Al-Qaida in Yemen offers bounty on US ambassador

The Yemen branch of al-Qaida has put out a bounty on U.S. Ambassador Gerald Feierstein, shown earlier this month at a military conference in Sanaa.

The Yemen-based branch of al-Qaida has offered a bounty for anyone who kills the U.S. ambassador to Yemen or an American soldier in the impoverished Arab state, a group that monitors Islamist websites said.

Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) said it was offering 3 kilograms (more than 105 ounces) of gold for the killing of Ambassador Gerald Feierstein, the U.S. ambassador based in Sanaa, the U.S.-based SITE Intelligence Group said, citing an audio released by militants.

AQAP also offered to pay 5 million rials ($23,350) to anyone who kills any American soldier in Yemen, it said.

Citing the audio, SITE said the offer was put out as being valid for six months and was made "to encourage our Muslim Ummah (nation), and to expand the circle of the jihad (holy war) by the masses."

Suspected al-Qaida attack kills 26

AQAP, made up mostly of militants from Yemen and Saudi Arabia, is regarded by the United States as the most dangerous branch of the network founded by Osama bin Laden.

In September, AQAP urged Muslims to step up protests and kill U.S. diplomats in Muslim countries over a film denigrating the Prophet Mohammad, which it said was another chapter in the "crusader wars" against Islam.

The film provoked an outcry among Muslims, who deem any depiction of the Prophet as blasphemous and triggered violent attacks on embassies in countries in Asia and the Middle East.

Four U.S. officials, including the ambassador to Libya, were killed in the aftermath. The Pentagon said it had sent a platoon of Marines to Yemen after demonstrators stormed the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa.

A U.S. ally, Yemen is struggling against challenges on many fronts since mass protests forced veteran leader Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down in February after decades in power.

Key al-Qaida figure killed

President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's government is trying to re-establish order and unify the army.

Washington, which has pursued a campaign of assassination by drone and missile against suspected al-Qaida members, backed a military offensive in May to recapture areas of Abyan province. But militants have struck back with a series of bombings and killings.

@ BlowbamaSucks I'm very curious as to your existing physiological condition that allows you to spell well while simultaneously exhibiting an IQ comparable to a small soap dish. Head trauma, perhaps? Some kind of idiot savant (major emphasis on the 'idiot')? It seems safer to assume that you were born semi-intelligent, but were brainwashed by parents just as hateful and ignorant as yourself. Your guy lost, the right guy won-simple as that. Try to get over yourself.

This is obama's fault! he still denies his responsibility for Benghazi and has brought no one to justice-al Quaida has NOTHING to fear from the US as long as obama is office and they know it. It is only a matter of time before terror attacks INSIDE the US go unanswered as well.

Al Qaida and Taliban are not people of God. People who know God, would not do the things they do. They are using religion to increase their own selfish gains/power. Disgusting people!!!! They have no right to criticise any other people until they understanad their own actions.

Don't worry Obama will let them have him an d they won't have to pay anything. Obama in my opinion is the most corrupt and stupidist person I have ever seen. If it wasn't for Rothchilds and the Rockefellers telling him what to do he wouldn't be able to get out of bed because he would need someone to tell him how to do it. I believe God gave a snail more brains

Every religion has it's extremists just like the KKK is a Christian based group. You shouldn't judge an entire religion by it's extremists.

Yes, I agree but, you need to judge a group by their Ideaology and ISLAM has an Ideaology of Either Conversion or Death To The Infadel !

So Yes, We Need to judge those who Murder and Rape and Those who promote Life with Mercy. Islam does not offer any of these redeeming qualities !

The Bush administration put bounties out on about fifty people a few years back. I don't know if any of them are still out there to be collected. When you have a war criminal like Bush offering millions of dollars for the heads of fifty people, how can you not expect enemies of our country to return the favor? That imbecile has caused America more harm than most of our enemies have.

I love who on 9/11 Bush lost 3,000 American citizens to a terrorist attack and Republicans re-elected him while Obama lost 4 Americans in the line of duty on 9/11 to terrorists and you want to label him a failure and impeach him.

So now Al Qaida is offering money to poor people to kill Americans. Are they running out of suicide bomber volunteers? Virtual embassies are coming and probably sooner rather than later. Wouldn't it be rich if we were to publicly offer bounty money on Al Qaida operatives to these same poor people. Of course America would never do it but I have no doubt the CIA has given money or assistance for information or assassinations. Islam is not compatible with any other form of governance. It must be kept separate and not allowed to migrate and spread its death war worshipping ideology. Once isolated from other groups they will implode turn on each other and destroy themselves. Out of the rubble they may rebuild a healthier way of thinking. Americans have been burdened too long with these people. We need clean energy now. Let Russia and China have at.

Well, humm, let's not mention that Bin Laden was Muslim Brotherhood and so is his second in command Al Zawahri. All middle east terrorist groups have their roots in the M.B. I guess that it doesn't matter that Obama opened "official communications" with the M.B. in Jan. of 2011. I guess that it doesn't matter that the Obama admin. helped install Morsi in Egypt and that the same thing is happening in Syria(that exiled group that is in Turkey is also M.B.) and we, the U.S.A. is pushing for this. We are funding terrorism. This is too difficult for me to understand. I can't imagine that the Pres. and his admin. is unaware that the M.B. is a radical Islamist group. That their "M.B. Project" calls for spreading radical Islam worldwide. The M.B. has predicted that they will rule Europe by 2021-2022, and from what I have seen they are right.

Sounds like one of the vile scum in AQAP would be thinking of applying for the post of his Chief of Staff if Allen West decides to run for Congress again. I'll never forget Joyce Kaufman's comments during his 2010 campaign "If ballots don't work bullets will."

It was reported that Al-Quaida was working for the CIA in Syria.......... If they put a bounty on the U.S. Ambassador, wouldn't that be a conflict of interest? .............. Does anyone know what is going on?

          Reply#103 - Mon Dec 31, 2012 3:27 PM EST

They got away with it in Benghazi so they'll just keep doing it. I think they see this president as weak who will do nothing.

When are we going to learn that Al-Qaeda is like a hydra, hiding among its own people? When Osama Bin Laden was killed, only one head was cut off. There are more. We need to develop on the ground intelligence at a greater level, use the technology we have to its utmost, and use surgical strikes against the different "branches" or heads of this organization. We also need to quit funding nations which allow this terrorist organization to exist in their borders. Then we need to bring economic pressure to bear on these nations, until they own up to their complicity, and arrest these slimes themselves, and execute them.

they have the bounty on the wrong person. why bother with a lowly ambassador that is of no real importance as obama shown that when he refused to help the last one and let him get murdered.

Dianne Feinstein would be a much better choice and would make the bounty hunters more famous.

Those nuts in Yemen who are masquerading as Muslims, are nothing but misguided thugs!! The claim to be one branch of al-Qaida, and perhaps they are - One thing remains true with certainty; they aren't a branch of the Global Muslim community at-large!!! These kind of groups live, in the dark ages of their own twisted minds!
