U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivers a speech "Frontlines and Frontiers: Making Human Rights a Human Reality" at Dublin City University in the Irish capital Thursday.
In an emotional speech as she nears the end of her term of office, Hillary Clinton warned there would be "many sacrifices and losses" before daughters were "valued as sons" across the world, according to reporters traveling with the secretary of state.
Clinton, speaking Thursday at Dublin City University in Ireland, was given a humanitarian award by the non-governmental organization Concern Worldwide, whose chief executive Tom Arnold hailed her as "one of the greatest" secretaries of state "in the history of the Republic."
Clinton spoke about what human rights meant to her personally, describing what it was like to be a female official visiting male-dominated countries.
"As the mother of a daughter, and as someone who believes strongly in the right of every person, male and female, to have the opportunity to live up to his or her God-given potential," Clinton said, "it pains me so greatly when I travel to places around the world and am received almost as an exception to the rule, where the male leaders meet with me because I am the secretary of state of the United States, overlooking the fact that I also happen to be a woman."
"We are on the right side of history in this struggle, but there will be many sacrifices and losses until we finally reach a point where daughters are valued as sons, where girls as educated as boys, where women are encouraged and permitted to make their contributions to their families, to their societies just as the men are," she added.
'Moved' by Pakistan schoolgirl's story
Clinton, who opened the school's new conflict resolution institute, picked out the case of Malala Yousufzai, a Pakistani schoolgirl shot by a Taliban gunman over her outspoken belief that girls should receive an education. Her activism started in 2008, when she was about 11 years old, and she wrote a blog for BBC News about her experiences.
"All of us were moved by the story of the young Pakistani girl, Malala, who was targeted by the Taliban for the effrontery for going to school — more than that, speaking out for the rights of girls in Pakistan to go to school," Clinton said.
'We are strong': Malala's wounded friends back in Pakistan school
"She was miraculously spared from being literally shot in the face and is making what appears to be an excellent recovery," she added. "For every young woman whose name comes to our attention, there are countless others who suffer in silence, who face cultural and social and religious barriers to their human rights and dignity."
Clinton said she did not mind that she had been called an idealist and also a realist.
"In reality, I think we all need to be more of a hybrid, perhaps idealistic realists," she said. "Because leading effectively cannot be done without our values. And a great deal of what is happening today bears that out."

Clinton, who is standing down as secretary of state, said she had traveled to more "far-flung places than I could have imagined as a young girl growing up in the middle of America in the decades that followed World War II."
"And I must say that among the most striking things that I have learned is how much we have in common," she said. "I've sat down with people everywhere, discussing what was in their hearts and on their minds. And it doesn't take long to find commonality which is often overlooked, ignored, dismissed, and rejected otherwise."
Clinton chokes up
Clinton choked up a little when speaking about "a great friend of mine," Inez McCormack, a labor leader in Northern Ireland who she said had worked to bring peace and reconciliation to an area blighted by sectarian conflict.
"Inez lives in Derry, where she's fighting cancer, and I called her before coming here to check in on her, and asked her how she was doing," she said. "She's very brave and putting up with all the treatments, knowing that it's a hard road for her. And she did not want to talk about herself; she wanted to talk about her daughter, who moved up the date of her wedding, which made her very happy."
Dozens of police hurt in Northern Ireland sectarian clashes
"But she wanted to talk about how we had to keep working to bring people together so that they would recognize the common humanity and experience in the other," Clinton added.
Clinton was due to travel to Northern Ireland Friday to lend support to a fragile peace that was one of the greatest successes of her husband's presidency.
Cops hurt as British unionist protesters try to storm Belfast City Hall in flag spat
She visits a province transformed by the 1998 peace agreement but still riven by sectarian loyalties, with a prison officer shot dead by nationalist militants last month and unionist protesters rioting over the removal of a British flag.

And when will women be as valued in the United States?
Come on. This article had me laughing. I have had a lot of discrimination due to being a female. It happens at work, at the doctor's offices and almost anywhere.
And yet a woman is soon to be elected President.
Say what you will, Hillary Clinton works. She works to pull us together, not shove us apart. She has a different point of view than so many other "leaders" in the world. Sure, she's made mistakes. Who can stand before me and say they have not? But she really works to get it right. (The person who never does anything never makes a mistake. For all of you fingerpointers and blamers, you might look in a mirror before you start.)
In the US, we women still face an uphill battle, and it's part our fault. We can be just as powerful as any man, we simply must start demanding to be treated equally. Our failure is that we have "submitted" to the demands of men, even when we knew they were wrong. This is the way we have been taught. We must stop this practice.
We have been called names and decried as un/undereducated, naive in the ways of the world, and not strong enough to handle worldly affairs. We have been referred to as "rape bait" only because of our gender. How many have heard the phrases "women should be kept barefoot and pregnant?" "The woman's place is in the home/kitchen." "I can bring home the bacon and cook it up in a pan, and never let you forget you are the man." I could go on and on with the remarks made by men (and women!) in reference to women, but the truth of the matter is that men are afraid of women. They fear us so much that their only real tool is to subjugate us in anyway possible. "Unacceptable" should be our reply.
Hillary, you go girl! Run for Prez on the next cycle. I'll vote for you. AND, since a little better than half of the population of this country are women, and we all exercise our rights, you'll get the office. Unfortunately, many are still under the crushing thumb of domination. I hope they become stronger for the betterment of all.
when will you register for the draft?
Hillary is a Cancer! Yup, I said it, a CANCER. Where was she when they wanted to question her about Benghazi? She had better things to do. Now this is her stand, her passion, her focus. We lost Americans, when they knew it was coming, and some choose to place her on a pedestal? Holy goodness, you all deserve everything you get!
Why should anyone?
war is despicable at all levels... just look what fools we have made of ourselves AGAIN in Iran and Afghanistan.....
But What has this got to do with EQUAL RIGHTS for Women
Kered,,why is it ok for someones son to have to register but not the daughter?if there is np difference it should'nt matter.
Hillary just like other politicians says one thing and does the other thing!
She is more worried about Jewish and oil companies'/lobbyists money and women votes than literally contribute some thing positive in this world.
Worst oppressors of females are the seventh century bigoted Sunni rulers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and other Sunni Arab League rulers.
Iraqi wars saved most of these exploiters and barbaric and beastly female oppressors!
In return for saving them, these ungrateful and backstabbing bigoted Sunni barbarians have funded their extremist versions of Sunni Salaffi and Wahhabi mosques all over the world.
These mosques do only hate preaching, killer training, spreading of Sharia Laws, which are most unfair to females and indugle in other subversive activities in non-Muslim nations.
In 1991, NATO forces saved Kuwaiti ruler with 65 wives at one time and fixed his gold toilets.
Now Sunni rulers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and other Arab League nations and their agents like oil companies and lobbyists are jumping all over on Assad in Syria and Iran.
So all of a sudden Syria has most dangerous chemical weapons and Iran has more dangerous WMDs (forget about Pakistan, N. Korea and just focus in Iran)!
It is back to square one on Syria and Iran!
So do these people (Hillary is key foreign policy decider in first term of Obama adminstration) mean what they say?
If we had to have a female president i would personally prefer a non political single WORKING mother of 3.Then we know there would be a balanced budget if nothing else..
I'll agree her message is strong, just and fair but,
Hillary Clinton warned there would be “many sacrifices and losses” before daughters were “valued as sons” across the world, according to reporters traveling with the secretary of state.
A woman can never be equal to a son as this is how the family name is carried on and has been so throughout history. While it's true a woman's role in society has changed over the years due to greedy corporate practices, I doubt it will ever become truly equal. Too many religions place woman second to man and that will never change. So long as it remains recorded in religion, it will be woman's place to be subservient to man and the religious hardliners will rule this way.
I think she would have better luck with racial equality.
Freud had it right - women have been trying to grow a penis since Eve, and they can't get it through their heads that the more "equal" they become, the less men want anything to do with them. Women can achieve ANYTHING in this nation that they aspire, and the talking head, professional politician Hillary is an example of this - albeit a sorry one. Even her own husband had to resort to getting sex from an intern because she had virtually destroyed any intimacy that might have existed between them. Men, especially American men, are sick and tired of hearing women bitch about how discriminated they are, only most will say nothing for fear of what comes next. It is about time women shut their mouths, quit asking for sympathy, special privilage, and always wanting to be on top. Got news for Hillary, about 24 million men a year travel to her so called "male dominated" countries to meet, court, or often marry women who view their role of being a mate to their spouse more important than a title or some illusory fantasy of inequality. Bottom line, they will never have a penis unless they buy one, and THAT is exactly what many of them do. Give me a break. The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.
"if we had to have a female president"?
I can only hope that was written by a man. This is a misogynistic country to the core, as so many of the above comments demonstrate. Even in a country as racist as ours, it is easier to elect a black man to the presidency than it is to elect a woman.
Fortunately, not all men are such chauvinists.
Michelle Obama is a strong woman...and that doesn't seem to bother her enlightened husband.
A good step toward full equality would be to give single fathers the same treatment that single mothers get in family courts.
"Clinton, who is standing down as secretary of state..." That's just a nice way of saying she's "quitting" because she can not handle the job, she has been the most ineffectual Secretary of State in history, not because she is a female, but because she has no qualifications to govern at all. Her only claim to become President is the fact she married Bill Clinton and has been riding on his coattails ever since. She's a job hopping carpet bagger looking for opportunities to enhance her resume while accomplishing nothing of value for women at all.
Liberals have become the party of the say whatever it takes to get elected candidates. Their supporters can look past any of it, because lies only matter when they come from the other side of the isle. All liberals have to do is get in unison, say it over and over, and pretty soon it becomes a fact to their minions. Once they said women should be getting more free stuff, free birth control, free abortions, it became a war. Seems funny to me that lacking entirely from the Democrat party is any talk of personal responsibility, it has become the party of what can the government do for me. Well at the rate the Democrats are borrowing and spending, not a whole lot more.
Good idea wolfhound27. Would all revenue be generated by alimony and child support paid only by men working two jobs in labor camps (to, you know, keep them from raping and killing and being poor influence on their children) to stay out of jail to support all of the prized princesses? There are hiring laws to support women in preference over men. There are healthcare laws in support of women that ignore men. There are child support, alimony, and child custody laws in support of women in preference over fathers. There are women's health centers in every major city, none for men. There are councils and government posts specifically designated for the support of women's issues, and none for men and boys. Yet you still want the pity, the financial assistance of men, and the admiration for your hallowed feminine status. I like Clinton. She is smart, she works hard, and she does a good job, but the real tangible gender innequalities in this country are written into law and they ALL favor women and girls.
Hillary does stand up for women, heck her and the Obama administration have been covering for that nincompoop Susan Rice while the world laughs their butts off at them.
@CommonSense_not2Common
You obviously never been outside of US. Your post are full of ignorant and political bias.
You want to talk about war casualty, how about stop single out Obama and talk about other past presidents? Oh, selective memories as usual.
The fact remains is compared to the rest of the world, we are in the top 10% and that is a fact.
Ever gone hungry for 3 days? Eat crap to fill your stomach? Dig landmine to get money to support your family? Dig out the trashes to find something to make little money? Or beg on the street and dream of someday you can have fresh bread every 2 days?
Don't think so, and you will never know since you are so spoiled and bias with your comment. Travel the world for once and see with your own eyes instead of listening to others.
"Liberals have become the party of the say whatever it takes to get elected candidates."
LOL!!! Tell us Rick -- who was the Republican who lost the Presidential race last month ?? How many different positions did he take on, taxes, immigration, abortion, guns, foreign policy, you name it? He was for and against and then for and then kind of for but kind of against every issues issue discussed depending on who he was talking to at the time. You conservatives do have a knack -- whenever you try to describe a liberal, you end up describing yourselves.
This communist b itch should be prosecuted for murdering four Americans in Libya along with Obama
Numb3rTech-
I don't know what state you live in, but it sure isn't mine.
Charlie-1915998
Its funny how politicians play these games and everyone eats it up. Like Obama not supporting gays until election time.. not that he did anything for them - just supported them. and the same for illegal immagrants.
Wow, I was right! Such fearful men making such posts. Just Wow!
"A woman can never be equal to a son as this is how the family name is carried on and has been so throughout history." What utter BS. This is the kind of crap that we women must shovel out the door every single day. What has a name to do with anything? It's just a placard that marks not marrying your brother or sister. Whoop-de-doo.
Just Wow! (I can think of several other statements, but then I would be barred from ever posting again on the vine for the type of language I would use.)
And for all the people who actually "know" what happened in Benghazi--really and truly know--Let's hear it. I want facts, figures, time tables, etc. I want the first and last names of all the players, too. C'mon, spit them out. Supposition is not acceptable. (Yeah right, I didn't think so.)
As for women signing up for the draft: Since we don't have a draft anymore, I see no sense in anyone signing up for it. But I do agree, if the draft is brought back, everyone should be eligible. No one should get a pass, either--not for an education, not for a handicap, not for a legislator's child, not for anything. EVERYONE can serve in some way. It might not be front line services, but floors still need to be swept and phones answered.
What a Terrible Terrible Secretary of State. The Arab Spring takes place and NOBODY in our government is looking out for the US's interests. Look at what is happening right now in Syria. Thousands of Syria's people are on the verge of being murdered by Assad with the same WMD Saddam Hussein used on his own people and what is Hillary doing about it?
When Hillary was put into this position I was hopeful that this might be a small bright spot in an otherwise dismal turn of events......Oh well. At least she didn't go on a 21 day vacation during a crisis
Why Charlie? Did Rick describe himself as "Retarded"? or "Dishonest"?
WOW and there are people out there that believe this drivel. I know there are some women that disrespect men so why is there such a problem when its the other way. If women want equal right then they need to pull the same weight. You can NOT say oh they are women they can NOT do the same job as a man. then quit complaining about it, then when you do the same work you get the same pay.
Wolf = proud misogynist. There is no draft. The U.S. has had a volunteer military since the mid-1970s, brought about by many females on the front lines of the 1960s/1970s movement to bring that to fruition, for the benefit of males. Nearly 25% of today's military is female; do some research into females who have died in service just over the past decade's 2 wars. Doubtless, you are also unaware that women have long been casualties of war, since the first armed conflict that two men started. Idiot.
The enormous predatory violence against little girls and women in the U.S., alone, out be unacceptable to men. But it isn't. To the contrary.
Does Hillary have any idea how many people on this planet live in poverty. They live mainly off the sweat of their brow by physical labor. They're not sitting in some nice office. A son can do much more physical work than a daughter, so the son is more valued, not because of who he inherently is, but because of his value as a laborer. So yes, when women can do as much physical labor as man in these situations, they will be valued as the same mule as their brothers.
Hillary is contesting 2016 elections!
wolfhound -
Personally, I feel that young women should be required to register forthe draft just as young men are required to. And before you ask, I served in the US military - active duty enlisted - so I practice what I preach here. My daughter would have followed my footsteps into the military except that she blew out her knee in ROTC in high school.
Military service (or an equivalent service - where one must be ready to offer up their life like fireman or policeman) should be required of citizens of this country. then, perhaps, there wouldn't be quite so many 'takers' in our society.
steve -
I agree with you there. I have seen too many instances of women working at jobs like welding or shipfitting who expect their male counterparts to help them move their welding lines or other tools when they are quite capable of doing it themselves. They should not make the same wages if they are unwilling to do all of the same work.
But, on the other hand, I have also seen many women be hired in at lower wages even when they have better qualifications than their male counterparts - it has happened to me in the past.
CommonSense_not2Common
Call your congressperson and a "subpoena" issued for her then. A cancer? What an insult to one of the finest ladies this nation has.
P.S. Where was your common sense about ole Condoleezzzza. We had 12 embassy attacks resulting in 54 MURDERED Americans during her 'cancer'. Oh wait, we are supposed to hold democrats to a higher standard then republicans. Got it.
Rick-3416939
Oh yes... the lies matter on both sides of the aisle, but show me one republican that admits they have lied. We'll wait.... oh and yes, democrat spending. Yes, forget the GOP voting 19 times to raise the debt ceiling, the 5 TRILLION added to our national deficit under BUSH, for a combined 11 TRILLION. OH yes, only the democrats spend? Give us a break. Both parties need to stop spending. Typical right... hold the democrats to a higher standard than the republicans.
"Hillary is contesting 2016 elections!"
And it Republicans give us the likes of Perry, Bachmann, Pizza Man, Gingrich, Santorum and similar fools, she will win a in a landslide.
wolfhound27,
There are women who are serving in the U.S. military and who feel discriminated against because they are not allowed to fly combat missions.
We need this great woman to become president of the United States in 2016.
All one has to do is read the numerous misogynistic comments here to see where the problem lies.
We need to raise our male children to treat females with respect, to consider them their equals, and to understand how the marginalization of women hurts society.
It seems that it may already be too late for the current generation.
Just remember this, fellas: The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.
"Personally, I feel that young women should be required to register for the draft just as young men are required to."
Well -- we don't have a draft but if we did, I would agree with drafting women. And -- if we had a draft, I highly doubt we would be ready to fight a war at the drop of a hat like we were when Bush was in office. In the Vietnam era, people generally supported the war --- until the student deferments ran out and middle class white kids started coming home in body bags.
The old sow is at it again! This is the drumbeat that you will hear from now on. Right up to her run for the Presidency in 2016!
she may well be the first women/Lesbian President! But, she will be the second Communist President behind Obamination!
Women are an equal to men in intelligence but the comparison ends there! Women can do certain things better then a man could and men do certain things better than a women!
Men do best when they act like men and women do best when they act like women! When either try to conform to different rules they become less then what they are!
People should celebrate what they are and ignore those who want to change them! Trying to make yourself something you are not leaves you less then you were and no where near what you hoped to become!
As for a women President, I would prefer Condoleezza Rice! The women is beautiful, intelligent and charming! She thinks well on her feet and would be an exceptional President !
"Like Obama not supporting gays until election time."
Yep -- President Obama flipped on that issue. Romney flipped on just about every issue and kept flipping during the campaign. You name it -- Romney was for then against it then for it then against it.
Actually, and I am just stating this for factual purposes, to those who have claimed otherwise, US Selective Service requires all males 18-25 in the US to sign up for the possibility of conscipted millitary service. Which means that at any time Congress and the President can re-enstate the draft, and all males in that age group would already be considered signed up for selection in a lottery. Women are exempted from this requirement.
So yes, there still is a draft, even though we do not currently use it, that could literally change at any moment.
Nothing like a group of religious wind bags who claim the Constitution is being destroyed, but then deny the very first right of ANY HUMAN BEING of being equal.
Wah wah wah! Women have better jobs in the US than most men! Women are holding key roles in corporations more than ever. This is called improvement.
The real plight is for women in muslim countries where their so-called religion toelrates treating them lower than a dog.
This coming from faithful watchers of the faux, who only a month ago were completely convinced that their guy was going to win, in a landslide.
O M G
Up is down - right is wrong - smart is stupid - true is false - reasonable is insane
Look no further than our faithful right wing to see what a daily cultivation of misinformation, no curiosity, cynicism and negativity can do to otherwise well intentioned people.
In other words, y'all are being used.
The Other day, a woman charged her boyfriend with rape because he didn't satisfy her sexually.
As long as there are women who will do things like that NOTHING Hillary or any other woman says will change the way the Police/Politicians/Men will look at us.
We need to change our own perceptions of who/what we are as people, for others to change their views.
We want to be treated with respect, while we don't take responsibility for our own actions. We want our "Right" to be an adult sexual person, but we want to make sure that someone else is paying for our birth control. And if Whoops!!! we didn't get any in time we want our "Right" to dispose of that little problem.
For every time we need a LAW to guarantee our RIGHTS, we show just how unable we are to make those decsions.
JSF,
Why should anyone?
Pull your head out of your butt. The reason why is because there are people out there willing to fly a plane into a building to kill your children and husband. Think smarter. There's the way it's supposed to be... and the way it is. People like you can sit around holding hands chanting 'Kum-by-a' all day long, but that won't impede your enemies resolve. And, yes.... as an American , you have enemies. Snap out of it, you whiney knucklehead. Your point was well taken, wolfhound. Don't let this knucklehead obstruct your reasonable and reality-based line of questioning.
When I read any comments from the so-called conservatives, they make me feel like I'm visiting an undeveloped and uneducated third world country. These right wing nuts so so friggin' primitive! They're evolution in reverse! I'm afraid pretty soon they will revert themselves to living in caves, holding a club and dragging women by their hair. No wonder the gop politicians are working so hard to de-fund education in this country. With such primitive minds, it's a total waste to educate them!
If that's the case, then women from Niger, Mali and Uganda should rule the world. They have the top three birth rates in the world.
"... where the male leaders meet with me because I am the secretary of state of the United States, overlooking the fact that I also happen to be a woman."
You know, in America, we're expected to overlook the fact that you're a woman, any woman in fact, and see you only for your job title. And now you're saying that's wrong?
And then you see the men only for being male leaders, displaying the ever present and typical double-standard. For *&^#'s sake, woman!

Hillary Clinton
Amazing women ..... and then there are the Newsvine nasty trolls.
She was such a wonderful role model While her Husband was busy Raping and Molesting the woman he worked around, she stood by her POS man because it helped her Politicaly, maybe had she been more of a Wife and Mother and not trying to Pad her Pockets and Political stance in the world she could have kept her Husband from violating other women. Its thanks to her and Feminists like her that have made it mandatory that woman have to hold down a job and hire others to raise their children,as well as woman who wait too long to have children for their career and end up with expensive baby making technique's,as well as children disability's because they wait till after 40yrs old to finilaly decide they can put their selfish carrers aside.I have sons and Daughters and I do not value my sons more,it's just obsurd,I have worked in construction around mostly men and because I worked my Azz off and didn't pull the sexual harassment card when I would hear a off color joke or when they are guy talking,I found walking away works great if your offended, instead of threatening their livelyhood,I know of one gal who had a man fired for calling her Honey...I call men and woman Hun,darlin, sweetheart ect terms of endearment,I was paid just as much as the men and treated like one of the guys,I even met my Husband in that male dominated job and still almost 20 yrs later have lasting friendships with many of those men and their family's,There is no war on Wemon, only on white men and Family's.
As far as other Country's like the ME yes there they have a war on Wemon but what has Hillery done? She can't even take care of her US job properly, there are 4 women without husbands because of her and her cronies being incompitant, where was she when she should have been helping with the Benghazi investigation? We can be sure as long as Obama is in Office we will never know what happened and who should be in jail for Treason.Have a great day libbys, hope your all riled up,I know you are :)
here is the FINAL WORD on the Clinton Legacy.
She may have tried to further the cause for women. However, as Sec of State, she was weak and perceived as such.
SHE CONTINUED to support and stay with the biggest demean er of women; Bill Clinton....
the woman has no credibility!
this woman STILL around?
Cite your source please, Janine.
Alan Dershowitz made the observation that rape is simultaneously the most under-reported and the most over-reported crime on the books. I find the claim plausible and the source believable.
@wolfhound27 -- when they let us. But perhaps you hadn't noticed that many women already do enlist in the military, and have been asking to be allowed into combat.
When will men like you recognize women as an equal, or in your case, your superior?
Janine:
Last time I checked, the much, much higher number of men who rape or sexually assault women doesn't diminish the role men play in our society. That one woman you singled out is an abhorrent person who doesn't deserve to breathe as far as I'm concerned, but your argument makes no sense.
I am really proud of Hillary. When she was running for President against Obama, he got a Free Pass on the questions, while she was asked the most difficult ones. As Secretary of State, she was taking the phone calls when the President didn't want to answer them. The President wouldn't respond to calls for Help coming directly into his office. I don't know all of the facts; however, when the President of the United States won't take responsibility for his complete disregard of our people in Libya, it was Hilary who showed true leadership & took responsibility for what had happened. Good God; if she didn't do it, there would still be no one who would! WTF! Can't people see both sides of the situation? I'm talking about the plight of the human race. Hillary is a Lady & she is a strong leader. She was speaking from her heart concerning the plight of women in other countries. Ladies & Gentlemen; there is descrimination against human beings in the Western World-Both Men & Women. I'm an old-fashioned lady, and I'm going to be 48 years old. The most important thing in life to me are relationships-friends & family. I value a husband & children over a career anyday! However, I've never yet gotten married because nothing has ever worked out for me. I hope that I will at least get married-whether I have any kids or not is up to God. I love children & wish I were married & had some kids. I'll tell you; here in the Western World; many women are dehumanizing themselves by the way they "don't dress" & I am sick & tired of young girls etc. etc. walking around dressed like Sluts. You will be treated by how you dress (but, not that alone). I'm sick & tired of pornography; there is practically no where you can go without seeing this stuff from Hell. I wish parents &/or a single parent would teach their children Something instead of leaving it up to the schools entirely. Stop allowing your daughters to dress like Hookers! It matters; and that's the message their sending out to the world! I am a very well educated person; but still, relationships, a husband & children are my priority. Yes; there are real women left in this country. If you're a very intelligent woman though; it is very hard sometimes to find a guy that isn't intimidated by it. However, since I love someone older than me; I'll have try to get the best job I can. However, this guy realizes that without him, I don't have the confidence in myself by myself; without him; he cheers me on & encourages me to go out there & try! I need his support! Let's be good to one another! I'm a Conservative person who is able to put myself in the shoes of others; & I often change my position to the Liberal side. We can all learn something from each other! PEACE Be With You; Everyone.
How any sane talking big like Hillary can even meet leave alone supporting House of Saud ruler with 5000 princes and princesses and their big harems?
US, British and West have kept the Sunni rulers of House of Saud, Qatari, Kuwait, UAE and others on the map by even deploying soldiers even without Bibles when required!
Still many like Hillary talk big about plight of women, human rights and so on!
Hillary is proving that lecturing, sometimes with sadness and moist eyes and so on are the easiest!
Steve, your lies demonstrate that you are from the right.
If Obama was a Communist, this country would not have the vital capitalist incentives that are in place for a productive society. Glaringly, you would not be allowed to type your rantfull and baseless statements about President Obama.
Your above statement is true.
Thus, we have the best reason as to why we should educate females as aggressively as we do males.
Importantly, women tend to combine intelligence with compassion.
Agreed. Women who are great in math should be allowed to become mathematicians.
America does not want to see the elitists and failed policies of the right.
Condoleezza Rice endorsed Romney for president. Her endorsement did not show good judgement
Susan Rice for Secretary of state.
My first statement got collapsed. I guess it just proves how fearful men really are!!! hahahaha
Ster2, after wading through your poorly written, misspelled and badly punctuated comment, I have to wonder how you have the audacity to call Hillary Clinton incompetent.
Are you claiming that you could do a better job than she has done? You can't even write a sentence.
It's like Ann Romney said, "This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring."
I'll bet Hillary would never pretend that she could do construction work better than you.
This is simply not true. Different parts of the world have different customs for naming their children. Many, many places do not carry the name through the male lineage. Some cultures carried it through the female in the past, but don't any more.
First off, this article does not seem to specifically mention women's rights in the U.S. It only mentions other countries in which women have it bad, and it's a tragedy that women in these countries are persecuted just because they wanted to a choice in how to live their lives. Hillary is absolutely right in bringing up this issue in regards to those places.
However, that's not to say there's no more sexism in the U.S., because there is. It's still alive here, but people are just quieter about it because they don't want to get hit with a lawsuit for discrimination. With the power of the internet and anonymity, the sexist men of this country are able to go online, complain about women, and not get into any trouble, provided they don't reveal their true name. Now I understand their points about how women have it too easy, that they have everything handed to them without them, etc. Here's the problem though: NOT EVERY WOMAN IS LIKE THAT. A lot of the people I see using this argument make it sound like every woman is guilty of this, and that's simply not true. I for one studied hard in college, applied to every job I could after graduation, worked my butt off at two part time jobs, and eventually got promoted to full time at one of them. I did NOT have that handed to me; I worked hard and applied myself to get that position.
And then there's the people who argue about women having too many rights, say that men should have the same treatment too, and then end with saying that women who complain must "get back in the kitchen". You DO realize that if women were did that, then we wouldn't have rights anymore, right? Therefore your equality plea is invalid because the genders wouldn't be equal anymore. We'd be at the same point we were around 50-60 years ago, where men had most of the power while the women had next to none.
I've seen sexism on this site, MSNnow, Youtube, IMDb, and many other places, and it has me afraid of what the future holds. Some of the comments I see are mild, but then there's the extremists who have actually gone as far as to say that women need to be knocked down a peg so that they LOSE rights. I see comments on here that say "it needs to be equal, men are getting lesser treatment than women, it needs to be fixed". If it does get fixed, can the fixers really be trusted? How do we know the issue won't simply be flip-flopped which would result in the men getting too much power and the women getting screwed over?
Of course it pains you to see countries run by men. Youve sworn allegiance to the one who's sole objective is to overturn Gods intentions. You haven't fooled us, enough of us know the score. When it hits the fan people will know exactly who to blame.
The words "equal" does not mean that we are the same, we can be equal while being different. And the name thing is getting outdated, quite a few chose to bear either their father's name or their mother's name. Also if you ever do genealogic research, you will realise that you actually research both sides (i.e. mother and father, and same with all the ancestors), the father's last name is just one side of your ancestry.
And as far as religion goes, the Holy books were all written by men so nothing surprising there.
First of all Freud was a sick man, read about his life. In his time women didn't have many choices of jobs, if a woman wanted to be a doctor he assumed she wanted to be a man since it was a man's job at the time. It was not a fact, it was his perception, and most men of his time probably thought the same.
So many women keep seeing a Freudian psychiatrist and never solve their issues, no wonder since they believe that everything is related to sex (sure sex matters, but no not everything has something to do with it) and that women want to be men, they should see a Jungian they understand human nature so much more.
@ KayBeeToys
Just remember this, fellas: The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world
Apparently not, or you wouldnt be claiming America is full of chauvinists and racists.
Perhaps the hand that can deliver food?
To all the women posting
Women are the better of the two sex's. You comfort, you have a sense about things that allows humans to progress beyond what we were in the caves 10,000 years ago. We owe the continued growth of the human race to women. Why I honor and love my precious wife so much.
However, the reason why men are and will continue to be the dominant of the two sexes on the planet is one simple indisputable reason. The universe is a harsh unforgiving place.
The universe doesnt care about emotions and feelings. It only rewards cold, brutal, logic. Men are exactly built for this type of interaction. Men are expendable when compared to women. Real men will kill, gut, torture and slash if necessary, in order to maintain survival. (Any man who claims he will not, has no way of protecting his family) This is why men will continue until the end of time to dominate the world, because we can and will. Women just don't think domination all day long...it's why they are better.
With all of this being said. Men, we need to recognize that behind every good man is a great woman.
Hillary is spot on. People take it sometimes granted. The liberties, the freedoms, the equal opportunity.... it all is hard fought and every generation needs to fight to keep it that way. Same with women.
Coming from India, I always thought that women were more equal in US. But after 12 years of stay here, i think while what I believed is true - there is still a long way to go for American women as well. Imagine then what it would be like for a woman in Sahara or Bangladesh.
Interestingly - I found here in US that Japanese society although a very advanced one is still quite backward on women's freedoms compared to India. And then I realized that economic progress doesn't necessarily guarantee gender equality nor civil liberties.
Bravo secretary clinton for speaking on the topic.
Why are there far more Indian Males coming here for work versus Women? I seriously doubt it is because our tech industry refuses to hire women. American women have superb opportunity in this country. My daughters have the edge in most situations with hiring preferences and are independent, critical thinkers. Comparing Indian society to American Society in terms of equality of the sexes OR segments of society (Casts) is a no brainer.
PJ-1795048- Just curious here but, what exactly is it that you cannot do here in America?
What rights do others have that you do not?
The United States would better be served with a woman as a vice-president at this time in our history. It is true that women are seen as sub-creatures in many other countries, both friend and foe. Our country would be better represented by a male in so many of the foreign countries.
Being female, I hate to admit that, but it is true. We are still not equal in the United States. Until women are actually seen as being equal, a male is better for handling a lot of the foreign affairs and dealing with other governments and countries.
We females still need equality here in the United States. At least start with a woman as vice-president. That would be the best start.
Hillary is an expert on theories and poor on actions!
Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice have both done excellent jobs. However, the world is becoming more divided by radical religions and dictators. The United States really need a male in any positions of higher power to deal with these radicals. There are too many countries with leaders that do not see women as people of power.
Let us start with a female vice-president. That would help us more in our own country. It may also help to have the male species do the actual talking to the radical countries leaders. We women can always guide them if they can not do the job!
Only the immature and childish still think equality means sameness, rather than equal opportunity.
I suspect this article was written as part of the firestorm over the recent "War on Men" article earlier this
What's the feminist response to accusations that women treat men unfairly? "But they treat us unfair..." Even if we assumed it was true, that doesn't make it right for men to be mistreated by women.
This article is the usual progressive tripe that harps on the "oppression" of one group by others. Rather than taking a balanced approach that acknowledges the good along with the bad, we focus on the bad- because that's where the sympathy that gives activists the license they feel they have to "do something about it."
How rich is this!!!
Hillary Clinton is in NO position to tell other women how to rise above oppressors when she allows herself to be continually emotionally-abused by her own husband !!!
Bill Clinton victimized women in the workplace. In Arkansas and in Washington, this man preyed upon the insecurities of women and coaxed them into inappropriate and adulterous relations with him.
Yet THIS man is the chief voice of the Democratic Party- and the man Hillary Clinton continues to make a life with !
Am I the only one taken aback by the absurdity and hypocrisy of it all ?! More and more I'm convinced liberals and progressives are control freaks trying to right everyone else's ship as therapeutic relief from their inability to get their own house in order.
Hillary Clinton worried about women? For real?! Hillary needs to worry about Hillary first!
oy-vay then what in this country can a male do that a female can NOT do. Sure they can NOT use the mens room, just like us men can NOT use the womens room. So is that fair. Why are we not allowed to use the womens room the view is better and they usally have the freshy stuff in there.
I see where the women are more pampered than men, when are we going to get the same treatment.
I'd be the last one to excuse Bill Clinton for his depraved behavior, but one thing I've observed over the years is that no one can see inside the marriage of another couple.
Hillary Clinton chose to stay with Bill, and he seems to have tuned over a new leaf. Bill admitted that he had a problem and sought help for it. When was Bill last accused of adultery? He seems devoted to Hillary and to helping her in any way that he can. For all you know, they have a far better marriage than the Reagans with all their showy, simple-minded 'devotion'.
How exactly is Bill continuing to "emotionally abuse" Hillary? The only way you would be able to answer that convincingly would be if you were their marriage therapist...in which case you'd be violating your professional ethics in disclosing that information.
The best advice for those trying to judge the marriage of another couple:
MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS
steve- I agree. I think Hillary Clinton, like many liberals, have this need for emotional commiseration on non-issues.
It's usually more about building alliances over grievances and getting people their side than it is about affecting change. We're currently awash in a culture of whining and complaining.
Rather than being grateful for what we have, we lament what we don't have- and what evil person is standing in our sanctified way. Hillary's diatribe is nothing more that.
Kaybee- if you need to see inside their marriage to know that it's not healthy and Bill's serial philandering is inappropriate, you only see what you want to see.
That is exactly what conservatives do.
I asked the question: when was Bill Clinton last accused of adultery? You are accusing him of it in present tense.
Do you know something the rest of us don't know?
Man, the human race is really running out of legitimate problems to solve.
Wow
The testosterone reek is in full bloom today. Your very attitude is the problem. Do you really loath woman (your Moms, sisters.Wife) or are you just playing macho DE macho? you know the fear some men feel when a strong woman gets close. Buck up grow up and stop whining. Males have beaten, raped, tortured and killed woman, children & each other for century's If more "females were in power of this world A lot of the problems would have been fixed a long time ago. Males (not all) like to play games...war games, king of the hill games, Monopoly. Times are changing, some men need to stop dragging your knuckles on the ground and catch up. The youth will change everything for the better.
Say's the person whining and complaining. Sorry but I see little constructive in your posts. You seem bitter and angry with few specifics.
@Proud to be liberal, I was not talking about myself. I am saying American women are certainly much more free compared to Indian women. But they are still discriminated against in workplace. Wage parity doesn't exist. They are yet to become a president. August golf course is famous for its male members only .... and it is only one of so many. So I think American women while freeer than women from many other countries - have still a way to go.
PJ-1795048 - Women still have a way to go before what?
If women don't like the all-male golf clubs, then start an all female golf club. Why does everything that you want mean someone else has to give up what they want?
Wage parity doesn't really exist even between men. Usually, the pay of hourly workers is by a set scale, and sex has no effect on it. Salaried employees generally get the wage they are able to negotiate for depending upon how badly the company needs to fill the position at the time. There are no secret clubs that conspire to pay women less for the same jobs men do. Sheesh!
Women aren't free untill one becomes president? Then we will have to make sure to elect a gay president, a lesbian president, a transgendered president, an amputee president, a dwarf president, a president with tourette's syndrome, an overweight president...ad infinitum. Good grief!
@P2BL - how about just a woman president. I will let go my grief over not having a dwarf amputee gay president.
I remember a supervisor at Pacific Telephone tell me that I should give up my job because I was s single woman so that a man who had to support his family could have a job. That was in the mid 1970's.I told him if he could find a man who could support me in the manner that I'd like to become accustomed to I'd give up that job.He was speechless and the other male supervisors told him he was an(fill in the blanks). If women want equal jobs and opportunities then they have to fight for them. The fight for women's equality should still be fought around the globe including the U.S. by men and women.
@ PJ
I will let go my grief over not having a dwarf amputee gay president.
Why there is rampant discrimination against dwarf amputee homosexuals!
Maybe men just said, "how about just a male president" and decided to let go of their grief over not having a president at all.
@ Proud 2B Liberal
I concur with your sentiments.
Our country is mistaking legitimate selection with legitimate discrimination. The time will come when there will be a woman President. But, we don't just do it for the sake of quelling paranoia.
Hillary's concerns are a big reason why a woman should not be secratary of state. Since she is a woman she lacks the respect to solve problems overseas in amny countries. Leaders simply don't care what she has too say. The way other countries think of woman is thier business. We will never change that and it is not our place to try. But if we are to accomplish anything like say, try to stop a war. We need to send someone the leaders will respect and listen too. That person can not be a woman in most countries. just because we have progessed in the US does not mean the rest of the world has too or ever will. We have to use tools that are most effective and a woman as Secretary of State is not and effective tool.
Avenger, you have inadvertently made the exact case for why Secretary Albright and Secretary Clinton were/are so important as US Secretaries of State. I weep for your daughter(s) if your solution to injustice is to bend to the will of those who would place 50% of our species on a second tier. WE choose who will represent our country. Many like you have often made the case for why a certain ethnic group or anyone else different should not be afforded the same rights and opportunites as others "because that is the way it has always been". Otherwise, just line right up with the Taliban and shoot little girls in the face for daring to be educated.
Add in Secretary Rice to the above too please! :)
a huge step towards equality would be females registering for the draft.why not? men have to.
Conscription in the US officially ended in 1973. Current registration for males is a contingency which our country has obviously not used through many wars since then. I have no philosophical problem with women also being required to register, but practically since our country has no political will to reinstitute the draft this is more a red herring in gender wars than anything else.
NO NO NO All the more reason to send a woman
This is all smoke and mirrors. Just like that of war mongering Obama's Nobel Peace Prize. Clinton's statements are beyond hypocritical, and are proof that a woman too can perpetuate patriarchy. The wars she is advocating(YES, OMG! A DEMOCRAT LOVES WAR TOO!!!) are the biggest stumbling block toward a world of equality that empowers women. Anyone who thinks bombing women around the world could possibly be the best way to secure women's rights is a psychopath.
I disagree.
History had many great women leaders of nations.
Hillary has not been consistent in her actions and forceful. Instead it looked like that she more concerned about 2018 Presidential bid.
So she tried to please Jewish lobby, oil companies lobby, Christain right, females and so on without not achieving much.
As a matter of fact, her actions in Libya, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria and Iran were disgraceful!
Billery should be fired for the murder of her Ambassador in Benghazi and 3 other American heroes. She hides from having to testify before Congress for her disgraceful failure and goes to Australia for wine tasting and anywhere else. Damn her and Obama for Benghazi.
Correction please: It is not 2018 election, but 2016!!!
She has prepared during her tenure for lots of campaign contributions! She did not know much about the rest.
She will be remembering females and so on from now on!
You see: votes are very important!
Change every "woman" to "black" in your comment, and then come back and let us know if your opinion still stands.
Americans need to open their eyes and look beyond our borders. It's a big world out there and women are half of it. What happens in other countries IS our business and DOES need our attention. Human rights are not just for Americans! We comprise only five percent of the world's population.
Every human being deserves respect and equality. Unless that is the goal we are working toward, mankind will never be safe, healthy and prosperous or live in peace together on Planet Earth.
"a huge step towards equality would be females registering for the draft.why not? men have to"
Perhaps when women are allowed equal access to all jobs in the military, even combat roles and thus their promotions can be equal to the men. And while we're in the subject, I served in the military voluntarily. Have you?
The number of sexist comments on this board is staggering; it's good to know that this type of thought is alive and well here in the gold ole' us of a. It's just not tolerated in the open, but there are amazing numbers of men that are still threatened by their female counterparts. This will probably take a number of generations to get rid of. No where has that been more apparent than with Hillary; she has certainly not been perfect but I've tuned in to Fox news and talk radio only to hear them making comments about the size of her rear end. Huh? What does that have to do with anything? I don't hear comments about the fat rear end or fat guts made about the men making poor decisions. I'm lucky that my husband is man enough to support me in the traditionally male based (but high paying) career I have; I'm going to surprise him with something special tonight.
rightwingscrewball: I have a dear daughter too!
You people are taking my comments in the wrong manner.Which frankly does not surprise me.Very few on these boards actully read what is written but inject thier own hypocryicies into a comment.
I in no way shape or form said that a woman was not as capable or qualified for the job of Secretary of State. My comment was simply saying that a woman will be less effective than a man IF effective at all in many many countries around the world simply because she is not male. It doesn't matter how we feel about woman here ,it matters how the people the United States needs to deal with feel about a womans place in society and power. If the leaders of a country are not going to listen to a female because they feel superior to them, Then to send a female to negotiate is pretty futile.
wolfhound27.When was the last man drafted in the U.S.?
one big step for womenkind
i look forward to seeing you at your local draft board when you register.
Hillary wears Pant suits all the time. so tell me how is this a big step for woman kind. to be a phony? I`m sorry Lynn., but you need to have better choices on who you deem a role model for woman ., because Hillary is authorizing the killing of innocent people in Syria. that isn`t a woman trait., if woman kind is following a pattern which defeats the purpose of woman kind., to bring forth life.,what other greater purpose should woman have?all else is second.Hillary acts like a woman who loves Israel and at the same time forming legislation to make Israel more hated for corporate profits.. you need to learn honey.soon too.
Wolf, stop making yourself look senile and foolish, over and over, on every section of this blog. There is no U.S. draft, hasn't been almost 40 years.
If staying with a man who does you dirty is a role model for women, count me out!
I would be happy to register in the selective service! I once asked at the Post Office if I could and the clerk said I was free to but most likely it would be kicked back.
It is time to lobby the congress to change the law.
Is she going with the Clay Matthews look and trying to beat the all-time(insert Michael Buffer voice) "Political UGLY Champion of the World" Janet Reno?
or
Maybe Hillary can show some heart to the America people and get Ambassador Stevens family a YouTube subscription for Christmas.
or
Do some real homework and learn the real truth of Hillary's "Great Friend" Inez McCormack. Who is a part of Transparency(sound like a certain catch word from a guy you know) International known for it shakedowns with false reports extorting money from governments.
MS/NBC pushing the Socialist Agenda daily.......hell this place makes Fox News look good.
You would have to be a complete fool to believe this crud.
So a woman showing concern for other women is pushing the socialist agenda? And you hate filled neanderthals wonder why you lost the election.
@Larry: It is "you people" that will be standing there, alone, with nothing, hungry, cold, miserable and somehow.....somehow you will still BLAME someone else. Like an epidemic! Seriously! Where was Hillary when she was going to get questioned about Benghazi? She deserves to be brought to trial for knowingly KILLING Americans over there. Her along with YOUR president and everyone that was in the know. Funny how you feel it was a victory that the same man that has buried the US (which I am sure you will say it was because of a republican president previously) for 4 years and then you re-elect him? Amazing the amount of ignorance that runs rampant in the US today. Amazing.
I am pretty sure this will get many thumbs down because of those that read all of the propoganda and truly believe it as gospel. Like lemmings off of a cliff, really really
@tiredofloosers, I'm really tired of loosers myself. If you have no respect for women in their job positions than have no respect for your wife or daughter. You in reality are no better than the Taliban or any other Muslim group. If my daughter came home with a looser like you I would proudly show you my guns and let you know I only miss about 1 out of 50 shots and by no more than a wisker, which means that you are still dead.
For a country to not be respectful to another countries dignitary (male or female) is to disrespect that country period. These countries would be disrespecting us even if we sent a male represenative.
You know Looser keep your attiude and you will always be a looser.
Commonsense: Though you show little common sense. When you bring Bush and Cheney to trial for the thousands of deaths they caused by falsifying information to make Saddam look like he was producing WMD we'll talk. You blame Hillary and Obama for not giving people the facts quick enough but that's hardly the same as manufacturing facts to clean up daddy's failure like Bush did. If they had came out on day one and said it was a terrorist attack and not spontaneous would the result be different? Get over your hate and judge Obama and Clinton by the same standards you judge Bush.
6dogs. It's spelled loser. Looser is like change.
6CORNdogs: just your spelling alone shows your intelligence level.
Larry- calling people names and throwing the "hate" card only means that you have no substantive response.
In case you haven't heard, we women aren't perfect. We make mistakes and we aren't without fault.
As a woman, I can attest that women have done more to stand in the way of my progress than most men I've worked with. It got to the point where I dreaded the idea of having female superiors because of the silly games women play with other women.
Men definitely have some things to work on. But,we women need to focus on ourselves rather than always fighting for the right to do the same stupid things men do that we've complained about so much.
Oy-vay: I think responding to someone referring to those who disagree with him as socialists deserves a less than polite response. As for substantive, my post is more so than yours. Yours is a general rant without any specific point. Nothing you point out about being treated poorly by other women negates this article about Hillary supporting women in other parts of the world where women have little or no rights nor does bad behavior by some women excuse bad behavior by men. You need to look beyond your personal experience and consider those who really have it tough.
My boss is a woman. Really nice lady. As for your description of most women in the work place, where do you work, daycare? Your name fits you.
AH!!! Memories of than President Bill Clinton & Monica Lewinsky, Bill treated her sooooo well. Lots of respect? Bill threw Monica & her stained dress under the million dollar bus!
lee, still jealous after all these years? Get over it. I would rather have a President who gets a blow job than one that sends 4,000 kids to die for nothing including my grandson. Bush should be tried as a war criminal. He's a POS.
Rich: Amen.
Rick:
Still blaming Bush? You don't remember when Muslim terrorist hijacked 5 planes & killed 3000 Americans? After all these years you still in denial & blame Bush, even before Bush inherited Clinton's mess....
Rich- Get over it already- BO is sending our kids to die as well and you support him? Hypocrite!
Rich and Larry:
Answer this:
"On top of previous reinforcements already sent this year, the troop buildup will nearly triple the American military presence in Afghanistan that Mr. Obama inherited when he took office and represents a high-stakes gamble by a new commander in chief that he can turn around an eight-year-old war that his own generals fear is getting away from the United States."
And what results have we had in that country besides more dead sons and daughters?
Place Blame where Blame is Due
The only mess Clinton made was on Monicas dress. And you on the right blame Obama for finishing Bush's war but would be calling for his impeachment had he left and let it fall back into the Talibans hands. If you want to find a hypocrite find a mirror. The build up was based on advice from top commanders in Afganistan that they requested. The same generals that advised Bush.
Obama seems to be doing his best so US can exit without looking like dogs as they did in Nam, as they clambered aboard the last chopper.
Best news in decades came today with Pakistan starting to deal with Taliban
Good advice. You should try following it.
And what mess did Bush inherit from Clinton? Freaking Troll!! Just look at the mess Bush left this country in and tell me that. Not to mention there is still that missing 1 Trillion that Cheney misplaced that hasn't been found yet. What about when Enron was screwing the heck out of California and they were asking for help to find out why it was happening and Bush said,"Tell the people of California to pay there Electric Bill and their problem would go away." Don't even get me started on Iraq and, especially, the properganda campaign the would have made Hitlers' Chest stand out. $13.3 trillion of Debt. 3.5 trill of it was unknown of because we don't have to War Debt while the War is going on. That was 3.5 trill extra that Obama inherited. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface with Bush.
Clinton left Bush a balanced budget and a 4.2% unemployment rate unlike the 7.9% unemployment rate, an economy in collapse, a stock market at 7900 and a 1.2 trillion dollar deficit. Republicans are mad because we wouldn't go for Bush three with Romney.
Larry-367607
He also left Bush OBL
Larry- no one who is supporting Obama should ever mention anything about a balanced budget. I am not supporting Bush in any way, but even the Democrats laugh at Obama's plans.
Clinton didn't leave Bush a balanced budget dummy. He was smart enough to let the Repubs in the house and senate get it balanced after his failures. You like many other libs think the budget is by the president. It is the House and Senate that control it, and in 2007 the dimwhitcraps took the house and senate and destroyed the economy.
I get so sick and tired of hearing about how Bush was the cause of the economy's collapse. Well, Mr. Obama got elected again by blaming the economy on President Bush and having the uninformed and uneducated actually believe it. Well, it just goes to show that if you repeat something enough times to enough people MAYBE it can be perceived as fact.
Now it is true that the President did sign legislation that had a direct effect on the collapse of our economy.
1- Signing the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which repealed the Glass-Steagall Act, a key piece of banking regulation.
2- Signing the Commodity Futures Modernization Act exempting credit-default swaps from regulation.
3- Rewriting the Community Reinvestment Act, which put added pressure on banks to lend in low-income neighborhoods.
Now before you start typing "I told you so" in a fevered pace, I would be remiss as not to state which President was responsible (or irresponsible as it were) for the above actions and the ultimate downfall of our economy.
Sorry guys, but it was your beloved William Jefferson Clinton with lovely bride Hillary at his side as second in command.
But, repeat things enough times...........
I'll bet Bush ate your homework too.
Bush's last budget which ran from Oct. 2008 through Oct. 2009 had a 1.2 trillion deficit. Had Obama simply ran Bush's last budget our deficit would still be 15.7 trillion. You bash Obama for the deficit but ignore who created it. Bush created the 1 trillion+ deficit by cutting revenue 400 billion a year, a 100 billion drug plan and running two wars off the books. The first time in history we haven't raised taxes during a war and he did it twice. The only major program Obama created was Obamacare. You can bitch about the additional taxes but unlike Bush at least he paid for it. Bush's tax cut for the rich was sold as creating jobs and yet during his 8 years he had the lowest average job growth since WW2.

8.9%
Just another point you do NOT see men being able to suck a president off. Just women and not that good looking ones at that. when are the men going to have the same opportunities that women have.
WOW larry now we are comparing apples to oranges. we have OBAMA in the hot seat now. not little willy, the person that had bin laden in his sights before 911 happened, and let him GO.
Steve: Wow you're a sharpie. Clinton failed to get Osama before 9-11. I guess the white house psychic was out of town so he couldn't see the future. Just FYI. Obama has created more total jobs in 4 years then Bush did in 8. And before you talk about under employed or those no longer looking there were those under Bush as well. You can't simply bump up the numbers because you don't like a president.
Steve: Give Clinton a call. Maybe he swings both ways.
Clinton came up with a surplus when he changed the way the Social Security trust fund was viewed!
Clinton decided that the IOU's this government to Social Security were not to be counted, that Social Security was an entitlement and those IOU's could be thrown out! Bingo, no interest to pay on them, no longer having to count them in the countries debt ceiling!
Nothing but blue skies did he see! Thus a supposedly surplus brought about by accounting tricks! Something he has passed on to Obamaination!
When the IOU's were figured back in, Walla, no more surplus! Dam that Bush!
Viet vet: If a man has been president for 8 years initiating all policies related to our economy and it does a meltdown the last 6 months of his presidency then yes he is responsible. If policies were enacted that threatened our economy from past years then 8 years as president should have been enough to ferret them out. Clearly your bias is so extreme you'll never see the forest for the trees. You blame Obama for the meltdown even though it occurred before he was elected and hold Bush blameless. Bush's budget ran from Oct. 2008 through Oct. 2009 with a 1.2 trillion deficit but republicans blame Obama on January 1st, 2009. Bush cut revenue by 3.5 trillion during his presidency to create jobs yet he only created 3 million jobs over 8 years, the worst record since WW2. Clinton created 25 million in the same time with no cut.
And cutting revenue 400 billion a year while conducting 2 wars off the books were all on the up and up right? How did that 400 billion a year to the rich work out on job creation? Oh that's right he created a total of 3 million jobs over 8 years the worst growth since WW2. Clinton created 25 million in 8 years and Obama almost 5 in 4 years after the worst meltdown since 1929.

Spoken like a true Democrat. Nothing is their fault. Not slight of hand accounting, not pushing through social programs (Community Reinvestment Act) not deregulation of key pieces of legislation to safeguard our country from the economic collapse. Just the same bull crap. Bush's fault, Bush's fault.
The fact that our current President has declared every problem he has confronted with the "Blame Bush" answer is merely a matter of public record.
Let me ask you this, who is Mr. Obama going to blame for the previous 4 years.
Oh right, the Republicans.
HE wanted the job. HE said he had the answers.
HE needs to start taking responsibility.
You folks really deserve EVERYTHING that you are going to get.
And as far as Ms Hillary as President. The middle east will laugh in her face.
At least "Slick Willy" can go back to having sex with interns in the White House.
Funny how I post facts and all you right wingers can do is cry. Luckily the majority of Americans do blame Bush 58% to Obama at 39% because they have the ability to reason. You never see anyone on the right post any numbers proving their point. Your rants didn't help you in the election and they won't help you now. If you want to blame Obama for all our ills back it up. We can prove what we claim. If the facts were on your side you'd be able prove it.
Fact: Bush's last budget ran from Oct. 2008 through Oct. 2009 with a 1.2 trillion deficit.
Fact: Had Obama simply ran Bush's last budget without a dime of additional spending the deficit would still be 15.7 trillion.
Prove me wrong. I dare you.
What she says is true especially in Middle Eastern Countries. As far as in this country do we have along way to go? No, we have no honor killings in our culture, or the other mindless violence that is condoned and even encouraged against women.
Like what? Kindly back these claims with examples of things that happen regularly. Isolated incidences involving people who just moved to the country don't count.
Exceptions to the rule are just that- exceptional.
Lee, when will you nut bag Republicans learn there is a difference between cheating on your wife and dropping bombs on women and children that had nothing to do with your country being attacked so your buddies could get rich from wars?
Don't forget the drone attacks , this current President is doing.
rgculver- those don't count because it is helping the push of the Brotherhood
rgculver, you would prefer sending human's, instead of drone's?
We'd prefer a President who claims to care so much about combatants to try them in civil court to be consistent.
Try them in court- but kill them first without a trial if you can't. Make sense to you?
Liar. You'd be praising a republican president for taking out Osama and other Al'Queda leaders. You'll make no points crying about the civil rights of terrorists being killed. Trying to make such a point simply makes you look like a fool. Not even republicans would buy that nonsense.
When are you fu ckhead DEMORATS going to get your IGNORANT heads out of your asses.
You always wnat to start out the day by calling names I can do that too. I am as good as any DUMBORAT.
Have a nice day disrepectful gay boy
The difference larry is the republican president would only take credit for the hit not the info that allowed him to do it.
OBLAMER want to blame everything on BUSH except the part where Bush's intell got him the info to go after OBL in the first place. Yet OBLAMER wants to take all the credit.
Steve: Notice how I post actual facts and statistics backing up the cause of our debt yet all you do is rant? Try researching things like what Bush's last budget cost, "1.2 trillion" then multiply by 4 and you'll see that our debt would be nearly the same had we simply ran on Bush's last budget. The reason most Americans blame Bush for the meltdown and our huge deficit is because they can do simple math.
And you're probably right a republican president would probably take credit for the hit unlike a democrat who gives credit to those that actually do it. However I have no idea what you're talking about Bush's intell. The intelligence officials who located Bin Laden work for Obama not Bush. Now if you have proof Bush actually found Bin Laden himself and whispered in Obama's ear please post a source.
I do agree with more female equality in the U.S.In order to allow for more equality,All women within a certain age group should have to register for the same selective services DRAFT that all men have to.Women could and should be allowed to serve in any branch of the military INCLUDING combat!!!And i mean Infantry,Armor, and others who come into direct, personal contact with the enemy.Ladies,You may disagree with me on this but you will never be equal until you can be drafted like everyone else.
So let me get this straight, the only way you would take equality seriously if women were forced to fight the toddler-minded violence perpetrated by the male half of the human population???
Women certainly have their own methods of evil and stupidity but aren't prone to raping/killing/beating to push their own agenda. And the ones who do resort to violence inevitably learned it from the males in their life.
i am saying that if there is no difference between men and women that women should register for the draft just like MEN..plain and simple with no spin!!!!!!
Conscription in the US officially ended in 1973. Current registration for males is a contingency which our country has obviously not used through many wars since then. I have no philosophical problem with women also being required to register, but practically since our country has no political will to reinstitute the draft this is more a red herring in gender wars than anything else.
But the fact remains,Women want equality and that's fine with me.However,i do believe they should have to register even if it just a token example.you have to take the bad with the good.
O.K. already!
You sure got that idea stuck in your head, don't you Wolfhound?
Yeah, give it a rest already.
This is not because they wouldn't do that, but it's because they cannot do it. They lack the social, political, or physical strength to do the things that men do.
But don't kid yourself into thinking that because women can't means they wouldn't if they were given the opportunity.
Women and men are the same, we're all a bunch of ***holes.
Sounds like she is campaigning already......let's see she has been in politics Forever and now she wants women to be equal. She need not worry with Obama behind her she will win.
Hillary has a penchant for aligning herself with men who throw her under the bus.
Mr. "the buck stops with me" hid behind two women and never took responsibility for the security failures that led directly to the deaths of 4 people.
Hillary dutifully did those stupid Pakistani infomercials to distance the U.S. from that goofy YouTube trailer. Just like with Bill and the Lewinsky affair, she stood by her man while he lied about what "is" is.
/eyeroll
Pantsuit pachyderm projects ponderous poundage & appalling adiposity.
I assume all the republican bashing about women not having to sign up for the draft is their reasoning that women shouldn't have equal rights. Is that really what you're arguing? Since there hasn't been an actual draft since Vietnam none of you are forced to serve either. Give it a break.
Larry , i was simply saying if it is ok for men to have to register for the draft why would'nt it be ok for women to do the same?quit spining the words around it's turning your brain into scrambled eggs.
On an article about women's equality if your point wasn't justification for unequal rights what is the point?
hound, you are the one with a scrambled brain! Women do enlist, women do pull triggers, women do fly jets! Go ask the men who set up the draft why women don't have to register, since you think they're the God of equality!
WOW Jan where did he say they do NOT enlist. All he is saying if they want equal opportuity then shouldn't they also enjoy in on the same pains that us men have to endure.
I know you women want all the benefits that us men enjoy yet you do not want to do the dirty work that we have to do. How simple minded you are, just like the demorats. Now I see why you ignorant women voted for OBLAMER.
I say if you the same pay as I get and by the way the women in my office do get the same pay as us men do. so if you think for 1 minute that I treat women unfairly, you should ask them. they get 25 dollars per hour, actually more than that as they do NOT work a full 40 hours each week.
When I was working in the garage changing oil, greasing them and rebuilding the motors in the semi truck
Hey Butch, that is hilreeee, you are a joke to any party. Trying to recover from your failures at Bengazi? Most women deserve respect, but in your case you are obama's Monica L.
Uh, they are meeting with you because you're the SOS of US......why would they meet with you just because you're a woman ? I get your point about inequality & all, but I'd love to have my wife come home and say..." Honey I'm gonna get a great job, take care of everything, and all's you have to do is stay home and chill " Heaven !!
women want equality but they pick and choose the good side of the stick and never the smelly end...
If you wanted your wife to be the breadwinner while you would be a stay at home spouse, you should have had that discussion before you got married. If you did and she has reneged on your agreement that is one thing, but if you changed your mind and now resent her career choice it is unfair.
hound, you are the smelly end!
to brand HIllary as the best or most important secretary of state in history is an absurd overstatement. she appears to have taken on the self proclaimed role as missionary rather than SOS ! we have yet to hear her complete position on the Ben Ghazi debacle. Condaleeza Rice knew more by accident than Hillary on purpose but remained understated and classy!
Bill Clinton victimized women in the workplace. In Arkansas and in Washington, this man preyed upon the insecurities of women and coaxed them into inappropriate and adulterous relations with him.
Yet THIS man is the chief voice of the Democratic Party! As long Bill Clinton is held up and trotted out as 'their guy', Democrats make themselves the fool!
We don't care where he sticks his cigars as long as the recipient is willing. There's no denying we were in far better shape with him as president. If Clinton ran again against Bush then Bill would probably win in the biggest landslide in history. He had his vices as most presidents do but he'd still win hands down and you know it.
It "pains me" to hear her pontificate !!
You have got to give our Secretary of State Hilliary due respect for the incredible performance at her 4 year post. USA did need to put 'boots on the ground' in any North African Mediteranian conflagrations.
Kudos from this veteran,
i do think hillary would have taken a tougher stance on our enemies and would have been less afraid to use military might.Maybe we would have a stronger stance in the middle east rather than cutting and running like we seem to be now.
@wolfhound27, we have been cutting and running in the Middle East since WWII. Go read a little History, everything we have done over there is half-Azzed half stepping the whole time, not just lately.
Errata...did not
need toput boots on the groundEnkabob: Funny how you on the right demand such daunting experience by democrats that a woman who's served in the U.S. Senate and 4 years as Secretary of State is unqualified but a failed 1 time Governor is more than qualified to be president.
She talks like she is DEACON from the pulpit (a "Bleeding Deacon" that is). Isn't the Barack Obama Administration full of MEN - White Men especially. Why didn't Hillary chastise the President for NOT allowing more women in Cabinent positions? Her words don't mean much if any-thing if what she says in how all women are being treated is next door to her office.
Your probably the same type of person who thinks affirmative actions major failing is that it causes qualified withe people to be passed up in order to meet some diversity quota.
I'd vote for her in 2012, Would have prefered her over Obama. Main think I like about her, her husband is cool. :)
and he is such a good example of what a husband should be.......a cheater who craps on his family. You must have been one of the supporters of Teddy "drown my mistress for the good of women" Kennedy.
So what is so cool about bill Clinton? He purgered himself during his impeachment hearings, used the oval office as his own personal sex room, blew up a pharmaceutical plant overseas to try nd side step his affair, has more people around him who have died in murders and suicides than any one you have ever seen, was a drug runner and on and on. What is so cool?
Over Bill Clintons 8 years he created 25 million jobs without giving the rich 400 billion a year to "create jobs". Bush over 8 years created a total of 3 million jobs by giving them 400 billion a year and the right wonders why we don't buy trickle down. Reagan ran as a fiscal conservative and doubled our debt. Bush did the same but tripled it. Had Bush never enacted his tax cuts and paid for his wars and drug plan we'd have no debt. Probably half our presidents had sex with women other then their wives. Better a good president and a bad husband than the other way around.
Good God Larry, simmer down!! Take some Prozac and calm down. You clearly learned all of the standard lines in order to be a democrat, good job. "It isn't and never will be Obama's fault, no matter what happens!!", "It will always be Bush's fault!" Even after all of Obama's massive failures are pointed out to you, you deflect (as all liberals do) and simply state "But it was Bush who started it!!".
Lol...get a clue you desperate follower.
Funny I can quote exact numbers and facts and all you can do is mumble. I post numbers to prove my point and you say it's not Bush's fault and I'm the one deflecting? Instead of deflecting the issue how about actually trying to prove me wrong. That's right you can't.
Women in the US and in many Western countries have gone up the ladder and became more powerful than ever, especially in federal jobs. And that is not because of merit but just by virtue of their gender. Unfortunately, when in power, women tend to treat male employees in such an unfair, if not abusive, manner. I am so concerned that we will reach a point, if we have not yet, where "men" will become subject to persecution and job discrimination.
TmSyr, to answer your question as long as they have 1 toekn minority in the Oval office your covered. Bush had Colon and Rice.
Get off the cross Hillary. If you didn't suck at your job so bad then people might have a little more confidance in women. It only takes 1 high profile person to ruin it for everybody.
Hey! She ate a Lotta Crow! with Billy Boy! She had to Look Up, to See Down!
Hillary Clinton is no woman. she is as manly or more so than Janet Reno and Janet Napolitano. I am glad that she finally decided to return the moving van full of items that she stole from the whitehouse
you are a real piece of sh---t-thank God I don't have to live around someone such as you, I definatly feel sorry for the women and children of your household
Its time for the Clinton's to retire and go away.......she's paving the way to run for President....guess old Bill wants to be the First Man in the White House....
Amen*****!
Martha --- Bill, himself, suggested the title "First Dude."
And yet she supports the Muslim Brotherhood ? I say Hypocrite.
get a big dose of those fox news fables and lies before you logged on here did you?
In reference to Hillary Clinton's meeting with Morsi:
"She also assured him that the U.S. would do everything within its power to “support the democratically elected government and to help make it a success in delivering results for the people of Egypt.”
This came from CNN.
An American supporting a democratically elected leader. Clearly republicans would never stoop so low.
Larry
Yea this is the same guy that says his word is Law and he himself is ABOVE the law... Sound like someone we know?
No one I know. I'm sure you think your comment is obvious but doubt anyone else will.
Sorry to disappoint Larry, but he's SPOT ON.
I'm hardly disappointed. Opinions are like, um noses everyone has one.

yeah those women need to stay in the kitchen and in the bedroom just like there bible toting gop husbands tell them too, a pregnant rape is God's will, and a real rape never causes pregnancy no wonder this country is so messed up and Obama won so easily
Screwball: No one requires you to pay for any of those things. There's lots of democrats paying taxes that are glad to fund those things. Yours all goes to the military. We think too much is spent on a military with 900+ foreign bases. Dumb is thinking only republicans pay taxes or have a right to determine how they're spent even though there are more democrats than republicans and the number is falling.
You gotta be freaking kidding me. CREATE problems?! You think problems like unwanted pregnancies from rape were created by "democratic sluts" ON PURPOSE?!
