Syria rebels trade 48 Iranian hostages for 2,000 imprisoned civilians

Iranians released by Syrian rebels arrive at a hotel in Damascus on Wednesday. The 48 were released by Syrian rebels in exchange for the more than 2,000 civilian prisoners held by the Syrian government.

Syrian rebels freed 48 Iranian hostages on Wednesday in exchange for the release of more than 2,000 civilian prisoners held by the Syrian government, according to the head of a Turkish aid agency that helped broker the deal.

The Syrian rebel al-Baraa brigade seized the Iranians in early August and initially threatened to kill them, saying they were members of Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps sent to fight for Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The Islamic Republic, one of Assad's closest allies, denied this, saying they were Shiite Muslim pilgrims visiting shrines. Iran asked Turkey and Qatar to use their connections with Syrian insurgents to help secure their release.

"The 48 Iranians have been released and are being taken to Damascus, accompanied by Iranian and Syrian officials," Bulent Yildirim, head of humanitarian aid agency IHH, told Reuters by telephone from Damascus.

The group arrived at the Sheraton hotel in central Damascus looking tired but in good health, a witness said. The men were accompanied by the Iranian ambassador to Syria and arrived in six small buses.

Yildirim said the release of 2,130 civilian prisoners, most of them Syrian but also including Turks and other foreign citizens, had begun in return. Two state-run Iranian television channels also reported that 48 Iranians had been freed in a swap.

I thought Shiites enjoy flagging, slashing and chaining as part of their religious ceremonies. In photo, they don't look that brave.

In Syria, seventh century despotic bigoted, barbaric and higly intolerant Sunni rulers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Turkey and other Sunni Arab League rulers are real culprits.

They and their Sunni killer fronts like al Qaida, MB, Salaffi and other labels ones are aiding Syrian rebels.

If Assad is overthrown by Sunni Islamic religious Nazis like al-Qaida, MB, the conditions of sane Muslims, females, minority tribes like Kurds, Christians will be unbearable just like Iraq.

Assad should eliminate as many Sunni rebels as possible.

It is WIN, WIN for all!

Both sides in Syria are barbaric. The Sunni rebels might have ties to Al Qaeda, and they might take away the rights of women and minorities when they come to power, but Assad takes away everyone's rights equally. His people have already killed over 60,000 civilians already, with tens of thousands still missing.

But I agree with you that the Muslim Brotherhood are among the worst of all these barbaric religious fanatics.

Perhaps you should tell Obama that. He is almost as chummy with the Muslim Brotherhood as he is with Jay-Z.

Obama's director of national intelligence even called the Muslim Brotherhood "mostly secular". So it looks like this administration really needs someone to explain these things to them.

We have no roles in Syria, Iran or any ME nation with those Nations that we consider as US Allies or the US will continue to lose US Allies Worldwide.

In Syria, seventh century bigoted one-way traffic Sunnis Moderate Islamic Believers and tenth century Shiites the Fundamentalist Islamic Believers are battling on whose Allah is greater!

Can there be greater religious Islamic madness in 21st century?

"The Fundamentalist Islamic Republic of Iran, one of Assad's closest allies, denied this, saying they were Fundamentalist Islamic Shiite Muslim pilgrims visiting shrines. Iran asked Turkey and Qatar to use their connections with Syrian insurgents Fundamentalist Islamic Kurdistanis PKK, HPG, KGK Holy Warriors of Islam (Terrorists) to help secure their release."

I thought Shiites Fundamentalist Islamic Believers enjoy flagging, slashing and chaining as part of their religious ceremonies. In photo, they don't look that brave stup!d.

In Syria, seventh century despotic bigoted, barbaric and higly intolerant Sunni Moderate Islamic US Ally rulers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Turkey are not the real culprits and it is the other Sunni Fundamentalist Islamic Arab League rulers are real culprits.

They and their Sunni The Fundamentalist Islamic killer fronts like al Qaida, MB, Salaffi and other Fundamentalist Islamic Believers labels ones are aiding Syrian rebels the Fundamentalist Islamic Holy Warriors of Islam.

If Assad is overthrown by Sunni Fundamentalist Islamic Believers aka Muslims religiousNazis like al-Qaida, MB, Kurdistanis PKK, HPG, KGK; the conditions of sane Muslims Moderate Islamic Believers, females, minority tribes like Kurds, Christians will be unbearable just like Fundamentalist Islamic Shia Iraq.

Assad should eliminate as many Sunni rebels Fundamentalist Islamic Holy Warriors of Islam as possible.

It is WIN, WIN for all!

There, Fundamentalist Islamic Jonathan-1982062, I corrected your post.

You keep posting (spamming) the same nonsense. The Nation of Origin does NOT determine Moderate Islamic Believers, nor Fundamentalist Islamic Believers, their Actions do.

Example: Fundamentalist Islamic Believer Osama Bin Laden created his Fundamentalist Islamic Al Quada at Saudi Arabia to Overthrow the US Ally Saudi Arabian Government and Fight the Great Satan (US) and the Great Satan's Allies Worldwide.

Duqu - Perhaps you should tell Obama that. He is almost as chummy with the Muslim Brotherhood as he is with Jay-Z.

President Obama does not listen to anyone: 1. US Ally President Mubarak told President Obama about "Increased Al Quada like Activities" as the Fundamentalist Islamic Muslim Brotherhood moved south from Alexandria Egypt, then President Obama stopped all US Aid and US Support to US Ally Egypt, then starts calling US Ally President Mubarak a Dictator.

    2. US Ally President Gaddaffi reported "Increased Al Quada Attacks coming from Egypt" thru the US Diplomatic Channels established by SOS Condoleezza Rice, President Obama calls US Ally President Gaddaffi a Dictator Killing his own people after President Gaddaffi orders his Libyan Military to fight Al Quada and the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group that went to Libya to Kill US Ally President Gaddaffi the Collaborator to the Christians, Jews, Unbelievers; President Obama as Commander In Chief then Orders the US Military (USAFRICOM, General Ham) to attack US Ally Libya, in violation of the US Law that Restricts and Limits the US President's War Powers, 1973 War Powers Resolution (Act). Many of the Intelligence Agencies Worldwide told President Obama that the "Libyan Rebels" were Al Quada Saudi Arabia (AQ), Al Quada Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Al Quada Syria (AQS), Al Quada Yemen (AQY), Hezbollah, Al Quada Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), etc.; just like the "Syrian Rebels" are actually Fundamentalist Islamic Kurdistanis PKK, HPG, KGK, various Al Quada International Franchises (like Al Quada Iraq).
    3. President Obama's Appointed Registered Demoncrap General McChrystal warns President Obama about the Role of the Fundamentalist Islamic ShiaRepublic of Iran's Special Forces, Quds, in the arming, training, funding of Holy Warriors of Islam at the Fundamentalist Islamic Autonomous Kurdistanis Region like the Muslim Brotherhood, Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, Hamas Foreign Fighters, Al Quada International Franchises, Chechen Foreign Fighters, Taliban (Afghanistan), Al Sheebah(Somalia), Arabic Omani Muslims (Sudan, Kenya, etc.), Pakistanis Taliban, Army of Islam Gaza, Hezbollah, Army of Islam Pakistan (not the Pakistanis Government Military), etc. as more of the weapons and Holy Warriors of Islam are being capture or killed at Afghanistan; President Obama refuses to listen to General McChrystal as what General McChrystal is saying is against President Obama'sForeign Policies, General McChrystaltells the International News Media as his Duty as a US Military Officer after the US Politicians refuse to listen to those matters that will result in the Unnecessary Deaths of US Citizens.

    4. Previously General McKiernan requested 90,000 US Military to implement his General McKiernan War Plan to Win Afghanistan from President Obama as US Military Commander In Chief after President Obama promised his full support to US Congress to win Afghanistan. President Obama refuses and tells General McKiernan to submit his Letter of Resignation and Retire. President Obama then grabs General McKiernan's War Plan to Win Afghanistan and calls this the Obama War Plan To Win Afghanistan; President Obama with no US Military Experience does not realize that without General McKiernan's Commander's Intent, the General McKiernan War Plan to Win Afghanistan is Useless and so is the plagiarized President Obama War Plan to Win Afghanistan. After General McChrystal replaced General McKiernan, General McChrystal requested more US Military, President Obama only sends 1/3rd of General McChrystal's Request of 30,000; and instead sent hundreds of thousands of noncombatant US Civilians as the President Obama US Civilian Surge starting August 2009, these privilaged overpaid too expensive US Civilians broke the already strained US Military Logistics at Landlocked Afghanistan coming from US Military Logistic Support Bases at Pakistan and the Pakistanis Sea Ports thru the Khyber Pass. In April 2009 President Obama as Commander In Chief Ordered a US Defense Budget Cut while the US was Fighting Two Wars (Iraq, Afghanistan) and multiple President Obama Secret Wars (outed by Senator Lieberman as Illegal (no US Laws) and Unfunded (no US Congressional Appropriations)).

    4. US Ally President Saleh of Yemen tells President Obama of increased Al Quada Yemen activities, President Obama ignores him, then pulls out the US Military Asymmetric Warfare that were providing targeting of US MQs (Armed Drones) after locating the Fundamentalist Islamic Holy Warriors of Islam and the reopened Fundamentalist Islamic Holy Warrior of Islam Training Camps at Yemen.

There are many more examples Duqu of President Obama not listening resulting in unnecessary deaths, US and US Allies Loss of Strategic Resources, US And US Allies Loss of Strategic Locations Worldwide, US And US Allies Loss of Vital Strategic US Allies Worldwide; so do you honestly believe that President Obama will actually listen to anyone.

    Corrections to post #1.4:

    Paragraph #4. Corrected to:

    After General McChrystal replaced General McKiernan, General McChrystal requested more US Military, President Obama only sends 1/3rd of General McChrystal's Request of 90,000 to implement the Obama War Plan To Win Afghanistan, which of course fails since the Obama War Plan was plagerized from the General McKiernan War Plan to Win Afghanistan without General McKiernan's Commander's Intent portion of his General McKiernan War Plan to Win Afghanistan;

Second Paragraph #4. "US Ally President Saleh of Yemen" renumbered to Paragraph #5.

You know, after reading up on this a bit, it seems there's really only one thing all these groups have in common. Whether Shiite, Sunni, Salafist, etc., whether middle class or poor, whether educated or ignorant, there is one thing that unites them: hatred of America. That's been stoked in the ME since even before the Iranian debacle. No US President has been able to come out on top (if you even THINK Reagan, you need to be slapped upside the head... with a brick and a transcript of the Ollie North trial), because whoever grabs power realizes that the power of the populace relies right now on demonization of the "other." And so on, just like in our good home the USA, the priests, or imams, or rabbis, or preachers, or whoever love to stoke nationalist pride by blaming those who are not like "us." And those who come to power in this day and age ride that out, instituting horrible laws, dictatorships, and essentially feudal systems of government, while riding the populist surge of anti-US sentiment. Like the Tea Party.

Look, it's pretty much a no-win situation however you look at it. If we hadn't ousted Qaddaffi (or whatever the popular spelling is now), we would've been hit with more anti-Americanism from him as the Libyan official position. If we had continued to support Mubarak, that would have been shown as evidence that we support dictatorships in the ME.

Honestly, I keep coming back to this thinking of what we did to bin Laden (not in the "GO GO OBAMA!" way of thinking, but in the if your group comes to @!$%# us up, we're gonna dump you in an unmarked grave in the ocean for the fish to piss on you forever kind of way). We need a lighter touch. The more we interfere, the more anti-American sentiment is stirred up, even if we're just helping, like to help them run their factories, or oil wells, or what-have-you. Even if their lives get better under our leadership, they resent us for it.

Social movements have inertia, but they also require real events to keep their inertia. We need to figure out a new way of dealing with this. Interference doesn't work anymore. Normally, with a wild animal, you pop it on the nose really @!$%#ing hard, and it understands that messing with you is a bad idea because it'll experience even more pain. That hasn't worked. These are people, and people about as rational as other mammals protecting their young, only all the time. They perceive our presence, ANY presence, as a threat to them, thanks to the imams (mostly) and the ruling class (playing nationalist politics until it bites them in the ass). Honestly, I don't know what to do next about it, but maybe we should start listening more to the social scientists and strategists instead of the military.

Can there be greater religious madness in 21st century?

While it may not be as bad as it is over there, for a developed Nation some of our more extreme Christians are trying to initiate a theocracy here at home just because they do not agree with society and want to force it to change.

          Both sides made out well.

Assad doesn't have to use resources to feed or guard them any more.

Iran is happy. so they will do what they can for Assad.

Rebels are happy. They don't have to babysit anymore.

Assad figures he can just kill them with tanks and planes anyways.

and the rebels don't have enough ammo and guns to arm these guys anyways.

To the Sirius douchebag above...I've been around the world a coupla times and I've seen goats f$%& in the market place (and usually it WAS an Iranian the goat was being F$%&ed by).

You don't get it, do you? I really couldn't give a flying F$%& about that ENTIRE part of the planet. They are and have been nothing short if a gigantic pain in the @ss to the rest of the world. They murder their own children, beat and abuse their wives and then go out back and have sex with the livestock. They scream and bellow about what great warriors they are, and then when a western fighting man shows up they crawl under the nearest rock. The people among them who actually HAVE intellect and critical thinking skills, they control through brutality and murder. They make their women cover themselves from head to foot because their men are so sexually undisciplined that they're little more than the animals they so regularly molest.

The United States, after more than a decade of war and occupation, just wants it's soldiers (our kids) back home where they live and belong. But instead, we'll end up having to spend yet
ANOTHER (GOD knows how long) period babysitting the Iranian populace after we're finished completely destroying their armies, their military infrastructure, and their nuclear facilities (not to mention slaughtering every pull start headed @ssahollah in the ENTIRE country).

These camel humping retards are too stupid and stubborn to even consider the rather obvious fact that they have absolutely NOF$%&INGCHANCEWHATSOEVER against the US in a military conflict.

But what REALLY pisses me off is that the rest of the world (the UN, Russia, China, and ALL the rest) will do absoeffinglutely NOTHING...NADA..ZIP...BUPKUS to get these A-hollahs to back down. And when the crap comes right down to it, they won't help either. Oh no, let the US do it, let AMERICA be the big bad guy.

So in summation...two words, F$%& Iran.

It seems there is another player in the game.
