Federal authorities inspect the site of the plane crash in El Tejote locality, Nuevo Leon State, Mexico, where Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera along with six other people died as they were travelling from Monterrey, in northern Mexico, to Mexico City.
Updated 11:05 p.m. ET: Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera died in a plane crash Saturday night, her father and brother confirmed on Telemundo.
"She never gave up and she was good to everyone," said her father, Pedro, about his daughter’s legacy outside of his home in Lakewood, Calif.
The wreckage of the plane was found Sunday in northern Mexico with no apparent survivors, authorities said.
The wreckage was found in the Ejido La Colorada, Municipality of Nuevo Leon. Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, secretary of communications and transport, said that the plane was not recognizable, but the evidence suggested it was the aircraft carrying the singer, Telemundo reported.

Singer Jenni Rivera, seen here during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, in January, was aboard a plane that went missing shortly after leaving the northern Mexican city of Monterrey early Sunday.
Officials said Rivera's Learjet went off the radar about 62 miles from Monterrey after taking off at 3:15 a.m. local time.
The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched investigators to assist the government of Mexico in its investigation of the crash.
Rivera was heading for the city of Toluca in central Mexico after a concert in Monterrey on Saturday night. The singer, two pilots and four other passengers were aboard, Mexican officials said.
Jorge Domene, spokesman for Nuevo Leon's government told Milenio television that civilian agency helicopters flew over the state searching for the plane. The missing included her publicist, lawyer, makeup artist and the flight crew, the ministry of transportation and communication said in a statement.
In a photo posted on her Twitter account on Friday, Jenni Rivera can be seen referencing her concert in Monterrey. In the photo she is seen holding up a sign with the words, "Nos Vemos este 7 en Colima, 8-en Monterrey. I love you!" Translation: "See you this 7th in Colima, 8 in Monterrey."
Born in Long Beach, Calif., to Mexican immigrant parents, Rivera has sold some 15 million records in her career and won several awards and Grammy nominations, her website said.
The 43-year-old mother of five is renowned as an exponent of the Nortena and banda regional musical styles.

The so-called "Diva of the Banda" recently won two Billboard Mexican Music Awards: Female Artist of the Year and Banda Album of the Year for "Joyas prestadas: Banda." Her famous songs include "La Gran Senora" and "De Contrabando."
The singer, businesswoman and actress appeared in the movie "Filly Brown," as the incarcerated mother of Filly Brown, and has her own reality shows including "I Love Jenni" and "Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis and Raq-C" and her daughter's "Chiquis `n Control."
Rivera had given a concert before thousands of fans in Monterrey on Saturday night. After the concert she gave a press conference during which she spoke of her emotional state following her recent divorce from baseball player Esteban Loaiza.
"I can't get caught up in the negative because that destroys you. Perhaps trying to move away from my problems and focus on the positive is the best I can do. I am a woman like any other and ugly things happen to me like any other women," she said Saturday night, according to The Associated Press. "The number of times I have fallen down is the number of times I have gotten up."

The mother and grandmother had announced in October that she was divorcing Loaiza after two years of marriage. It was her third marriage.
Rivera is the sister of Mexican singer Lupillo Rivera.
Celebrities tweeted about Rivera's disappearance.
"OMG! Just heard about @jennirivera Praying for her and her family during this difficult & uncertain time!" Gloria Estefan tweeted.

Very sad news, but why do they refer to her as Mexican-American? She was born in Long Beach, California. Shouldn't they just say she was American? My grandparents were from Ireland, but my parents don't refer to themselves as Irish-Americans. They are Americans with Irish roots. Yeah, her ethnicity was Mexican, but her nationality is/was American.
I have only lived in Texas for 6 years and can tell you that the majority of Mexican-Americans are racist! They have no respect for the country they live in. I know this because I've not only seen it I have herd from the few that I call friends. I can not think of one culture that has migrated to America that would not learn English. Only Mexicans demand to keep their language and expect everyone else to learn spanish and have everything labled in spanish. I never could understand why my grandma hated Mexicans. But after leaving in a part of Texas where Mexicans out number blacks or whites 10/1 I have lost all respect for them. Only people who need a Heritage month are racist.

The black community celebrates a month regarding their heritage. Not all "Mexican-Americans are racists. Maybe you think Texas is the only state in the union that has Mexicans living in it. So many "white " people are racists and yet you aren't calling them out. Each and every "race" has good and bad. There isn't a single one that doesn't have a community of racists or bigots. I have lived in the United States my entire life. I have visited and lived in countries around the world. I know what I am saying.
Chris C-30, you are kidding right? Maybe it's because you haven't been around that many other cultures, but there are many who refuse to learn English.
Armenians, Persians, Chinese, and Vietnamese, just to mention a few off the top of my head. There are at least 30+ languages that are spoken exclusively by native users who live in the U.S. and have not learned English.
How do I know this? Well, other than having met some of these people, when you go to the pharmacy there is a sign in about 35 languages that say's "Please point to the language you wish to be served in." Since I understand a few of those languages, I can see that it states that in just about every language on that sign.
Hard to read disrespectful comments about somebody that just died and has relatives that are deeply hurting for her passing. She had a very beautiful and strong voice, not nasal Rihanna, very powerful voice!! There's many people in Hollywood with no talent at all and big egos, she wasn't one of those, and she could really sing!! It's sad her death. And she had a good heart and was a good person, always looked very friendly and approachable by everybody. Nobody has the right to judge her for any mistakes. Anybody perfect here can throw the first stone. Rest in peace, Jenni Rivera, so many songs will miss your voice..... :(
She identified with Mexicans and Americans. I can see that it's tough to understand if you are not "Mexican American." Ireland is very far away considering that Mexico is just south. Maybe its easier for American's with Mexican descent to feel a connection with Mexico since its just south of the border. Also, the history of the Irish coming to America is different than the Mexican's history in America . All of this and much more plays a role in the way we view ourselves today. If you research Chicano history it may become more clear to you with all the "issues" and "labels" Americans with Mexican descent have had to deal with. We are all different and we all identify with our roots depending on our individual experiences. It's sort of complicated, maybe it's just easier to accept and respect that we are all unique in our thoughts and feelings.
Legally there is no such thing as Mexican-American.
Their is no Dual citizenship agreement between the 2 countries.

To be honest I never liked her music, I thought it was pure crap. Not sure why people make a big deal when somebody dies, every minute somebody dies in the world plus is not like she was known for deep inspirational well thought out lyrics. Just saying.

Sad for this to happen. She is not the first nor will be the last. Buddy Holly, Ronnie Van Zant, SRV and so many others. I do find it racist however that there are Mexican-Americans and African-Americans but not German-Americans or Irish-Americans or French-Americans or Canadian-Americans or British-Americans etc. How can we all be equal if some refuse to just be Americans? Find a copy of the John Wayne song/recitation "The Hyphen" - about how it is used to divide, to set apart. Why do some people feel they have to set themselves apart, rather than being a simple "American". And consider the sequence - their American status is subordinate to their nationality. In my case, I am of Irish ancestry, but damn proud to be complete 100 percent American.

If a black citizen of England moves here and gets citizenship and has children will they be British-African-Americans. What if they are Mexican and from France. How does they rest of the races play into this. A Canadian who is Asian? People complain about racism yet it is demanded by or government and leaders who allow this. They want us all to not be equal, the same or together. Same goes with politics. As long as you can divide us by left right or center no one large group that demands change will form.
