Most people in the US support Israel because it is the most democratic nation in the middle east. It supports the free market and freedom. The Israelis don't strap bombs to their kids' and send them out to blow up themselves and other innocents. The don't lob thousands of bombs over the years into a country to kill people that have done them no harm. Israel has never sworn themselves to the elimination of Palestinians. Too bad the rulers of the Palestinians can't make the same claim. Even Arafat's PLO was sworn to the idea of the annihilation of Israel as he was supposedly negotiating in good faith on behalf of the Palestinians. Every "peace treaty" that has been negotiated by Israel with any Palestinian organization has been broken by the Palestinians. All those "land for peace" deals ended the same: Land for buying the time for the rearmament of the Palestinians so they could attack Israel again.

The fact is that all the Palestinians have to do to have peace is stop attacking Israel. That won't happen because they still cling to the idea of nothing less than the complete destruction of Israel is acceptable. I do find it funny that apparently the rank and file seem to think this will help their plight. The fact is that there are over a million Palestinian citizens in Israel and they are heck of a lot better off than the Palestinians who want to fight against Israel. Also, the US and Israel are the two largest contributors to the Palestinians since Israel was formed. Unfortunately, it looks like this war is going to have to be fought like every other war since time immemorial: Until there is a victor. The fact is that there has never been peace resulting from a negotiated agreement without one side being a victor. Sixty plus years of this shows the truth of the matter.

The only reason that the '67 war occurred was because the Israelis got sick and tired of being bombed and attacked by the thugs. If you wage war you'd better be willing to live with the consequences. That means the Israelis won and the Palestinians lost. They were beat fair and square. That starts a different starting point. Israel controlled Gaza, the Golan Heights, the West Bank and Sinai. Even then, they didn't "boot" the Palestinians out. Over one million have chosen to live as Israeli citizens.

You seem to think that Jews are a new people in the area. That's not the case. So, the bottom line is if the Palestinians want to live in peace, all they have to do is stop attacking the Israelis. If they want to wage war, then they shouldn't be surprised if they are wiped out since the Israelis have the superior military. So, if you want to continue to support the war, then continue to support the Palestinians. You want peace? Support the Israelis.

Who killed Arafat? Almost certainly not the Israelis. Why would they bother to kill a dying man? They had dealt with him for decades, they could afford to put up with him for another few months or years. If Arafat was poisoned, it was probably (as someone else commented) for his money, or for his power/authority, by someone who didn't have the patience to wait for him to exit naturally.

I can't seem to find my way clear to the end of a conflict that is older than anyone actually posting here. What I observe instead is the simple fact that this news of alleged polonium 210 was last discussed during a time of elevated discourse in the region and when a peace agreement was reached.

Now again we see an agreement arrived at to end hostilities, and again we see the news reporting upon this PURE PROPAGANDA.
