don't forget to vote for you comment.

I suggest you watch a movie called 5 Minutes of Heaven with James Nesbitt and Liam Neeson about a man who is given an opportunity to confront the UVF member who murdered his brother 25 years later during a media interview and the hard choices of forgiveness despite the anger, rage and desire for revenge in the face of the one who committed atrocity against one or ones family. I think there is a lesson to be learned there for you.

They are here, haven't you noticed that ALL of the collapsed comments are from people who DO KNOW their history and are NOT supportive of Israel OR its hard right murderous ideology. We know the truth, and the Israeli's can collapse comments as much as they want........FACT IS the protests against Israel ARE growing louder and stronger.......because we know the truth. Even Noam Chomskey (a Jew) wrote an article about this...........Stop with the Israeli Propaganda.

You mean people like Normal Finkelstein who are warmongers and encourage Muslim countries to kill their fellow Israelis?

I am aware that not all Israelis support their government policies. But I am also aware of the deception on the Palestinian side, and of the fact that if Israel were unarmed they would have been destroyed a long time ago. I have a friend who is a human rights activist and lives in Israel, he, on the other hand, is aware of the deception from the Palestinian government and organisations like Hamas. He even protested with the Palestinians at first, until he realised what was going on on their side.

About the present events: Hamas was fully aware of the fact that Israel would retaliate and try to destroy their launching sites if they attacked them, and they make sure these launching sites are located in heavily populated areas, in other words they hide behind civilians, and they are responsible for the deaths of Palestinians as they brought this upon them. Hamas wants the destruction of Israel, nothing less.

This is a map of Israel and arab/Muslim countries around them, the red part is Israel: http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/8755/islamicworldvsisrael.jpg

Ah yes because we all know that making a comparison about being in denial is on par with calling someone a bigot. I said I wondered if you realized you sound like the Germans in denial. I didn't say you are like Germans in denial Germans. The difference is I gave you the wiggle room of the benefit of the doubt of unintentionally making such a faux pas. Where as you just made a blanket statement and called me a bigot many times. I said the German thing once. Your just engaging in another favored conservative tactic of repeating a lie over and over in hopes enough stupid people will believe it. I see you have at least 3. It's your type who wanted to burn Galileo at the stake because he dared to say the sun didn't revolve around the earth. You didn't say I sound like a bigot you said I am a bigot. There is a difference. That being said there is no point trying to have a logical discussion with the type of right wingnut who most likely(note I say most likely and not that you are) who probably maintains that Obama isn't an American and is a Muslim. But yet you love Israel( as far as their part in getting you raptured). Your not the only one who can make up statements about a person character not knowing anything about them but the words on Newsvine. And congratulations. This is literally the first post in which you chose to actually quote something I said to back up your slurs against me instaed of just inventing it out of thin air. Sad the best you could come up with is me comparing you to a group of people in denial especially since you can't quote one thing I've said to back up your claims of me being a bigot. To any rational person that would speak volumes. So go ahead and lie some more and continue making up things about me since falsehood seems to be your specialty. As I speculated before and has become more and more likely with every post is that you engaging in transference. Making accusation of behavior in others that you yourself are engaged in. You call me under educated but at least if someone makes a compelling argument and makes intelligent points and directs me to information that may show me the error of my thinking I am willing to acknowledge that. At no time in this post have you done so other than to direct me once to a website that may have no more credibly than you gave Wikipedia. You trashed 60 Minutes also so I can only guess it would have only been valid to you if it had been from Fox News(because I can't believe the images I saw on 60 minutes but you can believe Fox's words only). Mostly you have engaged in slander of my character , I can only guess, because you have no intelligent or logical rebuttals for the points I have made. All I have been doing is using what I learned from Debate Club. If you were in debate Club it's hard to tell as this hasn't been a point-count point debate as much as it's been point-name calling free-for-all. I hesitate to even call it a discussion as I have reached out to you privately earlier to say no hard feelings and you returned it with publicly calling me a bigot (sour grapes much because I definitely smell whine).

Oh and I checked out your man Bernie Planck's website. Irony of Ironies that you point me to a blog that is bigoted toward Arabs just before you call me a bigot. I also notice that you you backpedaled from "contribution" tactic after I pointed out that the people killed in the widely recognized genocide in Rwanda hadn't made a significant "contribution". If that was not your point why did you bring the subject of "contribution" up and link Mr. Planck's anti-Arab blog? Seemed to me you were using it to justify your stand on the Israeli treatment of the Palestinains. And why did you not clarify what you meant then afterward if that wasn't what you were getting at?

I'd also like to point out that a search of your man Planck linked him to an article on the Center for Understanding Islam website by Sheila Musaji called Islamophobia and Arabophobia: Laying the Groundwork- Us vs. Them.

          http://www.cuii.org/2010/06/16/islaimophobia-and-arabophobia/

As you can see from the link the article is about Islamophobia and Arabophobia and the Us .vs Them propaganda used in all of histories genocides and a list of those those have used this rhetoric publicly on recorded medias such as TV and radio.

You'll note your man Planck stand in line with some of the rabid rights more prominent blowhards. You can call me a bigot all day long but I'm not the one who provided a link to a site bigoted against Arabs to back up my viewpoint. And it's on Newsvine for all to see. I'd say that's physical proof of your bigotry. You exposed yourself many posts ago. Once again. Double Hypocrite. And when someone votes for your posts they are admitting to being the same type of person and it doesn't bother me because I know they are votes of hate.

            Religious/ideological madness are the worst.

Religion is the opium of the masses. High percentage of Sunni Muslims and a bit lesser percentage among Shiites are high heroin addicts!

This Muslims high dosage is killing infidels near them (mad rocket attacks from Gaza is one example) and among themselves (Sunnis, Shiites, Sufis and so on) as in Syria, Pakistan, Mali and other places when there are no infidels.

It is possible: Allah's prediction may come true at this rate of madness/craziness!

The UK's Guardian seems to be, again, more relevant than the US media:

Stop Pretending the US is an uninvolved, helpless party, in the Israeli Assault on Gaza

The Obama administration's unstinting financial, military and diplomatic support for Israel is a key enabling force in the conflict

A central premise of US media coverage of the Israeli attack on Gaza - beyond the claim that Israel is justifiably "defending itself" - is that this is some endless conflict between two foreign entitles, and Americans can simply sit by helplessly and lament the tragedy of it all. The reality is precisely the opposite: Israeli aggression is possible only because of direct, affirmative, unstinting US diplomatic, financial and military support for Israel and everything it does. This self-flattering depiction of the US as uninvolved, neutral party is the worst media fiction since TV news personalities covered the Arab Spring by pretending that the US is and long has been on the side of the heroic democratic protesters, rather than the key force that spent decades propping up the tyrannies they were fighting.

[....] Palestinian voices are exceedingly rare; the fact of the 45-year-old brutal occupation and ongoing Israeli dominion over Gaza is barely mentioned; meanwhile, every primitive rocket that falls harmlessly near Israeli soil is trumpeted with screaming headlines while the carnage and terror in Gaza is mentioned, if at all, as an afterthought........

According to Haaretz, Israel's Interior Minister, Eli Yishai, said this about Israel's attacks on Gaza: "The goal of the operation is to send Gaza back to the Middle Ages." Let me know if any of the US Sunday talk shows mention that tomorrow during their discussions of this "operation".

Real reporting by who? the Muslims in the UK make up stories just like the Muslims in the ME, in fact there are as many Muslims in Europe as there are Europeans. the fact is Hamas was firing rockets at Israel before Israel retaliated, why do people have so much trouble with that. I hope Israel does blow them back into the stone age and send Iran with them, that is the only way the world will have a chance at peace is to get rid of the radicals that goes for all radicals.

This board is emblematic of the reality that nothing Israel does will satisfy the anti-semetic bigots in this world. So what Israel ought to do is ignore the anti-semites, and once and for all clear Gaza out. No more suicide bombings... no more rockets... and perhaps the real governments of the Middle-East can reach a lasting peace accord, as Israel and Egypt have lived under for the last several decades.

Ok - so why did you all take offense to the UK Guardian, because it was true?

            What did the article say?

The Obama administration's unstinting financial, military and diplomatic support for Israel is a key enabling force in the conflict

That basically said that the US supports Israel financially: the next statements are from a very long paper - but written by Jeremy Sharp, Specialist in Middle Eastern Affairs, written 3/12/2012 for the Congressional Research Service [of the US] - the link is long because it is a long report, in PDF

            Link: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:9cf-A228EOYJ:www.fas.org/sgp/crs/mideast/RL33222.pdf+&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESivH7nNN5W8vX3tXnh9eWaTjMowyQ_VzU-mM8L3GztDlhT7AFej0EtQfSuxjIPN9uRyuJvAf9ZH0Lt3fez5Os2gnJNmPfjEaP7XsvO47YBwq76bemdumhst4NhQJ_DZCnW4HtQH&sig=AHIEtbRK2zZj_e5Mi4lSme_JQmdHNYTsxw

Israel is the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign assistance since World War II. To date,
the United States has provided Israel $115 billion in bilateral assistance. Almost all U.S. bilateral
aid to Israel is in the form of military assistance, although in the past Israel also received
significant economic assistance. Strong congressional support for Israel has resulted in Israel
receiving benefits not available to any other countries; for example, Israel can use some U.S.
military assistance both for research and development in the United States and for military
            purchases from Israeli manufacturers. [...]

The Obama Administration’s FY2013 request includes $3.1 billion in Foreign Military Financing
for Israel and $15 million for refugee resettlement. Within the U.S. Department of Defense, the
U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s FY2013 budget request includes $99.8 million in joint U.S.-
            Israeli co-development for missile defense.

On March 5, 2012, House lawmakers introduced H.R. 4133, the United States-Israel Enhanced
Security Cooperation Act of 2012. If passed, [ it did pass see below ]* this bill would, among other things, allocate additional weaponry and munitions for the forward-deployed United States stockpile in Israel; provide Israel additional surplus defense articles and defense services, as appropriate, in the wake of the withdrawal of United States forces from Iraq; expand Israel's authority to make purchases under the Foreign Military Financing program on a commercial basis; encourage an expanded role for Israel within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), including an enhanced
            presence at NATO headquarters and exercises;

SO, does the the US give Israel money: Yes

Does the US back Israel: Yes, President Obama said today Israel has the right to protect itself (which would be and ok statement if the President also said "it would be nice if you didn't kill so many children," - that statement didn't happen... so, the Guardian is spot on for now... but let's look more:

The Guardian quotes the Israeli paper Haaretz.... did they misquote? NO they didn't... straight from Haaretz:

7:55 P.M. Interior Minister Eli Yishai on Israel's operation in Gaza: "The goal of the operation is to send Gaza back to the Middle Ages. Only then will Israel be calm for forty years."

            http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/live-blog-idf-prepares-for-ground-invasion-as-gaza-offensive-enters-fourth-day-1.478505

What about unilateral support for anything Israel does: yeah, the House passed a bill saying we are the lap dog

Without any mainstream media coverage at all, the House of Representatives passed the United States – Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act of 2012 (USIESC).

The USIESC, written by Eric Cantor , claims there is a need to provide Israel with unlimited military and financial aid as a result of the disturbances caused by the Arab Spring.

Israel will have an essentially unlimited amount of funds allocated to them through the Federal Reserve Bank. The country will also enjoy an “expanded role of NATO” that consists of an “enhanced presence at NATO headquarters and exercises”.

The USIESC pledges the US government’s “commitment” to assist Israel in remaining a Jewish State; as well as protection from the UN if the UN Security Council resolves to hold Israel accountable to international laws.

The US government’s counter-terrorism unit will also aid Israel by any means.

This USIESC asserts that “supported by the American people” the US government will “repeatedly affirm the special bond between the United States and Israel” and that the two countries have “shared values and shared interests.”

If there were ever language to suppose that there were a merging of these two nations, the USIESC fits that bill.

It also gives it to the palestinians and hamas as well. So what's your point? And what do you think those Idiots do with the money? They sure aren't building any infastructure are they?

Personally, I hope Israel takes care of this palestinian problem once and for all. While they're at it, I hope they go ahead and take care of anyone else who denies Israels right to exist. Maybe, while they have planes in the air they can make a stop at irans nuclear facilities.

Azerbaijan, on the iraian border, supposedly offered Israel use of its airbases for rearming and refueling in the event they did strike irans nuclear facilities. Looks like this game could be On!!!

None of you defending the Gazastandis would lay down one minute if your neighbor from across the street would shoot bullets into your house everyday. All of you would fight back. How many rockets have to land on Israel before they can fight back, 500, 1000, 10,000, how many? The people who run Gazastand want all the Israelis dead, they don't want peace, they want every Israeli man, woman, and child, dead. Then they will probably stop shooting all those rockets. Actually they will probably still fire the rockets, at each other. Really what will stop the fighting is when one side is all dead. I'm betting on the Israelis!!

GLCSR - I wasn't replying to you, however, the US "aid to Palestine" is crap..

            1. From FY2008 to the present, annual U.S. bilateral assistance to the West Bank and Gaza Strip has averaged nearly $600 million, including annual averages of approximately $200 million in direct budgetary assistance and $100 million in non-lethal security assistance for the PA in the West Bank.

Wow, $700 million... what a gift, what does Israel get? Don't tell me about rockets fired at Israel, a cow was killed four years ago and their death toll is less than 20 - which includes their military...

Palestine children make up almost half of its population (44%)....

Do we need to do the math together? $700 million (for Gaza) versus (may I mention Israel is a very wealthy nation who managed to support the US war in Iraq without committing one soldier or $1.00)

Given the math from the article: the US gives $4,113,000,000 - Yes that if a bit above 4 TRILLION dollars to Israel.... instead of killing Palestinians, imagine what the US could do with that money to help the desperately poor?

Israel has the Right of Protect its Citizens!! Israel has the RIGHT to respond to attacks on its country with over-whelming force. It is Hamas that uses the women and children of Gaza as Human Shields. Hamas, a terrorist organization, only needs to Stop sending Rockets into Israel and the People of Gaza wil not die. The people of Gaza have a choice -- support Hamas and possibly die - do not support Hamas and live. Israel is not killing Innocent Palestinians, Hamas is killing Palestinians by attacking Israel. Those that support Terrorist Organizations like Hamas are NOT Innocents, they are terrorist themselves. There can be no Palestinian State until Hamasis PERMANENTLY REMOVED from the lands. Hamas could feed all the people of Gaza if they would spend their money on Rockets and arms attacking Israel.

Real reporting by who? the Muslims in the UK make up stories just like the Muslims in the ME, in fact there are as many Muslims in Europe as there are Europeans.

What a bizarre comment. Muslims make up about 3% of the population of the UK.

What everyone seems to forget is that there were more people slaughtered by Nazi invaders than Jews...Hitler began with the Jews but continued on to wipe out anyone in his way to world domination...Just follow his path of the countries he invaded....Mostly Christians that were killed.

The Holocaust started with the Gypsies. They were scooped up first and---in terms of the percentage of their numbers, more Gypsies were killed than Jews, although in actual numbers more Jews were killed than any other ethnic group. By the way, although a certain number of Muslims saved the lives of Jews, the Islamic LEADERSHIP mostly favored the final solution---just as they do today.

Killing innocent people because of a movie in absolutely no manner correlates to 24 innocent people being killed in response to hundreds of rockets being fired into Israel. That stupid movie did not threaten anyone's life nor did it directly cause the death of anyone. The families of those 24 innocent civilians killed should be venting their anger towards their own governing body, Hamas. Their rocket attacks on Israel are the reason why those 24 innocent people are dead.

Those 4 Americans were killed in a response to the movie that was produced, sub titled/dubbed in English, and up loaded on you-tube to provoke Muslims. You CAN NOT control how other side responds, Israelis killed 24, again, innocent civilians including children in response to 1-2 casualties, and it wasn't the first time, if you read the article further it says in 2008-09 Israel killed 1400 Palestinian in 3 weeks where as only 13 casualties were reported on Israel's side. Israel is responsible for these killings and has always been. All I was saying is if we dont have guts to condemn Israel, we shouldn't praise her either.

BTW, producers of that movie knew exactly what that was going to do and how much chaos it would create.

iffat1979.... As an American white male ( but no religious denomination ) I've been hated by people around the world I suspect since I reached adulthood. I really don't care. For me personally, this conflict started with the Olympic killings in 1972, though there was conflict before that. But Americans, for all your distaste for them have been providing food, medical and technical aid, disaster aid, and other aid to worldwide victims of war, famine, drought, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc...and you haven't. Why don't you people do a little good for others instead of being so absorbed in your cultural hatreds that your lifestyle is getting yourselves whomped on again so you can get American aid, and hate Americans some more. Palestinians are smart enough people, just like other peoples around the world. Your religion and culture is failing you... not me. So hate me as an American if you want to, but personally I don't give a damn if you hate me or not. Americans will continue to provide for those they can around the world... because they can, not because you like them or you don't.

Steve Herbert: What do you think after destroying their houses and killing their families, providing them little food and very minimal medical aid, will fill their hearts with love? US wont need to provide all these "reliefs" if a war is not initiated. Mostly Americans with I-dont-give-a-damn-if-you-hate-me-or-not mentality believe it doesn't affect them, but they need to change this attitude sooner or later because current US deficit doesn't allow them to continue to be a world police.

BTW, US not only provides relief to the victims of the war but it also sells/provides arm to the other side of the conflict if US is not the direct assailant. Do you know that US sent undercover CIA agents disguised as NGO workers during 2005 earthquake in Pakistan? Just felt like sharing this with you.

In 1900 the jewish population in Palistine was 20,000. In 1947 jews owned 7% of the land in Palistine. . . . . giving Jews 53% of the territory was unfair.

"There's no country on earth that would tolerate missiles raining down on its citizens"

1.9 percent of the population - 33 percent of Harvard students - beats wasting your precious time defending your country.

Arabs are Pussys! Hiding behind children and women.

So I guess the Journalists from around the world are also irrelevant to you, Israel is bombing all the media outlets (with no warning to the journalists inside) so that the world will not get a clear view of the atrocities that Israel is again committing!

You also seem to have overlooked that Gaza is extremely dense (little land, but lots of people) - 1,710,257 PEOPLE live in Gaza - that is 9,713 PEOPLE per square mile - (to give you a comparison, NEW YORK CITY has an average population density of 4,495 people per sq. mile).... you may also note that nearly 44% of Gaza's population is aged 0-14 years old.

Are there houses in the US near police stations? Near media outlets? Near neighbors (as Israel is bombing houses of "suspected" Hamas )- does the neighbor deserve to die because they live next door? Yes, people in the US live near all the things that Israel is bombing.

Israel determines who can leave Gaza - they are not free to wander, they are now surrounded by tanks...Is this killing worth it? We are creating people who will forever hate the US - and who can blame them, the US isn't "cheering in the street" but most are "cheering" for dead Palestinians on the net!

A CHILD WILL BE KILLED with EACH AND EVERY AIRSTRIKE ON GAZA BECAUSE HALF THE POPULATION OF GAZA IS UNDER 14 YEARS OLD and the population density is almost double that of NYC!.... This is GENOCIDE of the Palestinians! Genocide = the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group (for those who conveniently forget the definition).

Your rant negates the very argument you make.

YES - Gaza's concentration of people IS 2x that of NYC - THAT'S a very good reason why Hammas should not be firing from populated areas; further, with 50 dead from 1000 airstrikes, I think it's a foregone conclusion that Israel is trying VERY hard to limit civilian casualties. If such were not the case, even a dweeb like you would have to admit that the civilian casualties would be MUCH MUCH higher.

What you SEEM to be advocating, is that Israel let the missiles rain down and do nothing.

As an American, and neither Christian or Muslim, I say that there are many, many Muslims that hate all the violence and bloodshed. It's the Muslim extremist that are causing all this, they would rather other Muslims die so they can accomplish their agenda. Which is that the Muslims rule the world under a World-Wide Sharia Caliphate. At the end of any religious cycle, the religion usually falls into fanaticism. The same with American Christianity. The sad part about religious fanaticism, it's like "a fire that none can quench". Who knows at what cost we will all have to pay before this fanaticism burns itself out!!

I think it is highly disingenuous for the Palestinians to act surprised that Israel is going to war with them after electing a party whos stated aim is the annihilation of the Jewish peoples. The US went to war for very similar reasons, Palestinians should look to themselves and their electoral process. If you choose those who espouse hate and violence to lead you, hate and violence is what you will receive. That is to say, what did you expect when you put the worlds foremost group promoting Israeli genocide into power in your country? How disingenuous can one group of people be, either that or just flat out naive.

              Hey Black kettle,

REREAD your link!!! The only "4,495" is the Sq/mi of said area which is ambiguous!

              Apples to apples: New York City (proper) / (468.48 sq/mi) = 17,556.6 per sq/mi. Gaza (city) 450,000 / (17sq/mi) = 26,470 per sq/mi. Metro New York 22,085,649 / (11,842 sq/mi) = 1,865 per sq/mi. Gaza strip 1,710,000/[147 sq/mi(debated)] = 11,632.7 per sq/mi.

Try looking at MULTIPLE cites (US census) before being wrong...twice! Your premise is sound (dense population) but, the facts (comparisons) are is not.

As far as "having a fit," I just beleave that the presentation of information should be clear and accurate!

Jenab, if Gaza is so much 'less powerful', where did it get its (how many?) rockets from? And why did it start hostilities with someone 'more powerful'? And don't be naieve. Hamas is a front for Iran. Pity the poor civilians in Gaza who have no support from anyone, not their Iranian overlords or their elected Hamas government.

If the US helped the people during the uprising 2yrs ago like we did in Egypt and Libya there would be no war now!!

It is hard to respect either side. Neither cares enough to take action to bring peace to their part of the world. Both consider themselves victims, when in fact both are perpetrators of violence. Why would anyone choose to live in a country that is continually at war unless they are either stupid or crazy? Given that, after having chosen to live in such a hellhole, why would one reproduce and bring children into the world to suffer in such an environment? Is religion the answer for both Israeli and Arabs behavior? If that is the case, they worship a pathetic version of God.

How about don't empower groups that promote the genocide of a peoples, any peoples, into office. By electing Hamas, a group who openly supports the genocide of the Jewish peoples, Palestine has set themselves up for failure. Electing Hamas and not expecting a response is either disingenuous or just plain naive.

                    • MSNBC never reported on the daily rocket fire, thousands of rockets, from Gaza before this escalation.
                    • Now in their reports they only show damage to Gaza launch sites caused by Israeli defensive countermeasures.
                    • The sad part is that so many Americans believe this trash and are being taught to hate Israel.

                    And...William:

First, it was the BRITISH, who sponsored the 2-state solution. When partition happened (1948) Britain possessed the land.

                    BUT - that aside -

What you SEEM to be saying, is that the State of Israel is illegal - fine. For the moment, let's assume you're right.

                    1. Does that give the Arabs a right to kill civilians ?

                    2. Does that mean that if Israel gives back ALL the land won in '67, that the Arabs are STILL justified in waging war and working for Israel's destruction ? I mean, after all, if the ENTIRE state is illegal, then, giving back "only" the parts won in '67 changes nothing.

The above is exemplified time and again.

When Arafat was offered 90% of their demands, he refused.

When Israel pulled out of Gaza (7 years ago), the rockets increased.

When Israel put THREE moratoriums on settlements, the rockets increased.

When the IDF threw Israelis off settlement, the rockets increased.

                    William:

What, exactly are you advocating ?

The Gazastandis don't want peace. Even though the Israelis had lived in ancient Palestine, for thousands of years, somehow in 1948 many people regarded the WWII refugees as newcomers. That's was what the first Israeli-Arab war was about. The Israelis won. Ever since then the Arabs want a do over. They fought several wars and Israel always comes out ahead. And immediately the Arabs want their land back. The Golan Heights are a case in point. The Syrians would shell Israel now and then, and in the 1967 war the Israelis took the land from the Syrians and kept it. Of course the Syrians wanted it back. The Israelis said, "no can do bobaloo". Same thing with the Sinai, the Israelis took that from the Egyptians, pumped all the oil out of it they could, but gave it back, in a land for peace deal. I don't think the Arabs will ever defeat the Israel, the Israel are fighting for their lives, the Arabs are fighting for an idea!! Fight on Israel.

Israel started this bloody war just like the one they want too start with Iran.

They are heading for war in every nation near them.

They will not let the Palestinian people become a free state.

They think Iran should not have the same protectionist weapons they have.

They would love too see Lebanon wiped off the face of the map.

They would love to crush Syria.

They would love to get the US into another huge bloody costly war including Russia.

Lets just say this country Israel will stop at nothing to impose there BS religion and might against anyone who they feel is a threat to them.

I say F----k Israel they complain about the whole world being against them yet they do all the FN killing.

I have had enough of this country and its BS ever since WW2 they feel the world owes them something.

I hope the US will not get involved in there fear mongering war against Iran, because that could trigger a huge bloody war like we have never seen since the last big one.

There would never had been such a long fn war if they just gave up Gaza and played nice.

Israel needs to take a chill pill and f---k off before something really bad happens all over the region and other super powers as well.

The only drug I see being pushed down peoples throats is the war drug, and it seems to be getting worse side effects everyday.

Like I said before Israel needs to calm it down before they start a huge FN war that could cause a lot of nations more trouble then there worth.

So why don't you take a pill your living in a war happy lifestyle or so it seems.

Israel is and has always been the one nation that keeps feeding the flames of war in that region yet know one ever seems to put any blame on them....why is that?

What's it going to take........a nuclear strike?

                      The Mask Slips in Gaza

The erudite and eloquent Hugh Fitzgerald, who has graced Jihad Watch with numerous insightful comments, has a superb piece in FrontPage today about how the PA's overtures to Hamas reveal the Palestinian struggle to be just part of the larger global jihad.

All the hard work, all the bribes to diplomats and members of the media, all the subventions to public relations firms, all the enrolling in the Jihad against Israel even of “Christian” Muslims among the “Palestinian” Arabs such as Hanan Ashrawi, Naim Ateek, and Archbishop Sabbah, may now come to naught. With the Palestinian Authority (PA) inviting Hamas into its government, and with the Christian population among the “Palestinian” Arabs now so small (it was once over 20%, and now hovers under 3%, for they are all fleeing the thoroughly Islamized PA), the true nature of the Palestinian nationalist movement has become clear to all. The mask that hid the Jihad has now slipped.

No Krazy Glue will keep it in place. It is clear that even under the assorted, transparently implausible suggestions, for example that of a “bi-national state” (of which the late unlamented Edward Said used to prate), Jews in Israel would inevitably be assigned their historic role as non-Muslim dhimmis – the same one that they endured for nearly 1300 years under Islam, and as those Christian communities that remain now endure: the Copts in Egypt, the Chaldeans in Iraq, and others. (The Maronites are a self-confident, self-contained exception—though the Taif Treaty, which forced Lebanon to declare itself an “Arab nation,” has done great damage to the Christian Lebanese, who -- especially the Maronites -- correctly see themselves as “users of Arabic, “Arabic speakers,” but not as Arabs.)

As non-Muslims, Jews under Islam lived lives that were extremely difficult. Whether it was the outright slave-status of rural Yemenite Jews (as documented in an essay by R.S. Serjeant, himself a quasi-apologist for Islam, who described how, when a Jew owned by Arabs of Tribe A was killed by an Arab of Tribe B, then the members of Tribe A would retaliate by killing a Jew belong to Tribe B), the extreme poverty of Moroccan or Tripolitanian Jews, or even the relative prosperity, for a few decades under late-Ottoman, British, and early-Hashemite rule, of the Jews of Baghdad -- a prosperity-punctuated-by-pogrom (e.g. the Farhud, or Pogrom, of June 1-2, 1941) -- it amounts to the same thing. Humiliation, degradation, and insecurity for all non-Muslims.

The desire to ensure that all non-Muslims who are not killed, or who do not convert, suffer the same fate — as the shari’a dictates — is not limited to the Jews under Islam. Obstinate Infidels are now noticing that Al Qaeda is only the most prominent and mediagenic of the many groups intent on destroying Infidels if they oppose Muslim aims, including the world-wide spread of dar al-Islam: Laskar Jihad, Jaish-e-Toiba, Abu Sayyaf, Lashkar Jihad, Gemaaa Islamiyya, Jemaa Islamiah, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and so many others.

The difference between Hamas and the P.A. is like that between “extremist” and “moderate” Muslim spokesmen: the “extremists” tell the truth about the teachings of Islam, and have considerable, indeed overwhelming, textual authority, in Qur'an and hadith and the sira, or life of Muhammad, on their side. It is the “moderates,” so brightly and repeatedly invoked, and yet so ill-defined and under-analyzed and poorly understood, who have almost no textual authority on their side, and are, to the degree that they abjure Jihad and dhimmitude, incomplete or bad Muslims. Why do they remain silent? Out of embarrassment, filial piety, or something else — perhaps taqiyya or kitman, deliberate religiously-sanctioned deception.

The goals of the PA have always been the same as those of Hamas. It will be fascinating to see if those who dole out the American and European largesse to the PA will now be quite so willing to continue. By supporting the PA, Western Infidel taxpayers are now clearly supporting one front of the worldwide Jihad -- the one which has for decades been wearing its increasingly threadbare disguise of a nationalist “liberation” struggle — just enough of a disguise, apparently, to continue to satisfy the extremely modest demands of Eurabian donors.

Europeans seemingly incapable of recognizing the Jihad, of understanding Islam or the demographic threat to their own societies, may at last find the diseased sympathies evoked in them by that alliterative and meretricious phrase, the “plight of the Palestinian people” no longer quite so forthcoming. Hamas or Hezbollah or Al-Aksa Martyr's Brigade, Arafat or Shukairy, it scarcely matters. From Abu Sayyaf in the distant Moro Islands, to the preachers at the Finsbury Mosque, to the Lackawanna Five, in upstate New York, to Mike Hawash of Intel and Portland, Oregon, setting out to join the Jihad, so that he might help his fellow Muslims kill his fellow Americans, in Afghanistan — they are all in the same boat.

                      Alas, so are we.

This is Israel's way of putting pressure on Obama. It is blackmailing America with strong local Jewish lobby. American Jewish leaders if they are true American have obligation to speak out against this black mail and ask Israel to remove its hegemony and give freedom to Palestinians.

This last barabric vestige of colonialization eveilo must be castrated out. If problem Israel had it was with Germany where they are moving back to take advantage of healthy German economy. All the action of WW2 forgiven in name of bucks.

Time to kill them all. islam is the cancer of the world, perpetrated by ignorant asswipes, still living in the 10th century. If gaza is not backed by iran or egypt, then they will run and hide like the cockroaches they are.

the innocents in gaza, if there are any, have fair warning to leave before the carnage truly begins. staying there would be like staying in a burning building- they have been warned. Only the mooslims want the civilians to stay so they can hide behind them and cry out to the world when their human shields get killed. just like the mooslims, hiding and using.

Hatred inspires hatred, retribution follows retribution, and around and around it goes.

In the meantime, it's civilians and children that pay the ultimate price.

Talk about hatred. If you're not a mooslim then you either convert or you die. The US wants to be PC, but its our stand on being politically correct that allows these mooslim slugs to perpetrate their crimes in the name of their god, mohammed, who by the way, was nothing short of a pedophile and goat banger.

So if you want to see peace, either change the entire mooslim thinking or kill them first. there is no co-existence, they have proved that over and over. There is no educating them, they show that when they shoot a little girl who only wants to go to school.

The moolsims are thugs with guns and rockets who shoot and run. They cover their faces, just in case they lose? Or because they are nothing more than jealous asswipes.

Just think, if I was in a mooslim country I would be murdered for my thoughts and statements.

JohnnyZap, Once again your statement is wrong. Mohammed was a goat banger, but he also liked to bang sheep, cows, and even monkeys. A pedophile who raped children of both sexes and a thief.

Islam is a dangerous and murderous cult set up by Mohammed so he could get rich and have sex with children. This cult is practiced today by men who also like to have sex with children and multiple wives. It is the perfect cult to join if you are a sick, dememnted, sex starved, criminal who needs to get around human rights laws.

The "yes": It's about not letting Israel have ANY of the land in the area.

The "no": It's about the destruction of a people.

It's about an elected party being a proponent of the genocide of the Israeli peoples. To not expect a response of the strongest kind after putting such hate mongers into power is totally disingenuous, either that or just flat out naive.

NBC, you should stick to sports. In case you didn't know it, which I highly doubt, Gaza is ruled by force by the Hamas terrorist organization. Hamas, by word and deed, desires the annihilation of Israel and the extermination of the Jewish people. They have been firing missiles at the civilian population of Israel for years. Over 10,000 missiles, rockets and mortars of the past 7 years and over 500 in the past week causing many casualties and wide spread damage. NBC, when it comes to reporting about Israel you have no honesty, no integrity and no professional ethics.

Terrorists are influenced by poverty and oppression first, and then a long standing tradition of hatred for the generations to follow. Terrorism is how the poor fight the rich. That being said, when an elected parties stated aim is the genocide of the Israeli peoples then the rich Israelis should show the poor in Gaza that you don't poke the bear, you tip toe around it. That is how global politics works. To elect a group who promotes genocide is unforgivable and any nation that would do so should certainly be taught a very firm and public message, the West will not tolerate terrorist groups holding governing positions of power, that is unless that group can show sufficient military might to make us hold. That is to say unless you are Iran, if you elect terrorists openly and without apology the West will respond with force every time. Regardless of feelings about right and wrong this is reality, lets all try to live in it.

Do Israeli's like American's? I saw a documentary where they seemed liked they hated us. Just curious. As an American, I view the situation as if cuba or some other neighboring country launched rockets into America. The amount of patience Israel has shown is immense. It wouldn't take thousands of rockets before America solved the problem nor would we as for permission. I hope it gets solved peacfully but everyone know's there is much hate in that part of the world. Sooner or later the gloves will have to come off. Prayers to you all.

Just like Americans, there are Israeli's that hate us and there are some who like us.

I offer you a different perspective on this. Imagine that in America, all the Native Americans (who would be kinda like the Israeli's) decided this was their land all along, and they want it back...Americans move out! Americans (analagous to Palestinians) although not truly native to this land, wouldn't know where to go since we've been living here for generations. Now neither side is actually wrong, it just creates an impossible problem. I wish they would just realize they have to live together but I have a very bad feeling that this is going to end poorly.

I'm happy, that it does look like Israel is getting ready to attack Gaza, and help rid themselves and the WORLD of a large group of terrorists. They have been in control for how many years now? WHAT is it they have produced? How many companies have started? How many farmers have planted crops. What did they do with the large number of ultra modern greenhouses left to them? Know what they did with the greenhouses? Smashed them. Their ONLY export is DEATH.

I know it's a mess over there, I just don't believe they will be able to coexist. Too many Palestinians are like the American Indian 175 yr's ago only they are living now and there Leaders are getting rich off the foreign aid that come's in from all over the world instead of building infrastructure for the benefit of the people. Like power and water / Housing. And then they blame America and Israel for keeping them in the stone ages and the people believe it. There is no easy answer. BUT know this, Israel is not going anywhere!!! They want to live in peace more than anyone!!

It is difficult for a Westerner to accept the depths of duplicity and violence in the Palestinian culture. This fact is frequently exploited by their propagandists when they try to excuse a Palestinian act of horrific cruelty by posting, “it must have been Western injustice that drove him/her to such lengths.” In fact, acts of horrific cruelty are everyday occurrences in their society. We must understand that the values of the Palestinians are fundamentally different from those of civilized countries like Israel and the US. There are thousands of examples of this difference, but one, in particular, illustrates the contrast very well:

The Palestinians put a suicide bomb vest on a mentally handicapped Palestinian teenager, Hussam Abdo. Instead of simply shooting him at the border, the Israelis helped him disarm the vest and saved his life. The life that the Palestinians had just tried to destroy. I think that US or European soldiers would have been merciful, too.

It is far more important than posturing or politics to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the nations, like Israel, who share our core values.

CORRECT!! These people seem to have very little value for human lives. They seem perfectly willing to store weapons in Mosques, families' homes, ANYWHERE they think Israel won't bomb-because they, like other HUMANS put a value on human lives. Hope we stay the hell out of this one. We have more pressing issues in this country....Like what is happening with "Twinkies".....are they going to stay in business? move operations elsewhere?

Israel is more then capable of handling Hamas. Hamas brought this on themselves. They can stop it....just cease the launching of missles and rockets across the border. And if they are so concerned about their civilians then stop putting their launch sites and ammo dumps in heavily populated areas

You make a good point. I think the president needs to focus his attention on Twinkies and make sure we don't lose HoHos and ding dongs. Twinkies have been around since 1930 and may now dissapere forever. There will always be Muslims no matter how many Palestinians get sent to paradise by Israel.

The Palestianians are condemned for defending themselves against Israel's constance aggression since 1948.

We are funding Israel with our tax money, supplying the weapons that kill. One day when all is said and done and Israel has all the Arabs land, then next on the list will be the United States, attacked by the Zionist useing the weapons we gave them. Don't underestimate the Zionists. They aiready have control of our government and the minds of most Americans as I have read in these comments. What does Israel know about 9/11???

There is an eerie déjà vu about an unmistakable and oft-repeated process in the Arab–Israel conflict. The process started in 1937 and has repeated itself with minor variations many times over the subsequent 74 years. The process is as follows: Arabs go to war with Israel, promising Israel’s destruction and the annihilation of its Jews. Israel wins the war and offers peace. Arab leaders reject Israel’s peace offer, renew their promises of destruction and annihilation; and after a while they go to war again, and lose again, and Israel again offers peace. Repeat this process 31 times and you have the history of the Arab-Israel conflict in a nutshell.

Yes William Da Moron, there was a cease fire and the fracking Hamas broke it by firing into Israel first. They have brought their misery upon themselves. They are terrorists plain and simple and murderers. William do us all a favor; stay off this thread until you have done your research.

Iffat, here's a homework assignment: first, find one case of Israel's targeting innocent civilians. One. And don't quote Goldstone because he explicitly retracted the accusation. Second, identify one military target in Sderot, Ashkelon, Beersheva, Netivot, etc., at which Hamas has been firing thousands of rockets for years. Just one target. Not the one in Dimona. Report back with details before this forum is closed.

The fundamental belief in the Middle East is that any Jew is a military target. The Palestinian charter endorses the elimination of Israel and all Jews so sending unguided fireworks on steroids anywhere in Israel is legitimate.......

As long as the Arab world pursues "life, liberty and the elimination of Jews" they will themselves be eliminated.

You make a good point-- The Quran tells muslims to hate and kill Jews wherever they find them. The only way a Muslim can be a devout Muslim, is to kill Jews.

In my opinion, Islam is not a religion, but a murderous cult.

Why is anyone who has a different opinion always get labeled as stupid, and have obscenities hurled at them? It reflects poorly upon you, and people will stop giving any credence to what you have to say.

Also; you who collapse people's comments because they pose a threat to yours makes those of us who wish to hear both sides of the argument even more interested in what they have to say. Seems like the only ones who have their comments collapsed are those who are not advocating for Israel. I, for one, am appalled that the land that was supposed to be so generously given to the Palestinians

The permit system needlessly prevents Palestinians from working their own farmlands. Israel’s highest court upheld a system that applies a broad brush to isolate Palestinians from their lands without a narrowly tailored security rationale as should be legally required.

Joe Stork, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch

The permit regime affects all Palestinians living in or seeking to access land on the side of the separation barrier that the Israeli military has marked as “seam zones,” which cover more than 18,400 hectares. Even in areas not declared seam zones, Israel requires Palestinians to obtain advance permission from the military, called coordination, to access their lands. In practice, Israel has rarely allowed Palestinians to access their farmlands on the other side of the barrier, and then only for brief periods on days chosen by the Israeli military regardless of weather conditions or agricultural needs.

So much for Israel. And we support them with the funding to develop themselves. Do you really think that they would extend this support to anyone but their own? How many of the people of Israel are really natives to the region? This is a place set up by the western world for the Jews, period.

What is this about Palestinian civilians, there are no civilians, Hamas has already weeded out and killed anyone that isn't in agreement with them. But there are children and for them I feel deeply and even more sorrow that they will eventually be brainwashed into becoming a member of Hamas like their parents. The militants set up their rockets in schools and when the rocket is bombed, they cry unfair of Isreal and call them child killers, and take pictures of injured children when they don't even care enough about their own people and their children to protect them. That Islamic religion must be something that parents can send their children to school knowing that they are in horrific danger of being killed. What Hamas does should sicken most Palestinians and somehow it doesn't and these idiots send their kids to be slaughtered and eagerly become members of these islamic terrorist groups.
