Brazilian authorities captured a cat that was entering a prison with a saw, bits for hand drills, a mobile phone, batteries and charger. The cat belonged to the prisoners and was frequently taken by relatives to their homes, returning to the prison on its own.
The cat came back, it just couldn’t stay away.
And when it did come back on New Year’s Eve, a guard standing watch at a prison gate in northeastern Brazil thought there was something unusual about the slender white kitty slipping by.
He alerted other guards who helped him to catch the feline, according to a statement by the federal prisons bureau, and they found that the cat’s torso was wrapped tight with contraband.
Specifically: Two small saws, two drills for concrete, a headset, a cell phone, a cell phone charger and three batteries.

The confiscated material could have allowed inmates to cut bars and dig tunnels, according to the statement, while allowing them to communicate with people on the outside. The cat, it appeared, belonged to the inmates and traveled between the prison and the homes of the inmates' families, who live in the area.
All 263 inmates at the Arapiraca prison are deemed suspects because, a prison spokeswoman told the Estado de Sao Paulo: “It will be hard to figure out who is responsible, as the cat does not talk.”
The spokeswoman said it was the first time a cat tried to smuggle in contraband since the prison was built in 2002.
The newspaper said the cat was not held at the prison and was instead transferred to the city’s animal shelter for veterinary care.
A cat slipped into a prison in Brazil but was intercepted by prison officials, who found a drill and saw taped to its body. TODAY's Jenna Wolfe reports.

These guys are being kind of rough on this cat, no?
If you've ever had a cat, you know that it was not happy about having all that tape being ripped from it. They are handling it correctly in order to keep from having their arms and bodies slashed by those claws.
Cats can be pretty dangerous. Their claws are quite sharp, they are extremely flexible, and their saliva is toxic. Can't blame the guards for being rough on the poor critter; the infection rate for cat bites is insane, and that cat was NOT happy.
You do what you have to do to keep yourself in one piece.
Bad Kitty!
Cat saliva is toxic? Since when?
I think it would have been easier to just buy a cat costume.
Better than a homing pigeon. The relatives knew the cat would go back to the prison so they loaded it up with a bunch of contraband. The relatives responsible better hope they were smart enough not to leave fingerprints on the things they taped to the cat or they may be joining their relatives in the prison.
Cat saliva is toxic?
Hahahahahaha.
I think the poster's brain is far more toxic.
The first guard at the gate didn't notice the cat was taped, but unusual? Poor eyesight?
The saliva isn't toxic precisely, as far as I know, but cat mouths (including, y'know, saliva) have a lot of bacteria, so a cat bite that breaks the skin can definitely make your day unpleasant.
And, cat saliva can be "toxic" to those who are alergic.
You have to admit, this is f**king hilarious. Poor kitty.
Its probably just shrink wrap, not tape.
Evil does not wear a bonnet ~
Mr. Tinkles
Cat's mouths are filled with quite a bit of bacteria. Worse then dogs, humans, etc. Just recently had to deal with a cat bite on another cat that blew up to larger then a golf ball sized abscess before breaking. Getting bit by a cat can also lead to infection in the lymph nodes of the arm. Also rather painful and can be dangerous. I can definitely understand why they're holding the neck and arms that way to avoid getting bit or scratched.
Man these cons will think of anything...
doc said I had cat scratch fever in 86. very painful and made my lymph nods swell like balloons had to take antibiotics for 3 months. that being said this is funny as hell especially the part (as the cat does not talk)WHAT A PURRFECT ALIBI
Really. In my past, cats have scratched and bitten me, but the most I suffered were welts on the skin, and maybe once in a while, some bleeding. Of course, the cats were properly vaccinated. How Brazil takes care of their animals is another question. Yes, in this instance, cats.
If they would have just stuffed all that stuff up its anus, everything would've worked out just fine. Never would've gotten caught. Im clearly joking. calm down.
What I want to know is how they trained that cat to do all that.
DAMN, I can't even get my dog to make a decent cup of coffee.
Only a cat in poor health can have a dangerous bite, though people that hate cats can imagine anything. Also, cats do not bite except in play when they will not bite through the skin. Unless they have been raised to play with people's hands. Or, unless they are feral and afraid of people.
Lastly, despite persistent warnings from cat haters, cats never attack people - unless they have been abused.
with all those tools ,the cat should be charged with being a cat burgular !
No, cats in good health can also have dangerous bites. Had to deal with a cat fight between two perfectly healthy cats and a cut on the back of one blew up to the size of a golf ball filled with puss. Even healthy cats dig in their litter box and lick things....
“It will be hard to figure out who is responsible, as the cat does not talk.”
Yes, because among other things, she is busy SLEEPING.
This cat ain't a rat....shes not talkin.
That cat is awfully limp for being handled so "firmly". That cat looks DEAD to me, but I'm sure she will be "cared for" at the animal shelter.
Sigh...
Poor kitty.
I've always said that cats can't be trusted...
How many times can it be said? "That Pu$$y was insane!"
those "tools" couldn't get pussy in prison !!
Cat Burglar!
The guy in prison may not of wanted anything to do with an escape plot. It could have been the cat that hatched the whole thing.
Ya,,, thats the ticket, it was the cats idea,,,
Cats ARE evil.
Poor Kitty Cat!
LMAO at the "Old Mr. Johnson" quote at the very beginning!!! LOVE IT!
Charge the cat with a feliney.
It was Ernst Blofeld! He's responsible.
This is the first time the cat got CAUGHT. Very funny.
The spokeswoman said it was the first time a cat tried to smuggle in contraband since the prison was built in 2002.
The spokeswoman said it was the first time a cat was caught smuggling in contraband since the prison was built in 2002. FIXED!
Oh, sure, tape all that stuff on a cat and hope it decides, when it is ready, and if it is so inclined, that it will sneak into the prison. I've been trying to imagine my cats doing something like that, but I can't.
Oh, your cat is Miss Goody Four-paws is she? Oh, yooouuurr cat would neeeevverrr do anything like this eh? Sure lady, but how well do you know your cat really??
They will go where they are fed.
No well behaved cats at my house. My two Maine coon boys are too big to practice stealth smuggling into anything (total weight for both is about 30 pounds). They are pretty law-abiding, although I have my suspicions that when I find paw prints on my computer that they have been looking at kitty-porn.
And the links to pethouse.com didn't tip you off?
/Cats are eeeeviiiilll, especially my siamese
There is no way any of my cats would be this stealthy. Fat, Fatter and Fattest would be caught in a heartbeat! lol. They aren't really that fat, well one of them is...
Who says that cats can not be trained?
Amazed the cat was discovered seeing how well said contraband was concealed.
I can expect a new lolcat meme soon enough...
Absolutely! "Contraband Kitty"

Another catty comment?
Animal shelter?? Screw that! This cat needs to do hard time, throw her in the hole for this latest stunt.
If they would have just watched the cat it could have lead them directly to the owners. It would have gone back to who was feeding it at some point.
There may have been twenty or thirty convicts feeding it. Roaming cats are not loyal to one person/family, and prison can be pretty boring. The contraband would find its' way to the convict-in-charge, regardless of who the cat approached first.
Come an get me copper.
Maybe if they had cat-apulted the feline into the proison?
Well, I'm not a cat person, so "off with pussy's head!"
OK, you guys are good. I admit it. Thanks. Not one nasty comment and lots of awful (and funny) puns. I laughed myself into catatonia.
Meow!
Another good one, lady.
I admit it. I'm not a cat person. I always thought they were only good for two things, door stops and bookends.
Who knew.
i thought they only have shaved pussies in brazil....
Mike
Actually it is called a Brazilian Wax or Brazilian waxing! Still would be "ow, ow, ow" and not the cat's meow! LOL
You have to admit, people can be very clever! They should have used a Black Cat for night ops!
Kitty Crack-Meow Mix.
Meowww...
My cat can be ten miles away and if I start opening a can, any can, he will be home in no time flat thinking it's cat food!
My 25 lbs bundle of Joy.
You can do amazing things with classical conditioning.
wao, this is an amazing story, cons using an innocent kitty to pass contraband. What this world has come to.
Whoever did this was a pussy.
